Speaker 1 (00:00):
Up next.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
He's running for governor and he's running down the roads
right now here in Michigan. Anthony Hudson joins us on
the show this morning. Welcome in.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Yeah, long time, no see you.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
You know, we we just saw each other on Saturday
at at another big thing. You've been going all across
the state talking to folks. In fact, you're just getting
back from one of those places right now.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Where were you this morning?

Speaker 4 (00:30):
A lot of speculation going on in Michigan about what's
happening in Dearborn, And I've talked to local officials in Dearborn.
I've talked to the police in Deer and they all
have a different story.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
To go down. And we were going.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
To visit Dearborn for the first called a prayer at
six o'clock. And we got down there expecting to hear
this loud music and this called a prayer and all
these people rushing the streets.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
It was as quiet as a cemetery, not a thing,
nothing going on.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
People showed up and they went in and they prayed
for about ten minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Then they left, got in their cars, they went and
did their thing.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
We even went to a mosque, the largest mosque in
Dearborn and we got there at the end of their
call to prayer again, no music, no sound, no projectory
across the speakers. It was quiet as a mouse. So
the point of this is to bring the reality of
what Dearborn really is versus the speculation, the AI videos

(01:39):
and all the false reports that come from other places
in the country or the world, and they're just tagging
it as Dearborn.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
So what was your takeaway then?

Speaker 4 (01:54):
You know, this was the third day I've been in
Dearborn this week and I have not had one single
person say anything bad to me in person. They've been
very inviting, very welcoming, ask us to come into their
restaurants to try some schwarma, some coffee, some chicken wings.
They've been very open to us coming down there. And

(02:17):
I'll be transparent with you. There are some bad seeds
in every city, and we've had some pushback comments on
social media about our big march that we're doing on Tuesday,
But everyone needs to understand that this is just a
peaceful walk to bridge the gap between hate and happiness.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
We're trying to bring the community.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Together so that the rest of the steak can understand
what Dearborn is really like when you go there, and
from what I've seen, it's nothing, nothing like what the
lame duck media has been putting out there.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
So what are you planning.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
I've heard you talk a little bit about this and
what you're up to next Tuesday on the eighteenth end, dearborn.
Go a little bit deeper into that, and are you
asking people to join you?

Speaker 3 (03:01):
How?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
How should how should they proceed on that?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Uh? So we are asking.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
We got a shot for this this uh this talking dearborn.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
It's because.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
By this talking point, we've had news articles from the UK,
from France, from even one from Pakistan sent me an
article that they did on this.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
We we picked up national news media.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
I was on Newsmax two nights ago, and then the
night before that I was also on Newsmax again talking
about this walk and what's going on in Dearborn. So
we're asking people to come out and you know, use
their First Amendment right freedom to assemble, to get together peacefully,
quietly walk down the sidewalk, walk down the street, and

(03:51):
and bring this community together. We have a few organizations
within the Muslim community that's going to join us, uh
to walk with us, to to show strength and you.
This is not a religious protest, this is not a
racial protest. It's not a protest of any caliber. It's
simply citizens of Michigan coming together to walk down the

(04:11):
street and see for themselves, experience it firsthand. And the
law enforcement has said, you're welcome, you don't need a permit,
come on down, do your thing. We just asked that
you know, you keep it as as peaceful as you can.
And I told him, I said, I told the chief,
I said, I'll do everything I can, but I'm not
responsible for what infiltrators do or what other people do

(04:34):
when they get into these big crowds. And we're expected
to see anywhere north of five hundred five thousand people
show up.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Wow, So Tuesday, what time can people and should people
try to plan for?

Speaker 4 (04:51):
So we want people to show up at around three pm.
The walk is going to begin at four o'clock and
we're gonna meet at the corner of Schaeffer Road and
Michigan Avenue. There's a there's a big supermarket there with
a big parking lot. We're going to congregate there and
then we're going to take our walk down to the

(05:11):
City Hall building. It's about one point eight miles west
down Michigan Avenue, and then I'll be attending the city
the city meeting at seven o'clock there where I get
a chance to say a few things.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
To the mayor.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Well that meeting, And I know we talked about this
a little bit, but that meeting has come under well
a little scrutiny lately because of what's happened there recently.
You you saw this yourself. A guy got silenced there.
What do you what do you expect to happen?

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Well, I'm just.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Gonna ask the mayor straight up, are you going to
tell me that I'm not welcome here? Because there's five
thousand people outside that beg to differ with you, and
we we want the mayor to understand that he is
he's an elected official. What he said to that pasture
back in September was uncalled for. He should have been

(06:01):
bigger than that, He should have been more professional than that,
and he should have been more caring than that to tell,
you know, tell people to come see us, encourage people
to come to Dearborn, not.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
That you're gonna throw a parade when they leave town.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
That to me is is absurd, and that's not what
leaders should be talking about.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
That's not what leaders should.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Be you know, they shouldn't be seeing folks as a
threat like that in their communities if their communities are
a good, safe place to be. So I'm gonna ask
him the I'm gonna ask him the tough questions, and
you know, if he tells me I'm not welcome, then
I'll tell him as.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Governor that I don't think he's welcome in my state.
I don't have a problem doing that.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Anthony Hudson's Canada for governor here in Michigan. Anything else
that you're seeing on the roads while you're talking to
people having these conversations, I mean, I know that's there's
quite a bit probably to cover there. But anything you're
seeing on the road, you're hearing from people that are
concerned in Michigan about where we're headed over the next

(07:07):
for eight years.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Well, we've covered twenty five thousand miles across this state
in the last eleven months, and we see a lot
more potholes than I thought existed in this state. And
obviously this is a concern in Michigan because we've had
the failed promises of fix the damn roads from our governor.
We've also lost nine billion dollars of surplus money that

(07:30):
was there when she took office, and a lot of
the people the temperature is that, you know, the education
is failing, the state's failing, We're losing citizens in our state,
and why are we doing?

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Why is all this happening?

Speaker 4 (07:43):
And I think a lot of it is because of
the high taxation and no representation that we're truly not
getting from Lansing. So you know, when we talk about
eliminating property taxes and state income taxes, we're telling the
rest of the country that Michigan's open for business, bring
your businesses here, bring your jobs back here. And when
those two things happen, people are going to naturally move back.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
To Michigan because this is a beautiful state and.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
There's a lot of things that this state offers. But
you know, like our hat says, we have to fix Michigan,
and we have to do it in its entirely. We
can't just you know, pick one issue here, one issue there.
We need someone in Lanting that is going to roll
up their sleeves and get to work and do the
job start to finish, And I've lost faith that career

(08:28):
politicians are capable of doing that, because if they were,
they would have done it twenty years ago. So we're
not sitting in the situation we're in today. So our philosophy,
our outlook, our vision on the state of Michigan is
to do the work now so that twenty years from
now people can look back and say that was the
turning point where Michigan became a great state again.

Speaker 2 (08:49):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
