All right, let's dine it dead up with golfing around hour. Hey,
I'm your caddy master. Get your cleats off the furniture.
Get your cleats off the furniture. You're moron.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
I'm Tank Tamlinger.
Speaker 7 (02:12):
Oh my goodness, are you basking in the sunshine like
I am? I call it fun shine? Fun shine, baby.
You don't get no fun shine in February unless you're
you know, one of the snowbirds. It goes down to
Florida or Jamaica. Stuck here and old Western Pennsylvania, Ohio,
(02:34):
West Virginia. We don't see no funshine. What is it?
It is March fourteenth, It's Friday today. While I record
the show, every single golf course I've passed this week
has been swamped. You would think there's a championship going
on at every single golf club in the area this week.
(02:56):
Why not? It's time to roll the rock. It's time
to let that big dog hunt. What other golf sayings
are out there? What new golf sings? Will The Happy
Gilmore Part two being released on July twenty fifth. Can
(03:18):
you let's all go together. Meet me up here in
Bridgeville at the Phoenix Theater on July twenty fifth, and
pack your lunch because I'm going to all day long.
We'll rewatch it, rewatch it. What new golf sings? Will
Happy Gilmore give us this summer Paige Sporadic rumored to
(03:40):
be you know, Happy's love interest? Who wouldn't she be
a love interest? Of all right? It is the golfing
around radio hour. There is so much to talk about,
so much to unpack. In this week's show, We're gonna
be talking about what I consider to be the very
(04:01):
best golf shoe on the face of the planet. Squares
golf shoes. You see them advertised on the Golf Channel.
You see Sir Nick Faldo John Daily as some of
their spokespeople. We'll get to the Squares golf shoes later,
but I'm telling you take it from somebody that has
(04:23):
legitimately a broken back, that needs two surgeries to fuse
it and put rods in, and won't do it. You'll
have to be carrying me. Are me crying in pain
before I let them cut me? And I steal golf?
I don't golf well, I have no rotation, but I
love going out there. And I got to tell you,
(04:45):
if you have back issues, you know how important your
shoes are to you. Squares golf shoes are the best,
but we'll get to them later. I have no back
pain while I play and afterwards with Squares, and we'll
talk about that. Of course. The big news for this
year we enter our fourth season, fourth season of the
(05:12):
Team USA Versus Team Scotland Amateur Golf Championships. Yeah, Team
USA versus Team Scotland Amateurs. That means hackers like you
and I can win a trip to Saint Andrews. You
can make your dreams come true and have your picture
(05:33):
taken on the Swilcan Bridge in front of the RNA,
just like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicholas, Tom Watson and every
winner of the Open Championship, the same bridge that Old
Tom Morris himself is reputed to have fixed on occasion.
It was originally meant to take sheep over the little
(05:56):
creek or in Gaelic Scottish you burn. It's a burn
also means creek. That's what the bridge was built for
to take sheep from one side to the other. And
it's not a big leap, but you're still gonna get
over the water. You could be standing on the swil
(06:16):
Cambridge in St. Andrews in twenty twenty six. Well, Tank,
how can I do that? That's a great question. First
of all, log onto USA Scotland Golf dot com, USA
Scotland Golf dot com, USA Scotlandgulf dot com. There you'll
(06:38):
be able to see pictures and videos of the last
several winners that have gone to Saint Andrews. And guess what.
Their guys just like you. They're just like you. They
played in one of five flights. No USGA handicap required
one to five, six to ten, get the idea, eleven
(07:01):
to fifteen, sixteen to twenty and for u ultimate hackers
we have twenty one and over. No usgagain required. Well Tank,
how's that fair?
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Well?
Speaker 7 (07:13):
Guess what? We consulted a USGA rules official buddy of
mine and he lent his expertise when we put the
rules together. You can't cheat, you can't sandbag. What you
shoot is what you shoot. That's what you score. Okay,
we don't apply any type of handicaps, simple stroke play.
(07:35):
What you shoot over two days is what you shoot.
And we have some other failsafs built in there. But
you know, we've played our national championships in my hometown
of Latrope, Pennsylvania, at Arnold Palmer's Country Club. We've been
to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and this year August twenty second to
(07:58):
August twenty fourth, we'll be in drum roll, please, Canton, Ohio.
Can't Ohio the well birthplace of pro football? I think
the well, you know, a better site. We could not
have picked a better site. Can'ton Ohio the Pro football home.
(08:20):
Hall of Fame is there in Ohio Canton. All Canton
also is known as the Ohio's Golf Capital, Ohio's golf Capital.
We'll get to the golf courses here in a second.
Opening ceremonies Friday night are at the Hall of Fame.
Then we're heading over to the brewin Kettle right there
(08:41):
behind the Hall of Fame, indoor simulators, free beers from
our beer sponsors. Great way to kick off the weekend.
Then we're playing two exceptional golf courses. Round one Saturday
is played at the Quarry Golf Course. Golfing around ranks
at the number one public golf course in all of Ohio.
(09:04):
A lot of people also believe it is the number.
You know, it's a subjective thing. But the quarry is
everything you want in a golf course. Man, go to
our website or go to Facebook, go to YouTube golfing around, TV,
radio and magazine. You can see video of the quarry
(09:26):
uphill downhill. You will need every club in your bag
during round one of the Team USA National Championship. No
USGA again, handicap required to play round number two. Well,
think of it this way. In August the Hall of
(09:46):
Fame induction ceremony. Right, you got literally one thousand nfls
in town. Wonder where they golf when they come to town?
Will they go to the quarry and they also go
to drum roll please Glenn Moore Country Club Glenmore Country Club,
(10:08):
home of a Jack Nicholas design. So we'll be talking
a little bit later about the US National Championship in
Canton in August. Why you should go. Look, do you
want to go to Saint Andrews then pay two fifty
five entry fee or play in the Pittsburgh event win
(10:30):
your trip to Gettysburg. I mean, can all right, let's
go talk to my buddy Sean over at Glenmore Country
Club Our Team USA National Championships where you amateur golfers
(10:56):
no USGA in handicap required to play in one of
five flights August to twenty five here in beautiful Ohio's
golf capital, Canton, Ohio. For you, the amateur golfer Shawn
we one to five handicaps all the way up to
twenty one and over, which is great, and they win
(11:16):
a trip to the home of golf, Saint Andrews, Scotland, Scotland.
Speaker 8 (11:22):
I think Glenmore Country Club.
Speaker 7 (11:25):
Glennmore might have a little bit of that well Scottish
hagis wrapped in its DNA.
Speaker 8 (11:33):
Some of the rooms are even named.
Speaker 7 (11:35):
After well venerable Scottish spots Turnberry Turnberry, Scottsburg, scotts This
will be our fourth year for the TSA National Championships
where amateur golfers like you compete.
Speaker 8 (11:48):
To go to Saint Andrews. No usgagain required, Sean.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
We get most of our golfers from the higher handicaps,
of course, and these guys I call it the greatest
prize in amateur golf. Playing for a golf hat and
golf tower and a plastic trophy. We are going to
take you to stand on the bridge in front of
the RNA clubhouse and it's the guys who.
Speaker 8 (12:09):
Have the fourteen handicaps that are playing.
Speaker 7 (12:13):
We are twenty one.
Speaker 8 (12:14):
And over handicap.
Speaker 7 (12:15):
Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 8 (12:16):
These guys are hackers, extraordin there.
Speaker 7 (12:19):
But to be a champion, a national champion and go
play against Team Scotland, you hit the nail on the
head there.
Speaker 9 (12:27):
Let's talk more about this back nine.
Speaker 7 (12:29):
Who when I drove around it a lot of eye
candy out there, lakes and ponds and water all over
the place.
Speaker 10 (12:37):
Yeah, I would tell you this course builds are crescendo.
You play the front side and say, no, way, that
was fun. It was good, and as you get to
the backside you're saying, uh oh, here we go.
Speaker 11 (12:50):
It's kind of like walking up a hill.
Speaker 10 (12:52):
You start and you say, well, it's not too bad,
and in that last thirty forty steps.
Speaker 11 (12:58):
You're going to okay, I'm wore out. Of course, isn't
going to wear you out, but you got to pay
attention going down the backside.
Speaker 10 (13:04):
Still a lot of room, but you have to focus
on hitting quality shot as you're coming down the stretch.
And usually with golfers, whether you're a pro or an
amateur as they get a little tired and lose a
little focus. Yep, that's when it gets on top of it.
And here you just as you, like I said, it's going.
Speaker 8 (13:21):
To build and build and build.
Speaker 10 (13:22):
An eighteenth hole here doesn't have water on it, but
you're still going to have to hit two very quality shots.
It's a stern par and you should have to earn
par on the last hole. And then you're coming in
again with this building right here. So as he goes
through this golf course, it's set up to play tournament golf,
set up to play just fun golf and member golf
(13:45):
and amateur golf.
Speaker 11 (13:47):
But visually it's stunning.
Speaker 7 (13:49):
Did you mentioned eighteen and I only drove by it
at this point it almost.
Speaker 8 (13:53):
Looks like there's a scoffish plot bunker, not just green side,
but into the green man.
Speaker 10 (14:00):
Yeah, it's the green sits over a hill in a
little valley. Everything kind of funnels into the center, and
that's great, but most of the time you're hitting a
hybrid or fairway wood or very long iron into that.
Speaker 11 (14:15):
So the SHOT's coming in low. It goes over a
little rise.
Speaker 10 (14:19):
Like I said, it's in a little valley and right
in front is this nasty venus fly trap of a
bunker that's going to gather them up. And it's actually
sixty yards from the front of the green.
Speaker 11 (14:31):
And if anybody.
Speaker 10 (14:32):
Knows to hit a ball sixty to eighty yard bunker
shot up in the air and stop it as a.
Speaker 8 (14:38):
Tough Oh, it's an easiest shot.
Speaker 10 (14:39):
And it's it's easy shot, and keep corn right cord
with that hole. Like I said, if you if you
just pay attention, you can navigate that hole.
Speaker 11 (14:51):
But you've got to pay attention.
Speaker 10 (14:53):
And as you get a little tired, or it might
be the other way, you say, I've never I've never
broken eighty before and if I make a par you
should have to earn it that.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
I love the interior as you come into the Glenmore
Country Club again, this venerable building nineteen twenty seven monastery church.
You walk inside and again, God's blessed me to go
to Scotland several times now and you've got that feeling.
I almost felt like, wait a minute, am I in Scotland.
Speaker 8 (15:22):
When you come inside, the core is amazing. Well, let's
get into the Jack Nicholas.
Speaker 7 (15:28):
Golf course here at Glenmore Country Club again a Jack
Nicholas signature course. Sean would know better than anybody else.
We're going to get into the signature holes. We're going
to get into what makes it special. But let's go
back to your comment about Mierfield and you've seen images
that Jack carried over from Mierfield here. What an honor.
(15:52):
And if you can't get on Mierfield, called big Sean here, Hey,
Glenmore country Club.
Speaker 8 (15:57):
Come stay in one of the fifty hotel room.
Speaker 7 (16:00):
The guys, the wives, whoever can go down to the spa.
Speaker 8 (16:04):
I bet you can enjoy a good Scotch here on occasion.
Speaker 11 (16:07):
For sure.
Speaker 7 (16:07):
But when you get out onto the golf course, you're
going to find Jack Nicholas, well, the Golden Bears best
here at Glenmore Country Club.
Speaker 10 (16:15):
Before I talk a little on the golf course, you
touched on it. It's private club and it's a guarded
gate community, which is awesome to come in the gates.
It's very special, but we do have stay and play here.
So as a private club in a guarded geek community,
you can call Glenmore.
Speaker 11 (16:34):
And set up a trip, whether it's just two people, whether.
Speaker 10 (16:38):
It's over three or four days, whether you come in
with twenty four people couples, you can stay and play
as we call. You see that at different facilities, it's
stay and play and we let your builder stay and
play to your liking. You can do one night in
two rounds or whatever you want to do, you can do.
(17:00):
And having the spa on other outlets here, you don't
have to leave the property. Oh so once you get
in here playing golf and we go back to the golf.
Speaker 11 (17:09):
Course, you don't feel like you need to go play three.
Speaker 7 (17:13):
Or other golf district.
Speaker 8 (17:14):
You talk into my heart right exactly. I love when
you can stay and play.
Speaker 7 (17:19):
Park the car, you got it, and I could have
some white wine.
Speaker 11 (17:23):
I can enjoy my cigars, don't have to drive golf.
Speaker 7 (17:27):
So you're saying folks can come to Going More Country
Club in Camdalisle and walk the ground.
Speaker 8 (17:33):
The jack has walked.
Speaker 11 (17:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (17:34):
And he designed it exactly.
Speaker 7 (17:37):
For the golfer, not so much.
Speaker 10 (17:40):
As to say it's going to be a built for
PG championships or built for anything specific.
Speaker 11 (17:47):
He built this for the average golfer.
Speaker 10 (17:50):
If you look on our scorecard, it says I made
a particular eighteen eighteen greens and set of holes that
championship players can play in.
Speaker 11 (18:00):
Your common average player can go out and enjoy every day.
Speaker 10 (18:04):
The thing that we say about here is we don't
we don't long to go play other golf courses. I
can play this six days a week and I never
get bored. And much like Jack's championship courses like Mirfield,
it gives you a lot of room off the tee,
which the amateurs love.
Speaker 7 (18:20):
That's Jack gives you that chance to spray it because
then you got to go work around the green complex.
Speaker 11 (18:27):
And that's exactly it.
Speaker 10 (18:28):
The eye candy is that lets you hit it out
for tegue like stadium forces. But you gotta stay away
from the sand in the water. And if you do,
you do you really know if you're you and Frank
or forty's if you want to shoot around even you look,
I live.
Speaker 8 (18:43):
In the sand in water, so I have to embrace.
There's an army saying embrace the sucker, so you have
to embrace it. You play out of sand and water.
You guys that have PGA Pro after your name, you
play in that short stuff all the time.
Speaker 11 (18:57):
You try, but.

Trend Welcome back to the golfing around Radio hour. I'm
your host, the world's greatest Randy the Tank Tannler, or
it just call me Tank. My grand mommy did and
my grand pappy did the guelfing around radio hour, Radio Hour,
Radio Hour. It just feels so good to say it again. Man,
(21:14):
it's been a long winter. Hopefully I can get this
first round of golf in next week, and it's gonna
be ugly. It's gonna be ugly, no doubt about it.
No delusions of grandeur. About two hundred and eighty yard drives.
They'll be drives of one hundred and forty yard hooks
(21:37):
and slices. Slice hooks, one of the greatest shots in
all of golf if you can pull it off the
old slice hook out there for one hundred and thirty
seven yards. Oh yeah, it's gonna be nasty. Chunks of
turf flying up in the air. Some people call them divots.
I call them runways. My old buddy, Jim McMahon, Mike McMahon,
(22:01):
I get the too confused, played quarterback with the Lions.
Does let's talk Steelers here on Fox Sports. Do it
willing with me. We're gonna try to hit the links.
It's gonna be good to get out there and swing,
get loosened up as it. Were excited about this segment.
This segment brought to you by Visit Canton, Ohio. Visit Canton, Ohio,
(22:26):
Ohio's golf capital. Head on over to Canton, explore one
of their many golf courses. Go see the Hall of Fame.
From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It's like an hour and ten minutes,
same as if you were going up in the Laurel Highlands.
An hour and twenty minutes. Get over to Canton, no
(22:49):
doubt about it. Or you can come to Canton in August.
You could play in the Team USA versus Team Scotland
Amateur Golf Championships for your chance to win the trip
to Saint Andrews, Scotland in twenty twenty six. In April, right,
(23:09):
we'll be heading back across the pond as that team,
which could be you, will play Team Scotland again. This
is our fourth season and we're so excited. I had
a lot of people tell me a couple of years
ago when I started this project, you ain't taking nobody
to know Scotland Year Bowls. You know sugar it ain't
(23:36):
gonna happen. Well's cupcake it is. We've already taken our
amateur winners to Scotland. We're heading back again in April.
Can't wait. Look if you want your chance at one
of five spots on Team USA playing the Team USA
National Championships in Canton, Ohio this August, log on to www.
(24:02):
USA Scotland Golf dot com, USA Scotland Golf dot com,
USA Scotland Golf dot com. There you'll see videos from
our previous championships. You'll see our winners in Saint Andrews
having a well dream golf trip of a lifetime. Believe me,
(24:23):
when you stand on the bridge in front of the RNA,
your legs will shake. It is hallow golf ground. You
do not need a USGA gain handicap to compete. We
have a full safe system to eliminate sandbaggers. After two
rounds in Canton, it's gonna be a great event. It's
(24:45):
only two hundred and fifty five dollars to play. That
two hundred and fifty five dollars investment gets you opening
ceremonies at the Hall of Fame, cocktail party at the
Kettle and Brew, Then two rounds of golf. The Quarry
ranked as the number one public golf course in all
(25:06):
of Ohio. Then of course the glen Moore Venerable Glenmore
Country Club. You know when the Hall of Famers come
to Canton, guess where they go play? Well, they go
play the they go play Glenmore, they play Glenmore, they
go back to Quarry. We've got the two very best
golf courses maybe in all of Ohio for this year's
(25:31):
national championship. Again five flights, one to five, six to ten.
You get it. You do not need a USGA again
handicap to play. And you ask any of our winners
and our losers that have lost in La Trobe and
Gettysburg are other national championships. This is a fair and
legitimate competition for golfers of all skill levels. And if
(25:57):
you're lucky enough like Jimmy Woolf down in the Wheel
in West Virginia area, Jimmy one in Gettysburg. He went
to US to St. Andrews last year. Him and his
uncle had a fabulous time. It's real, guys, you're doing
(26:19):
yourself a disservice not to play in the golf events.
Plus we raise money for two great charities, the Autism
Society of Canton and Near and dear to my heart
at the Green Beret Charitable Trust. It's a great weekend now. Look,
we also have local qualifiers. You gotta go to the
website USA Scotland Golf dot com check out our events
(26:40):
in Ohio, Michigan. Right we'll be playing one here in Pittsburgh.
Very excited to announce that coming up. So let's take
a little trip. Grab that driver. We're gonna bang it
down the fairway and head over to Canton. Right now,
we're gonna talk to the good folks over there at
the Glenmore Country Club, host a round two. Perfect venue.
(27:04):
It's got a Scottish feel to it. There's an armored
Knight waiting for you as you step into the clubhouse.
Right all right, let's go talk to Frank and Sean
over at the Glenmore Country Club, site of our championship
round for the twenty twenty five Team USA National Championships.
(27:58):
When you speak about well eache and prestige, when you
mentioned the name Jack Nicholas, he is the goat to me, sir, sir,
he is the goat.
Speaker 8 (28:07):
I don't want to hear about Tiger.
Speaker 7 (28:08):
I know Jack is playing with persimean head clubs and
golf balls that were hard as rocks. But I'm taking
Jack off the He's the goat.
Speaker 9 (28:17):
No question about it.
Speaker 13 (28:19):
But Nicholas and his designs, He's not only done this course,
He's done a course up north that I was accustomed
to called Barrington. And the owner that found Jack his
name was bart L. Woolstein and his lovely wife Iris,
and they encouraged him to build a couple of golf
(28:41):
courses in you know, the Ohio area, way back in
what in nineteen eighty nine.
Speaker 11 (28:46):
Is when I think they've approached him.
Speaker 13 (28:48):
And when you look out at this sety, my golf
professional can tell you about a lot more about the
golf because my handicaps too high to talk about the golf.
Speaker 7 (28:57):
Well, I actually wrote a letter of the USGA and
see if they would.
Speaker 8 (29:01):
Take it aside as forty seven, and I got an
answer back.
Speaker 13 (29:04):
You knew, well, I could be at twenty some other places,
but I'm like forty years.
Speaker 8 (29:08):
Long Glenmore Country Club.
Speaker 7 (29:12):
Well, when you speak about prestige, Jack Nicholas signature golf
course here, this is a beautiful property, but be on
the golf course, and we'll get to the golf course.
Was John later. This building one hundred years old, built
in nineteen twenty.
Speaker 9 (29:26):
One nineteen twenty nine.
Speaker 13 (29:29):
It was an old Brunderdale seminary and it's basically the
only thing that's been added on is this fall area.
Speaker 9 (29:38):
So what they did they basically got it the whole building.
Speaker 13 (29:42):
And back in nineteen ninety three when I was here
as the F and B manager, we had a roads
two floors of hotel roads, so we only had like
twenty hotel We had the clubhouse.
Speaker 9 (29:55):
Which is built you don't get to see the justice
of it.
Speaker 13 (29:59):
There's a chapel which where they used to do mass
seven days a week is out one of the most
glorious ballrooms in Northeast Ohio where we're doing up words
around thirty weddings and years.
Speaker 8 (30:13):
Are you really Yeah? We also have another.
Speaker 13 (30:17):
Turnbury room which can do two to three hundred people.
Speaker 9 (30:21):
Let's really build for.
Speaker 7 (30:22):
The conferences so we can still do conferences here.
Speaker 13 (30:25):
We have smaller meeting rooms there, seven of them, so
we can meet all their needs. And since I've coming back,
we've added on two more floors of hotel rooms, right
now we're fifty five overnight rooms.
Speaker 8 (30:40):
Oh wonderful. Tell me what the accommodations look like.
Speaker 7 (30:44):
I mean, I imagine with this beautiful building formerly the
monastery and the church within it, they've got to be glorious.
Speaker 13 (30:51):
I think they're all you know, iris'es Iris is still going.
Iris fool State is still once alive. Beautiful lady in
ninety five, and she had all the architecture designs approved
by her, and I think all of her rich traditions
is what you'll see in a lot of our hotel.
We still have some I want to say, antique furniture
(31:13):
in some of the few rooms, but still really rich.
Speaker 9 (31:16):
And look to it very comfortable.
Speaker 13 (31:19):
Sure we have a couple of suitets with the hot tubs,
and the building is so particular, so neat. There are
three personal condominiums inside where they have their own condos,
two her in the front of the building and Wanted
in the back.
Speaker 9 (31:38):
So there's a lot to do with the hotel rooms.
Speaker 13 (31:41):
And the rich tradition of looks and brings me right
to my next thing. We hardly ever shut down breakfast, lunch.
Speaker 7 (31:49):
And dinner.
Speaker 9 (31:52):
We serve food seven days a week. Three restaurants.
Speaker 13 (31:58):
I can't say it right now, but are pool whereas
another food avenue open May to September.
Speaker 7 (32:04):
Well, I swear to you before that. One of the
saddest things, you know, is when the pool closes down
for the year, the kids laughing, the splashing of water,
just you know, it makes people happy when you hear that.
And speaking of happy, you must you talk about it.
You're always busy here. People are coming for lunch, dinner
and the golf and staying here. I spoke with some
(32:25):
of your members out there and a lot of times,
and you know this, you've been in the industry for
a while.
Speaker 8 (32:30):
Members can be a little bit salty and crusty.
Speaker 7 (32:33):
Your members are all happy, the least the ones I
met out there.
Speaker 9 (32:37):
Oh yeah, they're all sitting right there.
Speaker 13 (32:41):
Some of them been here since I was here in
ninety three, so I'm back to see them.
Speaker 9 (32:45):
It's kind of cool.
Speaker 13 (32:46):
Well, that's my members here when I was in ninety
three to ninety seven. They're still members, still enjoying their
clue golf and their lunch and their drink and their dinner.
And you know, we have a lot of new members
to us. When it's a great membership.
Speaker 9 (33:02):
We're about three hundred and seventy members here a Glenmore.
We're always looking to find more. There's always room to grow.
Speaker 7 (33:10):
Well, the fact that they're still here from the early
nineties when you first opened up speaks of volumes to
you know.
Speaker 8 (33:17):
I'll use the word family feel so far. When I
went into the pro shop, the guys were friendly. All
your members have been friendly.
Speaker 7 (33:25):
There's a family feel here. Well.
Speaker 9 (33:27):
I think that comes from the top down.
Speaker 13 (33:30):
Bart and Iris always believed in trying to promote within
in keeping people. You know, I left here in ninety
seven to go to another property, and I still have
been with family ever since. And I was encouraged to
come back when the last manager it's time from retire.
He didn't quit time from retire. And you'll see most
of my staff.
Speaker 9 (33:51):
My HR person, her name's Pat.
Speaker 13 (33:55):
She was my supervisor at well, I was her super
as you're back in.
Speaker 9 (34:00):
Ninety three to ninety seven.
Speaker 13 (34:02):
She's still here, Pat still, Pat's still here now she's
just running the human resource department.
Speaker 9 (34:08):
So it is kind of like a family. It might be.
Speaker 7 (34:11):
We're not dysfunctional.
Speaker 9 (34:12):
We have a good time when we're here. I love that,
you know, maybe a little bit dysfunctional.
Speaker 8 (34:18):
That's okay though.
Speaker 9 (34:19):
You know, like you said, it's important to have fun
doing your job and be happy what you're doing.
Speaker 13 (34:25):
And I'll tell you give it the opportunity to come
back here. It's been spectacular for six months.
Speaker 7 (34:31):
Listen, I've got a bad back.
Speaker 8 (34:33):
You didn't know that, did you?
Speaker 13 (34:34):
No, I didn't, but I got the perfect treatment for you.
Speaker 8 (34:37):
What is that one of.
Speaker 9 (34:39):
My three great massage the therapist. Yes, because we have
a spall.
Speaker 13 (34:45):
That not only you gonna get a massage, facial nail's done, hey, pedicures,
manicures here, salon, and then once you get your backpack
in place, the weight room is.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
That question?
Speaker 9 (35:03):
Probably one of the best around for lifting weights.
Speaker 13 (35:07):
Plenty of cardio down there. We have five treadmills, two
art risers. I think that's a term you can tell.
Speaker 9 (35:16):
I get down there a lot, so six or seven
rowing bikes.
Speaker 13 (35:21):
So everything from cardio to fixing that back and getting
you to do some stretches and having one of our
therapists work with you.
Speaker 7 (35:29):
This is a beautiful Jack Nicholas design golf course. When
we talked to Sean later, he's gonna drop the word
mirfield and when you drop the word merfield, you better
back it up with some quality golf. But so you
have a wonderful Jack Nicholas design course. This beautiful, architecturally stunning,
just gorgeous building with so much just history going on,
(35:53):
but the fact that there's a light ambiance, feeling of
friendliness and family, that's a really unique combination.
Speaker 9 (35:59):
We tried to make sure every members touched three to four.
Speaker 11 (36:04):
Times in their visits.
Speaker 13 (36:05):
We believe that, you know, every guest is a potential member,
so we put our best foot forward every day and
the only thing we try to do I got it
hung on my wall, is just to be a little
bit better than you were the day before.
Speaker 8 (36:24):
That sounds like something Yogi Barah would say.
Speaker 9 (36:26):
Yeah, I don't know. It's been an interesting couple of
years for me. Let's just say that it's good to
be above ground and still be able to smile.
Speaker 13 (36:35):
Amen, Amen, and work here at this fabulous club, and
hopefully I have the opportunity to retire here in five years.

Welcome back to the Golfing Around Radio hor I'm your host,
Randy the Tank Tantlinger excited for golf season to start.
I know, you guys are. The courses were packed last weekend.
I couldn't even so busy, couldn't even make it to
a driving range. But a few short weeks, all right, them
(38:59):
they're pros. They've already been playing. Why I've been languishing
for around in Jones and here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We're
gonna get into some equipment review conversations now. I gotta
be honest, Like a couple of years ago, we got
sent these golf balls from a Korean manufacturer, Saint Cloud
(39:20):
or something. They had these cute animals on them. Just
garbage golf balls. I mean, just I can't even explain it.
They were garbage Saint nine, that was them. You saw
them in every clubhouse for a while. They're junk, man,
You're wasting your money on any level. On any level,
(39:41):
it's like hitting a brick. I mean, just got awful.
And one of the things that has really annoyed me
in today's golf market, you got to take a step back. See,
golf's exploded since COVID globally. Globally, there's been at least
(40:05):
a twenty seven to thirty percent increase in golfers. Those
are big numbers. I mean when you already had thirty
two million people golfing, men and women and children in
America and you tack on twenty seven percent more new golfers.
It's a lot of golfers. It's great for the game.
(40:26):
Love it, new golfers. You're welcome to play as me anytime.
Just invited a new friend. He said, I don't even
have a golf clubs. They said, I don't care. I
got an extra bag. I said, if you hit the
ball two feet, we get to drink. If you hit
it forty feet, we get two drinks. That's kind of game.
We'll play that day and have some fun. But what
(40:48):
gets my goat is this. There's always a snake oil
salesman somewhere, isn't there. I bought it heater a couple
of years ago, supposed to plug in the wall and
fill up the whole room. He stole my twenty five dollars.
Shame on me. There's so many crap clubs coming out
(41:12):
now is what I want to get to junk garbage.
They can sell them on Facebook pop up ads and
the price is always right, the price compared to a
Cobra driver compared to a Cleveland shricks on wedge compared
(41:35):
to tour Edge. Well, anything by tour Edge, trust me,
take it to the bank on tour Edge, anything by
ping PXG. But these off brands, and one thing that's
happened is they've taken old names like lam that your
(42:01):
grandfather knew O R L I M A r or
Lamar O Lamar very popular at one point, they really were.
They were decent clubs back in the day. But the
(42:22):
brand has been sold. It's been sold. Heul Rico Trading
Company owns it. Let's see where old hul Rico is
out of huh herel Rico Golf bought the brand. Think
of it this way. When you go to Wendy's, you
(42:43):
expect that a Frosty's gonna taste like a Frosty. You
expect that a Wendy's triple is gonna taste like a
Wendy's triple, and an old Baconator baby tastes like the Baconator. Well,
the folks at here Rico h I R E Ko
(43:05):
Golf Clubs are betting that the name they bought from Olamar.
And we'll get into their other brands will carry the day,
will carry the day. These clubs won't even carry the
water in front of you. These clubs won't even carry
(43:27):
the trap in front of you. Their garbage, their garbage.
Now they do put some of the best grips on
these garbage clubs, Golf Pride Superstroke, when of course they
(43:47):
got a grip called Karma that they make. But I'm
telling you, it upsets me to no end that all
these junk club manufacturers are coming out because you guys
(44:07):
that are new to the game that twenty seven percent
internationally worldwide. You see it putter a Cameron, let's just
say two hundred dollars, and you go to the h
I R e Ko golf dot com website and you
(44:31):
see a bionic golf assembled red potter for thirty eight bucks,
and you don't live in no mansion, and you buy it.
Beyond it, you bought junk.
Speaker 14 (44:48):
How about the Dinercraft driving iron, how about the Intech
Approach two way chipper for seventy dollars.
Speaker 7 (45:00):
Any golf protel, you get a seven iron, I'll show
you how to make magic around the greens. Don't grab
your pitching wedge, grab your seven iron. Well you can
pay seventy bucks for the piece of junk in a
tech approach to weight chipper. I know I demoed one
(45:21):
of them a couple of years ago. I've been kind
of like looking at their stuff the last couple of years,
and every single time I had nothing nice to say,
like the driver they sent me a couple of years ago,
by Power Built, power Built. Don't they make tools, Yes,
(45:42):
they make tools that power built well. Somehow power Bilt
makes golf clubs. Now the shaft underneath the grip broke
into a four rounds junk garbage. But had you paid
(46:07):
for the air attack by power Built, you would have
paid ninety dollars plus shipping and handling. How about the
Power Built Series eight hundred putter for fifty bucks probably junk.
All the other stuff's junk. Or you can get yourself
(46:31):
and invest four hundred dollars in a pair of irons
by power Built. Now, Dear new golfer, dear friend, I
want you to enjoy the game. I want you and
I to go golfing someday. I want you to love
the game. I don't want you to get frustrated because
(46:52):
you bought a cheap piece of junk from Hyreco Golf
that makes Olamar power Build, because that's what's gonna happen.
You think you're saving money by buying junk clubs by
(47:13):
power Built. All of them are in tech Night. I
don't you know what night is. Let's see Night. It's
on the h I R. E. Ko Golf website. See
what this piece of junk is. Oh the Night Too
saw me driver sixty nine. The Night Too saw me
(47:40):
as a stylish driver for beginning golfers at an affordable price.
See this is what I'm talking about. I'm on their
website now. The four hundred cc volume maximum strength allowed
by usg It stills confidence. No it you know what
it does. It steals your money and you're not gonna
(48:00):
love the game and you're not gonna stick with it. Again,
you're listening to the golfer around radio hour. I like
to keep things positive, but again, with all new golfers
out there, I want you to love and enjoy the game.
I see so much junk clubs coming over because they
(48:28):
can market it to you. You know, a guy starting out,
maybe he's trying to feed his family. Oh the Night
Too saw me for seventy bucks. I'll buy it that
he never plays after the first year again. How about
(48:48):
the O R L I m Ar Olamar big brand.
Back in the seventies, somebody bought the name Olamar Golf
Intercept single length irons two ninety nine, three forty nine
brand new. What's it come with? One, two, three, four, five, six,
(49:16):
seven oh seven irons like it should? Right? Did ladies go?
Please do not buy junk clubs from H I R
E Ko Golf, whether it be Olamar, night in Tech.
(49:41):
Let me let you in on a secret. There's all
kind of companies out there and on Facebook used pin clubs.
Guys are always selling used clubs at good prices. Go
get a pair of tour Edges, irons a set, Go
(50:03):
get a U set of Pings. You'll love the game.
Callaway p XG all the major clubmakers. Find that Tommy Cameron.
Don't buy the junk in a Tech for fifty bucks,
You're gonna hate it. Don't buy the power Build driver
for seventy you won't fall in love with the game.
(50:28):
Go find seek out research Cleveland tricks on Ping, tour Edge.
I can't say enough about tour Edge, Cobra Golf Odyssey Potters.
(50:49):
I can't get off my odyssey Putter, Edison Wedges, Cleveland
tricks anybody but con Ar.
Speaker 15 (50:57):
Just like h I R E k O Golf, They're junk.
You won't fall in love with the game, You'll quit.
Speaker 7 (51:10):
And we'll lose you. You're listening to the golfing around radio hour.
I'm your host, Randy the Tank Tatler. And again, I
love to keep positive because I love our game, but
I can't stand snake oral salesman. I just can't. Let's
see what they sell their golf bags for. I mean,
if they're giving a golf bag away, but I'm
Speaker 14 (51:33):
Not even the Power built USA flag Kirk golf bag
one hundred and fifty bucks
