It's Lovak and Guz on the voiceof the Capitol Regions sports fan Fox Sports
ninety five to nine and nine eighty. Welcome to the annual Way Too Early
preview of the NFL season with lavakanguys right here on Fox Sports Radio ninety
five, nine nine eighty and theGT Toys that's Toys with a Z Studios.
(00:20):
We're gonna begin with a quick lookat the three New York teams.
Okay, I'm very excited to vac. Let's let's not underplay this here.
This is a big deal. Ifyou're listening to this in July, if
you're listening to this in June,August, whatever it is. We've got
a lot on the line today.By the way, for our podcast audience,
this is arian on the Fox Sportsninety five, nine and nine eighty
side. But if you're a fanof the Panthers, the Titans, the
(00:42):
Falcons, teams that we usually don'ttalk about, this is time stamped for
your listening pleasures. So if you'reon Spotify or Apple or iHeart, whatever
you're using, you can scroll downa little bit to find your favorite team,
but we hope you stick around forthe entire episode. And to add
one other thing I do, we'vegot history on our side. Later on
in this show, Leavack and Iare going to give you our super Bowl
(01:04):
pick for the teams that are goingto play in New Orleans on February ninth,
twenty twenty five. And on thisshow, Leavak and I have nailed
one participant in the Super Bowl. For four consecutive seasons, four straight NFL
preview shows, Lavack and I havenailed one of the two teams. In
fact, sometimes we've hit the superBowl winner. Lavack had the Rams a
(01:27):
few seasons ago. I had theChiefs and Bucks. Levak you last season
nailed the Niners the season before,I had the Eagles. So we're going
for five straight season previews that we'venailed one participant. So that's when you
can get your future wagers in.Now that I've hyped this up, the
expectations are much higher. We willlead this off as you mentioned talking about
(01:49):
the New York teams. Well, dude, Jerseys, shut it, Giants,
Jets, and Bills. Listen,Art, Let's start with the Jets.
I mean, that's this is thisis the team you were supposed to
get a year ago. A yearago. You were supposed to have this
team, you know, give ortake a few roster pieces. Garrett Wilson's
a beast. Rice Hall's a beast. The defense is one of the best.
(02:13):
If you had Aaron Rodgers the entiretime, blah blah blah blah blah.
So let's run it back. Ibelieve the Jets will have Aaron Rodgers.
I believe Hassan Reddick will stop withcosplay and show up eventually. And
I believe you name your child Hassan. There's a good chance he's gonna go
(02:34):
dress as Sam Samurai at some pointin his life. I don't I'm not
familiar with the name, but allI can think of I've always said I
thought his name was Chop, HassanChop. So all that being said,
I just I think the Jets aresuper talented team. I think Robert sala
is a good, not great coach. I do feel as though everybody's working
(02:54):
for their jobs, which will whichwill add a little a little fun to
the season. But I got it. All of it's like an injury away,
you know what I mean. Likeif if Rogers blows out his other
achilles, it's all over, LikeI know Tyrod Taylor is better than what
you had. But I say allof this, I believe in the team.
But I said it all last year. I said it all. We
(03:15):
all said it all. Oh mygod, that could the super bowler bust?
And what busted was Rogers Achilles. So Jets for me, super talented
team. Salikin proved me that he'sa badass coach this year if he really
is. But they got to runtheir own team. They can't let Rogers
run it. And see what happensif we had a time machine and someone
said last August or last July twentytwenty three, when you guys do the
(03:38):
season preview again in July and Augustof twenty twenty four, your biggest question
is about the twenty twenty four Jetswill be how will Aaron Rodgers finally play
as the quarterback for the New YorkJets In Week one of the twenty twenty
four season is more important than aWeek one of the twenty twenty three schedule,
when the Jets opened at home againstthe Bills and now they get the
(03:59):
Niners. Jet fan would be like, what the hell happened? What do
you mean? Week once more important? In twenty twenty four, And what
did you say about Rogers? Whatdo you how he's going to play?
What? Ah? Those things arereality? Those things are true and what's
to haping with the Jets? Ifthere are things to look forward to for
the Jets. And it's been afar different summer, feels like it will
be for twenty twenty four than twentytwenty three. The team is actually better.
(04:24):
The team offensive line wise is improved. Garrett Wilson and Breize Hall are
talked about as some young talent. There's talks of Breeze Hall maybe being a
top five running back this season. You've got most of the staff back that's
still familiar with Rogers. The Weekone matchup's tough, the San Fransco forty
nine Ers, the defending NFC titlechampions. How quickly will the expectations and
the potential criticism or the hype changeafter a primetime Monday night football game on
(04:48):
the road on the West Coast? Those will be all the story ends.
Let's remind Jets fans in particular onemore time, because a lot of people
forget this. They did win thatgame in Week one against buffal Low on
a walkoff touchdown. No one remembersthat because of the Rogers injury, but
they did win the game. Thereis a negative. I gave you all
(05:09):
the positive Jet fans, here's thenegative of twenty twenty four. What happened
in twenty twenty three did make mereconsider how good Aaron Rodgers is because for
a long time I was convinced, whether you want to call it, the
Aaron Rodgers missed got in my head, maybe rethink things that I thought the
Packers were going to be trash lastyear, Like you let Aaron Rodgers walk,
(05:30):
you thought he was the best,You thought he was his The Packers
were awesome last year. They werea playoff team and won close games.
I'll get to the Packers a littlelater in the show how much I think
they're gonna do well this season. But because of the Packers' success, I
questioned how much Rodgers can really impactthe Jets. The Jets will have an
above five hundred record, the Jetswill be a playoff contender. But that's
my only pause about the Jets intwenty twenty four. Is the correlation to
(05:54):
how good the Packers were. Doyou even factor that in when it comes
to what the Jets can be intwenty twenty four. How successful the Packers
were without Rogers on the roster lastseason. No, you know what,
I I see what the Packers doand it doesn't make me wonder why no
one else really does it? Right, Like like Jordan Love stepped in like
(06:16):
a guy who's been in the leaguefor I don't know, four years,
because he was a guy who's beenin the league for four freaking years,
Like Aaron Rodgers stepped in after Brettfarre like a guy who had been in
the league for four freaking years.Like Mahomes when he took over for Alex
Smith. It was a guy whohad been in the league for a year,
Like you, how do they howdo they just move on with that?
(06:38):
It's the same way every one ofyour favorite businesses either survives or dies
when a chief person leaves, right, Like, oh my god, what
is what's Disney gonna do without BobIger? Well, it turns out the
other dude didn't know what he wasdoing, so they fell on their ass
and had to go get Bob Igerback. But it's like, oh,
well, what Al Davis passes away? Turns out Mark Davis spent his whole
(06:59):
life trying to figure out what hisdad didn't do right and what his dad
did do right. And the Raidershave actually, maybe you haven't seen as
much on the field, yet havegotten better. They are a far more
valuable organization. Every like that.Jordan loves stat behind Aaron Rodgers and went,
oh, I can do that.Oh I can't do that. I
could do this, now I cando that, Like, oh, here's
the awe, I know the offense, Like why is it a shock?
(07:19):
You know what I mean? Andby the way, he wasn't making forty
million dollars a year, so theywere able to use that money to bring
him other pieces, so little lessto like shocked about it than you are.
But no, Aaron Rodgers is aspecial quarterback. He is a leader.
You saw how much better he madethat team when he was present and
(07:40):
how much that team died on thevine when he wasn't there. And I
for the Jets, I think he'lla playoff team. I think, yeah,
I think that's where you're looking at. And once they get their lookout,
you don't want to be one ofthe early matchups because they could come
in if they're healthy, they canplay with anybody if it's you know that
any given Sunday line, it's builtfor a team that's run by Aaron Rodgers
(08:03):
is going to face you in yourhouse. You know. But maybe they
somehow they get Miami in the divisionround or something. Is something this absolutely
I look at this Jets team.I think they have the playoffs ahead of
them. I just again, Idon't want to go all in like I
did last year and then have allof a sudden, you know, Rogers
jump up to celebrate something and popyou know, an ACL like that's that's
(08:24):
so the Jets. The Jets goas far as Rogers will throw them,
and that defense will go. Giantsto the back. Guys, it's Fox
Sports Radio, and don't remind peopleabout the Giants and US right before the
stick. Hold on, okay, hold on rules of this game. You
know, have a take strong opinionwhatever, No freaking idea what the Giants
(08:48):
are. I have no idea whatthe Giants are. I think they have
significantly upgraded their offensive weapons even withoutWaller. I think their wide receiver room
went from I think I heard ofthat guy wants too, like, oh
they got some dudes. They gotsome dudes who can make some noise.
I think, Daniel Jones, it'sanother year of working with Dabel, and
(09:09):
I think Dabel would have thrown himunder the bus completely if he wasn't ready
for him. The defense should playa little better. All of that said,
Daniel Jones can rut on trip again. You know what I mean?
Like this could be the exact samething all over again. Giants right now
are the team. I feel thelike you could come to me, guys
and go, hey, we're aboutto go to the Super Where area New
(09:30):
Orleans this year. We're about togo cover the super Bowl in New Orleans
and the Giants are playing, andI'd be like, wow, man,
good for them, they got itdone. Dabel's a hell of a coach.
Or you can come to me andgo, hey, we're going to
cover the draft and the Giants havethe first pick, and I could be
like, wow, Dable's out.Like I just neither one is gonna make
me like You're gonna blow my mindeven though you feel like you didn't give
a take there. That is exactlywhat I wanted to hear, because this
(09:54):
you could hear me almost nervous toget back into the pool with the Giants
swimming around. If you listen toour season prev last year, this is
the team over the course of thesummer that I changed the most on was
the Giants, because if you thinkabout the twenty twenty two New York Giants,
they were a team that surprised everybodyin the NFL. They got to
the postseason, they won a postseasongame. So if you think back to
(10:16):
the passive NFL teams, if wegave you the formula of a team that
was bad for a while, improvedwith a new head coach, one a
playoff game, the path trajectory, there we go. I think I nailed
that basically would be they would improvethe next season. So I went from
you know what, the Giants willprobably be a playoff team to by the
(10:37):
time we did our final NFL previewshow on Labor Day one of two,
I picked them to go to thesuper Bowl. And I feel bad about
that pick because they were awful lastseason. So, whether it's being selfish,
whether it's being biased, whether itgetting burned right now, find to
project the New York Giants of thetwo scenarios, who just gave me a
potential Super Bowl contender or number oneoverall draft pick. I'm far more likely
(11:01):
to take number one overall draft pick. As of right now, I would
say they're one of the three worstteams going into the twenty twenty four season.
If I give you the three worstteams going into the season, I
would give you the Carolina Panthers, the New England Patriots, and the New
York Giants in no particular order yet, but I would lean towards the Giants
(11:22):
being awful because of you pointed outDarren Waller. You just don't find a
Darren Waller type player walking around.Daniel Jones has had three consent mean you
do right now, That's what he'sdoing. He's just walking around, that's
right. Besides being named Darren WallerLSS, he comes back, Daniel Jones
has had three injuries at three differentbody parts that have ended his season.
(11:43):
So you've got an injury filled careerof a quarterback. You should plague plague
injury prone sa Kuon Barkley's not therethe division and got better. The schedule's
not easy, and you've got alow twenty twenty five quarterback class where you
can potentially target somebody else who JoeShannan Brian Table might actually want no whether
(12:07):
ownership wants that next quarterback or notthat they're the boss. But you've got
a GM and a head coach whonever had the chance to select their own
quarterback. So as of right now, I would put the over under at
five and a half total victories forthe Giants, and I'm leaning more towards
under than over. But don't forgetyour home for New York Giants football is
our sister station picks one oh six. Hold on, let's do what I
(12:31):
like what you just did right there. For the win totals, Jets Vegas
has it at nine and a half. I was gonna say nine and a
half. I will go over, but it's gonna be right to week seventeen
eight week eighteen, and by theway, that will decide it. So
I would feel right like I wouldbuy. I think i'd buy a half
half a game if I could.I don't know if nine gets you in
(12:52):
the postseason though, Well I wasjusta saying, but I think I think
again. You tell me, youtell me they're ten and seven. I'm
like, yeah, okay, they'rein the DAN. They're gonna make noise.
You tell me they're nine and eight. I thought they were pretty good.
I thought they had a chance. They just didn't quite get it done,
all right. So that then theGiants, you said five and a
(13:13):
half, five and a halves thatI put the number at. They won
six games last season. Six anda half is where they've got them this
year. I would take the under. I'd take the over. I just
don't I wouldn't feel great about it. Like if you if you told me
that we were gonna go all thirtytwo teams and we're gonna do five bucks
a team over under, I wouldbe like, can I do one dollar
on the Giants and save four forsomebody else? You know what I mean?
(13:33):
Like, that's that's I think Iwould be at this point, maybe
two just because I want, youknow that, what would I get ninety
cents back or something like that.Yeah, no, I'm gonna go with
that, all right. So we'rekind of on the same page so far.
I think this is where we mightdeviate the Buffalo Beests the Bills.
I think the Bills are gonna runrough shot. I think the Bills are
(13:56):
I think Allen's at that level ofmaturity where he is going to be the
MVP of the league kind of dealor or at least in the conversation for
it all year. I think singletaryfits what they want to do out of
the backfield. I wouldn't mind,I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't mind them
bringing in a veteran wide receiver likea like a just a like a beast
(14:18):
to go with uh Coleman. ButI just I think this Bill's team.
I said single singcretaries with the Giants, he was the Bills. James Cook
is the guy. I think JamesCook has a breakout year. So take
everything I just had throwawayas I don'tknow I'm talking about obviously. But Kean
Coleman I think has a chance tobe very special. Curtis Samuel Mark,
Marcus Valldas Scantley like I like theoffense, Dalton Keith cade And and Dawson
(14:43):
Knox like they've got tight ends. They've got they can they can just be
a physical uh Rex Ryan. Ithink that they are a bully. I
think a bully has been built inBuffalo. But but but bah bah and
I think the Bills are special. This Buffalo Bill roster for four consecutive seasons.
(15:05):
Bill Fank could even put five ifyou want. Has been considered a
super Bowl contender, if not aSuper Bowl favorite. Last year we think
back Buffalo was this sexy pick towin the Super Bowl, to finally get
over the hump. I pointed tothis out about Buffalo last year in this
same spot, I said, theyare going to struggle in late November,
early December. There's gonna be talksto them potentially missing the postseason. Now,
(15:28):
I didn't think al Qaida and SeanMcDermott was on my bingo card of
what would potentially distract the team,But sure enough, if that became the
storyline, Buffalo gets in the postseason. No, remember it should have distracted
him. It rallied the troop.Yes, it really did. And Buffalo
gets in the postseason, they wina postseason game, they get knocked off
by Kansas City again and can't getover the hump. This is it?
(15:52):
Like, this is it for Buffalo. We talked about the windows opening and
closing in the NFL. This isthe final season because if they don't win
the Super Bowl, if they don'twin the division, if they don't get
it done, why aren't the Pagoulashaving a conversation about the future of Sean
McDermott. Why aren't they having aconversation about branded been because they've been really
good and if their excuse is,well, we can't be Patrick Mahomes,
(16:14):
well we can't be Joe Burrow,Well we're the third best. Well,
someone's gonna eventually catch you or youhave to catch them. You just can't
stay stagnant for so many consecutive seasons. Buffalo is a playoff contender again.
This roster doesn't feel as good astwenty two on two and twenty twenty three
because they've had to do a lotof financial moves. Diggs is not there.
There is a lot of pressure onkeyon Coleman to step up and make
(16:34):
the offense better. And I thinkwe have to concede this point about Buffalo.
We did this conversation about the Jetsa few minutes ago. Somebody benefited
from Aaron Rodgers getting hurt. Youcan make the case it was the Bills,
because the Bill and the Dolphins,of course, like the Bills won
the AFC East, but both ofthose teams, obviously because of their division,
benefited from the Jets not having Rodgers. How much will it play a
(16:59):
difference for both my me and Buffalo. With what we presume to be a
healthieron Rodgers, Buffalo will be againfighting for a playoff berth. But this
is it. I don't feel asgood about Buffalo as they did last season,
and you're in the opposite direction. You feel better about them in twenty
twenty four than you did in twentytwenty three. We do four o'clock.
We're into the four Bowl takes.Yes, I will. I will tell
(17:21):
you why that what you just saidabout the Chiefs won't be a problem during
That's that's that's That's what I'll tellyou, all right. So there there
is three New York teams. Weboth agree. Jets are flirting with the
playoffs. Probably a playoff team ifeverybody stays healthy. Giants were. I'm
I wouldn't be super shocked if theyput it all together and played really well.
(17:42):
Wouldn't be super shocked to fall apart. Gazes lean towards fall apart.
Bill's gaz is leaning towards playoffs.I'm leaning towards dominance, and we'll see
where that all goes. There isthe a of the New York teams preview.
We get the AFC East preview comingup. Yes, East Preview coming
up. But before we do that, Levac, let's talk about our friends
(18:03):
over at Mohawks Chevrolet. Oh,I thought you'd never asked. I mean,
football and Chevrolet. You just gotogether, man, they just belong
together, big old tailgate party onthe back of Scar Joe. Huh do
that a football game? How muchwould you love that? If it's trying
like it's always truck season to me, I know it's like I think it's
officially like October they tell about truckmonth. But like for me, I
think about how great it would beto, you know, back up into
(18:25):
the spot, grab the spot nextto you, pull the seats out,
put the grill out, have agood time. You got your Silverado,
you did it. I also thinkit'd be great top in a Matlavu and
get great gas knowledge and a verycomfortable car full of technology on our way
to go check out a Giants ora Jets or a Bills game. Basically,
what I'm telling you is, ifyou don't look at your vehicle and
go, man, I'd love totailgate. I'd love to go see a
(18:47):
football game. I'd love to dothis in that you need to get over
to Mohawk Chevrolet and get the vehicleyou really want. Not only do they
have an amazing selection of everything witha bow tie on the grill, you
know what I'm talking about, everyevery Chevy, Tahoe, all that stuff.
They've also got car Bravo, soeverything you're possibly looking for. If
you're like, you know, Ijust really want a convertible. I really
wanted this. I wanted that.Go to Carbravo dot com, pick it
(19:08):
out, and you get it rightthrough Mohawks Chevrolet. Together, let's drive
at Mohawks Chevrolet just off actually twelveof the North Way malk Chevy where they
always go out of their way toplease you. It's Levac and guys on
ninety five nine Fox Sports Radio.Oh, great job with the football music
this year, guys, great job. Really feel like I'm out of game.
(19:30):
Like you couldn't just break out aJock Jam CD from the the closet
of prizes that were never picked uphere at the iHeartRadio ranch. You couldn't
do that. You suck NFL primetime to send us nothing. Ah,
generic music. We've used all yourlaw Wait you here, you the Fox,
like the Fox. You couldn't evenget that the shout. You know
(19:55):
what you are? You're the Patriots. You suck, you suck. You
know you know what you're the Patriots. This is why you're the Patriots.
Guys. You walked into this season, you walked into this show. You
said we gotta make changes, andthen you made almost no changes. You
got rid of Belichick, but yougave me a head coach who yeah,
(20:15):
oh no, he's black and he'syoung. He's not an old white dude,
but he's worked his entire professional careerfor Bill Belichick. What did you
do? You resigned like eight ofyour players for a team that sucked.
What did you do? No music? Nobody stopped this being from coming through
the wall. It's it's it's coming. It's gonna happen. You just you
(20:37):
just went no, no, it'sdifferent. It's like new coke. You're
gonna love it. We put newon the label like you did nothing different,
And you want me to believe you'regonna be good this year? You're
the Patriots. I replaced the greatand Doug Gottlieb. All right, that's
that's a start. That's a start. If you hadn't guessed I for the
AFC East. As we preview theI have zero faith in the New England
(21:03):
Patriots this year. I think thatthey're going to suck. I think they
are going to be very, verybad. I'll also point out to you
that I didn't have you do thewin total for the Bills a little while
ago, because we're gonna do ithere. But as I look at the
Patriots and I see that Vegas hasthem over under, you want to guess
(21:29):
over under for an eighteen Okay,so if this was seventeen games, I'd
probably put them at three and ahalf. But it's the Patriot five,
five, four and a half, and I say under under. We're finally
going back to pre Brady. We'regoing back to when the Patriots sucks so
bad the announcer had to like shufflethrough cards and go, did you know
(21:55):
that number forty two as a blackbelt in karate? Because the game games
over in the third quarter. Forthe Patriots to be a contender in the
AFC is that would be the biggestshocker the twenty twenty four season. Now,
a lot of this happens because theDolphins, the Gents, the Bills
are all really good. They haveall gone all in post Brady to think
(22:17):
this is their moment to win.So if you want to be a super
optimistic Patriot fan, that's how youcan spin that story of like, no,
we lost Brady, we went onan all time great dynasty. That's
why we stink. This is justhow pro sports goes. I want more
truth, though. I want somebodyin like October to come out and say
Belichick ruined us. Did you seehis drafts? Do you see how he
did a roster? This is oneof the biggest cleanup messes in sports.
(22:40):
No, it's not. Where's hecoaching? No one else wanted this mess,
So Belichick is too blame here alittle bit. You mentioned the contracts
very odd. We're just gonna takethe ones we think that Belichick got right
and will sign them right now.Who's going after him? This is a
terrible roster. So you have zerofaith in the Patriots. I have one
percent faith in that they because ofthis reason. As we sit here in
(23:02):
the summer, hopefully by the timeyou and I head over to the River's
Casino and Resorts stand up. That'show much I hate the Patriots. Things
can change between now and week oneof the NFL season. When it comes
to wichay with the Patriots, youspell week different. You put the A
in there instead of the E.There's only one thing I like about the
Patriots this season, and that's thatWeek one spread against the Bengals. Ask
(23:25):
of right now, that's my favoriteplay in the season. Because Lavac's heard
this before, and if you listento the Van guys, you know my
favorite play of any game of allseason long is to tank the team that
everyone thinks gonna suck in the NFLseason and take them to cover a Week
one. You'd be stunned how oftenthat I believe it's now five consecutive Week
ones, or the team that everyonethought it's the Jags, it's the Texans.
(23:48):
It was the Bears beating the Ninersoutright, it was the Cardinals last
season. There's your four. ThePatriots will cover against the Bengals in Week
one. After that, they cango one in sixteen. Hell, they
can go oh and seven team aslong as they cover that Week one matchup.
All right, So we agree patsuck, all right, So I'm
gonna go. I'm gonna I'm gonnago through the division backwards. Right.
I would also think the under sofourth Patriots. Here's where I got a
(24:11):
problem two and three. I thinkthey're pretty much interchangeable. I think they're
pretty much I believe that you willget three playoff teams out of the AFC
East because I think there's two reallygood middle of the road teams who are
gonna better than they were last year. I believe that I'll start with the
(24:32):
Miami Dolphins as one of the teams. So team to B is the Miami
Dolphins. I think the Miami Dolphinsare going to continue to be what they
were to a degree last year. They're gonna have an innovative special offense.
They're gonna play pretty good defense. The second one of those key cogs gets
hurt, they're gonna be in trouble. I think that they're a very good
(24:55):
team. And again, if you'regoing if you're playing fantasy football, if
it's you've got a fishy on theside of its helmet, you want it.
If you're trying to get to thesuper Bowl, They're gonna be a
fun ride. The're gonna be flashy, You're gonna be able to get some
good numbers late. But I don'tthink they make it. Wait the Dolphins
and who of the Jets. Ididn't say the other one yet we're breaking
(25:15):
out team by team. Okay, well, to be continued, Ah,
I might jump the gun on youbecause for the second consecutive time here you
and I seem to be on thesame page, and I will take it
a step further. I also feellike teams two and Team three are a
toss up if you think back totwenty twenty three, and I keep referencing
that because this is the AFC's anda lot of the storylines for twenty twenty
(25:37):
three are repeating themselves in twenty twentyfour. If you remember, the Bills
and Dolphins played in the final gameof the regular season last year to determine
who was gonna be the division champion, and we both check the tape.
I believe we both called that onlast year's season preview, and I bring
that up for this point. Onthe final game of the season this year,
(25:59):
we can't January fifth on a Sunday, It's gonna happen again. The
Dolphins play the Jets, and thewinner of that game will go to the
postseason. The loser of that gamewill miss the postseason. It'll be that
because I don't believe the division titlewill be in play because of how these
schedules play out, one of thosetwo teams will finish, excuse me,
(26:22):
two of those teams. To myprojections, we'll finish with ten victories and
that'll be enough tiebreaker wise to getone of them in. The other one
will miss. And as of rightnow, I will take the Jets as
team number two in the AFCAS.They beat the Dolphins in the regular season
finale. They both finish with tenwins, but the Dolphins lose out on
the tiebreaker. The Dolphins finished inthird. Both teams would go ten and
(26:44):
seven, but the Jets enough toget over the hump. At the end
they are both nine and a halftotals, so you have over for both.
But barely. I'm with you.I just I do think that I
think the Dolphins get in. Ithink there's two teams coming wildcard style from
the afcason, at least at leastnow when I'm looking at it. We
gotta break down the other ones.Who knows I can end up with twelve
wild card teams and then all ofa sudden, I'll you know, see
(27:07):
it's the way too early. Ican flesh this out. I have time,
Okay, I have time. Youcan't force me to do nothing,
But one thing you can't stop mefrom doing is telling you that the Buffalo
Bills are legit. Ten and ahalf is the total for the Bills,
guys, I say over, Ithink they're a twelve win team, maybe
more. I think I have peoplelook at their schedule like piece by piece.
(27:27):
But I just I feel like theBills have got it together this year,
and I think the Bills are gonnado some special on the football field.
I would lean towards for the thirdconsecutive time here going over barely.
Eleven seems like the right number therefor Buffalo. And if I'm gonna give
you two teams with ten victories attwo and three, all they needs eleven
and they go to the postseason. So I will take the Bills to win
(27:49):
the division. They might have itin hand before the clock strikes twenty twenty
five because of the scenarios that havelaid out here. So Buffalo Bills fans
can rest a little bit now.Even though they're gonna have eleven victories,
that should not give them enough tohave the overall number one seat in the
AFC. I won't go that faryet, but eleven will be the number.
(28:11):
I have the bills winning the AMCEast as well. Yeah, I
just I think they're again. Ilook at last year and you brought this
up in the last segment. Therewas clearly a subterfuge there was. There
was a dark room meeting someone Ithink probably Stefan Diggs and his people thought
(28:36):
they could get rid of McDermott withthat al Qaida story. You know,
guy comes in and listen. Youknow, coaches are weird, you know
what I mean? Like you, they like, they'll tell you a story
and you if if it doesn't landthe way they wanted it to land,
you might think they're crazy. Butsomebody else might hear and be like,
(28:56):
no, you didn't understand what you'resaying. He tells you about the motivation
and the blah blah blah and thisdid he did he pick the wrong people?
Yeah? Probably probably not the bestway to go about it, but
they thought it was gonna end him. Whoever put that story out there,
years later they sat on this,or they told somebody who was a little
(29:18):
more manipulative than themselves. After allthis years later and instead of it killing
him. They went on a winningstreak. The locker room galvanized the Polari.
It made them rally around him andeach other. So he's I don't
think he's done there yet, AndI think as good as Stefan Diggs is,
(29:40):
it's addition by subtraction because it's onelass voice going against him in the
in the in the room. Theyneeded digs for Josh Allen to realize how
good Josh Allen is. He knowsnow he's got a good wide receiver room.
It's not great. There's no there'sno unless Kena Coleman becomes number one
or Curtis Samuel takes that next step, which he could. They don't have
a Digs, but they have aDawson Knox and they have a Dulton Kincaid.
(30:03):
I think you're gonna see a lotof these teams with these these offensive
tight ends, are gonna try andreplicate what the Patriots did, what other
teams have done with the tight endposition. So I like what the Bills
are doing. I like where theBills are headed. I like them so
much that like it pains me Ican't even do my Homer Raiders win the
(30:23):
AFC pick because I don't. Idon't think the Raiders of as I wherever
you put them, wherever you putwhoever. Tell me how they beat Buffalo,
tell me why they're better than Buffalo. Buffalo is the measuring stick for
me for the AFC this year.Keon Coleman and the pressure he's gonna be
under seems like he doesn't care though, like the attitude the if I have
(30:44):
a great season, awesome. IfI don't have the expectations to hit I
don't think anyone expects me to beDigs, but the pressure's on me to
Bean Digs. There's more pressure onJosh Allen and McDermott and Bean than me.
I'm just gonna go out and play, which is what you want rookies
to do. They're gonna make mistakes, but you just want to go out
there and be the best athlete theycan be and try to find their groove
and niche and what can help theoffense move the ball. The best Bills
(31:07):
fans, we don't have to saythis, but it needs to be said
for those who don't follow the Billsas much. Everyone knows what the number
one goal is for Buffalo before theSuper Bowl, before New Orleans. It's
to get by Kansas City or Cincinnati. Once you get by one of those
two teams, then all of asudden, our fans, whether it's the
(31:27):
Capitol Region, Western New York,Central New York, whoever's listened to the
side of the podcast, Once oneof those things happens, then you can
text us and say, where areyou guys staying in New Orleans. They
get over that hump. First beatCincy, beat Kansas City. Then you
could talk super Bowl hasn't happened yet, and you might be the season better,
how the postseason lays out for youand I, eh, we will
(31:49):
We will see, but we bothwere both pretty pretty similar the way we're
looking at this one yet again, which makes for amazing sports talk radio.
But you are probably listening and thinking, I need to tweak to them.
So it's at Tom, guys, tomgozz at the Jeff Levac the If you
don't want to spell that, that'syour problem. JEF J E F F
L E V A C K allone word and you know, fire off.
(32:12):
Let me know what you think I'myou know, I'll be pull side
shortly, so I don't you know, I'd probably be drinking when I actually
reply to you. But whatever, you know, whatever, So there it
is. Bills take down the AFCEast. Before we talk to you about
the AFC North, let's talk toyou about yous X pass Control. Yeah,
if you're listening to the podcast Sidelovac, which we hope you are,
and you are maybe lounging around, maybe enjoying some drinks here in the summer,
(32:35):
listening to this on demand wherever youwant, maybe on your vacation road
trip, make sure your home issafe. Get that free inspection done thanks
to our friends at USX pass Control. You and I know from experienced Lovak
or both members of the Platinum Package. Yeah, so what happens is you
get the inspection, right, theycome out, they look over the house,
They kind of they take the timeto explain to you what you're looking
at. So it's not like it'snot like this is what you need.
Here's a bill, it's here's wherethere's an issue, Here's where they're used
(33:00):
to be, Here's where there couldbe, Here's what I recommend, here's
let's let's come up with a strategyand let's protect your house. I love
it. I have the Non ChemicalExclusion Package they went around, they sealed
everything up. It's funny because whenI had it done the first time,
it was called cat guarding because USXand KATSI both parts of the Gangne family
of brands. Well, the guyswho came through this time were like,
(33:21):
man, this is whoever did thisdid a great job. Like it's funny
because it was you. And thenthe platinum package to keep everything safe,
keep the mosquitoes, ticks, everythingelse out of your yard, out of
your life. You don't need it. Had a situation where they're renovating the
house across the street foun out theirreturn bites called USX said, hey,
listen, I got I got thisgoing on. They're like they swum by
(33:42):
and took a look. They're like, you know, way too much paid
between you and then to worry aboutit. However, they sprayed some stuff.
I was like, all right, let's roll. I felt good.
I felt better about it. Youcan too, get your free inspection schedule
today at usxpest dot com and youcan feel as good about it as guys
and I do. The AFC Northcome up next right here. Fox Sports
Radio ninety five nine and nine eightyit's Lovack and guys on the Voice of
(34:06):
the Capitol Regions Sports Fan Fox Sportsninety five, nine and nine eighty.
It is the special NFL Way TooEarly preview show with Levac guys right here
in the GT Toys too, that'stoys with a Z. And I feel
like this is the division that noone's going to agree with me on.
(34:29):
Oh and for that reason, haha. I love being right. I'm glad
you all suck and you're wrong. You said you feel strongest about this division.
I'm sorry I almost interrupt you therebecause I'm like, man, I
feel so good about the AFC North, and I'm like I after the AFC
East conversation in the New York conversation, like, there's no way Levac and
I are going to think the sameway again here in the North about this
(34:50):
division. Of all the divisions. And I know where time stamped for your
listening pleasure. This might be theone that people go back and be like,
what in the world are you thinking? But hear me out about the
North and what could go down inthis division, which I would say when
we look back in twenty twenty three, this was the best division in football.
I think half of it. Ooh, I mean, I felt like
(35:10):
at one point in December, atleast early December, there was a conversation
all four of these teams could havebeen postseason teams, and we did get
two teams in the postseason, theBrowns and the Ravens. All right,
wait, let's do this. Youcounted down who's fourth for you in the
AFC North The Cincinnati Bengals. Youhad them as fourth. The Bengals for
me are going to be the biggestbust of the twenty twenty four regular season.
(35:36):
Here's my take on the Bengals. This division is stacked, and I
know Cincinnati for a lot of peoplefeel like the Super Bowl team in twenty
twenty four with a healthy Joe Burrow. But you started looking at some of
these games on the schedule. KansasCity's a tough matchup, Baltimore, Cleveland
twice, Philly, the Chargers onthe road, Dallas, and then Denver
(36:00):
and Pittsburgh potentially fighting for those playoffspots. I don't like anything for the
Bengals. They lost Joe Mixon. You're in a tough North division. Is
Zach Taylor really that good of ahead coach? The Bengals for me are
the biggest bust of any team withhigh expectations. If you told me to
take two wagers for the over understhis season right now, because of the
(36:23):
lack of potential running and maybe aless than offensive line, I would take
the Bengals under. Is one ofmy two favorite plays for win totals this
season. I have them in lastplace, all right, So the Bengals
win total, can I guess?Yeah? Go ahead? Nine and a
half, ten and a half under? Okay, all right, I don't
(36:43):
know if you can see it.You can't see it from here. So
my notes Bengals overrated. Joe Burrowequals Dan Marino. WHOA. I think
Joe Burrow is gonna do great thingsfor your fantasy team. I think he
has seen his Super Bowl trip andhe has done I think the Bengals are
over it. The only difference betweenyou and I when it comes to the
(37:05):
Bengals is I don't have them fourth. I have them third. I think
there's a team that will flop evenharder. But I am I'm shocked that
I'm with you on that. Ithought for sure you were gonna be all
over Joe Burrow. It was ita week ago, but We're sitting here
and he's out there in Paris runningaround without a back on his suit,
and I'm like, what's going on, buddy? Like that's probably the equivalent
(37:27):
of how people felt when they sawa name it wearing pantyhose. I I
just I do I think that.I think they had a great run.
I think they They've got a tonof talent, but I think they're in
a wood chipper of a division andI don't know if they're tough enough to
get through it. And listen, the guy who may have been your best
(37:49):
head coach in the last however manyyears is now the assistant head coach for
the Raiders, Marv Lewis, Like, I just I think that. Yeah,
I'm not seeing it. I'm not. I don't. Wow. I'm
sure we agree. I'm shocked. So wait, so I assume your third
team is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Itis the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here's the situation
with Pittsburgh. I've done these showswith you for so often. I believe
it's our fifth year doing this fun, having this content out here in the
(38:12):
summer. Every single season, Ibite on this, and I've taught myself
a lesson how many years in arow am I gonna underrate the Steelers?
I do this every year. Ilook at the seal of the roster and
say it's not as good as everybodyelse. They don't have the talent.
Their draft was a little less flatterythan everybody else. They're gonna stink this
season. I've learned my lesson.Every year Pittsburgh's in contention. Every year
(38:34):
they find a way, like Tomlingot a new contract extension. The defense
led by Watt is always good. They find ways to get better every single
season. And as odd as itfeels like, because this is far more
if a college and even a highschool take than it is an NFL take,
the quarterback battle between Russell Wilson andJustin Fields will help the team more
than hurt the team. Because ifRussell Wilson's the guy week one, and
(38:55):
that's predicted to be the case,he's gonna be better than he wants in
Denver, but not that much better. But every time he starts to slip
up, Justin Field's gonna be rightthere. And if Justin Fields takes over
the offense, whether it be becauseof injury or because he's not playing well,
Wilson. This team is gonna click. So I have Pittsburgh in about
nine wins this season, which isn'tgood enough to get him in the postseason.
(39:16):
But this is gonna be a classicSteeler team that looks good beats teams
are not supposed to, and bythe time mid December rolls around, they're
gonna be I love this. Ilove this expression on the graphic. You
know what happens on Sunday nights inSunday Football in America where they flash the
playoffs scenarios. Pittsburgh will be onthe graphic all season long for a playoff
(39:37):
spot, but they won't make it. What's my saying that you love about
trading bad players? So about garbage? You're swapping garbage. That's the quarterback
battle for the Pittsburgh Steelers this year. Russell Wilson is done justin Fields is
it never will be. They're gonnashuffle trash all season long. All season
long, They're gonna be like, all right, but now Fields gets it
(40:00):
and then he's gonna go in.He's gonna throw six interceptions. But Russell
Wilson has got to figure it out. Wilson's gonna run in he's gonna suck.
Kyle Allen is gonna play a gamethis year. That's what I believe.
Their third string quarterback will play agame this year. I think they
are. I just I don't seeit. I don't see it. I
(40:21):
mean, the defense will be verygood. Patrick Queen's a monster. That's
the only thing that scares me sayingthis is you have now done that three
level jobber, right, so you'reon your defensive front. You got t
J. Watt, he's an allpro linebacker. Level, You've got Patrick
Queen, he's an All Pro.Have you seen the as you would say,
(40:44):
tweef between Patrick Queen and all thecurrent Ravens, Like Patrick Queen has
been talking about how much this isthe best organizations is better, this is
this, and everybody say grass isgreener. So Patrick Queen goes out,
there's a video of him watering theon is sometimes the grass is greener and
starts talking smack them. They Thebest part about the Steelers this year is
(41:06):
that the rivalry with the Ravens isgonna be is gonna be fierce. Joey
Porter Junior at that next level withMike Fitzpatrick, that defense is is special.
I don't want to say anything waywith the defense. The offense is
trash. The offensive trash. They'retrash. I think they are. They
are worse. In my opinion. They will not be a five hundred team
this year, and I know youcan't truly be a five hundred team.
(41:27):
They will be an eight maybe sevenwin team. If they're lucky, it
might be lower than that. Ithink. I think that that offense,
those two quarterbacks, Russell Wilson isdone. He's burnt. Every report I've
seen is justin fields from practice. He doesn't throw where the where the receiver
is going to be. He throwswhere he is. And if that's how
you play, you know who's gonnabe in that spot by the time the
(41:50):
ball gets there. The defensive backfor their team. So I get the
uh, you guess the total forthe for the Steelers for over under Winstal,
I'd go nine and a half, they go eight and a half.
I go under. If you look, I believe it's see where is it?
Oh, Sophie MGM has got himat seven and a half. If
you're going eight and a half underon Pittsburgh, you're putting Cincinnati like with
(42:15):
the same record or potentially one winlower one above them. I have no
I have. I'm Bengals are thirdfor me, oh, thank you,
thank you. Steelers are four.Okay, that's the only difference between you
and I so far. So yournumber two team in the AFC North,
this number two team will be thenumber two see I would say number two
set because that math won't work outthat way. The second best team in
(42:36):
the AFC North will have about elevenvictories. And this is I think my
biggest shocker so far in the NFLpreview. It's the Baltimore Ravens, the
team that many considered throughout the twentytwenty three season to be the team to
beat the Super Bowl champions favorites. We talked about Lamar Jackson, the defending
MVP. Coming back to this season, I have the Ravens as the second
(42:58):
best team and potentially and I don'tsee it playing out this way. But
if you are a fan of theother team that you just figured out,
who's in first place? For me, the raven title, in similar fashion
of the AFC East, could comedown to the final game of the season.
Like last year we saw the ACEast Ravens play the Browns in the
week eighteen. I don't think it'sgonna matter. Baltimore's going to the postseason,
(43:20):
but they won't even have a chanceto win the North. In Week
eighteen, Ravens as the number twoteam in the division. Who all right,
let's see, let's let's differ again. Number two for me is the
Browns, and it's not by alot, but in Browns too. It's
funny. Kevin Stefanski does a hellof a job with this team. I
think Deshaun Watson finally plays and playswell. I don't know what the future
(43:45):
of Nick Chubb is, but withJerome Ford and Donza Foreman, the Nahem
Heines will be back. Amari Cooper'shaving some contract issues, That's why I'm
worried about him. Jerry Judy overthere getting getting paid. Elijah More this
is a very, very good,This is extreme ringly talented team. I
didn't even talk about the defense yet. I don't know if you heard the
Zadarius Smith kind of good. MilesGarrett maybe the best player on the defense
(44:07):
on any defense. Devin Bush anotherbeast. A lot of these a linebacker
swapping going on around these AFC Northteams. I'm just just want to point
that out to everybody. But Ireally really liked the Browns. I did
flirt with making them the top team, but I did that last year and
they made me pay for it fora little bit before they finally figured their
(44:29):
stuff out. I think they're thesecond best team in the AFC North.
One thing to add about the twentytwenty three Cleveland Browns. I called them
the barn team of last season. And what I mean by that horse racing
fans, I mean like when youwatch a horse race and all of a
sudden, the line changes right beforethe start. We're the barn money people
knew about that horse. It wasa lot of fun last year. As
we got into mid to late August, all of a sudden, the national
(44:52):
talking heads are like, you knowwho I like Cleveland this season? Well,
well, what we had all summer. You waited to the last moment
to say you like Cleveland in thisshoe. Last year, Levac, you
liked the Browns, and I rememberyou saying that like that was your sleeper
NFL team, And I believe youbacked off at the end that you pulled
out where it's like Cleveland, youknow, I want to jump the gun
I'm gonna talk about Cleveland here becauseI love Cleveland. I have Cleveland right
(45:15):
now as the number one seed inthe AFS. They're gonna have the number
one the best record of DTAM inthe AMC. So let's let's break down
the twenty twenty three Cleveland Browns herefor a second. So they got to
the postseason with a fourth string quarterbackin Joe Flecko who wasn't even on the
roster, who won comeback Player ofthe Year. They had the best defensive
(45:36):
player in the NFL last year,Miles Garrett. They had the coach of
the Year, although he tied forthe award in Kevin Stefanski. So you're
telling me, hang on, Igot the coach of the year, I
got the best defensive player of theyear. I got to the postseason with
a fourth string quarterback and really athird string running back, and they won
eleven games. I get Nick Chubbback, I get DeShawn Watson back.
(46:01):
Look at their schedule. I couldn'tbelieve this doing this. NFL preefy today.
There's a scenario for the Cleveland Brownswhere they're gonna enter Week thirteen,
should be finish Week thirteen and beeleven and one. Their schedule, they
can beat everybody. They've got astretch where they go. Dallas is a
tough game week one, but Iwould take Stefanski over McCarthy coaching wise.
(46:23):
Week one. McCarthy actually may notbe there. He may not even be
there. So you've got dab.I'm gonna run quick as second Dallas,
Jacksonville, Giants, Raiders, Commanders, Eagles, Bengals, Ravens, Chargers,
Bye Week, Saints, Steelers,Broncos. I flew through that,
but they're gonna be favored in alot of those games. Cleveland might have
(46:44):
double digit wins by mid November beforeThanksgiving. The schedule plays in their factor.
And I believe if their name wasn'tthe Cleveland Browns, they would be
the super Bowl favorite. If yougave me a fourth string cornerback and a
third string running back and the coachof the year, you wouldn't take the
win the super Bowl. Because they'reCleveland. They're getting a little bit underappreciated.
(47:04):
I love Cleveland in twenty twenty four. Okay, so the reason that
I fall short of of your loveaffair with Cleveland is kind of like what
you were saying about the Steelers justto a different level. How many times
do the Ravens just have to bethe best coached, best team, just
dominant during the regular season before wejust say, Okay, they're gonna win
(47:28):
the AFC North. They're just gonnawin it. Just give them the AFC
North. Everybody else can find itout for wildcard spots and everything else.
Lamar Jackson is filthy. He's he'she Arguably it's probably between him, Miles
Garrett, TJ. Watt and whatJamar chase for. Who's the best player
in the AFC North. You gotDereck Henry. Now with Justice Hill,
(47:50):
Keaton Mitchell will be back. Thatbackfield's gonna be filthy. Zay Flowers is
legit, Rashad Bateman is getting closerto breaking out. They've got all the
Mark Andrews was not health. TheIsaiah likely stepped up. Now you got
two tight ends that you can goout there and go to war with.
Oh and by the way, everyyear, the defense are just players.
They're just playing players. Ro QuandSmith has made a huge defense difference in
(48:10):
that defense. I believe the Ravenswill be the number one team in the
NFC North and again. They willdominate till the postseason. Then they'll go
back to being you know, they'llgo Clark Kent on it. All right,
So let's start with your all right, so your number one pick is
the Cleveland Browns. What do yougot Vegas? What do you think Vegas
has for the win total? Thisis my third favorite play. So I
(48:32):
like the Bengals under a team inthe NFC, I like for an over.
I would guess probably nine and ahalf, eight and a half.
So you definitely like the over.Oh yeah, you know what. That's
moved up to number one. Ithought, no, no, no,
the Browns over is my new favoriteplay. I love that, I might
hamber. I want more. Iwant ten and a half. I want
eleven and a half. Love theover. Ravens. What you got?
(48:54):
You know what? They were thebest team in the NFL record wise last
year. I'll put it a elevenand a half, the highest ten and
a half, ten and a halffor them, I would take the over.
They have the Bengals and the Ravensat ten and a half. They
have the Browns and the Steelers bothat eight and a half. There's some
parody in this division, Like Isaid the least swap linebackers like freaky couple
(49:15):
swap wives. That's what they doin the AFC North. It's a freaky
place. It's weird, but Ijust kind of feel the same way.
There's two tiers there. We justflip who we like in each tier a
little bit more. But for meagain, I am gonna go ahead.
I'm gonna go Ravens, Browns,Steelers. I'm sorry, Ravens, Brown's,
(49:37):
Bengals, Steelers and I've got Browns, Ravens, Steelers, Bengals there.
It is the way too early breakdownof the AFC North. I don't
think there'll be a lot of ringscoming out of that conversation, Sarah.
Although I have fallen in love withCleveland, I might have to give somebody
(49:57):
some type of love over the ClevelandBrowns. Lillian David Fine Jewelers can help
you find that love in your life. Oh, it's so nice. Whether
it's the engagement ring, whether it'sthe wedding band. Maybe you're popping the
question here on July fourth, thisweekend, maybe this summer. Whenever you're
listening to us, we hope maybeyou're celebrating an engagement. Get ready for
the wedding with that two for onewedding band sale always going on, or
maybe you're celebrating that summer anniversary.Get her something nice to celebrate your anniversary,
(50:21):
Lilian, David Fine Jelers can helpyou. The shops at Wilton family
owned and operated business. I'n overexperience. My proposal was in July.
Loved it. Did it on thebeach. She said yes, didn't go
the way planned. But you didn'twant to say yes. No, no,
no, no no, I justwhat I met. That's not what
I met. I wanted her tosay yes. It just didn't go the
way planned. Lily and David FineJewelers will help you no matter when you're
(50:43):
listening. Love is always in theair. Go out and support them.
I love those people over there, just like I love my wife, Lillian
David find Jews. All right,So lo back, So our number two
is about to get on your wayhere. These are our top four bold
takes for the twenty twenty four season, whether it's the post, whether it's
a player, coach, fantasy Pope, playoffs, retirements. Our top four
(51:06):
bold takes for the twenty twenty fourNFL season in our way too early NFL
season preview show here on Fox Sportsninety five to nine and nine eighty.
It's time for the Top four fourwith Levac and guyz Woor. In place
of the Four Biggest Stories, whichis brought to you by Mohawk Conda every
(51:27):
weekday, at this time, weare bringing you our four bold predictions.
Dare I say dark horse predictions?Dare I say crazy thoughts that we have
which mine generally have been hitting.By the way, last year, I
told you eight and O'Connell would startwith the Raiders. Okay, and it
happened. All right, I'm goodat this, guys. Can we go
back and see I think I was, like I think I was seventy five
percent. Last year, you hadsome that absolutely hit the eight o'connall one
(51:51):
stands out above all of them, including my picks. I wanted to call
these our four hot takes, butI had a feeling you would want to
do that segment. If I callthem hot takes, well that's say hot.
I mean they're gonna be hot allyear. Slowly cool off is close,
close, all right before boldest takes. Now you can do this.
How are you want the back youjust give us four straight. You can
go from least bold to most bold, at least to most Do you want
(52:14):
to do yours? Do you wantto go with your least bold first?
What I what I deem my leastbowld? I didn't make an order.
You know what, if you're goingleast bowl the most bold, I'll re
I'll let you go first as Ireorganized mine. Then how about that?
All right? I'm actually gonna flipthis one up to the see a little
bit here. Uh. The leastbold, in my opinion of my four
(52:37):
is the Buffalo Bills will win theAFC East and at least play in the
AFC Championship Game. They will atleast be a top two team in the
AFC. They'll be a final fourteam this year, at least Final four
for the Buffalo Bills. Okay, and the least Final four for the Buffalo
(53:00):
Bills. This is the fun partabout what happens in these NFL preview shows
you and I want it is loudand is not talked about. We'll have
a little bit of a hint nowas we go closer to Labor Day about
what we thought about back in July. My fourth one was also about the
Buffalo Bills. My bold take forthe NFL season, Josh Allen wins his
(53:22):
first NFL MVP. We've seen fatiguefor voters be a real thing. There
were a lot of people who didn'twant to vote Lamar Jackson when he got
the week sixteen weeks, something like, oh, do we have to give
it to him? Doesn't he alreadyhave one? What about Mahomes? Can't
we give it to him? Can'twe find somebody else to vote? That's
a real thing that will happen inthe media. But because both you and
(53:44):
I believe Buffalo is gonna be reallygood and Josh Allen statistically can be really
another standouts season, fantasy football playersknow that. And you know what,
I'll add that in Josh Allen againto a lead fantasy football scoring players in
points this season. So MVP numberone to ash Haalen at the end of
the season. All right, okay, I'm all right now, So here's
I like you did that for tworeasons. Plays off my Bills leads into
(54:07):
this one. Trevor Lawrence will bea top three candidate for the MVP in
the NFL Top three, I'm notbowled enough to say number one I was
gonna stay a top candidate. Iwas like, I gotta I gotta quantify
it a little bit so you couldstill be right, and so could I.
Trevor Lawrence be right there with him. I think Trevor Lawrence rewards Jacksonville
(54:30):
for two things, the money andkeeping Doug Peterson around. Doug Peterson helps
him get better. He's got alot of weapons. I think Trevor Lawrence
goes from Sunshine from Remember the Titansto an actual NFL quarterback. They have
a finalist show. Now it's thatshow right before. I think it's NFL
(54:52):
Honors. So if he actually isin the top three, I guess we
can call it like Trevor Lawrence getsinvited to NFL Honors, he is a
finalist. He's a top three votegetter for the NFL MVP. There was
some talk back in what late Octoberearly November of last season where Lawrence,
because of how good the Jaguars wereplaying, that maybe it was gonna be
as soon as last season he'd bein that mix. Trevor Lawrence can find
(55:14):
himself in that conversation if he stopsturning over the football, stop turning over
the football and you're in that conversation. I know I just said, no,
I say that after you're saying JoshAllen will win the MVP, as
I saying. We just need tome the conversation for me to be right
on this one. My third takehere in our top four bold takes,
or excuse me, my second oneis Bill Belichick remains out of the NFL.
(55:38):
When we start seeing coaches get cannedaround Week seventeen, more so Week
eighteen, that first Black Monday foundloon. In the regular season, the
name Bill Belichick will be talked aboutwith potential franchises. But this isn't a
take a year off and come back. Belichick actually enjoys doing media. He
has fun with Pat McAfee. Hehas fun dating a twenty four five he
(56:00):
lives with. By the way, they're female, not Pat McAfee. Yes,
both Thunderdome. Belichick does not getanother opportunity in the NFL. He'll
try to play like he doesn't wantit. Nobody's interested. If they wanted
him, they would have got him. Last season. Bill Belichick's Hall of
Fame career actually ended at the endof last season. I think I don't
(56:22):
think he's I don't think he's backthis year, but I don't think he's
done. I don't especially listen ifthings don't go well for the Giants this
one. God's gonna hate this onethe most. There used to be the
old saying, if you have twoqbs, I mean you don't have one,
you know you don't. Tampa Baydoesn't have one. Atlanta has two.
(56:43):
I believe the QB tandement Atlanta actuallyworks. Kirk Cousins, Michael Pennix
Junior, between the two of themwith injuries and whatever it is and primetime
games. So Pennick Junior worried aboutinjuries, Kirk Cousins, you worried about
primetime games. I think between thetwo of them, Atlanta actually makes it
work. Probably wins the South,so it works. They win the South
(57:07):
because of their quarterback, tan Ineed I need a little clarification here.
By quarterback, Tanem, you meanthat Pennix and Cousins are both going to
play. So this is going tobe like Pennix comes in in situational second
and third or split the season,or Cousins is like eight games then gets
benched. What do you mean?Or maybe don't know yet. Maybe you're
not. Both will start games duringthe season and it will be beneficial to
(57:29):
the Atlanta Fountains. I despise thattick well because I think about this right
right now, Kirk Cousins is thebest quarterback in the NFC South. I
disagree, but go on, ifMichael Pennix Junior lives up to where he
should be by where he was drafted, they will now have the two best
(57:50):
quarterbacks in the NFC South. BecauseI have zero faith in Carolina. I
have zero faith in car and Ihave even less faith faith in Baker Mayfield.
So the two quarterbacks are on thesame roster. No well, Saker
Mayfield. We're gonna get to theNFC South here coming up. But I
have a feeling where you're gonna leanhere and that's gonna be told you's winning
it hot Lanta. Baby, youhave a chance to change your pics when
(58:13):
you're a defensive coordinator leading the team. Ah, he also stinks. Move
on to my third biggest take ofthe season. This has only happened eight
times in the history of the NFL, and I know I did the same
take last season with a different runningback. Or we're going back to the
well here in twenty twenty four,Saquon Barkley becomes just the ninth running back
(58:34):
in the history of the NFL torun for two thousand yards in a season.
What gosh, he's not gonna getthat many carries. That doesn't happen
anymore. The last time we sawrunning back to it was twenty twenty with
Derreck Henry. Remember, the bigadvantage that Saquon Barkley's gonna have against any
other running back isaid He's gonna getseventeen regular season games if he stays healthy
(58:54):
for all of them, in comparisonto everybody else who had sixteen. Oh
by the way, the Lado JaySimpson only took him fourteen games to run
for two thousand yards back in nineteenseventy three. Saquon Barkley behind the Philadelphia
Eagle offensive line, and we'll talkmore about that coming up later up in
this hour, the NFC East,I have Saquon Barkley and his new home
in Philadelphia, being a huge partof that offense and running for over two
(59:20):
thousand yards. So you're not sayingyards for scrimmage. You're not saying like
fifteen hundred on the ground, fivehundred in the air. You're saying two
thousand strictly rushing rushing yards for SaquonBarkley. I mean, I'd probably make
him a twenty six hundred yard back. Giants fan's not gonna love that if
that happens. Just remember gods atiHeartMedia dot com for those uh fifteen hundred,
(59:43):
well, fourteen hundred and fifty ninewas the rushing leader last year Christian
McCaffrey. After that, no otherrunning back ran over twelve hundred yards.
Okay, and there's no center inthe block form, So so that works
out for my biggest my number oneof my four hot takes, big picks,
dark horse predictions. The Raiders winthe AFC West this year. Oh,
(01:00:07):
the Raiders were three games back inthe AFC last season, and that
was with McDaniels leading him out ofthe gates like drunken sailors, just falling
down all the time. They Ilove everybody acting like the Raiders got worse.
You're five and four under Antonio Pierce. He's now had more time,
(01:00:27):
he's built his roster. You broughtin one of, if not the best
defensive tackles in the league to standnext to Max Crosby Konz is getting better.
On the other end, You've addedto the secondary, You've added to
your weapons on offense. If ain'tO'Connell wins the quarterback job, it's another
He's a year more into it.He's bigger, stronger, faster. Gardner
(01:00:47):
Minshew is a very suitable backup. How are they going to be worse than
they were last year? You playedgood defense, you play good special teams,
and you don't turn the ball overon off That sounds a lot like
the Patriots to me back in theday, Raiders win the AFC West Chiefs
have to fight for a while.Card Wow, I have so many thoughts,
(01:01:13):
abott I you know what, I'mgonna save them all for the AFC
West preview because this was a spotlast year you called O'Connell. I want
to hear more about this. I'mgonna wait pause. I'm not gonna say
anything else. Here's my boldest takeI have for the NFL season right now,
Zesty. The Miami Dolphins move onfrom Tua during the season, So
how that's going to happen? I'mstill struggling with. Is Tua gonna get
(01:01:37):
hurt and they never go back?To him. Is there a potential trade
talk involving Tua. Here's what doesn'tmake sense to me, and we can
do these three choices in a row. Think about this, Whether you're a
Dolphin fan or you're not a Dolphinfan, which one of these ree scenarios
you think is the least likely tohappen during the regular season. Tua gets
hurt to a potentially side mean anew contract, or Tua gets traded or
(01:02:02):
talked to him. Tua led theNFL in passing yards last season. Tua
Tongue by law, also had thereceiver who led the NFL in receiving yards,
and Tyreek Hill missed a few gameslast season. So you got the
leading receiver in the NFL and yourteam, but your quarterback didn't get a
new contract. You have the leadingpastor in the NFL, but your quarterback
(01:02:22):
didn't get a new contract. Yourteam got to the postseason and lost to
the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansasity Chiefson the road. Quarterback didn't get a
new contract. So what does Tuahave to do again a new contract?
Play really well, not get hurt. Are they hoping he gets hurt or
they hoping they came in for cheap. None of the two of stuff in
Miami makes sense. So my takeis that they move on from him during
(01:02:44):
the season, whether they moved toa backup quarterback, whether they try to
bring somebody in, whether they justsay enough's enough. At the end of
the season, we're walking away fromtwo of O're looking towards Sanders or viewers
or some emerging quarterback in the draft. This is it. Two was done
with my amy, and it willhappen more likely before week eighteen than after
(01:03:04):
week eighteen. Tuas said, onething that makes me nervous for him long
term, said, the market isthe market. I think he could actually
missed time. I think it couldhappen. We will find out. Hey,
I'm looking ahead on the show notes. Do you want to just talk
at a FC West real quick here? Because you don't have them listed anywhere
on the upcoming notes? What youdon't you know? I got I got
(01:03:24):
them coming up next. I gotthe AFC West in the NFC West.
Oh, are you sure I thoughtI had NFC West next? Maybe maybe
he didn't put it in my notes. Maybe maybe he didn't share that with
me. Well, let's do thatthen, let's lead off with the AFC
West so I don't miss it,all right, and then the NFC West.
Okay, all right, we're gonnado turn out the music and everything.
(01:03:45):
Listen and you know, maybe communicatewith me a little bit, you
know, maybe that's how we elevatethe show. Maybe that's how we do
it. Besides, of course, our great relationship with Elevation ten thousand,
whether it be apparel, which I'myou know, head over heels. I
love the way to handle all thatsignage. They do a great job.
But most importantly, when you're talkingabout your advertising, your marketing, you
(01:04:05):
need a strategy and your plan andyou know how to execute it. Well,
that's where Elevation ten thousand comes in. SEO, all the ott OTV,
all these things, they matter, they're important an Elevation. Dave mclett
and the crew, they're into it. Hey, we need a quick video
for this, We need a thirtysecond spot for this. We just need
an audio for this. And I'msitting there with my head spinning going what
(01:04:27):
I know, know what happened?Next thing? You know, we're everywhere.
That's what you want. You wantto elevate your brand with somebody who
knows how to do it. Heknows how to do it at the right
price. Take good carry you. That's elevation ten thousand. So elevate your
brand today with elevation tech guy.More on the way, including the AFC
West, at NFC West, predictions, previews, and more. You're listening
to Lavac and Goz is way tooearly too NFL season preview show. It's
(01:04:53):
Lavac and Guzz on ninety five nineFox Sports Radio Head West, young man
head West. I wanted to doone. How the West was one?
You know what? The Midwest isyoung and restless? What's that from?
That's from Kanye West. M KanyeWest is the worst West of all the
(01:05:15):
West that they could ever be West. That was doctor Seuss, that was
doctor Levac. How you doing allright? So it is it is that
time. We're gonna take a lookat the NFC and AFC West. Guys
did right in the thing. Ijust deleted it because I don't really pay
attention to guys. I think westarted with the NFC West because isn't it
(01:05:36):
easy? Isn't the NFC West easy? Isn't it The San Francisco forty nine
ers in the three stooges, likeyou know, you know that that gift
that they've got out there where it'slike the fore headed dragon and like like
one head's really like raw, andthen another one is like a little bit
the other, and then finally there'sone it's like like he just looks like
(01:05:58):
he's like been held in the microfor hours. I feel like I feel
like it's Samisoo. Niners are themean dragon. I will never completely underestimate
the Rams as long as my feyis there. But what are they gonna
do? Seattle? All right?Whatever? Maybe and then Arizona, but
(01:06:18):
San Francisco's it's it's the Niners divisionto lose. I found myself. I
don't disagree without it. You foundyourself. Where were you were you?
Were you in the flowers section ofLow's picking out daisies? Were you going
for a stroll in the park? Were you a sasquatch in the woods?
(01:06:41):
The Niners are the team to beatin the West. They haven't gotten better
that much better, but they're betterenough than better enough. Yep, they
are better enough. He's gotten thedegree is shown to college. They are
still the best team of the NFCWest. Eleven twelve thirteen win mark is
probably most likely. They're still thebest team in the NFC. Yeah,
and because of how this division isgonna play out, it seems like they
(01:07:02):
will be the number one seed againin the NFC. Now, even with
that all being said, with thetwelve or thirteen win mark possible, it's
gonna sound odd that I've given SanFrancisco this division quickly where it feels like
somebody in this division will increase theirwin total, and I would say that
is the year when a Cardinals. The Cardinals won four games last season,
(01:07:23):
so they're gonna win five this year. I would put them closer to six
and a half for seven. I'venever been a huge fan of Kyler Murray,
and I'm really interested of how thesecond season in this offense post Cliff
Kingsbury is going to be. We'regoing to Vegas Insider. Okay, Arizona
Cardinals. Would where are you puttingthem? I would say seven, but
(01:07:44):
I bet they're at six and ahalf. Oh, I guess for overall,
Jonathan Gannon's defense is weird. JamesConter's always underrated in football, so
I would put them in the basementof the West. We have a spattering
of numbers. Six and a halfis the more the most dominant of the
Vegas bookkeeper that ding ding ding sixand a half, seven, seven and
(01:08:04):
a half. It's totally going underseven and a half. So I would
go the Cardinals over. I putthem at seven. But the Seahawks did
not get better. The Seahawks lostPete Carroll this offseason. How long are
they going to have the quarterback situationthe way it is. They've added to
their running back core. The widereceivers are okay, but Seattle has been
a surprising franchise in the past twoseasons. Remember it wasn't too long ago
(01:08:26):
that people thought Seattle would struggle. So I have them under nine wins,
and I've always every single season thatas long as we've done this, have
underestimated the La Rams. Just likeI talked about the Steelers earlier in the
show shot, I agree. Iwant to I want to take a shot
the Rams. I don't find themto be a playoff team. Again,
what if my hot takes last yearwas Sean McVay was going to retire.
(01:08:48):
Didn't happen. They won ten games. But I'll again hate on the Rams
every except the Cardinals, no moregames, let's go win total. So
you so you were pretty much righton with the Cardinals, but you're going
on over six and a half.I think you're wrong. They suck.
Seahawks where you got them, Iwould guess seven and a half, and
(01:09:09):
they're probably gonna sit at eight.I'd probably say eight, which is less
than last year. Seven and ahalf is their total. You got another
one, Good for you. Wayto go. How about your Rams that
you love so much. Well,if I'm gonna give Arizona seven and I'm
gonna give Seattle eight, I wouldprobably guess the Rams are at nine and
(01:09:32):
a half and they're gonna be ateight as well. So I would go
eight total wins, but probably thenumbers at nine and a half. Eight
and a half is the number, and they will go over that. That's
what they do. That's what theydo. That's what they do. And
then and then finally the San Franciscoforty nine ers where you got that's got
to be tied for the most winsof any team in the NFL. So
I would go eleven and a halfand I would put them at thirteen and
(01:09:55):
four the best record along with theCleveland Browns of any team to finish the
regular season in twenty twenty four, correct and correct. The only thing is
it's not the Cleveland Browns that areup there with them. We will talk
about that team on the Vegas partof it coming up momentarily. But like
I said, it's just I lookat the NFC West and I just it's
It's one of those timeframes where whenyou look at Arizona, Yeah, they're
(01:10:16):
they're they're improving, but I'm nota Kyler Murray guy. I the visual
of a little kid running with theremote, like like Rex Kazlowski running from
dad with the remote, as KylerMurray with the football running away from defensive
lineman. I can't get that onmy head. Let's move to Wes.
I feel like Rex is getting tooclose to Kyler Murray's height at this point,
right, So I'm saying it's actual. It's real. Like if he
(01:10:39):
ran around in a red suit,I'd be like, dude, look at
that guy. I just yeah,I'm not. I'm not gonna buy in
Seattle. I think they're gonna theygot some growing to do, you know
you, It's a everybody wants thatnew, fresh smell brand new head coach
whatever they want. That right,Yeah, but you now you've got to
(01:10:59):
you gotta build a new organization.I know Pete Carroll's there in some way,
shape or form, but he's not. So that's that I expected a
small step back. I think theRams. I just something about the Rams.
I just Sean McVay is there.I believe that their playoff caliber.
But end of the day, Santsranistoforty nine ers could could actually be the
best coached, most talented team infootball. Are you ready for the AFC
(01:11:24):
West? I'm born ready, baby. This is this is your division.
This is the one. I thinkit's a little exciting. I think this
is more exciting than people realize.I think you A couple of years back,
we looked at this division and wemet holy cow, like the division
of the quarterback. It was,you know, Russell Wilson got to Denver.
Patrick Mahomes is an elite in KansasCity. Justin Sherbey, your favorite
(01:11:45):
quarterback is I've decided to Surbey. It's the flavor of the week. And
then Derek Carr was coming off ofa decent season, so it was like,
okay, here we go and thenGaroppolo ends up being the quarterback.
When I were like, okay, wait a minute, now you got you
got you know, you got something, and it wasn't. It was the
same old, same old Denver sucked. Chargers were choke artists and Raiders were
(01:12:12):
struggling because of McDaniel's Patrick Mahomes leadsthe Chiefs, you know, to super
Bowls. It's whatever. Last yearyou started to see changes. Now it's
different. Okay, this division now, I think becomes what you thought it
was going to be before. Ifyou were like me and went, wow,
these are these are all top caliberteams with top caliber talent. You
(01:12:36):
in that scenario, we're talking aboutthe conference of the quarterback, the division
of the quarterback. Now it's thedivision to head coach. And yet again
the Raiders would appear to be lackingwhen when you look at the rest of
guys, Andy Reid may be thebest head coach not named Bill Belichick of
our lives. Harbaugh is a mastermotivator. Sean Payton, you don't like
(01:12:58):
him, but he gets things done. And you saw that Denver team get
better last year as the season wenton, even without the quarterback he wanted
or the City or the roster. He is getting rid of veteran defensive players
that are all pros or at leastall Pro caliber and getting better. So
I don't expect that to change.I think this year the AFC West will
(01:13:19):
be the Wild West, and it'sgoing to be very different than what you've
what you've come to expect. Idid the pick against Kansas City thing two
years ago, and they won theSuper Bowl. I felt so strong about
your Raiders back in twenty twenty two. I'm not convinced with Aidan O'Connell that
can be the difference for this team. I'm hesitating to take your Raiders above
(01:13:43):
Denver. So here's how I playout this division. Here, I would
keep Kansas City as the top team. Okay, well, let's do win.
I would put them right back ateleven eleven and a half, so
I would take the under. I'lltake the hook there. I would put
Kansas City the top. Nobody's makinghim off yet, and that's kind of
my mindset here for twenty twenty four. Until I see certain things happen,
(01:14:03):
I'm not gonna pick against him,and especially with Kansas City, he was
won three Super Bowls, so I'llkeep Kansas City at the top, and
you sniffed me out so good here. I want to root against Denver this
season. If you've been listening tothe show, Sean Payton's got a huge
ego. He thinks he can winwith anybody. He thinks he's more important
than he is. He's been takingshots at the local media and Denver.
(01:14:25):
I'm rooting against Denver this season. However, if I gave you the offensive
and defensive rookie of the year pickson this show and said who will be
the rookie of the year in bothof those spots, I'll give it to
bon Nicks, and I'll give itto a player by the name of Jonah
Ellis. Maybe some might not befamiliar with him. He was a defensive
lineman for Utah. I voted forhim for all the awards you could think
(01:14:46):
of, either first or second. He's phenomenal guy named Jonah Ellis. So
I'll give Ellis the defensive Rookie ofthe Year for Denver and bone Nicks the
offensive rookie. Denver can get toten wins, they're gonna be fighting for
a playoff berth, so I'll putthem at ten. So that's ten and
seven. The Raiders back at eightto nine. In the Chargers, I'm
(01:15:08):
gonna give them one more win atsix and eleven. So I have Chiefs,
Broncos, Raiders, Chargers, andI believe the playoff scenario would potentially
put the Broncos in the postseason withten because of tiebreakers. So I have
Denver making the postseason, all right? Where you put their wins eleven for
(01:15:30):
the Chiefs, ten for Denver.Okay, Denvers over under it's five and
a half, one of the lowestin the league. I want it so
bad to be under, but Idon't. I don't think they got that
much worse. And I'm I willnot I will guarantee you I won't touch
that one. I'm so far offI'm not touching it. So and then
I put the Raiders at eight sixand a half, okay, and then
(01:15:55):
the Chargers at six eight and ahalf. Wow, this is the division
of the furthest off when it comesto win totals. So here's how I
see this division going, right,You're kind of seeing it with the New
York Knicks right now. Everybody thinksyou need I need two, maybe three,
maybe seventeen superstars the Knicks look aroundand go or bear with us.
(01:16:16):
What if we built a team fora team sport that actually works together and
plays well and oh it's crazy,it might be crazy enough to work.
Let's see what happens. Kansas Citywas the worst Kansas City we've seen in
a long time. They just happenedto win the Super Bowl. I gat
listen. I know they're still good, but they were a defensive team.
The offense didn't click until late latein the year. I expect them to
(01:16:41):
continue to come back to the packa little bit because I do think Harball
makes a difference with the Chargers. Not enough of one, not in year
one. This is the year totake down Harball, get him now while
he's still figuring out what he wantsto do. I think Denver will get
better, not better enough. Ilook at the Raiders. They went five
and four under Antonio Pierce as thehead coach last year. They just missed
(01:17:04):
the playoffs aight, and O'Connell wasa rookie who got the tar beat out
of him, but they stuck withhim. They played good defense, they
ran the football, they played stellarspecial teams, and they won football games.
Hmm. That sounds a lot likethe Patriots. So a year into
(01:17:25):
it with Gardner Minshew instead of it, it's instead of a backfield quarterback tandem
of a and O'Connell, the rookie, twenty four year old rookie and Brian
Hoyer, who was ninety five yearsold last year. Now it's a o'conna.
A year later, he's the rumorsare that he's been attached at the
hip with Antonio Pierce. He's inthe weight room every day and Gardner Minshew
(01:17:49):
this team, So you mean totell me another year, better defense,
all that stuff, and they're gonnaplay worse than they did last year?
Are gonna regrets with a quarterback withmore experience than everything else. Okay,
it makes a lot of sense.Raiders are gonna win the AFC West Chiefs
are gonna come in second, andthen it's gonna be a dog fight between
(01:18:12):
the Chargers and the Broncos for thebasement. Baby, just swim, baby,
Commendment to Excellence. Listen, we'reback, We're back. You know
Andy Reid, amazing coach, greatcheeseburger reader. Yeah, sure, sure,
there's some bankruptcy issues with Antonio Pierce'swife, right, Now there's some
(01:18:33):
things going on in that guy's life. He wants me at the office.
He's with the dogs. Max Crosbyrun through a wall for that guy.
Wilkins run through a wall for thatguy. Coons. Well, that defensive
front is gonna be a difference maker. Patrick Mahomes, you can't throw touchdowns
from your back. Justin Herbert gonnaslap what's left of your acne off your
(01:18:53):
face. It is gonna be isthe Raiders division. All I can think
of his mad People say we're bullies, people say we played tough, we
played dirty. Yeah, so whatare you gonna do about it? The
Raiders are coming after this year,Raiders, Raiders win, the West,
Chiefs get the wild card, andthen who knows what happens after that.
How do you like me? Now? I like that a lot. That's
pretty good. Coming up next,we have to preview the NFC East in
(01:19:16):
NFC North. NFC East in NFCNorth. I don't believe I had that
originally on the breakdown, the AAFCgot a little bit more love. But
we're running out of time here,so we will get because you love the
AFC North, that's why, Andwe'll get through the South as well later
on playoff teams and more. Butbefore we continue on with our Wade Too
Early NFL preview show, let's talkabout our friends over in Mohawk Honda.
We will be back in Mohawk Kandacoming up here in the month of July
(01:19:40):

wants to work with you to findthe vehicle that fits your budget, your
lifestyle, and more so, maybeyou got the tailgate on the way,
you have season tickets to your favoriteteam. You're taking those rides and you're
(01:20:02):
not worrying about what can happen becauseyou've got a beautiful vehicle that you trust
when you're hitting the road. It'sMohawk Honda where they always go on it
their way to please you. Moredivision previews on the way. Next,
it's the Way Too Early NFL previewshow right here on the Voice of the
Capitol Reason Sportsman, Fox Sports ninetyfive nine and nine eighty. It's Levac
and Guys on ninety five to nineFox Sports Radio. All Right, the
(01:20:27):
NFL way too early preview show withLevac and Guys going on, and we're
gonna start with the NFC North. That's right, it's way too early,
which means we don't even really haveit organized properly. That's how. It's
like one of those things like it'slike your your friends having a party and
you get there super early and it'slike I haven't showered yet. But here's
(01:20:50):
some dip, like we still everything'shere, it's just in weird places.
But the AFC North get their ownsegment. The North got said because you
were so into it. You're sointo the AFC North this year. That's
you and your browns. All right. So this I I really, I
really feel like this could be thethe old NFC Norse. Like this has
(01:21:13):
got the feeling of a street fight, like this is the scene and Anchorman
where all the reporters are all comingtogether and one's gonna try and you know,
the Bears are holding the tried andthe Lions have a ray gun.
You know, numbchucks over there inGreen Bay, and you know they're Vikings.
They're gonna a big old broadsword oraxe or something, a spear maybe,
But I I think this, Ithink the Bears jump up a bit.
(01:21:43):
I don't know if they're I wantto say they're a playoff team,
and I know I made a predictionthat they would make the playoffs. But
in order them to do that,I gotta go against these other guys,
right like I could. At best, you're probably getting two. I don't
think you're getting three. So ifI if I believe the Bears are making
it, that means that means Ipersonally think the Vikings and the Lions won'tcause
(01:22:06):
I think Green Bay's going. Ithink Green Bay's back. How you're describing
the North is the same thing I'mstruggling with here, because they won the
Bears seven games last season. Thebiggest issue for the Bears was the offense.
Justin Field's played okay but below average. But you feel like you have
an upgrade with Caleb Williams. He'slikely going to struggle early on because he's
(01:22:27):
a rookie. You have sweet nailpolish, though from a dunsay on the
outside, he might be he wasstartled how low the numbers were for career
records for the Bears. That's apretty cool humble brag, So I'm with
you. It feels like Chicago's themost likely team to get nine or ten
wins and that the Lions, whofinished with twelve wins last season would go
in the reverse direction with the tougherschedule. But the tough part about getting
(01:22:50):
a hold on the North Division isthat schedule. Like you could see so
many of these games going down tothe fourth quarter in a turnover and an
injury. This is like the Fearof Injury Division because of how close these
teams are gonna be. And youmentioned the Green bit Packers. Green Bay
is poised, if they get intothe postseason, to be one of the
most dangerous teams in the league. They almost knocked off San Francisco last season
(01:23:13):
with a super young roster. Minnesota. You watch JJ McCarthy, they think
he's an upgrade. Now they haveJJ McCarthy, Jordan Addison, justin Jefferson,
They're loaded Aaron Jones. Like Minnesota, feels like they can win the
division this year. This is thehardest division to figure out, and probably
from July until Labor Day, wherethe most action and most takes are gonna
(01:23:33):
be. But I'm leaning towards youthat Chicago gets closer to nine wins,
Detroit gets closer to ten, andit feels more like Green Bay's division to
win than any other team in it. All, Right, so do you
want to do the win totals? How do you wanna do this? Yeah,
let's go from the Let's go fromthe bottom to the top here,
because I have been I have Minnesotain last place here, I agree with
(01:23:56):
that, but I really like theirdefense, Like I really like Minnesota's defense.
I think JJ McCarthy lost some growingpains. Sam Darnold, he's probably
gonna play most of the first year. Where do you have them? This
is just a loaded schedule with theNiners, the Packers double time, the
Lions double the Jaguars. I havethem at I'm gonna sit on six.
(01:24:19):
I'm going with six wins for theVikings. I could see as low as
no. No. If I saylowess four and high six, go five
five. I will give Minnesota five. I think the over under six and
a half. You is six anda half. There you go. I
don't know why I'm making these noises, but I am so I have Minnesota
(01:24:40):
at five. I would then havein the next spot. Gosh, this
gets tough. Chicago and Detroit aregonna finish with the same amount of wins
at ten, so I will gowith the Bears at like seven and a
half. So I have the Bearsat seven a half, but I think
they're gonna win ten games. AndI'm gonna put the Lions at nine and
(01:25:01):
a half. Bears eight and ahalf, Lions ten and a half.
Okay, it's Lions under. ButI have Chicago and Detroit with ten.
I'm gonna have to double check mymath or I think the troth fact.
I think Detroits can only win ninegames. So you know what, I
got Detroit third. You know Ishould have done this for one of my
hottest sixth Detroit's not making the postseason. Oh the Lions are not gonna do
(01:25:24):
it this year. So I've gotGreen Bay with eleven wins, I've got
Chicago with ten, and I've gotDetroit with nine. I've got Detroit outside
of the postseason. So give methe Packers with eleven. I bet their
number is like ten and a half. The Packers are nine and a half.
Okay, bet out the ten inthose spaces. So here's where I'm
(01:25:45):
at. I really think I thinkI think Minnesota comes out of the gate
really strong, like really really strong, and then the league kind of figures
out the quarterback situation, kind ofsimilar to what we saw last year with
Josh Dobbs Coles. I was ableto get him in there and be like,
hey, everything's fine, buddy.Look look there's fifty two is the
mac and you know or whatever. It's like all these things like it'll be
(01:26:08):
fine, and then the wheel willkind of come off with the defense will
keep them in it all season. The Bears, I really feel like there's
something about Ebert flu whenever they've doneWhy would you give all these guys another
chance if you don't really believe inthem. I think I think they will
bounce back quite a bit. Detroit. Do you ever see amazing Jonathan the
guy who bounced the stuff on hisface. He's like, he's a he's
(01:26:30):
a he's a stand up comedian,but he's also a magician. So he's
like, it's not he's not DavidCopperfield. He's not like pet He's not
one of those like really polished. He makes a joke about being a magician,
and it's still magical, like likehe'll be like I need a lighter
from the audience, and somebody likehere you go. They throw a lighter
up. He pulls on a picturefull of lighter. He puts it.
He goes out about fill that upand puts that down and then does like
(01:26:51):
a magic trip like it's you're goingto a magic show, and it gets
the job done. It's funny,it's entertaining. But he didn't make the
Eiffel Tower disappear like Copperfield would. That's the Lions to me. I don't
know how they're doing it. Idon't know how they continue to be so
damn good. They are good playerswhatever, But like the coaching staff does.
(01:27:14):
None of those coaches like strike youas the guy that you're gonna walk
into the room like I just learneda whole new way to play defense,
Like none of them do that. But they still the guys play hard for
him. I think they will becompetitive with green Bay. Green Bay's riding.
I think Josh Jacobs, he's thatguy that I think because they paid
him, he plays harder for them. Remember the guy lived in his car
(01:27:38):
in college. I don't think he'sthe guy who, Oh I got paid,
I can take it easy now.So I think they are gonna be
I think they're gonna be a specialteam. So I will go, I'll
go. I'll go Green Bay wins, it bears second Lions, then Vikings.
Lions just have a down year andthen and then it will be back
next year. Maybe I just somethingabout the lie I don't want to pick
(01:27:59):
it, because they proven they cancompete and they can win. But I
just I think the rest of theNorth has caught up to them. All
right, Now, which one arewe supposed to the the NFC East?
All right? This is I mean, this is the big dog. The
Giants are here. I think theEagles regress. That's my biggest part of
this, guys. Eagles regress.Cowboys a team to beat. I think
(01:28:24):
the Commanders and the Giants play solidfootball all year and it's just a just
so it's the Cowboys and then ajumble of the other three fighting it out
for potentially one of them grabbing awildcard. Okay, so we're sort of
in the same spot when it comesto regression, because when you talk about
regression, I'm talking about. Wewere talking about wins and losses. So
I don't imagine the Cowboys and Eaglesgetting back to twelve and eleven, which
(01:28:46):
was their mark last season for victoriesbecause of what happens within this division.
So although they're not at twelve andeleven, I have the division going a
little differently. The Eagles would getto eleven. Excuse me, the he
goes with, oh gosh, no, you know what, Dallas gets to
ten. Philly stays even at eleven. So Philly eleven victories, they win
(01:29:09):
the NFC East. Dallas goes toten because of what potentially may not be
a running attack this season. Overrunner for both ten and a half ten
and a half, Okay, sowe could potentially see the division play out
with Philadelphia and Dallas. I havea very good feeling that. Yeah,
that's the December twenty ninth game,So that's a Week seventeen game. The
(01:29:30):
winner of the NFC East will bedetermined in the Week seventeen game on December
twenty ninth, So we'll see thathappen. I said it earlier in the
show, and I'll stick by.Nothing's changed in the last ninety minutes.
The New York Giants will have theworst record in the NFL. It's they're
gonna be one of the worst teams. Carolina was in that mix. I
will put the Giants as the numberone pick in the twenty twenty five NFL
(01:29:56):
Draft. Its New England, Carolina, and New York competing for it.
I'm Giants at four victories and ofany team of any franchise. I know
I gave you the Cleveland Browns towin thirteen games earlier in the show.
But my biggest shock is the WashingtonCommanders in twenty twenty four. I have
the Commanders winning ten games this upcomingseason. And it's not so much about
(01:30:19):
Gene and Daniels. It's not somuch about the coaching staff. Look at
that schedule. You can find tenwins here for the way I've looked at
the NFL season. Quickly, Giants, Bengals, Cardinals, Panthers. You
split a series with I gave youthe Giants already, so that's for If
you get the Steelers, that's five, The Titans and Saints that's seven,
(01:30:42):
the Falcons eight. You split theEagles and Cowboys series, get one apiece
on those. That's ten victories. For the Commanders. So I see Washington
winning ten games and go to thepostseason. That's my biggest shock in all
of our NFL preview Washington is aplayoff team this upcoming because of the schedule
more than anything else. Giants andCommanders both six and a half for the
(01:31:04):
win total. My favorite two playsare Browns and Commanders over win totals.
I I do believe there will beSo I think the NFC East has probably
got the most surprises probably of almostany place out there. Like it's but
I really again, I just think, I don't think you lose a guy
like Jason Kelson. I don't thinkif the turnover and the weird stuff that's
(01:31:24):
been happening with the Eagles and itdoesn't represent itself on the field in some
way, shape or form. SoI'm I'm gonna say that they they might
be one of those teams that does. But like they'll go five and other
to start the season, and allthe dirty Eagle fans will be out of
the stupid They'll lose four and thosedudes will be crickets and they'll finish the
(01:31:45):
season you know, nine and eight, eight and nine, and all the
Eagles fans will be like, well, yeah, but you didn't notice,
Like there's a reason it happened. It was Taylor Swift had wrote a song
Jason Kelsey, that's why you justwhat's that? And then when you look
up, they run away. Soyeah, I'm I'm in on the NFC
(01:32:10):
East for the for the entertainment valueof it. But if you wanted me
to put money on the NFC East, I would I would laugh in your
face and run the other way.I have zero interest in putting any real
money on the NFC East. Ithink Dallas will get it done. I
think that. I think that's oneof the few teams that actually thrives in
chaos as opposed to gets destroyed byit. What do we what do we
got here? What we've got theIntegrative Sleep Center and Boss and Spot?
(01:32:31):
What are your favorite places? Ilove it? I love it. Listen.
Lorian's amazing, Ivy's amazing, Doctoreramazing. And I know I know
that last week, I you know, had to listen to a lot of
Mets fans give me a hard timeabout what they did to the Yankees.
You know who didn't give me ahard time? Doc Drier, you know
why because he's a good guy.You know what I mean. He's not
(01:32:55):
just a good guy. He's ahe's a he's a doctor, and he's
a diplomat of dental sleep medicine.I remember asking I go listen, you
know, I'm sold. Like II started going there. I got the
mouthpiece, he's my airway open, the snoring's under control, the sleep apne's
under control. Feeling like a millionbucks. But I had a lot of
people going to be like, well, my dentist said I can do that.
(01:33:16):
This person said they can do that. This is I heard on Joe
Rogan, I can get a mouthpiece. So I said, I go,
Doc, why why? What makesyou better than that? And you know,
Doc kind of humble, but hegoes lori An chimes in right away
he's a diplomat of dental sleep medicineand doctor. And he goes, I
am actually, and I'm like, look at you brush your shoulder off.
(01:33:38):
H up. I go, whatdoes that mean? He goes, He
goes, I took the time,I did the studies. I'm certifiing all
this. So when you sit downwith me, it's not just oh,
I have the right to sell youthis mouthpiece. It's let's find the right
one for you and make sure itfits the right way and you're getting results.
I was like, that's why you'remy dog. Eighty five, six
eighty five, six eighty five,Doctor Frederie and the Integrave Sleep Center and
(01:34:00):
Boss of the Spot. It helpedme sleep better. They're gonna help you
sleep better too. I have afeeling these next two divisions. I thought
I was gonna be the East andthe North. There's one division in particular
that I think you and I aregoing to disagree on a lot. Our
division wrap up ends with the AFCand NFC South. I guarantee we disagree.
As on ninety five nine Fox SportsRadio head South, young man,
(01:34:27):
all right, here we here wego. Here we go the AFC South.
Let's start there. Because this wasthis was a bit of a surprise
to Shacker, if you will, two in one baby uh. A year
ago, as I thought, Jacksonvillewill get it done, Tennessee looked okay,
Andy looked great early, but Houstonc J. Stroud, wide receivers,
(01:34:53):
Nicos Collins, everybody. That teamtanked out. They got it done.
They embodied their new head coach andthey played tough, hard nosed football
and scored a bunch of points. They got it done, They were fun
to watch. They won the South. If we went back and listened to
our twenty twenty three preview, andthis is what we always offer, perspective
(01:35:14):
because this is what makes this fun. If you did percentage per talked about,
I'm willing to say the Texans werethe least talked about team in our
preview last year, because when youlooked at the AFC last year, you
could have made a case that everysingle team last year would make the postseason
besides Houston. And of course Houstonwas the team who made the postseason,
won the division, won double digits. So that's what makes these preseason conversations
(01:35:38):
so much fun that you don't wantto write anybody off. But Houston was
the team that was rode off lastseason. And I am very interested in
not just how you discussed the Texanshere, not just what I think about
the Texans, but you listening rightnow, because it feels like here early
in the summer, that this isgoing to be the sexy Super Bowl pick.
(01:35:59):
They've got all all the things, the young quarterback and improving defense of
fun head coach a schedule that theycan manage. The future is bright that
I want to hear at. TomGoss t MG is easy on the iHeart
app Are you gonna be one ofthese people that take the Texans as a
sexy Super Bowl pick? I'm notdisagreeing with it. I feel like this
is going to be the trendy pickall summer long. What does sophomores do?
(01:36:25):
Sophomores become juniors or were formerly freshmen. Sophomore slump, they slump,
sophomore slump right pick wrong, heearJacksonville Jaguars win the South Jacks win the
South Texans. They look better. They're gonna play hard football, but they're
gonna have some untimely interceptions thrown byC. J. Strouds of turnovers.
It's gonna cost them some big gamesand that is going to make them look
(01:36:48):
very human and they will fall tothe Jacks. I also have Jaguars winning
the AFC sounth the team that waseight and three last season in the Sea.
It's closer to eleven wins for Jacksonvilleif they close out a few games.
This is their division. I haveJacksonville at eleven. You know what,
(01:37:09):
let's do just two. All right, off the get go here for
the over underwin totals. Guessing,I would put Jacksonville at nine and a
half and I would put Houston atnine and a half. I bet they
both have the same number here forJacksonville at Houston, I would have Jacksonville
get at eleven, and for somethis would be shocking. I have Houston
at eight wins in missing the postseason. All right, Oh, let's see,
(01:37:32):
so you have Houston at eight.I have Houston at eight. I
have Jacksonville eleven, but I betboth are at nine and a half nine
and a half for the Texans, let me see, where the where are
the Jacks? Where are they whereeight and a half? Pretty close?
Yeah, not bad though, Indy? So is this how I have the
division? I have Jacksonville at one, Houston at two, missing the postseason,
(01:37:55):
Indy at three, Tennessee at four, so really only swamping two teams
to the Titans. First, Gosh, that's a mess. Mike Rabel shouldn't
have been fired. I Will Levisis an exciting quarterback, but he doesn't
have Derrick Henry anymore. You wonderwhat Tennessee can do defensively. I've already
tagged the Giants and the Patriots andthe Panthers is the worst team. But
(01:38:15):
if someone told me, guys,I'm taking a flyer on Tennessee being the
worst team in the NFL this season, You're not gonna hear a lot of
pushback from me on that. TheTitans have a lot of questions to get
answered. The Colts for the secondconsecutive season. I am so lost in
Indianapolis. You guys did this tome last year where you had the future
of Jonathan Taylor in question. WhatAnthony Richardson can be. Shane Stikeen as
(01:38:36):
the play caller I believe is stillin an Indy the Colts are as.
The Colts won nine games last seasonwithout their franchise quarterback. Shane Styker could
have won the Coach of the Yearfor what he had to deal with.
So Indy is a mess. I'mgonna say they're gonna have one Lass win,
but gosh, this is the teamI'm gonna go back and forth with
(01:38:56):
all summer long. I lost onwhat I could expect out of the Colts
and Richardson. The Colts over undereight and a half eight and a half
pass the pass. All right,I go. This is this is how
(01:39:17):
I stack it up. Jacksonville winsit, Colts coming second, Texans third,
in the basements of Titans. That'swhere I'm at for this for the
South. That's all I got.That's all I got. I can't,
I said, I just I reallylike the Texans. I feel weird fading
them. I almost want to givethem like a wild card or something,
(01:39:39):
which we'll this Gus's coming up.But I just I see the You know,
everything was so clean for you lastyear. I just can't believe it
happens two years in a row foryou. And a big twist in last
year's NFL preview, Levac and I, one of our boldest takes last year
was that not only did we havethe same division champion come from the NFC
(01:40:00):
South, but we both believed thatthe New Orleans Saints would be the highest
win total in the NFC. TheNew Orleans Saints would have a path to
the Super Bowl. You and Ididn't even talk about it, and we
both loved the Saints. Not onlydid the Saints disappoint us, not only
the Saints missed the postseason, butas on point as we were last year.
That is completely different. I feellike two. That's the twenty four
(01:40:24):
when we evaluate this. Would youlike me to go first? Yeah?
Okay. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers havewon this division in three consecutive seasons.
The year they didn't win the divisionwas the year they wanted the postseason.
It took out the Saints in athird matchup and had gone on to win
the Super Bowl. And everyone's trashin Tampa last year. I thought Tampa
was done post Brady. They piecedit together with a good baker mainfield.
(01:40:45):
Mike Evans is still on a Buccaneerroster. That's shocking enough. They did
it with the retiring proud of HobartAlly Marpett, who was supposed to be
their best offensive lineman. And ifthey don't suffer injuries against Detroit, they
have a chance against the Lions.Give me my Buccaneers to win the South
at ten wins and everybody else's wintotal goes down. Accept Atlanta's who wins
(01:41:08):
nine games, So I can't Bucksseven and a half, Bucks at ten,
Atlanta at nine, New Orleans atseven, Carolina at three, Carolina
five and a half a stink. So Saints seven and a half. Tampa
won, So Tampa over New Orleansis probably right there at seven, seven
(01:41:30):
and a half eight, probably passon that one. Falcons at nine.
So mine is Tampa and a half, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Carolina.
With those spreads right there, Vegas, Atlantic City, New York is
telling us Atlanta is the team tobe true. I'm gonna go Atlanta one,
Saints two, Buccaneers three, Panthersfour, and the only team that
(01:41:54):
is playing. Really, I thinkthe Saints will be a little better,
a little more, a little littlemore improved there. I think the Falcons
will be the most improved. Letme hear that again. You went Falcons,
Saints, Bucks. Yeah, thenPanthers. I almost put them out
of the Panthers. But that's like, oh my gosh, I think the
Bucks serious regression. I think you'relooking for a new head coach. You're
(01:42:15):
probably a top five pick next year. Don stop it, coach, new
quarterback, top five picnict Oh,because if your hate of Baker, you're
gonna try it to rail my mywonderful right. I have no control over
what happens. It's not like II have spoken the words into reality.
The buccanty is now the sucking islive with it, like you know,
(01:42:41):
just this is what I believe.I just I don't. I don't believe
in bulls. The coach, youlost, your defensive coordinator, your quarterback's
garbage, and the offensive coordinator too, and the offensive coordinator too. Right,
No, it's garbage. Guard Bochgot a bus. The Buccaneers have
a pretty tough start to the seecommander, so I told you she's gonna
win ten games. The Lions, who are a few plays away from winning
(01:43:03):
the division, and improve Bronco teamthat I have in the postseason, The
Eagles, the Falcons. That's atough five games out of the gates for
my books. If you get tolike three and two there gosh, the
Ravens, the Chiefs, the Niners, the Cowboys, that's, oh my
gosh. I have to hope thatthe South isn't very good, like it
(01:43:25):
hasn't been a few past seasons,at least win and loss wise. Oh,
he won't be good. Have youseen the Buccaneers. I think the
Falcons are the only team. They'vegot a lot of lapens on offense.
It's gonna be it's gonna be afun year for the Falcons. The rest
of y'all are in trouble there thereit is. That's the South. South,
You're not. Oh, no,Buccaneers. Ten wins, yeah,
(01:43:45):
over three seasons, one, two, three, four, five? All
right, all they have to dois beat every team in the South and
then beat a few. No,No, I feel good about ten.
They're winning division. You know whatI want to do? New math here?
Can they win the division? Atseven and ten? They might be?
Can they eight? At nine?I feel like the South I think
(01:44:09):
Falcons are nine to ten win team. Let's talk more about the Falcons there,
because that is your pick. Iwant to give them a little bit
of love, even though that's theBuck and your rival. I'm just passing
on the Panthers because they got somany issues. The Panthers have so many
issues. The Saints had their opportunitylast season. I feel as if that
quarterback spot. Are we going tosee Spencer Ratler? Are we gonna see
some really good play calling from NewOrleans? They both have more issues than
(01:44:31):
just the ex'es and o's. DavidTepper, the owner of the Panthers and
the Saints, they just feel likethey got to figure some stuff out.
This almost feels like a relationship ofdo you want to go back out there
and start dating again. I feellike you got to focus on you before
you start talking about a division championship. And Atlanta, I believe his name
is. Terry Fontinett is the GMof Atlanta. You know, I had
(01:44:53):
so much fun with Sam Hinkey, the old trust, the process guy who
died for our sins. According tothe signs to so, Terry Fontenette drafted
Kyle Pitts is a top five pickas a tight end, which is wild
to say out loud, but thathappened. You think whatever you want of
Pitts in fantasy this season. He'sgot a contract coming up. If you
take him later on, you mightbe fine. But a top five pick
(01:45:14):
on a tight end. Season followed, you had the best statistical running attack
in the NFL, even better thanPhilly, and he thought, Hey,
our running is so good, we'regonna draft Bejean Robinson, which was shocking,
and then he followed it up thisyear with the Michael Pennox pick.
Either Terry Fottenet has re adjusted theway NFL teams think or he's very dumb,
(01:45:36):
because he's also the guy who hiredArt the fart smith who stunk as
the coach, or the Falcons lastseason. So a lot of this has
to do with management for Atlanta. That's why I don't trust the Falcons because
it feels like it starts there anda lot of those questions for Atlanta could
get answered in twenty twenty four. But the Pennix thing hangs over. You
said earlier in the show, youthink they're just gonna split this thing.
(01:45:57):
Well, I don't think he's gonbe an intentional split, but I think
it works. I think what happensis Kirk Cousins plays when he can play,
Patnick's plays when he can play. But between the two of them,
they have a good season. Ijust we're in a day and age.
We used to be the day andage where you couldn't have multiple running backs.
You had a feature back and thenmaybe like a short yardage guy.
(01:46:17):
Now you need like three. Ifyou don't have three running backs, you're
not making it through the year.If you have two quarterbacks, I mean
you really don't have one. Okay, maybe that's the way it used to
be, and maybe that's the wayit is. If you have a Tom
Brady or an Aidan O'Connell. Youknow, somebody really great. But if
you don't have that, you mightneed multiples. You might need multiple guys.
(01:46:38):
I love when Gaza is distracted.I can slip in ad O'Connell is
a great quarterback. And E didn'tsay a word. I didn't saw your
eye over. I saw your eyebrowgo up. This was it about him.
I got caught a straight. Ithought you were giving somebody else a
compliment. No. I saw youreyebrow go up, and I was like,
oh, you didn't catch it.All right, let's go No.
So I think that I think itworks for them. And again, who's
the backup Foraker Mayfield? I believeit's still Kyle Trask. Yeah, of
(01:47:03):
this recording, you know, whichis great because when he's done with his
shift a McDonald's, he can runsome drills. It's listen. I'm sorry.
She's not a good year for you, guys. Baker Mayfield is not
who you go to war with. What if we find out that this whole
time, Terry Fontinett's just been drafteda fantasy football team. He's like,
I got the wide receiver Drake London. Then the next year I took the
(01:47:25):
tight end and the next year Itook the running back. There's too much
value here for my fourth year takeme. I mean, if they put
up numbers, it works, that'sall it matters. I just that's where
I'm at. I think your Buccaneerswill will suffer. Well, you said
that you believe that Todd Bowles willbe fired. The Buccaneers will be looking
(01:47:45):
for some replacements. I don't knowif Jordan Modiana. I don't even know
Jordan's team. I assume he's aGiant Jet fan, maybe a Bills fan.
But Express Employment Professionals can help youfind your next career path. And
maybe Terry Fonton at the gym forthe Falcons might be looking to do something
different and say, look at thisskill set. I'm really good at fantasy
football. I'm doing it in reallife. I'm revolutionizing the whole thing.
Express Employment Professionals again can help youfind that skill set that works for you
(01:48:09):

that connection that you need. Takethat off your plate. Let someone else
handle scouting, recruiting and more foryou. It's Express Employment Professionals. Check
them out today, Levac. We'vegot to do a quick little math here.
We're gonna lay out the playoffs. We're gonna run through it one more
time. Who are the playoff teams? I hate doing this. Who are
the playoff teams? And to maketo make the math a little easier,
we'll also talk about where our NewYork teams will finish. So we'll do
(01:48:54):
the New York teams Bills, Jets, Giants, what the overall records will
look like, and then what areour playoff teams look like. Then we'll
go through the playoff breakdown and howwe get closer and closer to the super
Bowl on February ninth, twenty twentyfive in New Orleans. That's all on
the way. Next, you're listeningto the Way Too Early NFL season preview
show, Lavack and Goz. It'sLavak and Guz on ninety five nine Fox
(01:49:19):
Sports Radio. All Right, theway too early NFL preview show is almost
wrapped up here. This is whata little bit longer to talk about it.
Where do you think your New Yorkteams are going? We'll start there
and then we'll lay out our playoffsbest we can. Again, it's way
too early, so I reserve theright to change this repeatedly, just so
(01:49:42):
we're clear. I mean, myNew York is pretty I thought it was
pretty cut and dry. I don'tknow why you need a recap. Guys,
Obviously you weren't paying attention. Irecapping because some people will scan forward
to this part of the podcast andwe see you. We know what you
did. We time stamped it foryou people, and you just skipped every
else to get to this content. So that's why we did it for you
lazies who decided to skip all theother segments to get to here. Wow,
(01:50:04):
we put a lot of work intothis. I mean I almost wrote
things down and you just skipped ahead. Yes, suck, You're terrible,
all right, So I mean, let's we'll go. We'll go buffalo in
I think the Bills are Super Bowlcontender. I think they're legit. I
think they're better than legit. Ithink they've you know, they did like
(01:50:25):
a massive purge, which means maybethey start a little slower than some expect.
But I think they've got plenty onoffense. I think mcdermot's got that
defensive mind where he's going to beable to overcome and teach these newer players
that are being brought in to bringthe defense back to where it needs to
be. Plus a healthy Matt Milano'sa huge key cod to what they're going
(01:50:45):
to be doing. So Bill's superBowl contender. In my book, I
have the Buffalo Bills is the AFCEast champions. I have them with twelve
victories. I think I went backand forth between eleven and twelve earlier in
the show. I will sit nowon twelve. That's gotta be uncomfortable.
I'll say they'll defeat the Kansas CityChiefs in that November seventeenth game, which
could decide the two or the threeseed. So with that math working out
(01:51:09):
that way, and with Buffalo inmy projections here beating Kansas City in the
regular season, that would put theBills as the second seed in the AFC,
they would not get a bye becauseonly one team gets a bye,
and I already said it earlier toshow that would be the Cleveland Browns.
I have them at thirteen and fourthis season. So the Bills an AFC
East Championship, a home playoff game, some would say the favorite, potentially
(01:51:30):
record wise by the time January rollsaround, another good season on the way
out in Western New York. Weboth agree on that. Jets. I
think they're a wildcard team. Ithink they will do enough now that Rodgers
is back from Egypt whatever he learnedfrom from the Pharaohs and raw and like,
I don't know whatever the mind alteringdrug is that he did there to
(01:51:54):
get to get right. I thinkhe locked himself in a tomb. I
think listen, I just I thinkthey've got the talent. They definitely,
like if I was just going basedon the talent on the team, they're
a playoff team. I don't knowwhat Robert Salad is anymore. I don't
know what that coaching staff is.I know, I know Nathaniel Hackett has
the ear and the love of AaronRodgers, but does he have everybody else?
(01:52:15):
It's like how far can you getin the NFL quoting Goldfinger? You
know, like like the Austin Powersmovie, Thank you for clearing that upfiliar
with the Goldfinger the James Bond movie. No, that that's GoldenEye. That's
GoldenEye, the Man with the GoldenGun. Uh, there's gold Yeah.
The the I mean, just notnot not getting instill a lot of confidence
(01:52:40):
in me. So because of thecoaching staff. I think wild card team.
I think they have a chance.Maybe if they didn't have to play
the Bills twice. I'd have thema little higher, but good enough to
get there. But has not completelywiled me to the point that I'm gonna
go ahead and one hundred percent protectthem as being a postseason team. I
gat we talked about New York teamsor base here in the campital to reach
in. But the New York Jetslast year twenty twenty three, we're a
(01:53:02):
story from the moment Aaron Rodgers becamea Jet until wait, it hasn't stopped
because he got hurt and had aseason ending injury. No, he didn't
not in his mind. We didthis for months last year, Levac whether
or not Rogers would come back therewas an open tap potentially on the table
(01:53:23):
if Rogers had played, if hehad changed history, if he had gone
against modern medicine and played with thetorn achilles. But there was a storyline
every week the Jets continued all seasonlong and all summer long, and I'll
fall a long and all went alongto give us content. And guess what
in twenty twenty four, they're gonnado it again, because here's what's gonna
(01:53:44):
happen for the Jets. We're gonnahave all the Rogers storylines. We're gonna
have how good the team is playing. But all year long, they're gonna
sit right on the fringe, righton the brink. Maybe they're a playoff
team, maybe they're not. Theyplayed good this week, No they didn't.
And it's gonna come down to thefinal two weeks of the season for
the Jets. The final two gamesof the season for the New York Jet
are a December twenty ninth game againstthe Buffalo Bills and a January fifth game
against the Miami Dolphins. They havea scenarios win the AFC East potentially,
(01:54:09):
and they have a scenario to bea playoff team. I'll say they don't
win that Buffalo game, but they'regonna be sitting with the same exact record
or very close to with Miami. It'll close out the regular season, the
Jets are the Dolphins. Winner, you're in, if you lose, you're
out. And in the final game, Week eighteen, in prime time,
Aaron Rodgers leads the Jets to thepostseason with a ten and seven record.
(01:54:31):
Miami loses out on the tiebreaker. The Jets ten wins wild card team into
the postseason with a win over Miami. They will be talked about every week
all season long. All Right, the New York Giants, I I'm gonna
(01:54:53):
have to say misses the playoffs. But as I stated earlier, again for
those of you not paying attention, thanks for nothing wasting my time. I
really see this is the team thatcould do either. Like I see,
this is the team that can comeout barnstorm, you know, get hot
early and stay hot, or havea couple things fall the wrong way and
completely fall off the map. It'sit's the the old school Madden equivalent of
(01:55:16):
they're gonna need some big plays towin today, John, Like, this
is a team that I believe inthe coaching. I'm a bigger fan of
some of the moves they've made thanother people are. They're they're headed in
the right direction. I think thatthey're probably a year or two away from
being like a power, but Ithink they're a year two away from being
(01:55:39):
a power. Like I think they'reon their way. They I like what
they've done with their wide receiver room. You know, whether or not Saquon
is a you know, universal talentlike God's expect to be in Philadelphia,
I think it was the right timeto move on from him because of everything
going on. I like the Giants. I just I think they're probably they're
either a six or a ten winteam I'd like. I don't think there's
(01:56:01):
anything in between where it's like theyscrapped to get the six and you're like,
oh man, you see a couplethings and give you a hope for
next year, or somehow they putit together and they get to ten and
they're in the hunt for the wildcard. I believed so much in the
New York Giants. I hold grudgeswhen I do these things, even though
that selfish makes no sense because everythingchanges. I don't want to lose out
(01:56:21):
on a wager again when I evaluatethis twenty twenty four New York Giant team.
I believe they're gonna have four victoriesbecause their schedule is brutal. I
predicted three playoff teams from the NFCEast, So mathematically, if I'm gonna
get three playoff teams from one division, one team is gonna be terrible.
That team is the Giants. Sowe're gonna see a scenario playout as we
(01:56:43):
get to mid December, early Decemberthat I wouldn't be shocked if you and
I start talking about mock drafts forthe Giants by October of Hey, how
about that quarterback? There's gonna bea lot of times on our rivers casino
shows, hopefully live from the sportsbookthis fall that we're gonna be hey,
how did that? How did Sandersplay for Colorado? How did Beck play
for Georgia? How did yours playfor Texas? That's going to start up
(01:57:06):
all year. I believe the Giantswill win four games in the game against
Carolina by mid November when they playhim in London or Germany or France or
Brazil or somewhere not in the UnitedStates of America. When that game goes
off, that could determine a topthree pick. The Giants and the Titans
will battle it out for the secondpick. The Panthers will have the worst
(01:57:28):
record, they are gonna stink, and the quarterback of the future. Giant
fans watch as much Saturday football asSunday football. This is it for Daniel
Jones. All right, how doyou want to playoffs? I'll just run
through my division winners for the AFCand then use the yours. Yes,
let's do this. Let's run throughexech what you said and added your wildcards,
and then once we get our seven, we'll run through the playoffs and
(01:57:49):
how we think we're going to findour way our path to Super Bowl fifty
nine in New Orleans. So yourseven playoff teams division winners than wildcard,
I'll let you go. First.Get the Buffalo Bills in the East,
the Baltimore Ravens winning the North, the Jacksonville jack Walls winning in the South,
the Las Vegas Raiders went in theWest. And then for wild cards,
(01:58:10):
I've got Chiefs, Jets, Browns. I also put down a mulligan
of Dolphins, like just because Iwanted an extrap So Chiefs, Jets,
Browns. Uh if I'm wrong aboutany of those. It's the Dolphins a
sneakhead. I'd like how you wroteMulligan because I also was doing math on
mine. I'm like, okay,so the run through mine again. I
will do Bills, Browns, Jaguars, Chiefs. Was I had wrong?
(01:58:34):
I wrote that wrong on my sheethere Chiefs so pretty generic stuff there.
Then I have the Ravens, okay, and then I have a three way
tie. I have a three waytie between the Broncos, I have the
Dolphins, and I have you knowwhat, no, just a tie.
(01:58:57):
And because of that tiebreaker, I'lltake the Broncos. And for the second
consecutive season, I'm obsessed with Denver. I hope I changed that pick,
but those are my teams one moretime. Bills, Browns, Jags,
Chiefs, Ravens, Jets, andthe Broncos because of the tiebreaker over Miami
get in all right. For theNFC the East, I've got the Cowboys
North, the Packers South, theFalcons west of the forty nine Ers.
(01:59:21):
Then my wild cards, Eagles,Bears, Lions, Mulligan, Rams like
I think the Rams somehow, Ijust I can never give up. I
wish I knew how to quit them. I don't. Well, the Rams
have had you cash you tickets before, so there's a reason why you're loving
them. It's an amazing coach. He gets a lot of his offense.
They found Puka Nikula when nobody elsewas looking at him. They're special.
(01:59:44):
We've got a very similar NFC.I've got the Eagles and Packers and Niners,
all this division winners. The onlychange there is I have my Tampa.
I don't have the Eagles. Ihave the Cowboys Eagles, I have
the wildcard. Yes, yes,I'll get to that. Yes I have
the Buccaneers. When in the division, I do have the Cowboys as a
wildcard. So the Eagles, Cowboys, and we also have the Bears in
Okay. So as of right now, five of our six teams in the
(02:00:05):
NFC are all similar. The onlyone we flopped is the Buccaneers and Falcons.
Omer you took the Lions as yourother playoff team. My surprise of
this whole thing. The standout pickthe team that didn't make the postseason last
year that gets in this year aten win Washington Commander team. All right,
all right, So that's that isthe the playoffs. That's who's who's
(02:00:28):
in the dance. Let's go aheadand do it. So take a quick
break, come back. We'll giveyou how we see it plays out.
Who's who is going to be innylends for the Super Bowl this year.
We'll do that for you. Comingup the next Levak and Guys, Fox
Sports Radio, ninety eighty. Guys, hit that bun. We're not done
yet though, but hit a button. Hit a button. Come on,
(02:00:49):
all right, it's Lavac and Guyson ninety five nine Fox Sports Radio.
All right, our postseason table isset. We are we are ready to
kind of talk about the dance nowthat we know who's in the dance for
the ANFC. I've got Bills,Ravens, Jags, Raiders, Chiefs,
Jets, and Browns. You gave, You're given what you can do yours.
(02:01:13):
In a second, I'm gonna givemy buye to the Bills. I
just I don't want to get theBills with the Ravens. I'm gonna give
it to the Bills. I'm gonnagive the bye week to the Bills.
But realistically speaking, I just Ithink it's going to be Bills in the
AFC Championship Game. I'm I'm notgonna sit here and break down the seating
(02:01:34):
because I just it's way too earlyalready. Now all of a sudden,
I'm so to decide who has youknow? But I do think that the
Tues team will go to the Jags, Like I just I can't. This
is not how my brain works.Yet I will do that for the a
little bit early preview. Yeah, the way too early. I'll give the
(02:01:57):
bye to the to the Bills.I think the Bills. Do you get
to the AFC Championship game, I'mgonna go. I'm gonna go Bill's Ravens
AFC Championship Game. Bills get itdone. Bills represent the AFC in the
Super Bowl. Whoa, Okay, hold on, wow, all right,
i wanna go back to that fora second. I'm gonna lay mine out
(02:02:17):
quickly. Here. I've got theBrowns. I'm gonna give my seats because
I want to, cause you're thelittle overachiever in the AFC. The thirteen
and four Cleveland Browns are gonna goto buy and they're not gonna don't know
what to do it themselves. Sohow I see this play? Now,
the Bills are the second best. The Chiefs the third, the Jaguarns the
fourth. So then we go fivesix seven. I get concerned that Baltimore
(02:02:42):
is gonna be the matchup for Clevelandin the divisional round and all the other
favorites win, as much as it'dbe fun to see the Jets and Broncos
advance. So we get Cleveland versusBaltimore, and then we get Buffalo versus
Kansas City. And that's why Iwanted to stop there for a second.
Back in your scenario. Yeah, and I know we'll build for you,
(02:03:03):
we'll build off of this a littlebit later. But isn't that the biggest
question of the twenty twenty four season? Truly? Like not with the New
York bias, and I don't thinkwe did really any New York buyings this,
but truly, like I think,if you are on a national scale
and looking at this and you haveno rooting interest for Buffalo or Kansas City,
the question is can the Kansas Citychief dynasty continue? We don't know
(02:03:25):
if, by any chance, bythe fall of Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift
will be engaged and married and havea baby. Who knows, But can
Buffalo finally get over the top oris Kansas City in all time dynasty?
Isn't that the biggest question of thetwenty twenty four season, and especially if
in maybe your scenario, it doesn'tmind scenario they play in the postseason.
(02:03:45):
No, I think they make thepostseason. Here's here's the thing, or
play or play against each other.I think that there is a there's a
blueprint to beat them now, andI think you saw it the last week
of the regular season. There.I realistically, I think all these teams
go out there and go, hey, we can outscore them, you know
(02:04:10):
what I mean, Like like theirdefense is better than it's been, but
their offense is taking a step back. Whatever. Well, as soon as
you think you can outscore them,Travis Kelcey gets loose for two touchdowns.
Isaiah Checko runs for seventy five yardsangry yards on the ground, but catches
fifty yards with whatever they you can'tdo that. You have to stop Mahomes,
(02:04:30):
not stop him. You have tomake him look human. Okay,
you got to shorten the game. You've got to do the things that you
do two great quarterbacks, like whatthe Giants used to do to Brady.
You gotta find a way to getpressure with four down, not with a
blitzer. You've got to be ableto double cover the big weapon in Travis
Kelcey if you need to. Butyou still have to get You have to
(02:04:53):
play perfect defense almost and you haveto win on special teams. Oh and
not turn the ball over. That'slike the this the pe to beat them
is the recipe to be a greatteam. Pretty much. The Raiders are
going to do it to them again. They're gonna beat them in the regular
season. They're going to I thinkthat they this Raiders team is built to
beat the Chiefs. Maybe not everybodyelse, but they're built to beat the
(02:05:15):
Chiefs. So I think the recipesout there, Teams like the Ravens will
be able to do it. Teamslike the Raiders, maybe the Steelers defense
will be able to do it.There'll be teams that'll be able to beat
the Chiefs. Mahomes is gonna haveto do some other worldly stuff, which
we know he's capable of to getto an AFC championship game. I think
they make the postseason, but Ithink they have I think they have a
(02:05:35):
relatively early out because they think they'rea wild card. These are the storylines
that will potentially haunt Bills fans foryears to go if they can't get over
the top, if they don't followthe game play and set by the Raiders
and other teams who have had successagainst the Chiefs because they've gotten so close
the thirteen second game. I knowit's Cincinnati, but the Jamar Hamlin game,
(02:05:57):
you felt like if Buffalo got throughthat that would have been different.
Didn't During the most recent Chief Billmatchup, people said it was supposed to
be a Disney movie when they ranthe fake play of Tomorrow Hamlin, Yeah,
it didn't work out. You hadthese moments potentially on the way for
Buffalo, they just haven't happened yet. I'd love to see them break through,
but unfortunately, until I see ithappen, I'm not gonna predict it
(02:06:18):
to happen. So in my AFCtitle game, I've got the Ravens and
the Chiefs. I've got Kansas Cityversus Baltimore, and if I'm gonna take
the take of I won't believe ituntil I see it. I won't pick
the team to get over the humpuntil they actually get over the hump.
I can't take Baltimore to get tothe Super Bowl, so as lame and
(02:06:40):
as boring as it is, I'vegot the Kansas City Chiefs going back to
the Super Bowl. I've got KansasCity winning the AFC. And I don't
want to be like Chris Berman fromthe nineties and just keep taking the Bills
and Niners every year. But Ifeel as if until someone can take down
Kansas City in this run. Tampadid it when they had Brady, Cincinnati
didn't postseason. I'm going to takeKansas City until I see somebody take them
(02:07:03):
out in the AFC. This isa Patriot scenario, Cincinnati. I don't
give them in the postseason. Ifthe Bengals were right here Leveck, then
maybe I'd take Sindsy because I've seenhim before. But I got Kansas City
coming out of the AFC. Allright, NFC East, I've got the
Cowboys. We said that. Ithink. God, I'm gonna listen.
It's the forty It's just like theNFC West. The NFC is the forty
(02:07:26):
nine ers and everybody else's That's whatit is. So the forty nine ers
will get the bye week, whichmeans they're healthy and rested for whoever roles
in the town I'm gonna do thesame thing I did before. It's gonna
be forty nine Ers, forty nineErs over Packers in the NFC Championship Game,
setting up a Super Bowl matchup ofthe Bills versus the forty nine ers.
(02:07:48):
Don't give me the winner yet,or your Super Bowl, I'll do
whatever I want. Don't give methe winner yet, because I was hoping
for more intrigue here in the NFC. How my scenarios play out? I
have San Francisco is one in GreenBay is two, and they both have
a pretty nice path to the NFCTitle Game. So I also have the
same exact NFC title game as youSan Francisco versus Green Bay. You look
(02:08:11):
at the Green Bay Packers now, though they're more experienced, they're a better
roster Jordan loves in a contract season, He's gonna get some comparisons throughout the
year or two what Joe Flacco didin his contract season. So you've got
San Francisco versus Green Bay with thegame out on the West coast of who's
gonna get the job done. Let'sgo back in history. Don't we remember
(02:08:33):
that Green Bay Some would argue shouldhave won that game. Green Bay should
have beaten San Francisco in the twentytwenty three NFL Playoffs. If I got
Green Bay versus San fran Jordan Lovecan out play Brock Party. I believe
Lafleur can out coach Shanahan because we'veseen choke games away, including two Super
(02:08:58):
Bowls with double digit leads, andI know he's the for the Falcons.
If that's the scenario, give methe Packers. So I've got Kansas City
versus Green Bay and Super Bowl fiftynine. And let's add to this,
by the way, you took theNiners, I took the Packers throughout the
show. If you missed it,I'm gonna drop in one more time.
(02:09:18):
We have done this for four consecutiveseasons. This is now season number five.
We have nailed one participant in theSuper Bowl for four consecutive seasons.
We've got the Super Bowl right withGods doing the first edition with Buccaneers chiefs
Levac nailed the Super Bowl winner forthe Rams the following season. But let
me also point out that that streakthat I'm talking about, it also is
(02:09:39):
four consecutive seasons of us could bethe NFC representative, correct it? Doesn't
sound as cool the second way tosay it, but hey, that's what
it's been. Well, actually thinkabout that too, just for pure homerism,
because the AFC is where my teamis. I have trouble picking the
AFC. You got lucky and yourteam went and bought Brady, so you
(02:10:00):
got your team in like like theNFC had a second. Now I took
the Eagles in one of those theRams who were in a slam dunk favorite.
We'll see. You had the Giantslast year. You you had no
respect, no credit every other year, and I've got to rotate how more
likely to get it? Yes beforewe do our Super Bowl before we actually
play it out. Okay one ibut. Our good friends over at c DTA
(02:10:24):
c dt A hop on board withCDTA and explore the capital region. Their
routes far crisper than how we haverouted our way to the championship of the
NFL. They have over fifty routesconnecting you to what matters. Along with
the CDPHP cycle featuring e bikes andthe Drive electric car sharing program, great
for the environment, great to getwhere you're going. CDTA is what connects
(02:10:48):
us with a mobility menu to meetall menu is the word I couldn't say
there. To meet all of yourneeds, visit CDTA dot org or download
the Navigator app and get connected todaywith d T A far easier connections than
what we are making. All right, guys, I went first and everything
you want to give me your giveme your super Bowl winner. Who wins
the super Bowl? Okay, Ihave I have the Packers and the Chiefs
(02:11:13):
in this super Bowl. I wouldlove to think of an idea of a
rematch of super Bowl two, one, three, seven, five one.
I think it is one. Theoriginal super Bowl. Well, the stream
yelling on the sidelines, yeah, the first well, yeah, the the
NFL Championship game because it was stillcalled the super Bowl. Three. Three
is when they first actually called itthe super Bowl. I would find it
(02:11:37):
hard because two is the Raiders.Green Bay beat Casey, then they beat
then they beat o Ah. Okay. I would say that the super Bowl
will probably play it like every othersuper Bowl that Mahomes this one. Kansas
City will be trailing during the game, Green Bay will think of super Bowl
is on the way. Mahomes willlead a fourth quarter comeback and win the
MVP. Boom lame give us ahot take. Hot take, Tommy,
(02:11:58):
give us something better. I havethe Chiefs defeating the Green Bay Packers in
New Orleans on February ninth, twentytwenty five in Super Bowl fifty nine.
The Chiefs continue a great dynasty withanother victory. It is amazing that,
with how successful the forty nine Ersfranchise has been all time, that this
is kind of the Bridesmaid Bowl. This is that like Away's a bridesmaid,
(02:12:18):
never a bride Because Buffalo zero andfour in the Super Bowl. You mentioned
all the heartbreak against Kansas City noteven getting to the Super Bowl, then
you've got San Francisco, one ofthe historic greats. However, haven't won
the Super Bowl in forever. They'velost it to Kansas City twice to Baltimore.
I mean, come on, whathas to happen for you to get
