(00:00):
Join me on the let's try thatagain. Join me on the phone this
morning from the Marion Concert Band. It's Lois Lost and Lois, good morning.
How are you today? Good morning, I'm great and I'm excited about
concerts in the Park. I knowme too. They all start on Sunday.
My wife and I have got andsupported the series for a number of
years. It is one hundred percentfree every Saturday night through August the third,
(00:26):
or Sunday night through August the thirteenth, at seven o'clock at McKinley Park.
And they are wonderful beautiful Sundays, aren't they. Oh? Yeah,
And we've had great luck with MotherNature in the past years and we're looking
for more this year. Yeah.Absolutely. It all gets started this Sunday
night, and it's one of myfavorite acts. On June eleventh, you're
(00:47):
bringing in the Geese Cats and they'vegot to be back by popular demand.
They are so much fun. Oh, you know, we get a lot
of requests for the Geese Cats. They're really popular around this area. They're
a lot of fun and they getpeople really cranked up for the whole season.
Well, they're fantastic. They comeout of Cleveland, I believe correct,
(01:10):
and they do mostly doop and stufflike that. I mean, they
really take you back to the fiftiessixties and their comedy is fantastic that they
throw into Oh yeah, yeah, they're not a local group. We bring
them from the Cleveland area and theyjust really shine with the people here.
(01:30):
Yeah, we love them. Andthen on the eighteenth, you've got the
Marrying Concert Band. So you guysa concert band who puts on the concerts
in the park. You guys aregonna do that show. And then you
guys come back on August thirteenth, and we'll talk a little bit about the
concert band in a minute. Ijust want to run down some of the
different acts that are coming June twentyfifth. The North Side Jazz Band.
Now, they are fantastic because theyhave a little bit of everything in there,
(01:56):
don't they. Oh yeah, they'rea good mix, have Dixie land
and they play just about anything. And that's a group out of the Columbus
area. Yeah, and they're alot of fun. Oh I love them.
Now the Marionaires are going to besinging with Quintessence. Now that's a
group of strings that comes in alot of times. They might have a
(02:19):
singer with them, but this timethey're working with the Marionaires. That'll be
a neat kind of a double billshow, won't it. Oh yeah,
quintessence strings and people a lot oftimes will think, oh, that's kind
of you know, this really quietkind of thing. They play a lot
of different types of music and pairedwith the Marionaires who do the barber shop,
(02:42):
I think people are gonna like thatcombination. How about Spitting Image,
Now, these two guys are reallyreally cool. Talk about the show that's
coming July sixteenth. Well, SpittinImage is a set of twins and they
build themselves as playing homegrown music andcomedy. But they are really popular in
(03:07):
central Ohio and around the state, and their program or their show gets people
singing, and they do comedy andthey just kind of get everybody to rock
and and just rock the whole eveningaway. There are a lot of fun.
(03:28):
Yeah, they are. I've seenthem twice now. I saw them
at the Palace once and I'm tryingto remember where else I saw them,
But I've seen them twice, andboth times I got really excited when I
found out that Spitting Image was coming. I'm like yeah, and I can
be there because we're we're free.I'm the sixteenth. I'm like, that's
gonna be a really good show.Trombones Plus coming July twenty third. That's
(03:50):
a great act. Not only dothey not really need a whole lot of
sound support, because they really doboom. You can't imagine what music Trombones
can play the amazing Yeah. Ohyeah. They do a wide variety of
popular patriotic jazz standards and they're justreally unique. And their ties started with
(04:15):
the USU Marching Band, So youknow that they play well. And that's
putting it mildly, that's true.I've heard them with some singers too.
I think that's pretty cool. Soit'll be fun. July twenty third,
United in Harmony. We've had thembefore. They are fantastic if you like
to hear harmonizing humans do some wonderfulmusic. That's a really good show.
(04:39):
Yeah. That's a group from thede Cyrus and Crawford County area and they're
pretty much build as Goodwill Ambassadors andand their thing is that they make music
and they make people feel good. And I think folks are really gonna like
this Men's Chorus. Yeah, they'refantastic. The Pallacater Big Band is back.
(05:01):
John and Ann will be singing. It will be a wonderful night of
music. They really get the crowdinvolved. And of course the Big Band
plays all the standards from back inthe forties, but they also put a
spin on it and play some morecurrent stuff too, don't they. Oh
yeah, because the people who playand sing with that group, they know
(05:23):
their business and they know what peoplelike, and they just really put on
a good show. Yeah, yeah, I love them. Now. If
you want to get details on thetwenty twenty three summer concerts in McKinley Park
for every Sunday night at seven, you can check out the Marrying Concert Band
on Facebook. Check them out. They've got the listing there. They always

(05:46):

Band, you guys are a fiveoh one C three. It's a nonprofit
organization and you guys work strictly fromvolunteers and donations because these acts are not
free. And I don't know peopleunderstand people, They just don't drive to
Marion to play music in the parkon Sunday nights at seven o'clock. There
(06:10):
were a lot of sponsors involved,a lot of donations that happen, and
folks can donate to you guys atthe concert band to keep this alive.
Correct, That is correct. Wecouldn't do a concert series like this without
all of the health and support fromthe community, the sponsors that we have.
(06:31):
The list just keeps growing every year. But because of that support,
we can bring in the Geese Cats, we can bring in Spitting Image and
all of these other groups that areso good. And like you said,
this group Marrying Concert Band, weare, you know, at tax exempt
(06:58):
group and so your donation goes strictlyfor putting on this concert series in Vickilly
Park. Yeah. Yeah, WellI invite you to do the same thing
my wife and I do. Wewrite a check the first time we go,
which will be this Sunday night. We drop it in one of those
five gallon buckets that you guys havesitting all around the area, and that's
(07:21):
how we support the entire series. You can write a check, you can
send it to the Marian Concert Band. You can get details on where to
send that by going to the MarianConcert Band maryon Ohio on Facebook, or
to their to their site, orjust the nights that you come out,
make sure you throw a little bitof cash and each one of those buckets
(07:41):
to be able to keep the seriesgoing. Bring your lawn chair, bring
your dinner. I know sometimes weactually have a little picnic out there.
We'll get there a little bit earlyand a lot of folks end up at
the ice cream places around town rightafterwards, don't right, That's right.
It makes for quite a lot offun. Hello, You've got to be
surprised and impressed or just just happyfor the support, you know, with
(08:05):
everything that went on with a pandemicand stuff. It seems like the concerts
on Sunday nights grow every single weekthroughout the season. And they've they've done
that for years and it's just beenso nice for them to continue to happen.
Well, we are just excited whenwe see all of these people come
(08:26):
and there's plenty of parking there andit's people of all ages, and you
know, folks bring their kids andtheir grandkids and and they, like you
said, bring bring your launcher, you know, bring your superb you know,
bring your cooler, and and justsit back and enjoy some great music
(08:48):
