moving well with some slowing due to the rain and
also due to incidents and accidents on the ramp from
southbound I twenty five to County Line Road is blocking
all lanes up that ramp.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
That ramp is not usable right now.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Exit at Dry Creek if you were trying to get

C four seventy at Alameda was just cleared out of
the left lane. Traffic is still slow back to Morrison Road.

Speaker 7 (03:06):

Welcome back, Dave Logan, Brian Edwards, Rick Lewis five six
six nights zeros or Kaway, Thomas burdyal Textlan if you
want to interact. We got the NBA Finals startings, and
I will get into some thoughts on that here in
just a little bit. Chris Herris Junior joining us after
five o'clock so today that to watch Broncos practice. Last
day of OTAs we got mandatory mini camp next week.

(03:28):
Here Sean Payton talking about JK. Dobbins.

Speaker 8 (03:30):
Yeah, he's coming in. I think he got in last night.
I think he's in the building or he's going to
be in the building here pretty soon. We'll have a
chance to visit with him and then we'll.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
See where it goes. It's just, you.

Speaker 8 (03:45):
Know, another good football player that we've seen firsthand, I've
seen for a while and the importance of that position group.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
We really like the group.

Speaker 8 (03:58):
Right now, we're working with it. It's just another opportunity
to possibly bring in another good football player to help
us win.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
And yes, that is Sean Payton, not the Godfather. In
case you're wondering, Yeah I was.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I was wondering because it didn't sound anything like That's
what happens when your vocal for the first time at
about four months to a different level. So yeah, He
is a bit raspy, isn't he. Yeah, and there's reports
that he wasn't at the dinner. I guess with JK. Dobbins,
now you can see why. Yeah, he was worried about

(04:30):
being contagious, spreading, maybe spreading, or maybe he just felt
like crap, you know, it.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
Could be Yeah, I mean he'd sort of lost a
little bit of his voice last week when we met,
he met with the media, and then today he was
out there again. When your voice is like that, it
feels like a perfect opportunity to drop into Godfather. I
can't help it. Like you know, anytime I'm sick and whatever,
I like Basie voice. I want to sing all the

(04:56):
basic songs that I did think of well stuff Well yeah, yeah,
I love Lou Ross, Yeah, Sweet Lou, Sweet Lou. But anyway,
so yeah, there's there's JK. Dobbins. What did you think, Rick,
And you heard that news yesterday at the Broncos were
bringing in JK.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Dobbs. I wasn't surprised because we talked about this before.
I feel that they need a veteran running back in
that room. It's a really young, inexperienced room, and you
know R. J. Harvey. We still don't know how good
he's going to be. Now, he may be, you know,
three down back and have a great year, which I

(05:33):
think he's going to have a really good rookie year.
But I would love to see a veteran in there,
and not only these guys inexperienced. I mean we're talking
young estimates still twenty twenty one years old. Blake Watson's
hardly played at all. Julia Mcloughman's played sparingly the last
couple of years. So I think JK. Dobbins would be

(05:53):
a great addition to the room. Now. I don't know
what you have to pay him to get him, as
everybody knows, he's been injury prone his entire career. Now,
when we saw him last year when the Broncos played
the Chargers, I thought he looked real impressive. Then he
got hurt later in the year. Again, I don't think
we saw him in the second game at all against

(06:13):
the LA Chargers, but I remember being impressed with how
good he looked on the field last year.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Well, so the Chargers applied the unrestricted free agent tender
to JK. Dobbins, which means that he'll get a salary
of three point four two eight million for the twenty
twenty five season. So the Broncos, whatever negotiation, if they
do decide to move forward with trying to acquire him,
it would have to start probably basically three point five.

(06:40):
Like you just said, we have to go a little
north of that, because any negotiation below that obviously makes
no sense whatsoever. We talked about it yesterday, David. He said, Hey,
if it ends up being a four million dollar deal,
four million per for over two years, he's twenty six
years old.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
I'm a little uncertain on exactly what that tag means.
So if if the Broncos decide they're not going to
sign JK. Dobbins, or JK Dobbins decides I don't want
to be in Denver, then he can go to other
teams and have similar similar conversations, or maybe he's already

(07:15):
had conversations. But but that number, there's no way he
goes back to the Chargers, is there? There is no?

Speaker 6 (07:23):
Absolutely So it is as I'm reading here, and I've
I've read this before when it came out that it's
it's kind of a rare tender. It almost never gets used,
right because then you're basically guaranteeing his contract of three
point four million this next year on your team. So
if he basically they give get an opportunity to match,
they can they so they they kind of control a

(07:47):
little bit as right, and they get convinced story pick
as a result of it. It's a weird deal.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
You're saying the Chargers could match what the Broncos come
up with and keep JK. Dobbins. That I didn't. I
didn't think that was that was the case. And this
is this is a clause that I'm I'm totally unfamiliar with,
so maybe not right to match. Hold on.

Speaker 6 (08:08):
So this is really contract. If Dobbins remains unsigned by
the start of training camp, the charge will of the
exclusive rights to negotiate with him. If Dobbins signs with
another team before training camp, the Chargers are still eligible
for compensatory pick on the salary of the contract he signs.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
Yeah, so there's no there's no match.

Speaker 6 (08:26):
There's no match.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Yeah, so they would get a compensatory pick depending on
how much money he signs with whatever team he signs with. Correct, Okay, Okay,
And if you're JK. Dobbins and his agent, you want
out of LA. Yeah, with Uh, you got Najia hair
Hat there now and and Harris right, why would JK.
Dobbins want to be there? Does not, So you would
think that maybe the Broncos could get a decent deal

(08:49):
done with them even you know, if JK. Dobbins went
back for whatever, the three point four million, he's going
to be their number three back more than likely. Yeah,
he's to me after Ryan read that, there's no way
the Chargers are going to exercise They're not bringing him
back for a three point four million. In fact, I
mean they had a chance to get a deal done
with him before they signed Najie Harris and before they

(09:12):
drafted the kid from North Carolinahampton. So I mean that
tells me that the Chargers were sort of lukewarm at
best with respect to JK. Dobbinson. What do you guys
think about him? We know he's got an injury history,
but what he's healthy. I think the guys he's an
elite running back in my eyes, Yeah, I mean he

(09:36):
this is a kid. I know it's a few years back.
He came out of high school and I think his
true freshman year, unless I've screwed the years, I think
he rushed for almost two thousand yards his freshman year
at Ohio State. But he's he's an explosive big back
that he's powerful, he can break tackles, but he's he's

(09:59):
always had very good speed for a back his size.
Can you catch the ball?

Speaker 6 (10:02):
Yeah, oh yeah, I mean he's not it's not like
a thirty two last year an elite trades, but he
has the capability of it.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
I think he'd be a great addition.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
Yeah, his final year at Ohio State, he rushed for
two thousand and seven. It was Yeah, he's finally twenty
one rushing touchdown.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
How many he get his first year at Hio State
fourteen hundred? So fourteen hundred right out of heights as
a true freshman in the Big ten. That's incredible. That's
that's pretty impressive.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
Yeah, he's physical. We talked about it, yesh say it.
It raises the floor of your running back room, right
if you add JK. Dobbins, it immediately gives you something
that you can sort of set your feet on because
you just put it out. I mean there's a lot
of unknown in that room, a lot of expectation or
projection that may never get there and it'd be great

(10:44):
if all of these guys end up popping. And oh,
by the way, I thought audric Estimate looked really good today.
Well it's again, it's tough to know what running backs
look like in OTAs and what they're going to be
in the season when pads come on. So I'm not
even saying like today it is like, oh, there's a
couple of nice cuts and some bursts from adric Estimate,
but that's not enough to make me say the running
back room is set right now. So yeah, JK. Dobbins,

(11:06):
we talked about Nick Chubb yesterday. I like the idea
of those additions because those guys know what it is
like to be throughout the course of a wear and
tear in regular season.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Yeah, these young running backs need that guy. Yeah, in
my opinion, they need a veteran in that room, a
guy that can show them the way, show them this
is what you got to do in the National Football
League to be successful. He's been successful outside of the
injury issues that he's had. If you can get him
for four million, I'm in. I think that's a good

(11:39):
deal for him.

Speaker 6 (11:40):
Yeah, it feels like that's about the number. I mean
that we we spow track had that as well as
that sort of the market value of JK. Dobbins. I
mean the charger. You got such a deal last year.
It's like a one point one million dollar contract was
a steal to the production. You know, over a thousand
yard all purpose yards.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Yeah, he would have had over a thousand rushing if
not for missing the last couple of games.

Speaker 6 (12:01):
It's remarkable. But yes, I think that a good addition
for the Broncos running back room, and especially as young
as they are.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
And raw Ralls in Scoey Mitchell were in there. Oh
and they in person. Yeah, they started. They they wanted
me and my girlfriend to sit at their table. It's
not because of me, boy, you got that right. It
was because of my girlfriend. And I just moved to
southern California.

Speaker 6 (12:29):
And did you guys sit there?

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Yes, we spent the whole night. When never saw her again,
did you?

Speaker 8 (12:33):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (12:34):
No, she came, you know, she left with me, Dave.
But those two guys. I was new to Hollywood, and
I thought, man, this is Hollywood. Man, You walking any
place in Hollywood, you're going to run into guys like
lou Rawls love it love it here. Huh, okay, yeah,
Now she went home with me? Yeah, yeah, where'd you go?

Speaker 8 (12:53):
How long?

Speaker 4 (12:53):
How long? That's that was your first taste of poon tine?
I mean, because that was the potatoes and they.

Speaker 6 (12:59):
Did have the.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
Right, yes, right? How long did you guys stay together
after she met Rawls? In a year or two? It
was the long term relationship. Get the hell out of here.
I think Lou scoy Mitchell were probably married at the time,
not together, but I think they were married. You have,
there's three of us here in the studio. All three
of us know exactly who Lou Rawls is. There's two

(13:22):
of the three that have no idea who Scoey Lewis
is Scoey Mitchell. That's why I was talking about scoylo
he is. You're thinking of Huey Lewis. No, I'm not
thinking of Huey Lewis. Who is Scoey Mitchell. He was
a comedian. He was a big comedian, Ryan Ryan, do
you know you'd have to google him? Ryan? No, neither
one of us have. Okay, it was a.

Speaker 6 (13:43):
Cool, funny Rawls I definitely know.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Yeah, yeah, hanging out with Lou me too. That's all
you need to know.

Speaker 6 (13:51):
And then she went home with you.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
It's a good story.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
Of course Dad's in question.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Of course she Dad's in quay. We have no way
to we have no way to prove that. But you
know what I mean, give it his word. And oh oh,
so you don't believe me, David. I'm not saying I
don't believe you. I'm just saying, and I might have
been wearing Pluca shelves. Well yeah, well you know, I guarantee,
and I think she probably did go probably had a

(14:14):
cool disco shot on too.

Speaker 6 (14:16):
If you two are going to ever own a farm together,
you're gonna have to take his word on things like this.

Speaker 4 (14:19):
And bell bottoms. You know, you know you're right about that, Ryan.
If we really are going to do this farm thing, David,
what do we have to build up a trust?

Speaker 6 (14:26):
What a telling?

Speaker 4 (14:27):
Noah say that if the cow got out of the gate,
he would pick up a goat.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
The goat would help him bring the cow back in, and.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
He called the goat the greatest of all time, which
I think is hilarious.

Speaker 6 (14:40):
Yeah, absolutely help save the cows. We're talking about During
the break, some thoughts from trading camp and I Villa
looks really good.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
I wasn't out there. I went out there today. What's that?

Speaker 6 (14:55):
Von Vayla looks really good? He looks really really good.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Say that again.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
I feel like I said it already too many times.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
So you you didn't think Devon Bailey was going to
be no, no.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
No no no no no no no no no no
no no.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
I want to hear.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
I had some concerns about an idea that Dave floated
past me.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
Helped me, will chop my memory.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Dave said, if the Broncos decided to move on from
Courtland Sutton, that Devon Valley makes sense to be the
wide receiver one something to that effect.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Right, they replaced Courtland Sutton, And I said, I'm not.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
I'm not on board with that.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
I'm not. It's not not exactly what you said. Your
first your your your first comment was number one. But
go ahead, So yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 6 (15:55):
I think he's still out there with Courland Sutton on
the field. He's not the one, but he's the two
practices we've had a chance to watch. Uh, he has
been a standout player in both of them. Heyes, he's
been very good, he's been very Congratulations.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Listen, I know this was a difficult moment for you.

Speaker 6 (16:12):
The difficult moment is that I no, I was not wrong.
It was definitely not wrong.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Well you sort of were wrong, Ryan, you sort of
were wrong. I said, Devon V has the ability should
they decided to trade Corlin Sudden. He's a guy they like,
and he's a guy that plays the same position. He's
a guy that could develop into a number one receiver,
So it's it's kind of wrong. Are you going to
allow him on the Devon V bus the train or

(16:41):
train wagon? Yes, because I think that wagon is going
together a lot of bodies and a lot of steam.

Speaker 6 (16:51):
So I can blend in yes with the masses plannel
and all.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (16:58):
Well, I've been a fan of Devon Vley, I just
hadn't gotten to your level just yet.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Don't make it worse.

Speaker 6 (17:06):
I need it just time.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
This is what your level you know, if you google epiphany,
this is exactly. This is exactly that definiely.

Speaker 6 (17:15):
But there are a lot of Menia members in town that,
instead of admitting.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
They don't know much about playing wide receiver play, what
are you saying? I mean, you know what I don't know.
That's no way for you to get out of that one.
You do know, Dave had a ten year career. I
mean about it. Yeah, they've heard, Okay, I've heard. I've heard,
he's heard Daily, Illustrated Daily. I think that carries a

(17:42):
lot of weight. Really, No, I just I just thought
that Veyley, especially for where he was drafted. Oh yeah,
you know what I mean. I mean he had eight
catches I think in the opener. Then he got hurt,
and then he was everybody said, well what's happened to
von Vley? And then I don't remember exactly win, but
maybe two thirds of the season end he resurfaced. He

(18:05):
just he just is a dependable ball catcher. He's a
guy that I mean, he'll make catches in traffic. I mean,
I just think there's guys, especially for this head coach,
there's a place for guys that catch it like that,
that have sort of a disregard regard for their body.

(18:25):
And maybe maybe Pat Pat Bryan is made of the
same same sort of cloth. I really like Pat Bryan too.
How's he looking there?

Speaker 6 (18:35):
He looks really good, you know. I tell you what,
we'll talk about him when we come back. Some more
thoughts and probably some more crow to eat when it
comes we'll get to that next.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
You know, No, I Dave, Dave wasn't confused, Huey Lewis,
and I did show Dave a picture of Scoey Mitchell.
The break vaguely familiar. The face is yeah, right and
interesting me. He didn't try to pick up my girlfriend.
But you know, uh, he never did pick my girlfriend
up either day. He tried. Never in the number. You

(19:14):
don't never. You don't know that anyway.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
I know that ray mc hold on, hold on, and
I defended you earlier, but this time day is right,
thank you. They were absolutely trying to.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Pick up They were trying to, but they never did,
is what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (19:26):
But you don't know that.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
We got out of it free drinks. I was benefited.
I didn't have any money back. So did you ever
think about walking back to the table since Lou Rawls
and Scooey Scoey Scoey Mitchell tried to pick up your
your girlfriend ever walk back and say, bro, like, what's up?
What are we doing here?

Speaker 3 (19:43):
No?

Speaker 4 (19:43):
I was starstruck, honestly, so it didn't matter to you,
believe it. No, she went home with Lou Rawls. She
didn't go home with Lou rawls Well or Scoey. You're
my partner. I'll go with whatever story you're most comfortable with.
But I think we all anybody listening to the story
can surmise exactly what happened that night. Okay, well, you're
reading a little too much into it, because I know

(20:05):
exactly what happened. I Lewis, Well, you may have got
free drinks, Puka shells, that voice Gold records exactly. Okay, Hey,
you know I was new to Hollywood. I got starstruck.
It happens.

Speaker 6 (20:20):
Jake Plumber once tried to pick up my girlfriend.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
I think I think you mentioned that for one time.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
We were at a it's like a it was like
a fashion show or something like that, because because my
girlfriend at the time, her friend was in the show,
so she was one of the models participants, yes, and
Jake Plumber was the special guest something. I don't know,
you may judge or something like that. But anyways, he

(20:48):
brought my girlfriend a beer, like, hey.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Here, you judge your girlfriend to be hid somebody that
he was not in the show.

Speaker 6 (20:53):
She was in the crowd, but he was like, hey here,
here he is a beer. I'm like, what do you
do it? Jake Plumber. I'm a big Broncos fan, and
my voice did crack like that too. Oh yeah, yeah yeah,
and that didn't help.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
What he said be the kid basically, did you buy
drinks for them? I just like, hey, let me buy
both of you guys some drinks. Hey, I'm mister Plummer
and you guys a drink. That's tough competition, Jake Plumber,
it was was I washed it? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (21:23):
It's like the height of his powers, Like this is
when he like the Broncos were yeah, very good.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
And I think a similar thing that I said to Rick.
We all know how that night ended the shoot home
with me. Yeah, you know, I'm not sure.

Speaker 7 (21:34):
I believe that. I'm just I'm just saying I'm just
not sure. It's just not feasible. I mean, okay, I believe.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (21:45):
I believe you. Kind of Come on, Rick, you believe me.
I did believe you. Okay, Thanks, I believe that's good.
Pat Ryan looked good today, you asked me before.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
I've been wondering. Yeah, he's a guy that's going to
be interesting to watch.

Speaker 6 (21:59):
He is. He's a really good route runner. Like almost immediately,
notice that part of his game hasn't gotten a lot
of looks and team just yet. They're cycling in the
wide receivers with the ones, the twos, and the threes.
So like, you know, Corlan Stun's out there with the ones.
That's going to be happening. You know, Devon Veile out
there with the ones, so on and so forth. But

(22:20):
he'll get some time with Bonex, but he'll get some
time with the other two quarterbacks as well. And there's
not really nothing to read into on that. But what
I liked about him almost immediately, and David, you and
I talked about this quite a bit from just watching
him at Illinois is is he really separates himself as
a technician, as a route runner, and and he's got
a really big body. I tell you what, you can

(22:42):
tell the catch radius on guys a lot of times,
just the way I mean when he goes up for
a pass that maybe is out of the quote quote
zone if you will, it doesn't seem I mean like
go go godage of arms. He is a massive catch
radius is impressive.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
Yeah, I think it's uh. I mean you add him
as another ball catcher, he's obviously tough. Uh, He's he's
a wide receiver in college that wasn't afraid. In fact,
he kind of enjoyed digging out safeties, getting his nose
in there. And again, that's what this organization wants, That's
what a lot of organizations want. But I think that

(23:22):
it's going to be interesting to see how quickly they
can get him in the offense with Sutton and with
Devon Valley. And here's here's the reason I say that
those three players, I mean, they're all every player's unique,
but there are similarities in those three players' games. And

(23:46):
normally speaking, when you have players like and Cortlon, Sutton
is much more accomplished because he's he's been a really
good player in this league for a long time. And
you have Devon Vailey who had a really nice first
year last year. And you've here here Pat Bryant, third
round draft choice. So they're on different levels, but they
have a lot of similar characteristics to their game. And

(24:09):
I think you've got to be careful that you also
have somebody in the game or somebodies that can take
the top off, that can expand that defense from a
vertical standpoint. So I'm anxious to see how the entire

(24:29):
you know, with Marvin Mims and my man from Oregon,
Troy Franklin. Yeah, there's a guy that can really run.
I'm axious to see how they sort of mix and
match those combination of receivers. Yeah, Troy Franklin is going
to be another interesting guy. He had the touchdown catch
in the last game of the season. I think he

(24:51):
probably could have had about four touchdown catches last year.
Early in the year, he was letting those go through
his hands and his fingertips. So he's going to be
an interesting guy. I have a feeling you're going to
see him make some progress this year. And Marvin Mims
another guy very similar too. He's another guy that could

(25:13):
if he keeps building on what he was did at
the end of last year, they might have something. Let'
tell you another guy who looked good I thought was
Evan Ingram. Oh yeah, oh yeah, right, Evan Ingram. Let's
just everybody knock on whatever his closest to your body
that you think is would figured outly speaking, knock on

(25:33):
that because if Evan Ingram stays healthy. You talk about
an athlete at tied end and he runs, he he
moves like a big, big, big wide receiver.

Speaker 6 (25:49):
Well, it was so great about him, and we actually
have sound from his press conference today is I think
he's going to open things up for some of the
other guys too, because he is that sort of safety valve.
I we he he leaned into the joker thing today,
which was really funny actually. But yeah, I think more
than anything, he's just gonna be able to be a
big yack player for this team. He's gonna be somebody

(26:10):
that if Bonix needs to get down, like we're stuff's
not opening up downfield, Evan Ingram is going to be open.
Evan Ingram is gonna find himself in open spots, whether
it is by the fact that he gets into the
soft spot of zone or he uses that big body
to box out the dB or linebacker whoever ends up
being on him. But yeah, he's he's smooth, like he's

(26:32):
a smooth runner out there. You notice that almost right away.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
And he's from making athlete.

Speaker 6 (26:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
See, I think he's not that I would disagree in
terms of utilizing him in the middle of the field
and being able to utilize his body, but I think
I think that attribute is more aimed at Devon Vley
and Pat Bryant. I think Evin Ingram is going to

(26:58):
be a down field threat interesting like in the Mims
and Franklin. I mean, I think you'll see Evan Ingram
two or three times per game stretch a defense where
they've they've been able to set something up and they
want to get Ingram behind somebody and here we go. Yeah,

(27:22):
that being said Dave and I agree, I feel like
Evan Ingram, if he stays healthy, that equals another one
or two even two wins on the season because they
have not had that guy at all and they really
missed having a pass catching tight end in this offense,
and he's the guy, so they just in my mind,

(27:45):
that's another win at least one win just having him
on the field healthy.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
Here was Evan Ingram on the quote unquote Joker role
he tweeted out. So he was asked specifically about the
tweet that he sent out of on the Joker and
is what he said.

Speaker 9 (27:58):
No, that's a cool thing just to embrace.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
You know, Sean talks about a lot. It was a
big part.

Speaker 9 (28:04):
Of the pitch coming here and the fans are great here,
so I just was kind of embracing that narrative a
little bit, but I definitely see something. I see that
as something that's got to be earned with the way
I work, the way I come in and learn the
offense and and you know, gain the trust of of
Sean and Bow and the rest of the coaches and
the rest of the players. So you know, that's I

(28:26):
think we got a bunch of jokers honestly on this
team that can have a great role in this offense.
So there's definitely something that you know, I like to embrace,
but something I'm going to go earn too.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
Yeah, I'm any he's got a good vibe. There's a
lot of good vibe on the offense. And today r J. Harvey,
in my opinion, had the play of the day, and
again it's OTA's right run around the shorts, but there
was a it was a bit of a scramble moment.
Bonick's rolling out to his left because we were walking
off the field and RJ he just found an RJ.
Harvey in this sort of touch pass twenty five yards downfield,

(28:59):
like he just just locked it right into the bucket
and RJ. Harvey put on the afterwards after that, but
it was it was just a great little communication moment
because RJ. Harvey went vertical. So when when Bonix left
the pocket, instead of like wondering what he's gonna do,
he just shot straight towards the end zone and Bonix
found him.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
Yeah, I think I think that a lot of times. Actually,
every single camp, teams will work on Hey, when the
quarterback scrambles. I mean you have designed areas based on
whatever the route concept was called, and which side of
the field you're on. You want a guy that's going
to be short, you want a guy that's going to
be medium, you want a guy that's going to be

(29:39):
deep over the top into the vision of the quarterback.
And I mean last year in training camp, the Broncos
like every other NFL team, worked on the scramble rules
and how receivers need to be in the same page
and understand that your quarterback is running for his life.
You've got to you've got to uncover. But but it's

(30:02):
not just guys running around saying hey, throw it to me.
You have you have different levels and you have different
rules involved based on whatever that huddle play was. The
last great pass catching tight end Julius Thomas, I would say, uh,
and a question on the text line, Dave is Ingram
like Julius Thomas. I think he's a little bit. Uh.

(30:24):
I would say he's better in the running game. I
don't necessarily think he's a great nor does he have
to be great, uh inline locker, but I think he's willing, right,
I think he will what Julius Thomas was, you know,
fight Julius didn't really that wasn't his thing. Julius, I
mean truly was a basketball player that just very late

(30:46):
in his career decided, hey, I might be a pretty
good football player. And he was great receiving tight end.
You know, is Evan Ingram going to be as good
in uh receiving at that position as Julius Thomas. I
I don't know. I mean that remains to be seen,
but I will say again, uh, this is just watching

(31:08):
a little bit of the tape today from camp. Very
very smooth for a big athlete. He's not choppy, he's
not stiff. I mean, he's he changes directions and it's honestly,
it's like he's a big, big wide receiver in terms
of how he moves, which is really good.

Speaker 6 (31:31):
Here was Evan Ingram. I thought this was a great answer.
On what he noticed about bow Knicks before he got
here from Afar.

Speaker 9 (31:38):
Uh, you know, I paid attention to the broncos. You know,
me and Davis s Web had a really good relationship.
We got drafted together in New York, and so even
just watching and supporting him, it was always really observant
of a bo Knicks and just you know, it was
kind of obviously as a rookie, kind of slow start. Lad,

(32:00):
sure he's learning the game, but once he turned it
on and you can see it all over the tape,
and so you know, flying around for the visits, got
to download some games on the laptop and watch the film,
and I.

Speaker 4 (32:11):
Mean the potential is just through the roof.

Speaker 9 (32:14):
And even Betters just the way he is as a man,
as a worker, as a leader, and uh, it's been
really great to get to know him on and off
the field. I just just love the way he approaches
Easton every day. I love the way he you know,
builds relationships with his teammates.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
He was I had lunch with him on my visit here,
so he made it a point to be here and
meet me.

Speaker 9 (32:35):
And and even that even at lunch, I was able
to just kind of you know, listen to his process
and and things that he's working on, and just really.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
Impressive young guy.

Speaker 9 (32:46):
And uh, like I said, the potential is through the roof,
and I like to you know, I like to see
myself as somebody that can come in and help his
development and uh, you know, take this team to another level.

Speaker 6 (32:55):
That is really cool.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Isn't that amazing? I was just taking back to a
year from now, a year ago, and a lot of
the National Football League and the pundits were laughing at
the bone Nicks pick and you look at the difference
now and they had a one to eighty. The way
they talk about bone Nicks now in just one season.

(33:16):
I think it's really cool. And something happened this week
that really got my attention to A bon Knicks rookie
card sold for almost one hundred thousand dollars. Wow, which
tells you something else. People that collect those cards have
a lot of money. Not only that, but they feel
like it's a good investment. Kyle Lee. Yeah, and so

(33:38):
you know how many rookie cards would there be outstanding
right now? I like, I don't collect that type of thing,
but it was noted because the difference between last year
and this year and one hundred thousand dollars for bon
Nix card going into a second year. I think that
shows you maybe with the investors think about it, kind

(34:00):
of like people that set odds for for games, they
kind of know what they're doing, and so I thought
that was a good sign as well. That's impressive grand
almost one hundred with ninety seven thousand something for this card.
That's a credit. And they said it wasn't even a
ten out of ten.

Speaker 6 (34:16):
But you know, you have Evans saying that. And then
last week even on defense, Tellano Hufanga, who of course
joined us earlier today, also said the same kind of thing.
He said Boenix was a big reason why he ultimately
decided to come here, and he wanted to add the
qualifier because he's afraid people were going to say this
is some kind of shot at brock Purty. You wanted
to make sure that it was not. But we've heard

(34:38):
from several players, free agents, and even some of the
draft picks that got here that I got picked by
the Broncos. We're excited about the opportunity to play the
Bonux and I agree with you, Rickman, it's like it's
a one to eighty. But he had to go out
there and show it, like in the end. And I
think we talked about this, you know, first several months ago,
Dave like he had to go out there and prove
to this team as well as kind of the rest

(35:00):
the league that he was going to be that guy.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Of course, I think that for free agents, I mean
a money b you want you want to be able
to live. You want your family to enjoy the city
that they're in because they're I mean, you're going to
be working for seven months and really driving to and
from the complex. But but your wife and kids are

(35:22):
going to be out in the community. But you want
to win, and in order to win, you want to
know you got a quarterback. So yeah, I think it's
I think it's pretty evident that the Broncos really like
bow Knicks and they feel very comfortable going into this
is second season that he has got things headed in
the right direction. Earlier, Dave, you mentioned Julius Thomas being

(35:45):
a basketball player, and I thought of their seventh round
draft pick this year, Caleb Blowner, who was a basketball player.
Siven foot seven. Yeah, Oh, you notice him out there?
Is he doing anything that you've seen at camp each
at this point he has.

Speaker 6 (36:00):
Today he caught up a pass into the flat and
it was just one of those deals. I'm like, okay, well,
I could see a scenario where, you know, again a
basketball player boxing out. If you get to the goal
line and then you get him on a course, sure,
get him on a quick out. I mean, who's stopping that.
I mean he's six even not a quick out?

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Yeah right, I mean you just you you go down
at the goal line and dependent on the time of
the throw, you just turn around a body body the
defensive back with that kind of size, I'll be surprised
if he's not utilized several times in the in the
high red zone. You have to trust him. Obviously, you're

(36:38):
on the goal line. He's got to be able to
he's got to be able to catch the ball. That's
what's going to be interesting to watch. He's obviously as
a big, big dude, he's a good athlete, and you
could see that in goal line. You know he's going
to be a tough target to miss. Uh, six ft
seven and fifty pounds.

Speaker 6 (36:55):
No, it's just it's pretty, it's evident. It's it's funny
sometimes because you get out there and before you even
look down at the
