a couple of one, two three four five. I think
I might leave you to the other Mica. I think
I will. Yeah, I think that's a better.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Mind one two three four one two one or two
one two three four?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Is this better?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Is that too loud?

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Okay, I'm turning it down now. Oh yeah, if you
push it.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
All the way, it will stay.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I got it perfect, perfect.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
All right.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
I I really was going to be ready.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Totally was.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I was the one that didn't show up yesterday, so
I deserve at least this.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
No tell me again your title whatever you want to be.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Told the spokesman. That's fine communication, Yeah, spokesman for the
city of La Vista's just fine.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Okay. Well, I don't really need too many notes because
you're gonna okay, make sure that this is recording check
one two three, okay, Okay, here we go in three
two one. Hi, It's Lucy Chapman, and I definitely have
hears more for you today. In fact, it's a whole
lot more of what you have been hearing me talk about.

(01:31):
With Lavista days coming up on Friday the thirtieth in
La Vista, I could tell you so much about this event,
but I won't. Now, hang on, it's gonna be okay.
I've got Mitch Beaumont here. He is a spokesman for
La Vista. He knows it a lot better than I do. Mitch.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Welcome, Lucy, thanks for having me again.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, this is a lot of activities going on for
Lavista Days and it just gets bigger and bigger every year.
So what do you got going on this year?

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, so we're really excited to have our Ani celebration
where we get to celebrate our community Friday night, May thirty,
free concert at the Astra Amphitheater and that also includes
some activities in the plaza and then the fireworks and
drone show.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
What's the plaza park?

Speaker 2 (02:16):
The ninth Plaza is right next to the Amphitheater gates.
So if you've ever if you've been to a show
at the Astra Amptheter, you know exactly where that is.
It's got some slides and some tables.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Oh very fun. I've been there and I've missed it. Well,
I would have to pay more attention to my surroundings.
So but people will be able to see it. There
will be lots of signs if they want to go
on into that area.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Absolutely, so there's no need for a ticket to get in.
Astra obviously has a clear bag policy, so people will
need to adhere to that. No lawn chairs. So we've
got Women of Rock and Venture Boulevard playing Friday night.
Women of Rock take the stage at seven o'clock and

(02:58):
Venture Blevard at eight, and then the fireworks and Droneshow'll
be at nine.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Thirty over at Park Ventura Boulevard. I'm assuming an America
tribute band, kind.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Of the Tom Petty tribute tribute band.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Oh right, okay, there were Yeah, he did a Ventura
Boulevard song and so did America. Okay, so I'm saying
if I want to leave that in or cut now,
I'm leaving it. I'm leaving it because a lot of
people thought that too, exactly. Okay.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, So Friday night's real fun. There's we'll have some
food trucks around. You can also get food inside the Amphitheater,
but admission entrance is all free and it will be
a good time. Last year, but last year is the
first time we did that and we had a really
great time. The forecast is looking fantastic, so we hope,
we hope we fill.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
The amphitheater thence Nebraska, so to have a great forecast
in May June. Yes, this is the great news.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
I'm running with it.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
You know, speaking of just off the topic a little bit. Yeah,
they I was. I looked at Channel six's website today
and there meteorologists were talking about cold cycle.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
I saw that cold funnels.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Cold funnels. Yeah, that's crazy. They don't alert you about
it because it's usually touched it.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
It's not a big deal. But how weird is that?

Speaker 1 (04:11):
All right? So enough about the weather. Tell me about Saturday.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Yeah, Saturday starts at ten am. We have a parade
along Park Few Boulevard. Parade will go until about eleven thirty.
You will be joining us for the parade.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
I always love this. This is my third year, I.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Think third year, your third year.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I love it. It's so much fun to talk about
what the floats are and to go off script that
you are so kind to let me do that. I
go off script, and yeah, okay, I always stay on script.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
You do sometimes every once in a while, if I'm lucky,
when I notice you're not paying attention, he's not listening.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Have at it.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
So after the parade, we have a community cookout and
really the festival ground going at that point. Saturday we
term a free family festival. So other than food trucks
and beer garden and bingo cards, the day is free.
So all activities, all games, and the community cookout are
all free, even the food. Even the community cookout is

(05:20):
a free lunch right after the paride that's free as well.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
That is so amazing. How now, how can love us
to do this? What are how are the what are
the sponsors for this?

Speaker 2 (05:28):
So we have a ton of sponsors, including our presenting
sponsor this year, which is kell Ogg Credit Union. Could
not do this without them, Fireworks, Drone Shows, Riady and
Credit Union our Saturday sponsors UH for the parade, Access Bank,
Five Points Bank, Yahoo, Cobalt, HDR. I mean, they're all

(05:50):
all these companies here in the Omaha area kick in
and help sponsor parts of the day. And it's it's
our priority priority at the city to provide free family
fun At the city. We talk a lot about having
having focus on small gestures and big ideas. So those
big ideas are you know, the gigantic economic development. You know,

(06:13):
whatever the small gestures are is levis to face and
making sure that as much as it possibly can be
free is free. And that's our priority and we'll do
it every year.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Would you guys always do such an amazing job and
people show up, they show this.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yeah, we work, We work a long time and really
hard on this and I know a lot of our
staff they take a lot of pride in this weekend.
So in addition to the cookout, we've got games and activities.
We have inflatables, we have a phone party, we have
face painting, we have a climbing wall. We have a

(06:51):
bingo tent, so that's new this year, and we added
a bingo tent. All twenty five cents of card. All
proceeds good to moving veterans forward. Well, donate everything that
we take in that day to them. We also added
pickleball tournaments fun inside of the community center. The adult
tournament is full, but if they're standing teens out there
who are interested, there's plenty of room in that tournament.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
That sounds like a lot of fun. And that's a
two dayvin that's Friday and Saturday.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
So that what are you doing that is all Saturday.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
That's all Saturday. But well, the concert.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Friday, Friday is the astro. Saturday is at City.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Hall, okay, and then so the festival for the family
that's just on Saturday and nothing on Sunday. This correct,
That's and that's kind of the way it's always.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Been, not not always, it's not always.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
The history of Visit to Days. Come on, you're here.
He came all the way down here, Lucy.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
This is my fifteenth.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
So he took some time off for COVID. Not one
year because you want to do just one year.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
One year off, yes, So a little bit of history.
We used to do Live Us to Days down in
Central Park carnival. It was the traditional carnival. We did
some stuff up at City Hall, but it was four
days in carnival rides. In twenty twenty, we had planned
to do a completely revamped festival on the City Hall
grounds for a variety of reasons. COVID obviously next that

(08:11):
in the butt pretty quick. In twenty one though, we
had our first festival up on the City Hall grounds.
We did that in August because of some other things
that took place that may. But ever since then we've
been up on the City Hall campus. And if you
think about what a small Town Festival looks like I
think Hallmark Channel, less scripted, less cheesy. That's what we want, Livius,

(08:34):
Today's to be.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
No, I want more cheesy.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
I love cheesy, and you know cheesy cheesy makes you
feel all warm inside.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, I'm thinking of the Gilmour Girls and some of.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
The hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yeah, yes, that's exactly what I want. And that's why
I love, love, love being a part of this every year,
because it is just that the community, that the family
is there, and if you're in I guess if you
live in a world, I guess you can come.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I guess, yeah, definitely, anybody's welcome, exactly. We don't want
people to walk around our festival and feel nickel and dimed. Right,
So there's vendor booths you can walk around, but to
enjoy the festivities and the activities, you don't have to
pay anything if you don't want to.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
And that's kind of why I asked about the history
of Lavista Days because there might be some people say, well, yeah,
it used to be much but it used to be
also very much more expensive for you to bring the
family all day long and enjoy this.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Yep. So you know, you go to a carnival. You're
gonna buy, you're gonna pay. I don't know what it
is thirty forty bucks for wristband nowadays?

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Probably right?

Speaker 2 (09:38):
And in La Vista, we want our events to be distinctive.
We want our community to be distinctive and to offer
something that every other community offers. Doesn't do that right,
and we want we want La Vista to stand out
for everybody in the metro area. We want our residents
to be proud to live in La Vista, and we
want others to want to live in La Vista and

(09:59):
to want to be part of our community.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
It's a beautiful community. I love it. It's right up
there at the top. Well, like maybe there's you know,
my community. It might be just above it, although I
don't know so much right now. But it is a
beautiful community and I enjoy being a part of that.
Mitch Beaumont, the spokesman for La Vista Days. What else
do you want people to know? Maybe parking?

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, parking on Friday night in city center is also free,
so we wave the fees on our parking garages and
there's a new surface lot up there, so you can
park for free Friday night. You do have to pay
on Saturday. Saturday parking in the neighborhoods a couple traffic
related things. Park Few Boulevard closes at nine am, so

(10:41):
if you're trying to get anywhere along eighty fourth Street
and park Few Boulevard, you're stuck. So so nine am
is when all that closes up, and then afterwards Parkview
reopens and then there's parking all along in that area.
We do offer a shuttle from City Center and Brentwood
Car Brentwood Square. I just get that wrong, Brentwood Square

(11:03):
on the west side of eighty four Street.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
I leave your boo boo in there.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Just please, Okay, absolutely, I'm him.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
So what where can we get more information?

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (11:12):
All of it. Everything, maps, schedules, the whole kitten capitals
at Livistdays dot org.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Excellent. This is going to be a lot of fun.
I'll be there on Saturday with the parade and I'm
bringing my own script. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Ah use yours,
so you know, it's always a lot of fun. So
come on out to Lavista Days on Friday, the thirtieth
and the thirty first Saturday, getting the thirty one days.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
I know.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yeah, it happens every year.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
It seems right, It seems like there should only be thirty.
But you know, hey, for my mortgage payment, I get
a mixture day.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Hey, you're right, you're welcome.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Thanks for joining me to Lucie.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
We'll see you this weekend.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Sounds good.
