Speaker 1 (00:00):
See if that works and there we go. Kevin, how
you betting man?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Good?

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Good, good, Yeah, our phones were doing some weird stuff there.
Thanks for thanks joice this morning. You are not on
a beach this morning, as far as I know. And
you are not plowing driveways this morning, are you.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
No? And no one's plowing driveways. We've got no snow.
But we do have good ice, yes, and and so
we're you know, we've got a few jobs that are
close to shore lines. And if if you have a
job that's hanging over the lake or there's something like that,
you know, good ice is you know, convenient, Yes, at time,

(00:40):
so that would be a call to action. We have
actually some stumps on an island, oh Fox Lake, and
we'll be we'll be taking care of those. We usually
don't grind in frozen grounds, but you know, when when
you need frozen ice to get the machine out there,

(01:01):
we're going to grind. And it does grind frozen ground.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Interesting. Yeah, you had mentioned that the grinding out on
an island is I know you've in the past, during
summer months have used barges and other things to get
out get out to some of these these harder to
reach locations on water. But I guess I hadn't thought
about the convenience of the natural ice bridges that are created.
Do you guys do and I know what, you do
a lot of work around Lake Wisconsin and obviously here

(01:28):
in Madison around the lakes as well. Do you guys
get a lot of work this time a year for
folks saying, you know, this has been something that we've
needed to address, and because of the finally getting some
nice hard ice, it's it's a good time to do that.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, it is the perfect time to do it. And
you know, like last year we never did get good ice.
Twenty twenty two, I remember having, you know, very thick ice,
and that we had some big cottonwood that we basically
dropped the trunk on the ice ice didn't even crack it,

(02:02):
and well it may it may have fractured it in
some way, but there wasn't visible water coming through anywhere.
So Yeah, the ice can be very convenient for things
that are hanging over the shoreline. It's just stuff we
would normally have to rig or try to avoid the
water or get wet it just with the ice you

(02:23):
can get there, it rakes up nicely. A little hazardous.
There's no snow or anything, no traction. We got pretty
slippery ice this year, but we can put the cleats
on and get around just fine.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Oh well of the yeah, I guess your tree climbing
shoes probably grip ice pretty good.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah. Well, spikes don't work really well because they don't
necessarily stick below the grade of your shoe. But we
put we put on the little, you know, rubber gloshes
with the spikes on the bottom. Ice fishermen.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
You Oh, fantom, I was going to ask you as
far as like, I know, there's everything's rules in regulars,
and I know that's a big part of the training
that you guys do at Ham's Arborcare is understanding. I
know you you are always continuing education. Are there like
special rules for for like if you're felling a tree
onto ice, or like the clean up process for things

(03:16):
like that. Is it a little bit different when you're
working over water.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Well, mostly in most locations within thirty five feet of
the shoreline, you've got to get a permit, you know,
to remove it. You know, if it's a dead tree, yeah,
you know, it's a dead hazardous tree next to the water.
It is what it is, but a lot of times

(03:43):
in along the river way and they want you to
plant a tree somewhere else, okay, taking a street away
from the shoreline.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
If only we knew somebody who could plant trees only Yeah,
which is by the way, as we as we talk
about that, I know, these cold months, as we think
about think about spring as always, and we think about
having our trees checks. A great time to have your
tree inspected winter months, but it's also when you got
a little free time. It's a good time to think

(04:13):
about planting. And I know we talked about legacy and
other great things that you guys have at Ham's Arborcare
for folks that are thinking of, you know, thinking spring
and something to kind of look forward to warmer temperatures.
Nothing better to put your mind in that mindset than
thinking about where the perfect tree would go on your property.
And of course Kevin the team at Hams Arborcare love
to help you with that. I got to pick up phone,
give a call eight six six five nine six five

(04:35):
three nine six. That's eight six six five nine six
five three nine six And talking about all the benefits
of Ham's Arborcare. One of the areas that is probably
for folks that may be new to the program a
little surprising. You can help people smell good and get clean,
can't you, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Yes, you know, I'm actually sitting and looking at my
my bioleshart kiln Oh yes, routine every morning, get it,
get a batch going, and and we get a couple
of batches each day. So uh yeah, the biochar body
barn shampoo. We're capturing that carbon and then putting it

(05:13):
in a in a product. And we have you know,
we utilize biochar in treatments of trees. So we've got
some some of our own product now that we've put
together for our chlorosis treatments, and we're gonna be doing
some lawn applications which kind of enhances everything you're doing

(05:34):
to your lawn. We can put down, uh you know,
peer activated charcoal on the lawn, and you know, being
at that it's at the surface, it will quickly get
charged because it's you know, there's a positive negative ion
attraction there and at the surface there's just so much

(05:55):
going on. You know, the next lightning storm is going
to charge it with night gen and and there's other
organic matter at the surface, and it's not in direct
contact with the roots until you know it will get
worked down into the soil as the areate and do
different things to your lawn and the worms and so forth.
But it's it's a perfect way to enhance everything you're

(06:18):
doing to your lawn is get activated charcoal down on
a broadcast level. So being that we're making our own
that makes it very feasible to provide that service.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
So it's it's it's a pretty amazing product. And you know,
having it learned from you over the years a little,
I know that there's way more than I understand. But
what an amazing additive for your soil and of course
for your trees and also with the with the body
and soap wash great for your body as well. Smell great.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, sure people are really liking that.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yes it is.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
You said somebody, we have a Bogo sale and she
bought ten no whichhaver, which gave her twenty yes, which
got her over the free shipping. So that was a
good play.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Oh, that's very smart on on on her part. And again, uh,
you mentioned the buy one, get one at gameoftrees dot com.
That's Game of Trees dot com. If you haven't tried
the Uh, the biochar body soap. Uh, it's it's we've
talked about how clean you get. It gets squeaky. Literally,
if your skin gets squeaky clean, you smell great. Uh

(07:27):
And uh it's I Autumn used to talk about you
could use it to remove like the eye line, and
I'm I don't wear eyeliner, so I don't know this,
but apparently it's a it's a very difficult thing to
remove and should it just came right. I thought, Oh,
how cool is that?

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Greasy hands hands? My son in law goes, hey, you
want to make a video? And I didn't take the advantage.
I didn't quite get what he was saying. But he
wanted me to show him washing the oil off his
hands with this soap and it takes it off.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Wow see.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
And he went from greasy, you know, oily hand from
changing oil on the car.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
And it's a really amazing product. That is I hadn't
thought about that. I'm gonna have to. As I order
semi regularly, once every month or so, I buy a
few more bars and my next order, I'm gonna have
to add an extra bar, just one to keep near
the shop, just for washing my hands. There generally put
him in the just put him in the shower, but

(08:22):
I have to put one in the shop as well,
so I got You can order those online game offtrees
dot com. That's gameoftrees dot com. Buy one, get one
going on or right now. Definitely do that. As Kevin
mentioned too, if you if you buy a few bars,
get a discount as well. And actually you can reach
free shipping as well. You can learn more all about
that online game offtrees dot com. We're talking about some
of the work that Kevin and the team at hams

(08:43):
Arborcare do this time year. It is a great time
of year. If you've got a tree that you haven't
had checked out recently, it's a good time to have
Kevin and the folks out from hams arborcare to give
you that inspection on your tree. Also, if you've got
those those projects that may be a bit challenging. Kevin's
the guy that folks I don't really call for this very
reason is whether it's on the on the lake shore,
the uh, very difficult to reach. I know a lot

(09:06):
of folks really like working with you. And again the
regular running the middle kind of projects, the trimming and
the planting and all that kod stuff. So well, Kevin
and the team. They would love to talk to you
this morning.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
