Speaker 1 (00:00):
To the KWI Common Spirit Health Highline to bring on
a favorite of ours, romy Bean from CBS four at
romy underscore, being already tweeting out all sorts of cool
footage videos from Ballerina. Roami, thank you so much for
the time.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
How are you, hey, guys, I'm honored to be on
with this trail.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I'm doing good and I'm here way too early too,
So something good to do?
Speaker 4 (00:20):
You know what, You'll You'll get to pick wherever you
want to sit, and that's that's the way to look
at it in the uh in the media seating. So
I mean you you've covered these games for a long time, Roamie.
What when you think about tonight's game? And I was
thinking back the Nuggets, you know, two years ago had
that historic run. They go sixteen to four, they win
the they win the championship, and I had the pleasure
(00:42):
of attending a handful of those games with friends and
it was absolutely unbelievable the atmosphere there. So I'm asking
what what what kind of atmosphere tonight and where do
you think it will rank with some of those games
that you and a lot of us experienced two years ago?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
You know what's so funny day. I think about two
years ago, it was there's certain.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Years you just know it.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
If you knew the Nuggets had what it takes me,
he kind of just knew they were going to win it.
I felt the same about the Ads the year before
in twenty twenty two. This year, I feel like we
all went into it kind of knowing this is going
to be a challenge. What version of the Nuggets are
we going to get? And it's been so tumultuous with
obviously the firing of Michael Malone. Nicol jokichud referred to
it many times like ownership.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Got what they wanted out of it.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
But I think then I thought about how do you respond?
How ol the Nuggets responded to getting absolutely embarrassed, And
the good thing is that history is on their side.
I was looking at it, and you go back to
last year's series with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
They got blown up by twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Six in Game two. They come back, they win by
twenty seven in Game three. The Clippers series, it was
by thirty four in Game three. They come back win
three of the next four. So this team that you know,
they've got the medal, the championship medal to come back
and win, and I think this is going to be
a really buzzing environment today. They really do see off
the crowd of Friday night in Denver. I think it's
(02:00):
gonna be a buzzing crowd for sure.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Hey, Roby rick lewis good to talk to you again.
And by the way, you're Yeah, we were just talking
off the air about how impressive your your rise has
been on television. I see you a lot, so you
do a great job. Congratulations on that. Very cool that
you're doing what you're doing. You're at the stadium right
now getting the vibe, and we talked about this earlier.
(02:25):
I want to get your opinion. We know or pretty
much know what you're going to get from Joker from
game to game. Who's the one other player on this
team that you think has to have their best game tonight?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Well, first of all, for thanks you so much.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
It's really kind and means a lot coming coming from
legends like you, guys. This feels like the obvious one, guys,
and I know you guys said duh. So Jamal Murray
has to have a big game. And the one thing
with Jamal Murray is he does seem to come come
on later in series. He saw that in the Clippers series.
We've seen that kind of historically, saw how bigger games
as the series goes on.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
And this is a game as game three, can.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
We call it a must win? Not necessarily, but this
Thunder team, if you give them a little bit of room,
you know, you give them out the cookie, they're going
to take a mile and.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
So you really have to step on their throats tonight.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
And you need Jamal Murray to really to have a
Murray flurry to set the tone. You need a big game.
I think the big question comes around my col quarter junior.
We know he's ailing, we know he's in a lot
of pain. You know, how does David Adamon management manage that?
You know, in two points in twenty four minutes, those.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Kind of numbers just aren't going to cut it.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
What did he do? He doesn't have a ton of options,
We know that. But Russell Westbrook has continued to be
tremendous in the playoffs. You get the good and the
bad with Russ, but he's been really good and I
think more Russ minutes at this point he's earned it
and could really help you out in that situation.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, completely agree. We're just sort of talking about Russell
Westbrook and if David Adalman decides to, if not start him,
maybe play him a little bit early, especially if things
start to tilt in the favor of the Thunder. And
again we won't know really the usage of Michael Porter Junior,
I think until probably pretty close to tip. But I mean,
as far as you're concerned, is he a liability at
(04:09):
this point or do you still think because of the
way he helps space the floor, you got to keep
playing him if he can go.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
You know, I think this is such a catch twenty
two and you kind of nailed it. But I think
with this series it has become so physical to physicality
is kind of on another level, and I think that
I'm not sure if anyone, including the Nuggets, work expecting
this much physicality from the thunder. And at this point,
I think Michael Porter.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Junior he is doing a best as he can, and.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
He really is contributing off ball in some tremendous ways,
but he's not getting those buckets and with that arm,
you can see there are times, you know, can't even
really push off a defender and it is the no
fault of his own, but I think you have to
make that decision.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
David Alloman stressed that Game two.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
He said, the thunder punch first, second, and third, you
have to have your whole team being able to play
a really aggressive game, and I think that has to
be a consideration as well. That Michael Borter Junior just
physically at this point, I'm.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Not sure he's able to do that last one.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Romi always appreciates the time live from ball Arena. I
know we oftentimes say things like must win sounds kind
of cliche tonight.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Then you got Sunday's game.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I mean, you certainly you'd love to be of three
to one going back to Oklahoma City, But how do
you frame this game and into Sunday's game as it
relates to the series.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
You know, I think, like you said, you obviously want
to take care of home court and win too, But
even splitting. I feel fine with the nugget splitting, But
if you slip, I think this feels like this is
the one that you have to win because of the
momentum that Oklahoma City gained in Game two, and you
just don't want to let that keep going. You don't
want them to really start, you know, feeling their oats,
and I think that you need it doesn't even if
(05:52):
it's a close game, it doesn't matter. But letting them
run away with the second game in a row, I
think would be pretty devastating for how good this Fender
team hasn't been for I mean, there's a reason why
they are. They've won so many games in the regular season.
They had very few close games too, So even if
it's a close win for the Nuggets, it feels.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Like if I had the pick of the two, this
is the one that you.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
That you got to win tonight. Keep that doubt in
their mind that this is going to be a long series.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Rome, you're the absolute best. Really appreciate you giving us
a few minutes from ball Arena and we will chat
with you soon.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Thank you, Thank you guys so much.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
All Right, Roby Bean at Rome Underscore being from CBS,
what do you think about that, Dave? As far as
framing this in the two games coming up here, I
think she makes a great point. If we win tonight
and you at least swing back some momentum, but if
you lose tonight, then the desperation level for game four
is unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Yeah, I said that, Uh, I think in the in
the first hour, I think Tonight's game, I think the
winner of Tonight's game is going to win the series.
If you win Tonight's game, again, you put all the
pressure in oak City for Game four, I mean, the
they have to have that. And if oh City wins tonight,
(07:06):
you put all the pressure on the Nuggets in Game four,
because the Nuggets then have to have it. Neither of
these two teams wants to go down three one. So
to me, Tonight's game, you can find a way to
win it, and the Nuggets are a six point underdog. Again,
I think then just from a psychological standpoint, the pressure
(07:30):
is on Oklahoma City. They I mean, they have to
find a way to win Game four. Neither one of
these teams want to go down three to one, right,
So tonight is and I agree with Romey.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, it's a big deal. I mean, and I think
the framing of it there specifically, Rick, I mean, is
because if you have that doubt and I loved your
point that we were talking a little bit earlier about
the mindset and just the halle of it.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
What about the furries, Well, Dave, he loved that one too.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
But it's really funny and now we have a forever
drop for Rick every time he.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Joins the show.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
But I'm excited about that part. But I think that
mentality part plays such a huge factor. And David brought
this up last week or I guess I'm sorry on
Wednesday when he was talking about keeping the game in
the fourth quarter, like keeping it within reaching distance there
because the Nuggets have been here the Okla Homa City
(08:29):
Thunder have not a blowout.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Loss like that. It can really go both ways where
maybe it shakes the Nuggets confidence a bit, you're only human.
And how about the other way where the Thunder maybe
lets up a little bit tonight. Could be they just
blew them up by forty plus points. Maybe they will
get the same effort here tonight too. Once again, as
(08:52):
great as they are, they're only human. So I think
that can go either way. Only human reference there.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Yeah, quite a few only human songs that Grant.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Could do with the Human League, right, Human League, Human League? Right,
it's good, good, Yeah, thank you good, You're good in music. Well,
I do have a show, Dave on the morning in
the Fox. I'm still on it. I've heard really I
want to throw from the Fox. Know what I used
to love that show. Yeah, used to I mean it
was big. I meant it was big back. I still
(09:24):
love it. Is Kathy doing good? Yes, he's doing good.
I miss Kathy. I mean I see you, I see
you on a regular I miss I missed seeing her. Right, Yeah,
she's great, she's doing great. But yeah, you should maybe
get up a little earlier and tune in. Oh, I'm
up plenty of time. We want you to tune in
what you call the show? How about we get you
(09:45):
on Monday? Like six fifteen. Is sure you don't think
I'm up? I'm gonna say no.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Will you be wrong?
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Really? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (09:53):
He's texted me sixteen Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
And then I apologize. I realized I quit minute. What
am I doing here texting him a sixty? I'm not surprised.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Well, Dave's always thinking about the show.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
He's like six fifteen constantly.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
He's like, I'm constantly thinking about this show. You're total
pro Daviel.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Well, thank you
