Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Wednesday evening, and it's Wednesday during football season, so
you know what that is. It is the mcganniel Automotive
Football Frenzy live from Ralphie's Sports Eatery in Marrying. I'm
Eric Mosley alongside coach John cuzioh and coach. We are
in week nine.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I mean, yeah, you talk about how did that happen
being at Ralphie's.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I think of the Hoover Solid and the and the
wings man. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
H Yeah, we have Mark here tonight. We're really excited
to be here tonight. We're gonna have Ridgdale here, Coach
Chapman's gonna be in here. They came, they're coming off
of a win last week and so the things you're
looking up for them and we're really looking forward to
seeing them tonight.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
We had the Rockets here earlier in the season when
they were meeting Elgin that week and we had both
schools out and now we get a chance to have
the Rockets out again and joining us as Mark full
general manager. I know, you get happy when you know
the Rockets are coming out.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Absolutely, They're going to represent They always do, so you know,
and uh, it's uh, I know, maybe possibly somewhat. Their
season hasn't gone as they would like to to. But
you know, that's a great thing about Ohio sports fans.
I mean, this is the land of the Browns and
the Bengals.

Speaker 6 (01:16):
It doesn't matter. We're showing up.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Oh you know, Steelers showed up last week at we.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Don't talk about we don't talk about the steel.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I actually watched the whole game, and tell you what,
it just seemed like the Black and Gold was really
rocking it last last week.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Well, the Browns played last week and I did not
watch that whole game.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
So you know, it's got a little quarterback controversy right now.
But I really like a guy from highest state. He's
really playing well.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
You know, tied for first in the division. You know,
what are the six games? Seven games in now, Ye's
a position you want to be in. So yeah, good
for you, coach, You're happy for you, buddy.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Well, well, Mark, I know that football season here at
Ralphies is a lot of fun right now. You know,
not just football season. You got the baseball playoffs going
on to.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Baseball playoffs, and we're kind of hoping that Guardians can
turn around because obviously when the Ohio teams do well,
we do well. But we'll see what happens tonight with
that and everything. You know, we've got the ten dollars
quarter pound all Angus Beef hot dog tonight. That is
a mother hot dog. Trust mean yes, and that comes
to one side ten dollars special. And of course all

(02:19):
the students, staff were players that show up for the
show tonight all received ten or ten percent off their
bill obviously, so it's it's Ridgedale. They always represent, We're happy,
it's Wednesday. Good to see you fellas. Yes, yeah, what'd
you say? Week nine already?

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Good? We were and we weren't here last week.

Speaker 6 (02:37):
Was it like ninety degrees a week ago or something
like that.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, well, and finally it was where I was.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, finally the temperature caught up with the number of
games we've played.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
So you really rocked in this week.

Speaker 6 (02:48):
Finally break out the hoodie.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, yeah, every little freeze warning last night. Yeah, it's
definitely feeling like football weather. But it's week nine. We've
got still a lot of great football going on and.

Speaker 5 (02:59):
Another big county, yes, another Ridgdale. So you know, it's
always fun when you got three schools from the county
competing against each other.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yeah, well it was Pleasant harding. Just they they will
bring it, there's no doubt about it.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
Yeah, and so I don't try to figure out what
the conferences are anymore because it's so different from when
I was growing up, and I'd go cross eyde when
I think about it now. So but guys, hey have
a great show. Absolutely, go help these girls out. And
thanks again fellas, and we'll see you in a little bit.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
All right, thank you, Mark. Ok, Well, let's move on
to what we saw in week air. Yeah, week eight
the local results. It was an interesting week again across
the conferences and across Marion County. We'll start with Guy
in big victory over Pleasant thirty one to ten. That
drops Pleasant to four and four. That game, I think,

(03:49):
you know, coach, you and I agreed going into it.
We thought could be a very competitive game. And obviously
we weren't there, but I did talk to some people
that were there. It just never got in order for
Pleasant in that game. They had a tough time running
the ball, couldn't really throw it. Gallion's got a good defense,
and I think this was a game for Gallion after
losing about three straight. It was a way for them

(04:11):
to say, hey, look we're still a really good team.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
They Pleasant ran into a buzz saw last week, losing
thirty one to ten, and like you say, they've got
you got to give Gallion some credit. They've got a
good defense. We're really not sure how Maybe some injuries
might be coming to play and not making excuses for Pleasant,
but a smaller school, we always have talked about that

(04:35):
when you don't have that second second person to stand
up to come in there, you get a couple of
key injuries, and you know, a Gallion maybe, like you say,
they're alci from losing three in a row, and that's
the worst time to play a team when they've lost
a couple in a row or maybe in Gallion's case,
three in a row, and they started out three and oho.

(04:58):
They really wanted Pleasant last week and they they proved
that they're a pretty good team. And we're going to
preview their game with River Valley later on, but you know,
we're looking forward to seeing Pleasant and Harding this week.
We're going to talk about them also. So yeah, Pleasant,
you know, got into buzzsaw and they came out on
the lower end of it.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
The game we did last week. River Valley takes down
Highland thirty eight to fourteen. That moves River Valley to
five and three. The first half of that game in
the second half, two kind of polar opposite games. The
first half was back and forth, both teams really scoring
and moving the ball well, made some mistakes and we thought, wow,
this is going to go right down to the wire.

(05:40):
The adjustments that River Valley made in the second half,
and especially the way that they were able to control
the ball, and that's something that seems to have really
improved for the Vikings this season as ball control with
a spread offense. They really looked sharp in that second half.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Well, the thing that River Valley needed was a game
like that where the other team was very, very competitive,
especially in the first half, and then they had to
assert their will on them in the second half. When
you have two good teams going at each other like that,
moving the ball, and you know, River Valley, like you say,
made some adjustments. But once they got that break, and

(06:19):
I still go back to that third and two quarterback
from Highland chose to try to throw the pass instead
of get the first down.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
River Valley went right down and scored.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
And once a team like that has an explosive offense
can relax a little bit, then it's all over because
they just seem like after that, they just start piling
up the points and Ebert relaxed and start hitting his
receivers at will, and they didn't make any mistakes and
really pressive victory, especially in the second half of River Valley,

(06:53):
and it's going to be, like we say, an interesting
matchup with them this week with.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Gallion, Ontario takes down Harding forty five to fourteen, drops
Harding to one and seven. Somebody asked me today with
Ontario and Shelby meeting this week, both undefeated, they asked me,
who do you think wins the MOAC between those two.
We haven't seen Shelby, but I think we're pretty familiar
with him. We've seen Ontario, and Ontario is just one

(07:17):
of the most well rounded teams I've seen in quite
a while.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Well, the thing that impressed us is Ontario's defensive line.
They had at least six, maybe seven guys that they
were running in to chase Ebert around, and they really
put a lot of pressure on Ebert. And I use
that because they're a throwing team and Ebert's find quarterback
and they pretty much held him in check. And then

(07:42):
Miller at quarterback. He's more of a runner and he's
going to Ohio State as a receiver, but he's you
could tell the caliber an athlete he was. I'm really
looking forward to seeing the matchup between Ontario and Shelby,
and I believe that's a sweet So any of you

(08:02):
tune in on, we'll try to report the score as
we get them, but hopefully you're tuning into us with
pleasant But yeah, I mean Ontario defensively, they were very
relentless and really held River Valley in check and we
were very impressed with them both offensively and defensively.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
And Harding just trying to get something going. I do
say last year Harding did not score against Ontario, So
this year, if you're looking for those little steps of progress,
they were able to put up fourteen points against Ontario.
Upperside of Valley beats Elgin twenty eight to eight. That
dropped Elgin to three and five, and Elgin k new

(08:42):
going into this game Upperside of Valley one of the
top teams in the back end of elgin schedules pretty loaded.
They knew it was going to be a tough game,
and I think they were hoping to be able to
stay with Upper sideo A Valley, but Upperside of Valley
showed why they are one of the top teams in
the Northwest Central Conference.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Right now, Elgin has got to find an identity and
I know the coach Winslow and his staff coach them
up at each and every week, and those kids have
got to continue to buy into what they're trying to do.
They're usually a pretty good running team and.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
You know, an average past team.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Only when they have to maybe they're going to have
to open some things up a little bit, make it
a little bit easier on the offense to move the
football and get some first downs and get into the
end zone. But they're going to continue on three and five.
They're not used to that. In the last few years,
they've had some real nice teams and they've got some
young kids though, and those kids have got to grow up.
Hopefully they can continue to be injury free and finish

(09:39):
the season strong and then Ridgdale able to get their
second victory on the season, beating Corey Ross in twenty
to three. That puts Ridgdale's record at two and six,
and this was a game between two teams that have
struggled this season. Ridgedale able to put some points up.
From what I heard and had seen in the Marine
Star had a good running attack going able to have

(10:01):
a few guys score for them. So it's a good
time for us, we were saying, to be able to
have ridge Dale in here off a win, and we'll
hear from coach Chapman just a little bit more about
that game. But it's good to see Ridgedale get back
on the positives. Well, if there was ever a week
for Ridgdale to play Corey Rosson would have been last
week because they just came off of a win over

(10:22):
Elgin and they had a two and five record, or
excuse me, one in five record, one and six record
going into that game against Ridgdale. So maybe that was
a little bit of a trap game where they were,
you know, once they won the game, maybe they didn't
know how to handle success and Ridgdale took advantage of that,
which they did scored twenty points held Corey Rosson, who

(10:45):
scored twenty one against Elgin the week before that. So,
like you say, Ridgedale's been able to score some points
and looked like their defense came to play last week.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Also.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Yeah, and I know we'll find out more from coach
Chapman when we talk to them. I know they've had
some injury issues, had some you know, walking wounded. But
the one thing about Ridgdale is the attitude, the desire
to play is never lost on those players. They play
through injury as long as they can and they are

(11:16):
a tough group. So good to see Ridgdale able to
get the victory. So that's a recap of Week eight,
and it's I just can't get over number one. We
try to kind of, you know, predict in our minds
how the season will go for each team. I can
honestly say none of it has gone how I would
think it would go with any of the teams that

(11:36):
we had, right.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
You know, it was a strange year that way.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
As far as the weather was concerned, we had some
really hot days and maybe that affected, you know, the play.
I know that we had some games where kids were
going down with cramps, leg cramps.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Real serious.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
I mean it was really hot beginning of season and
now it's cooling off and hopefully these teams that don't
have a lot of depth, we'll play a little better
and finish season strong, and we're really rooting for all
these teams absolutely well, we'll go ahead and take a break.
When we come back, we'll preview all the games that
are coming up for Marion County teams this week, and
then after that we will talk with Ridgdale head coach

(12:13):
Corey Chapman and players Kaden Daniel and Ajmbody. We're just

In the criminal justice system, prosecutors bring the charges and
judges make sure justice is done. Prosecutors have to be
tough and judges have to be fair. And in the
Ohio criminal justice system, Megan Shanahan has been both a
prosecutor and a judge, sending hundreds of dangerous criminals to prison.
No prosecutor was tougher than Megan Shanahan.

Speaker 12 (13:47):
A child rapist was sent to prison today.

Speaker 13 (13:49):
Before she won the case, prosecutor Megan Shanahan told the
jury the fashion.

And then Megan Shanahan became a judge. With more than

Welcome back to the Football Frenzy, The McDaniel Automotive Football
Frenzy live from Ralphie's sports eatery Eric Moseley alongside coach
John Cuzio. Let's talk about the games they are involving
county teams coming up this week. We'll start with Gallion
traveling to River Valley. Both teams have identical five and
three records and coach we we've seen River Valley quite

(16:02):
a bit this season. We haven't seen Gallion, but We're
pretty familiar with them. Gallions started off very hot. They
started off with four straight victories, then they lost three
straight before having a victory against Pleasant last week. So
both teams kind of headed in a little bit different
directions to get to this point at the same record.
River Valley had a really tough schedule early on, played

(16:25):
some tough teams, started off, I believe, with two straight
losses and then they bounced their way back. What do
you think of this game? I think, you know, one
of the highlight games in the area.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Yeah, River Valley, you know, they've kind of been up
and down, you know, in the last couple of years.
We've seen him, you know, and over the last coach
Waddles team. But you know, five and three, they came
off of a nice victory last week. We said to Highland,
you know, really played played hard and played well in
the first half, and then River Valley just asserted their

(17:00):
ill on them in the second half. And and once
that offense gets rolling and Ebert gets rolling, he gets
some time.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Highland's defensive line really put a lot of pressure on him,
and they had a pretty good game plan defensively against
River Valley. But you know, Gallion supposedly has a pretty
good defense. If they can withstand that, you know, pressure
on Ebert, it could be a tough night for Ebert.
But I also think that River Valley's offense is getting

(17:27):
a lot of confidence right now. They've got some guys
that maybe on the second, third, and fourth down the
list that are starting to catch some passes and that
are really you know, they're not They're not dependent on
this was it, uh, you know the really good receivers
Night Snighter. Yeah, they're not dependent on him for everything.

(17:49):
Although he's he's a good one. And uh, Ebert pretty
you know, he's in he's in good season form right now.
I look for River Valley to have a real good
game at home, and it could be a close one.
River Valley has a really good field goal kicker in Pollock,
and it could come down to that.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
I watched a video yesterday of Hudson Pollock in practice.
Now again practice, they're not putting a huge rush on him.
Kicked a sixty five yard field goal. This is a
kid that's got a leg. They have him as a weapon.
But the thing that I really like about River Valley,
and I think this is what it all comes down
to when it comes to River Valley. If you have

(18:28):
a really good defense, you might be able to stop
River Valley, but there's so many weapons that they can
throw to, and when you're facing that spread offense, your
defense better be able to stay physical the whole game
because they will wear you out and they will spread
you out. When we saw them play Ontario, Ontario had
a defense that could get quick pressure on Ebert and

(18:49):
disrupt everything. If you can't get home and you start
sending linebackers and blitzing, that's when they pick you apart.
So it'd be interesting to see exactly how Galleon approaches
is game well and helped.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
Me with the two guy I know. The one guy's
Lang in the big tight end.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
So you've got Eli Snyder, you've got Luke axe Line,
you've talked about eighty five Ian axe Line, Ian axe Line.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Those are the two guys I wanted to talk about
because you have Lang, who's kind of down on the
list of maybe who they think they're gonna throw to.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
But I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Against Pleasant, we saw him play really really well. He
stepped up in one of the when Park got hurt
and then Eli Axeline down the middle. It caught a
couple of real nice passes against Tiland that really helped
him on a couple drives. And if they start using
him down the middle on drag patterns, look out because

(19:44):
that's another weapon. But Lang, he's the little hidden gem
that's going to get you that first down. He's gonna
be do the dirty work across the middle, and I
really like those two guys.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Elgin will be traveling to Perry. Elgin comes into this
game green five, Perry at four and four, and both
teams still holding on to some hope for playoff positioning,
Elgin just on the outside of that. I believe Perry
in their region is right within the playoff positioning and
Elgin just looking for something to rebound from. They're trying

(20:17):
to get back on the winning ways, facing a team.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
That they should be able to compete with.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
But I think week to week for Elgin it's they
really don't know what to expect when it comes to
how they're going to perform, and that's a tough feeling
for any team. Well, I would consider this, even though
the records are one game different, three and five, Elgin
Parry four and four.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
This is a fifty to fifty game. This is a
game where.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Whoever prepares, whoever comes to play, whoever wants it more,
is going to get it. Elgin has to understand they're
going on a business trip. We talk about that every week,
and Perry I would say, by now, they're also looking
for an identity and whoever has the healthiest guys and
it puts forth the great effort, uh and maybe get

(21:02):
a break.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Elgin, I know, has to quit. You know.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Uh, turnovers, That's one of the things coach Winsloy has
talked about, turnovers.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
So if they go up there and.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Play a clean, crisp game on the road, Uh, it's
gonna be a cooler night. I don't see how they
could come come out of there without a win. But
they're gonna have to play a good game. They're gonna
have to play penalty free and they're gonna have to
cause turnovers and Perry and make them. Once they you know,
team's already lost four games, they're gonna be doubtful if

(21:31):
they get a couple couple of turnovers themselves against themselves.
So Elgin's gonna have to just assert their will on
them and go up there and want the game more.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
And then Ridgdale travels to Waynesfield Goshen. Ridgedale at two
and six, Waynsfield Goshen at six and two, and we
saw Ghoshen play against Elgin, very tough team, real quick.
And we'll talk with the coach Chapman kind of about Waynesfield.
But Ridgdale coming off the wins, gotta feel, you know,
some confidence going into this game.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, it's always good.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Coach Chapman coming in, he had a smile on his
face and it's always good to win and kind of
lightens things up.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Excuse me.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Coach Chapman knows that he's going up there and he's
gonna have to he's going on a business trip. Also,
he's got to continue to keep his kids heads up.
He's got to go after it and they've got to
try to learn something each and every week. And this
is what I consider a program game. It's a see
who wants to really be a part of a good program.
And I know coach Chapman and his staff are really

(22:33):
working towards that.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
Yes they are.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
And we'll get to hear from ridgeital head coach Cory
Chapman and players Katin Daniel and ajmbody after this next break,
and we're just getting started here again. If you want
to make it out here, you can have some really
good food get.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Prepared for you.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
The rockets are starting to load up, so we know
you want to get here soon because the rockets are
going to eat everything that's in sight. These boys came
ready to eat again. You're listening to the football frenzy.
On fourteen ninety WMRIN.

Speaker 15 (23:07):
A fire was reported in downtown Dayton this afternoon, causing
the evacuation of a nearby building. Just before one o'clock,
Police and fire responded on a report of an underground
fire in the one hundred block of South Main Street,
where the Montgomery County Rival Building is located. In addition
to the evacuation, several surrounding streets were shut down. The
Lake County Sheriff's offices out with the warning about fake

(23:29):
prescription drugs after a recent drug bust, and the county
deputies confiscated what they said was over three hundred fake
pills during a recent traffic stop on State Route two.
Deputies said the pills were made to look like oxy
codone or oxy cotton when they were actually fintonel laced
fake pills. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession

do acting, but I would never do it while I

do it when I had nothing else to distract me.

Welcome back to the McDaniel Automotive Football frenzy here at
Ralpie Sports Eatery. Right now, we are joined by Ridget
head coach Cory Chapman, players Kaden Daniel and a j Embody.
Thanks for joining us, guys.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Thank you for having us. Hey, no problem.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
We knew we had were getting towards the end of
the seasons, like we got to get the Rockets back
out here because they always bring a good crowd and
they're a lot of fun to have around, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Uh well, let's get right to it, guys.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
Coach, last week you were able to get the victory
against Cory Rawson. Let's hear a little bit about your
techaways from that game, what happened that you really have
with and just everything that went into that victory.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
It was a.

Speaker 12 (29:07):
Whole team effort. First half, we moved the ball, but
we shot ourselves in the foot two steps four to
one step back. You know how that is, coach, When
you're doing good, you get behind the sticks. It makes
it hard. But the second half, the guys cleaned up
a lot and defensively we flew around and we were

(29:30):
always around the ball, and you know when that happens,
the ball hits the ground. If we're flying around it.
We're going to be around and we were recovered as
well as our D line and linebackers put a lot
of pressure on them to throw the ball up. And
when we threw it up, we had our dbs were
there to make plays. Even our D tackle d lot

(29:53):
End was able to get an interception return for a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
You know, coach what I was going to add to
that and ask these guys here, when you're playing in
a game like that, as a coach, you can feel
it you have an opportunity to win this one, and
you guys as a players probably felt the same way.
As the game was progressing. This is our game, right
and so you guys must have put turned it around
and tell us about the second half.

Speaker 12 (30:17):
Well, second half, we just we made a couple of
adjustments offensively. It allowed us to.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Move the ball.

Speaker 12 (30:27):
But like we told them before, we're shooting ourselves in
the fuck guys. It's not what they're doing to us.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
It was all about us.

Speaker 12 (30:37):
And I think we uh we were able to hone
in on some of that stuff as well as defensively,
we just got kept getting after it. It was similar
to last year. We went into the halftime seven to nothing.
They were beating us last year and we just for

(30:58):
some reason it just clicked. But I think just the
whole atmosphere of being homecoming, the guys had a lot
of energy and it showed.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Yeah, coach, and we talk about having a lot of energy,
what have you guys done as coaches to make sure
you keep that upbeat, positive energy throughout this whole season.

Speaker 12 (31:20):
Like I told the guys from the beginning, we're gonna
coach your hard no matter what, We're gonna coach you hard,
and you should worry when we stopped coaching your herd.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
We know the.

Speaker 12 (31:35):
Type of team we have, and a couple games it
just didn't show up. Go back to Week three against Ridgemont.
We lose fourteen to eight, and that was a game
that was ours. We just couldn't finish. We shot ourselves
in the foot on both.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
Sides of the ball.

Speaker 12 (31:54):
And when you do that and you're evenly madam, those
little things paid dividends and we lost it, went up
to Michigan, ran into a little bus saw up there.
But the thing I will applaud these players for in

(32:16):
our coaches, we didn't stop grinding. We kept getting better.
We knew we were there, We had pieces. You saw
it on film. The results may not have been there,
but we saw it and it all came together last
week where we kind of put it all together.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
So, Cayden, you're a senior and have you're also playing
wide receiver and cornerback, right, yes, sir, So obviously this
hasn't been quite the season like it was last season,
but senior leadership is a big thing. What have you
seniors done to provide leadership to the rest of the
team this season?

Speaker 24 (33:01):
You know, I think I think some of the guys
this year have definitely stepped up last year into that
leadership role.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
We had.

Speaker 24 (33:09):
We had some good seniors last year that were the
leaders for us, and know that we were going to
lack some leadership this year and that some of these
guys need to fill the spots, and I think I
think we did a pretty good job just stepping up
and directing the team. You know, obviously the record doesn't
show very much improvement over the season, but I think
the start of the season was a lot rougher than

(33:29):
it is now because now we have more guys showing
up every day, putting in there, all having fun, but
just but just coming to work and and and showing
that their rocket and they're gonna fight for their family.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
Very well spoken.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Heyj your team has a lot of players that go
both ways and uh does uh does that ever get
tough to do or or you just you guys are
just used to doing it.

Speaker 25 (33:54):
Sometimes it's hard, especially when you're playing as many possible
uh eyes of the ball you can like punt kick
a return, that's type of stuff. It's hard sometimes, but
we all understand that sometimes we need to take a break,
so we try and get ourselves in and out.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
Get some guys probably liking this cooler weather too, right.

Speaker 25 (34:13):
Yeah, yeah, especially with it being cooler, like you said,
it's easier because you aren't cramping as much, so it's
easier to play a little bit longer, and then you
get people coming in and out, you get a short
little break and then you get to go back in.
It's not as big of.

Speaker 6 (34:28):
A drainage, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Yeah? Very good, very good.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
So do you guys think, you know, kind of just
to expand on that a little bit, Having a smaller team,
smaller size numbers wise, team, do you think you find
that you are relying on each other a lot more.
It causes you to be there for your brother that's
lying up next to you because you don't want to
let everybody down or let anybody down. You want to

(34:52):
try to do your your one eleventh of what needs
to be done.

Speaker 6 (34:56):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
I think.

Speaker 24 (34:58):
I think just having less people on the team has
everyone with a closer bond. You know, you're kind of
forced to talk to everyone, whether you like them or not.
And I mean, I think you can you can fight
at practice all you want, but I think game time
we can all come together and go to war together.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Yeah, that's what we talk about every week. And and
I've mentioned coach Chapman a lot throughout this whole season,
even though you weren't here, coach, so hopefully your ears
were burning in a good way. But I talked about
the fact that you're always coaching them up. You're always positive.
When you go on a trip. We talk about going
on a business trip. You're not going on a field trip.

(35:35):
You're going to do business. And I know, Coach Chapman,
you've done that, you know at Ridgedale, And despite the
wins and losses, you're still continuing to coach them up
on those especially way trips.

Speaker 12 (35:48):
Oh, definitely. The players know on the way trips it's
good for us because there's no distractions.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Exactly, we're on the bus all together, we're going.

Speaker 12 (36:00):
They understand it's us versus everybody when we go there,
because we know our fans are going to travel, But
when we get there those two or three hours before
the game, it's literally just us versus all of them.
So being locked in, the players are more locked in

(36:22):
without the distractions of being at home.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
And these guys probably don't realize it yet, but down
the road, ten to fifteen years down the road, they're
going to remember those trips, and they're gonna remember their
brothers in the locker room. And even even the downs,
you know, especially you're gonna remember the ups, but even
the downs you're gonna remember.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
And that's what a family does.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
It's not always going to be, you know, hunky dory
all the time, and that just makes you a better person.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Oh it does.

Speaker 12 (36:51):
I was just listening to a podcast and the coach
on there. He talked about the players. You don't rarely
hear them talk about college. It's all about the good
times they had playing in high school in their twenties, thirties, forties, fifties.
They're talking about that time they had in high school

(37:14):
playing with their friends and brothers.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
Well, coach, let's go ahead and talk about your game
this week. You're taking on Waynesfield Gosh and traveling over there. Obviously,
Waynesfield way down numbers wise this season, but still a
very tough team. What do you think of what you're
facing with Tigers?

Speaker 12 (37:32):
They lost a lot last year. They were heavily senior led,
and their record showed it. But like you said, they're
down in numbers, but it's still a Waynesville Goosha team
that fights and they grind. Watching the film, the funny
thing is all the film that we've gotten of all

(37:52):
our opponents in the conference, we've gotten a Waynesville Goshen
film for some reason.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
That's just how it played out.

Speaker 12 (38:03):
So watching them grow as a team, you can see
it from earlier in the year to now. And they've
changed their offense totally. They're more of a wing t
running style team. But you can see their kids are
fighting for one another, trying to prove people wrong. Because

(38:24):
I think they've had a hard This class had a
hard way because I think the coaches leaving that could
have played a part, but the new coaching staff has
got those guys humming in the right direction.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Well, and you have to figure two.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
It would be very easy as a coach or as players.
When you see, Okay, we're facing a wing tea, Well
we face wing tea every year, so we're familiar with that.
But when you see Waynsfield Goshen, which we did, the
one big difference is they do throw the ball a
little bit and they do.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
It in the play action.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
Really interesting team to watch, but it's got to feel
good to be able to go into that game off
of a victory.

Speaker 12 (39:04):
Oh it is. I think the confidence that the players have.
They see the results and when we put the hard
work in, they see it.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
And now moving on, Like.

Speaker 12 (39:17):
I told them last year, we weren't sneaking We're not
sneaking up on anybody. And so just that mindset of
we got the victory. Now let's puts two good weeks
in a row. Can we do that as a team,
And at the end of the day, like I tell
these guys, we want to be fighting for something, and

(39:40):
I know it's a long shot, but these next two
weeks we pull them off. We have a shot at
making the playoffs, so the guys are fighting for something.
The record might not show it, but that's all you
can ask for as a team is a chance to

(40:02):
play another week.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
So well, we love talking to you guys. We're big
fans of the Rockets and we're going to be rooting
you on on Friday night to see if you can
pull off that upset and finish the job of the
last two weeks again. Coach Corey Chapman, Caden Daniel Ajmbody
from the Ridgedale Rockets. Thanks for coming out, guys. We

(40:25):
really appreciate you being here.

Speaker 12 (40:27):
Thank you for having us, Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (40:29):

HI on Brickshields. I've had a lot of different jobs,

that's more important than all the others, being a mom.
It's the most difficult and rewarding job I've ever had.
It's also a big responsibility. I'm teaching my daughters to
be strong and independent so they can successfully navigate their
own life journey, and I'm protecting their future by having

To the McDaniel Automotive Football Frenzy live from Ralphie's Sports
Eatery in Marion, and coach Kuzio had to step out.
He actually had an appointment, so I have the backup.

Speaker 3 (44:17):
You're yes, sir, you.

Speaker 1 (44:19):
Are kind of I'm trying to think of a very
good backup in football. Well, are you like well? You
are the Cardile Jones. There we go, There we go
a situation. Yeah, we get to the twelve games. Mark Fole,
the GM.

Speaker 5 (44:31):
Finally in the driver's seat over there, the best collar
man in the service industry.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
There you go perfectly.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
But he's joining us right now as we talk about
our broadcast game this week, the Matthew Sondaakura High School
Game of the Week between Pleasant and Harding at Harding Stadium.
Last season. Pleasant was able to win that game handily
at home and a lot of emotions going into that
game with CJ. Well wrestler his first year as the

(45:02):
Pleasant head coach. He was a graduate of Harding. He
was definitely fired up for that game. Coach Chuck Williamson
his first year at Harding, you know, just trying to
get the program off the ground. We look at where
these two teams are. Harding is one and seven, Pleasant
at four and four, and this is to me one
of those games that I don't think you can say

(45:24):
one way or the other which way it's going to go.

Speaker 5 (45:27):
You know, if I'd had an opportunity really to be
able to watch either one of these teams yet this year,
I would have something more to say. But you know,
Pleasant really not having the year that they were expecting
so far from what I've heard. So, like I said,
it's always exciting when two county teams get together and
play each other. So I'm sure regardless of what happens,
is just gonna be a good football game.

Speaker 1 (45:47):
It absolutely will. Pleasant has a really good rushing attack
and a good passing game, but last week weren't able
to do much of either of those things. The big
thing with Pleasant is when their defense is on, it's
really tough to do much against Sam Menzer, their defensive
end league leading sacks for the MOAC. He is a

(46:10):
monster out there. But with the Harding, I'll tell you
from my experience watching Harding this year, they are not
your typical one in seventeen. And that's not you know,
trying to make it look like the glasses half full.
They really are a good team and when they got
things running at the right frequency and doing enough of

(46:31):
the right things, they play well. The biggest problem with
Harding this year has just been consistency, staying out of
making mistakes. They'll do a lot of really good things
and you'll watch them hum on offense and defense and
you'll think, man, this is an excellent team, and then
there's a mistake that's made and it just seems like
it just builds up a little bit on them.

Speaker 5 (46:51):
Yeah, and it actually really surprised me one and seven
because I remember week one when they came in for
the show.

Speaker 6 (46:57):
You know, I was watching some of their kids walk in.

Speaker 5 (46:59):
I'm like, hey, they got some beast on this team,
you know, and everything and to be at and to
be perfectly honest, I have paid somewhat attention enough to
know that, you know, a few bounces of the ball
the right way here and there, and you know, Hardy
wins a couple of those football games, so you know,
and it totally changes your outlook on things.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
So and Harding had one of the toughest non conference
schedules you could ever have. Uh, they have played a
bear of a schedule and that again, no excuses, they
would be. Coach Williamson would be the first one to
say there's no excuses for any of it. But there
are just things that happen in a season. I know
that coach Williamson wants to try to end the season
on a positive note. And it's their county rivalry game.

(47:37):
This is one of those games that you could be
zero to eight going into this game.

Speaker 6 (47:43):
Play the records out, throw them out.

Speaker 1 (47:44):
We're we're all here to play this game and we
are looking forward to it.

Speaker 3 (47:48):
So that will be on Friday night.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
I want to make sure to mention because obviously the
Guardians are playing Friday Night as well. Normally you would
listen to that game on fourteen ninety WMRN, but we
are doing our high school games, So the Guardians game
is moving over to Buckeye Country ninety four to three
for that evening, so it will be on the FM
station Buckeye Country ninety four to three. I believe that's

(48:10):
a seven o'clock first pitch or shortly after seven, So
Guardians Live will go on the air at about six
thirty five.

Speaker 3 (48:19):
So if you're.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
Wanting to tune in to hear the Guardians that night,
you're going to hear me. And I'm thinking it's just
as good, but I'm no Tom Hamilton, so it's not
going to be quite what you were.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
Expecting to hear.

Speaker 1 (48:32):
But if you were tuning in on Friday to listen
to high school football, then you will be in the
right place. Everything will start at the same time with
countdown to kickoff at six thirty live from the stadium
and kickoff will be at seven o'clock at Harding High School.
And that's I mean, we are at week nine mark.
It's hard to leave. And let's face it, for most

(48:54):
of us Ohio football fans, this past weekend really was rough.

Speaker 6 (48:58):
Not a great one. Not a great one.

Speaker 5 (49:01):
I've and you know you always love you know, not
to get off topic, but you know we're going.

Speaker 6 (49:05):
To talk about the Buckeyes from yes we can.

Speaker 5 (49:08):
And you know, just the bye week coming after an
l like that to have to just suck on that.

Speaker 1 (49:13):
For two weeks, but you know what, I like that
for the team. The team needs to it has to hurt,
they need.

Speaker 6 (49:21):
To suck on that for a couple weeks.

Speaker 1 (49:23):
So there's and we will probably talk a lot about
it on the Scoreboard show after the game. But just
to share a little bit, I want to tell every
Buckeye fan out there, the sky is not falling, the
world is not over. There's some things to fix, but
everything is still in front of this team. They can

(49:44):
still win a Big Ten championship, they can still go
to the playoffs, they can still win a national title.
Ye it just gets a little bit tighter now.

Speaker 5 (49:52):
I mean, I think one of the reasons that a
loss like that stand. I think most Buckeye fans understand, hey,
everything's still in front of us. But when you go
out in the offseason and spend thirty forty million dollars
on coaches, transfers, you know, getting seniors to stay by
paying them, and when you've made the investment that they've made,
that's just why it's stung so much. You know, like, well,
that's once again Jim Knowles's defense just trips and falls

(50:16):
in a big game.

Speaker 1 (50:17):
That's where the trolls will come out of the world work.
And that is a part of being an Ohio State fan.

Speaker 6 (50:23):
And can you take the heat get out?

Speaker 3 (50:25):
You have to expect, you have to.

Speaker 6 (50:27):
Haters will come out. Every time we lose. The haters
come out, absolutely, so not much you can do.

Speaker 1 (50:33):
I I get very frustrated, and I'm a lifelong Buckeye fan,
get very frustrated with Buckeye fans that just lose their
minds when things like this happen.

Speaker 3 (50:44):
And it's it's like.

Speaker 1 (50:45):
Look, we are never even even when they've Bonn undefeated,
it was not perfect.

Speaker 3 (50:51):
Yeah, the year they won the national title.

Speaker 6 (50:53):
And a bunch of times had.

Speaker 3 (50:55):
To get lucky.

Speaker 1 (50:56):
Yeah, they almost lost to produce. Yeah, and I mean,
come on, now, it's not always going to be perfect,
but support your team.

Speaker 3 (51:05):
It's all good. But the Buckeyes are off this week,
off this week.

Speaker 6 (51:09):
Hey, the Bengals won, you know, on Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (51:12):
Now that does me no good either.

Speaker 5 (51:14):
So yeah, I think I think it's safe to say
that the the a quarterback experiment in Cleveland has long
since been a failure.

Speaker 1 (51:24):
Well I think, yeah, it was a failure before it
even started.

Speaker 5 (51:28):
But I gave him a little bit of the benefit
of the doubt for a while. But I just can't anymore.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
Yeah, well neither, I mean neither can the front office
because they're going to start trading off players.

Speaker 6 (51:37):
So you take up for that two hundred and thirty
million dollars.

Speaker 1 (51:40):
It is what it is. As a Browns fan, I
come to expect all of that.

Speaker 3 (51:44):
Mark.

Speaker 1 (51:44):
Let's go ahead, and I want to give you a
moment to talk about the specials again this week. You
still can come out here and get some good food
this week.

Speaker 5 (51:53):
Well, you know, it gets a little repetitive, but I
like to just remind people that you know. Monday through Friday,
we are running a wing special. It's ten for twelve dollars.
We do that on Tuesday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from
two o'clock to five o'clock and of course on Monday
that's open to clothes all day, ten for twelve dollars.
Just another reminder that there is no ticket giveaway tomorrow

(52:14):
obviously with no Buckeye game, so don't need to worry
about that this week, I guess.

Speaker 6 (52:19):
And one more thing.

Speaker 5 (52:21):
If you want to watch a team actually win, meaning
other than the Bengals or the Browns, and you maybe
are from out of town or just want to watch
some good football, we are one of two places in
town that do carry the NFL Sunday Ticket that's every
game every Sunday. So we also have a double cheese
burger with the side.

Speaker 15 (52:39):
Yes, that stands for the National of State High School Associations,
but really what we stand for together with the
