Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone to another edition of the KSR pre Show.
Today is Monday, November twenty fifth. I'm Billy Rutler, Gelong
with Shannon the Dude. You can give us call on
the Clark's Pumping Shop phone line. That's eight five nine
two eight oh two two eight seven. Text us at
five O two two sixty five sixty six five six
And as always, the KSR Pre Show is brought to

(00:22):
you by Italics Fine Italian Dining right here in Lexington,
Kentucky on Main Street in the city Center. It is Monday.
We've got another busy week of Kentucky sports. Shannon the
Dude is in Louisville. Good to see you, dude. What's
up man? How are you hey?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
What's going on man? How was the weekend?

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (00:38):
It was good. It was good. I can't complain about
my weekend. Uh with a Kentucky basketball and football game
to recap, you.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Get to do the Kentucky Jackson State postgame show, right,
that's right? Yes, So on a level of one to drunk,
how was it well?

Speaker 1 (00:56):
I will say we did have one, if not two
people that I think were lightly and eberated call into
the show.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
But I thought it was really good.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I wasn't nervous at all, dude, you know, I was
born for this, so I thought it went really well.
And after that beat down to Jackson State, I mean,
people were pretty happy.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
So I heard that you did cheat and you brought
in a call screen or somebody said, though you didn't
you didn't fully produce an host by yourself.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Is that cheating is to actually have somebody help with the.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Band here?

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I have to do that every day, you know, So okay,
all right, So because you're doing it right now means
that I should have done it the other night. Well,
luckily I did bring a part timer in and Gavin
did do a good job, so salute to him. You know, Shannon,
they have told the salespeople here at iHeart and Lexington
that you got to start coming into the office more.
You know how COVID people kind of got a little

(01:45):
lazy and started working from home. Well they've told him,
you know what, that's over, You've got to come back
to the office now. And so everybody's here having their
sales meeting, including our own Rachel, who is here this morning.
You came up to me and said that she beats
you in pick a ball Friday after the KSR remote.
Wanted to get your side of things here, dude, how'd
it go the other Let's talk about that.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
First off, I was only one game, okay, okay, and
I was beat I was up on her ten to four.
Now you play two eleven and pickleball, and I was
up on her ten to four.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Good.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Really. I looked across the court and I saw the
disappointment in her eyes. She was so ashamed and embarrassed
of her performance. And then I looked over to my
left and the Y m C A like crew is
there that works there filming it, and I'm going they're filming,
and I'm going, you know, I hate to come in
here and just wipe the floor with Rachel on her

(02:37):
own home court. I just need one point to beat
her between me and you, Billy.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I was like, I'm just gonna let her come back
and be no, you let her win.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
I'm up ten to four.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
That your official answer that you let her win on Friday, let.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Her beat me just because they were filming. And she
was like, you know, she was so disappointed, and I go, look,
this doesn't mean anything to me. I'll let you win.
It's okay, and I let her come back and back.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
How that is so not like Shannon the dude, is
what I mean? Yeah, I mean haunting children in the
crowd at wrestling events. You're letting our sales girls win
and picklebay.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Here's the thing. I had to come to the decision
on this too. Do I beat her, embarrass her, and
then I never get endorsements again because she won't go
out and sell me. You know, like she is responsible
for bringing in endorsements. She's responsible for getting us out
on Fridays at remote. So in a lot of ways,
my salary is tied to the work that she does.

(03:37):
So I could just stomp her and beat her eleven
to four and then, you know, maybe never get another
endorsement for the rest of my radio career. Or Billy,
I could just let her come back, let her feel good,
let her beat me, and then all of a sudden,
it's all good again, and maybe sure go out and
sell more endorsements. I'll make more money. So I'm playing
the long game here, all right, If you follow me,
I'm playing the long game. Let her beat me and

(03:59):
then I can hopefully collect in the future. Oh I
follow you? Way to play a step ahead. See she
was playing checker as I was playing chess.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
That's right, Yeah, that's right. Well, I'll have to go
ask her about it some more, maybe support back.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
But what she says, she'll tell you. She knows.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
She did say she was trying very hard and she
was very excited.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
She's good, she's good. Pickleball is a lot of fun, man.
I know that Matt hates it, but that was the
first time I have played indoors. A lot different, a
lot faster. Indoors. You don't have the wind and everything, you.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Know, different when the elements aren't affecting the court and
the wind.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
It's like shooting basketball. Go out and shoot basketball when
it's wendy and then go indoors. It's a lot different.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
You said the y m c A was recording, was
was Mario there as well? Or there any chance we'll
get a No, he didn't show up.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
No, Mario opted out.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Come on, Mario, what are you doing?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Man? Damn?

Speaker 1 (04:52):
All right? Well, would you rather start out talking about
a win versus Jackson State or a loss versus Texas?
Shin and I'll let you to decide.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Talk about the win over Jackson State, because that was
a lot of fun, was it not?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
And season high seventeen threes for Kentucky as they beat
Jackson State oneh eight to fifty nine to advance to
five and zero. Here's the stat I reiterated a couple
times on the post game Friday night, Dude, four hundred
and eight points have been scored in the four home
games Kentucky's played so far. Four hundred and eight points.
They had twenty nine assists on forty one made baskets,

(05:26):
and shot fifty eight percent from the field. Now, this
was probably the worst team that they're going to play
all year, I get it, but still very reassuring to
see them click on all cylinders like that.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, it feels like one hundred points is a given
so far this year. And just watching the team, Jill
so so early in the season, the way that they are.
We talked a little bit about this last week. The
chemistry for this team seems to be off the charts
for a bunch of guys that Mark Pope just kind
of went out and you know, had to quickly put together,
and his assistance as well. I mean, the team just

(05:56):
overall seems like they're really clicking on all cylinders. Yes,
it was a gas to bad Jackson State team, But
you do have the win over Duke or are we
just going to act like that didn't happen? And you know,
you got a stretch of games coming up that are
going to be competitive. I don't know, like, how's Western
going to be? I'm talking Clemson in Konzaka, But how's
Western going to be tomorrow night? Or are they any good?
I haven't watched any Western games.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
I mean, they're kind of middle of the road. It's
not the best team Western's had over the last few years.
But you know what, hopefully it's a team that can
compete for the Conference USA title something at Rick Stansbury
was not able to get over the hump with Steve
Lutz did, but he's gone now. I mean he's gone
to Oklahoma State. They've got a new guy named Hank
Hank Hank Plona, and so you know, hopefully they bring

(06:39):
a little fight. But I just the way that I
see this team clicking, I'm not sure if a team
like Western can slow them down. I really can't see that.
So hate to be the bearer of bad news for
the people in Bowling Rain. It's just this is a
this is a freight train right now.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
There's just so much fun to watch, man. I Mean,
we knew what we had, I think in Kobe Brea,
we knew that we had the best three point shooter
in the country. But oh wait, we didn't hear a
whole lot about him over the summer from practices. You know,
we were getting occasional reports from practice. I feel like
he has been our most valuable player for the season
overall so far, has he not? I mean he came

(07:14):
out and get what twenty one points?

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Twenty one and a lot of it was early. Yeah,
I mean twenty minutes, plays good defense. A guy comes
over from Oklahoma, you think he might be come in
and play spot minutes. No, he he's taking that starter
job and he's not giving it back. He's been really,
really impressive. I got to give him that, and not
only the threes. About the dunks, man, in the second half,

(07:38):
they kind of went cold from beyond the arc, and
whether it be Jackson Robinson or Lamont Butler flying high
with his one hand, the guy started to really slam
the ball.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
You know.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
At one point, Shannon, a guy threw his shoe at
Brandon Garrison as he went for a layup that was
probably the best part of the game.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Yeah, you know, was it not?

Speaker 1 (07:57):
How is that not a technical foul, not a in general,
not a technical, not a common foul. They just acted
like it didn't happen. Brandon Garrison turned around and had
a couple of choice words. But that's something you do
at the y m c A, right, not at the
Division one football.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Yeah. I should have thrown my should have thrown my
shoe at Rachel when she beat me in pickleball. But yeah,
I don't understand, like, you know, you've got to toss
it to the side. Now, you just threw it at
I forget which player it was for Gitar just threw
it right at them, and somehow that wasn't a no call.
But that Yeah, that's not something you see ever in
college basketball. Just taking off pieces of your wardrobe and

(08:32):
chucking at players. Yeah, take off my jersey and wrap
it around somebody's neck. I mean, you know, is that
a technical foul?

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Not a foul? Not a foul? Maybe it's kind of
like the people throwing beer bottles on the football field
when they don't like a call to possibly force a review.
How about just throw a shoe you know, they're not
going to call a foul. They also had to fix
like a cord that was coming off the backboard at
one point. What was I don't know there, Maybe it
was like a mic that had it had loosened or
something like that around the rim, But like Andrew car

(09:00):
was getting up on a step ladder to help with that. So,
I mean, there was a couple of bizarre moments. But
I will say, dude, that I thought we really got
prepared for the game well with the scouting, the report
that myself and Ryan Lemon shared on the show Friday.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Well mostly Ryan, mostly Ryan.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Well hold on, now, I mean I had had some
great answers as well, but I mean shout out to Ryan.
He had the names of all the guys down. Just
to just goes to show you that you give Ryan
a task and he puts his mind to it, he
can he can learn this stuff, right.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
You know, if you told me, okay, let's try to
learn something about Western Kentucky, I would forget it. Like
I could sit there, I could stare at it for
four hours. I would forget it. That's why I was
always bad at test taking, because you got to remember stuff.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Right.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
I was really impressed with Ryan. Not only did he
know names, he knew numbers, he knew home he knew
high schools for some of these guys. So my man
understood the assignment. He took it seriously. That was maybe
the most impressed I've ever been with Ryan in the
twelve years that I've known him.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Wow, twelve years. That was the most impressive you've been
with it?

Speaker 2 (10:02):
I mean, well, I mean what else is there? Good, Well,
there's some of the limit things that you might be
impressed with.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Okay, a sidebar for a sec we'll put that to
the side. You know, that is the problem with the
American education system because I already have forgotten all of
the Jackson State stuff.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
That's a you never learned it. You just try to
remember it exactly.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
And that's what we do in schools, right is we
learn it just long enough to take the test, yep,
and then it's gone, and.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Then most of it's like most of that knowledge is yeah,
don't even think about it ever again. At that point, Like,
if I had to do long division right now? Could
you do long division if you had to?

Speaker 1 (10:37):
No, No, I can multiply, but division I get a
little like do I do this or that. I kind
of forget yep, you know, not to mention I lost
more brain cells than I got in college, you know.
So it's it's we're just at a point where hopefully
I can just talk for a living the rest of
my life and not have to do anything actual, like
actual work. But like we've been talking about the Cats

(10:59):
big win over Jackson State. They now play Western Kentucky
tomorrow before we kind of get into the Thanksgiving break.
I think it's the Georgia State game after that, and
then you get into the Clemson Gonzaga and then Louisville
right around the corner. So we are fully underway in
that department. Eight five nine two oh two two eight seven.
If you'd like to give us a call, I want

(11:19):
to take a break, and then on the other side,
we'll talk a little bit about the trip to Austin
and the cats consecutive bowl streak coming to an end.
Maybe we have a little hope with what we saw
in backup quarterback Cutter Bowlie. But we'd like to hear
from you today five nine two eight oh two two
eight seven. This is the show before the show, the case,
our pre show we'll be right back. All right, welcome back,

(11:43):
it's Monday. It's Billy ret legend. And Shannon the Dude
eight five nine two eight oh two two eight seven
didn't even mention, Uh, Trent Noah getting his first basket
for the Cats on Friday versus Jackson State. That was
great to see.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
That was cool. Got Travis Perry out there with about
five minutes to good see him out there and always
you know, like that's gonna be the thing. Are the
Kentucky guys gonna play? I mean, that's that's the main focus.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
It took a while. It took a while for this game,
Like it was like five minutes left where the Travis
got in and then Trent with only about two or three.
So we'll see how that continues to play moving forward.
People on the text line, don't believe you're Shannon. No chance,
Shannon the Dude purposely lost after being up ten to four.
So I one hundred percent believe Rachel whooped his little
pickle and stole his new wrestling belt.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
So you think that I really So I was up
ten to four, and you think I just suddenly forgot
how to play and gave up because you got to
win by two. You think I suddenly gave up just
nine unanswered points?

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Just collapse? Yeah, your element, you're playing inside? You really
believe that Rachel turned it to a different gear. Lies,
I call foul. Shannon ain't throwing any event to anyone,
including young ladies, little old ladies, or kids.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
We threw the hay bell tossing thing for you.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Oh now this is blasphemy. I'm gonna cut your mic
off here in a second.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Can't you can't go ahead, cut my mic off? Go ahead,
push the button. Listen that you can't.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
You're not gonna be You're not gonna be talking like
that here on our show. You're not gonna be bringing
that up.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Well, you finished last and everything else. We got to
give you something. We'll give you the little You had.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
The wimpiest little throw and that was the best you
could do.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Where's that little trophy?

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Oh, if you want it.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
You got it.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Look at that or believe I got it right here?

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Trophy.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
I carry this thing around.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
The trophy. That's cute.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Bring it to Thanksgiving dinner this week is so cute.
Let's talk football because we had a huge game over
the weekend. Cats lose to Texas thirty one to fourteen.
I mean, man, a play here or there, it could
have been tied twenty four all in the fourth quarter, Shannon.
But we've been saying that all year, have we not?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:53):
We have, Man, it's just you know, added on to
another frustrating loss. But I think that we had a
little look into the future, though, did we not? With
Cutter Bowley coming in, It's going to be really interesting
to see what happens when Kentucky plays Louisville. Who's the
starting quarterback going to be? Because if it's Cutter Bowley,
I think that means they've officially moved on and they're

(14:15):
looking ahead and he's going to be the guy next year.
So whether or not Brock Vandergriff returns for next season
may depend on if he starts against Louisville on Saturday,
don't you think. I mean, if they move on to
Cutter Bowley and he's the starting quarterback, I think that
says that we've moved on, and you know that a
guy that just came from Georgia and sat on the
bench is not going to sit here for another season.

(14:36):
He's going to go somewhere else where he can be
the number one guy, So I think it all depends
on what happens Saturday.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
No, I think you're right. Matt alluded to this point
on the postgame show. Whoever you start, I think in
the Louisville game is probably who you are going to
go with into next season. So how comfortable are you
with Brock vandergriff You know, Unfortunately, I think the guy
has gotten worse and worse as the season has gone along.
Injuries I'm sure playing a factor in that. But Cutter

(15:03):
Bowlie man, You're right. He did look good. He had
an interception on his stat line that was kind of
last minute, last drive, trying to make something happen. But
he was good, not only in the pocket but on
the run. Ten for eighteen for one hundred and sixty yards.
I mean he flashed the talent, did he not? I
mean so much so, to the point Matthew McConaughey apparently
approached him after the game and said, you're going to

(15:24):
be special kid. Now, I'm not going to make an
opinion by Matthew McConaughey be the end all, be all sham.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
I mean, Matthew McConaughey, come on, he came out and
gave you a pet on the back and said, Billy,
you're gonna be something special one day.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
You'd believe it, that's true. That would be the whole
show the next day, flashing that trophy the whole day.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Yeah. But I mean he did look good out there,
you know. I mean, especially against the number three team
in the country. This wasn't Murray State that he played
against on Saturday. He looked really good, you know, one
hundred and sixty yards if you're comparing that to the
other quarterback. Granted he threw the ball what eleven more
times than Brock did, but still looked really good out there.
So I'm happy for Cutter Bowley. I'm excited for the future,

(16:05):
and I think that he may be our guy moving
forward for next season.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Yeah, it might be. He might be. You know, it's
tough to evaluate Brock with how bad the offensive line
this year has been. But here's a stat for ya Shannon.
Ten offensive touchdowns in eight SEC games this year. Ten
offensive touchdowns. It's it's unacceptable. I mean, that is not
what we had in mind when we looked at this

(16:29):
season in the preseason, and Kentucky is now five and
seven one in seven in sec play. Their consecutive bull
streak is over, and now we take on Louisville this
week before a weird offseason. You know, last year Mark
Stoops flirted with Texas A and M. You didn't know
if he was going to be coming back or not.
He does come back, reaffirms his commitment with Kentucky, and

(16:52):
then spends the entire season complaining about the job it
takes to be a coach in college football today. You
know what I mean, Dude, Like, he's talked a lot
about nil, He's talked a lot about what he has
to do now as a coach in twenty twenty four.
You know, we've talked a lot about is he committed
for the next two years or is he committed for
the next five? And I think how this game versus Louisville,

(17:16):
right or wrong, is going to play a huge part
in the perception that's fan base has as Stoops.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Don't you think, Oh I do, Yeah, I think that
it started though on Saturday. You had to play competitive,
and I don't think they you know, at the end,
they really didn't. So you lose that game, then you
go to Louisville or you play Loivell this weekend, and
if you lose this game, I think that's going to
change a lot of If you're you know, still on

(17:42):
the side of we need to keep stoops, I think
that's going to change a lot of those people's minds.
And you're going to see it that the fan base
go mostly negative. You can lose to Louisville.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Yeah, and it's different than last year though, right, I mean,
Louisville was a top ten team, you were already going
to make a bowl game, and then you ended up
beating Louisville. This time, this is not a great Louisville
team and you're already not in a bowl game. So
I don't think you can save the season with a win,
kind of like the same way that you did last year.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
But at least you can go in with some positive
momental men to thee.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
But the momentum in the in the conversation going into
the offseason can be very, very different depending on how
this last game turns out. And right now you can
bet on DraftKings the Cats are three and a half
point dogs against Louisville.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Does that surprise you?

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Did you think it's in Kentucky or isn't it in Lexington?

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Yeah, I mean I don't I would think that, you know, Kentucky,
that would be worth something. Maybe it is, and maybe
that's you know, if they were at Louisville, it would
be even more than that. So I don't know. It's interesting,
but I think I've definitely taken the Cats. You can
do it as well on DraftKings Promo code KSR. Bet
five dollars, get one hundred and fifty in bonus bets
if your first bet wins. That's the deal right now.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Did look like a very cool environment for all the
Cats fans that made the trip to Austin. Actually a
good contingent of blue got in.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Have you ever been to Austin?

Speaker 3 (19:15):
No?

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Never, never. I've been to Texas recently been to Dallas,
but not Austin. What about you?

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Oh yeah, it's a lot of fun. I actually went
there for You'll love this. You know, rock rock stations
used to have some really cool things that we would do.
And one of them, this was probably twelve years ago,
they flew us out to Austin, Texas to be the
judges for the American Honey Calendar. Girls. You know this,

(19:46):
So that was an Austin Texas talk about a tough job.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
They talk about the best vacation of your life.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Oh my gosh. You know, you'll fly out there. Limousine
shows up, they give you a bottle of American honey
and like a little welcome bag, they take you to
your room and it's like, ease, this is this is
the good life. We don't do anything like that anymore
for the.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
No, that's how that's how radio gets it. They get
you in, they fly out in one trip. Right now
you're running six shows by yourself.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
But uh, what do they call it the live music
capital of the World? Is that right? Is that Austin
or I'm not sure about that.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
I think I know there's a lot of a huge
comedy scene down there now.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Yeah, but but Austin's a lot of fun.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
You know.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Matt loves to go to Austin.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Oh I know I've heard a lot about Austin and Matt.
But looking forward to Drew's report as he is back
on KSR as he made the trip down to Austin.
Let's take a call before we got to take our
hard break coming up here in a second, Dude, who
do we have?

Speaker 2 (20:36):
You know you mentioned the word. It's like he's like beetlejuice.
You say it twice and he pops up. You say
pickleball and pickleball. Paul is always on the line. What's up, Paul?

Speaker 4 (20:45):
Hey, what's going on? Fellas? I didn't get to hear,
but heard come about. I thought you got beat by
another woman wrestling, You got beat playing pickle pickleball?

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Yeah, I let her beat me. But it's okay.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Well now, Sandon, you you weren't playing singles for you?

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Yeah, that was singles.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
If you're playing some single, good I was gonna say.
I never played singles. And I've never lost the pickleball
game because it's doubles and it ain't always on one person.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Well, never lost.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Why it's so addictive? But one thing I wanted to
comment on about the basketball team. I've complained for several
years now. Their biggest problems like a physicality. Well, this
team we have this year is very physical. And I
watched Arkansas the other night, and this reminds me of
something I know the last few years. Kentucky Big Z
for example, I don't think he's got stronger. I actually

(21:33):
think he's lost weight. Outside of this zero there's been
no body change from the Kentucky guys that played here
last year, and I think that was our biggest problem,
and going forward, I think Pope is changing that mentality.
Our two guards, they're grown men, had their guard people.
So I was curious what y'all thought about that.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Yep, thanks for the call, Paul, appreciate it. Man. There's
no doubt that this team is not afraid to make contact, Billy.
They are. They're a physical team, and you know that's
what that that's the way you have to play, especially
when you get into the SEC, right, because it is
just physical every game when you get into conference play,
and that's gonna benefit them.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Yeah, and just look at the backcourt Otaga away Lamat Butler.
Those guys are good defenders and they're showing it early on.
All right, we'll talk more about it. And also a
wild weekend in college football on the other side of
this break, It is the cas Apprecia. All right, welcome back,
It is the CaSR pre show. Just talking about our

(22:29):
bad memories during the break. Yeah, yeah, we can do
DraftKings disclaimers. Yeah, off the top of our head.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Well, you know, we were talking about trying, like how
impressive it was that Ryan could remember all the Jackson
State roster and I said, there's no way I could
do that. And then I just told you that I
did that DraftKings read with nothing in front of me,
and you said, well, see, you can remember stuff, and
I said, well, yeah, it's because I do that every day,
every day or twice, like the last several weeks, it's
been the same disclaimer. So I just I memorized it

(22:56):
that way. But I was telling you, I'm also the
same type of person that as soon as I meet
someone and shake their hand, I immediately forget their name immediately.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
I'm almost the same way. Like at the fire department,
We're meeting all of those heroes that sacrifice their personal
lives to help others, and they'll tell me their name
and I almost forget it five minutes later. It's it's unbelievable. Yeah,
I'm right there with.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
You with that.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Well, I'm so focused on the good handshake and the
good eye contact. I don't even listen to what they say.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Oh, don't get me started with bad handshakes, had so
many of them. Not my fault, though. Something happened to
me Friday night, and I haven't had anybody to talk
about it with, Shannon. So if you can just indulge
me for a second before we get back to the phones.
Eight five nine two eight h two two eight seven.
I had somebody call me before the Jackson State game
on Friday. His name was Nate, and he told me
he was Amish, and I said, well, Nate, if you're Amish,

(23:46):
how are you calling me right now? And he said
he is a part of a technologically advanced community of
Amish that are allowed to use cell phones that are wiped,
so you can only use them to call so Shannon.
He told me that he has no way to listen
to the UK basketball game because he cannot use a radio,
but he can call iHeartRadio and he has to be

(24:09):
put on hold for the entire game so he could
listen to the UK basketball game.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
We had this situation several years ago with a with
an Amish caller that was similar to this. I think
his name was Joe.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Oh, so you've you've had the situation, hapn't he? No,
his name was Nate.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Oh, well maybe it's the same thing, man. I guess
it sounds like it sounds very similar.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
So he just wanted to call and stay on hold
so he can listen to the game. So that's no
skin off my back. I'm like, yeah, sure, you can
stay on hold. So I checked on him a couple
of times, and I heard some other people in the background,
So I think that he was like the whole technologically
advanced homage community was huddled around Nate's phone to listen
to the UK basketball game on Friday.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Maybe he put it on speaker. Yeah, but I guess
you couldn't hook it up to a speaker though, right.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
No, No, See, that's that's kind of my question. I
wanted to I wanted Nate to call back. I hopefully
he calls for the game tomorrow versus Western to do
the same thing, because I've got a couple of questions.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Well, I mean, if you're talking about him right now,
in theory, he wouldn't be able to know that you're
talking about him because he can't listen.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
No, No, I don't expect him to hear what I'm saying,
but I do want to I do want to call
him again, or I want to talk to him again
if he calls in about what he can and can't use.
Because if you can't use a radio but you can
use a cell phone, you know what other loops holes
could you do in a technologically advanced Amish society?

Speaker 2 (25:22):
It's interesting, very very detailed. You can do this, but
you can't do.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
That, right, right? So like why why can't you use
a cell phone but not a radio? Like that's an
interesting distinction to me.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
But you know what, I would love to know the answer?

Speaker 1 (25:36):
I would I would Unfortunately there's probably Amish art listening
right now, but maybe we'll get an answer to that
sometime soon. Let's take another call here, dude, who we
got up next?

Speaker 5 (25:44):
What?

Speaker 2 (25:44):
What's up?

Speaker 5 (25:45):
John?

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (25:46):
John?

Speaker 2 (25:46):
How are you right? Doing? Well?

Speaker 1 (25:51):
Man?

Speaker 3 (25:51):
All right? First present, y'all have a remote uh in
Littlesville this week before play those cardinals.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Know we do not because we were off Thursday for
Thanksgiving and then we're off the following day, so not
this week. We will before we play them in basketball.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Though, Okay, yeah, that's why I was one. You're gonna
do four basketball? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Is cast in Western on Regilar TV tomorrow night or
do you know?

Speaker 2 (26:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (26:20):
It should be. I think I don't think this is
a computer game. I'm not sure which channel it is on.
We'll try to look that for you here, But I
don't think it's the last one. I think there will
be another one this year. P n U, espn U.
So there you go.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
About time.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
I'm with you on that.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
Man. Would you say four and eight points in four
home games?

Speaker 1 (26:44):
It's unbelievable in that wild four hundred and eight points?

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Did Duke Vidia?

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Is only one night?

Speaker 6 (26:51):
Or do y'all know?

Speaker 1 (26:53):
I know they were leading. I didn't see the final score,
but you know that may be one of the more
talented teams Kentucky plays this year and Duke.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Right right right?

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Anything else for us before.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
To let you go just a football team and it's
gonna be I think he can still beat Lobal, but
they can't make all of stinks like they've been in
all seasons. And it is gonna be interesting in the
all seasons with what's going on. Quarterback situation and people
leaving and everything else.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt, it'll be an interesting offseason. We
appreciate you calling in. It's just you know, you can
hear from Stoops tonight and he'll have his press conference
also his calling show, the first real Mark Pope calling
show tonight as well. It's just strange that it's so
similar to what happened with cal last year, Is it not, dude?

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Feel similar? Yeah? I mean, but again, this is football
versus basketball. I know we have to keep our expectations
high for football, but you know, he's a victim of
his own success. You know, when you go to that
many bowl games, that has now become what fans expect.
Before that, we were just can we get to one

(28:04):
bowl game? You know, now we've almost become spoiled. But
you know, you can't consistently be on a steady decline.
So I think he gets you know, he'll be back
next season. The question is what do you do next
season that's going to be different from this season. If
you bring back Brock vandergriff as your starting quarterback, Billy,
aren't you just signing up for much of the same
of what we've seen this year? Schedule's not gonna get

(28:24):
any easier. What's going to be different. That's why I
think that Cutter Bowley is probably going to be the
guy that starts on Saturday. And that's why I think
he's probably going to be if he continues on the
same track the starting quarterback next season.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
You know, you look at the stat about ten offensive
touchdowns in eight SEC games and you question what they
might do at offense. But Mark Stops has already given
a vote of confidence to Bush Hampden saying that he
will be back next year after they've just they've gone
through that position so much they're looking for any continuity.
But I'd be surprised if Eric Woolford is still on

(28:56):
the team the offensive line coach after what we've seen
this year, despite him being back for the second time.
I think there does is going to be some changes
on the staff. But you know, is Mark Stops motivated.
We've talked about that.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
That's why it would be hard to bring in a
buddy like a friend on your staff, right because if
it doesn't work out, do you do what you should
do and fire him and move on and find another
O line coach or because you got that friendship. You know,
it makes it difficult to do that. Yeah, I think
they start crossing you know, family and friendship into business.

(29:30):
It's never a good idea.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
No, you're preaching here because I mean Stoops says that
he hired him back because he was roommates with him
back in the day. They'd spend a lot of time together.
He knows he's a good ball coach, but the common
denominator between the worst offensive lines the last two years
in the SEC, whether it be Alabama or Kentucky, has
been that coach. So, you know, I think you're right, dude.
Let's take another call. Who's next?

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Peanut?

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Hey, Peanut, Hey, how you do?

Speaker 2 (29:57):
I mean, hanging in there?

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Man?

Speaker 2 (29:59):
What about you?

Speaker 5 (30:02):
I'm good? Uh, I want to say I'm on team cutter.
I'm team cutter all the way. And uh, I'm like
you saying and I forget so like I'm not good
at taking tests. And I was so impressed with Ryan
the other day that I have a traffic school I

(30:23):
have to do this week and I wanted like a
subcontract that to Ryan by him help me out.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
Well, Ryan has been to traffic school, he should be
the one actually teaching it. He's been to traffic school
so many times. I mean, this guy gets a ticket
like every every couple of months.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
So just don't let him drive with the drunk goggles
and the golf cart.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Now he will flip a golf cart.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
I did it a couple of years ago, and I
even tried to take pictures of the screen and all that,
and then I and I still plunk. I still flunked
the dawn thing, and uh, I went to do it again.
I thought I might have another chance, and I had
to pay for it again. So I just went ahead
and to lost to the points.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Wow, when you're when you're cheating billy on your on
your traffic test, that's that's a level of desperation I
haven't sunk to quite yet.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Yeah, I guess my advice, Peanut is to write it down.
That usually does help with remembering things, at least for me.
And so to avoid I guess failing traffic school again,
maybe you had to write it down next time.

Speaker 5 (31:23):
Well, I've recruited my wife to help. She's gonna have
to sit down. Wedn't even do it for however long
it takes. I'm not She's not too thrilled about it.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
But you need to do the flash cards. That's what
I always did, Like when I tried to remember something
back in school, could call you do the flash cards.
You give her like, you know, the questions on one side,
the answers on the other, and she just has to
go through the stack of flash cards and see if
you can remember it. That's the best way to do it.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
We used to be a proper society. Yeah, I mean
we used to remember that picture.

Speaker 5 (31:50):
I took pictures of each one and then I feel plunted.
So they they throw in a bunch of dagg on
a curve balls.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
He shut questions. They're trying to ricky peanut. They don't
want you to drive. They're out to get you. Yeah,
all right, Pena, thanks for the.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
I mean, we used to remember phone numbers. I mean
we used to get around with maps and remembering turns.
None anymore.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
It sound like an old man. I mean, I remember
phone numbers.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
I can't get anywhere without a GPS.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Let me tell you, Oh my gosh, I could not.
You want to talk about you know, when you had
to use like map quest if you burnt them out, Yeah,
I mean, if you made a wrong turn. It wasn't
gonna say rerouting. You know, you missed a turn, like
you're on.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
Your own at that point, you get, oh, you're still
waiting for the third left three miles down the road,
and you've already passed it. Exactly Before we take a
break quickly, let's talk a little bit about the weekend
in college football, because you had some bizarre games. One
to Alabama losing at Oklahoma. I think they only scored
three points in the entire game. It's been a weird
year for Kaitlin de Bor. Auburn defeats A and M

(32:59):
and four over times when the A and M receiver
drops it when they start doing alternate two point conversions,
which I kind of hated, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Yeah, I'm not a fan of that either. But you
got to end the game somehow. I mean, Yeah, it's
going to go into seven overtimes like Kentucky in Arkansas.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Yeah, I'd just like to see them, you know, just dude,
I don't know, Shannon, it gets away from.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
The sports, like the overtime system. I get it.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
No, No, it's kind of like penalty kicks in soccer too.
And then also Arizona State BYU talk The ending of
that game was wild. I mean, the fans storm the field,
there's still one second left. The fans had already torn
down the goalpost.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
That's crazy that they had to usher them all back.
I'm surprised they were able to get the game going
in fifteen minutes. Yeah. All those people that come down,
they tear down the goal, goal post, you gotta get it. Okay,
the game's not over. There's still time on the clock.
We gotta get all those people back to their correct seats,
and we got to pull the goal post back up.
Fifteen minutes wasn't that long? I mean was I was like,
this is going to be delayed for hours?

Speaker 1 (33:59):
And how is that on a penalty? Like if BYU's
got to throw a hell Mary, shouldn't they get another
fifteen yards for that? Like you got to control your
own fans.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
And then of course when they win, they come right
back out and storm filled a second, storming with yea
within twenty minutes of the game. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
It was strange to see though, because it seemed like
they were very hostile to the BYU coaches and players,
Like there was students being arrested and just kind of
a dangerous situation with some of these field stormings. But
I mean with one second left, I mean it was
a bizarre ending in that BYU Arizona State game.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
It was a crazy week in college football altogether. I mean,
what do you do now with some of these secs
goals like well mislosing, Yeah, I mean, like Alabama, you're
officially out of the playoff picture, right, I mean, it
wouldn't feel right to have a playoff without Alabama. But
you've lost three games. You don't put them in the playoffs?
Now do you? Indiana lost, what what do you do
with them? You know, do you do you punish them
for losing one time? Although they did get their butt kicked,

(34:55):
it wasn't that competitive. Do you drop Indiana? How the
play there tomorrow night when they un all that playoff,
the twelve team playoffs, It's going to be very interesting
to see how do they weigh like your win loss
record versus your strength of schedule?

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Yeah, I think the old miss loss actually got Indiana
into the playoff. If you got to watch the Indiana
Ohio State game, Shannon, because we had high school basketball
on here on Fox fifty six, which was not a
popular decision. If you looked online, unless.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
She went to Chaos Bar and Grill. Because I hear
that we had it.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
There broadcasters in Lexington. We're calling it the worst program
local programming decision of all time in Lexington.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Yeah, I don't quite understand that.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
And I guess you're expecting it to be Michigan Northwestern
and then it ends up being the biggest game in decades,
if not ever, for a local region team in Indiana.
So it was just a disaster. But that game was
a bit of a blowout. Ohio State took it to him.
If you'd like to watch a football game like that
at a place like KOs Bar and well, here's another option.

(36:00):
How about Poppies Mexican Restaurant. If you're in Lexington. Poppies
is the perfect place if you're looking for authentic Mexican
food right now, they're currently accepting reservations for the upcoming holidays.
And if you buy a fifty dollars gift card, you
get a bonus ten dollars gift card. How about that
if you get a fifty dollars gift card for your
friends or family and just get a little ten dollars
gift card for yourself, to get an appetizer or some guacamole.

(36:24):
If you go to the Palomar Fountains location, they have
one hundred and fifty inch projector TV. And if it's
your birthday at Poppies, they can make a birthday video
and play it on that big one fifty inch projector
TV within three or four minutes. Not to mention game
day taco trays that start at twenty five dollars for
ten tacos, twenty tacos for fifty dollars, and fifty tacos
for one hundred and fifteen TC one hundred and fifteen dollars.

(36:47):
Poppies is a great place to watch a game or
eat some good food. So the Palmar Fountains location or
in Chevy Chase above Charlie Brown's is a great place
if you're looking for your next family meal. That's Poppy's
Mexican and Restaurant. We'll take a break, get to some
of your phone calls. Next we'll wrap it up here
on this Monday edition of the Case Apprecia. All right, now,
you got me going a little linkybiss here on a

(37:09):
Monday A five nine two eight oh two two eight
seven or textas five oh two two six five six
six five six, where one person says, Shannon, do you
have any tips when it comes to lyrics and remembering lyrics?
As we talk about our bad memories this.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Morning, that's another good point. You know, I've talked about
having a bad memory when it comes to trying to
remember players and names, but I.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Think you have to write those down. Well.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
I mean, the thing is a lot of these songs
I've listened to my entire life, so you know, twenty
thirty years of listening to a song, you just you
just kind of remember it whether you want to or not.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Right right, And as a rock DJ, I'm sure that's
times ten. Yeah with yeah exist some of the songs
that you've played over and over again a.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
Lot, but we play or on QMF or songs that
we play in the band, So you're right right, And
we're playing Wednesday night, by the way, Wednesday, Oh yeah,
we're at uh G's and Lobell out there on Chepeople Road.
So if you need to get away from forest family fun,
you know, you got the uh the in laws coming
in and you need to escape for a few hours.
On Thanksgiving Eve, come out.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
To mister g's that's a great point. That's a great
point as always a good party night as well the
night before Thanksgiving and uh and also the night before
like Friday, the kind of all that that time. Let's
go back to the phones though, dude, who's up, David?

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Hey David, what's up?

Speaker 6 (38:27):
Good morning, gentlemen, great show as always, Billy on the
Billy All Billy Are Sports postgame Show Saturday. Your guests,
Matt seemed to take issue with when you said that
you're done with Brock. I totally support that. But the
thing that worries me about the loisvill game is, you know,

(38:51):
with our Swiss cheese offensive line, I think they're probably
gonna blitz on every potential pass play. So maybe you
start see if he gets crushed, see what they're doing defensively,
and then put cut her in. What do you guys think?

Speaker 1 (39:07):
Yeah, there's some truth to that. Thank you for the call.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
You know, whoever's back there could could have a rough
day with with that offensive line out there. But you know,
people say, I'm going to start the guy who's gonna
give me the best chance to win, and I think
that's shifted now to cutter boldly.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Yeah, I mean, the thing about it is too again.
I was talking about this earlier. If your mark stoops,
you got to think ahead to the next season. And
if you don't know who you're who you want to
be your guy, your your starting quarterback for next season.
It's a tough choice. But if it's Cutter Bowldy and
you've already made that mind, you made your mind up
on that decision. In that case, you probably start Cutter.

(39:45):
Why would you?

Speaker 1 (39:46):
But if you pick Barack, is cut her back next year?
Is he gonna hang around and be the backup for
another year?

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Yes? And I'll tell you why, Because even if Brock
comes back, I think that now he's had enough playing time,
he probably feels confident enough that he could beat Brock
out for the starting position. I don't know that you
can bring back Brock and promise him the starting position
for every game.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
I just don't know. I don't know, absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
And if you listen to Cutter Bowley talking after the game,
he sounded like the guy who is the leader. He
sounded like he spoke as if he were the starting quarterback.
You know, I don't know if you picked up on
that vibe or not.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Well, not only that I think the point was made
that the guys on the TV broadcast said that everybody
played a little harder when Cutter went into the game.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
The different energy is just a different vibe, a different
energy when he was in the game, and that's undeniable, which.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
He definitely needs something different.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
Yeah, yeah, and I think he booked he he works
better with Bush Hampton's offense.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
Tell me about DraftKings before we have to go, Dude, Yeah, Draft.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Kings promo code KSR. You're probably going to be watching
some football coming up Thanksgiving Day right with your family.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Yeah, of course, Yeah, of course you will be.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
Why wouldn't you bet it on Draft Kings promo code KSR.
Bet five dollars, get one hundred and fifty bonus bets
if your bet wins. Is core big with Draft Kings
the number one place the bet touchdowns and the possibilities
are endless with DraftKings Promo code KSR.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
Billy, I'd be remiss if we didn't mention the UK
volleyball team winning their eighth straight SEC championship. They won
at least a share of the championship after sweeping Arkansas
over the weekend. They will play Missouri on Wednesday for
a chance to have the outright title. But Craig Centner
and their group, after taking some tough losses early in
the year, have won eight straight games and a eighth

(41:28):
straight SEC championship. Couldnot be prouder of those girls and
coach Skinner a former KSR pre show guest, So congratulations
to them. We'll be looking forward to watching them in
the postseason. Appreciate everybody call it in. Sorry we did
not get to everybody, but we're gonna hand it off
to KSR and Matt Jones next. This has been the
KSR pre Show. We'll talk to you tomorrow.

I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
