Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joe.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Really, you're the difference maker. You had that punt. It
went off your face a year.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Yeah. Yeah, So man, they try to get out there
and make a play, you know, Juan one to eleven.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
It trying to make something happen.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Now, I was really all I came.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Down to j L Skinner with a blocked punt. Make
it seven in a row for the Denver Broncos. Even
though last night's win against the Raiders was messy in
more ways than one.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Yeah, but the defense continues to dominate, holding the Raiders
to one hundred and eighty eight total yards, sacking Raiders
quarterback Gino Speth six times. Joining us sound the KWA
Common Spirit Health Hotline is Broncos sideline reporter Susie Warden
as long as she is not blown away.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
From yesterday's game, Oh my goodness. Honestly was the biggest
player in yesterday's game, just the.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Swirling wins that we had on the field.

Speaker 5 (00:43):
Honestly, it really could be Gina. I mean, it was
one thing. I looked at the weather and I.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Said, Okay, great, it looks like it's going to not
be as windy in the second half.

Speaker 5 (00:50):
And I think a lot of people expected that, and
it was still swirling, and it would come in so
interestingly where it'd be really calm and all of a
sudden it would just whip in there and it was
like a little bowl and you could sometimes see the
goldpost moving a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
But when it when the wind was whipping, it also
got really chilly.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
So I don't know, you know, I mean, Jeremy Croshaw
obviously had a rough night punting. I don't know how
much that had to do with it, but Sean Payton
brought it up in his press conference, and I think
more and more people started to realize it was And
I don't know if people in the stands felt it
as much as we did on the field.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
It was an interesting phenomenon.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
There was there was a TV shot, Susie, as I
was listening to you, Dave and Rick, where the ball
was at scrimmage and it got blown a rotation. Yeah
did you see that? Yeah? And the umpire had to
bring it back. So I guess you probably needed a windscreen,
not just for your microphone but for you In.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Any case, it was a real thing. Yeah, there was
there a.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Sense of frustration from the crowd during the first half
the offense not making first downs, the poor punts, and
the Raiders kind of scary, although they only scored one
touchdown starting with excellent field position the entire half.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
Oh one hundred percent, David, it was. It was really
flat in that first half. As far as is the crowd,
I mean, it was very pumped up to begin with.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
It's a Thursday night game.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
They had all, you know, they're doing a really great
job in the stadium of you know, lights and all.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Kinds of things that are going on. Music.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
But when you don't have that performance from your offense,
you're just not going to get the crowd into it.
So they were just kind of there, and the offense
did seem a little flat. Even when they came off
the field and they were on the bench. The defense
was very smiley, and in fact, you know, you have
five sacks and one half. They were having a great
game in that first half.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
So it was.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Definitely there were a lot of issues going on on offense.
And we heard after the game that they saw a
lot of looks from the Raiders that they didn't see
on tape before, and so that surprised them a little bit.
So they've got a lot of things that they have
to go back to when they watch the film. They're
off for the rest of the week, but I guarantee
you there's going to be some talking happening at the
beginning of next week about what went on last night.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Oh, it's fascinating to hear booze from broncos Fanson was
punting and still winning the game.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
But people are just like that was pretty ugly.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
But Susie, you always get a first hand look when
it comes to just the sidelines and what you see
with the team. I mean, when you're seeing just the
defense dominating the offense struggling, does it seem like they're
still cohesive on the sidelines or are we starting to
see a little bit of frustration between the.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Two No, definitely not seeing the frustration. But like I said,
it was definitely a different group of guys and the
mood when you'd.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
See the defense come off the field because they were
making great plays, especially in that first half, and so
they were happy, smiling high fives. That was not happening
on the offensive side of the ball. But you don't
see the two of them having any interactions that were
negative by any means. I mean, there's still offensive guys,
you know, thinking the defense when they come off, and
at the end of the game, they're all still saying

(03:47):
the right thing. And I asked Jael Skinner that and
I asked DeAndre Tillman that about. You know, how do
you guys feel when you're still out there and then
you're just it's.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Three and out, three and out, You're going back out again.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
They're barely getting any kind of a break, it seemed
in that first half, and they're just all, you know,
we're a team. This is what we do and if
we can keep it rolling, then that's what we'll do.
So as long as they keep that going and we
don't start to see that division, we'll still be in
great shape.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
They get a little bit of a break here, unconventionally
when you play a Thursday night game. Obviously they had
a short week here. The players will get a break,
the coaches won't. They work every day. But did you
chat with some of the players or have you with
what they may be planning to do with two or
three days off that they don't normally get.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
Yeah, some of them talked about going to college games,
just watching football this weekend and really trying to unplug
a little bit, and they need it.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I mean, I don't know how.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
Many people realize, you know it, it's been a grind
and this is a very late bye.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
We don't even have a bye week yet. This is
a mini buy.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
Now and then the bye week's coming in a couple
of weeks after Kansas City. But they need it because
it was really doing that road trip from and having
experienced it and I didn't play in football games. I
was just on the travel crew. But going from phill
to London and just having all of those days and
turning around and then playing Thursday night, it's a lot.
And I know they get paid a lot of money.

(05:07):
This is what they do for a profession.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
But it's tough.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
It's a tough physical game, it's a tough mental game,
and so this is going to be really needed for
them to have this time off with this little mini
buy so to speak.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
All right, Susie, let's get your grade for the overall
performance yesterday.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Oh man, well, I mean it's going to be another
one of those C games if I have to do it,
you know, consistently between the two the defense played phenomenally
and did everything they needed to do to help get
a win, but the offense really has some struggles and
maybe some of that was the win. You saw some
of those passes that you're just like, wow, where was
that going? And did the win maybe pick it up

(05:43):
and put it someplace else. But they also we've seen
this happen before, so it can't just be blamed on
the weather.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
They've got to get some things figured out. So I'm
going to go.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
See Broncos sideline reporter Susie Ward, and Susie has always
thanks so much.

Speaker 4 (05:57):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
