all of them, because you you outlasted Dan. Dan got
here when I got here eighty seven, so so, and
Kevin left. Kevin wasn't here all that long, Okay, right, correct?
So you were you were like then Kevin and I
started almost exact same time.

Oh, okay, came down from flag Staff and I came
over from California, but he left and went off to
Phoenix and I stayed.

Right, Yeah, so you outlasted Dan and you outlasted Kevin
and everybody else is kind of like here for moments.
Although although Alamita's here been here for a while.

Now, Yeah, he's gonna probably approaching twenty years.

I'm thinking, yeah, Alameda and then uh, Channel nine what's

And if you've been around, I mean they're so cost
conscious now that they don't. You know, you kind of
reach a level of pay and you know, you've been
working in the business for twenty twenty five years. You
get to a level and that's as high as you're
gonna go.

I think they'll get one right away and then maybe

at least one, right They were the favorite to win
it all, so of course so I think they're still

Yeah, I think they'll win tonight. Win tonight and see
what happens after that. That first game gave everybody hope.

Just want to tell you guys have had a couple
of great shows. Steve the last couple of days that
deal with Robbie he was great, and Reggie yesterday and uh,
but I just wanted to tell you you guys are
talking about the guys that leave town and all that,
and uh, you guys are young enough to remember. Remember
we couldn't get the highlights unless we watched Monday Night

Football with Howard co Stall and all that that stuff
back in the day.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Yeah, yeah, Well David and I talked about this back.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
In the eighties, or even with mister Who's it to
mister Owl who passed away a couple of years a day,
johncy Scott. So you said to bring the tapes back
right on the plane. Tell me, no, that was me, okay,
tell me.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Well, remember the UFA was on probation right in the
early eighties when the football team was on probation, so
they couldn't show the games live. That was one of
the one of the rules. So we were showing the games,
we were televising the games. We would record them on
tape and and then we would just fly back from wherever,
you know, La San Francisco or Oregon. So I literally
had the tapes, you know, in a suitcase with me

coming back to the to the station to get him
on the air, like a ten thirty that night, and
god forbid, the plane was late.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
You know.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I just called the station.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Going get a show, get Mash ready or some show
to go on the air because I'm not going to
make it. But that's how things were going in those years.

Speaker 8 (05:25):
Well, I'll tell you what you guys. I mean, Steve,
you know, I just moved here from California, and every
Wednesday I would get a package from my sister, God
bless her, and it was the week's worth of newspapers,
The Citizen and the Stars sports pages and the VHS
tapes of that week's game. And because I couldn't see

them unless they were nationally calvised, so she'd record them
on VHS and send them to me every Monday.

Speaker 7 (05:52):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Cool, that's how you read me. That's how you read

Speaker 8 (05:56):
Yes, I knew you and I vire yep, definitely definitely league.

That was That was some cool stuff, man, was the best.
And then and then day you were taught about Texas oil.
So my my daughters both played j C ball at
Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. And the day they
checked in, we were back in l A and they
send this picture with all this gear. I mean it

was jackets and they were Adidas, two pairs of running shoes,
two pairs of cleats, all this stuff. And I called
him back. I said, hey, I don't got to pay
for that, do I? And they're like, no, Dad, some
oil man sponsors and that's a JC.

Well, yeah, that's all.

Speaker 8 (06:41):
So you can tell the money that that flows through
for for tech and all that.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Yeah, yeah, no question. Well yeah, the guy's name there,
Cody Campbell. Did you did that?

Speaker 7 (06:50):
Name?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Ring a Bell?

And he's a major Texas Tech booster. He played football
for them and he no.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Paying the picture. Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 8 (07:00):
Can you imagine that's two million dollars? But Steve, you've
talked told me this before. What's the return on that investment?
I don't get it.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
I don't know. That's tough. Well, they were on TV
a lot to the end, so I'm sure.

That's that's just to say, Hey, I'm the one that
brought and I shoot you, what are.

You talking about? For him? Not for the team?

Yeah, I don't know, because when you have that much money,
what does a care? What do you the care if
you get an investment?

Dude, I guess. But even if you have a lot
of money, a million bucks is still a million bucks.

That's probably like twenty dollars to you and me. Huge.

But anyway, you guys have done a great job this man, honestly, Steve.

Yeah, thank you. Yeah, yeah, did you listen to yesterday?

I haven't yet because I went on the thing last
night and you hadn't boasted it.

Okay, it's on my Facebook page. I think Bill talked
about it, so I posted on his comments that it
was a good show. So I posted both hours on
that on that podcast.

Speaker 8 (07:56):
Okay, I'll jump on it because Kenny is my guy. Man,
that's great, my favorite.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
He was great. Yeah, Okay, thank you man.

Speaker 8 (08:04):
Okay, you got to take that.

You did.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
You hosted the Ludelson Camp last last year. You were
kind of the spokesperson. So Kenny was here. I think
he was here, which with Sean, and he doesn't say, Oh,
he doesn't talk a whole a lot. He's very quiet, dude.
But he was good yesterday. And you know, obviously he
was very quiet when he was here, but he's still
fantastically talented.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
He was pretty young. I mean, it was like seventeen
when he got him. He's a young freshman Chicago out
of Chicago, and you know, he kind of was overshadowed
by Sean Elliott and Steven Cook and Steve Kerr and
that whole group. And there were a lot of talkers
on that team. And you know, he was kind of like,
you know, okay, we'll go talk to Kenny.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah, you didn't get much from him. It didn't get much.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
And then he started to become quite a player, like
maybe in his sophomore year where he was really needed more.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
But yeah, he grew up.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
And I'm sure being in the major leagues where you're
probably interviewed every single day, someone's coming up to your locker,
he got used to talking. He's got better and grown up. Sure,
and you know he can handle himself.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah, no question, doing really well for himself now a
film producer. I think he's doing some films and it's
good and things like that. Helping kids play baseball, you know,
I learn how to play baseball.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Should say it's good.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
I mean again, he was a guy that came in
and we didn't know much about him, but I remember
doing some cute little stories with him just he was
messing around slam dunking.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
What was he five'?

Speaker 7 (09:31):
Ten?

No if that? Five he's out there playing, it you,
know before.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Practice he'd be out there AND i remember we did
a story with him just like you, know doing like
a you, Know kenny's greatest hits with his dunks.

Yeah it was.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Fun, yeah NICE I berinch AND i MENTIONED i didn't
cover this teams but, Him Brian williams And reggie being
some of the most physically gifted guys On loot's. Teams,
ever And luke used to rave About Brian, williams you
know by Someon delli as you know here he was
sixty eleven seven foot running the court like he did

and then he lost and, said yeah and no, question
you know they'd run sprints and guess who was number?

Kenny so, yeah and plus he had to sit out
a year. Too remember From maryland those rules back in the,
day remember that actually sit. OUT i mean that's and
that was just after the years where freshman couldn't even
play right where they played still on the freshman.

Team can you imagine That.

Kid but you know, what we don't know how good
of a kid he, is, no because we didn't have
really access to the. Kid, YEAH i mean you would
hear always a great.

YEAH i don't know he knew the sign language and
those kinds of, stories but who.

here one of the better, players but you really don't

again you're, right would you? AGREE i guess the tournament
and you know there's people that would, say are you?

WHEN i counted most, though that's the.

while there'd be some reason to go out. There and

just some player that was either coming to town or

that was worth doing a feature. On, yeah but we
wouldn't go out. THERE i, MEAN i don't think the
stations ever have gone out there to like just go shoot, highlights,
right you need.

he forever was the only Scott Stale Community college player
that ever got the big, leagues AND i got him
and he these are two. There and THEN i Got,

kenny and then that just changed my whole world because
he was such a long shot and being a basketball,
player and you had to really think outside the box.

Kenny AND i was able to take outside of the
box because he was such a great, athlete AND i
was able to convince my club to go ahead and do.
It AND i was very fortunate because you, know he
seventeen year big leaguer with twenty five hundred hits and
should be.

A i have a special relationship with my.

Dog and WHEN i went, down who was in my

Dog so he's a special guy, man and he's not
left my side since and, uh you, know on my
left side is, compromised and he licks my left, hand

and next THING i, Know i'm GOING i slipped off
of it AND i hit the. GROUND i hit my

head on the ground and it bounced like a basketball
and just AND i, went.

OH i, KNOW i cut myself.

There but then people came over and the first person
to come to me was a doctor of all, things
and they called the ambulance and got me on the
got me to a hospital and took me to a
trauma place to get me and then they end up
ended up putting me in a in a RAW bacu
meet on a helicopter to it's where my doctor was

in CASE i had a. BLEED i didn't have a.
BLEED i Was they didn't have brain. Surgery SO i
was very fortunate BECAUSE i didn't lose my. MEMORY i
never lost, consciousness you, KNOW i was very fortunate THAT
i didn't lose my.

MEMORY i IMAGINE i didn't want to lose my. Memory,
MAN i got so many stories in your. System, OH
i gotta have a.

LUNCH i, MEAN i gotta TELL i could do a

Hours, well you need to come down to here and
