Speaker 1 (00:00):
Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
Everybody, welcome to it. Here, Bryan, there's many Jackson in studio.
Speaker 1 (00:03):
Om the jack Nasty. That's right, Hey, hey, hey, what's
up man? How are you? I'm pretty good. It's it's
a gorgeous day out there, isn't it? Fantastic? T shirt day?
T shirts say not for you? I die. I got
the T shirt on it. Like the fake flannel over there.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
A fake flan yeah, faux flannel with a T shirt though,
and then you a T shirt.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
It's just sort of flex. You know, you're you're built better.
I have a hoodie in the in the in the bag.
If it gets cold, it gets chilly here. Well, the
sudden goes down.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I mean it's like five o'clock now, like a sudden
goes down at five o'clock and it gets a little honey.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
But you know what, it's a it's a it's.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
A special day in my house today because it's the
day the cleaners come. Oh yeah, it's really fun.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
You know.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
My wife and I have a really great relationship except for.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
The twelve hours before the cleaners come. Every time.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I think we almost got divorced three times in the
last half a day, but we made it through and
it always I mean, I got a one year old
and a five year old. It's hard to keep that place.
And then you got to clean for the cleaners, and
what do they do when they come? You've got to
clean for the cleaners. Yeah, that is that is absolutely
the truth.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
We've we had different iterations of my life, we've had
that opportunity.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
We do not have that right now, but I've thought
about it, like, you don't have cleaners. We do not, ye,
I don't want them. Well, you're right, because it's.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Actually more of a headache sometimes to get rid or
to get ready for to get ready for the cleaners.
It gets I spent a whole day doing it, dude,
it's right.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I had other things I wanted to do cleaning the
house for the cleaner, right and last night.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
I was like, hey, maybe we could cancel it because
I have a lot of things I need to do.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
She's like, yeah, they'll be. They're telling a.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Mom like young kids, like hey, we're going to cancel
this sea you no, no now?
Speaker 1 (01:45):
So I spent my day doing that. I'm glad you
still have all your fingers and yeah I do, Yeah,
I do.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
The good thing is within twelve hours of them leaving,
it will look exactly the same as it did two
days before they came.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
So you know, at least it's money well spent. They'll
smell a little nice. I have the toilet. Yeah, that's right,
it's right. Yeah, like there's.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
A pine sal or something kind of Yeah. I think
I always felt like like the last person to just
like spray that around the house and then I like
walk out, like, oh man, really it does smell nicer
in here.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
I will you give that like the new car scent
kind of right? The clean house sent Hey, you could
market it.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, I'm sure people have. They could probably call for breeze.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
But uh, by the way that stuff is like chemically, like,
do not use that stuff. I mean, listen, I'm not
I don't know, there's like the opposite of endorsement. But
I'm just saying, don't for breeze is like got some
like chemically yeah. Yeah, So very quick story on that.
As a younger man in my twenties, when I was
without somebody, uh and I could do my own laundry.
(02:46):
I could do my own laundry. I just you know,
do you ever see Ghostbusters two? You don't see movies.
So I've see I mean Ghostbusters. When did that come
out in nineties?
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, I mean I remember one. I don't remember too.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
So anyways, and then and there there's a I think
it's it's Bill Murray talking about I have layers and
levels of clean and that. Then I was stuck with
me because I don't have just like clean and dirty,
like it's then a black and white thing for me.
I'll wear a hoodie several times before I throw in
the laundry, you know, I'll wear like underwear.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
That's different but like other things.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
So I just got to give it the sniff test.
This is gonna yeah, this is not gonna be a
good story for me. I'm like already off the the
end of the high dive here. Anyways.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
So what I would do, because I didn't always want
to go do laundry and I had to go like
to a laundry mat, I would spray my clothes down
with for breeze so it would seem as though I
was wearing clean clothes. And and my current wife, who
have known me now for like twenty some plus years,
she reminds me of that every so often, of like
you remember how you used to spray your clothes down
with for Breeze, as if that was like somehow cleaning
(03:55):
your I was like, well, listen, they were running a
lot of commercials at the time, and it was talking
about how this like you know, got into the fabric
and like what so I believed in the.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
It absolutely works on me. And then you sprayed yourself
with XE body Spray and then you were ready for
your date between Xbox Spray Delicious.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
It's amazing. Anyways.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
So yeah, by the way, Ian Rapport says that JK.
Dobbins is going to be out week eleven and for
the foreseeable future.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Yeah, that's that's the thing that that just came down.
Not good. Yeah. I talked to RJ. Harvey in the
locker room for the pregame. I don't know, man, I
I've bought in to the.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Broncos have the sufficient depth to not only play.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Well in this game, but win it. I like it.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
How are you feeling I think they have the sufficient depth?
Will they have the game plan and stick to it?
Speaker 4 (04:52):
You know?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Will they take advantage of the things that the Chiefs
don't do well? Will they Will they allow r J.
Harvey to really get a ladder going and get I
think you should get twenty carries. That's what I think,
you know, I think the Chiefs are vulnerable at the middle.
This offensive line wants to attack. We pay him a
ton of money not to pass pro. I mean, yeah,
pass pro is important, but these guys are maulers. Let's
(05:15):
go let them all and then Bonix will obviously feel
more comfortable back there. I think it's just the mystery
of what Sean Payton is going to do here with
his game plan. To me, doesn't allow me to really
be very confident that the Broncos are gonna win. Bottom line,
I think they have the ability to.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Despite all of the comebacks this year, despite them, yeah,
defying odds over and.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Over against six and two and one score games.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Just throwing that out there that you just don't you know,
bind it. No, I gotta see. I gotta see him
beat the Chiefs. When the Chiefs are trying to win.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Well, they they almost did with a field goal hold
on the black field goal, which is a pretty fluky play.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Almost only counts when you're shooting for breeze on your're.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
On your clothes. I'm gonna regret that.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Look the only time they beat the Chiefs was last
year here when the Chiefs didn't play any of the guys.
So the Broncos have yet to beat the bully on
the block. The Chiefs have their number energetically. I need
to see the Broncos come out and say we're the bullies,
you're the little brother, We're about to handle you.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
And so until I see that.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Sort of energy from the Broncos and then to me
an offensive game plan that matches that approach, and how
do you.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
What do I mean by that?
Speaker 3 (06:26):
I mean it means that we don't have to get
too cute. We're going to go beat you up. We're
going to come off the ball and attack. The play
action passes will open up if you do that. But
I want to see some pace and some dynamic explosivity
from the offense to start the game, and we haven't
seen a lot of that.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
And so that's where my consternation is.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
The Chiefs they got mind control man over the Broncos,
like you know, like Friday, the movie Friday Debo Deebo.
They have that mind control, and until the Broncos supplant them,
I can't feel really confident going into this game.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
And the Chiefs are favored. They are favored, which is
an interesting uh line. Broncos rating two, they're five and four. Yeah,
everybody three and a half. Yeah, it feels weird. It
feels it feels weird. Although if you listen to and
I Boy I Got I got into it with a
Chiefs fan today on Twitter. I was having some fun.
I was having a little bit of fun. I decided
(07:19):
to tweet out.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
You're you're seeing make another movie reference here the Kaiser.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
So yeah, I mean that's like everybody's seen that, right, Yes,
at this point you kind of have to talk about
the movie. Yeah, Suspects, Yeah, sorry, the Kaiser. So the
character obviously, I don't want to spoil it for anybody,
but at the very end of the movie, it's not
a movie you can Yeah, it ends up being, you know,
(07:44):
one of the characters along, he's got this limp and
then all of a sudden you start talking normally. I said, well,
how about bo Nicks playing poorly on Thursday night against
the Raiders and then Kais are sosying the Chiefs and
then going out and lighting them up. Now again, I'm
pulling on this from actual history with the Broncos and
(08:04):
with bow Nicks because after the many by last year
versus the Saints, and the Saints he struggled. He ran
the ball around a lot, and then defensively they did
what they did because Spencer Rattler at the time was
very bad. He went out and he threw like eleven touchdowns.
There's one interception game with the Ravens and that was
just that was then ugly game from start to finish,
(08:24):
like they just had no business in that game.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
But everything else competitive. They won a couple of games
in there.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
They did lose to the Chiefs in there, but he
had he had a touchdown in there, but they had
eleven touchdowns seventy three percent completion rate over the next
four games out of the by and at that point
going into the Saints game, there are a lot of
people like that, I don't know about this guy. I
don't know about this offense, and suddenly he turned it
on after the mini buy, so I decided to send
out the tweet. Now again, there's a lot of people
(08:52):
out there that really believe in the Chiefs, and including
Chiefs fans who.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Saw that and they're like, oh great, hey, chow in
the water. And then you responded to the responses.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Some of them, Yes, how does it make you feel
when you get into it like a Twitter thing going?
Because it doesn't make me pretty gross, pretty gross. And
then you're like hanging out with your family and then
you're like looking at your phone and these things and
they're they're.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Like, Daddy, do you want to play?
Speaker 3 (09:13):
You're like, oh, craft an angry response to a stranger
and missus fan five.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
It's an insulted button. Tell you don't understand, honey, I've I've.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Been better, like you know, Dave would say I haven't,
but I I think I've been better about getting into
those back and forth. But today I wanted to. I
wanted to smoke because I really think they're gonna win
this game. You do, Yeah, I do.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I do. It sounds like you don't, though it's not
that I just don't know.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
You know, I know, and I know we're not in
the business of being like waffling.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
You know, I would.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Appreciate that versus like I had a host with Ben yesterday.
I was forced to just kidding, just kidding, I love you,
but I was I was fully hosted with Ben yesterday,
and I said, I think they're gonna win this game,
and he's like, whatever, they're not gonna win this game.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Has enjoying vampire, Yeah, he's a joy. Has he picked
him to lose like every game in the last yes,
Now he keeps arguing that it's a bit like I'm
against them.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, but he's he's legitimately now the Raiders game he
picked like three to two, But every other game he
thought the Texans were gonna win.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
If the Cowboys, we're gonna.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Heat the like over and over and over again, said
the Broncos won't be able to hang with this team
so much to your point about I gotta see it.
Have you not already seen it? Not against this team?
Oh so it's this team. This is the it's the Chiefs. Okay, gotcha.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
They almost beat him in Arrowhead, I mean, giha, that's
what they call it now, which I think is funny.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
But yeah, but they almost, they almost beat him, but
they haven't beat him.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
And Andy Reid famously is like unbeatable after the bye, right,
so you're going up, you're twenty one to four. You're
not gonna out scheme these guys.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
That's that.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
That's what I'm concerned about.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
And Sean Payton seems to value the scheme over his guys,
just dominating physically. I heard him talking again about seeing
the touchdown reel after every week and deciding which ones
are just a player making a play and he's just
kind of just a player. Or when a guy's wide
open and he schemes him, so that's what he It's
(11:16):
what's in his mind, the scheme, scheming a guy wide open,
when instead it's about going and kicking the butt of
the guy cross from you with more energy, more power,
more pace, just overpowering and overwhelming them. That's what I
think these Broncos need to do to the Chiefs. It
ain't gonna be perfect. It's okay if you fly around
and make some mistakes, but I want to see this
(11:38):
particularly offense come out as the aggressor. Because the Chiefs
are a very sound team. They're ready for Sean Payton's tricks.
They are, and Andy Reid he's ready for what they're
gonna do on defense to an extent. So it's gonna
be I see that as kind of a wash.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
It's gonna be my.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Guys versus your guys, and I think that uncles do
have the guys to beat the Chiefs in that kind
of a game. But that has to be what is
preached all week and what Sean Payton instills in them.
Not that my scheme's gonna save you guys. Just trust
me here. No, I'm counting on you guys to go
beat their butts because I'm gonna call some players that
(12:20):
aren't gonna work. A lot of the stuff we do
isn't gonna work. Guess what, some of the players we
work on all week. We're gonna run it. They're gonna
be right there, They're not gonna bite on it. You
got to go make a play. You've got to make
a man miss. You've got to do something extraordinary. I
think the Broncos can do that. But am I sure
of it?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
No, there's no certainty, absolutely not, never certainty.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
That's what's beautiful about the league.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah, and that's why the confidence, the brazen confidence from Chiefs,
fans and media that I think in a lot of
large persons don't believe what the Broncos are selling right now,
that's where this comes.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
It surprises me.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
It surprises me to have brazen confidence, especially the Chiefs
coming off of a game where Patrick Mahome's played terrible
against the Buffalo Bills. He was bad forty four percent
completion rate, zero touchdowns, one interception, he got popped several times,
took three sacks. I mean, he struggled in that game,
and that was heading into the buy. So then it's like,
all right, well, our last example is of an offense
(13:24):
that really had a tough time. Rachie Riyce had a
couple of nice moments, and they say had a couple
explosive plays. The Bill's defense also gives up explosive plays,
and they're also historically it's a team you can run against.
They couldn't run against them. So I don't know. Again,
maybe i'm this place. I'm not trying to sound overly confident.
I'm just confidence, Like I think the Broncos are made
of the right stuff. There's some unquantifiable about why I
(13:48):
like the Broncos chances, and a lot of it has
to do with if this is a one score game
in the fourth quarter at home, I like them to
be able to come back and win.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
It because of the recent history, because of what they've
done this specific gear.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
And meanwhile, the Chiefs are the opposite their own four in
those one score games but seventeen straight prior to that, right, No,
the Broncos broke the streak. No years, Broncos seventeen straight,
I'm sorry. The Chiefs seventeen straight one score game victories.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Last season, and yeah they the prior season. Yes, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
What I'm saying is they have the muscle memory for that.
We can't think that they just forgot how to win
close games. This is a team that knows how to
beat the Broncos. The Broncos have to exercise these demons.
It's not going to just be like playing the Texans
or playing the Raiders, or playing the Cowboys or coming
back against the Giants.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
This team has your number. They know how to.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Hurt you, they know where you've been hurt, and they
know how to press those wounds. The Broncos have the
most to renounced out of anybody in the league, the
most punts out of anyone in the league. Also true,
That's why some people are not sure about these eight
and two bron That's why the line is I think
where it is and obviously the precedent in this division
(15:04):
with this team that has mind control over everyone in it,
including the Broncos. Sean Payton was here, brought here to
change that. He took this job fully expecting him to
do so, but easier said than done. I think that
the Broncos need to have some big plays in which
a player makes a special play. I know Sean Payton
(15:26):
doesn't like those plays. He'd rather be have a guy
be wide open. It ain't gonna happen. You've got to
go up and make a play. That's why Courtland Sutton
needs to be have ten targets in this game. We
need to flip what's been happening Troy Franklin. He's been
playing well, but he can't be our number one receiver.
We can't have all of our targets going to Troy Franklin.
Courtland Sutton is the more seasoned player, He's the bigger target,
(15:49):
He's the bigger has more big play or I'm sorry,
big game experienced him. We need to lean on him
and keep that keep that Chief's offense off the field.
So those three and ows have to stop, and it's
gonna be a really fascinating game.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Absolutely got a lot.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Of texts coming in on the ka Comma Spirital text
line five six six nine zero. A couple of housekeeping
on its First, we have a passer Tan join us
here about ten minutes. Look before to that, we will
checking with somebody from the Chiefs. Have four to thirty,
We've got gas, We've got the Maverick gift cards to
give away.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
We have three to one per hour.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
We also have Broncos Packers tickets to give away after
five thirty with our coach's corner. So that's gonna be
a lot of fun. So we've got a lot of
cool things coming up here. A couple of techs.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
Though.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
The national media and their short attention span really just
don't care about the defense. Well, they acknowledge the defense,
They just think that the offense is gonna eventually screw
things up for them.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Right.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
The mindset is the defense can only do this for
so long before and there's there's president there. Even here
in Denver, we've seen it where you've had very good defense,
but the offense continuing to not do their job eventually
impacted what the defense is, their efficacy.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
I mean, it is what it is.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Right.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Does Nate Jackson know that we beat the Chiefs twenty
four to nine in twenty twenty three, He does know that.
I think he was talking about their one game win
streak with one score win streak, right, Yeah, the ron
Gos with Russell Wilson. I beat the Chiefs a couple
of years ago. Yeah, and I'm not counting last year's win.
That's that's a different deal altogether. No, nobody, no serious
person should be counting that. Susie chiming in for anyone
(17:25):
who thinks we can't beat the Chiefs but beat the.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Eagles, what is the nation? What does the rational reasoning
for this?
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Well, some people think that the Eagles win was a
bit fluky, and they think the Giants win was fluky, right,
because your percentage to win those games, you know, be
via the metric or whatever, was single digits. Like, there
was a lot of reasons to believe that they wouldn't
win those games, and they found a way to win them.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Now, that could build confidence.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
It can also build confidence maybe the other way too,
where you suddenly think that you can do almost anything.
But I'd rather than be believing in things like that
in the opposite then that we're going to come up short,
We're going to lose, like they lost against the Colts
and lost against the Chargers. You know, those were we
came up short.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Moments.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
You know, they could have let that really impact them
for several games. They could have let the Colts lost, specifically,
especially how gross that was on a penalty of all things.
They could have let that impact them all the way
in to this point of the season and been a
losing team.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
But instead they didn't.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
They use it as a rallying cry, and I like said,
there's just many markers pointing to why I think the
Broncos are not only going to be in this game,
but have a really good shot of winning it.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
That's all.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Last year they lost that game on the block field goal,
and the question was how will they respond to that heartbreak?
And they bounced back right and went on a little
streak after that. So they've been incredibly resilient, but they
haven't been in this position yet. They're in first place.
They are the hunted right now. They're not the resilient,
upstart team who's trying to make an impression. They have
(18:52):
made an impression. They're eight and two and now they
have the team that's won the division how many straight
years and nine been to a super Bowl five out
of the last six. Having some struggles this year, but
their eyes widen when they see the Broncos on the
schedule and they see it is an opportunity to get
right and get back on the on the right track.
(19:15):
I would say that the Chiefs have more at stake
right now, there's no question about that, and so they
know they need to win this game. The Broncos don't
necessarily need to win this game. They want to prove
they can. It's important that they do for themselves in
that locker room. But eight and three, you're still right
in there right. Ohah, the Broncos are going to be.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
A playoff team out of this, like whatever happens, that
isn't in doubt.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
It's more of the AC West at stake. Yeah, and
we want a home playoff game. We want to win
the division and maybe let's get the first seed and
get a bye and then have two games right here
in Denver and then head on out west for the
super Bowl. And so there's a lot of stake here.
The Chiefs are experienced when it comes to these types
of games. The Broncos less so. And that's where you know,
(19:59):
my consternation comes from.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Consternation.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
It's good word says, looks like Dave's not there, No
Dave's not here. He's got a game tonight, so I
wish Coach Logan a lot of luck in his playoff
game tonight. He'll be back with us on Monday, and
of course you can listen to him on the broadcast
on Sunday. Our cover starts at eight am. Here, Dave's
not here. Yeah, I just think it's funny, Like we're
(20:22):
halfway through the segment and somebody's like, where's Dave.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
He's being real quiet today. Day's right here.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
We would end just shut his mic off. He's just
hanging out. Guys, Hey, Dave.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
It's just funny. Anyways, all right, we're.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Off roll here in a Friday, very happy to have
Nate Jackson, and maybe by the end of the show
we'll convince you to one go one way or the other,
hopefully in the way of the win of the good
guys here. Time will tell, time, indeed, time will tell.
All right, we'll come back. Pastor ten is going to
join us. We'll give you a chance a little later
on this hour to win a Maverick gift card.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
We'll be right back Okaya.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Highline and bring on number two dever broncos Ps two.
Pastor ten you're all with Date Jackson and right evers.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
How are you, man?
Speaker 4 (21:10):
How good? How are you doing?
Speaker 1 (21:11):
We're doing great. It's good to catch up with you.
And hey, man, it's Chiefs weeek.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
I know that you'd love to be out there, but unfortunately,
looks like you're not going to be playing for this game.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
First of all, how are you feeling.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
I'm feeling pretty good, man, you know, I mean, up
to schedule, feeling way better than what I was two
weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
I'll tell you that, you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
So I'm attacking the rehab process, taking the day by day,
but you know, I'm ready to get back out there
with the guys.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
Okay, Pat, you guys have the Chiefs coming up. I
know you want to be out there. You're not gonna
be out there. You're gonna be on the sideline supporting
your boys. But what is it that the Chiefs do,
in particular, Patrick Mahomes that makes it that makes your
job so hard?
Speaker 1 (21:51):
On defense?
Speaker 4 (21:53):
I think they have a good ability of dictating the
game on their terms. You know, obviously throughout the game.
Speaker 5 (22:02):
Uh, they have a complex, a variety for the personnel's
informations that makes.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Them tricky to stop.
Speaker 5 (22:08):
And I think that's what they've done a consistent, consistently
good job that is to keep the defense on their toes.
And uh, I feel like with us defensively, we got
to eliminate uh, their first reads, you know, I mean,
we got to make a one dimensional uh and sort
of not make a mass pass heavy you know what
I mean, as they want to be, you know, And
(22:28):
and that all starts with creative pressure, you know, I
mean coverage, coverage in the back end.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
So and you know, I think we're the best doing
it in the league.
Speaker 5 (22:36):
So but yeah, it's it's a it's a unique type
of challenge obviously, you know, divisional game, a division opponent,
a lot of states ruined. But uh, I feel like,
you know, that's what they possess offensively.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
What what did you think about the way your secondary
played the last two weeks? Again, I know you want
to be out there, but those guys I thought really
held their own I mean, especially you know last week
Rock Powers was coming in off of one of the
better performances of the season at tight end versus Jacksonville,
and they shut him down one catch for thirty one yards.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
What did you think about that.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
I mean, I think it's pretty impressive, honestly to eliminate
a type of player of his caliber like to that
type of game.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
So, you know what I mean, I think these.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
Guys are always ready for the challenge, you know, ready
for the task, you know what I mean. I believe
in all of the guys in that room, you know
what I mean, because they're showing a weekend.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
And week out and you know they work art.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
You know, they prepare the right way throughout the week,
and also you know when their name is called, you
know they be ready.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
So it's honestly awesome to see.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
From my lenses nowadays since I'm not out there, but
you know, watching it and you know, in full action
on the sideline, you know, it's pretty awesome to see.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Patrick mahomes one of the best out there to do it,
not just from the pocket on time, but when the
play breaks down, he can make some special things happen
outside the pocket off script. How do you guys as
a defense plan to handle that the out of the
pocket off script stuff? What are you kind of taught
to take away his options there?
Speaker 5 (24:16):
I think the biggest thing is, you know, I mean,
he lives, you know, off of second play chances, you know,
when his first read not.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
There second lead.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
You know, he has a great ability of, you know,
making things work out of nothing. And I think the
thing that we have to do well consistently in this
game is, you know, I mean, not get lack lusty
and coverage, you know what I mean, because that's what
he thrives off of, especially when you make those off schedule.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
Reads and throws and make those big time players out
the field.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
So it's important that us in the back end we
plaster onto receivers in our zones, you know what I mean.
We just don't drop in his zone. We look and
try to find a man why he scrambles.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
And eliminate that. So and I know, I know we
all know that's what we need.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
To do to eliminate that. So you know, I feel
like we're well prepared for it.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Pastor Jan joining us here, I want to ask you
about Alex Singleton, and he of course informed the team
this week about his testicular cancer diagnosis. First of all,
playing an entire game with that looming over him last Thursday,
I mean, what a warrior. And then the second thing,
and just more of your thoughts on how the defense
is going to be able to work without him out there.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
Yeah. Man, you know, Alex is a warrior man. You know,
he fights every play till last minute.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
But also you know in life too, you know what
I mean, you never know what somebody's really gone through.
And that's a testament to him, you know, I mean,
to be as strong as he is currently. You know
what I mean, he's you know, holding his head up high,
you know what I mean, in positive thought, walking around
with a positive smile. So you know that's a testament
to him and his character.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
But also.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
You know, it is very very inspirational to see a
guy like that battle you know, I mean this type
of condition and also go out there and still want
to be out there with the guys.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
And you know, I mean, it's gonna be a huge loss.
You know.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
Obviously he's our green dot, you know, I mean, I'll
either on the team, but like I said, uh, we
got to find a way to add that next man
up mentality and you know, play ball for him.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
So I want to ask you a question about quarterback
play in general, and when quarterbacks start to scramble and
get up the field. I mean, we saw it with
C j Stroud a couple of weeks ago, gave himself
up too late, gets hit his head, bounces off the turf,
no flag. Uh, you know, I think it was the
right call. You can't pull off at the last minute
like that. But then you got guys like you know,
Pat Mahomes who are able to, sometimes it feels like,
(26:46):
manipulate the referees or manipulate the rules around him to
to to prevent.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
You guys from hitting him.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
How do you guys approach Patrick Mahomes when he's running
the football past the line of scrimmage? Do you try
to just hit him like any other runner, or do
you back off him or what's your approach there?
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (27:06):
No, you're supposed to hit him.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
Yeah, I mean that's what you're supposed to do.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
But like I said, I think sometimes the cause can
be inconsistent. You know, when you got plays like that,
I think it's pretty bad because defenders get hesitant, and
when you're hesitanting, you play slower, you know, in the game,
and you don't want that to happen.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
So I think certain guys know how to you know
how to get beyond the.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
Rule book and know how to work things in their favorite,
and I think he does a pretty good job at
doing that.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
So but I also think that, you know what I mean,
you don't let up on a guy like that. You
know what I mean, we all got our pads on.
We're supposed to god, they hit the next man.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
So now I don't feel like we should spare anybody
at all, no matter who you are. But you know,
I mean, that's what you know he signed up for.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
So last one I have for you, Pat really appreciate
the time, and I just want to ask about because
we were just discussing this ability your team has to
come back and win games, and you guys are six
and two on one score games, and I mean remarkably
the Chiefs were actually zing four this season, but they
were very good on it last year. But but what
is it about a team that really has that ability
(28:19):
to continue to find a way to hang in there,
and even in these last two weeks without without you
arguably one of the best defensive players out there, without
several key starters, now without JK. Dobbins or Alex Singleton,
there's still probably a belief within that building that they
can come back and win any game.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Would you agree, Yeah, I totally agree. I feel like
the testament of a team and character is what does
a team through what does a team do through adversity?
Speaker 4 (28:47):
And I think.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
If you look at our team and look at our season,
we've been through a lot of adversity. In a couple
of games. I mean the Giants game, we is down
like two three possessions, find a way to come back
and win the game. At the end Eagles game, we
was down, we found a way to come back and win.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
I just think it shows our resilience and our will
to compete, you know what I mean, because the game's
never never over to that final whistleblows. And I mean
that's how mindset and into any game, you know. I mean,
because we in the NFL. Of course they gonna make
their plays, of course they're gonna have mommum swings. But
it's all about finishing. And it's all about knowing that
(29:29):
when we in a deficit or knowing when to fight,
you know, and finish games. And I think that's what
separates us from a lot of teams.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Well said the Children's Hospital color a kid caster is
presented by your colorade of you at GMC dealers. Visit
your local GMC dealership today and experience the full Sierra
family lineup.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
This week's kid Caster question is from Kai.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
My question for you.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Is growing up with the father who played in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
What's one lesson taught you that still guides how you
approach the game today.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
Great question.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Oh that's a good question, my guy.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
Yeah, so you know, I had the unin privileged to
have that. You know, that's a footbay at the high level.
But one of the things that resonate with me the
most is to stay diligent in your craft. Never get
too high, you know what I mean, never get too low,
you know, staying between your emotions and uh you know,
(30:23):
always chase.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Your dreams, you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
Perfect that perfect your craft and.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
The rest of history. So that's something that resonates with
me and that'll stick with me forever.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
I think Ki's coming from my job here, Pat, I'm
a little worried. That was amazing.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
That was a great question for sure, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
No doubt.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
All right, man, rest up by week coming up. Hopefully
we get to see you out there on the field
here very soon. Thank you so much for the time.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Thanks I appreciate it, Passer Tan joining us there. We'll
react to that coming up next week. And you can
put kay Sports on there and just click on that
button and you can to us anytime. So there go,
Pats or Tan. Really good stuff. We're talking about during
the break. And by the way, we're gonna have Maverick
a Maverick gift card for you you to win here
at a matter of moments, so stick around for that.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
But we're talking about during the break.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
How can guys like Patzer Tan, Alex Singleton, JK. Dobbins,
I mean, even Nate Adkins, I guess to a certain extent,
how can these guys help in this game without playing?
Speaker 3 (31:26):
They can be an extra set of eyes for the
guys on the field, you know.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
And so when Patser Tan or JK.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Dobbins, when they get ready to actually play in a
real game and they go out there, they're focused on
their job.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
They're not looking at anyone else's job.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
They're so singularly focused, they only have time. They're inside
of their head fight or flight adrenaline. It's all happening,
and so you're not standing on the sideline perceiving the
game in ways that you're thinking of ways to help
out your friends. When you're not playing and you're in sweats,
you get to kind of put your analytical skills into action.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
You see things that you otherwise wouldn't have. You see
things happening.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
You also see your friends who are out there maybe
going through something. You're able to go put an arm
around them, calm them down. If they're going through something
that they get down on themselves.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
They make a.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Mistake, you know, because coaches cannot be relied on for
that sort of thing on game day. Coaches kind of
freak out on game day. They're not calm because they
can't control anything. Practices for the coaches, they control it.
They're in the huddle. They're telling you what to do
every play. After every play, they can stop it, bring
you over, tell you what you did wrong. You can't
do that in a game. It's happening too fast, and
(32:31):
so coaches lose their minds on game day. They cannot
be relied upon for just like a buddy, a word
of wisdom, someone who can bring.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
You down, calm you down.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
I mean there's some who do, but a player who's
your buddy, he's in there in the locker room with you.
He can see things you don't see. He can put
an arm around you and calm you down, and so
you know, I had that role sometimes. My first year
is a tight end. I was inactive most of the games,
probably all but four or five of them, and so
that man, I practiced all week, and then come game time,
(33:04):
I was one of the eight guys who didn't suit up,
so I'd be down there on the sideline with my buddies.
I knew the game plan, I knew the film we've
been watching.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
I've been you know.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
I was able to see things that they couldn't and
understand what we're trying to get done, and just you know,
be that kind of sounding board for him as well.
So I think those guys, their experience, their familiar familiarity
with a game plan, their relationship with those guys are
gonna be really valuable on the sideline.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
I could agree more, and I would say, without knowing specifically,
what passer Tan has said to the guys in the secondary,
and part of the reason they've been playing well is
that he's a resource.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
Would you agree with that?
Speaker 4 (33:38):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Yeah, absolutely, I mean I think it not take away
from their performance.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
I mean, it's all hands on deck approach, and it's
every little thing that you can get, every little thing
you can see.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
And you know, I mean imagine, you.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
Know, Pat pulls a guy off on the sideline.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Before he goes back and says, hey, watch for this thing.
They're doing this thing. They're trying to.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Set up this thing, and he goes out there and
he sees it and he stops him from doing the
thing right, you know, and then the coach and tell
him that because the coach has too much stuff going on.
And so it's a player who sees this and a
lot of the technique that guys will do when they're
trying to set up a move or you know, something
like that. Coaches don't see that during a game, but
Pat will. He's the best in the world at what
he does, right, so he's going to see all those
little things that receivers are doing that might be setting
(34:17):
something else up or a tell for the kind of
route they're running. Again, the coaches don't see that in
the heat of the moment. They're not watching that stuff.
They're looking at a big picture and trying to figure out,
you know, what the next play is and what the
personnel group is and that kind of thing. So having
a guy as intelligent as Pat and JK and Alex Singleton,
all very experienced veterans, are going to be a boon
for this team, all.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
