Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right now, we're gonnad out to the Kiwi Common Spirit
Help Hotline and bring on Cadre Ishmael, who of course
always helps us preview the Broncos and the Ravens. This
is a it's an annual tradition, man, every time we
get a chance to talk about the Ravens, we bring
on Cadre. You're all with Alfred Williams and Ryan Edwards.
How are you, man?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yeleman, I'm doing well sitting back here and I am
not pressing the I panic button out west or out east,
but y'all looking good out west? Yeah, I got yourself
a quarterback. Thanks.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
It's gonna be a big game, Quadra. I got I
gotta talk to you, man. This is uh, this is
the best version of Lamar Jackson. I think I've ever seen.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
No doubt.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
But but but I got to ask you about his frustration,
his outwardly showing a frustration and in a couple of
losses that uh, that that at the end of the
game where you know, he's tossing helmets and he is
just irate about how things have gone. And you know,
like I know, this is an emotional game, but at
(01:04):
the same time, you know, you got. You gotta keep
your cool and keep your focus. It seems like he
is more focused and more driven this year than I've
ever seen him. Is that about right? That is?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
And I think offer what you're seeing normally, the quarterback
is the poise guy. The quarterback is a stoic one.
The quarterback kind of soaks it all in, sees it
win or lost, speaks to the media, goes home, and
then you know, either yells out or sits back in
his and is really quiet and and kind of like, Okay, refocus,
(01:37):
next game up. But I think this is Lamar Jackson,
year seven, two time MVP, has a really good opportunity
before him. He had one last year when he went
to the AFT Championship game. Is the number one seated
team in the NFL. Didn't get a chance to get
(01:58):
it done. And and I think for him, it's about legacy.
It's not about winning multiple MVPs. It's not about being
recognized as you know, the best regular season guy and
all that. It's about one thing for him, and that's
super Bowl. But to do that and how that championship mindset,
(02:22):
it takes an extreme sacrifice from everyone top to bottom
on the team. And I think for him, you know,
he wants everyone to get on board with the vision
that he has. It's Super Bowl or bust Kadre.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
How are fans feeling about this team right now? It's
one thing to lose opening night to the Kansas City Chiefs,
who are obviously going to be with one of the
best teams in the AFC, But losses to the Raiders
at home and also just last week to the one
win Brown's team. How are fans feeling right now?
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I think there's a little bit of frustration when it
comes to playing down to Europe own it because you're right.
I mean, he shouldn't have lost to the Raiders. You
look at a team like Cleveland, they lost five straight.
They had Jameis Winston coming in, you know, Kim Dorsey
was his new offensive coordinator, and they looked like they
(03:17):
were you know, best buds for forever. They were slicing
and dicing the Raven secondary. And I think that's what
is frustrating to this this fan base. I mean, the
flock feels like labar fields. This team is built to
win the Super Bowl. Okay, well, then you're supposed to
beat certain teams and then the teams that are competitive,
(03:41):
like the Kansas City Chiefs. Those are the teams that, yeah,
you're going to have a shootout and see who's going
to blink first. You know, you had a great game
against a hot Bills team and just literally took them
to townel right from the first offensive snap. But to
consistent lead do that against teams that you're supposed to
(04:02):
do that against, Allah, Cleveland, Allah, the Las Vegas Raiders,
That's something that has been a frustration point for the flock.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
You know, I got you know, I talk to my
partner here, Ryan Edwards, about being a pro in this
league and in my opinion, and I imagine you would
probably feel the same way, there is no.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Good team.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
There is no bad team in the NFL. You control
your effort every single week. And when you control your effort,
you've truly become a professional. And every now and then,
I do believe that coaches can really really dictate how
the game of the outcome of the game. But as
a player, and I just want to get your opinion here,
(04:48):
it's in my opinion, it's up to you to be
a pro every week and give a great effort every
single week. What do you say to that.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
You know, Albert, it's so interesting. It took me a
good I don't know, three four years until I figured
that statement out. I don't know if the fans remember
the great legendary forty nine ers running back and Roger Craig.
And Roger was with the Minnesota Vikings when I was
(05:19):
a rookie. And you know, we're in the midst of
mini camp. You know, I'm sitting there like fresh legs,
fresh eyes. Wow, everything is great. I'm in the NFL.
Oh man, look at that guy. Look at that guy.
Oh wow, this is amazing. Thing. Came up to me,
put his arm around me, said, que niskey, let me
(05:39):
tell you this. You gotta take care what takes care
of you. And it took me a good four or
five year to realize that. And I think you know,
and the NFL. Not every coach is a good coach.
Not every coach can really help you be the best
you you can be. Not every teammate is warning your
best interests. There's some marcissists out there that are extremely
(06:02):
selfish and they just want you to do bad, even
though you're they're your teammates. And then you have your
own inner struggles and demons that you gotta like face
and you got to go against and you got to,
you know, figure out for yourself, what are your strengths,
what are your weaknesses, How do you handle adversity? What
do you need to help yourself be the best you
could be on Sundays? And I think all of that
(06:26):
spells out being a pro. If you could figure those
pieces out, then you can understand what it's like to
be a pro. And I think that's where you get
the best your team, you yourself. All of that you
get the best version of you. And if you are
a superstar, you've.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Been you know, blessed with the gift of the DNA
to be an amazing d lineman that you know is unblockable,
or you're a great offensive tackle that you know it
doesn't matter who.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Goes up against you. Or if you're a corner and
you just sit back and you spit on the ground
and be like, ah, I dare you to cross me
because you ain't going to. Or if you're just a
running back you just get it, or if you're a
receiver and you're just making one hand catches like it's
no big deal, that's all awesome. Well, how do you
sustain that? And the excellent ones regardless, they sustain it
(07:17):
on and off the field, and that's what makes them
and separates them and makes them great.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Kandrea, last what I have for you, appreciate the time.
Just wanted to ask you. How are Ravens fans viewing
the Broncos? You got to go quick turn around. You
got the Bengals on Thursday night following this game. I
know the Broncos at five and three are a bit
of a surprise for the rest of the league. How
are Ravens fans viewing the Broncos?
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Well, I mean it's interesting. I think we know you're
a good team. We know that. Yes, defensively, that's where
you guys make your hay. But we have a a
offense and offense that features two studs and Lamar and
(08:03):
King Henry. At the same time, the not so much
it's you, it's so much us. There is this fear
that our defense just flat out sucks and not going
to get better and will cost us an opportunity to
win a championship. And oh, by the way, Denver comes
to town. Both Nix's poison enough doesn't really make that
(08:25):
many crazy mistakes and long Sean Payton doesn't get fancy
with the spices with the play calling. Y'all gonna be
in the game and hopefully the defense will hold up.
But that's what I think our fan base is feeling
right now.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Real quick, you said something that I've been harping on
for the last two or three weeks. Tom Payton and
the spiciness of the play calling. Explain that to the
fan base by what you mean there?
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Real quick, You'll be looking at the defense. You'd be thinking, oh, yeah,
you're over pursuing. I'm going to trick you and some
how have the ball out of my quarterback's hand and
put it into a ramback receiver's hand, try to throw
it and.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
It's going to be incomplete, but it's gonna look good.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
But then it's not. And then oh, oh wait a minute,
we're gonna have this formation that makes no sense. And
then all of a sudden, the defense is like, all right, bet,
we're just gonna go ahead and stuff you. So it's
you overly thinking they're smarter than the defense. And then
you got to realize that that's not how you play
pro ball. And so I think sometimes you you get
a little too fancy with the spices and you wind
(09:31):
up looking dumb. Here Andy Reid without the Andy Reid hardware.
You only got one like ring that says you're in
the exclusives club, but Andy has multiple. You don't. Don't
be Andy Reid, be yourself.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Kadri you oh my goodness, that didn't mean for that
bright Bob coach.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Boys, my goodness.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Hey, it's great to catch up with you.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Man.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
We really appreciate the time.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Thank you, brother, appreciate the thousands always.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Alright, he's the best.
