Speaker 1 (00:00):
I was initially just going to talk about this in
a reel, but I realize I am way too passionate
about it for ninety seconds. So a reel is somewhere
on my feed right now. But this topic is so important.
It is either detrimental or powerful for women, and so
(00:20):
it requires an entire episode. We're going to talk about
this new trend of the modern woman versus the trad wife,
and how these two types of women seem to continue
to attack each other on TikTok and Instagram and talking
about how, oh, I can't believe we bought the propaganda
(00:40):
that being an entrepreneur and working and all these things
was better than this, and they depict the mom like
with the kids and making soured o bread and stuff
like that. If you've seen this trend and you feel
any type of way about it, I want you to
listen to this episode, and then I want you to
share your opinions with me. This is one time when
I wish we were having this conversation two way, and
(01:03):
I could talk to you in real time, but alas
that's not how podcasting works, and so instead I ask
you to share your thoughts with me, and maybe even
we do. Maybe we even do a follow up episode
with a couple of our Chats with gg listeners sharing
their opinions, because I have a feeling this is an
ongoing conversation. But anyway, let's get started. This is Chats
(01:28):
with gg a podcast for women who are ready to
step into their power, get unstuck, and create more freedom
in all areas of life. I'm your host, GGDS certified
life and business coach, media personality and multi passionate entrepreneur.
I've helped hundreds of women find the necessary clarity, confidence,
(01:52):
and courage to build their dream life and achieve success
with less stress. If you're seeking weekly motivation of practical
and spiritual advice and tangible resources to scale in life
and in business, then you're in the right place. Are
you ready? Here we go? You know I love to
(02:13):
take on all sorts of conversations, especially when they pertain
to women. And so this new clash that I keep
seeing online and even in person in conversations with women
out and about of the modern career career woman and
the treadwife ideologies feeling like they have to combat and
fight each other. This is nonsense. Okay, I've seen this
(02:36):
conversation explode online, and as someone who coaches women in
business and life design, in other words, being able to
create the life that you desire, I have to offer
a new perspective that I have not seen anywhere. And
it is not only what's in my heart, but how
(02:58):
I have created, how I have designed my life. And
that is a perspective that allows us to break free
from this constantly binary thinking that doesn't benefit anyone and
that says that we have to choose one or the other. Okay,
(03:18):
let's start with a quick overview of this trend in
case you haven't come across it, which I sincerely doubt.
But they're women who are saying, I'm no longer buying
the propaganda that career equals success, that having a career,
building a business, et cetera. Right, this is leading to
a rise in women re embracing domestic roles as a
(03:40):
form of empowerment instead of submission. Right, And so they're
trying to they feel that their narrative is different. They're
not going back into the home and leaving their businesses
and careers to be a full time mom and homemaker
because they are being submissive to the marriage structured to
the husband whatever, but rather because they are empowered as
(04:03):
women to do what they're quote unquote supposed to do,
which is be a mom and a wife and take
care of the house and stuff like that. Now sidebar here,
I am a mom and a wife and I take
care of the house. Okay, So this is not an
attack on the thought process or the domestic roles or
(04:23):
you know the fact that being a mom and a
wife and a homemaker is not a full time job,
because it fucking is. This is the most exhausting thing
I've ever done. And I've run multiple businesses at the
same time while going to college. Okay, running a house
is harder. And so also what I've seen, to continue on,
like the overview of what this trend is painting, the
(04:46):
story that it's painting, is that the tread wife esthetic.
It focuses on nurturing, it focuses on homemaking, it focuses
especially on femininity. Okay. So feminism is the part, especially
the part of all of this that I have an
issue with. Okay, because feminism was created to give us
(05:09):
women the freedom of choice. You get to choose, do
you want to be a tadwife, go for it? You
have our blessing. Do you want to be a modern
wife and go work and run a house, go for it.
You have our blessing. That is what feminism is, right,
But now women seem to be questioning if that freedom
(05:31):
of being able to choose means another kind of pressure
to hustle, to have to be both. And that's where
I come in. Okay, The real problem here isn't in
the labels. Okay, it is underlying in the structure. All right,
here's my argument. The only reason why it seems that
(05:59):
the modern woman, the business owner, career building woman, that
woman and the trad wife can't coexist is simply because
modern women are building their businesses like men, not like women.
Let's talk about what that means as I am trying
(06:21):
to explain it. Okay, there's a beautiful, very necessary contrast
between masculine and feminine energy. This has nothing to do
with being a girl or a boy. We all have
masculine energy, we all have feminine energy, and when it
comes to business, the masculine part of energy is the
one that has rigid schedules. It's the one that has
(06:41):
a like a grind culture. It's why you keep hearing
that term out there that's like, oh, bro sales, right,
it's the one that's like, well, just put it on
your credit card. What do you mean you have to
ask somebody else. You can make your own decisions. Just
doesn't this matter to you? Don't you want to see
what it's like on the other side, like that pushy
sales that makes literally every single woman outther feel icky
as fuck. Right, And masculine business energy also has that
(07:03):
element of hyper productivity. Now it's hyper productivity for women,
not for men. For men, that's just a regular productivity.
Why because a man's biological cycle is twenty four hours long.
A woman's biological cycle is twenty eight days long on average, Okay,
(07:26):
And so when we get into business, we have in
historically not every woman does this, I sure fucking don't,
but historically most women have stepped into business and the
concept of business, the common practices of business in that
masculine business energy. Why because from the beginning of time
(07:48):
it's been men who have been the ones running the businesses.
And so when we finally fought and earned our way
into our own finances, into the business world, into entrepreneurship,
into employment, we didn't even stop to think of like
(08:08):
recreating the machine. We just jumped in and hoped to
be able to do the damn thing right. And women
are adaptable, We are able, We are beyond able to
do the things all the things right. And so instead
of thinking, well, now that I'm in this machine, how
can I recreate it to favor me? That wasn't really
(08:30):
an option when women were barely being considered as secretaries,
and being a secretary for a while was considered you know,
bring me coffee, rather than having like an actual placement
or opinions, or women are even now just starting to
get into the c suites, right like, we've just now
started making real, real powerful breakthroughs as women in these spaces, right,
(08:55):
And so we weren't thinking of, let me break this
giant machine and rebuild it to my liking. We were
just grateful to be able to be in there to
acquire the financial independence that would end up giving us
decision power in our lives, potentially for many women, the
financial independence to be able to get out of toxic marriages,
(09:17):
abusive marriages, marriages where the men were either physically abusive
or cheating or otherwise not making them happy, and because
the woman was not allowed to work because the woman
didn't have any forms of maintaining herself and her children.
She just had to stay and suck it up right.
And we grew tired of that, amongst many other things,
(09:38):
and decided that it was time for us to be
able to have us say in our lives. And listen,
whether this next sentence pisses you off or not, is
it's just the truth. Money is power. Money is power,
and when you have money, you have the power to
make decisions and to make changes in your lives and
in the lives of others. This is why it is
so important for women to have money, our own money,
(10:02):
because when we have money, we have power, and we
have a deep desire to nurture and to give and
to make this world safe for our children and for
our elderly, because that's the way we're built. I'm not
saying that some men don't have that desire too, of
course they do. But in general, what I'm saying is
(10:24):
women are the nurturers and creators of life, right, and
so the more women who have power, the more likely
we are to see a changed world. And so that
leads me to back to that contrast that I was
talking about. We get into business and we immediately just
adapted to doing business and that masculine energy. But there
is an alternative. The alternative is doing business from your
(10:49):
feminine energy, from your intuition, being guided and not just
by the logic of what's outside, but by the intuition
that guides us in nearly every other part of our
life decision making. When we look at our kids, we
don't always go to the doctor first. We look at
our kid and we intuitively know what he or she
needs before we even consider asking somebody else. When you
(11:13):
look at your husband or your partner, you intuitively know
what they're going through or how they need help. It's
the same with our family, with our friends. This is
a natural compass that we have built into our biology. Right,
doing business from that feminine energy means following our natural rhythm,
not hustling. We're not supposed to be hyper productive. We're
(11:35):
supposed to have our productivity in flow with our twenty
eight day cycle. Right, following the ease that is necessary
for women, we require more rest right and creating systems
that nurture the things that align with our values. And
I don't know a single modern woman out there. I
(11:57):
don't know a single one who doesn't value a good partner,
a strong marriage, and they're incredible kids. I don't know
a single modern woman out there without those things who
doesn't somewhere in her heart wish she could have it all.
(12:17):
The beautiful marriage, the kids, the husband or partner, and
the career and the beautiful home and the perfect fucking
soured oh bread. And so that leads me to my reframe.
We can we don't have to choose between the tradwife
(12:39):
and the modern wife. We need to have the courage
to create a business structure that has that space to
become a business that leads with flow, a business that
leads with emotional intelligence, a business that has what I
(13:00):
like to call intuitive strategy without burning out, without abandoning
your families. This is literally what we teach inside SBS.
It is a system where you can go from being
overbooked when you've outgrown, literally outgrown your business of one
to one. You're overbooked, you are exhausted, you are depleted
(13:21):
from serving at home and from serving your clients, and
you we teach you how to go from that one
to one stress to a one to many format where
you can still have deep impact and make more profit
if you can serve three people an hour, so one
person an hour, one, one person an hour two to
one person in hour three. What would it do for
(13:41):
your income if you could serve ten people in our one,
ten people in hour two, and ten people in hour three,
And how much less would you need to work to
make the money that you want to make to give
you the financial freedom that makes you feel safe in
the decisions that you are making in your life, without
the burnout, without keeping you from your kids and your husband,
(14:04):
your partner, whatever makes you happy or no kids, your dog,
your cat, traveling, I don't know, whatever it is that
brings you joy. We can do that. We can build
businesses and lead businesses with flow, emotional intelligence and intuitive
strategy without burning out, without abandoning our values and the
things that matter to us, whether that's a family or
(14:26):
whatever else. So it's more about integration of these two
women than it is about choosing sides, much less about
trying to ridicule the women on the other side into
doing what you think they need to be doing. Shut
the fuck up with that shit. Let women live their
fucking lives, especially if you're a woman you want to go,
(14:48):
do what you want to do. Let people do what
the fuck they want to do. I cannot bear to
watch other women, to watch women ridicule each other for
the choices that they make live and that live. When
you can int great these two women, this trad wife
with this modern woman, right, you can easily be a
high earning woman in her full purpose. That is, a
(15:12):
woman who can pursue her professional dreams and make a
delicious at home dinner with your kids and your family.
When you can integrate this trad wife with that modern woman,
you can teach your daughters to be independent and to
love being a caretaker if that's their choice. You can
(15:36):
teach your daughters that they can do what they want
without burnout. You can teach them to do it in
a new way that honors the full spectrum of what
a woman is, and a woman is whatever she desires
to become. This is one of the main things that
(15:58):
we have inside Extraordinary or Private podcast, where I literally
coach you in voice notes all the time. You can
be your own version of extraordinary. You just have to choose.
You have to choose. That is the word, what parts
of your thinking and behaviors you need to shed. And
(16:20):
this binary thinking that the modern woman cannot coexist with
the trad wife is imposed on us. When we choose
to behave from the masculine energy of business. When we
choose to restructure our businesses to be run with flow,
(16:42):
emotional intelligence, and intuitive strategy, we are running our businesses
from a feminine energy, and that allows us to integrate
both women and live a truly fulfilling life. I can
sit here and I can tell you because I live
this life, and because I coach my clients on creating
(17:04):
these lives. And you've heard my clients. You've seen their testimonials,
not just written but in videos. You've seen this. This
is what I do, and I know that it's true
because I live this life. You see me live this life.
You see me in my pajamas all the time, putting
my baby to sleep, and you see me run powerhouse
(17:25):
fucking events like Move Brief grow every year with one
hundred and fifty to two hundred women in a room
transforming their lives. So I'm not special. I'm not special.
You can do the same thing. You can do the
same thing right. And so when you decide to shift
(17:49):
the way that you view your options the way that
you decide how you're going to build your business, how
you're going to design your life. If you give yourself
an opportunity not to just accept what's being given to you,
but to give yourself space to potentially create something new
(18:09):
that has not been created before. Or let me rephrase that,
because many of us are already living that life, but
rather that is not being openly marketed and promoted out there.
You can restructure your life and design a business where
you have space for life, for values, for family, a
(18:30):
business where you can lead with intuition but support it
with strategy. The business where you stop hustling like men
and we start building like women. This is where your
business starts to feel confident and in flow. This is
where you have clarity on where you're going and what
(18:50):
to say yes to and what to say no to
without guilt because you're clear on where you're going. This
is the kind of business that creates consistent income with
consistent resence with your family. This is where you have
clients alignment, because when you're leading a life where you
make it clear from the start to your clients that
you lead the kind of business where you're going to
(19:13):
serve them fully with your entire heart, wisdom, and experience,
and that there are boundaries. Because your values mean that
your family becomes the number one priority after three pm,
when the kids get home from school, or whatever your
boundaries are, you are going to attract clients that are
aligned with those same values. We're going to honor that
(19:34):
because they're leading the same kind of life. And more
so than that, you know and having time to be
present with the things that matter most to you. More
so than that, you become another leader in a world
where women need to see women creating and designing their
dream lives. Against what we've been told that we must do,
(19:58):
against what we've been told we must be how we've
been told we need to show up. We have an
opportunity to create and design our lives. However, we want
to have all of the things that we value and desire.
So the real revolution here is in allowing each woman
(20:18):
to design her life her way. This does not have
to be the modern woman versus the tradwife. We have
the freedom to live fully on our own terms and
to create and design the life and business that we want.
And please, do not be guilted into choosing a role.
I challenge you to design your role. I challenge you
(20:45):
to integrate your trad wife and your modern woman into
one powerful, delicious, three sixty well rounded, value driven, intuitively
led version of you. I challenge you to do that
because I know that you can. I've seen all of
the other women that have gone through SBS, that have
(21:05):
gone through my coaching do it, and you can do
it too. I would love to hear your thoughts on
