Phillies brought to you by in theClutch, the only place to get your
T shirts, hoodies, head bandsin all sports apparel. I am currently
wearing the limited edition opening day shirtright now. It is an absolute heater,
one of my favorite shirts that I'veever got involving the Phillies. They
(00:23):
have all different teams. Whether youare a Phillies fan or not. I
hope you're a Phillies fan, butif you are not and you're still listening
to this, they probably have onefor your team as well. Along with
headbands, T shirts once again, hoodies, everything used code Arcaney Luke at
checkout for ten percent off your order. I am here tonight with John Janssen.
(00:45):
Yeah, a real baseball you havea real baseball guy. All right,
this is the eye that you meanwhen you say Luke and I me.
We're gonna talk a lot of baseball. We're gonna talk a lot of
hot You're gonna tell college basketball, college basketball, dayton mind and why they're
gonna lose out right tonight. That'sthat's the show today. But I put
(01:07):
out my favorite tweet that I putout every year today and it's said,
I want to hear your Phillies hottakes. I want one extremely hot take,
and I want a realistic one.One realistic one hot take. I
didn't see many realistic ones. No, a lot of them were more hot.
But granted, I like hot takesmore than cold takes. So we
(01:30):
are going to dive into those ina few minutes. But the Phillies are
just two weeks away from opening day. Hopefully this time, in the matter
of two weeks, we will beone to zero. Opening Day will be
ending just about right now in twothursdays from today, March twenty eighth,
hopefully Aaron Nola on the mound. We don't know exactly yet. It will
(01:51):
be either Nola or Wheeler, butreal quick freaking into these how you feeling
we're we are? We are soclose, we are so close to baseball.
Yeah, it's kind of weird knowingpositive about a lot of things,
because I mean, there are somethings I'm worried about. I'm worried about
the bullpen depth. I'm worried aboutthe depth of the starting rotation. But
still they're healthy right now. Youknow they're healthy in the bullpen. They're
starting rotations healthy. Zac Wheelers cominginto the year healthy. So is Aaron
(02:15):
Nola. The only thing Aaronola's comingto the year with is potentially being a
dad before the year starts, anda lot more money than he had last
year, and a lot more moneythan he had last year. But yeah,
even Ranger Suarez seems healthy. Idon't know, it does seem like
they're they're pitching staff, most ofthem are ready for the year. That's
always one thing I didn't like.Guys have been going deep into seasons,
deep into games all throughout the yearsin the past couple of years. I
(02:38):
mean, when you make deep runsinto the World Series like they have in
the NLCS, like they did lastyear, the arms feel the effect of
that the most. But for themost part, it feels like they're kind
of ready for it this year andthey feel much healthier heading into the year.
Yeah, I think they're ready forthe moment this year. I think
they want I think they're ready toget off to a hotter start. I
think they know that they can't golike twelve games is under five hundred in
(03:00):
May this year. They can't affordthat. They want to compete for this
division, whether they think they canwin it or not. That's a different
story with the Braves also in theNL East. But the Phillies don't want
to just keep going for the wildcardevery year, right, They want to
get least in it, like theywant to win the division. Like,
yeah, I want them to atleast be comfortable in the wildcard if it
(03:21):
happens. Look, if it happensthat you you win ninety five games and
the Braves win one hundred, sobe it. The Braves are a great
team. I get that. ButI just wanted to be comfortable this year.
It's it got a little uncomfortable lastyear. It definitely was uncomfortable a
couple of years ago before getting in. You know, I wouldn't want to
be in the wildcard. I know, we as the Phillies fans, and
seeing the Phillies in the wildcard dowell in the wildcard, beat the team
(03:42):
that got the bye week, butstill or whatever you call now, they
you know, they get out ofthe wildcard round into the divisional round.
I still think that is that isvaluable. That is good to have your
starters or whoever is hurt but armsresting instead of having to pitch two or
three games in the wildcard round.I do find value you and that I
just don't think it's gonna happen becausethe braces are so good. So to
(04:02):
me, the goal this year wouldjust be get comfortably in the wildcard.
Don't don't sneak in, don't getin by a few games, get in
comfortably, win ninety five games, maybe ninety seven, and then get into
the wildcard round, which I thinkthat there's a possibility that can do that.
I mean, they're gonna make theplayoffs, right, we know that,
I think, I think so unlesssome crazy collapse happens like this team
(04:27):
happen. Is if big injuries somethingstarted. Starting rotation injuries, I think
is where that could happen. Becausethe lineup can still be good. But
if you get even top of theline guys out for a good bit,
but the even the back end ofyour rotation is dealing with injuries, that's
really tough to be to be ableto deal with so many injuries to your
starting rotation staff. That is,I mean, that is ruined seasons before
for teams. It's been close toruining seasons for the Phillies recently in the
(04:51):
last two years. So hopefully thehealth is good enough. But that's the
only thing I could I could reallysee derailing it. They're they're the third
best team, I think in theNational League, and I think it's a
pretty clear thirteam. Yeah. Soon that note, let's get into some
hot takes. Hot take because letme tell you, we have a lot
of them. I feel like I'vehad some hot takes and there's so many
players to have hot takes about.Yeah, this is such a team that
(05:13):
I feel like there's guys that canhave a really big year and there's guys
that could have maybe a down year, And so let's dive into them.
The first one here for my boysat the Liberty Yell. Realistic, he
says, and this has been avery common one. Harper will hit forty
home runs after starting the season healthyand finally being a position that's less hacking
(05:35):
on the body. I think theHarper forty home run thing definitely has a
chance. He's done it once backin his twenty fifteen MVP season in Washington.
I think his next closest was thirtyseven. But I think if there's
a year to do it, Ithink a full healthy year not playing in
(05:58):
the outfield. I think this coulddefinitely be that year. Yeah, it
could be. I like him atfirst base. He seems to he seems
to get in a rhythm playing firstbase, So I do like that.
I think he enjoys playing in theinfield, enjoys playing at first. He's
a good first baseman, and we'veseen it all the time, good defensive
play and a good bat. Youknow, when everything's going well with you,
then you know you start excelling inso many areas. So I think
(06:21):
it's a really good thing that BryceHarper is at first base. I think
again, I think that is arealistic one. He'll be close to that.
I think it'll at least be IfI gave a ballpark range of where
he's gonna be, I think it'sabout thirty eight to forty two humes.
Yeah, where he's going to be, So forty sounds good. So I
mean, and if we do likethat, his home run total is still
(06:41):
at like thirty and a half rightnow on draft kills, So if we
do like it really just comes downto hell exactly if he stays healthy,
he's he's gonna hit over thirty.It's it's pretty it's that So yeah,
because the last time he had afull season, which was one hundred and
forty one games in twenty twenty onetwo years ago, didn't have a full
season, played ninety nine games.Last year only played one hundred and twenty
six thirty. The last time hehad a full season thirty four. That
(07:05):
year it was home runs thirty fivethirty five. So he's gone, he's
gone. He's gone over thirty anda half. Yeah, if he's healthy,
he's gonna go on with the number. So he's been really consistently if
he's playing a full season, notinjured at all, he plays about one
hundred and forty to one hundred andfifty games. He has been essentially mid
thirties. So I think he's atleast that. But then you get the
(07:26):
really good season of home run hittingand you get forty two, which I
think I think you are going tosee one of his better home run season.
Yea. So they also had Wheelerfinishes year as a top five pitcher
in baseball. He already is Ithink he already is stranted. I think
you could say like overall baseball strikeoutsthing like that, but top five sounds
good. Top five, I meanhe's in my opinion's top three right now,
(07:48):
and then hot take Mick Abel's aPhilly by June and finishes and Rookie
of the Year talk. I thinkthat depends on the health of the rotation.
I don't think I don't see anyfive of these guys even the rotation
unless they're hurt. Maybe Christopher Sanchezif he's not having the year we think
he's going to. Even though Ithink he's I think he's gonna have a
(08:09):
really big year. I don't seeAble really having a spot just yet.
I don't think he's ready just yet. I think if he has a good
first three months in Triple A,I think he could make I think Mick
Abel's going to pitch for this teamat some point this season. Yeah,
I don't know what I don't know, and I don't know if if,
(08:30):
if it'll be bullpen in the playoffs. I don't know if it'll be a
last resort long reliever towards September.I I don't see it being by June,
but if Walker, Sanchez or evenRanger Wheeler Nola. If if any
of one of those guys goes downand Abel looks good, I think they
(08:50):
may give him a shot. Yeah, they will. It was definitely from
what I've seen from spring training.Obviously it's not a lot, and I
can't take away just a few pitchesin spring training to uh, you know,
entire sample sizes of minor league playand the things that he's done.
But there's there's some things to workon still. That's not a polished picture.
Yeah, location and commander, bigproblems and that stuff. You know,
(09:11):
you can fix as you work yourway towards the major leagues. But
it's it's something that he's gonna haveto fix before he does that. So
I I don't know. I whenI saw him, I looked at the
picture that definitely has the stuff,Like I see why he's the number forty
ninth prospect in baseball. He's gotgrossed. I mean, he made he
made, he made mon so toalook silly. Definitely good stuff, but
it just needs needs to be polishedup a little bit more of a short
(09:33):
half. I don't think he's anywhereready right now. I think I don't
think, so give him half ofthis year. Realistically, I would say
by the the end of the year, once you got to August. I
mean, best case scenario, yourtwenty twenty five rotation is yeah, yeah,
you'ler Nola Suarez able painter. Yeah. I find that realistic. I
find that realistic. Five but right, But I find it realistic that Abel
(09:54):
is on that trajectory. But tome, his trajectory really is he gets
some innings in late August early September, and that's really it. I don't
I don't see him coming. Imean, it's a hot take. We
asked for hot takes, so that'sa hot take. I love it,
but I don't know if I thatwould be my hot take. Cool,
but I'm yes. Next up Aj R. Kany It's good last name.
I wonder who that is. ThePhillies will have one hundred and fifty
(10:18):
steals as a team. Talk aboutof steels guys that would require who would
be the one that has to stealbases? Because we know Trey Turner,
who's the wild card one that's gonnahave to steal bases? Uh? Because
we know it's gonna be Turner. We know it's gonna be a lot of
rows. Marsh Marshallah Marsh. IfMarsh could get twenty five stolen bases,
(10:41):
I don't know what he's had inBryce Harper only gets about ten or more.
See, but the thing is Bryce, like you would think Bryce has
more the way he like runs aroundthe basics with his head carts with hell
aggressive. Yes, you would thinkso, Marsh had I don't want to
know they Marsh last year had ten. So if he could give me like
(11:03):
seven or eight more this year, maybe, Marsh. I think one fifty
may be a tad high. Granted, if you get forty from Trey and
thirty five from Stott, that's alreadyyour halfway there. Turn it then completely.
It depends on how many bags Rojaswould steal. And I think that
Rojas obviously has to play a fullseason for that, and that question still
(11:26):
is is out there. I mean, and if Rojas plays one hundred and
forty games, so he's probably gonnasteal almost fifty bags, like he's he
is going to steal all the dome. So if he's out there for one
hundred and thirty five hundred and fortygames, so the Phillies, so this
is a is a decent number. The Phillies had one hundred and forty one
(11:46):
last year. They got thirty oneout of Bryson Scott, they got thirty
out of Trey Turner, sixteen outof Real Muto, and they got fourteen
in just what fifty four games playedfor Rojas. Yeah, so that's the
one that jumps up. I don'tthink Castis had eleven, probably not Harper
what a short rep? Two?Three? Gosh? No, wait,
(12:07):
I think you had more last yearor did he not have any? I
don't know if any he had none? He had none. No, had
a couple one of the plain WestonWilson had three. Okay, Weston,
I think one of them was thenight that he had the horme run on
his Really the big one for that, it's gonna be rice Is not even
(12:28):
get on makes more and continue thatbecause this average as good as on on
base percentages. All right, Sothirty one and thirty from Yeah, it
could be close. It could beclose. I don't hate that one.
I don't hate hundred and fifty.I mean because is probably gonna go over
twenty. And that's saying everybody stealsthe same amount of bags, and and
you have Rojas out there for ahun just look before. I don't think
(12:50):
Muto is going to steal as manybags this year. At some point he's
gonna slow down. He's damn catchers. I keep saying that, and then
he's right. Then he's still great. His knees aren't shot. He was
he was. He was always ashort stop. He was. The thing
is, even if there's a dipwith real Muto, Rojas is looking to
take a huge jump. Yeah.Uh, Jose Alvarado finishes as a top
(13:13):
three relead on baseball, stuff isthere. Stuff is just didn't good.
As long as he as long asno injuries. I think the era is
there, the whips there, especiallythe strikeouts. Yeah, I'm fine with
that. I like that. Uh, and the hot tag. Harper hits
more home runs than shoreb oh,so that would mean that would mean Schworber
(13:35):
would have to cut five to sixhome runs off of his home run and
hope Harper would have to hit youknow, his average usually when he full
season thirty five, he would haveto hit five to six more. So
it's dying into the Harper forty homerun year. It's still close. And
because you're you have to buy, because I I could buy into both of
(13:56):
these things, but you're you're gonnahave to buy into two things happening.
Schwarbur not well this year, whichI do buy into that. I think
gorg Yeah, I think Sharber isgonna finally hit some some rough patch but
no, he was still be fine. But I don't think he's gonna hit
the home runs he has been. But then Bryce Harper's gonna have to to
hit a lot more home runs thanhe has, so it could. But
those are things. I mean,it's take. No, it's a hot
(14:20):
take. You that's a hot takeI could think could happen. We haven't
gotten too hot yet. Trust me, we are gonna get on some of
these. They've been hot, butthey haven't been uh like the ones that
are further down on this list.Uh, Bryce and Schwarber combined for ninety
home runs. That's from my boyDJ. That requires forty five each.
(14:45):
That's a lot. And that's andthat wasn't even his hot take. That
was realistic. I love it.I may not love the take, but
I love the Uh. I loveit. Might need to hit fifty for
that might have to hit fifty. No, I don't know, ken can
it happened. YEAHO Swarmer has Swarmever hit fifty now? He couldn't he
(15:09):
Forty seven is his highest last year, and that he's been hitting is too
highest. His home run Yeah, his home run numbers have been That's why
I'm saying at some point, Ithink he's gonna dip down. Yeah,
but his home run numbers with thePhillies have been wildly through the roof.
Yeah. I don't think he's hittingfifty now. We did. He would
have paid fifty for that to happen. That was the realistic take. WHOA,
(15:35):
that's hot. Yeah, hey, okay, okay, we asked for
otics. We did. He alsosaid we have multiple winner, just one
stot J. T. Rojas.I like all. I like all three
of them. Yeah, I thinkyou can maybe even throw a fourth in
there, Ranger, Manger, Rangerif he has enough innings. Wheel could
Wheeler might win it again. Idon't know how Zach Wheeler won. I
like the gol club last year.Really this one? No, I do
(15:58):
like this one. I like thatone a lot. And then hot take.
The Philly starters have the lowest ERAof any MLB. So let's see
tim on Walker and Christopher Sanchez, don't tank it. Sure their starters are
going to be so much better. So they were they were fifteenth last year.
(16:18):
That number, to me, reliesall on Walker the entire number.
Man, you can't have one starterover a four or five if you man,
if you want to lead the leaguein the RA, do you trust
Christopher Sanchez? And I do Andand we're gonna get to my take on
(16:38):
Sanchez later, my pretty hot takeon Sanchez. Later you have a hot
take on Sanchez. Oh, we'regonna be two different very people on Christopher
the Sanchiz Just kidding, Mark HenryJr. The Phillies have two players finish
in the top five of both mVP and cy Young. I mean,
yeah, you right off the top, you think Wheeler, Nola and Harper
(17:00):
Tray. I don't hate it.I don't hate that at all, considering
I've been saying kind of for weeksthat I think, Well, if I'm
saying I like Bryce and Trey Afor MVP, I also really like Wheeler.
I already have money on Wheeler towin cy Young, Well, yeah
that's gonna maybe. But yeah,I do think that they have two capable
(17:22):
players in each MVP and zim votingto do that. I think that is
that is very good. Mark alsosaid that Bryce and Stott will be the
third most valuable position player on theteam, above J. T. Nick,
Schwarber, Bohm and Marsh meaning Iwould assume his list would go Bryce,
Harper and Trey Turner as the toptwo. So he was saying Harper
(17:45):
and Turner two and then Stott asthe third most valuable hitter on the team.
You share, You're gonna need Stottto have so much more nout.
That's the thing, Stott. Ifyou want that out of Stott, the
ops to go up like seven, right, his slugging is going to be
He's got to hit the homers, that's the thing. And it's that's kind
(18:07):
of the question not really with him, because he doesn't need to hit a
ton of homers to be great. He's he's already an unbelievable hitter. I
mean he's defensive. I mean,is that just including defensively their most viable
position player on the team. Heguess it means it means defense. I
mean, Bryson Scott led the teamin war last year, Bryon, But
(18:29):
I mean you have I only likewar when it helps my take. I
even don't like it, then Ihate. I actually hate when it helps
my take. Kyle ser bad warbad, War bad. I don't care
bad for the take. Aaron KnowlesF four over the last four years,
really good for the take. ButBryson Stott, I would need to see
that seven forty seven o ps.I need to see that the jump if
(18:49):
he's going to be the third bestposition player that has to go in NBIA
at least seven eighty. I don'thate it. I don't think it'll be
the case, but I think hecould definitely be maybe the fourth. Yeah,
it could because it just I'm veryhigh on JT. It just he
(19:11):
could he jump over JT or Nick? And I think the answer would be
yes, he could jump over oneof j T or Nick. Yeah,
he could jump over both. I'mnot saying you can't, but you're you're
asking then for his power numbers tobe a lot better than they have.
Yeah, realistic number one from Tom. The Phillies will move Swarm out of
the leadoff and benefit greatly from it. I think they are going to have
(19:33):
to make some type of evolution somewhere. Things. It can't just they can't
just do the same things they've beendoing for the last two years and think
that it's just going to be thesame automatically this year. I think that
is the number one thing for meis Surever at some point will be out
of the leadoff spot. I don'tknow how long, but he won't be
leading off as much as he hasbeen. If the Phillies win the division
(19:55):
game, one of the nlds atcitizens back, who's going to be the
lead off hitter by that Well,if Mark Henvery Junior is telling me Bryson
Stott's top three position play and it'sprobably Bryson Stott right to be Bryson Stott,
and that's who I want it tobe before try because we talked earlier,
I love trying the two hole.I don't I don't want try to
go anywhere else. If Bryson Stotttakes another jump, he matures is a
(20:19):
hitter. He's still a really goodhitter. If that on base percentage up
like fifteen, But yeah, BrysonStott to me is a typical seven eight
nine guy. You know you wonhim in the bottom of your lineup.
But if the power starts to come, his on base percentage even gets a
little bit better too, because hisaverage is good, but his on base
is just fine for where his averageis at. But I I think if
those things jump a little bit,Bryson Stott's a leadoff guy. He is
(20:42):
like the like the definition of alead off hitter. But that is I
think that's one of the bigger questionsabout Stott coming into the year. How
how big of a leap does hetake? What kind of player is he
in the major leagues? Because nowis when we start finding that out.
By the way, this is theyear we start finding out what truly is.
And it's fine if this is theway he is for the rest of
his career, He's still It's abaseball player you would have in your lineup
(21:04):
all the time, nine times outof ten, fits in every lineup perfect
exactly. He fits in every lineupperfectly. But it's just where in the
lineup is he going to be?What kind of battery is he going to
be? And I think you figurethat out this year. And if you
figure out he he is very goodand he takes leaps even what he has
been, then yeah, I thinkyou start thinking lead off with him.
(21:26):
And I've been one who's very adamanton Kyle shop getting off, but that's
not going to be there forever, and his home run numbers aren't going to
be there for us. And ifyou're saying he's he's going to have a
regression, then with a regression,we'll probably be having a lineup change.
Yes, correct. Next is thePhillies. Starting pitching will be better than
last year, but the bullpen willbe worse. I could see that.
(21:48):
I could see that just because theylost starting stays healthy. And I know
everybody hates Craig. They created him. Craig won them probably about six to
seven games last year. Like they'rethey're that wildcard hunt last year is a
lot is a lot closer without Craig. Throw what happened out the window in
(22:10):
the playoffs for five seconds, likeif if if he was not on that
team last year and they rolled withall the other guys that they had minus
Craig, they are a little morein the hunt for the wildcard and not
necessarily cruising in. So I cansee that. I think that depends with
the Ryan kirkering. I think itdepends on Gregor Risota. Those are the
two hawt Is he gonna be kenHoffman do this for a full season as
(22:33):
probably the number three guy in theBULLPENZ and Anthony Dominguez get back a twenty
two Dominguez can Alvarado continue to nominate. Will they have a one closer?
But I feel better that the startingpitching staff can stay healthier this year.
I feel good about the bullpen.I still wish they got one more.
Oh yeah, I think they gotone more because I think we said that
(22:56):
all year last year, and Ithink it haunted us in the playoffs last
year. Oryan Kirkering shouldn't have hadto pitch in the playoffs. Well,
the thing is, the domino effectwould be you get another starter, Christopher
Sanchez goes in the bullpen. Ifeel great about the bullpen, granted,
and if you get there and andby September and maybe Able looks great,
McGarry looks great, and and hopefullyif they need it, and then they'll
(23:19):
get one at the deadline and thenhis hot tag Harper will be MVP runner
up. I mean, yeah,I think that's yeah, there's a really
good chance of that happening. Iknow, yeah, it's good. Uh.
Next from Johnny Trey Turner is anMVP candidate like that. I think
we kind of said that. Ihaven't only been saying that since last year.
I believe he is what I seein that last time where were we
(23:42):
at MLB he was sporting shorter sides. Yeah, I think he was around
there. M v P Trey Turnerstwenty two to one right now, Yeah,
I would say that's he's behind uhRonald Acunya, Mookie Betts, Show,
Tani Ferndo, Tatis, Brice Harper, Freddy Freeman, Matt Olsen,
Manny Machado, and UHB and Carroll. Other than that, it is Tree.
(24:06):
See I like that Wheeler wins cyYoung. Yeah, like I I
have my ticket in. I thinkif Wheeler gets this, like this other
pitch that he's like working on now, he's Wheeler's got like five pitch Arsenal
now like it's it's going to begross. If if it were like so,
(24:30):
he's going to be He's going tobe gross. He's so gross.
So yeah, I buy it.Uh Hot take Phillies don't contend for division
at all and get last wildcard spotagain. Don't worry, they obviously will
beat the brazen now at THES forthe third year, in a row.
I don't know, just because theNational League's so bad, if the Phillies
(24:52):
are fighting for the third wildcard spot, they're not going to be good enough
to get in. That means somethingwent wrong, correct, somebody was going
going wrong. Someone one of BryceHarper, Trey Turner or Zach Wheeler is
out for Yeah. I don't thinkthey'll be fighting for the last wildcard spot.
They're I desire it. They're notgoing to contend for the division.
I don't think they have the startingrotation to do it. Yeah, I
(25:15):
don't think it'll be able to holdup strongly enough through one hundred and sixty
two games. But that doesn't meanthat they're not going to be good.
That doesn't mean again, they couldwin ninety five games and not contend for
the division. That's just how goodthe Braves are and be out by like
twelve games, right exactly. Imean, that's that's how crazy good the
Braves are this year. So Iget that first part of it. The
second part, I don't know.I do think they they will firmly be
(25:37):
in a wildcard spot. Next wehave Kyle shuber Drives in one hundred and
twenty, whoa by eventually hitting.Everybody's on big Kyle Schuber stuff I eventually
hitting because he's already had two ofhis biggest years of the Phillies. He
also had Trey Turner leads the leaguein average crazy that he in year what
(25:57):
he came in the league twenty two, his year seventh and eighth No nine
years. So his eighth and ninthyears are his two best years ever in
the major leagues. His agent like, fine, one, I done,
Dans. I mean, I getthat, but at some point he's not
gonna hit those number, has heever? I mean, he had one
(26:18):
hundred and four last year. Thatwould tenny years where where some of the
other numbers. And this is thething, if if, if he does
get moved to the four and thehome runs stay, and I think he
has a good chance because now youhave Harper on base, you have Traun
back. But obviously, like yousaid, the only way of him getting
to that number is by going inthe four hole. He will never have
one hundred and twenty, right, and not because you're gonna have a spot.
(26:45):
He also had Trade Leeds League inaverage three thirty five and scores one
hundred and fifteen runs. Yeah, actually I think it. I mean,
I if I'm predicting Trey Turner tohave an MVP type season, that's that's
what needs to happen. Straight. So his highest average he's ever hit was
three twenty eight. No I liedthree thirty eight. No I lied again
(27:08):
three thirty five in the COVID year, So we're so we're not could count
that. Yeah, So highest wasa three twenty eight. That was totally
I think he's gonna have a careeryear. That was total in twenty twenty
one, he had three hundred andnineteen total bases. Uh and the and
the highest amount of runs he's everscored was one hundred and seven. That
(27:29):
was the same year. So ifyou think that it is going to be
the career year, then I buythat. And then he said, Harper
HiT's forty home runs. We kindof ran through that already. H next,
Harper wins MVP, has a fullyhealthy season. I buy it.
I'm in Bryson Stock continues a strongplay and he makes the NL All Star
Game. Oh, I like that. That would require him to beat out
(27:53):
Ozzie Alby's for the first half ofthe year. Granny could get in as
a resurve, but I think youhave to hit home runs a get in
as a research so it's it's it'sgonna need to be a big start for
stop get into very hot. Herewe go. This is okay, We're
(28:15):
going from zero to hunter. ChristopherSanchez finishes top three and Cy Young off
ticking vlo in a great off seasonreally helps him develop into a great young
picture. Somebody proceeded to reply,if Christopher to the SANCHI Sanchez finishes top
three and Cy Young voting, Iwill run through the streets of Kensington naked.
I don't know what I would do, but I'll bet that I know
(28:38):
something. I would do something. No chance, I'll shave my head if
you finish your head. If hefinishes top three side Young, I will
cut every single piece of arrow.Okay, that's fine. I mean I
shaved my head in a while. It's not gonna happen. I'll straight,
you know what, not shave inlike, I'll go three or four.
(28:59):
I'm a ball, I'm a ballbald top three Sion will go I'll go
ball, all right, yeah, because it's not happening. Don't make any
deal. You can you can dowhat everyone I can do the gorosest thing
in the world, and he's notgonna happen. I'll go, I'll go
bald. I'll go Sean Bray Shinebald. If that happens, the Daily
take hit the three headed Goat, all of us are bald. You imagine
that bald. I don't have enough. I feel like, if you're a
(29:23):
bald man, you have to havefacial hair. I can't do any so
I'm just gonna look like a Yeah. Next, I look like the Harkindians
in Dune. If that happens, just watch Dudent one the other night,
just so I'm prepared to go nicee. I hate the hijack. I had
a little projector in my backyard.Friends, as you're watching everybody take control
(29:48):
of spice in that world, I'msorry. We have Trey and Bright and
both finish with an average over twoninety. I dig it. I think
Bryson Stott's gonna hit three ten thisyear. And if you think both can
finish three hundred. If you thinkTrey, I think they could both hit
(30:10):
over three ten. If I'm buyinginto a career here from Trey, and
I think Bryson's gonna hit all ofthese. Guy Wheeler finished his top three
cy young dig it. I thinkhe's gonna win it. Yeah, Hot,
Bryce wins his first gold Glove.I already bet Bryce to win gold
Glove. I found some random sportsbook that that that had gold glove.
Odds give me that, and Itook it. I want that to do
(30:30):
it. I do. That's fantasticstuff. Yeah, Harpers flashed Elite Glove
Elite Club. Have we ever seenhim? Has he had like maybe any
mistakes he had at first? Iknow he's probably had like a few errors.
There was there was a there wasthere was one ball versus the d
backs that he should have just wentto first. Let Bryson have it.
But it's it's it's I feel likemost of the time the same the the
(30:52):
the mistakes that Bryce is making isfrom inexperience and not from lack of skill.
Right, It's it's but I feellike he's so comfortable there that he's
still not making those he's making andhe's making the flashy play. He's making
so many. He's catching every linedrive, he's getting every pick. Let's
just not jump into the Let's justjump into the stands to catch a ball.
(31:14):
So let's see how many gold glovesare we gonna have Bryce Rojas if
he stays up ninety games, definitelyg T. Yeah, yeah, Rojas,
Bryce. Maybe that's where JT regressesa little bit. Stop because didn't
we start to see that last year'sdefensively regressed. Well, stot be just
(31:34):
gonna throw so many people out thoughhe does every year. His his colt
stealing numbers just don't get worse. Will close five, they will have five
potential. They at least went threeRangers should I don't know if they're ranger
needs the innings the innings last yearbecause he is by far the best fielding
(31:56):
and he's the most calm, cooland collected fielder, and wilds the next
Cliff Ley out there fielding like that. Next up, we have Zach Wheeler
win Cy Young with a sub twoseventy five e r A dig it uh
over two hundred strikeouts dig it andone hundred and ninety innings dig it.
I don't think you can win CyYoung with any less than one hundred and
ninety innings, so I dig ituh. Trey Turner goes uh thirty home
(32:21):
runs, thirty stolen bases, allwhile not being caught stealing. I dig
it. I don't think he gothe got caught one time last year.
Do you like over thirty home runsby the way, I'm on, I
liked his over he he didn't getcaught one time last year, So yeah,
I liked his over in his homerun props. I love you.
Yeah, I dig all those hot, hot, hot, hot take.
(32:43):
Phillies. Phillies win NL East byfive plus games over the Braves. Phillies
ninety eight and sixty four, Bravesninety three and sixty nine. Uh nice,
Braves need a a massive injury forthat to happen. And like,
honestly, I'm not gonna on aroof. They lost an MVP player one
year and then they won the freakingWorld Series. That's how deep they are.
(33:07):
And there's still that deep and they'vegot in the division. It's gonna
come down probably a game one sixtyit will, and they even have a
chance. See. The thing is, the hot take is the Phillies are
winning ninety eight games there. Ifthey win ninety eight games, they're probably
gonna be a game or two back. They could be close, but they
Oh man, it's tough, it'sit's a very hard. I have a
(33:30):
hard time not seeing the Brads winningone hundred games next two. I do
like the Phillies ninety eight. That'sa that's how I take and get behind.
I'll give them that. I'll givethem that ninety eight. If there
was a hot take, if theyget off to a five hundred start,
they can win one hundred games.Yeah, I like that they can.
It's just a matter of how manythe I'll take that. I'll take that
(33:52):
part of it. The Braves ninetythree. They would have to be so
much that goes wrong for the Brasso that that happened more here and then
we're getting out of here. ThePhillies win NL East. That's another one.
Zack Wheeler wins, Cy Young Harperwins MVP. That's from VAT in
two thousand and eight. Pretty whateverthere, uh, Andrews says. The
Phillies win the division once again. The Braves have to lose a lot of
(34:13):
games this year for that to happen. Zack Wheeler, Cy Young Bryson stopping
to study. No, he wouldhe would have to hit twenty five to
thirty. Yes, he's gonna haveto hit twenty five home runs and have
like a nine to fifty ops happen, and that's not I don't think his
ops is gonna go up two hundredpoints. Man two hundred points, that'd
(34:37):
be nuts. That means happy. Then the Phillies are winning one hundred games,
then fine, we're gonna we're gonnawin the NLE East if that happens.
If you have another hitter like thatBryson Stott wins MVP, they're gonna
win one hundred and five games.Because I could say Turner and Harper elite
hitters. If you then get athird elite hitter, sure, but whoa
yeah, And I think this isa good one to end on off with
(35:00):
this last one. We have aTrego's thirty thirty. Ranger finishes top five.
Cy Young, No, I likeRanger two, but no, Ranger
that was really good the first yearwhat he did. I don't think he's
that kind of pitcher. I thinkhe's a because he doesn't have a strikeout
numbers, which you need strikeouts. That's something you know, those strikeout the
(35:22):
walk ratio is something people use canbe good like. I think a great
year, an amazing year for RangerSuarez would be about a three eight.
A good year I think for himis a low four four four point one
e RA. If he finishes fourpoint one, I'm that's awesome. I
think Ranger Suarez pitched well, butI don't know if that that's good enough.
(35:45):
A three eighty RA with you know, however many strike cuts. Yes,
it isn't gonna be enough his hisother numbers, because cra is not
gonna finish below a three ever ayet that will never ever happen again for
Rangers. Below a three yeah, two's yeah, like at two point eight,
two point two point five, that'snever gonna happen again. But if
it does, he's never gonna happenagain. Don't don't put that thoughts on
(36:09):
the head Luke trying to be Hey, you're the Ranger boy over here,
I'm the Ranger guy. I likeRanger A ton rangered inger Johan Rojas has
a brutal season and he's traded atthe deadline for a big piece. I
don't know if he'd be traded, but he'd be he'd probably be in the
minor leagues well at that point.See here's my thing with that though,
(36:30):
because I don't I don't agree withthe Rojas has a brutal season. But
I don't agree that if he hasa brutal season, he may get traded.
And here's why. If he's havinga brutal season, then that probably
means that you're getting a good yearfrom Christian Pace. So if they're around
the same age and you don't thinkthe defensive gap is insanely big, which
(36:54):
is not, you can try andLoure a big piece because of Rojas's defense.
Will I think they do it?No, I don't think that'll happen.
But I think it's more likely ifhe has a terrible year that they
trade him than just leave him inthe miners because he's doing you no good.
(37:14):
If he's down in Triple A,Oh, there is depth, but
that's what I that's what I wouldkeep him down for, is that because
you don't have a lot of depthin center field. No, so you
would keep Rojas, but he wouldhe'd be a minor league candidate. Then
he'd go back down to the miners. Granted, I don't think this is
going to happen to I don't either, So I think he's gonna have a
(37:35):
better year. I think everybody needsa relax on the ROAs stuff. I
think it's just insanely overblown. He'sa nine hole hitter. He struggles a
little bit. He hit three hundredin the regular season last year, and
I agree, and he's not gonnahit three hundred over his career. But
you throw a guy who has likeforty career of bats into the playoffs two
face Braxton Garrett, Jes LUs Lozzardo, Spencer Strider, Max free Zach Gallon,
(38:00):
Merril Kelly, and Brandon Fott,Like, what do you expect he
has like thirty kids? These areall stunt He has like forty career.
That's four guys that can win acy young. And also when you first
hit your struggles as a major leaguerin the playoffs in that environment, no,
(38:21):
no way, Rojas never had achance to go into Arizona and get
a big hit. You don't havea chance that. That was really when
he started to struggle big time andfirst hit that. I think you everybody
hits a rookie wall at some point, and that happened to him probably the
worst time you could haven't been SoI don't take too much into account with
that. I think he'll be goodthis year and again he doesn't need to
(38:42):
have unbelievably overwhelming numbers. He's anine hole hitter. Anything you get from
a nine hole hitters fine. Andhis defense is good enough that he kind
of lived with whatever. Yeah, all right, I have my last two.
If you want to fire one offand then we're out of here,
I have. I'm gonna take realMuto to have his best season as a
Philly. I think this biomechanic labswitch is like real. I think I
(39:09):
think this is a real thing.I think they truly found something in his
swing. He looks as confident asI've ever seen him right now in spring
training. I still think the legsare fresh. I don't think he's regressing
just yet. I think maybe ayear or two down the line, I
think you're gonna start seeing that. And I think JT is a player that
when he regresses, he will regresshard. Yeah, it's gonna happen quick,
(39:32):
but I don't think it's this year. I think he has a really
good year, and I have GregorySoto finished his regular season with the second
best e RA in the bullpen.I think his stuff is real, Like
his stuff is legit, and likehis off speed makes people look stupid.
Is he Jose Alvarado good? No? Do. I think he has the
(39:57):
chance to be a Jose Alvarado twoif he gets rid of the blow up
innings. Absolutely. I think hisstuff and and his off speed and that
fastball, Oh my god, whenit is on, that fastball is so
gross. He paints it outside cornerevery single time he puts it down down
and in on right. He's atthe knees so much, and when it's
sitting there, it's so good.I think it's a big year for Soto.
(40:22):
I think all he has to dois get rid of these blow up
innings. He had five of themlast year. If you take away the
blow up inning, he had atwo point one two ERA last year.
Like, that's Jose Alvarado good, especially with the strikeouts, because if you
take that away, his CADA nineis gross. Yeah, I think he's
gonna he's definitely gonna be better. He had five, he had five outings
with overs. I believe it wasthree earned runs last year. If you
(40:46):
take those away his strikeout the nineratio was absolutely disgusting. And my last
one, I think Harper wins goldGlove and I think Bryson Stott hits and
I think Bryson Stott hits above threefifteen. I think he is top yeah
seven in the league in batting averageby the end of one sixty two.
(41:09):
Okay, I think he's just ahitter. And like Bryson Stott is a
baseball player. Like he he isjust a gamer. He's a baseball player.
And I know everybody on the Philliesis a baseball player, but real
ones know the definition of a baseballplayer. Yes, Bryson Stott, Yeah,
(41:30):
he finds. He finds hits whereverthey are. He's not he's not
looking for one pitch. There's likeone at bat a game where it's like
a nine to ten pitch a bat. He he just finds his way on
base. So I think Bryson Stott'sgonna have a top seven batting average in
the entire MLB. Okay, Ilike that. It's solid. Hot take.
I'm gonna go. My only oneis just Aeronola. I think he
(41:52):
finished his top three Aeronola. He'son and off every year. I thought
he found something at the end oflast year. I think he starts off
well. This is gonna be avery good year for Aaron Nola not a
career year because his career year happened. What eighteen it was. I don't
think he's gonna reach that, buthe his strike ut number is gonna be
good enough. He'll finish very lowthrees. I think e Ra he's to
(42:14):
me, he finishes like a threeto one, three two, and it
maybe could finish lower than that. But I think it's gonna be in the
hunt if he's around right, ifhe's around that number, he's gonna be
in the hunt. Because his strikeout the walk race, HEO is going
to be ridiculous if that happens. So yeah, I think he can do
that. Final thoughts, Go Phils, Go Phills. We got fourteen days
once this is out on Spotify. The audience, Luke at I audience got
