(00:01):
Half the Monday, everybody, andthanks to our friends as CDTA, we
get this thing started out with pureenergy, pure adrenaline, the kick starter
if you will, of course,CDTA getting us all where we're going.
We'll talk more about that coming up, but let's start with number ten.
Near and dear to my heart,if my heart was my butt. The
Yankees stink. The Yankees are notawful right now. It is painful to
(00:27):
watch here now three games back inthe Al East, guys, they are
six and sixteen the last twenty twogames they stake Welcome back Levac Hi.
Here we are oh six and one, last seven series four and nine versus
the Socks and the Orioles combined thisseason, one and seven in the last
eight Sunday night games against the RedSox, oh and four in the last
four rubber games. It is nota good time to be like, can
(00:50):
we just drew it up back likethirty games ago when everything was good?
Wasn't a Mariah Carey that said timedoesn't really exist sometimes when you're not in
studio or our content's a little different. I thought, wasn't there a time
when the Yankees were unbelievable? Wasit June fifteenth. Before then, what
was it? There was a timeall of a sudden, we're gone for
a few days and the Yankee stink. They're very bad. Thirtieth in like
(01:14):
every stat and Raphael Devours. I'msure we'll talk about him or throughout the
day that fat. Yeah, buthe's you know, because he's eating up
on the leg Yankee pitching. Theywere talking about how good he was against
Cole. I was like, youknow what, I'm gonna bet at any
time home run for Devours. Andthen I didn't do it because I was
like, no, that's like rootingagainst myself. I don't want to do
(01:36):
that. And I'm like, god, I wish i'd done. At least
it's something good would have come outof that. No, nothing good,
nothing came out of it. Somethinggood came out of negotiating with the Lakers
for mister Dan Hurley number nine onour Kickstarter Dan Hurley gets a six year,
fifty million dollar deal from yukon bigold twenty million dollar rais just for
(01:56):
flirting with somebody else. Imagine that, guys, you flirt with somebody,
come home, the wife's like, you know what, why? Whatever you
want for dinner? For the restof your life. Someone make a thirty
for thirty that only sports media peoplewould watch. It would be how the
media manipulates athletic directors, owners andmore. Tanio Woj was behind this whole
thing. Woj conspiracy. Wog wrotea book about Dan Hurley's Dan Bobby Jimmy,
(02:23):
who's the legendary coach, the highschool guy coach Hurley in the Hall
of Fame, wrote a book abouthim, and then all of a sudden,
he's the first one to break thestory about the Lakers. Woj deserves
a little cut of that check.Man. It was a big, big
check. Good deal. Congratulations, you are richer for cheating on your team,
Bob Hurley Senior. Sorry, Levac, that's what's the that's Heary.
(02:46):
I stopped listening to you as Iwas. I was counting my fifty million
dollars whether she'll never ever ever getall right on to number eight. Let's
just listen. I need a plusthing from the Yankees this weekend. How
about ben Rice? Ben Rice threehome runs against the Socks in that offensive
explosion from the Yankees on Saturday, they either score fourteen runs or none.
(03:08):
Literally, Ben Rice first Yankee hitthree home runs in one game since the
captain Aaron judged it in September ofI believe it was twenty two. I
thought he's stunk for a while, remember that whole thing where he like didn't
know the ball wasn't in his hand, and then he went to first and
he was terrible. And then hehit three home runs. And you know
what, maybe you're not so bad. You're doing okay, maybe fine little
(03:30):
average in there, you know, maybe go from like not a stupid error
to three home runs, maybe ahome run a game, and then play
good field, you know, goodfirst base. I don't know why I
find it funny. Guys like hein a Rice in Clinton Frazier, I
find it funny that there's so manyrandom numbers have to wear now because of
the Yankees retiring somebody. The factthat Ben Rice is wearing ninety three,
(03:53):
well, I find that funny tome. Think about by the time your
kid plays with the Yankees, andthey had Cobs, Rex, Gazlowski,
Aix on your program, everybody andhis little brothers joined the team too.
That's a number side here we goand joining the team later this year.
Other kids who well, they'll justdraw something on their uniforms and that's what
(04:15):
they'll be. It is a littleridiculous, I'll admit it. How about
the Mets, they are who wethought they were. They're a five hundred
team right now, So they struggledall the way back to five hundred.
If they stayed five hundred throughout therest of the year, I think you
got to feel pretty good as aMets fan. Definitely more fun to watch
the Mets right now than the Yankeesin the last twenty or so games.
Remember was fun to play the PittsburghPirates and they didn't stink. Now they're
Pitching's unbelievable. They've got I believeschemes of stats. He's the first player
(04:41):
ever in the history of baseball tomake an All Star team the same calendar
year, twelve months that he wasdrafted. It's pretty impressive. Yeah,
he's that the only ones you makean All Star team and bet everyone's favorite
only fans model all in like onelike one year. It's really really impressible.
I wish I could throw one hundredmiles per hour. That'd be great.
(05:03):
She on only I don't even knowif she's really only fans. I
really don't even know. We haveto check the Major League Baseball All Star
rosters are out there. Three Yankeesmake the squad, three of your filthy
Orioles, three Mets. A lotof threes out there. I was at
three. I don't think it wasthree Mets. Actually maybe back up.
Yeah, Pete Loss was probably namedthe team for the Yankees. Aaron Judge,
(05:26):
Juan Soto, play homes. Theymake the All Star team. Let's
go Yankees. Maybe you can playwell for that team. Thirty two first
time All Stars? Is that thenumber four? I believe that is correct.
Yes, and I believe the numberslike fourteen or fifteen two time All
Stars. Just a lot of youngtalent in the All Star Game. It
feels like it's been a decade plusof that storyline of the young talent of
(05:47):
baseball needs to be showcase at theMidsummer Classic. It's true. But actually
they're all that good. Usually thiswould be the day. We could do
it later in the show. Ifyou want social media, you can let
us know. Usually. Oh,I can't believe they left so and so
off the All starts. I haven'theard any of it. Well, you
know, the weird thing is youmentioned like, remember when it was fun
to play the Pirates, Remember itwas fun to play the Royals. Those
(06:10):
two teams being as good as theyare has definitely skewed that number in that
direction. Bobby Witt Junior out therefor his first start, a lot a
lot of first starters, David Fryfrom Cleveland, Jared Duran from Boston.
They're not starting, They're just inthe game. They're in the game.
Sorry, there in the game, the game, in the game. Yes,
Sports, these are the reserves. These are the reserves. I apologize.
(06:31):
I get excited. Sometimes they're notgood enough. All right. You
might be an All Star, butnot good enough. Brandon Nemo is on
the the reserve roster for the NationalLeague, as well as Pete Alonso the
Polar Bear. Speaking of mister Alonzoats number five, he Alonzo raised his
hand instantly and when I don't reallyknow about this All Star game you speak
of, but I'd love to bein that Home Run Derby again. Two
(06:54):
time champ Petere Alonzo now in theHome Run Derby. He will compete for
his third title. He will join, But dude, I think there's only
two there are in there so far. But he's there's three in there are
already, but chance to win histhird third home Run Derby title. I
(07:15):
like watching him go to the homeRun Derby. He's fun. I love
that he owns this, that hesays he wants to do it. The
NBA get like a weird feel ifyou do the dunk contest, but not
so much if you do the threepoint shootout. Hockey doesn't have that type
of stigma. It feels like thisthe NFL Pro Bowl, nobody's owned,
Like I want to be the conedrill guy or the flag football guy.
(07:38):
I like that Pete Alonzo owns this, that he wants to be the best
three peat potentially three peat. Ilike it. Who's his name is Alonzo
three Peat? I believe it's KennyKen Griffy Junior is the only one to
other do that. Ken Griffy Juniorman. I feel like Michelta Hotta might
be on that list. Wow,is it just Alonzo and Griffy Junior.
There's got to be another one.I feel like we're missing an obvious one.
(07:59):
I'll look you. I mean thisis the beginning. We were on
vacation for a while, so Imean, there's a chance We're gonna make
a couple of mistakes early. Youknow it could it could happen. Ken
Griffy Junior is the only name thatcomes up to me right away. So
that's that's what I'm gonna go withuntil later. Later, we'll talk more
about this and I'll bring it back. The other two people who already locked
(08:20):
in your Orioles Gunner Henderson and thePhillies Alec Baum. Those three people right
now are in the home run derbyas we know, Princefielder and jo nassessmentis
they've all won three, they've allwon two, and Griffy Junior said one
has won three, so yeah,so they only one on one three and
that was Ken Griffy Junior. Ithought you said too. We're off to
a great start. Pe Pete alsocould do it. Yes, I mean
(08:41):
then, okay, yeah, wenailed it. All right, we nailed
it. You know what number fouruh CDTA Kickstarter. They're very proud of
it. Today Hard Knocks. I'vedecided that the off season Hard Knocks,
which we haven't really had a chanceto talk about because of certain vacation issues
that were arising last week. Basicallythis is going to be an entire series
(09:03):
dedicated to Hey, did you knowDaniel Jones makes forty million dollars a year?
Hey? Did you know? Thisis Daniel Jones's chance to approve he
belongs. Hey, I'm not gonnapay a running back twelve million dollars a
year to pay a quarterback forty milliondollars a year. Damn the ball the
amount if you drank every time inthe first week they mentioned what Daniel Jones
makes or how much pressure he's under. You're still in a coma from last
(09:24):
Tuesday. So Daniel Jones, you'reunnoticed thanks to HBO Hard Knocks Austin's a.
I need a whole segment on thistoday. If you're listening to a
podcast side it might be hour three. I need all of this. This
is the thing being off last weekand that I got the most worked up
about that. I'm yelling at didyou see this Daniel Jones start. I'm
yelling at poor people on the beachabout Daniel Jones. It is a love
(09:46):
letter to Daniel Jones, but there'sa lot of issues giants, fans,
I'll say it again, concern. It's a high level of concern here about
the wayne which this is being perceived. But that's a tease for later on
the show. Likely I our number. Okay, all right, that's what
you think. We was speaking ofthree? How about number three? Caitlyn
Clark first ever WNBA rookie to recorda triple double as the Fever get the
(10:13):
Big upset, win and win eightythree seventy nine over the New York Liberty.
Caitlyn Clark remembered how to play thebasketballs. I don't want to be
this person about Caitlyn Clark. Isit weird to have stopped caring as much?
Is it weird that, Like,if you're a Kaitlyn Clark fan,
you're a Kaitlin Clark fan, that'sgreat. Like that's your girl, that's
(10:33):
your athlete you root for. She'sa phenomenal female athlete. I guess I've
kind of faded away a little bitfrom WHOA. We gotta watch everything she
does. It feels like there's aseparation between you like women's basketball, you
like the WNBA, you like CaitlinClark. Like there are three different realms
of people. I don't know ifthey're crossing over. I don't know if
(10:54):
it's like, oh, I lovethe WNBA, do you or do you
like Caitlyn Clark? Oh, Ilove women basketball? Do you like college
basketball? Or do you like theWNB? It feels like that's three categories
now, and I'm feeling that, like how many people are going about Asia
Wilson, how talking with people haveabout Angel Reese's Double Duck. If you're
a Kaitlin Clark fan, that's whyit's popular. That's it. It's okay.
(11:16):
You're gonna be a fan of likehip hop music, but not be
a fan of certain rappers. You'rea fan of Morgan Wallen, but not
be a fan of country music. You could have that having for Kaitlin Clark.
That's what it feels like. It'shappening to me. Number two on
the CDTA Kickstarter your how many Firebirdswill host the Salona Liberty this Saturday two
(11:37):
thirty at the MVP Arena. You'regonna get a whole seat with a really
reasonable ticket price, but you'll onlyneed the edge. It's gonna be fun.
This is a team that didn't wantto play here. They did everything
they could to not come here.Well, guess what, Fate's a cruel
mistress, my friend. Now you'recoming here. The boys are clean,
They're ready, they're excited to playguys. Liberty finally dies for all this
(11:58):
Saturday, You're gonna be quite busy. Well be for those welcome. If
it's the first time listening to Levacost Levak is the team president of the
already Firebirds getting ready. If you'reto impeach myself many times, If you're
an a Rena a football fan who'sjust found our podcast, this week,
it's gonna be an interesting a weekbecause, uh, Levac will be doing
a lot of things your schedule willbe joining us all five shows. Not
(12:20):
that I believe I know this week, but we will have more insight on
this show that I believe I know. Confidently, I'll say any market that's
associated with Arena football this show,we'll have more info, more scoops,
more storylines, and more covering thesemi final action leading up to the Arena
Bold next week than any other showyou can find around the country. Tomorrow.
(12:43):
Look at that, you beat meto it. I was gonna say.
We are scheduled to be joined bya few Firebird players tomorrow Tomorrow live
at Mohawks Chevroline Ma does a chance. One of the owners of the team

(13:05):
right, it's the number two ofthe Firewards. Get your tickets now,
do you not miss out on thishistorically great game. We are gonna have
so much fun, all right? So number one, I've got A one
A and a one B, Soone A, one B. I I
didn't think I had ten. NowI have eleven because I looked up and
realized that Wimbledon is on, Souh, there's that big tennis thing is
happening right now. That's That's oneb our most popular takes on tennis have
(13:28):
been people criticized. I thought itwas you, but now I wonder if
it's me. People's criticizing the waywe pronounced Wimbledon. Yeah is it Wimbledon?
Yeah? Now Wimbledon really going Wimbledon? Because I like to upset people,
so I leaned into it. Alot of people have criticized the way
we pronounced the word Wimbledon, Wimbledon, Wibbledon. You know what it was
(13:52):
it for the US of A.This is be a German tournament. Okay,
all right, think about like thatwombled us say USA and the real
number one, if you're watching Moneyin the Bank, you may not actually
be able to see John Cena formuch longer. Is John Cena, the
sixteen time champ, the greatest wrestlerof all time in some people's opinion,
(14:16):
came out and made the announcement thathe is retiring. Not right, dad,
but like next year, he's gonnado everything one more time. I
have to offer up the story aboutwhat happened during Money in the Bank.
So I just returned from vacation. We just got back to the Campo to
region, and my oldest Rex washaving trouble going to sleep because he's on
vacation. You're yelling in the otherroom, a pretty close to what happened.
(14:43):
So he's having trouble going to Sleep'ssupposed to go to bed, go
to bed, but he's not watchingMoney in the Bank. He's watching wrestling
with his dad and he's loving it. So I put him to bed and
I can tell he's not asleep, and then John Cena comes out and he
knows who Johnson, He's got likea collection of like ten wrestlers he knows.
And John Cena. He he askedme, Dad, who's the biggest,
biggest good guy ever? And Isaid it's either Haul Cocher or John
(15:03):
Cena. It's like wow, okay, and then John Cena comes out,
So what did I do? Isit Edigo Rex? John Cena's on wrestling?
He goes, It's like, bringlittle Rex down the stairs. He's
all excited. There's John Cena. He's and then he announced retirement. He's
like, oh Dad, what doesthat mean? Why isn't he wrestling anybody
right now? I'm like, ohman, I bombed this. Oh god,
(15:24):
I brought a kid, woke himup, a four year old,
to tell him that John Cena's retiring. A have to Oh my, I
thought I was doing the right thing. Well, now he knows doing to
cherish every match that Sina has movingforward. There's gonna be like squabbling over
who gets to face him in allthese matches, right like, everybody's gonna
want to be one of the lastto face John c I thought for sure
(15:46):
the Wyatt six were gonna come outduring that and just like pommel him.
Ooh. I thought they were justin honor of like his last thing against
Bray. I would have been good. Yeah, that's man, that's coming
up. Listen, my cousin Pauldoesn't call me as much as he should.
He's gona what he does though. He's all right, Paul evec uh.
He's not bad. He's bad.Way I enjoyed money in the bank.
Besides the champion not kicking out atthree, I very I watched a
(16:08):
little bit it was on, butI was doing other stuff getting drunk.
You know. There's things to dowhen you're off and you're stressed out,
and I wasn't really. I wasnever off like it was you were.
I just was working one job thatweek instead of three. It's kind of
it's kind of nice and not gonnalie to you. I'm trying to figure
out what off is it's not.Is there something between on and off?
(16:29):
Like it was like kind of hooveringin between. As I continue to get
back to anyways, I'm not gonnaplain about going on a vacations, right.
That's that's the kickstart of the vacthere it is. It's brought you
by CDT, A hop on boardwith the CDTA and explore the capital region.
They have over fifty routes to connectyou to what matters. Along with
the CDPHP cycle featuring e bikes andthe Drive electric car sharing program, c
(16:53):
DTA is what connects us with amobility menu. To meet all your needs,
visit CTA dot org, download thenavigator app, Get Connected Today.
Cdt A as like I've realized thatlike the CDTA bus drivers, because they've
been driving these wrestlers, they knoweverything. It's timed right, so you
(17:14):
just kind of watch. If youif you want a quick ride around the
area, you want to feel safe, if you want to get where you
gotta go, cdt A, you'reon your way. I've just every time
I see those buses and how howmuch they just know where they're going,
I get a little like, allright, and what I could be sitting
in there and not not worried aboutdriving, and the people were coming at
my truck, I could I couldgo for a nice ride. That's what
(17:36):
I think. Oh, there's alittle more CDTA in my future, my
friends, CDTA dot org. Let'sI don't want to do this, but
I feel like we have to dothis. It's a little deeper into just
how terrible the Yankees have become.Next, it's Lavac and gods on Fox
Sports. It's Lavac and Godz onninety five nine Fox Sports Radio. There's
(18:03):
that show Kill Tony. It's likean internet show Tony Hickliff, the comedian.
It's like a cool thing he doeswhere he gets like a panel.
It's a podcast, but it's alsoa live show. He'll get like a
panel of like really good, youknow, current comedians, and then everybody
there can throw their name in thefish bowl for a chance to do a
minute of stand up with like nationalattention. It's it's really cool, like
(18:26):
like people have become legit stars offof Kill Tony. I watched a lot
of Kill Tony this weekend. Forthe first time, I started to prepare
my stand up. I really didn'tget up for the first time this year.
I was like, you know what, I may actually lose this bet.
You know what, I'm actually okaywith this. I'm willing to bend
(18:47):
the rules here on a Monday iffor whatever reason, you are able to
kill Tony. Right, that's whatit is. I have never seen it.
I will do it tonight. Ihave that in the bear on the
schedule for tonight. If for whateverreason, there's a Capital region connection or
somewhere not too far away, andwe go you and I and you get
selected or have an opportunity. Iwill allow this if you are the one
(19:10):
chosen to have that count as yourstand up. Oh I'm not so way
bigger than that, that's what doyou mean? What's way bigger? No,
it's way bigger if we had todo that, Like if I was
gonna be on Kill Tony, ifwe just went to a show and you
put your name in and then yougot to do ninety seconds or a minute
rather than whatever this could potentially be. I think that's yeah, within the
rules you're talking about, like likeand honestly, yeah, one hundred percent
(19:34):
I think would fit within the rules. But like you're talking about instead of
me just being heckled by us andour friends and listeners of the show,
who are are friends you're talking aboutlike Shane Gillis or Joe Rogan pooping on
my comedy, Like, I don'tknow if that works for me. That's
not that's like I'm down. Likeif I could get on, I would
(19:56):
get on, But I would likeI would have to build for that,
no matter or what like, likefor what we're talking about doing, I
feel like I know our audience.I feel like a substantial amount of crowd
work is needed because they're gonna wantthat. You know, they're gonna want.
They're gonna want and like I know, like guys like Mike Kuorta are
gonna show for that one and throwthings at me, you know, tomatoes.
Yeah, I'm prepared, rocks,I'm prepared for what that one is.
(20:19):
This is another animal. But butlike I said, I was watching
it and I was like, oh, you know what, I started thinking,
I'm flipping back and forth from YouTubekill Tony like the best of Shane
Gillis to the Yankee game, andI'm like, oh crap, like I
might I might actually have to putfive minutes to on it. I might
have to I might have to actuallydo it. Wasn't It's not gonna be
(20:41):
goes. Guys are gonna get likeintroduced and walk off the stage. Just
the Yankees are playing that poorly rightnow? The hell happened? Literally how
I wrote on the notes, Iput what the hell? Yeah? Yeah,
all right? So here is here'ssome stats for the Yankees. I
gave you some during the kickstarter,so I'll give you. I'll give you
new ones. Now, how theseare all the last five home series.
(21:06):
They lost two of three to theDodgers, two of three to the Orioles,
two of three to the Braves, three of three to the Reds,
two of three to the Red Sox. That's those are just home, the
last five home series, so YankeeStadium. They have not won a series,
the last five series. That's justhome. How About in twenty twenty
(21:29):
two, they started the season sixtyone and twenty three, they finished at
thirty eight and forty. They sweptin the ALCS. So you were you
started out hot as hell, youfinished about five hundred when it was you
know, in the home stretch, and you couldn't get out of the a
LCS to the World Series. Twentytwenty three, you started the year thirty
six twenty five, finished it fortysix fifty five, missed the playoffs.
(21:52):
So basically, what I'm saying toyou is the last two years, these
teams, as talented they've been, they've had worst second halfs than first halfs.
So in twenty twenty four, youstart forty nine to twenty one.
You're six and sixteen your last twentytwo games with seventy games remaining, what
are the chances the Yankees win thirtysix of those games? Like, I
(22:14):
mean, in all, since theretythe Yankees need to win what forty four
of the thirty to guarantee they're inthe postseason? Hang on, I want
to I want to make sure.I want to say, therefore, there's
seventy games lest Yeah, the Yankeesare forty nine and twenty one right now?
Yeah, okay, they what doyou gotta be ninety three ninety four
wins that? Okay? I yeah, I did understand what you said.
(22:37):
I want to make sure I gotagain. Okay. I feel like the
Yankees to make the postseason are gonnabe just fine. Like if you hit
around sixty five percent of that numberyou're spitting around here, you're probably gonna
go in. It's amazing to thinkabout this that as bad as the Yankees
are, and they're bad, asawful as the Yankees are, playing the
(22:59):
worst team in baseball right now, they've got a four and a half game
lead up on Minnesota. They've gota pretty significant lead up on Kansas City
and Boston. They could probably goLevec closer to fifty five percent and still
hang out there. Fifty five andthirty seven. Well, I mean,
how many to go to the postseason? What do you need? Eighty nine
(23:25):
wins? Yeah, I think eightynine and a half. I was gonna
set that the over under, SoI will go with eighty nine. But
Minnesota got to say ninety. Let'ssay ninety eighty. Think about this.
Minnesota got with it with eighty sevenlast year, and Houston and Texas got
there with Now you're struggling the Holythrough ninety you're in, right, so
ninety you're in. So they needthirty five wins out of the seventy.
(23:48):
They need to go five hundred tobe in ninety eight to have a chance
at the East. Yes, okay, So now now you have to win
and forty three of the seventy andyou haven't had a winning second half of
the season in the last two years, and you've had this basically this team
(24:14):
or something very similar to this team. I'm not saying it's done because obviously
they're a streaky team. You know, Cole's getting comfortable. He'll had a
nice game until he you know, just until he screwed up. Whatever this
is. This is a team thatcan turn it around, but they haven't
yet. They haven't turned it aroundyet. All Star break is coming.
(24:36):
Need the All Star break, Ithink, and not many of them are
busy because only three of them madethis team. So you've got three at
Tampa, three at Baltimore, thenthe All Star break, all very good
teams, all teams that potentially couldcause them an issue facing off with those
matchups. Can we go back, though for a second, because we're talking
(24:59):
postseason, I don't know if Iwent to the base of the matter.
You're not concerned they're gonna miss thepostseason? Right? Did I miss the
easy lead question there? Like we'redoing the math they're trying to figure are
you concerned that there's actually a potentialthat they're not going to the postseason anymore?
Because I honestly don't even think that, and I'm an oriole fan.
Okay, so second half of theseason, all Star break, on that
kind of area, right, Thisteam has not gone five hundred. If
(25:23):
they don't go five hundred, theycould miss the off, they could miss
the postseason. They got I mean, and that's when all hell breaks lose
That's when it gets real fun. Now, if I'm doing that kind of
math, somebody in the Yankees organizationis doing that kind of math. Somebody
just sat down in in uh inCashman's office, in Boonie's office, and
(25:45):
today, guys, just to we'reclear, it's probably how or how may
I? How may I have thisconversation? How might have a guy who
has it like like the well, you know, the rain Bringer, I
don't know what you call it,like just this evil dark messenger who just
comes in and sits down and goes, hey, guys, great start to
the season. I mean I washow and I were talking over golf and
(26:07):
love the start of the season, and we're sitting there, we're like,
well, can you imagine how goodthey're gonna be when they get when we
get cole Back and all these otherguys, And then we got cole Back
and you guys suck. Okay,so let me just be clear. You're
gonna need to be playing, youknow, late late September, or we're
(26:30):
gonna redo these offices because they gonnabe somebody else's all right, good talk,
guys, Yeah, they're gonna go. We're gonna grab some lemonade.
You guys like lemonade. Great,we watch you guys to play, but
just better than you are now,so like not this, per se what
you're doing, but like not this, but better than this. And that's
the thing that keeps of all theYankee struggles, of all the movement we've
(26:52):
seen in the al these things withdown Baltimore over the top, with Boston
finding themselves in the playoff mix, which Red Sox fan, it's amazing you
think about this team that I callthem the no name Red Sox. At
one point, I'm like, theycan hit. I guess now like it's
July eighth, and I've conceded thepoint that the Red Sox can hit.
I thought all the could do wassteel bases. That's it. Just run
around, steal a bunch of bases, get on like a like a eleven
(27:14):
year old playing little league, andprobably twelve year old's better there that it's
like the one who's way older thanall the other kids, who's just faster
on the bass. Best so Bostonused to be to me, but I
never still and maybe this is becauseI'm not a Yankee fan. And you
could let us know at the JeffLevaco on Twitter at Tom Gohns te imgo's
easy. I've never thought the Yankeesare still going to miss the posseason as
bad as things have gotten for NewYork because look at the American League,
(27:36):
like we're talking about is it ninetyis it eighty five? Is it ninety
five? What the perfect number isfor the Yankees to put some type of
okay, we're all right, We'reokay, they're Baltimore will say, is
the best team in the American League. They've got the best record, They're
a top of the division. Clevelandhas not fallen off. Cleveland has been
right there. We mentioned this inthe CDTA Kickstarter that Cleveland's one of the
(27:59):
top teams in the American lenks withall stars. The Yankees are still third.
Like, the Yankees are still thethird best team in the American League,
and I don't know what team iscapable of catching them. Maybe Boston's
the super easy answer because of theseries they just came off of. But
there's still a four and a halfgame window between you know what this is
like, Levec, you and Iare gonna be broadcasting line from Saratoga this
Friday. Back at the Track.Cannot wait, we love Friday's at Saratoga.
(28:22):
This feels like a horse at Saratogathat had a monster lead. It's
still in the lead, but horsesare catching up to them. They haven't
fallen. They are not in fourthor fifth or sixth, they're not even
around the stretch. Yet something's happeningin the race where it's like, Okay,
don't do this, so switch ahand, rip some goggles off.
(28:45):
It feels like a horse at Saratogathat has not gotten caught yet, but
people are trying to track them down. But the coming in your nest?
Yes, how much gas is leftin the tank? June fourteenth, Friday,
June fourteenth, That was the beginningof the Red Sox Series. They
won that game, but since thatday they are the worst team in Major
League Baseball record wise. Just listen, I did my little chut shot dance,
(29:11):
tell everybody how great we were andwe were all getting better, and
guys can kiss my button. Butda da da da dat and uh the
sports guys were listening, the sportsguys. But you know would be funny
is if all of a sudden,uh Luis heely can't yea he can't throw
anymore and then and then Clay Holmesjust gets really bad. What if?
What if like Judge is still goodbut only when it doesn't matter. That'd
(29:34):
be funny. We should do that. Here, we is here, we
are here, we are don't upsetthe sports guys. Guys, don't do
it. Tell us how great yourOriols are. Go ahead, tell us
how you're never gonna lose another game. It's amazing. It's such a great
time to be an oriol fan. This might be it. This is not
how I thought it would go.I did not think the Oriols would be
a top the American League Division, and they did in the season series in
(29:57):
July with it feeling like it's over, because that's like, that's that's the
core of this lack. And likeI went back to like a couple of
minutes the hours, like what thehell happened? Because it's not like everybody
got injured. You know, it'snot like five guys got injured. It's
not like one guy is so awful. You know, we could point to
a few players who are playing poorly. I know Anthony Rizzol got the heat,
(30:18):
but as we mentioned just a fewminutes ago, like Ben Rice has
been great. It feels like nothing'sreally changed besides the return of Cole,
which doesn't even make sense because he'sout there once every five days. Yeah,
what what happened? If someone geta scotting report? Honestly, think
about it. That series against theRed Sox is where they started stealing bases.
I think it just it kind ofeverybody felt human. There's a little
there's a human moment there. Iwill just you know, not to not
(30:41):
to rain on your parade. Andthe Yankees were up what two games on
you guys, like pretty much likeright around that, like one of the
half two games they just had thethere over the last twenty two games,
they'd be the worst team in allof Major League Baseball. And you have
a three game lead. So likeSimmer, Simmer, if they were just
(31:04):
playing five hundred ball, you needto be ahead of you just putting that
out. To go back to thehorse racing analogy, I'm already celebrating the
victory and going to the window andmy nose goes right by my exactly hit
no, no, no, sir, that the rest of the race hold
on tickets. What do you meanthere's a cash out option on my phone?
(31:25):
That's not the same thing, sir, no, I will notice that.
I want to point that out.The cash out options, you know's,
are a lot less frequent during baseball, like football, and like football
parlays stuff like that. They're like, like the second somebody scores a touchdown
and they're on your side, You'relike, hey, you want to cash
out for an extra dollar, It'slike, well, maybe you know,
But like with baseball, I don't. With the pitstroy parlays, I almost
(31:47):
never see a cash out almost never. I don't know what that is.
I know exactly what you're talking ABOdon't if it's a pitching change. I
don't know if it's delay on thefeeds how we're watching it. I don't
know if it's streaming. Something isdifferent about the baseball ones. Some really
smart's gonna tell us why six andsixteen, last twenty two games, oh
six and one, last seven,Series four and nine against the Red Sox
(32:08):
and the Orioles. How about onein seven the last eight Sunday night games
against the Red Sox, oh andfour rubber games last four So there you
go. And you know the bestpart about it was Boston Dan owed me
fifty bucks from the Celtics series andwe went double or nothing on the Yankees
(32:28):
socks series. So now I didn'teven get the I didn't even I didn't
even get to tease him that longover it. You know, that's just
that's just poopoo. He was textingme about it though, he was,
well, now you know that's see, that's when you know you're in trouble
though, right, like this iswhen you know there's a problem. And
granted there were some things happening overin the uh Over, you know cosa
dee le vac this weekend that Iwas getting people are treating me nicer.
(32:51):
But like when a Red Sox fangoes they're gonna turn it around about the
Yankees, You're screwed because that's likeyou the last you should never get pity
from your rival, like the secondyour rival pities you your hoes, because
that's just like, oh, they'reso bad, I almost forget that,
Like I hate them because my friendis, Oh, it's so bad for
(33:14):
my friend. Like that's like, you know, if I called the Boston
Dan and went, you know,I think we're happy Al Davis could lose
some weight. I think he's gonnabe good. I think everything's gonna work
out. He'd be like, ohno, what happened? Was he got
diabetes? Like what? Like obviouslyyou know you're never gonna be nice to
be about that guy, like youknow it was that was that was a
little disheartening. It was a littledisheartening. So, you know, list
(33:37):
a lot of a lot of realinnings left. We're not even at the
All Star break. We've got time. You get these six games between now
and the All Star break, betweenthe Rays and the Orioles. Do well
during that, it's a whole notheranimal things. Thinks gonna be a lot
lot better. No, not outhere looking for new jobs. No,

and everything like that. I takestuff like this home run derby into account.
(38:45):
I do because I think it makeshim. He becomes an ambassador for
your team, He's more popular foryour team. People care about this stuff.
I care about the home run derbyI don't necessarily like all Star games.
Oh I want to go back tothat, but go on, well,
I've said a million times the ProBowl game sucked. I'm glad they
did away with it. Do achallenge, the skills challenge, do fun
(39:07):
stuff like that. The Baseball AllStar Game that was, that was like,
if you think about it, theMajor League Baseball All Star Game,
if you enjoyed extra inning. Baseballis the uh Janet Jackson brow ripoff of
of Maajor League Baseball. Because whenthat happened, everything had to change.
(39:30):
We do everything, Oh no,everyone's our boss must be protected. There's
the banaza boobyo TV no, andwe had everything changed. But when that
was, you know, the AllStar Games going to extra innings and everything,
everybody looks around like you guys wantto call the tie or something?
You want to what do you wantto do? Like all right, well
(39:52):
we have to make it mean somethingfrom here on that whatever, it just
changed every next thing, you know, regular baseball. Now we've gotta have
the you know, the ca inthe run around second base. You gotta
you know, you get to screamout you know, Apple's peaches, pumpkin
pie, whoever's not ready holler eyebefore you run home. Like it's like,
it's just it sucked it. Idon't. It's very rare that you
(40:15):
see a very good All Star gameevery once in a while. You're lucky
enough that you you know your playerhas a good performance. Home on Derby's
great. That's just fun. That'sjust everybody loves chicks dig the long ball.
So like the fact that Pete A. Lonzo is one two, he's
going for his third. I likethat, And if I'm the Mets,
I take that into account. LikeI've got a guy who's not only you
(40:37):
know, a player and a leaderand does a lot of good things for
me. He's an All Star. He's willing to do the extra stuff the
fans love. I like that.I want to. I'm gonna take care
of this guy. I hear thisterm you use a lot more. Maybe
it's because I'm getting older bandwidth,brain capacity. It's like I only have
so many things in my brain thatI can remember. And I didn't really
(40:57):
understand that quote or that expression untilI got older and had kids. I'm
like, Okay, you only havetwenty four hours in the day, you
only have x amount of time tospend with your kids before they go to
sleep. You only have x amountof time to consume content, and that
happens to a lot of people wherethey may be a casual baseball fan or
just a sports fan that once ina while has time in the summer.
(41:19):
And the home Run Derby is astandalone event. Next Wednesday, although you
and I will be broadcasting live fromAdirondack Tire is known as the deadest day
of the sports here, nothing's happening, but we'll make sure we have three
and I hear a lot of medialive from the American Dream Mall in New
Jersey, Levac. I know,I said that that's actually the smartest move
(41:40):
the Arena Football League could do becausepeople are gonna go to that and bring
coverage and talk about the fact thatthe media day was put on that Wednesday
was a very smart move. Idon't know who gets credit for that.
We will definitely talk about the Firebirdscoming up later in the show, but
seriously, like, that's a greatmove because you're probably gonna grab headlines nashally
from it. But the home RunDerby is a standalone event on my and
it's cool that people can tune inand say oh Alonzo from the Mets.
(42:05):
Hey, I'm a California baseball fan. The only time I watch the Mets
are or the Mets Superstars are duringthe home run Derby. That stuff matters,
like when you do an event xamount of years in a row,
when people can expect you to bethere, they become fans of you and
fans of the team. You mentionedthe All Star Game, and I'm sure
we'll talk a lot about this asbe closer and closer to the Midsummer Classic.
It is so much better than anyother All Star game in sports.
(42:27):
It's almost not even comparable to allthe other ones because it's actually a baseball
game. Like football touch flag competition, it's not a real football game.
Basketball that's not a real game,Hockey not a real hockey game. This
is a real life baseball game withreal pitchers throwing hard and batters trying to
hit home runs. And the ideathat the All Star Game did once have
(42:51):
the home field advantage of the world. You're decided by that, and everyone
every year with the Pro Bowl andthe NBA are like, you know,
what, how do we make thesegames better? Well? What if we
made it? Means hang on that'sbaseball's idea. No, no, no,
I don't What do you mean Baseballmay didn't matter? Well, we
don't want to give them credit,so let's not say it's their idea.
So I do like Peter A Lonzobeing the home run Derby. But you
(43:12):
know the take that's coming, LevagIt's been twenty five years, thirty years
of the same take that. Godforbid if Pete Alonzo stinks after the home
run Derby, the takes year. No, he has exactly, but we've
heard like, oh, the homerun derby ruins a swing? What about
launch angle? What about this? What that will be the take that comes
after? I'm with you on this. I think it's great that Alonzo wants
(43:35):
to be a part of it.I wonder you happy if more Yankees did
it again, if Judge or Sotowere standing put everybody back in there.
Well, I mean, the Yankeesdo have the most home run Derby winners
of any franchise. Glad you broughtthat up. How many Let's let's try
to guess here. Do you gotthe list? I got everything, I'm
ready to go. Can you giveme how many Yankees have won the home
(43:57):
run Derby? You don't want toguess. I do, but I'm I
want to number see if I canget all. My guess is five off
the top of my head. Four, four. Okay, here we go.
I'm gonna Aaron Judge. Yeah, that that happened in twenty and seventeen.
Gosh, I feel like Gary Sanchezwon the next year. Gary Sanchez
is my next guest. He isincorrect, Okay, Aaron Judges won the
(44:21):
one I feel the most confident.I'm almost positive Tino Martinez won a home
run derby. Tino did? Indeed, it was that I believe is that
Yankee Stadium? Nine? Josh? That was the hold on? No,
Tino, Tino was ninety seven?Oh, Jacobsfield. Sorry, Josh Hamilton
won at Yankee Stadium and that wasgonna be one of my guesses. But
he didn't play for the Yankees. That's nice? Could it be? The
answer? Is it? Okay?God, we're not going back to Roger
(44:45):
Merris. Did Roger Merris win ahome run derby? No? The home
run derby started in nineteen hundred andeighty five. All right, I'm almost
was a Jason giambyond, one ofthose great Gmbino the winner in two,
two thousand and two. Yeah, all right, so I got gimp you
know here, the golden thong on, I got Giambi, I got Martinez,
I got Aaron Judge twenty eleven,Alfonso Soriano a Chase Field. Chase
(45:10):
Field, not Soriano. No,all right, last gast and then we'll
I'll punt on this. Not AlexRodriguez, Robinson Cano. Yep, that
was a Chase Field. Yeah, that's why I told you. Oh why
I wasn't listening? Tarted there? You were? You were, you liar,
(45:32):
started, I wouldn't have got that. Who has the most all time
home runs in the Home Run Derby? Okay, that is a trick question.
See, I see what you're doinghere, because that number is inflated
now because more home runs happened duringthe Home Run Derby now than ever before
because of the adjusted rules, which, by the way, heads up for
those who don't know, they didagain change the rules of the Home run
(45:53):
Derby. Why why, why whydid you do it again? Base?
I believe it's a four pitch limit. Okay, so what some painted up
it was starting to think it along, right, But what some people would
do is they'd throw as fast asthey could so they get more pitches.
So they thought it was unfair tothe hitters. What player has the most
home runs and home run Derby history? Is it Pete A Lonzo one hundred
(46:14):
and ninety five home runs? Iscorrect? You are Corea right? All
right? What else? What doyou want most in a single home run
Derby? Okay? This is recent? Two? Gosh? This hap?
Is it? Vlad Junior? VladJunior with ninety one in twenty nineteen.
(46:36):
He also is on the list again, in fifth place for this year with
seventy two. Randy A Rose Arenahas got eighty two last year in Derby.
Yeah, okay, in one Derby. Just in twenty three A Rose
Arena with eighty two, he wasin second of Vlad Garo Junior. He's
fifth all time with seventy two. That was last year. Julio Rodriguez the
(46:58):
Clo Mariners last year, six oneof them. Yeah, quite a few
home runs left the park last year. I don't know what he does.
Eddie Marvis Sides host ESPN Plus. You knew it. You knew what I
was gonna say. Chris Berman willnever retire. Like everyone's like, you
know what I used to love watchingPrime Time. It's still on. What
no, No, Berman's still doingit. Just get him out there to
(47:20):
just have one sound effect all thetime. It Yeah, I'm looking at
the nineteen eighty five home run derbyDave Parker, the Snake Dave Parker.
Then when Cincinnati six home runs wonthe thing, are you mad? Mortal
tie back in eighty six, WallyJoyner and Darryl Strawberry four home runs each,
(47:46):
not impressive, but then they keepthat like that was like nationally versus
American League. So like in eightyfive and in Minneapolis, the American League
won seventeen to sixteen, even thoughDavid Parker the most home runs, and
then it was eight to seven NationalLeague in eighty six, I feel like
sixty two, only four people competed. In eighty seven, it's nothing but
(48:12):
singles doubleg Andre the Hawk Dawson withfour, Virgil the million Dollar Man's versuon
that's Dozzi Virgil Junior LRP. Helove the Olive Garden. There's other stories
about him recently, so we bothwe both like Pete Alonzo being the ho
run derby, but I don't knowif that'd be the number one pick,
(48:35):
Like if you got to pick oneplayer in baseball and New York athletes can
be involved. I mentioned Aaron Judge. I have one that I hope does
the home run derby. Who wouldyou want to be in this home run
derby? Like, if you hadto pick anybody like you, maybe Alonso's
the answer. Maybe it's like he'sthe number one player you want to see
it? What about you? Iwould love to see Judge versus Alonso.
Okay, no, o Tani,I'm zero in circus freak. You know
(49:04):
what. The only one I wantto see is if he if he throws
it, runs over and then hitsit. If he can do that,
he wins, and I'm interested. You know, I'm zero interest in.
I'm okay with Otani ping out there, but he's not my favorite. I
want to see Ellie de la Cruisefrom the Reds out there, just a
big dude smashing dingers. Get himout there. I want Ellie de la
(49:27):
Cruz. This could be his nextweek, could be his week. He's
put up ridiculous numbers for Cinconny,so put him out there. I'm good
with it. There was a guyI want to say he plays for the
Marlins named Berger who had a walkoff home run over the weekend. Whatever
you think a guy I believe hisname is Matt Berger. Whatever you think
Matt Berger for the Marlins smashing homeruns would look like, that's exactly what
he looks like. Get him outthere. Nobody knows who he is.
(49:50):
There was a guy that did thatwith a couple of years ago, just
one big I used the F wordthere, A large man. It's all
right. I' yeah. It's likehaving a friend of that ilk you can
say it. Just smashing homers, big lip in his mouth, spitting it
out, smashing another dinger. That'swhat I want to see in the home
run derby. Yeah, I'm Imean, I always root for my guys,
(50:15):
So it's not really like like didyou know Martinez? One was interesting
because remember that year he just keptpoking him into the short porch like he
was hitting like the shortest. Heprobably for a guy who had home runs,
he probably had the least like yardagecovered by home runs. There were
probably dudes with like five home runswith him, all farther than he hit
him. But he knew his parkand he took advantage of it. I
(50:37):
don't know who else. I wouldrather like modern day player all time,
all time. I have a listthat I would love to see, But
I like, if we're gonna dothis right, here's there's two kinds of
home run derbies. I want tosee the one we have right here that
we're talking about where you want tosee Penalanso versus Gunner Henderson versus Matt Berger
and Aaron Jones or Jodge or Jonesto get Jones in there too, get
(51:00):
them all in there. Or thenlet's do one where we we just don't
care about cheating. What do youmean, juice him up? Like so
said Milwaukee slide wire Conseko. Thebat and the bodies instead of the gatorade
time out, they go over, they get shot up real quick. You
(51:20):
know, everybody's time is a waiver. Everybody. You know, I don't
want to take advantage of their health. I wouldn't like, don't do this
kids, these guys, these guys, their clicker clockers are very tiny.
Now there's like little house pete, little peas, like, no good,
you don't want that. Who wasmore juice this one? Who was more
juice? So? Said Milwaukee whenhe was hitting the slide with what was
it, Bernie Bernie Brewer, Bennythe Brewer when he dropped his bat and
(51:44):
rubber balls whenever was he more juicedfor that? Derby or McGuire at Fenway
Park where he's hitting the ball fivefundered feet. You know what it's that's
a tough comparison, I think,I I I bet you it's close.
Like we're a couple of ccs aparthere we're not. It's not like a
big difference. But I think McGuirewas was already a large human. Like
(52:08):
remember his brother played quarterback for likeI think with Seattle he's a backup.
Yeah, and his brother was likejust tall, big dude too, but
he wasn't thick like Mark because hedidn't have Andrewstine. I believe it was.
But like I think McGuire would havealways been a large human. He's
just far larger thanks to science.Sosa looked like a little dude and then
(52:30):
all of a sudden he wasn't little, like like when when Cecil Fielder went
like over to Japan and he wasa normal sized human and he came back
and he was actually Godzilla like that, Like those are the those are the
guys I want in this one.The ones are like, then literally their
buddy goes, hey, if Ishoot you up with this, you're gonna
hit a lot of home runs, but you're probably gonna live like three more
(52:51):
years. They're like, do it, chick, sneak the long ball.
