Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back, Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards, Shelby, Harris Broncos Country
and I come up here at the top of the
hour five six six nine zeros a KA Common Spirit
health text line. If you want to interact with us,
we're sort of talking about this in the break Dave.
Today we found out a couple of rule change things
that are going to happen. This one, though, is as fast,
(00:20):
you know, the violent gesture that they already did, the.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
The brandishing a gun.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Right, if you do a finger guns, that's that's a
fifteen yard penalty.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
But now now they're adding.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Throat slash and a nosewipe. The nosewipe gesture is a
fifteen yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
That wasn't it wasn't even it wasn't even a nosewipe
to start with.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Not at all, No, not at all.
Speaker 5 (00:51):
I mean, is that what it is? Is that how
it's described.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yes, it says we're using the quote unquote nosewipe gesture.
They also added or an act that is sexually suggestive
or offensive.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
So there you go, Well that that would be subjective,
don't you think, I mean what you might find offensive?
Speaker 5 (01:13):
I might say tront with that.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Well, you know, the salary cap keeps going up and
so they're looking for new ways to get that money back.
It's wild's wild, like the nose wipe.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, like please, you've never done that.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Right, I literally did it. I would do it for
my intros to the game.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Everyone's way, yes.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Like that, like the Seriously, I would make the kind
of money you're making, I think you just continue to
do it and take the fine.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
I really like my money though, you know, I mean,
I love when those checks come in and doesn't say
minus fifteen thousand for a fine I've been finding. One
time in my career, really one time it was with
my time with the Broncos. It was I had Patrick
Mahomes in the head. It was the first player, first
play of the game. You know that's going to get
I was to play the game. I can't remember what
(02:01):
year it was. First play. I get through the line
and he's trying to throw the ball, so I like
go try to like tackle and slash back the ball
down and I slap him in the head and I
look right at the ref and he looks at me
and throws the flag and I get a twenty five
thousand dollars. Fine, whoa, And then I got it down
to three. Okay, but still but it's a lot of
people though, like you know, look at Kajack when he
(02:25):
was here, Kareem Jackson when was here. Oh boy, that
was like a million dollars in Fine. It's like, man,
the league is gonna they give you this money, but
they're so quick to take it back. And I think
people realize, like even the uniform violations, come on, come on,
you'll find any You find somebody ten thousand dollars for
no socks.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
That's one consistent thing in a game that has changed
dramatically over the years.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Mostly well a lot of it for the better.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
The uniform violation thing, man, they used to they used
to get guys back in the seventies, eighties, and nineties.
And if your socks weren't pulled up, uh to like
the knee level.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
It's the white side. I mean, they get you on everything.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Well, guys, you know the rules. I mean I don't, honest,
see what the issue is here.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
It's just my god, it's.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
You don't like you know the rules. It's it's like
the past of the drug test, like you know what
it is.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
I don't get this because you didn't have to put
the football pants on.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
You're gonna go you now, so you kill me.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
For you kill me for saying stuff like that. And
now she'll be I'm going to say this, and and
because obviously a lot.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Of people don't know those socks play the game.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
No, those socks, like do you know how I'm comfortable
they are to have them right under like right behind
your knee.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Their socks.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Yeah, they're not like blue socks. They're tight socks. But like, okay,
you saying that shows me that you have no clue
what the hell I'm talking about. Because the fact that
it's like before that game you have socks I'm squeezing
behind your knee, it makes your legs feel weak, and
then you don't feel like you can have the best
game you need to have. Like it's little things like
it's you know, obviously I'm not standing like.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
Ryan, seriously.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
I mean you sometimes I don't know if it's Tuesdays
or I don't even know, but you sometimes wear compression socks.
If you had to wear those all the time, like
every day at work, you wouldn't like it either.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Well, maybe not compression socks but that's not part of
the job. That's like not a requirement to come in
here and do radio.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
So if what we're saying, if you had to wear
what you wear on Tuesdays every day, you wouldn't you
wouldn't want to do that.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
It was changing up a little bit. Maybe you would
like to at least try to swag it out a
little bit, like not make it look a little better.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Hold on, Yeah, different conversations. Okay, well you can't.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
You can't say, like, hey, I'm gonna have the best
game of my life, but these socks are really holding
me back. But if I have some more swagger that
I could have a better game. Those are different conversations.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
About these What do you think about wiping the nose
thing being banned?
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I think it's dumb.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Well, that's funny because it's a rule and you should.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Just follow it right right, Well, now it's the rules.
Fifteen dollars.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Now you just must follow the rules.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Well you're gonna you're gonna cost your team a yardage
maybe even a game, Ryan, right right.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
We're not saying it is not the rule, is saying
it's a dumb rule.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Actually, this one, I agree. It's a dumb rule.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Wow, but that's subjective and certainly I don't play for
the league and get paid millions of dollars to do that.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
But the issue, I guess is, like, you know, you
really only attack certain players when it comes to it,
like the you know, they were they were on Odell's
ass forever and they will find him every day. But
then Joe Schmoe goes and socks are little too low.
He doesn't get a fine, you know.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
But listen, Joe is that Joe is a hell of
a receiver.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Came out of wake Forest six four three four. I mean,
I love I mean, and I knew his brother Sam,
you know, good family family.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Yeah, I gotta get it. It's a rule, but you know,
I think it's at a time if it's not distracting,
then what's the big deal?
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Fair?
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Now, there is one rule that they did or they're
proposing to do, and I think they're going to follow
through with it is the replay assists.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
They're expanding the replay assist.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Now, before people get too excited, this is only picking.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Up a flag. This is not They will go in
after the fact and then give a flag.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Okay, so they haven't gotten to the replay assist, adding
to so like.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Sam Darnold when he had the face mask.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
In the end zone of the Vikings Rams game, they're
not going to go back and say, hey, you should
have called a flag there.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
This is this is just picking up a flag.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
But they're including now defenseless player face mask, horse collar,
tripping and roughing or running.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Into the kicker. So they're now including that in replay assists.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
So they can quickly say, you know, me on my
couch or me up in the booth, I can see
that that is not a penalty.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Did I not hear defensive passing interference? And then oh so,
because they don't even know what the hell it is, like,
I'm telling you, like one player your seed, literally a
dbdamn tackle a receiver and not be called. And then
you'll see the next play he pokes them in the
chest and three flags come out.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
So I thought you'd be happy about this. This is
helping the defense. I'm bringing you good news as somebody
that plays the game.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Tripping is more for us.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Can a face mask horse callar defenses as also us also,
but they flagged you and now they may pick up
the flag because like for example, when you hit Patrick
Mahomes in the head, well maybe you would have brushed
his shoulder pad.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
I mean, it's Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
He has like an aura around his helmets in the
sense that if you even get close, if you.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Breathe on him, I imagine that's actually a penalty. But maybe,
just maybe with replay assists, they pick up the flag.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
So is that included roughing and passers included? Is that
part of the defenseless player? So no, So then you're
not helping. You are literally running us around a circle
and not fixing any of the problems we've been asking
you to fix. I'm not saying you, I'm talking about NFL.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Yeah, I that's what you meant.
Speaker 7 (08:10):
Like.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
It's tough though, because it's like we are. We aren't
asking for tripping to be called. No, no one is
fighting for that. They're trying to say that some of
these bs roughing the pastor calls need to be picked up,
but of course, and then some of these defensive pass
interference calls need to be picked up. But of course
those are the two that are not included in this
(08:31):
in this reform of the rules that we have going
on day.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Do we think we should go back to like the
t O days, where we could pull a marker out
of our shoe and sign an autograph of football, or
do whatever gestures we want to mean.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
And I don't know it sounds like what Shelby saying.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
It doesn't sound that way to me. I think that.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
I think some of the some of these proposals you
just went over, it would have made more sense if
you really want, you really want to get things right,
you'd have to limit how many times you could do it.
But like you mentioned the Sam Darnold play, that that
would not be reviewable even with the new proposals. Well,
(09:14):
I would say, okay, why not stuff like that? But
I think what some of these proposals will do. Now
you can go back and pick flags up. And so
I've got to wonder if officials would be more prone
to throw stuff that they didn't know for sure, because
(09:34):
if you don't throw on that, there's no way to
go back and make the call right. If you do
throw on that particular call and it happens to be
deemed incorrect, they can at least pick it up.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
That's a great point.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
It's like rest turnovers. Call it a turnover, no matter
what call it an interception, called it fumble because you
can always go back.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
And these yes, and we've seen that, we've seen that.
I think that that tends to happen the way the
rules are set up now on.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
The KWA Comma Spirit Health text line five six six
nine zero. I didn't play football as long as those
two guys did, but I did play for a while
and after college.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Those socks suck, period.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ryan that that text
is for you.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
I know most of the texts are usually for me
as some kind of like you don't know what you're
talking about.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
No, no, No, I didn't. I didn't say that.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
No, I'm saying that.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I said that.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Shelby said that in about eighty five percent of the
textures on a daily basis, But I did.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Dave didn't say that. I didn't start off fair enough.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
You should find Ryan fifteen thousand dollars every time he
wears flannel.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Oh that's another fifteen right now. Yeah, put it in
the pot.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
A requirement for the job. That's that's different. I'm not
required to wear flannel. I enjoy wearing flannel. It makes
me feel comfortable doing the show. But that does not
mean that I couldn't find another garment in my closets.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Dude, you are you wearing the long have you warned?
I haven't looked. You don't have mone today? But are
you are you? Have you worn the longer socks this week?
I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
I am wearing. Yes, I am wearing. Uh, you were
in long socks?
Speaker 3 (11:12):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yeah, I'm wearing some the impression socks. But they are
they are the long what what's.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
It called long John types?
Speaker 2 (11:21):
No, they're they're spacing the name yeah whatever these socks.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Are You got the dress socks?
Speaker 5 (11:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (11:28):
I got yeah, dress And they're like flannel and they're
literally the same like pattern as this flannels.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
They're comfortable. This is the thing, like I wear it
for comfort. I wear it puts me in a good mood, you.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Know for me? You know that's where you find something
else that gets you in a good mood?
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Is that what it is?
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Not?
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Should I wear like a ray Allen Bright purple.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Butt gummy when you get.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (11:51):
Fair enough?
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Hey, if there's an endorsement out there for.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
That, I won't change dramatically.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
I'm in for it.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
So what he was trying to talk trash on is
because I do have my purple, bright purple, bright purple.
It's not purple, okay, Barney purple is actually perfect, my
old school Barney purple. Milwaukee Bucks jersey on the old
school ray Allen Jersey.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
I like the way it looks.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Thank you, thank you, because I feel the hate coming
from that side of this.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
I'm tomorrow. We're good today.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
No, you're the bear, the dough, feel the dough. You'l
the deer.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
I am not worried about your bucks, and in fact,
you should be worried about that ten and a half.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
That's really I'm not.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Worried about that ten and a half because you know
why we're going to win.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Who's who's gonna play?
Speaker 4 (12:37):
I hate people when they say we I'm not included
in this at all.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
The bucks, they might need you to suit up, I
don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Man, with the injuries, you know I can give them
a good pep talk on the side, that's all. I'm
all a good for us. You could dunk, yeah, you
know I got you for that, But I need a
free lane, and I need a free lane.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Hey, if the Nuggets needed you for five minutes, Dave,
do you think you could. You could go out there
and and hoop it.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Up a little bit.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Uh that that that would be I think with a
bad foot that would be negative negative ghostwriter. I think
there would have been a time that that that I
could have given them a solid five minutes.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
I mean, I think you could.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Well, maybe maybe you're not in a position to like
post up or anything, but I think if you're just
sort of like out there like beyond the arc, you
probably knocked down a couple of trees.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Right, you don't you don't have well, considering I haven't
shot a basketball or an eternity, I think there was
there was a time in my career that I felt
pretty pretty comfortable, uh, sitting out there and shooting the ball.
But it's it's been a minute. Hey, listen, when when
I got picked to shoot the free throw before Nuggets
playoff game and I vacillated on that. Then I finally said,
(13:54):
you know, I'm gonna go ahead and do it.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
And then it's a rubber ball, Like there's no feel
to a rubber ball.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
It's I mean, it's so I'm making tons of excuses,
but I missed the free throw.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Well, you drew iron right killed me.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
Now, I mean I saw your pitch to open the
Rockies game.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Wasn't anything. It wasn't anything like that. It wasn't a
total travesty. I hit the rim and bounced around.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
The rim, but it rolled off miss And I'm missing something, Ryan,
What happened? Pitchy?
Speaker 5 (14:23):
Go ahead? Go ahead?
Speaker 2 (14:24):
No, I got to throw the first pitch.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
We'll go ahead.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
But I but I see would you describe it?
Speaker 8 (14:31):
It got there or Dan caught it? It was it
was just off the plates, you.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
Know, that's how we would describe it.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yeah, it was probably be a ball. It wasn't a
strike or anything.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
But I got the late great Bob Yucker and you
would describe in Major League right outside.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Well, at least I drew iron or the version of that.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
With my pitch. It sounds like you dave barely even
hit the rim.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Oh wow, No, I don't. I don't think that's true.
I said it bounced. It bounced more than once. We
need we need to take it.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
Where's the tape, Ryan.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
Well, some somebody's probably got it. All right.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
I want Ryan's tape. I want to see him behind
They've seen it.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
They oh he's been I've seen it merciless.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
I thought for a second that you had injured normal
that you normally throw it. I thought you were I said, well, listen,
he's got to be left handed throwing the ball right handed.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
He I really did get outside.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Yeah, I'm about to cry when.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
You threw it, I said, why is he throwing with
his off his off hand?
Speaker 9 (15:42):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (15:43):
You know I did.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
I did try to look off bigger. I I distook
my headish eyes.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
I looked off the side the heat, you.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Know, and shook them off.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
The first page, you at least got out there and
did it.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
I did get out there, and it was it was
a little stressful, lie to you.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Did you enjoy that was a good time?
Speaker 2 (16:02):
I did enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
I did enjoy it, but I sort of and in
all fairness, and it's gonna stally an excuse.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
You guys can kill me for whatever you want to do.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
I overthought it a and then b I I kind
of hurt my arm warming up.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Oh my god, I seriously.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Yeah, because I was.
Speaker 8 (16:21):
I was nervous and I don't throw a baseball, Like,
how did you hurt your arm?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
As practicing?
Speaker 1 (16:26):
So before we went, we were down in Parker heading
to the game, we pull off. We pull off into
a park and I had my wife catching for me.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
True story. I had my wife catching for me and
hurt my shoulder. I'm not even messing with you, Listen, don't.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
That's why I thought you threw it your off hand.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
I probably should have. My lefty would have been fine.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Oh my god. I haven't laughed like this in a while.
I appreciate you for your athletic stories. Please keep them coming,
keep keep them coming.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
It's giving you life. I'm glad.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
I'm glad I could be here for your entertainment really
quick here before we hit the break at the bottom
of the hour.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
I did.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
I did want to ask you as a question because
we were talking about the the rookie quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
And I'll go to you first, Dame on this. If
you're if you're the Giants.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
So let's say you're Melik Neighbors, Okay, which, by the way,
you're a really impressive wide receiver leak.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
But Dave you, as a.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Former wide receiver, would you rather have Russell Wilson or
a rookie quarterback station or standards throwing at you this
next year?
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Boy?
Speaker 3 (17:30):
I mean, I would guess from Elik Neighbors standpoint, it
really doesn't matter whoever is going to be able to
get me the ball and not put me in a
position to where I'm going to get broken in half.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
I mean that matters. Uh.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
You know, I remember some of the some of the
comments earlier and this is was this during the season,
Malik Neighbors was asked specifically about Shador Was he not
in his answer was not all that glowing?
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Or or am I am?
Speaker 1 (18:04):
I thinking of it might have been asked about one
of like the other the other court, like Daniel Jones
or something, because I do remember him being interviewed in
the Lawyer he was asked about.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
I thought he was asked about Shauduur.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Okay, maybe he was the possibility of the Giants drafting
Shaduur and he I mean we should go back and
find that. I mean after I heard it him like
hmm that that that wasn't all that good. But to
answer your question, I would just want somebody that can
give me the ball, that can help us win. That
is a is going to be And whether it's Shaduur
(18:35):
or Russell or Jamis or whomever whomever of the of
those three, should they draft Shadeur is is the guy.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
I'm good.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
All right?
Speaker 2 (18:44):
So great actually has that sound, So here we go.
Speaker 6 (18:46):
Great coach Prime today saying that he guarantees if the
Giants have the number one pick, but they're keeping it
and they're going to draft Shadeur. I know you played
a little pass with him before the Heisman. Just just
how do you feel about that? How would you feel
about him doing your next quarterback?
Speaker 10 (18:58):
I mean, you know, dian is very confident in his son.
But that's summing upstairs that they gotta do that. They
gotta look over to film and see what quarterback that
they want. I'm not sure if they want a quarterback.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 10 (19:09):
It's not it's not job tim, but the decision will
be made when it's time for the job.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
How would you feel if that was, in fact the
decision that was made, you know? After playing some catch?
Speaker 3 (19:19):
I answered not so yeah? Wow, yeah, so he was.
I mean, it's fine, he can say whatever he wants to.
And the first part of that, I'm thinking, Okay, maybe
maybe I took this the wrong way. But the last part,
now I remember that's what he said. I'm like, whoa, Okay,
(19:40):
I'm not going to answer that.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
I'll ask you the same question to go ahead, Dave,
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
No, no, no, I mean, I'm no, I'm good. I just
think and that shouldn't how maleak feels about anybody. I mean,
should I guess be taken into consideration because he's your
best player, but he does and get to pick who
the next quarterback will be.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
So same question, more from a defensive lineman's perspective defensive
side of the ball. You know your rookie quarterback possitively
might struggle at times.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
How do you guys approach that? How does your mindset change?
Speaker 4 (20:14):
We just got to be better the mindset whenever you have,
you know, a young offense in general, a quarterback, o line,
any like, receivers, anything, is that one of the emphasis
is going to be on the defense to step up
and keep the game and play until the offense figures
it out, you know, And I think just being a
defensive player, you want that responsibility. And it's obviously you
(20:39):
would love for your offensive score fifty points a game
and you give up zero points a game, but that
very rarely ever happens. And so as a defender, you
know you'll put that on your back and just be like,
all right, this on us, and you talk to the team.
It's on us, and it's going to be on us
every week. So none of that crying we out there
is on us. And so if you know that, and
if it's known going into you know the game and
(21:02):
everyone to the season, there should be no complaining. We
know what it is and and so that's why I
think as a defensive player, if you have a rookie quarterback,
you have to have a very strong defense in a
very strong run game. And I think that's how you
get the most out of a young quarterback.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Five six six nine zero or Kwa Thommas Sperry Hill
text line. All right, so when we come back we
talked about a little bit earlier, Lebron James finally responding
to Steven A.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Smith. He did that on the Paton Acabe Show.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Stephen A is now saying he would have fought Lebron
if Lebron James would have stepped to him. I can't
wait to play this for you guys. We'll get to
it next.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Brogus Country Today.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
I'm going to appear at the top of the hour
five six six nine zero or kay Comma Spirit Hill
text line Steve and A. So we played earlier Lebron
James on the Pat mcabee show, and if you missed
any parts of that, you can check it out at
Kwacolorado dot com here a little bit, but more or less,
he I mean fun of stephen A.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
He talked about him in his tidy whities.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
And by the way, steven A did respond to that
part saying that he does not wear He confirmed he
does not wear tighty whities.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
I don't think we need a confirmation.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
I know, I know, I know on his old radio
show he went out of his way to say that
is that is categorically false and then he decided to uh.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
And by the way, I have odds on this fight.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
But here's stephen A saying that if Lebron stepped to
him or put his hands on him, oh, things would.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
Have gone down. That man put his hands on me.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
I would have immediately swung on him, immediately.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
What an idiot? Oh what a loser?
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Like?
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Come on, Dave, I don't I don't even know when
to start with that.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Does A? Is that is that pride?
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Is that ego's things like that?
Speaker 8 (22:54):
No?
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Well, you know.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Again, we talked about a little bit about this earlier.
I mean, he's he's done a really good job of
creating a niche for himself with the platform of ESPN,
to carve it out to the point that he's really
he's the highest paid whatever you want to call him,
(23:22):
talk show host, sports guy, what have you. He's making
twenty million dollars a year. That said, I mean that
that wouldn't go well for him. So he probably, you know,
he probably was taking a lot of grief about and
you're lucky, Lebron when he walked up on you didn't
(23:42):
grab you by your your neck. And so most I
mean most men, right would would fall into that category,
Oh somebody put if somebody put their hands on you.
I don't know what percentage, but most guys that I
(24:05):
know are are not not going to have that.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
So he's that's all he's doing. He's going straight to
his lawyer and saying, sue this man. He's not swinging
back at all. I think that's here's here's here's where
I think you're both wrong. I think he would because
it would be even a bigger story.
Speaker 5 (24:24):
It'd be a bigger story.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Yes, even they would be like he put his hands
on me.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Well, as soon as Yeah, I mean, if somebody put
their hands on you, then you taking some sort of
action would fall into the category of self defense. I
would I would think as long as the action was
a you know, appropriate based on what the other person
had done to you. So again, it's about it's about
(24:49):
creating more of the story. It's about getting people like
us to talk about you know this. I don't think
it's about odds on the fight. I don't think steven
A would have much of a much of a shot.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Well, I have odds.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Reallyada Levada has already put out odds if they did
a boxing match.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Is there even a chance for steven A?
Speaker 2 (25:09):
No, I mean there's you know, you could bet it
on either side.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
I mean, so if I if I bet a dollards
win a million, twenty five hundred, twenty five hundred to.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
One, Lebron James is minus five thousand.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
Oh five thousand to one, Okay.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Five thousand to one, and steven A is plus one thousand.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
I mean, I'm not sure Lebron can fight either, but
I do know this, he's a world class athlete, and
he's probably fifteen years younger than steven A, and he's
six inches taller and he's probably.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
Seventy five pounds heavier.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Yeah, you know, stephen A with this whole this world tour,
he's going on talking about this one incident from you know,
a week or two ago that really nobody cares about,
but Steven A. He just keeps bringing it up all
over again, and it's just like, dude, like nobody like
Lebron did do that to you, so you went out
(26:01):
of your way to make another headline saying that if
he would have I would have did this. It's a
lot of should have would have cut us And it
seems like coming from stephen A. But the issue, I
guess is just like technically, you know, you're supposed to
be a journalist or whatever.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
He is not a journalist.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
Now you're talking about you, you're gonna he would have
knocked him out and everything you would have swum on them.
It's just like what are we what are you doing?
Like where's the line stop where it's just like professionalism.
And then there's stephen A and and at some point
though it's just like man, what did Lebron take your
wife or something like that, like what is going on here? Yes,
(26:40):
what is this vendetta that you have, Like I know,
it's only because he's getting you clicks. The only reason,
like you keep showing up on ESPN and all these
talk shows because of Lebron, and it's it's getting kind
of pathetic at this point. And you know, it's probably
about time he moves on because this has played out,
its completely played out.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
We sit and talk about it.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
You know it'll be done after today, I think, right, but.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
I'm saying, I'm saying he he's getting exactly what he
wants out of this. I mean, that's it's all about
what he say, clicks, it's all about people talking about him,
it's all it's it's driving his brand. It's creating, in
a very weird way, more awareness of his brand, and
(27:26):
that's exactly what he wants.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
Well, you know what I say, there's no such thing
as bad publicity. Apparently he's really going through with that though,
because you know he might find himself in a situation
where he can't dig himself out of it. So you know,
I would try to.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Carefully really quick here. So we played the Lebron sown
earlier on stephen A. We pulled this one because they
mentioned your guy Giannis and not playing tonight for the Bucks.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Because he's got what is let's brain.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Okay, So I thought this was actually a really fun conversation, Dave.
You and I've done this a few times where we
talk about the different eras of the NBA and how
how much has changed really, and so Lebron kind of
went off a little bit about the the different older
players that have said, oh, well, this guy couldn't play
back then, because they've said the same thing about Lebron,
like Lebron wouldn't have been good in the seventies, and
(28:13):
you know some of these older players. So this is
Lebron firing back a bit at the old heads, basically
saying that he and some of the players now the
stars now couldn't play back in those days.
Speaker 7 (28:25):
But the whole every single day that he's better, He's
not better.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
He wouldn't.
Speaker 7 (28:31):
You're trying to tell me Yannis wouldn't be able to
play an NBA game.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
In the seventies. He wouldn't be able to do.
Speaker 7 (28:40):
Jis Giannis answer the Koupo would have two hundred and
fifty points in a game in a seventies.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Two hundred and fifty Kyrie.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
Irvin they would have caught him.
Speaker 7 (28:55):
No, no, they would have told Kyrie, you're not you
know how they used to tell u lu Ale Sander
at the time that he couldn't dunk in high school games.
They would have told Kyrie, You're not allowed to dribble anymore.
That's what they would have told him. Dribbling is out ruled, man. Man.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
But he's not wrong, he's like, okay, honest, would be
talked about today, he's wrong fifty point we would be
talked about today, like how Bill Russell was talked about.
And you know, Bill Russell was already you know, even
you know, with the way the game has changed, she's
still considered, you know, even you have you know, a
lot of superstars still say Bill Russell was one of
(29:31):
the best players, you know, especially at that time. And
so I see, if you got a Gianness there, Giannis
is grabbing fifty re pounds a game. He's well, Chamberlain,
he likes, he's an athletic freak. He's going to make
sixty percent of his free throws and he's and no
one can stop him getting too the hole.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Could he survive the physicality?
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Dave?
Speaker 2 (29:50):
What do you think I mean, do you think that
he'd have those kinds of numbers.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
I don't know about two or fifty A games, but
I think great players, uh, They're greatness translates into any
any decade.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
Of their particular game.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
So I think the great players, I mean, it's like
the great players in the sixties and seventies. There are
some that believe, well, those guys, they wouldn't they wouldn't
have been able to find a way. They might have
had to have modified their game, but the great players
would have found a way to have greatness in any
decade they play.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
So, yeah, it had been different.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
It had been different for these guys in terms of
the physicality for sure, but it's just like it had
been different for the guys in the seventies in terms
of the pace of the game. And so yeah, I know,
I think I think Giannis would would be a star
no matter what decade thrive.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Calao State is hiring associate head coach Ali Faruk Madesh
to replace Nico Medved of course, left on Monday about
twelve hours after the loss to Maryland. He bolted for Minnesota,
and the assistant head coach for Panesh is now the
new head coach of CSU, so congretiate.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
Like a popular move right, It.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Was, yes for most of the CSU community.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
We talked about it on Monday, Dave that most of
the CSU community, that was.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
The rallying name for almost everybody.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
I see a single person out there saying, don't don't
bring him, don't. I mean they immediately made him interim.
But I think this is the right move. I mean,
you're you're forty eight hours from that move of interim
and you just name him the head coach. You don't
even mess around. This is going to be, as far
as I'm seeing right now, very popular. So I don't know,
(31:42):
I mean, may be not much of a reaction to it,
but I just want to do it a lot. You know.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
Here's the thing, it's the best move for coloradle sake. Yeah,
and I think you keep your recruiting attack. I think
it also helps you gains the transfer portally, as in
like more players won't leave because it's more familiar with
the player. And I think that's the thinking behind it.
Now when it comes to hires, especially now at this time,
is more of like how can we keep our roster
together if we go get somebody from the outside. Are
(32:09):
our guys want to stay or are they going to
hit the terran support? And I think when you do
a move like that, it kind of it kind of
solidifies that most of the guys are going to stay.
Speaker 9 (32:17):
For those that remember, for Rubin Ash was the one
who hit the three pointer for Northern Iowa against Kansas
in the second round to bump Kansas out back.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
And I think it's a twenty ten tournament that is correct.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
So, speaking of the tournaments, join us tomorrow our show
tomorrow from three to six at SAMs Number three Diner
in Barring Glendellen, South Cherry Street for the tournament games.
You can enter to win tickets to Rocky's opening weekend
as well as the Lumineers or Counting Crows. The games
start at a little after five o'clock with Alabama BYU.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
That's the early game.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
As our KWA Tournament Update presented by Xfinity stream Live
Sports for the best seat in the house. That voice
was Benjamin Albright Broncos Country Tonight kind of up here
at the top of the hour, high band.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
How's it going?
Speaker 2 (32:57):
It's good? What's gonna happen with Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 4 (32:59):
Please tell us can go Steelers.
Speaker 9 (33:01):
Okay, but today Schefter was on, I've seen all this
stuff and the Minnesota is playing this thing like a fiddle.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
They're they're they're trying to motivate their young guy. Hey,
we could bring this guy in.
Speaker 9 (33:10):
We want to see you coming back from your rims gear,
your minisca.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Surgery and all this.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
He's not going to Minnesota.
Speaker 9 (33:15):
I talked to a coach on that staff when those
things first started coming out, and he's like, we do
not want Aaron Rodgers. It was emphatic. So there they
keep that out there because Koc and Rodgers have a relationship.
They back in a while or whatever. They're trying to
help him, doesn't hurt them to do that for him
to get more money with Pittsburgh and all that.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
But in the end of the day, he's going to Steelers.
Speaker 9 (33:34):
Wore he's retiring, and I think he's going to Pittsburgh
because I don't think he wants to retire.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
Pittsburgh though, like that can't like I don't know for
me thinking about Ann Rodgers, you know, this can't be
the end and only having one team that's interested. You know,
you're a Hall of Fame quarterback and I still think,
you know, it was a little incompetence of why, you know,
he looked the way he looked last year. You know,
(33:58):
we all like, obviously they got rid of everybody with
the Jets, but he's a Hall of Fame quarterback. He's
still I feel like he still has a great arm.
And why only one team part of it's him? There
was other team.
Speaker 9 (34:12):
So Tennessee came to him a few months back and
he just flat out like laughed at him and said,
I wouldn't play there.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Dave Adam Schefter on a Milwaukee station today said he's
kind of like, look, this is the only team for
you if you're Aaron Rodgers, this is the only team
out there that is interested in your services. So he thinks,
and the way he sort of speculated is maybe there's
a stronger lead towards retiring from Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
What do you think, Well, I think we I mean,
we all love Adam. Adam has been a good friend
for many, many years, and I think he is unbelievably
good at what he does. But it's worth noting that
I think his relationship with Aaron Rodgers is similar to
the kind of relationship Stephen A. Smith has with Lebron James,
so there's no love lost in that deal. But I
(35:05):
think Adam could be right on this. You know, I
think Rogers wants to come back and play. I've said,
I don't know. A couple of weeks ago, I thought
he'd wind up in Pittsburgh. But if that, for whatever reason,
doesn't work, I mean, he's pretty much run out of
(35:25):
options right now.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
That's what it feels like.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
And I think that's kind of where Adam was coming
from in his statement. He mostly said, this is the
only team you've had this offer.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
You know what they're offering. What are we waiting for him?
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Maybe he's just fatigued by the whole process and that
could be just wearing on him a little bit.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
Well Rogers also, I mean, excuse me, y.
Speaker 9 (35:44):
Adam also has Pittsburgh players in his ear telling them
the same thing.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
They were getting worn out by it. They got a culture.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
They're like, bro, you either want to be here you don't.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
Man, who cares? I remember hearing that. I'm like, bro,
if you don't mind Joe business, this has nothing to
do with you. Like, I can't imagine another trying to
tell me to hurry up my decision like that right
there blows my mind that you would go out and
public and tell another man, Hey, hurry up, become you
guys gonna play with us? And now what gives you that? Right?
(36:13):
So like the teleplayer that he needs to hurry up
and make his decision. Otherwise you should have traded for
him if you wanted him. There that bad like that,
that right there blows Like when I heard that from
Cam Heyward, I'm like, are you serious? I know, but
it's like the same bs that Brett Fire was doing
to like the Greg Jennings when he was like you
(36:34):
get your deal. Now it's like like you know, Brett
Fire gets his deal and it's like, hey, hurry up,
ever get back here. You would just hold no, you
know what I mean. So it's just like jo like, man,
if I'm gonna go about like why would you want
to play for that, I'm just saying that, what do
you mean my hey? Like, mind your own business
