I'm not going to say the word what.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Ain't just called me anyone else, anyone whoever was pushing
the envelope like that. And I've been called a lot
of things, but that may be a first there. But y'all,
good Lord, anyone whoever listens to the show knows I
mess up on the regular. Yes, I live mess it
up exactly that way.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
It's good to see both of the good Lord. Been
a long time for sure. Yes, So what is going
on with you, sir?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
I just got home this past weekend. I was going
for ten days. We went out to uh Texas and
Arkansas and iwa. I was literally in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Thursday,
last Thursday, and and you know the Rascal flats my
you know, three of my best friends in the world,
they had their first show in Evansville, Indiana, and so
(01:08):
I didn't tell them and I got up. Me and
my buddy Kevin, who travels with me some sales merch
We got up at four o'clock that morning, drove six
hundred and fifty miles all the way to Evansville to
surprise them, and I stayed.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
With them that whole day or that evening.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
I didn't get into a little bit after three that evening,
and we stayed with them, went to the show that night,
then turned around and drove all the way right back
to where we started, all the way back to Iowa.
Was so kind a show an eye well on Saturday,
and got up Sunday morning around four point thirty and
six hundred more miles back.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
But my god, the.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Way planes are doing right now, I felt better than
to found that Honda Odyssey.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Ill you definitely rather dry. Yeah, y'all know, I don't
like to fly anyway. But it's it's good to be
back home, for sure. I'm bad. You've just been busy, busy.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
It's been really busy. Thank goodness. I've been been blessed,
of course. And the go tour is in Ashland.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
That's the paramount. Ain't that something you know? Vince Gil
told me one time.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
He said, you don't go anywhere in the United States
of America, and everybody in the world wants to play
golf with me, come to a show, he says. I
go home to Oklahoma City. Hell, nobody will show up
because that's where he's strung.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
You know, He's like everybody said, they ain't paying to
see you. He said.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
I call my buddies and say, hey, you know I'm
in town. Why don't we want to play some golf
this in the morning. Not got a got a PTA meeting.
I can't make it be Vince kill, you know, so
you always get nervous, you know when you finally get
to it'll be the first time I've ever got the
headline to Paramount. And I played it several years ago
with dare Night when Darren was in town. But okay,
(02:40):
this is a first, So now I'm super excited about
it for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
When is this happening? March first? March first, We'll do it.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
And ticket sales have just been overwhelming, you know, because
you get nervous, you know when it happens. I think
it's over over four hundred now. So yeah, that's that's cool,
And I know what.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Effect go ahead? You started?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
So I saw on social media you share a video
You're gonna actually use your show and raise some money
for people who have been affected.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
By the flood. Man.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
You know, I was I was sitting at the house
with Amanda night before last and was watching WSAZ and
it was showing, you know, the flooding and Pike Bull
and cars being swept away in the hallsimes, and you know,
several lives have been lost. And I thought, man, I
don't know that I can you know, do a show
in Kentucky and not you know, not lend something to
(03:35):
the relief efforts, you know. And I thought, what can
I What can I do? You know, I don't I
don't have Eric Church money. You know, he goes and
kills a whole new subdivision. Yeah, but I thought, man,
there's got to be something I can do. And so
I thought, well, you know, starting today, I would at
ten am this this this morning, I would every ticket
(03:58):
that was sold from this point to show time that
I would donate five dollars of every ticket that I sold.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
And then I got to think, you man, that's you know,
that's not a whole lot of money. You know.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
I felt kind of guilty. You know, of course I
got to pay the power bill at my house. So
I thought, you know, ain't nobody in this town ever
let me down. So I'm gonna make a call. And
so I called my buddy Robbie Van who's Big Sandy
and his family, and I said, hey, man, this is
the one thing about doing Robbie and I you know,
I know, just you don't have to do it. And
(04:31):
before I got the rest of it out of my mouth,
Robbie said, count of sin.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Nothing.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
So now it went from five dollars to ten dollars
a ticket. I'm thinking, well, man, that's that's that's getting better.
And I thought, well, I got a few more contacts
in my phone. Let me call my buddy, Jesse Hunt.
So I called Jesse Owns, you know Giovanni's several Giovanni's
over in Ashland. And I told him what I was doing.
And before I could get the words out of my mouth,
(04:56):
he said, I'm in.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
That's amazing. I'm in. So now we're fifteen so climbing.
I thought, well, I'm gonna roll down. I'm gonna try
just a few more. I got to keep going.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
So the next on the list, I call my dear friend,
one of my best buddies from here that I worked
with for so many years, Bill Cole Oh yeah, Bill
Cole autom All. And I told Bill what I was doing,
and of course, you know, he said, count me in.
So now we're at twenty. And I was sitting at
the house last night and Kathy Ross, the owner of
Lawrence County Recovery, she says, are you kidding? And I said,
(05:27):
what are you talking about? She said, ain't including me
in this this deal? And I said, oh, I said, Kathy,
you've done enough. You know, she bought so many tickets
for clients and to get people there that are that
are in recovery, which is a big thing for me.
And I said, Kathy, you've done enough. She said, if
I have to call a sheriff's department and find out
(05:47):
your home address, I'll I'm going to send.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
I'm jumping in on this deal. So so count me in.
And I thought that was just so so so special.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
So now it's for for every ticket that we sell
between now and the versus twenty five dollars, you know
that we can we can donate and and I I
was telling Amanda last night, you know, if it'll it
may not buy a home, or it may not be
a car, but maybe it can buy some clothes or
baby food or dipping or furniture cleaning, supply anything whatever,
(06:18):
and uh, you know, and I did have somebody on
social media go what about everybody over in West Virginia?
Speaker 2 (06:25):
And I'm thinking, are you kidding? Yeah? Are you kidding?
Speaker 1 (06:28):
There's always gonna be And I wish I could do
it everywhere, but you got to start somewhere. And uh
so we're gonna We're gonna just try to try to
work it to no end. And I can take what
money we can raise between now and when the show
is March first and give a little bit of money
to try to help those people in Pike Will.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
So that's amazing.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
I still feel guilty that I can't can't do more.
You know, Erik Church has just put us all to shame.
I know, darn you Yeah, great jeesh throwing that dude's Paul, Yeah,
incredible and he such. I remember when I was working
radio with our Heart in Atlanta. It was in two
thousand and eight, I think, and we were broadcasting from
(07:12):
an Atlanta Braves game and there was a guy sitting
over by the concession stand up on the war we
were at on the upstairs or whatever, and I asked him,
I said, who is that? And they said, well, he's
gonna be on our show. A little bit later, he
looked homeless. It was there at church and I told
my cast I said, well, he ain't never gonna make it.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Look at him.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
He just built the damn subdivision for the for the
needy people in North Carolina, and I'm trying to raise
it up money to get them water around here.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
But it's still the You know that you're giving back,
that's incredible.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Try to I'd felt kind of guilty, you know, but
looking forward to the show, it's it's gonna be a
lot of fun, you know. I tell people, I hope
it's my songs that get you there. I hope it's
my message that will keep you there, and I hope
you're inspired when you leave there, because that's what I
try to encapsulate and doing this stuff, try to make
them laugh, make them cry, and make them feel something.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
So yes, I'm really excited about it. That and tickets
are still available, crect.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
They are started today. Like I said, all the way
up to showtime. Everyone we sell, I'll be able to
take twenty five dollars for each one of those tickets.
Twint all my friends and you know, and go give
it to the people in podcast. It's the Goat Tour
March first, the Paramount in Ashland with Kletos T.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
