Speaker 3 (00:19):
So you guys live in the Tri Valley. Date was
in downtown Pleasanton, super cute, loves it. How did you meet?
And then what did you guys do?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
We met on Tinder and we chatted on there for
like a week or two, and then eventually he asked
me to go get burgers and Pleasanton, which was so cute,
and I don't know, he was so nice and he
was so polite and he was funny and we talked
about true crime and he loved it. He didn't even
think I was weird, which the cool. But yeah, he

(00:49):
was so sweet and we had a great night. We
sat there for like what felt like forever, but like
also no time at all. And then after the date,
he just stops talking to me, and I've been texting
and and I like, I called him and I even
went back to Tinder like to see, like, you know,
maybe he like changed. I don't know if he changed
his phone number, but I was trying not to be crazy,
but he was just sweet and I don't understand, and

(01:10):
I'm sad.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Okay, I tell you what, you know. We're gonna call him.
We're gonna call him. We're gonna have you mute it
out so we can't hear you. But let's get some answers.
It's a Star one O one three. It's Marcus. We're
doing second date update. I've got Lauren on the phone.
We've been chatting and she and Matt went out for burgers.
They both live in the Tri Valley, So we have
to make this work, right, Lauren, please, I mean honestly, Okay,

(01:32):
I'm here for you. From my notes, he was polite,
he was funny, he was easy to talk to. You
guys both love true crime. Let's see if we can
get him on the phone. Go ahead and meet your phone.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Okay, Okay, thanks.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
You know what's up?

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Smart?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Hey Matt.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
My name is Marcus. I work at Star one O
one three in San Francisco. It's a radio station. Do
you have a second to be on the That is
a large statement.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
I know I don't know what you're you're asking about,
but I'm down.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Do you sound like the friendliest guy I think I've
ever met.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Let's it's a good day, man. It's all good in
the bay.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Okay, I hear you.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
So, Matt, I'm calling to ask you about a date
you went on recently. So we do a segment on
the show called second Date Update. And I got floated
your phone number by a woman that you just took
out not too long ago. And she says that you
ghosted And I'm just trying to figure out why did
something go wrong on the date?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Did she do something out of pocket? Have you been busy?
Her name is Lauren? Do you have a second to
talk about your date with Lauren?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
So?

Speaker 3 (02:37):
She said, she said, you had a great time like burgers.
It was cute. She said, you're super nice.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
She did Yeah, I mean, I guess, but she probably
left out the part, you know, where her parents showed up?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
What now her parents showed up? Yeahs like, how how
did that go down?

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Half way through dinner and then her mom and dad
walking in the restaurant they spot her, she waves them up.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
We're like, hey, come here.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Like it was like like I'm like caught like this
a time show or something like next thing, and I know,
like her dad is sliding in the booth asking you like.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Golf that actually happened.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yeah, I never had that happen on a date.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Man.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Okay, I mean just just all of a sudden, we
got we got chaperones at the booth.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Well this makes sense now, Okay.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
So here's the other half of this is that I've
got Lauren actually on the phone listening right now.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
I'm just trying to figure out word. Sorry, Lauren, are
you there?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, I'm here.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
I'm sorry. Your parents came? What's that about it?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I didn't give them an open invitation, But earlier in
the day I had told them I was going on
and sting. They were like, oh, where are you going?
And then like that night they just happened to be
in the area, and so they just popped in. I mean,
I don't know they were nice or my parents not nice.
My mom just wanted to say hi, like they it was.
It didn't last that long.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I mean they or Milk stayed the rest of the meal. Yeah,
your mom Fried. She told me this isn't even the
first time. Like she she submitted that her parents came
on the.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Last Lauren, what's going on.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
I'm not inviting them to my dates, but I like
to tell them, you know, for safety reasons, and they're
just really protective. But if they stop by, I mean, like,
what is the harm in that they didn't like interrogate you?
It was fun, like we were like, I don't know,
they had a great time. I had a great time.
Like I love my parents, and if you were to
ever be in my life, like you've got to meet
the people that I came from. Like, isn't that like

(04:37):
best case scenario on a first date. I don't really
get it.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Not on a first date. I mean, like, I'm not
against family, I just don't want to meet them. In
between bites of the double cheeseburger, this is hell a weird.
I'm out man.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
It was a lot, all right? Hang on, hang on, Yeah,
that's not a match that happened. You get it too
much too fast, obviously, second date up. There will be
back tomorrow seven oh five. You get your replay at

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
