the Phillies ended up losing a seriesin Colorado and now have lost back to
back ball games for quite some time, first time and quite some time all
the way back to Cincinnati when theylost their last series. So the good
news is this is what it's allabout. When you get a number one

horse in your rotation, and ZachWheeler is exactly that, because your number
one will step out there and putan into whatever skid or bump that the
Phillies are going through. At thispoint in time, for the most part,
again, everything is is fixable.We're gonna talk a little bit more

out with what we witnessed yesterday inthe Bay though, Luke, because I
put my head down for a minute. Next thing, I would sat the
four like this team was competing.That tends to happen when Taiwan Walker pitches.
It's it can snap snap within theblink of an eye. Is that
from yesterday? Is that Taiwan Walkerwas on the mound? Yeah, just

just he's just he's just getting hitreally hard. Yeah, it's at any
ball that that the opposing team makesmakes contact off of Walker just feels like

knocked them around a bit. It'sjust he just hasn't looked great. I
can't sit here and say I thinkwill turn it around, because I don't.
I just I think this is whatTaiwan Walker is. I think he'll

fun five sick innings. But hey, yesterday, I mean that kind of
came down to the offense also notbeing great as well. Yesterday all wasn't
just on Taiwand that is correct,and the one thing we do know going
back to that first series against theGiants earlier this month at Custins Bank Park,
Taiwan Walker pitched six and a thirdagainst the Giants I believe ended up

getting a win in that game aswell, five to four final scores.
So look, I think it's reallyeasy to look at it and trust your
eyes. Right like yesterday, hewas absolutely getting barreled up and it seemed
like the balls were high on thezone and even if they were away,
there's not much guessing by these hitters. Tywe. Walker doesn't have the gas,

he doesn't have the stuff, andhe's just a guy that's gonna go
out there and eat innings, andyou hope he can keep it in the
ballyard and a little bit lower thanfour or five runs. Let's just put
it that way, get the ballto the bullpen and go from there.
But again, as you pointed out, eight to four, not all exactly
on the pitching staff again, fourruns out there in San Francisco, a

what the Phillies did in Colorado aswell, let's just bring that into the
equation because this is a team thathas been roping the ball all over the
place and in two out of thethree games and to the losses against Colorado,
they scored two runs in Colorado,which is really hard to do.

What was your takeaway from that?Is it just a matter of ebbs and
flows in the season. What didyou like what didn't you like from that
series against Colorado? Yeah, thisone felt like sort of the schedule makers
kind of chalking in a Phillies losingstreak about five six months ago. Historically
the two worst stadiums the Phillies playbaseball in our Course Field and Oracle Park.

Wow. So to put those twoback to back that it's been a
bit tough. You would think likea lineup like this that goes into Course
Field would just roll right this altituderight, any ball you hit hard has
a chance to go out, andand it just didn't. Obviously, the

the of the Harper home run latein the game. That was an awesome
way that was. That was areally awesome win. The other two not
so much. Only four runs combinedin the two losses in Colorado after having
a I believe a seventeen game stretchwhere they scored four more runs in a

I think it's sort of just oneof those dud West Coast road trips.
And it's funny because they actually goinginto this rocky series. Did they won
their last eleven games against the NLWest. Uh? They did. They've
been they've been playing really well againstthe NL West over the last you know,
at the beginning of the season andgoing back into last season. And
I mean, listen, sometimes youthat's the beauty of the sport, right.

I Mean, Walker talked yesterday afterhis start and he said that's the
best he's felt all year, andit was one of the worst starts he's
had. Like that's just kind ofhow baseball is, like you can you
can feel great and play bad,and you can feel terrible and great.

I do think tonight is a reallygood opportunity to get back on track.

the Unior Marte trade a few yearsback. But I just think right Zach
Wheeler on the mound lineup gets itgoing again against a lefty. I think
they got a good chance to getsome runs back on the board that I

was your takeaway from Rangers start therewith the hiccups. Yeah, he just

didn't have it. A location wasn'tthere, didn't really seem like he had
a good feel first pitches. ButI mean he allowed three hits, four
and runs and four walks in hise RA as a one seven like that's
still pretty nasty, no, Imean, just kind of a one of
those dud games to Rangers. Wheelerhad one down in Miami like a few

weeks ago. It's just some thingsyou just don't have your stuff right there
that there's clearly did though. Ninestrikeouts, yeah, right, and and
he did and he sort of gotit late, but he did kind of
get knocked around early, right,I mean that first inning single homer right,

those first two innings, but definitelya it's a bit of a rough start.

start off your day, it's gonnabe a little hard for your team to

range that you can't really take,you know, much stock into. It's

like it was going to be areally long day for the Phillies. There's

first two innings. I think hehad what one, two, three,
four strikeouts in the first two innings, I think, and then obviously the
big Schwarber home run in the thirdkind of led him away. I think
after that kind of got on theboard with Rojas and then Schwarber. I

think smell he was a little bitoff of the tracks. But I think,
I mean, he said yesterday afterthe game, not facing major league
pitching and the first time you facemajor league pitching being in a regular season
game in April, that's that's noteasy, right, Like, that's not
basically having any any warm up.And I mean obviously he's not. It's

not like from the middle of Octoberto March thirty first he didn't throw a
baseball one time. But there's adifference between throwing in a you know,
a practice facility in your in yourbackyard, right that compared to you know,
throwing to Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarberon the mound on Like, there's
a big difference there, right,So I mean, I think will slowly

kind of find his way back back. I don't, and I know I
said this all off season. Ithink this is sort of the start of
maybe the regression for Snell. AndI don't. I don't think big time.

maybe spiraling a little bit over thenext year or two. He's just not

of Snell, he's he's gonna hitit really hard. I think that was

I think he's had multiple games thisyear with multiple errors. So I mean
he obviously leads all third basemen inthe league in errors with eight, and
I believe he's played like eighth orninth in innings, so I mean he's

strides. Oh yeah at the thirdbase position, which which really is the
funniest part because he leads the leagueand errors and I feel like he looks
like a night and I still thinkhe looks like a night and day defender
compared to years past. I mean, he's eighteenth in the league right now
in qualified third basement it's fielding percentage, so I mean obviously middle of the
pack. I mean, if we'regoing off of qualified, uh, there

is eighteen or there is nineteen guysand he is he is ranked eighteenth,
So definitely not a defensive specialist likesome of these guys are. I mean,
Jordan Westburg from Baltimore has yet tomake an error in three hundred and

nuts. It's some tough disposition inbaseball hands. Yeah, it's one of
the it's one of the toughest positionsto play in sports. Uh, I

hardest position to play in all ofsports. He's just gotta be ready,

one thing about their base is youcan never get caught flat footed ever,

the errors are. I don't thinkthey're going anywhere. I think he's just

he doesn't have the stuff, andhe's just a guy that's gonna go
out there and eat innings, andyou hope he can keep it in the

place and in two out of thethree games and to the losses against Colorado,

What was your takeaway from that?Is it just a matter of ebbs and
flows in the season. What didyou like what didn't you like from that
series against Colorado? Yeah, thisone felt like sort of the schedule makers
kind of chalking in a Phillies losingstreak about five six months ago. Historically
the two worst stadiums the Phillies playbaseball in our Course Field and Oracle Park.
