(00:00):
Oh my gosh, it's time forthe Katie Home and Garden Show and Robin
is going to tell us the latesttrends, the color of the year,
and everything barnuminiums. Check it outon my Data Tyson podcast. Well,
Robin, the blue bonnets are out. It is springtime. Ready to get
our houses already, and you guyshave the most phenomenal home show and it's

(00:20):
coming up, and I just Ireally wanted to talk to you to find
out what's trending, what can welook forward to, and what's something that
you know, Magnolia, that incrediblefamily would be looking at it your home
show and Katie, oh my goodness. We have so many fun things this
year. It's hard to say whatthe highlight is going to be because there's

(00:41):
so many things going on and Ihad to like make notes just to remember
to talk about everything. I'm reallyexcited about the top five, the top
five trends. As talk about thegarden zone. First, this is that
time of year everyone's thinking about whatthey should be doing in their yard and
what they can do. So wehave an amazing speaker. Her name is

(01:04):
Charlie Fisher. She's with Urban GardenProject and she will be talking about what
you should do right now for yourspring planting, okay, and all during
the show, there will be littlemini workshops in the garden zone learning how
to plant in raised beds and howyou can actually put edible flowers in there

(01:27):
too to make a really pretty display. In addition to having a garden.
So there's an akoi pond and someonewith tropical and unusual exotic plants, heirloom
seeds, there's everything in the gardenzone and the speakers on stage that you
need to get your spring garden goingright now. So we're really excited to

(01:49):
have that. It's the top ofmind for everyone. Yeah, definitely,
definitely. I mean, we allwant to have blue bonnets in our yard,
so maybe this is the next bestthing, right. I have a
funny story about that. My husbandthought he could just throw the belt and
they would just amazingly appear like theydo on the side of the road.
My husband thought, I go,Bob, you did this. Where are
they? That's where I'm wondering. It's a little bit more complicated than that.

(02:12):
I think God has something to dowith it. I don't know,
maybe maybe. So what else canwe look forward to? Oh? I
almost forgot. Also part of theGarden Zone from one thirty to two thirty
each day you have the ability tomeet Stephen Ritz. And Stephen Ritz is
revolutionizing education by getting tower gardens intoschools, teaching kids the importance of healthy

(02:38):
eating and getting them involved in thegrowing process makes such a huge difference.
And we have a tower garden alsoin the Garden Zone, and he will
be in the Juice Plus Tower Gardenbooth each day Saturday and Sunday from one
thirty to two thirty. It's reallyimpressive what he's doing. Do you need
a lot of space for this oris this something that people in maybe living

(03:00):
in an apartment. I mean,I don't know, I'm not familiar with
the tower garden. You absolutely donot need a lot of space. Think
about like a corner standing lamp, perfect and you know a few feed out
from the wall, but strictly likea tower and the plants grow from it.
And it's truly it's really nice. You can have it in the permanent

(03:21):
regular house, you can have itin a school, you could put it
outside. It's pretty amazing. Andwill you be selling the device there or
is it just she will be sellingthe device. That's excellent. That's excellent.
Good, all right, we gotour gardening. We're good. And
that kind of leads me to talkingabout selling, leads me to one of
the other things that we're super proudto have back again this year, which

(03:42):
is the Youth Entrepreneur Market. It'sKatie kids who are learning entrepreneurship from the
get go, from doing a businessplan to making their products and then bringing
it to market, filling out theapplication to apply for the show, and
all those kind of things. They'llbe out this show selling their wares each
day. That's excellent. What doyou know of any ideas of what they've

(04:04):
got. I mean, we talkabout all the time on Sunny the girl
from Missouri City who makes that hotsauce and you know now she's got her
own restaurant. I mean, sheis a phenom and I think she started
it when she was sixteen. Sowhat do you know some of the kids
that are participating what their product willbe. I do know. Some of

(04:25):
them have some crochete items, there'ssome jewelry, some have lemonade and different
food offerings, so there's a varietyof things. That's excellent, excellent,
Okay, fine beautiful indoor home trends. I'm sure that's going to be something
that you guys have out at theKatie Garden Show. Always at the Home

(04:46):
and Garden Show, there's always, you know, the bread and butter of
the show is totally the exhibitors andthe vendors and coming to find what you
want. You might not even knowwhat you want right doing in your house,
going for so kitchens and baths andoutdoor living and pools and pergolas and
papers and patios and windows and doorsand interior design. Oh, Ikea,

(05:12):
here's some great ideas. Ikea isin the show, and they are actually
the sponsor of our stage, sothey're going to be doing an amazing display
on the stage. But also theyhave Ikea Idea rooms. Two kitchens are
traditional and a modern, a livingroom and a bedroom that you can stroll
through and get some really good ideasabout the trends happening. That's excellent,

(05:34):
excellent. Okay, there is theopen concept house, and then people got
tired of the open concept because itwas too noisy. So is there any
really unique trend that we could sortof transform our homes into this spring?
After experiencing you It's funny that yousay that because the barndominiums are still such

(05:56):
a big trend and they're very muchabout open concept. And I don't completely
understand there's posts built barn dominiums andthey're still built barn and miniums. But
I do know that a lot ofbig misconception is that if you have to
have an old barn and then renovated, that's that's not that it can be

(06:17):
built from the ground up brand new. But that's also clear span. So
it's kind of weird that you knowthe open concept might be going away there,
but barn and minims are such atrend. We have the top barn
dominium floor plan designer in the countryat the show, and she will be
speaking on stage both days and alsotalking about financing. Financing is a little

(06:42):
bit different when it comes to barndominiums. We have a steel builder,
so you can talk to the likethem about the construction process. They are
very much on trend and don't seemto be backing off anytime soon. I
don't think so either. I don'tthink so. There are affordable, they
can be absolutely amazingly glamorous. Imean, it's I've seen so many.

(07:05):
I just love them so much.I look at some and I'm just like,
I want all of that now.I just need to buy some land
to put it on, I know. So what about colors. I always
like looking forward to the color ofthe year. What are we looking at
this year? I am remissed thatI cannot remember the name of it.

(07:28):
Okay, but it is like apeachy color, if I'm not mistaken,
and I'm very curious to see howsome will incorporate that into their homes,
like a coral peach or a lightpeach. Do you remember I think that's
such a happy color, coral.I'm sorry, I don't remember exactly.

(07:48):
It's a happy color. When Iwould when I was painting my nails,
I stopped doing my nails, butI would always get the coral color.
It was just like, oh,it just makes you look so happy,
you know. It's just a greatcolor, great accent this summer. I
don't know if I would do thewalls, but definitely a piece of furniture.
Maybe pillows. I always think ofpillows. Yeah, yeah, that's

(08:11):
one of my favorite things. Anythingtrending with bedrooms. I wish that I
was more on top of all ofthe trends. But that's that's really what
the show's about, is coming outand talking to the experts that are there
who can help you with those decisions, because unfortunately I spent so much time
like getting it together you're doing thewhole show and organizing that I actually go

(08:33):
to the show and start looking forthings too, so that I could be
more aware, so I'll be theredoing the same thing as the people coming
to the show. I will aswell. One year that Deborah Ford,
who is who helped hook us up, she got my son and I.
My son is a builder, andgot us on the show on one of
the stages together. We had morefun talking about I love renovating really old

(08:56):
homes, and I renovated an oldbarn that was built in like ninety teen
hundred and trust me, the barnaminiumsare much better because they're insulated, a
much better deal. I relizer thatthat was my show a few years ago,
and it was so much fun,so much fun. I highly encourage
you make the trip to Katie. There's so many great things to do around
there at spend the weekend in Katie. Tell us when the show is and

(09:20):
how what's about our ticket right,So Saturday and Sunday This Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday is ten to five and Sundayseleven to four. You can go
and look at our seminar schedule atkatiehomangardenshow dot com. We have a lot
of good seminars. We have aseminar about dog training and pets, seminar
about personal safety called how to Stageyour Home for Safety. I know that's

(09:46):
top of mind these days and especiallywomen, so there's a seminar about that.
And then the financing for the barn, dominiums, the building of the
barn andminiums and all the garden zonethings that I've talked about. It's a
lot. It's going to be sofun, so fun, so perfect.
Timing. Weather should be great, even if it's not. It's indoors and

(10:09):
you've got it right there at theIt's at the Katie Dagg Center accent Yah
off the ninety nine between Morton andClay. Very convenient and also something new
this year. We have as anartisan alie. I hand picked true artisans
who make their product. We havesome jewelry, we have plats, we
have lamps, we have an amazingpainter. So what I like to say

(10:35):
is come check out the pieces.Maybe they'll speak to you and tell you
to take them home. I loveit. I mean, we've got the
Round Top Antique week going on now, then we've got Katie Home and Garden
Show that you guys put together. There's a lot of good stuff to kind
of inspire us to make our homesjust a really inviting place to come home

(10:56):
to. Whether the neighbors like itor not, it's what we love and
I know that you will have somany great ideas. We will and so
much. Now so many people areworking from home, so it's become even
more of a sanctuary to have yourhome the way you want it when you're
there all day long. Now tooexactly. It truly can be your happy

(11:16):
place, not a place that youwant to leave and go. Oh,
you can make it absolutely inviting.Well, Robin, it's always great to
talk to you. I'm so gladwe got to catch you before this weekend
so we can get a little glimpseof what's going on. Thank you so
much. I always love talking withyou. You're right on trend and on

(11:37):
you know, you understand all ofthe home and show stuff so you really
get it. I love it soobsessed with it, I really am.
Because it makes you happy, youknow, it really does. And once
you find your style, it's likelife is good. And that's one thing
too about coming to the show whereall the different people are there. You
have so many different people to compareand see what style as you really like

(12:00):
and talk to the people that aregoing to be doing work in your home
and see who you kind of clickwith. Yeah, and if you do
get yourself a Barnaminium, you haveto take pictures send them to Sonny because
I want to see it and livevicariously through you. They are so sweet.
One days it's all right, Robin, thank you again and we'll see
you and Katie this weekend. Thankyou katieoimagardenshow dot com for abably goin to

(12:22):
