Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Allen County Commissioners are in the midst of the
budget process. They hope to have a budget presented to
department heads by December fifteenth, and when it comes to increases,
Commissioner Ceybert admits there isn't a lot of room for
that because county revenues have not grown over the last year.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
It is flat. The Budget Commission, which is represented by
the County Auditor, the County treasure and the County Prosecutor,
certified that of the one hundred and fifty sum sources
of revenues that support the general fund budget that we're
going to be right at the level we were last year,
and last year we approved a budget of about thirty

(00:41):
seven point five million dollars.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Cybert also said a little over sixty percent of the
county's budget comes from the county sales tax. Full SNAP
payments are now going out to recipients across Ohio. Yesterday,
the state Department of Job and Family Services announced food
assistance benefits were being distributed if it did following the
end of the federal government shutdown. Officials say those who

(01:05):
already received partial payments will be getting the remainder of
the normal payout for November, but an exact date for
receiving the funds has not yet been announced. Recipients can
check their balances using the connect Ebt app or the
Ohio Special Benefits self service portal. In Cincinnati, work has

(01:25):
begun on the Brent Spence Bridge project, which will transform
how I seventy five crosses the Ohio River, and the
city is now preparing to consider what types of new
buildings will go up on ten acres of vacant land
downtown when that project is done. The blueprints are expected
to be laid out next Tuesday at public meetings. The

(01:47):
Cincinnati Business Courier reports some of the plans show high
rise hotels, offices, stores and condos going in east of
pay Core Stadium, where the Bengals play. It's deer season
and Ohio and that means a higher potential for deer
related crashes. The Ohio State Highway Patrol has some advice.
They say sunrise and sunset are when deer are at

(02:10):
their most active on roadways. Swerving can cause more serious crashes,
such as hitting a tree or going off the road,
or at worst, entering oncoming traffic. The Highway Patrol says
when it comes to hitting a deer or trying to
avoid it, you should slow down and hit the deer
rather than swerving. Yesterday in Washington, President Trump signed an

(02:34):
executive order dealing with foster care. The First Lady is
leading an effort to improve job and education opportunities for
kids raised in foster care. Fox says. Jared Halpern has
more from the White House.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
President Trump signed an executive order launching the Fostering the
Future Program, an initiative spearheaded by First Lady Malania Trump
to help make the transition out of the foster care
system easier To gather.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
We will illuminate the pathway for today's foster children to
become tomorrow's builders.

Speaker 4 (03:07):

and private sector leaders to establish scholarships in mentorship programs
for foster care children at the White House, Jared Halpern

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
