Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sure four o'clock here in the Myley City, Ryan Edwards
Nate Jackson with you. Five six, six nine zero is
our KWA Commas Barry Hill text line. We'll have another
Maverick gift card to give away in this hour and
another one in the five o'clock hour. Once again, we
have Broncos Packers tickets to give away. After five point
thirty with our Coach's Corner segment, which we very very
much love, we're gonna check in with a good friend

(00:20):
of mine, Josh Klingler, coming up here four thirty.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
He's the sideline for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Get his thoughts on why the Chiefs feel so brazen
about this game coming up.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
But we got some tough news moments to go on.
Christian Brown.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
He is going to be well, according to sham Sharania,
reevaluated in six weeks after sustaining a left ankle sprain.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
So this isn't a will.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Be out six weeks, it's we're going to reevaluate his
situation here in six weeks. That's a tough blow. You
like your death, but still he's a key cog in
what you're doing, and.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
That's a long time for an ankle, you know, and
so it's a pretty significant angle injury. Maybe they're giving
him that number six weeks to just kind of say, hey, man,
just take it easy. We're not going to push you
to get up back on the court. Nuggets are playing
really well anyway. It's not like he's been dominating Christian Brown,
and so I think that it's nice, it's smart not

(01:20):
to push him back out there. But it must have
been a high ankle, must have been an inside ankle sprain,
must have been some significant ligament damage in there. And
sometimes at least the old adage is it's sometimes better
to break your ankle than.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
To have a really bad sprain.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
And so these basketball players, there's just so much pro
preoception involved in the reaction back and forth, side to side.
You need strong ankles and so, and we're going to
need Christian Brown down the.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Stretch and so rest up. Man.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, I mean, it doesn't derail I think the season, right,
and if you're going to have an injury like this,
you'd rather have it be early than lace. But it's
sort of tough because you're still waiting for Cam Johnson,
by the way, also got an injury in this game.
So I don't know what's going on with him yet.
I don't think we've seen anything on Cam Johnson just yet.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
But you want to know.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
You want to get him back, you want to get
him playing at a much higher level. This team has
been carried by Jokic obviously as he continues to be
just otherworldly. Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray, and then your
depth off the bench has been really good. You've had
some some really nice moments from several of them. I
really love the fact that Valenceiuniz is here because it
gives Yokic a break, You have a breather. He's playing

(02:33):
around thirty four to thirty five minutes per game instead
of forty every single night. Love that that's going to
be a massive boon for this team down the stretch
and into the postseason. But you know, you can sustain
so much because the West is what it is. That's
more what I'm thinking about. It's like, yeah, you're a
playoff team. You're probably still in the conversation of the

(02:53):
top four. Even if you lose Christian Brown here for
six weeks and maybe even lose Cam Johnson for some time,
You're still going to be a top four team, but
the West is just this unbelievable Gautlet. I mean, you've
got teams on the outside looking in right now that
will not be on the outside looking in for very long.
And if there's as we mentioned in our first hour,
there's chum in the water, you could be some chum

(03:15):
there for a little while against some of these matchups.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah, I think the Nuggets know how to make it work.
I think their depth is is pretty impressive. They've clearly
gone to great lengths to improve that depth. They've got
some players a deeper bench playing really well. I think
they're going to pick up the slack and Christian Brown
can can bide his time with his ankle.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
That's what you hope for.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
But that's why you bring back, you know, Bruce Brown,
That's why you have again we mentioned Valanchunis. I mean,
you've got you've got you've got some some good quality
depth and guys that are there playing. I'm interested to
see what they do there with Christian Brown. I imagine
to be Bruce Brown, but you really do like his
role coming off the bench too, So that one, I'm
not a little.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Sure Strawth are out there a little more.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
I mean, I love Julian Strauther like he's just too
he's kind of streaky, right, I mean Tim Hardaway, I
guess would also make some sense to be a guy
that could fill in at the two for a little
while for you. I don't know, do you have a
thoughts on who you would who you's slate in there.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I mean, I'm not sure. I think it'd be a
rotational thing.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
I don't Okay, yeah, I mean I think he's a
Christian Brown is a unique player. He's worked on his jumper,
he's worked on his scorn ability, but he's just a
really great defender, and so you need someone who can
match his defensive prowess or at least be comparable out there.
So you know, Peyton Watson is a really good defender.
I imagine it'll be kind of a committee, you know, filling

(04:38):
in by committee, Julius strathor Peyton Watson, Bruce Brown.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
They'll have a rotation with those guys.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Okay, all right, So that's the latest with Christian Brown.
Gonna be real reevaluated in six weeks, not back in
six weeks. Reevaluated in six weeks. Until your point, when
you have those kinds of ankle sprains. Sometimes it is
better just to break it versus have a bad sprain.
So all right, five six six Nimes zeros King with
Comma Spirit Health text line this from Robin Brush, Ryan
and Nate.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
I believe in Bonix in the Bronco's office.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I just don't believe in Sean Payton's what's your take
on that? I mean last Thursday, you and I were
on Friday, but breaking down the game, despite of being
a win, kind of felt pretty gross, right, nine three
and outs. And I know you and Jake, by the way,
do a fantastic job on Gorilla breaking down things with
the offense. Well, what's your takeaway on Sean Payton Boenix's role.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
In some of the struggles with the offense. Yeah, it's
it's not good that relationship.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Something's off about their working relationship right now. There's clearly
some tension there. You know, you hear the national some
national media that are kind of close to Sean Payton
all of a sudden echoings, not echoing, but kind of
singing the same song about how Bow's regressing and he's
not seeing the field and this and that and where
did they hear that?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
You know, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
I mean, I don't want to be a conspiracy theory guy,
but it feels weird that all of them at the
same time.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Right, So obviously there's frustrations in the building with the offense.
Sean Payton is the head coach. He's also the architect
of the offense. His frustrations are probably boiling over and
making it a difficult place to learn and have fun,
I mean, and play football. Because Bonis was at the
podium a couple of days ago saying, hey man, we're

(06:19):
just trying to have fun and play the game, you know.
And he may have been talking or he may have
been asked a question about criticism that fans give him
or social media or whatever internet kind of criticism, but
he might also been talking to his head coach, like,
hey man, we're trying to have fun. This is supposed
to be fun. We're eight and two. Let's not take
the joy out of this thing. I've been on teams

(06:41):
and you know, Mike Shanahan was a perfection. It's similar
to Sean Payton in the way that he demanded a
certain look to the offense and wasn't necessarily happy when
the offense didn't perform.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Well, but we still won.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
And so we always had to push against that sort
of tendency for coaches to make it a bummer around there,
even when you're winning, because they're all kind of cut
from the same cloth.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
They wanted to look a certain way making a bummer.
I just like the way you framed that, Well, why
is he got to be a bummer? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Seven game wins? Yeah, why to be a bummer around?
Why are we?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Like?

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Why are we sat?

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Right?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
And Bo's a young quarterback.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
He's not an eight nine year veteran who can really
embody that message and stand up in front of the
guys and be like, hey, forget about what the coaches
are saying. We're on a seven game win streak. Let's
have fun. We're not gonna let them bring us down, guys,
you know. And I think that he's still coming into
that leadership role where he might not feel, you know,
ultra comfortable delivering that message and might be at odds

(07:39):
a little bit with his play caller and head coach
who is very, very demanding and probably isn't easy to
work with and is not calling a game to suit
Bo's strengths. And Bo has talked you know, in veiled
ways about the things he likes to do that aren't
being done, you know, pace of play.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
And so I think that there are at odds a
little bit.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
I think Sean Payton's kind of calling plays for a
quarterback that he doesn't have on his team right now.
He's calling plays for Drew Brees, and uh, it's hard
to teach an old dog Nutricks. He's had a ton
of success in this league, but Bo's a different player,
and I think you got to cater your system to
what he's doing well, but not just both the rest
of the team your offensive line. To me, you got

(08:24):
to take the way you take care of the offensive
line is you let him attack. He let him run
the ball. That's what they like to do. They get
to be the bully. They're not catching the defensive line.
They're attacking. They get to they get to lash out
and use their strength and athleticism.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
And you pay him a ton of money to do that.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
And I think both probably frustrated with that as well,
with the complexity of some of the stuff for the
screen game and the and it kind of the the
attention to detail that like once once the game comes around,
you got to make the plays that are there, and
you just got to you gotta play ball. And again
it's the play, the play versus the player. I think

(09:00):
Sean Payton cares more about the play than he does
about the player.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
It's got the indictment.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Well, I'm just judging him by his own words, sure,
you know, and the way he talks about the sport.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
I mean, that's your perspective as a former player, especially
an offensive players is interesting here. Yeah, And that's like
if you were a player on this team, is that
a similar sentiment you'd feel, whether you I mean, you know,
you're not inside the building, but like just the way
things have looked when you're watching it on film, you're
just kind of like, it feels like we're running a
scheme more so than we're running the players.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Yeah, the players don't look comfortable.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Yeah, they don't look like they feel comfortable in the
system and know what they're doing. They're not on the
same page, whether it's bon not on the same page
with the receivers or this or that. There seems to
be you know, he's not sure whether they're going to
be what the read might be.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
There's a lot of RPOs.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
There's a lot of this might happen, or this might happen,
or this might happen, instead of this.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Is the play.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
We're gonna run, go run it, make the best of it,
don't check out of it.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
There's no altern here. I'm gonna call this play. They'll
kick their button. And it's it's the vibe I think
with the fan base a little bit right now. Not everybody. Well,
the text line seems pretty positive.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Everybody's texting in, but the reasons why they think the
Broncs are gonna win this game, which is pretty cool.
But the national vibe on this team is it is
a bad one. Yeah, I mean the vibes. Maybe I
say that a little too much. Apparently I say, yeah,
I mean the es vibes. Why do I sound like that?

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Don't really sound like that. Gret Grant actually has worse
audio of me.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
So I don't even want to push Yeah yesterday, God, no,
don't play that.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
What did you say?

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (10:44):
I We had to Evan ingram On and I looked
right at Dave, and you know, I usually say hey,
you're on with.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Dave Logan, all right?

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Edwards and Benjamin Wright, and I said Ryan Edwards benjamaonb
Bright and Ryan Edwards for some You're game reason And
I looked right at him when I said it, and
then he's like, wait what.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
I was like, Oh my god, such an idiot that it's
not that bad.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
You don't make a lot of mistakes. If that's the
one you're stewing over, that's really is.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, I think you.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Just stew over it in general because we put a
lot of prep.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Into what we do and something like that being the
thing the Drells. But it's it's what it is.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
I can move on five six, six, eight zeros or
Kay Commons bird health text line. So one positive, I
guess in the the game coming up, I mean, the
Broncos obviously are missing some key players, but Isaiah Pacheco
is not going to play for the Kansas City Chiefs,
so be Kareem Hunt Brishard Smith. They're going to be
the two running backs. Kareem Hunt's kind of a plotter.

(11:46):
He's had an unbelievable career really, I mean, considering all
the stuff, especially the off field stuff. At one point
you didn't even know if he's going to play again. Yeah,
he's still stuck around. He's still playing He's very physical
back as you know, and he has pretty decent hands
out of the back field.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
They're gonna use him on some goal line stuff.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
They'll use him for short yardage, but they're not He's
not like a game breaker, like, that's not what he's
gonna do for Shard Smith's got some speed, but they
barely use him. So when it comes to that matchup
before we get to Josh Kleaner here at the bottom
of the hour, what do you think about the matchup
against the run game for the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
I think it looks good, you know, I think the Broncos,
I'm not overly concerned with their running game.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Now.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
The Chiefs understand that you've got to set up the
pass through the run, and the run becomes a very
important part of your game. And if the Broncos focused
too much on the pass, they will gash you with
a run. But I think this front seven of the
Broncos is playing at a very high level. Isaiah Pachenko
not playing helps a lot. I agree with your assessment
of Kareem Hunt kind of a plotter. You know, he's
not gonna he's not gonna set the world on fire.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
He's a thirty year old back too. Not a lot
of those in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
But but this is a balanced attack. They're going to
run to set up the pass pass to set up
the run. The play action pass is going to be
really effective for them. They're going to sell it well.
They're very disciplined, and so it's not so much about
the guy that it is about the unit, you know
that really moves well together and does their job. And
so in that regard, you got to, you know, dot

(13:09):
all your eyes and cross all your t's, or as
I like to say, dot all your j's and cross
all your x'es.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
What if how long you've been saying that? Just this
one's okay?

Speaker 1 (13:20):
That's perfect Calm Broncos and Chiefs Are coverage, of course,
starts at eight o'clock on Sunday morning as we head
out to the KWA Comma Spirit Health Highline and bring
on a good friend of mine, Josh Klingler, who does
a fantastic job as a sideline reporter for the Chiefs
Radio network.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Josh, you're on with Nate Jackson and Ryan Edwards. How
are you, man? I'm good.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
How are you guys? This is a big one. You know,
we haven't seen maybe the Chiefs be in this position
or Denver in this position. Right, Yeah, we're there. Obviously
you're having a great season and the Chiefs are trying
to kind of dig themselves out of a hole here
at the midpoint.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Yeah, you know, you're absolutely right. It's unique for a
multitude of reasons. The Chiefs seemingly playing for an opportunity
to win the division. I mean, if they lose this game,
then maybe takes them out of that. And meanwhile the
Broncos are kind of trying to hold off the Chiefs. Again,
it's rare territory over the last decade. What gives you
confidence for the chief side of things, and then what

(14:17):
makes you a little pause on this matchup coming upon Sunday.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Yeah, I mean, I think this is a very talented
Chiefs team, but your records your record at some point
in time, Right, So they're five and four, and at
times they have looked like they could be the best
team in the NFL, and there's been other times where
you're like, Okay, they've been scouted pretty well and teams
have taken away all the fun stuff that they're able
to do, and I found ways to have success, namely

(14:44):
Jacksonville and Buffalo I thought did a really good job
in beating the Chiefs and kind of taking away some
of those those things they do well. And then I
guess in this matchup, it's I know, the Denver defense
is really good. I think the Chiefs offense is very good,
and I think that if the Chiefs can score enough,
I'm not sure that Denver can score enough. So I

(15:05):
don't think it's going to be a, you know, a
high scoring game by any means. But I think the
Chiefs offense has a you know, much better chance. Even
though the Broncos defense is better probably overall than the
Chiefs defense, I think the Chiefs have the better chance
of scoring points in this one, which I think maybe
gives them a tad bit of advantage. But if Denver
does what Denver you know does, which is shack the

(15:25):
quarterback and they can get some heat on Patrick Mahomes,
an offensive line that's been a little bit in flux
for the Chiefs, I think that's where Denver is going
to find success. And obviously that's been a good thing
for them. You know, that's an advantage they've had, is
getting aft to the quarterbacks. And so if they can
continue to do that this week and give Mahomes some problems,
you know, that'll be a best serve for the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
You mentioned that the Chiefs and the Broncos are in
different positions than they usually are when they face each
other over the last decade, the Chiefs are usually in
first place, Broncos trying to chase them, trying to prove
that they belong. Now the Chiefs are the ones chasing
the Broncos. Where do you think the Chiefs confidence level
is coming in to Denver and just the way they
feel about the Broncos, did the Chiefs kind of still
see themselves as the big brother and the bully in

(16:08):
the situation?

Speaker 5 (16:09):
You know, I don't think so. I think I think
Andy Reid keeps them two level headed for that, but
he's also pretty realistic with him, like you know, I
don't think Patrick Mahomes said. I think after it was
their third loss before loss number four that you know,
we've lost enough games, and he meant for the season.
So I think that they realize the position that they're

(16:30):
in right now, that you know, there are no excuses
you've lost games, and so you need to win the
division first, right that's always their goal, first and foremost,
and not put yourself in a position to be in
a wild card situation. They haven't been in this position before,
although we have seen Chiefs teams kind of go in
the reel off a bunch of wins, and it wouldn't

(16:51):
be surprising if they're able to do that again. But
this is also one that hasn't been as good at
winning games kind of in weird ways like they did
last season, you know, kind of like the Broncos are
doing this season. I think there's a lot to be
said about believing you can pull yourself out of holes
and win games, and so far this particular Chiefs team

(17:11):
hasn't done that, and we know the Broncos certainly have.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
I know, you got to run here in a sex.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
So this will move in the last one now against
the Bills, specifically the game right before the bye week, well,
that buffle of Bill's defense really got after Mahomes. I
mean he had like a forty four percent completion rate,
no touchdown, interception.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
I mean, he had some big passes in the game.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Because he's going to do that, but it seemed like
they really rattled him. Was there something in that game
specifically where it's like, Okay, this is something that they
figured out that we've got to continue to work against.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Well. I think he hasn't been as good throwing under
pressure this year as he has been now early in
the season, he probably took off running a little bit more.
As the season's gone on, he stayed in the pocket
a little bit more as he's gotten a little more
trust in the offensive line. But they were able to
get pressure on him continuously, and I think that that
was a big key always is I think against the
homes right, don't give him a lot of time and

(18:03):
try to get him off of schedule, and if he's
got time and to look around the field and pick
out targets, it's going to be a long day. So
they did that defensively, and then offensively, I think if
there's kind of a weak link at linebackers and coverage,
and Buffalo just ran their tight hits across the field
and ran a lot of crossing routes in the middle
of the field and took advantage of the Chiefs defensively there,

(18:24):
which is then kind of an achilles feel for them.
So I thought they just did a really good job
of negating some of the things or at least attacking
some of the things that look like kind of weaknesses
at times for the Chiefs. Again, we'll see about the
offensive line. Josh Simmons, their first round pick at left tackle,
was away from the team for personal reasons for about
a month. May or may not go on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
The backup Jalen.

Speaker 5 (18:46):
Moore has played okay at times. They've been banged up
at other spots along the offensive line, so they really
needed to buy week for the offensive line, I thought specifically,
and we'll see how healthy they are because we know
that that Denver defensive line is going to have a
long day at the office. If you're not ready to go,
no doubt.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Hey, always a pleasure catch up with you, my friends.
Safe travel out here to Denver, and hope you get
a chance to check in with you very soon. Sounds good, all,
I appreciate it. Josh Klinger of the one of the
best ones. Yeah, he's really really good. Does a great
job as sidelines there for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
It's fascinating.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
I mean, we did getting into why the Chiefs are brazen,
but you heard it from him there like it's it's
not a guarantee, like the way that sometimes these things
get framed, and you have like the Nick Rights of
the world out there guaranteeing a Chiefs win, and you know,
the majority of the country.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
I think.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
I think one guy on ESPN picked it a thirty
to ten kind of game, Chiefs over the Yes. Yeah,
and so he said that the one thing that is
probably the biggest question for the Broncos is can the
offense keep up?

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (19:49):
And I think he's probably right. But you know what,
we have the Dallas game. That's that's one that jumps
out to me as an example if we had the
same question coming into the week, can the offense keep up?
If Dallas is going to put au point because remember
that was the number one offense coming into the league
or into that game, and suddenly the Broncos offense was
on fire.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Now different defense.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
What about that point he made there about tight ends
versus their linebackers, Because he's absolutely right. The Buffalo Bills
really went after him with Don kincaid. He had over
one hundred yards receiving in that game. In fact, I
had that up here the other day. But yeah, he
had six sketches for one hundred and one yards Dawson
Knox had won for thirty in that game that they
really went after their linebackers.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
What do you think about that matchup?

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Yeah, the Broncos have a tight end problem on this team, and.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
To me, it's the way you know it's constructed.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
So you really have the opportunity to take advantage of
teams on defense when you put two tight ends on
the field. You put two tight ends, two receivers, one
running back. They go small out there, you run the ball,
they go big. You pass the ball, and then the
play action pass opens up. If you got two tight
ends who can block and receive the ball, then that
opens up your playbook and you can leave those guys

(21:02):
on the field and you can really gash a team
like the Chiefs who don't cover tight ends well. But
what the Broncos do is they have specific tight ends
for specific plays. Evan Ingram is the joker. He's never
down next to a tackle with his hand in the
dirt being a point of attack blocker on a run.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
He just isn't.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
They don't use him that way. So if Evan Ingram
is on the field, you kind of know the run's
not going to him.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
It's going away.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Adam Troutman, who is the run blocking tight end, has
been struggling in that department as well, and he's not
necessarily the most dynamic pass catcher either. That's why they
went and signed Mercedes Lewis right, Nate Atkins is a
guy that he's a jack of all trades guy. They
really like his ability as a blocker, as a pass catcher.
He's probably the most kind of versatile of the tight ends,

(21:44):
at least can do the most. And he's injured, and
so I think this presents a little bit of a
problem for the Broncos to be actually be able to
exploit the middle of the field the same way the
Bills did, and it kind of shows, I think a
little bit of a hole in the roster or the
thinking about how to construct the tight end room. To me,
the more effective way is to get guys who do

(22:04):
both well, not just the guy who does one well,
because when he comes on the field, you know what
he's doing and what he's not doing, and and so
I think that's a little bit of a limitation. Now
I'm not saying that Evan Ingram can't block, they just
don't ask him to, and so he doesn't become a
believable decoy when he runs a play action pass, and
so I would really be happy to see a lot

(22:25):
of two tight end stuff. But I think they'll continue
to do a lot of three wide receiver stuff and
they'll have l. J. Humphrey out there being like the
big bodied receiver who's going to do that sort of
blocking stuff. But still so I think l J. Humphrey
coming back is good for this offense.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
I do.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
I do too, you know, I mean, if the Von
Valley came back, it'd be really clicking. Come on, come on, well,
I mean similar players, similar players, and you know, had
a positive effect on the offense.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
What we're seeing now is that, like.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
The screen game that these guys do a lot requires
the other skill position players to be blocking well. When
they don't, the play gets blown up. You know, Adam
Troutman got blown up.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
On a just that once. To you know, it is
what it is.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
I mean, sometimes you miss blocks, But like you know,
they want more physical guys out there like l J.
Humphrey to be point of attack blockers, to free the
guys with a ball in their hands because they do
so much dinky donkey behind the line of screamage screen
stuff that requires these other guys in space to block
and so and so. To me, that's why I'm not
in favor of a lot of that stuff because there's
too many variables there. Let these guys run down the

(23:30):
field and run routes in the secondary and throw the
ball there on time from under center.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Because we talked about this, Yeah, understonder would be great.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
The four minute drive they had to seal the game
against the Raiders ten plays, zero shotgun plays, and it
was their best drive of the game. Co under center, man.
It allows the running game to get cooking, go more downhill,
The timing of the passes.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Are better, your play action works better, early action it all,
and it's it's simpler. But that's what we've been doing
since we were kids.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
And a lot of these young quarterbacks are just standing
in the packing shotgun so much that they just get
used to it. But the timing gets off, and then
you got all the reason and the RPO and you're
reading there's just too much. That's why I'm saying, call
a play, put me under center, Let's run that play,
and let's see how that goes.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
I like it a lot yeah, and I seeing the
Bills take advantage of the Chiefs linebackers, I'm kind of
wondering again maybe this can be a big Evan Ingram game.
I'm really am excited about having Marvin Mims back. In
the last two weeks, not having him out there low
key might have been one of the biggest misses well
this team has had. Yeah, so we're gonna focus on JK. Dobbins,

(24:40):
We're going to focus on Patzertan and Alex Singleton and
Date Atkins and then that those are all tough losses,
but Marvin Mims helps with the spacing a lot. You know,
I was watching and I talked about this yesterday with Ben.
I was watching kloshak here for the Buffalo Bills, and
sort of the way they used him was a lot
of the ways that the Broncos like to use Marvin Mims.
You know, You've got some of the pick screen stuff,

(25:00):
you got to the shallow crossers, you gotta in some
deep shots once in a while. But there's a lot
of just ways that he can with his quickness and
straight line speed, really threaten a defense and keep them
honest if you will, right. And that's even the horizontal
as well as the vertical. So I'm looking forward to
seeing how they can kind of utilize his skills set

(25:21):
as well to get the Chiefs going sideline to sideline
at times.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Yeah, the crossing stuff is very effective. You have to
be on the same page with your quarterback. The rhythm
and the timing is very important. You know, there's a
lot of as you're a receiver running through space, running
through the middle of the field. If you do a
shallow cross, you don't just run across the field and
expect the ball. You have to be reading manner zone
and if it' zone, you're sitting down in a certain

(25:46):
area and your quarterback has to know where that area
is going to be and he's seeing what you're seeing.
There's just a lot of symbiosis that's required there.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
And I'm not saying they won't have it.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
I'm saying that seems to it to be the missing
ingredient in some of these passing games struggles that Broncos
have had, not the plays themselves, but the rhythm and
the and the sort of being on the same page,
you know, guys, being where both thinks they're going to be,
and being and both knowing they're going to be there,
and so he doesn't have to look at him, you know,
he's he's able to move the defense with his eyes

(26:16):
and with his head and then snap and turn and
throw the ball to a space he knows his player
is going to sit in. I think that comes with
repetition in time. But the multitude of sets and personnel
groups and changes and things that they're doing hamstrings that
progress and makes it a little bit more difficult, in
my opinion, to get into rhythm.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
We want to pick some games, Yes, all right, we
will come back to the Broncos here at the top
of the hour again an opportunity for you to win
a fift deal Maverick gift card coming up here in
about seven minutes. We start with the Buffalo Bills hosting
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And speaking of Don Kincaid will
not play this week. That's what it sounded like when
he did.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
The Chiefs are showing blis. Here's the stat and it
is the blitz. Alent back to the path looking out
the right.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Sideline for get day kik late and he walks into
the end zone for a twenty three yard touchdown reception.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Well, how's that for an opening act.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
That's so good stuff there, Chris Brown, and that is
wgr Sports for you.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
Five fifty in Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Grand Smith can enjoy us here, though Bill's grants are
favored by five and a half. We got two six
and three teams going out of today. This this slate's
the week eleven. It's phenomenal. So let's start with this game.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
What do you think?

Speaker 6 (27:29):
I like the Bucks to win straight up and Buffalo, Jimmy,
I'm back on the Baker Mayfield train. We're gonna won
last week against the Patriots. I like him to rebound
and pull the Patriots lead to what three.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Games over the Bills. Yeah, they lose this. I like
the Bucks. Okay, how about you? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:49):
I think the Bills are going to bounce back to
their from their embarrassing loss in Miami, in which Mike
McDaniel drove by the Bill's bar afterwards and flexed out
about the windows.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
Maybe maybe not, he says.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Ai Israel, But I think the Bills are gonna bounce
back and handle the Tampa Bay Bucks.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
I'm we're all rooting for the Buccaneers here, but I
like the Bills at home and a bounce back and
again both teams lost last week. So as you pointed out,
the Buccaneers losing to New England, the Bills losing to Miami.
So I'm fascinated to see you specifically for this game.
How they rebound. The Minnesota Vikings hosting the Bears in
the NFC North matchup.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
I'm on Michigan wolver Range. Jj mccarthew takes this now,
short drop runs top to the right. What's he gonna do?

Speaker 3 (28:31):
He's gonna run?

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Ken fine Amazon to Jj McCarthy.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Paul Allen k f A n Minnesota Vikings radio network
on the call down.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Minnesota favored by two and a half.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
Here the Bears coming off nice for run here there's
six and three on the season in Minnesota, Vikings. They
really need this game, like desperately need this game. What
do you think here, Nate.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
This this is a tough one for me to call.
I think that, Yeah, I'm gonna go with Chicago and
the game. I think they got some good mojo going.
Kayleb Williams is playing at a pretty high level. Both
of these young quarterbacks drafted last year. JJ McCarthy dealing
with some sort of laceration on his hand, or something
like that.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
Yeah, he got cleared, he's off the injury report, but
that was the thing that was hampering him early in
the week.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Yeah, I got Chicago winning this game. Okay, what about you? Grants.

Speaker 6 (29:19):
I'm with Nate on this, but I don't think JJ
McCarthy's alter ego is going to be enough in Minnesota
this weekend. Give me the Bears to move to seven
and three.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
Here's some comments from Justin Jefferson where he wants to
kind of get back to what he was as a
dominant player, and it's been difficult. So I wonder if
they're going to feed him, and I think that might
be the difference. I'm gonna get the Vikings in this
one to bounce back. That Bears defense has been susceptible,
if you will, So give me JJ McCarthy and the
Vikings to find a way to get a win. We
go to the Pittsburgh Steelers and it must win game

(29:47):
for them versus Cincinnati Bengals. Rogers under center gets a snap,
We'll pitch the Warren to the left.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Warren has some.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Room and Warren races into the end zone for the
Pittsburgh Steelers touchdown.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
King one two five WDVE and the Steelers Audio network
Gran I'm gonna go to you first here.

Speaker 6 (30:05):
Well, I'm disappointed in you. No Dave Lapham on the call?

Speaker 1 (30:08):
Well, I always go with the whatever the betting line
favorite is. I wanted to go Dave Blapham, But right
now the Steelers are favored. I don't think they should be,
but they are. What do you think about this game?

Speaker 2 (30:18):
Though? I would like to say that the Bengals.

Speaker 6 (30:21):
Are going to get a little Joe Burrow boost with
him back at practice this week, but uh, I think
the line is correct. I think the Steelers win this game.
I watched the Enigma documentary this weekend. Finally, Yeah, I'm
all in on Aaron Rodgers and the Ayahuasca. Give me
the Steelers to win.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Ayahuasca, as they would say, all right, what do you think?
I actually see an upset here.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
I think I think the Bengals are going home because
little do you guys know that Ayahuaska drops your testosterone
to really low levels.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
I think that.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Aaron Rodgers is kind of fading right now, and I
think the Steelers are gonna fade with him.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Uh give me the Bengals. Is that why he can't
grow facial hair.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
You know, no one's ever met his wife, not even
his teammates. Well, we're like, when are you gonna introduce it?
He's like, don't worry about it, man, it's it's private.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
You want to talk about the vibes being bad. I mean,
they scored three points in primetime the other night.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
And your quarterback won't introduce any anybody to his wife.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
It's very weird.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
Yeah, hyahuasca, thank you, tave I got the Bengals as well.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Let's go Bengals. Stuff out those stupid Steelers. They're gonna
be done anyways. It's gonna be the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
But by the way, if the Bengels win this thing
and Joe Burr comes back at the end of the month,
please can get kind of interesting the same.

Speaker 6 (31:36):
I'm glad you guys are still believing when the resident
Bengals fan has.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
Lost off, I am still believing. I am still believing.
And Joe Burr ahead of schedule could be interesting. The
Chargers all the road, taking on the Jacks Herbert.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
They rushed for standing tall to the end Zoll looking for.

Speaker 7 (31:51):
Que cat what a grab que touchdown Chargers twenty yards
Herberts to Shohnston per q.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
As mad Money Smith k IF I am six point
forty on the call. Charges are two and a half
point favorites Nate on the road versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Who has been kind of ugly.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
They lost a really ugly one last week when they
had a was a twenty nine to ten league, go
into the fourth quarter and lost to the Texans.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
So they need this one badly. They need it, and
they're not gonna get it.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
I see the Jacksonville Jaguars suffering from similar you know,
low t things as the Pittsburgh Steelers are. You know,
they start hot and then they start to fade. The
league catches up with them. Nobody's gonna care at at
the end of it, what your September record was.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I think the Chargers are playing some pretty darn good football.
They're gonna get that win. Grant is que.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
As we heard on that call, as he played this weekend.
He got a full practice and he's questionable. Well that's
not gonna matter.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Dude. Give me the jackson bounce back, baby, that would
be big.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
It's a weird deal, right because Jacksonville think is the
seventh seed right now.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
I really just want the Chargers so do this.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
But the Chargers losing, I think still is good news
for the Broncos. Yeah, so well, I guess we go
root for that. But rooting definitely, rooting definitely. All right,
I got the Chargers in this one, but I like
your optimism, grand I'm gonna roll with that. The Rams Seahawks,
My goodness, this is gonna be must watch TV. But
unfortunately we won't be watching it because we have the
Broncos and Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Bots seven and two versus seven and two. Rams are favors.

Speaker 4 (33:24):
Map your way from the center, play fix rolls, tom.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Is right, Stafford into daylight, hits the sideline.

Speaker 7 (33:30):
Click to the back, HiT's caught for a touchdown.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Davis Allen open late and that's career touchdown pass number
four hundred for Matthew Stafford four hundred JB Long seven
to ten ESPN Los Angeles. Rams are favored by three
and a half in this game, And honestly, I don't
even know where to go with my rooting interest because
they're so good. Both these teams are so unbelievably good.

(33:56):
Both teams could win a championship this year.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
I'll start with you, Nate, what do you think I
watched the Rams dismantled the Niners last week. You know,
I know the Niners are are short manned and have
a lot of injuries. But the Rams offense is just
playing really with a lot of poise and purpose, and
their play action pass is really good. Their intermediate passing
game Matt Stafford playing better than any quarterback in the
league right now.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Give me the Rams to win and to cover. Okay, grants.

Speaker 6 (34:22):
I was skewed also by my viewing habits last week
and man with pooka back and the relationship found between
DeVante and Matt while Puco is out.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
I love the Rams.

Speaker 6 (34:32):
I think they're the best team in the NFC and
maybe the NFL.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Right now. Seahawks are four and all on the road.

Speaker 6 (34:37):
Seahawks are great. I think these are the top two
teams in the NFCL. But Rams at home, I think
they win this game.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
I like the Rams too, but boy, that Seahawks team
is humming right now.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Jackson's fit the jigbub My.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Goodness, He's already got one thousand yards receiving.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Great for my fantasy team.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
See nice good pick up there A thousand yards one
thousan forty one five touchdowns of the season. We get
to SUNDA Night Football final game here, and uh yeah,
I like the Lions. Let's listen to them here.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
Got the touchdown Lions four.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
Yards, Sir Mayor.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Kids putting together with a day.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Dan Miller loves Brown Detroit Lions Radio Network, And yeah,
Jamiir Gibbs already almost seven hundred rushing yards eight touchdowns.
They are underdogs, though, Grant on the road versus the
Philadelphia Eagles, this should be a fun game.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (35:29):
I can't wait for this game when we will get
to watch after the Broncos game. Other than you joined
Broncos react for twenty four hours three. I like the
Eagles in this game, even with all the outside noise.
I think the Lions know they need this game. But
I still think the Eagles are going to show up
and win at home.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Okay, what do you think, Nate. I'm a Grant.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
I think the Eagles are gonna find a way to
win this game. They're seven to two, They're fine. They
went through a little bit of Rocky, you know Rocky
couple of games earlier, but they seem to find a
way to come together and win. I think the Eagles
are gonna get it done first of the Lions.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
I like the Lions. The Lions are a better defensive team.
I think they're better offensive team. I think they find
a way to win this game and got to be
a lot of fun to watch. What a slates, What
a slates this weekend? I can't wait. Right now, I'll
be calling number five three oh three seven one three

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
