Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, never a dull moment round here, Kyle Olson, appreciate
you taking attent to be here with us from the
Midwestern or the Midwestern or Dot News.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
How are you doing. It's it's been a wild week.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Huh, good morning, it's good to be with you. Yes,
it's uh, it's never it seems like it's never slowing down.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Now, that's the wild thing.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Good news, I guess for folks in the news business,
even though we would like to break every now and then,
but all three of these stories major impacts here in Michigan,
these big stories today. But let's start, if we can,
with this wild story. And I want to get your
take on Trump and Musk. I mean I got some
I think some things to add to this too, But
let's start with this massive story about this bio weapon
(00:42):
that's discovered. Seems to be part of the course here
in Michigan, particularly at the University of Michigan, all these forests,
who's coming in and of course the threats. I don't
think it'd be overstated here.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah, it's it's very disturbing, and there has there seems
to be a there seems to have been a real
tolerance for CCP partnerships in the state of Michigan, whether
it's Goshen like you and I have talked about, or
it's the University of Michigan allowing CCP related students to
(01:14):
come into the into the university. There were a number
of Michigan universities that had formal relationships with Chinese universities
and Chinese universities that have relationships with the Chinese military,
(01:35):
and and for whatever reason, our state has tolerated this,
and it's now, you know, we're getting burned by it.
And I think it's it's high time that these universities,
the companies, that the Michigan state government, the federal government
take this very seriously. That the Chinese government does not
(01:56):
like America. They want us out of the way, and
they clearly will will stop at nothing to try and
destroy your country.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, and I think that a fair assessment.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
The thing that I just wish people would get a
better grasp on is the fact that apparently, you know,
the people of the country of China are fantastic, but
the government inside clearly views the United States as an
adversary and we're being treated to such. One of the
things that I think is probably most interesting about all
(02:30):
of this is you know, the fact that right before
COVID came out, we had or we had a bit
of a trade deal, sort of a war going on
in some in some ways, and now we're back into it.
We got another threat from a biological agent.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Here.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
It sounds like in an issue this these these things,
you put these two things together and I don't know,
call me a tenfoil out wearing conspiracy theories, but.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
I just call it critical thinking.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
This this adds up to be I think some very
concerning issues.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yeah, we we have been very lax as a state,
have been very lax about treating an adversary like it's
an adversary. I mean, for example, you know, we found
that Eastern Michigan University, Oakland University, the University of Detroit,
and the University of Michigan all had working relationships with
(03:24):
Chinese universities that are actively either doing cyber warfare, hacking,
et cetera, or they're working with the Chinese government or
the Chinese military, which is obviously, you know, intent on
destroying the United States. And so the work of Congressman
(03:46):
John Molinar and the CCP Committee in the House has
you know, made a difference in trying to wake these
universities up. But you know, the big question is just
because the relationship formally ends, are they cutting off communication?
Are they still working with them but finding other ways.
I Mean, one of the things that we're seeing in
(04:07):
universities around the country is just because you know, the
federal government bands DEI or they you know, threatened funding
over over tolerance for anti Semitism, doesn't mean it's actually
going away. You know, we're seeing universities are they're changing
the language, they are finding workarounds, or they're just totally
ignoring it all together. Is that Is that what's happening
(04:30):
at these universities? We need answers to that.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Kyle ols in the Midwestern or the Midwestern or dots
some of the big stories you mentioned. Obviously, Benson tied
into this story because of that voter, the one who
voted in the twenty twenty four election and high tail
it out Benson back in the news and specifically because
of this this story and much much more, she's the
(04:54):
most lawless secretary of state in the state's history. They've
now filed or they're going to file, articles of impeachment
against her and the Oversight Committee has had the subpoena
her to get her to comply. She said, Hey, if
I become the governor last week, with the rest of
the folks on Maccano, I'll give you everything. I'll be
so transparent. Yet she refuses to do that.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Now, yes, exactly, and she so now the House Oversight
Committee is now taking her to court to force her
to comply with the subpoena. And what they're asking for
is very simple. They're asking for the training materials and
the guidance that she is providing to election officials clerks
(05:39):
specifically about how they process ballots, how they scrutinize signatures,
all of those sorts of things to make sure that
she is complying with the law. And so it's very
strange that she is now refusing to provide that information
to two former clerks, by the way, Jay Dea Boyer
(06:01):
was a county clerk and Chelle Smith was also a clerk,
and so they understand how to handle sensitive information. But
she's trying to make it like, oh, this is, you know,
some sort of a security threat if she provides this guide,
which she has provided, by the way, to over five
thousand clerks across the state. She's now treating this like
(06:22):
this as some you know, major security scandal, and all
they're saying is, we want to know what you're telling
these people to make sure that you're complying with the law.
She's refusing to do it, and she has refused to
do it for weeks now. She ignored the subpoena, and
so now they're taking her to court to force her
to comply with the subpoena. So this is the situation
that she has created. Michigan taxpayers now have to pay
(06:45):
legal bills for the House to take her to court,
and she is going to spend Michigan tax payer dollars
to fight it. And so we now are in the
Michigan tax payers are now in a situation we're having
to pay the legal bills for all these people. Well,
when we just want.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
The answers, it's just that's that, it's just that simple.
We want answers. Why won't they give them to us?
And it seems to me, I don't know about you,
but it just seems to me, Uh, chances are in
situations like this if they don't comply to get something
to hide.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
That's a very logical question. It's a document that's gone
out to over five thousand people. What do you have
to hide? And and this is not this is this
should be It is a public document. It's very simple
language about how clerks treat treat ballants, how they scrutinize ballots.
(07:43):
This this should not be a big secret, but she's
treating it like a big secret. She now is. She
was in Traverse City the other night selling her book.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Of course, she.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Turned down interviews. She didn't want to talk about impeachment
because she wants to try to have a very script
did campaign where she can talk about, you know, protecting
rights and all of that stuff, when in reality, we
want our rights protected. We want to make sure that
our votes lets are not negated by a Chinese national
(08:14):
who votes and then leaves the country. So it's not
just about the illegal voters, it's about the legal voters
who don't want our votes to be negated.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Listen, let's get it. I want to talk to Trump
and Musk here in just a second.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
I got to take a quick break for folks that
are on the radio side of things here, if you're
watching behind the scenes live stream, I'll give you a
chance to chat in the meantime behind the scenes. Our
good friend Kyle Olson the Midwesterner, Themidwesterner dot News it
blew up yesterday online and we're going to get down
to about I want to gate your comment on. I
get some things I want to share with you about
(08:48):
it yesterday. Well, I think we're really watching play out
right after this.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Don't go anywhere, folks, all right, did Trump musk big
blow up yesterday?
Speaker 1 (08:58):
And actually, I will tell you of everything that I've
seen come out of this. Kyle Olsen with us in
the Midwesterner comment on it. I'm gonna tell you what
I think. I think it's something not a lot of
other folks are mentioning. But see, the interesting thing to
me is Trump is being very measured.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
There are some some comments that he's come out with.
I think, well, maybe we'll just you know, if you
want to save money, maybe we'll just cut all Elon's
government contracts, which I think was kind of funny. But
he's being very measured in the personal sort of attacks
Elon not so much. What do you make of all
of this, Kyle, this is a really strange thing to see.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Well, yes, it's obviously not helpful. These are the sorts
of things you like to see, you know, play out
behind closed doors. But I think it's I don't know,
I think it's you know, it's not good that it's
playing out in public, but I sort of think it's
these are the fights that people have, and when traditionally
(10:04):
they would happen behind closed doors, sometimes they happen publicly.
I will say, yes, I agree with you. I think
I think the president is being very measured, and I
think he's sticking to the issues about the spending and
the and the things that the things that are in
the bills, specifically repealing the ev mandate and UH and
(10:26):
the and the and he and well specifically about that.
But then also Elon wanted a particular NASA administrator and
Trump went with somebody else, and he didn't like that either.
So that's really what they're sparring about. Elon's deciding to
you know, throw in a bunch of other things. I
did see, Uh. The Jeffrey Epstein lawyer came out tweeted that,
(10:49):
you know, there's nothing there, so obviously that intent is
to just sort of to you know, rile everybody up,
which you know, the media is falling.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
For that to me, I said that this is just proof.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
This is just ramblings of somebody who's not happy, and
that's that's all it is. Because this old Jeffrey Epstein thing.
I'll get into this here in just a little bit.
But if there was anything real dirt on Trump, we
would have had that years ago. We would have had
a year. Yeah, hey, I appreciate it. Unfortunately, we're just
running out of time here, Kyle. Thank you for jumping
(11:21):
in with us this morning on this Folks who will
find out more? I know you got it online at
the Midwestern Midwestern Dot News quickly fifteen seconds.
Speaker 2 (11:28):

Speaker 1 (11:29):

Speaker 3 (11:34):

this Jocelyn Benson subpoena story and impeachment and all of that.
I mean, that's really dominating what's going on. So we're
going to continue to cover that.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Keep your eyes up, and folks, a lot more come
on your way
