two inch cross laminated white oak, nice solid white oak,
and which is no you know, walking apart to carve
and with chainsaws with tips of the bar the size
of a dime. Uh, And he just works a miracle.
(02:03):
So that we're we're co labbing down here with our
with our lift company, Dino Lift. So you see that
big white and red lift that we have that goes
out into your yard with no impact. We are upgrading
to a ninety two footer and our lift, our new lift,
is on the floor here. And so on Friday, we're

I just like seeing what you guys are up to
and it's always always a fun experience for folks. Definitely
want to do that. So Kevin, while you're down in
Saint Louis. The work doesn't stop. I'm not to say
that you're not working down in St.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Louis. I know you're working very hard down there.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
But locally, crews are still out and about getting things
taken care of this week, aren't they.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yes, they are. We've got some renewed We just did
a storm job that wasn't current. It had been sitting
on the shed for some time, but I think they'd
finished that up yesterday. We're doing removals, pruning. All of
our plant healthcare I believe is fulfilled. ELI ran out
and did some late comers last week. We still have
(04:19):
time to do chlorosis treatments or you know, soil injected
insecticides for Japanese beetle or bronze birch boor and those
can also be done the Japanese beetle in bronze birch
border it can be done in the spring. But our
(04:41):
chlorosis treatments that's kind of a fall activity, so we
still have some time. This November weather is incredible.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
It is. It's crazy incredible.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
It's really it's been super super nice with that and
Kevin one thing too. As we kind of get into November,
as we are into November right now, people should realize
hams Arborcare.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
You guys do work a year round.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
It's it's not like this time of year you're you know,
guys are guys are taking the winter off, a couple
of them converting over to to plow drivers and and
that kind of thing. You guys are doing treecare and
tree work all through the winter months, all through the summer,
on spring and fall as well. You guys never slow
down at Ham's Arborcare, do you no? It?
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Sometimes? You know, I can't guarantee that we ever do
this again, but we did take down a big oak
tree one day while it was snowing four inches of
blizzard basically, and the guys weren't real happy. You know,
it's not like rain, but still by the end of
the day you're wet. Yeah, and it's colder than rain. Yeah.
(05:46):
But yeah, we work all through the weather, brushing off
the branches and lim walking the frozen.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
And Kevin, when you mentioned too, as we talk this
morning with Kevin Ham of hams Arborcare the website hams
Arborcare dot com.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
That's h A. M.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
M as Arborcare dot com, as you mentioned this weather,
I didn't notice. Ground is still plenty soft. Does that
mean you guys are able to put trees and other
things in for folks right now?
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yes, we can.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
In fact, I think we still have some plantings on
the docket that they're probably last week was a big
planting week. There may be some going in this week,
and so yeah, we definitely can put them in. Fall
is a great time. We're going to get some fall
you know, moisture probably, and then through the winter they
(06:33):
they overwinter. I mean it can overwinter in our yard
or they overinter in your yard, it's no different. And
then in the spring when you have all that spring moisture,
they're off to a roar and start.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
I was going to ask you about that for folks
that are saying, you know what, over the winter, maybe
good time to start those conversations and that consultation spot.
Maybe they've got a spot on the yard they're thinking,
this is perfect to get this done. Maybe not time
this fall, but we'd like to get something put out
there in spring. It's a great time too, as you
talk about kind of getting on the schedule. And I know,
obviously winter months are fantastic for tree care and taking
(07:07):
care of those established trees and getting a really good
look at how they're growing and developing right now as
well as looking towards spring, is a great time to
be thinking about tree planting, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yeah, definitely. You know, our winter stumps once the ground
is frozen, we don't you know, there's rocks and stuff
around the stump that we usually get moved, and so
we don't grind stumps once the ground freezes, and so
we have, you know, a backlog of stumps in the spring,
and a lot of those stumps are associated with plantings.
So then the tree goes on the truck with the
(07:39):
stump grinder, and the tree gets and the stump gets
ground and the tree gets put in the ground the
same day.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
New spot for new tree and the old spot. It's
just just destely fantastic.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, and we can plant right on top of.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
A previous stump, oh, like the same location, Like we're
not going a.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Couple of locations east west.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Wow, Well that is cool here, I did I guess
I didn't realize that. I always assumed I knew you
guys did a really you know, do a real detailed
job when it comes to stump grinding and removal. I
didn't realize though, you could actually go right to that
same spot. And you think about folks who maybe have
had that had that tree. Maybe there was like a
you know, like those soft silver maples or something else
there that finally had to come down, you.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Know, those reividual roots. Yeah, the avenues, the other roots follow.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Oh, they followed. They'll just kind of go right through
like a little highway there.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
There's an apple tree root system out west in a
museum that has a man's name, and it's in the
shape of the man. What because it followed his bone,
Oh my gosh, and fed off of the bone, and
it's literally in the shape of a human. It's an
apple tree.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Really well, again, Kevin, every time we talk, I learned.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
I learned many new things.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
And oftentimes it's it's stuff that I get off the
get off the show in the morning and I head
back to the computer and track down and even read
up and watch more because I almost feel like we
kind of just scratch the surface.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
And that's one of those things too.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
As we talk with Kevin and we talk about some
of the really cool things that Kevin shares with us each.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
And every week.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
