Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
I'm Sandy Collins and we have a few minutes more
to talk about the free Kroger Health and Wellness Festival
here in Cincinnati with Colleen Linholtz. She's the president of
Kroger Health. Colleen, how are you doing today?
Speaker 3 (00:13):
Good?
Speaker 1 (00:13):
How are you good? Good?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I'm glad you were able to accommodate us.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
We've got to be coming.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Up real crazy, but it's a fun time of the year.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
We love it. How did this festival begin? And what
does it mean to Kroger to be a part of this.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, so, Sandy, the festival is all about what began
seven years ago. This is our sixth time putting on
the festival, with the one year we took off because
of COVID. But it's all in an effort to serve
our company's purpose, which is to feed the human spirit,
and our vision at Kroger Health of helping people live
a healthier life. We really believe because we've got you know,
(00:50):
we're a grocery store and we've got health care assets
that sit inside of it, then we have an opportunity
to really promote prevention and really wrap our whole fells
around food is medicine and better for you, and what
not a better way to do that than to launch
a festival like we have right here in Cincinnati, which
is our hometown.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
This is a big festival. I've been to it before.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
For parents that want to expose their children to the
idea of taking care of their bodies, eating the right foods,
taking care of their emotional health and their stress. This
is a great place to go. What will parents and
their kids find when they come to the Wellness Festival.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yes, very family friendly festival. Overall. What they're going to
see is there's over one hundred different activities of sash
experiences that people will have when they come to our festival.
Whether that's games, whether that's a panel discussion, whether that's
a wall to climb for kids, whether that's an obstacle
course for kids, that type of thing. New foods, new
experiences around food.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I think that's really fun.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
There's classes around putting your own floral arrangement together, that
type of stuff. There's American Greetings and sponsoring a really
awesome event on writing to our veterans and cards and
really teaching people how to still connect personally. You know,
people need people and we believe that and so there's
just a lot of different experiences that people can have,
both from like activities and fun fitness type of stuff
(02:09):
to cooking demonstrations and then panels that really get to
the heart of what's going on with a lot of people,
whether that be mental, physical, emotional type of health.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
This must cost a great deal of money to put on,
and there is no admission charge.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
It's a free to attend.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
That is a testament of everyone who's involved their commitment
to making sure that people stay healthy and or get healthy.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
We cannot do this without our sponsors and our vendors.
So are presenting sponsors this year are PepsiCo and their
Gatorade brand, and then Procter and Gamble they're both presenting
code presenting sponsors, and then we have two hundred and
twenty one sponsors overall. So it's really the consumer product groups,
the people that Kroger works with, obviously inside of our.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Sorees who we work.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
With on a like a pharmaceutical company type of sponsorship.
But we're all coming together again in an effort to
spread wellness. We believe this can be spread across the
entire country and this can be sort of a footprint
for what others do to have health in your community.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
To day festival, tell us where and when and how
to go.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
We moved at Fifth Street this year, so it's on
September twenty seventh and twenty eighth on Fifth Street downtown,
starting at eleven am and going till seven pm.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
What is your favorite part of this festival.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
My favorite part of this festival has just seen the
community come together, see people discover new things. I've seen
people actually across the country from a Kuker standpoint, really
gain new friends. So we have people we call Wallnuts
Win eighty Champions that are coming across from the entire
country that are coming in here to really tell their story,
whether that be a physical change that they had, you know,
(03:43):
they lost one hundred pounds type of thing and they're
feeling a lot better, or people that have gone through
serious depression and really turned their lives around. So this
is not only just for the people in Cincinnati, but
it's actually for people across the entire code company.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
So that's the part that.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
I love seeing. And then another piece is just the
celebrities and the athletes that have really joined us in
our effort to have healthier communities, and so they'll be
a lot of them that will join us at the fest.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Yeah, let's talk about the concerts real quick. Third Eye Blind.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, Third Eye Blinds on Friday, on Friday afternoon, so
that's going to be great. And then on Saturday we've
got Jason Drilla.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
All the kids are going to love that too. It's
all about the young people these days.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, very cool, and it's again all free Kroger Free
Health and Wellness Festival going to be down on Fifth
Street again this year September twenty seven and twenty eight. Colleen,
thank you so much for taking time to talk to
us about this. We hope that everyone takes advantage of
what you're doing.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yeah, thank you Sandy for your time and come on down.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Well, that's it, we're going to wrap it up for today.
