Speaker 1 (00:00):
In studio with US five six six nine Zeros or
KWA Common Spirit Health text line Broncos Country Tonight coming
up at the top of the our Benjamin ol Brighton,
Nick Ferguson will take you into the evening. So we
were talking a little bit about the Broncos, about bo Nicks,
specifically whether or not he's already kind of in that
top ten conversation. I do think for a moment on this,

(00:20):
I do think Dave that some of it is based
on his projection, as in the trajectory of what he's
doing right now. You said, Jaden Daniels for you is
already in that conversation. I think, coming off of his
rookie year, CJ. Stroud had already elevated for a lot
of people into the top ten, top five conversation just
based on Hey, how young they are in their career

(00:43):
and what we think they can do from there on.
So I guess it is I guess up to bow
Knicks and the Broncos to sort of continue that trajector,
And honestly, if we're believing what we were saying about
the wide receiver room, I think he has that chance.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yeah, I think he has a chance too, and I
think I think it's I mean, I think they've done
a nice job of adding some weapons around him. I
think Evan Ingram's a guy that is a proven, proven
commodity at tight end again, smooth outrunner, athletic, He's the
kind of athlete you wanted tight end. He's just got

(01:19):
to stay healthy. If he stays healthy, I could see
him having a big, big year. They've added the wide
receiver position, the running back.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Room, to me, is still still a key now they
you know.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
The Broncos can say, well, we spend a second round
draft choice on a kid that we think is going
to be a really good player, and I'm not so
sure that they're not right. But the rest of the room,
they have to be more efficient running the ball. They've
I think they and I said this before, I think
they left some yards on the field last year. I

(01:53):
just don't think they could ever settle in at running back.
People say, well, that's just that's Sean's style, and he
plays two backs, he plays multiple backs, but it's not
his style to rotate backs. Like on almost every down,
it felt like there was a new back in there,
and I don't remember that being Sean's style. So the

(02:18):
reason you do that is you're not you're trying to
mix and match based on what you're doing to find
the right guy who's better at that thing that you're
going to do on that particular down. The most obvious
thing is the defense understands that as well. So when
player A comes in and then the next down, player
A leaves and player B comes in, the defensive guys

(02:41):
upstairs are saying, hey, it's player B. And then the
defensive coordinator has an idea sort of what he wants
to call against player B because you've shown on film
that's what you like.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
To do with player B.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
And oh, by the way, here's the things you don't
want to do with player B. So they've got to
find a guy that is more are capable of being one, two, three,
first second, third down back and then get two of them,
I think, and ride with them.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
I mean, all the dominoes have to fall the right way,
and Lebroncos have to find a way to win consistently
with the run game. You know, they talk about four
yards to carry. That's what every team that I've ever
been on, that's a standard. If you could get to
that Man, you're going to be dangerous. But I will
tell you this, right R J. Harvey even Oddrick estimated
like you mixed in like the Julia McLoughlin and that Tyler.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yes, that's right, like what you said on Yeah, that's waiting,
that's clicking off.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
There.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
But I think that what Dave's talking about though with
Evan Ingram, if you could stay healthy and you know,
forget what we saw about boon last year, because this
is the NFL stuns for not for long, and it's
a copycat league, so we're going to see a lot
of teams try to take away the things that we
think that bo Nix was really really good at last year.

(04:09):
Teams are going to try to take that away from them.
But man, I am excited about the additions because I
believe that the middle of the field is always going
to be open. Like you got a real true tight
end that you could dictate some coverage and really expose
some matchups. And now the running back room got better,
and I am expecting this team to be a little
bit more committed to the run, finding out their identity

(04:31):
a lot earlier in the year. As far as those
gotta have it runs, Hey, it's third and three. Hey, bo,
you could always check into this play to run the ball,
and this offensive line is going to go get that three.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yards for you.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
So I'm bullish, man, I'm excited about this thing because
I truly believe the middle of the field it's like
seven to eleven, baby, It's always open.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
That's the reason why this Sean was so eager to
move on for Russell Wilson because he wanted to attack
the middle of the field as much as he does.

Speaker 6 (04:57):
You did get very excited about the word.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Wait, well, I mean it just it just clicks better, man.
In yes, man, I'm gonna tell you why it clicks better.
Right in twenty eleven, when I first got to the Broncos,
the offensive line has always done this Vegas trip. And
you know, that was the first time that I got
to Las Vegas. Being that I went to the University
of Miami. I just never got that time to cop

(05:20):
fly across the country to get to Vegas.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
And I remember right when we got there.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
We dropped our bags in the hotel room and then
some guys went gambling. Some guys were just hanging out
a little bit. But we had like a four hour
break before dinner, and once we got to dinner, we
had this offensive lineman by the name of C. J. Davis,
and he started talking about the day that was in
the room we're staying at the Aria. And when I
had first walked in the room, I was like, oh,
what's that. That looks weird. Doesn't even really know exactly

(05:47):
what it was. But we sat down at dinner and
he starts talking about, Hey, fellas at dinner. At dinner,
you know, appetizers, waiting for the appetize. Have you never
been an offensive line room? Everything's got pretty bit. Yeah,
no conversations going on in that in that room, fair enough.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
But you start saying, hey fellas, yeah, yeah, who tried
the bedet?

Speaker 5 (06:08):
And nobody put up their hands. Nobody was even trying
to talk about. Everybody kind of looked at him weird.
I had a weird looking face on me. I got
bad facial expressions.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Do you have like arresting bad facial expression? Guy?

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
I used to have to go and tell my teachers
after the first day of classes, like, hey, I might
look like I want to like.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Upset.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
No no, no, just like mad or upset or grilling,
you mean mugging you a certain way, but I promise
you I just have bad facial expressions. I would tell
all my college teachers that after the first day of classes.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Because I can't have wag.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
You man, this guy's you have a self admitted bad
facial expression.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Yeah, they're bad. They used to be bad, really bad.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
Like I have to like sometimes they like just like
the pace, relax a little bit, like like, don't like
cover in your mouth sometimes I even do that, you know,
just covering up my mouth where you can't.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Have anything to do.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
And I felt that you were like six six and
three ten.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
When I was younger, absolutely, I would try to mean
mug and all that.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
You know.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
One of my favorite things is that like draft video,
like Orlando Franklin to the Broncos and you see my
head come up and he says a mean mug.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
And I was definitely going for that look back in
the day, for sure.

Speaker 6 (07:19):
But are you just like trying to intimidate people?

Speaker 5 (07:21):
Was absolutely six six, three hundred and thirty pounds was
the reason why I got a full sleep a tribal
on my right hand. I was going for intimidation. At
one point, I was wearing the mohawk too.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
I was going for him. Hey, you don't want to
get caught in the alley with him, like this guy.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
Would murder me. Like that's what I was going for,
Like you know, I was going for the look, but
back could be days. Absolutely. So CJ is there and
everybody's like no, and he's like man I promptly like
he's like, y'all need to try it.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
And I was like, man, whatever, dude, like just trying
to move on.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
He's like, no, you guys need to try it. So
he said life changing with that. Yeah, I sat he
said it was life changing. I sat there with that
thought process in my mind. After having a couple of
adult pops and getting some liquid courage, I said, later
on that night, I'm going to try this thing in
my room. And when I tried it, I was on
the toilet for about thirty minutes trying feature. Life changing,

(08:18):
game changer. Anytime I've been in a hotel since I
have oh, beday, I'll be on that thing later on
to night, and I always make a couple schedule a
couple of minutes.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Used to be.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
No, not the track.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
Why was it the treadmill day?

Speaker 3 (08:35):
The back when you walked down.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Yeah, maybe a little walking on incline trying to get
out of the run and the sprints outside.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Maybe yeah, but yeah, right, weren't you a beday boy
by the day game? Hold on, I want to be
saddled with.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
You have a beday?

Speaker 1 (08:55):
I do we have one? In each of you use
it daily?

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Well?

Speaker 1 (09:01):
You know, I try to be regular and okay, okay, yeah, no,
it's uh. I told you dur the break. It was
during COVID when there was a shortage of toilet paper
at Yeah, but I will it wasn't me that directed
to this. I give captive to the wife, to the
rest of the family. But then yeah, you're kind of

(09:21):
like you. You eventually check it out and you're like, you
know what, I get? Absolutely they how about you?

Speaker 7 (09:31):
Yep, right here right now that doesn't have one in
their house. Yeah, but I'm also building and I had
used it, although I was I will say this, this
is a true story.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
The first time that I have actually used the day
that was this year, really yes, and I sort of
stumbled into it like what's button done? Oh oh yeah,
so yeah I would. I'm a regular user but have

(10:08):
used it and it's been just fine.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
You want to treat yourself, just treat yourself.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Well, I don't know that that would classify treating myself.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Oh that's a treat. That's a treat day. You got
one of those at the house.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
The user, that's that's just like, man, you know what,
I feel really good about something that happened today.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
I'm going to go use the bedeta.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Oh god, oh, I don't know if I've.

Speaker 6 (10:34):
Ever looked like that, but.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
You got one in each of the rooms. I know
a muscle memory. You just hit a new muscle memory.
Multiple boys. Wow, wow, I love how you brought up
like tell us about thedet and now your nickname is boy.

Speaker 6 (10:54):
It did not work out well.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Very quickly, just for fun, and I apologize to my
dad in advance for this. He didn't know what they were,
so he would standing over. He thought it was to
fun because he thought much toilet, so he turned that
it's free.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
Well but it's still like starting that second reason.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
I laughed so hearty. That's something I would do. I
could see me doing that.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
He came out of the bathroom like what happened to you?
He's like, I had no idea what that thing was
on the side of the toilet.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
I was like, I just went twelve rounds with the poet, right.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Sorry, back to the Broncos for a second. Great segue here.
I was thinking about this in terms of the Broncos
losing the Bills last year in the postseason and the
way they lost to the Ravens. It's a close game
with Cincinnati, but I think if Cincinnati is firing all cylinders,
they're one of the elite teams in the AFC. At
what point next year will we know or think we

(11:57):
know that the Broncos have closed the app with those
teams in your opinion.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
I don't know. That's a hard one. I don't know
that there would be Maybe there will be one point
I think. I mean to me, it starts with Kansas City,
and I think finding a way to beat them, if
not twice, certainly once.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
So that would be Sunday, November sixteenth, So that's when.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
They it was the first game at home.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Yeah, they host the Chiefs and then they play the
Christmas Day game at Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I think when you when you're you're talking about a
team that has been as dominant as the Chiefs have
been with respect to the AFC West, if you're in
the AFC West. I mean, if you're the Raiders, the
Chargers or the Broncos, you have you have been. You've
been like the step brother. And mom likes the real

(12:53):
son much more than she likes you. He gets steaked,
you're getting grilled cheese. So you you have to find
a way to step up and deal with Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
But I think we'll have.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
An idea sort of how they just how they play
starting early, I mean, starting in that Tennessee home game.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
You know, are they able to run the ball?

Speaker 2 (13:17):
They look like I mean as we as we watch
this game or in my case, as I call this game,
do they look like the better team? Do they look
like this bunch is going to be pretty damn good
as this season goes on.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
Yeah, So for me, it's kind of a little bit opposite,
Like I want to see them face adversity. I want
to see bot Niggs go out there and throw interception
maybe too, I want to see a drop passer or something.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
I want to see like adversity for like two and
a half quarters.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
And how do they now rally together as a football
team where you have no business with how you played?
People are like man Okay, some people have cut the
TV off in a situation. But yet the Broncos find
a way to win, right, And it's like the offense
relying on the defense, and then the special teams keet
carrying their weight as well. Where you see all three phases. Now,

(14:07):
it's like almost like the light bulb goes off.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
But it's good.

Speaker 5 (14:11):
I think that that's when you're like, man, okay, the
gap is closing a little bit, because when you're winning, right,
it's like we're winning, like this is awesome, right right.
I mean, but when you face adversity, it's easy to
be like, man, here we go, or like it's easy
to just be like, don't get hurt, or kind of
like we've lost this game, let's move on to the
next week.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
But to see them like.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
Battle and claw and fight and like end up winning
a game where they had no business winning, I know, I'd.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Be doing cartwheels in my living room. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (14:40):
I think that's a good point.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
I mean, today's point here about Tennessee is, hey, Indianapolis,
can you actually.

Speaker 5 (14:46):
Do a cart will I haven't tried, but I shouldn't
be able to. I was doing them when I was
three fifteen. I just haven't tried in many, many years.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Okay, I cannot. Don't even ask me.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
I didn't even get just I just looked at you
that you can't you I mean seriously, and get on
to your point. So I'm sorry to hijack that, but
you literally cannot do a cartwheel. Cannot do You know
for sure you've tried and it failed.

Speaker 6 (15:12):
I mean tried when I was like high school. I
haven't tried. Like, since you want to do it, we're
learning how to do cartwheels.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
You did it, like, get out there like that.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
So my my youngest, they're both dancers and they both
do gymnastics stuff, and my youngest loves like it's kind
of helps her adhd. She likes to do a bunch
of cartwheels and she'll just do them in the living
room over and over and over again for hours on end.
And so she's like, here, I'll teach you, I'll teach
you how to do cartwheels.

Speaker 6 (15:37):
And I said, just not not a good idea to try.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
I went ice skating with them, and I nearly tore
my acl.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
I thought that was an ice skating is a little
bit harder than doing a cartwheel. Yeah, way harder.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
But I will see me try to throw a baseball
one think about one times of me and trying to
do a cartwheel.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
So what just no coordinations there? I mean, weren't you
You were in the band, dude, there should be all
type of cordinas. You gotta be coordinated to be in
the band.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Yeah, anytime you're playing I was in the band, dude,
you played an NFL. No, but I'm saying you don't
necessarily some kind of be coordinated to be in the band.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
Do you some kind of coordination? We're talking about a
cartwheel here, guys, some kind of coordination, like like, we
don't have to have a whole ability in your body
to get.

Speaker 6 (16:25):
A cartwheel down?

Speaker 3 (16:25):
You want to try during the break?

Speaker 4 (16:27):
No, this is what you do.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Oh and I will spot you. Yeah, we'll make sure
it will spot you. We're not gonna let you break
your neck.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
See this is the thing, Like I could I can
already s here HR being like, don't.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
We don't even have an HR department here, Who's who's day?
We're not even seriously right now?

Speaker 2 (16:48):
If something happened here, God forbid, something happened, dude, how
would you contact HR?

Speaker 3 (16:55):
I am I don't have any idea either. And I've
been here a minute.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
I'm through you, David.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
I can picture me trying to fill out a workman's
comp thing like how did you hurt yourself? Well, it
was there to do a carwheel at forty five years
old for the first time since I was eighteen.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
We'll spot you, yeah, make sure you're okay.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Well, we will make sure that you don't get hurt.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
I don't know, we don't know those shoulders.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
We can post it.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
I mean, we're always looking for content, right, we're looking
for looking for content.

Speaker 6 (17:30):
Why aren't you doing a car wheel?

Speaker 2 (17:32):
I've done a cart Well, I wouldn't be very good
at it, but I could do.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
It, Okay, Like right now you could you could do
a car wheel. Promise, well, see that it's more interesting.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Now if you said, could you stand flat footed and
dunk a ball, I'd say.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Not anymore?

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Not anymore.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
I mean, I wouldn't even want to try it because
I think I'm not I think I would tear both
achilles at once.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
It's not even worth Yeah, no it, Yeah you.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
Stand, I know you could have one time?

Speaker 4 (18:04):
Yeah, you dand flat down the basketball standing right underneath
a hoop no dropstep, no drop step.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
No, okay, that's when I'm off fresh to six seven
plus you're way about one sixty.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
When I put my hand up and I fold the
top of my fingers like this, it's eight feet dang,
so it's already I'm like, I'm already up there. So yeah,
but I the cartwheel situation. I will tell you, Okay,
I understand it. You don't want to try one here, No,
I'm good. But next time you're at the pool, Okay,
I do do that a lot.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
So I haven't done any carter car in the pool
into the pool in front into the pool.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah, like like.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
What's the cement? Like like literally like whit kids? Was
like running? Yeah, absolutely, picture absolutely. I let my wife
do my bathing suit chopping. The wise are not buying
you guys feet them?

Speaker 6 (18:52):
No, like hell hell no, it's not real.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
No no othough, I love it. Why do you got
those two your Yeah?

Speaker 6 (19:02):
I love it?

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Was not blind because like no, honey, no, no, no,
no no. That would be an.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Interesting conversation like, oh, thank thanks for buying us from me?

Speaker 3 (19:09):
What I wouldn't wear.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Speedo back when I could wear a speedo? Did you
ever wear speto ever wrong? Right, Yeah, I did no
jockstrap underneath the i't war jockstrap.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
And you want to wear a speedo.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
It's kind of the same because there you were.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Seriously do you wor do I wear a speedo?

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Now?

Speaker 4 (19:26):
No? No, did you?

Speaker 2 (19:27):
I mean back in the day war with your hundred
and thirty pound as I have.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Worn at once, just because of.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
Where were you Vegas before you got ye that's sure, Winston,
don't go choice the water?

Speaker 6 (19:49):
Yeah, waterfalls?

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Wow, Zach Zach's that's some great Smith level controlling there.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
I like it to like it.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Learn from the.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Best, it's the best, the best brothers. Good tonight, I
throw off the top of the are a reple more
conversation about the Broncos about win will know they've closed
the gap. I wanted to follow us something you said there, David.
So you said you'll you'll know, maybe even as soon
as the beginning of the season, and I think there's
something to that. I mean, you're going to be hosting
the Tennessee Titans, if that is a game that is

(20:22):
I would say, because I don't want to be disrespectful
to Tennessee because we don't know how good, they're going
to be. But if it's a game that you don't
kind of handle your business right, because that's that's what
the good teams do. They handle their business against the
teams that they.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Should It's a game that Denver should win.

Speaker 6 (20:36):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
And I think maybe Tennessee will be better.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
I mean they've made they've made some changes, but again
they that you know, there's a To me, there's a
formula to get to the playoffs, and then once you
get there, you take your best shot. The easiest, the
easiest formula to get to the playoffs is to be
a dominant team at home.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
And we talked about this. So this is the year.
There are seventeen games, there's nine I think at home
this year. Correct.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Okay, to me, easiest way create a playoff formula for
the Broncos. Okay, you win seven of those nine at home,
people say, wow, man, geez, that's okay you.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
I mean, it's been proven.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
That when you're a dominant team at home, your chances
exponentially improve. You don't have to be necessarily a dominant
team on the road. You got to be a team
that is about a five hundred team but if you
can win seven of the eight road games, if you split,

(21:47):
we'll do the math. You got eleven wins, so you know,
can you win seven? Humming, That's a tall task. But again,
and I revert, and I always remind Broncos fans when
you go back, you know, Shanahan got here in nineteen
ninety five, they went eight and eight the first year.
The next year they go thirteen and three. In ninety

(22:08):
six and in ninety seven they go twelve and four,
and in ninety eight they go fourteen and two. In
those three seasons, they were twenty four to zero at
home and lose a home game. So I mean, that's
to me where it starts. You have to and I

(22:31):
think it's got to be stressed to the players, and
I'm sure it is talked about all the time. Hey man,
when teams come in here, we got to make this
an uncomfortable place to play.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
Days over, we are talking about the easiest way and
doing all the math and stuff. I was just looking at, hey,
can we go five and one in the division. You
know that gets you into postseason two? Right went in
the AFC. West's good point. But I do like what
Dave's talking about if you could take care of home field,
especially here in altitude. I remember when I was here
and we would talk about that. That's those were conversations

(23:07):
we had as a football team, exactly what Dave's talking about,
you know, taking care of here and running people out
of the stadium, like by the third quarter, we want
these people huffing and puffing, Like can we put that
type of strain and stress on these guys in front
of our fan base with a crowd that's going to
be we know it's going to be rocking. It's going
to be tough for offenses to operate, but yeah, man,

(23:30):
if you could take care of just when everybody comes
here and find a way to go seven and one,
you're in really really good shape. And now when you
go to the sea level and you go anywhere other
than an altitude, I remember smiling about that, like, hey,
oh we're going to Miami.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
This league your air sea level.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
A lot more air.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
I'm gonna be able to.

Speaker 5 (23:49):
Breathe like and now, like, guys know that and using
that to your advantage. And I want to see just
this team and I think Sean Payton kind of gets it.
And last year was about bo Nicks, but where they're
at and where the Broncos are heading right now, it
should absolutely be El's type of thought process where we
could dominate and take your business and really take it

(24:12):
to a team where now they don't even know what
hit them halfway through the third quarter and they're wondering
when this game is going to be over.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
You have those first two games against Tennessee in Indianapolis
at Indianapolis, and then you got a stretch here at
Los Angeles, who was a playoff team last year, home
against Cincinnati who underachieved to build lightly last year did
not make the postseason, and then at Philadelphia.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
It's a really interesting sort of stretch.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
I think we're gonna have a maybe a good beat
on who the Broncos are that early on. I still
say at the end, you just want to be playing
your best football in December and ls the cliche thing
we say all the time, like, hey, play your best
football at that time. But as we saw last year,
a slow start really can't happen for this team because
you're gonna put yourself into much of a disadvantage, especially

(24:55):
in the AFC. When you get to December. You do
not want to be chasing if you can.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yeah, obviously, I mean you you want to win the
AFC West, just like O said, because if you do,
you're assured of having a home playoff game. And Champagne
was talking about that not long after the road loss
in Buffalo, talking about, Hey, the importance of finding a
way for us to host a playoff game.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Well, you knew exactly what he was saying. He knew exactly.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
I mean, you don't host in the first round if
you don't win the division.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
I said, that is that correct? That is correct?

Speaker 4 (25:35):
That is correct.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
So unless they change the rules sometimes, yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
I mean, I so, I mean, it's about Kansas City
the focus. I mean, there's a lot of games and
every single week will bring new challenges. But but the
offseason to me is they get ready for training camp,
wrapping up OTA's It's about finding ways to knock Kansas
City off the perch and to win the FC West.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Because then, I guess ostensibly, as you play things out,
then you're not theoretically facing Buffalo in the first round.
You assume they probably win the East again this year,
maybe Baltimore, Baltimore, that's right, So you're gonna you're gonna
sort of scratch them off the list, and then you're
you're looking at maybe maybe if Pittsburgh, if things work
out with Aaron Rodgers, I.

Speaker 6 (26:20):
Still don't believe that, but we'll see. Uh, maybe you're facing.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Pittsburgh has a better chance to get to the playoffs
or Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Cincinnati is such a weird deal because again, the offense
is what it is, right, they're gonna they return a
lot of those guys, But the defense, I just don't
understand the plan here because Trey Hendrickson's already threatened to
sit out.

Speaker 6 (26:41):
They just cut their starting.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
Inside linebacker and Jermaine Pratt. It's not to say that
they can't figure it out. It's just to say the
biggest efficiency of that team seems to be weaker.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Now, am I wrong?

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (26:53):
I mean if Tray sits out, I just don't even
know what you do as a defense. He was the
guy that every team was circling in every single week.
He was doing getting it done like Aaron Donald was
for years and years and years right where you're sending
double teams on him. But yeah, he's still getting back there.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
So I guess I say I believe in Cincinnati more
than Pittsburgh to ask.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
You a question, and that's what I was going to say,
because of Joe Burrow. Though I know Joe Burrow is
at Ota is I know like that team could score
a lot of points saying we've seen it? Now, can
the defense find a way to hold you know, one
twice maybe three times in certain dire situations the squeak
out a win or does Joe Burrow beat you with

(27:38):
a shootout?

Speaker 6 (27:38):
I'm taking Joe Burrow over Aaron.

Speaker 5 (27:40):
Rodgers any day of the week right now. If it
comes to a game where no defense is played and
it's going to be one of those high scoring games,
I do like Cincinnati in that situation.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
Yeah, because of Burrow. That's where the faith is.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
But again, I'm I'm a hater if you will when
it comes to what I think Aaron Rodgers still has left,
I'm acknowledging it though.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
It's the first step right congratulations, Yeah, the first twelve
step program. I am powerless?

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Is that like for like thirteen million, it's like a
pretty cheap contract.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Yeah, he just wants to he wants to play. I listen,
I love Joe Burrow, but Pittsburgh is going to be
a lot better on defense than Cincinnati.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Well, yes, very true.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
Absolutely, there always have been.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
And again, if you're going like coaches, I mean I
think all of us would take Mike Tomlin in the
head to head with almost anybody really, although.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Zach Taylor has done a nice job.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
I mean, Zach Taylor has had them two a super
Bowl in one game away from another super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
It's here. Here's my thing with Cincinnati. I think I
think when you talk about Joe.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Burrow and Jamar Chase and t Higgins and they they
have an ability to move the ball throwing it that
most teams do not. That said, if you go back
and look at Joe Burrow's stats from last year, I mean,
he had a phenomenal year. There were people making the
case that, hey, if Cincinnati was a little better on

(29:09):
defense and they won a few more games, there's your MVP.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
He was playing at an MVP level.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
So had the Bengals done anything that we think would
represent improving on defense. I guess the answer is, we
don't know, maybe through the draft or whatever, but they
cut your main pratt. As you said, Trey Henderson's talking
about not signing. So do we think Joe Burrow is

(29:36):
going to be as good. I mean, I think he's great,
but is he going to be as prolific as he
was last year? It is hard to do in this league,
even if you're Joe Burrow back to back.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
I've been present. Good to see you had accounted for.
How was your weekend, my friend?

Speaker 8 (29:58):
Pretty good, relaxing, nice relation week, very nice, very nice.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Sunbathing in okay, inside, some bathing? What is that outside?
Some bathy?

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Okay, I mean inside. You said some bathing in. Sun
bathing worked out last week.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
You came in here with you deserve it.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
Sun's out, water pistols out.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
You know you weren't looking. You weren't looking.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Swoll you gonna go that far?

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Nobody's buying that at all. So you think Ryan can
do a car will well, I think you can do
him round off.

Speaker 8 (30:35):
I don't know if you could do a cartwheel like
legs extended cartwheel.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
No, I think you can do a knees bent roundoff.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Though a roundoff is like half a cart half we'll practice.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
Half credit, Okay, we'll practice is six. That sounds good.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
By the way, just seeing this Nick Underhill, who covers
the Saints, says that Cam Acres is going to be
trying out for the Saints this week, So we're talking
about running backs potentially could be available, you know, the
Broncos of course, having JK. Dobbinson last week and then
we found out Nick Chubb now with the Texans.

Speaker 6 (31:05):
Ben what does that do to the running back market here?

Speaker 3 (31:07):
Well, I did.

Speaker 6 (31:08):
I mean in terms of viable guys that are gonna be.

Speaker 8 (31:11):
Good for you know, a significant chunks of reps. That
that market is much much more narrow now. So I
think you fear the Broncos. You you know, you might
want to accelerate that process a little bit.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
Do you expect they will accelerate that process?

Speaker 3 (31:24):
You think they've been talking the whole time. We'll see
if they get it done. You know, I believe that
they will, but we'll see.

Speaker 9 (31:31):
I agree with Dobbins, Yes, okay, all right? Significant reps
though then yeah, he said Sean Payton offense man, I'm like,
so what does that look like?

Speaker 8 (31:42):
I mean, the Sean Payton offense usually is a three
headed attack. You go back and look at the various
different backfields that they've had, you know, with mark Ingram,
Latavious Murray, Pierre Thomas Sprolls, Reggie Bush, all those.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Guys, they can shuffle in it out.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
I mean significant twenty five percent reps.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
I could see JA can get twenty five percent.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
I would say if they signed JK. Dobbins and R. J.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
Harvey is who they hope and think he's gonna be,
I would say those two guys are going to get
the lion's share and then maybe back see is maybe
short yardage and you know, free usage that kind of stuff,
and then maybe in trouble at that point.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
But I but I think if it's Dobbins and if
Harvey again is who they think, to me, it's a two.
It's a two back room with a little you know,
sprinkling of the third guy.

Speaker 5 (32:35):
So seventy to JK and and or Harvey and JK.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Yeah, And I think the I think they may just
depend on who's the who's the hot back, right, I
mean the more R. J. Harvey proves he can handle
the workload, and I mean you're gonna you're gonna see
him play.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
Yeah, let's pick up, let's pick up, right,
