C K on Sports. It isFox Sports Radio. Super excited to be
joined by this young, talented widereceiver from the Fresno State Bulldogs, the
first freshman true or Red Shirts topost a one hundred yard receiving games since
DeVante Adams. Joining me right now, Jalen Moss. Jalen, what's up?
What's up? Yeah, Helen,Palo Alto, let's go. First

(00:22):
of all, let's talk about along list of successful Bulldogs coming from Palo
Alto and now your freshman year, red shirt freshman year, you're continuing the
success of players coming from Palo Alto. How does that feel? You know,
it's a lot of guys out thereI don't get recognition, but just

(00:43):
to have my name being out therebeing recognized for doing something I love,
you know, that's also like that'sa great feeling. It's just a hard
work that I've been putting in.It's all season. It's just coming to
show, like to show the redwave shot of fans, my family and
everybody that like I'm here. I'mhere to make a stay me in and
you know, like I got yearshere, so I'm I'm gonna be you

(01:04):
know, having some good moments sayingand in valid children's stadiumself, definitely love
the energy that you're bringing a ValleyChildren's stadium. Let's talk about that one
handed grab. My man, thatwas a high light, real moment right
there. Talk about it, youknow, the moment. It's never too

(01:25):
big for me. You know,I just thought to stand out and I
don't know, I just grabbed itwith one hand. You know, it
wasn't really a thought or anything.I just went out there and made a
play for it, made a playfor the ball. Mikey trusted me as
we as you know, I'm I'mhis receiver and he's gonna put the ball
where it needs to be. I'mgonna go out and catch it right it's
in the area, So you know, I just want out and grabbed it,

(01:48):
made a play, you know. But I never thought it was gonna
come to be a one hand oranything. But you know, that was
an awesome feeling. Everybody hearing ofthe fans go out, the lights going
on in and out, and like, you know, but I was just
that that was just amazing, LikeI never felt that before. And I'll
remember that first of my life. The one thing about you is God.
First, You're humble. You knowwho you are. You practice hard,

(02:12):
you grind every day. But whatdoes it feel to be the first freshman
true our red shirt to post aone hundred yard receiving games since well DeVante
Adams in twenty twelve. That's along time. It is a long time.
Yeah, really, it's just liketo sew like I'm still young,

(02:35):
I still have time to grow andfrom that game, like I'm able to
do much more. You know, the coaches staff trust me. I feel
like they trust me well enough. In game by game, I've been progressing,
you know, so it's only goingto get better. The fact that
no other freshman or rest are freshmanhas done that and over ten years,
it's kind of, you know, surreal that I, you know, broke

(02:58):
that, and you know that's ablessing, you know, like it's guy's
calling, you know. And I'mjust here to just prosper in East and
everything I do in the field classroom. So yeah, stay faithful, stay
humble. Let's talk about this.Mikey Keen came in during the spring.
It seems like you guys have establisheda relationship. You're also here last year.

(03:20):
Talk about Mikey's progression from the springto now and how much trust you
guys have in each other and howmuch you trust in him as a leader.
Mikey's my guy. You know,we're in the same locker room,
like, you know, I talkedto him every day. You know,
it's like he's my guy on andoff the field. You know, I
can have a regular conversation with him. But you know, like coming into

(03:44):
the spring, you know, Ididn't know much. You know, I'm
the I'm everybody's looking at the receivers, right, what are the receiver's gonna
do? Yeah, you know it'syoung guys do transfers, and there's it's
a lot of question marks around stuff. I just take it upon myself,
you know, to build a relationshipwith all quarterbacks because you don't know where
was where By the season, everythingwas gonna a line to so, you

(04:04):
know, I just made it apoint of emphasis in the spring to you
know, work with the qbs asmuch as possible at least, just communicate
with them what I see, whatthey see, what I should do better
in my routes, and what Iyou know, what if he wants me
to do something different, you know, And it just came down to once
the spring was over with, youknow, we started to build a basic

(04:27):
connection. Fall Kimp came around, and you know, I'll start making plays.
Mikey's starting to trust me more, giving me opportunity balls. You know,
he's seeing that I can go makespecial plays. You know, not
not that everybody can Inny special plays, but you know, plays that you
know I can make. He knowsI can make them. So he's gonna
put the ball in the in theplace where I can get it. But
he's just a great guy. Heknows how to read the defense, he

(04:51):
knows how to make the right playsand everything. Like, Mikey's on top
of it. And you know it'sshown since game one and we've been rolling
and I just want to to grow. We're talking, so before we let
you go, there's a couple ofthings I want to ask you. One
thing I want you to talk aboutcoming in last year red shirting. Talk
about the importance of being patient, the importance of learning, understanding and waiting

(05:16):
for your time to shine, becausea lot of people could have come in
and said, you know what,I think, I'm ready, I want
to get out there, I wantto play, But you didn't do that.
You chilled. You waited. Nowis your time to shine? Talk
about that patience. It came downto, you know, me sitting down
my coach and him weighing the optionswith me letting me know, like mentally

(05:42):
physically, I'm not ready. Itook that in and I had to,
you know, take that upon myselfto make a drastic change coming into next
season. And I just I justtook it upon myself to you know,
do the things right, be likea pro. That's just what my coach
says, be like a pro.Treat everything like a pro. And I

(06:03):
just started to move as if I'ma pro, even though I'm at the
collegiate level. I started to takethings as a pro, eating the film
room, practice, weight room, like it came to little things like that,
to where coaches see that, butthey're not gonna always talk to you
about it. And then when yougoing to you going to practice, you

(06:23):
making plays, You're doing all thesegood stuff, man, And then it
comes to the classroom and you gottabe patient through that. You have to
make sure you're on top of everythingso your coaches know, Okay, if
we could trust them in a classwhom we could trust them in on the
field, it all comes into one. And what I said about the patience
and time, it's really like Ihad the opportunity to learn from older guys

(06:45):
that were here before me and havethem learn me, teach me, and
have we learned through them and theireyes and their vision. With Jake Hanner
saying po nko Eb Jalen Cropper,Jay Fell, it like those guys taught
me a lot through fall camp andI was with him for a lot of
long time. But that season Turco, it was a long season and I

(07:06):
just was able to take everything infrom film study to how different guys n
different routes, how they are ableto sell certain things, how they're able
to do certain things, make certaincatches, and I just implemented that in
my game, but also switched itup to where I feel comfortable and how
I want to do it. Imust have came time for Game one,

(07:27):
I could do it on the field. It's just east game. I was
telling myself, I had to progress. I had to I have to show
the coaching staff in the very waylike who I really am. Because I
know who I am. I justhave to show who I am to everybody.
Love it. I love that energyright there before we let you go,
I want you to talk about littlesis Jordan Mass five nine, little

(07:49):
baller from what I see. Man, talk talk to everybody about your little
sister, who I believe it isa sophomore in high school and she can
play ball. Yeah, whole familyactually years. To be honest, this
kind of crazy. She's a she'sa hooper. She she she's really nice.
She's still young, it's a crazything. She's still growing. It

(08:11):
was actually told to me after thegame that she had got offered and it
was like, wow, like youactually got offered here, Like that's actually
dope, right the first offer. And I know, like I know that
feeling you're getting offers and you wantto continue to get more and you could
do want to, you know, grind to get more. And I'm just
telling her like it's a process,but also it's a long process. Like
you're not gonna know where you wantto go right away. You're not gonna

(08:35):
know who's wanting to, who's wantyou, who doesn't You know, you
just gotta go out there and playyour hardest every time. But she she
she she has some trials to relationshipsher freshman year, you know, she
wasn't where she is right now.She learned. I had to help her
teach her through the game because I'mtelling her through my eyes at the college
level, what they're seeing at,what I'm getting at the college level,

(08:58):
and what you should be prepared aftercollege. Love when I'm trying to get
her every now, so you know, just having her following my footsteps,
but in a different sport. Youknow, on the way to you know,
you have to grind, you gottarefine, you gotta compete every day
to where where you wanna be isyou're going. You gotta get there,
no matter what happens, no matterwhat comes in your way. So I

(09:18):
just hope she continues betting, blessed, and I just I'm happy for her,
like that's my baby sister. Ilove her, and you know it's
just like su busting. Yeah,I love it, man, I love
it. There he is, JalenMoss. Love your energy, love your
passion, Love what you're doing forthese Fresno State Bulldogs rink top twenty five

(09:39):
