(00:00):
Magic ninety five nine. Hey,good morning, it is Paul James joining
me on the phone today. IsBob goy or Bob? How you doing?
Man? I'm great? How areyou doing today? Paul? I
am excellent, and I'm glad youreached out because You've got a couple of
events that you're part of that arecoming up in the next month or so,
and I really wanted to get ourlisteners informed as to what's happening.
Two very different types of events, but two events that are both going to

(00:24):
be happening in downtown and utilizing someof the great resources we have in downtown
Marying. First off, is yourMarrying Praise Fest coming up on Saturday,
August twelfth. Tell me about thisevent, Well, this was the third
annual. We did miss one yearbecause of COVID. Back when we started
this, actually it was the brainchildof Alex Reese. If you remember Alex

(00:49):
Reese, he passed away of COVID. In fact, the year that we
didn't do it is really COVID andhe passed away. And his pay was
always to bring the church. Andwhen we say church, I mean any
Christian in Marying. It doesn't meanchurches. Even though there are churches of

(01:11):
Maryan. We're talking about just peoplethat attend church that are Christians that we
wanted. He wanted to bring unityto the church or another term, his
body of Christ and Maryon and thatwas the whole purpose of starting at three
four years ago. And so we'recontinuing with his vision of doing this.

(01:32):
And in the past we usually hadit on a Friday night, but this
year we wanted to expand it someto and so we're having on a Saturday.
Ends up being the second Saturday fordowntown Marying, which is great,
and the theme for downtown that secondSaturday is back to school, so you

(01:52):
know, we're joining in with thedowntown marrying businesses somewhat along with you know,
having our own Pricefest and so we'llbe having musicians and children's ministry,
food food vendors there. So it'smore of a festival and certainly a lot
of music music and live music theentire time from local Christian artists and individuals

(02:19):
or groups. In fact, theowner of the Remnant, Abigail Jordan,
she has put together to community worshippraise and worship bands, which is really
neat. She her to kind ofthe theme of integrating and bringing the body
of Christ Church together. She broughtmusicians from various churches and groups together to

(02:44):
form two community worship teams. Soit's going to be the unique. So
it's going to be a great time. That is fantastic. Several groups part
of it, and that's what's neatis that there's so many that are getting
involved. It runs from eleven tothree. It's going to be a Wounders
Park that's kind of going to bethe hub at one sixty four South Main
Street. There free family oriented communityevent, lots of music, food.

(03:07):
I know you're partnering up with Coffeeand crum And and they're going to have
a main Street food tan and Tasteof Memphis. So everything you can pretty
much expect from from a festival aspart of everything else that goes on in
downtown that day. I think that'sfantastic. Bob, Yeah, yeah,
it's uh, it's gonna really beyou know, with the groups that are
also involved. We got just themusic, but then we have a whole

(03:30):
we'll call um. I don't knowhow many I've counted, but quite a
few. We call them community outreachministries. These aren't churches again, I'm
not against churches, but we're tryingto stay away from churches and more towards
you know, like Aspire and Sure, Voice of Hope, Pregnancy Centered u

(03:53):
TV thirty nine. Yeah, RamaAcademy, which is a new colleague or
a Christian school starting up, childevangelist Chewship, and the list goes on
and on. And these are alloutreach ministries that individuals are a part of
that are touching people's lives in muchdifferent ways, but they're all part of

(04:15):
the same. We'll call the Churchof Marian or the Body of Christ and
Maria, which is I think verycool to bring everybody together and kind of
unify together and you know, speakthe same of you language, so to
speak, that we're here to servethe Lord and serve the people Marian.
I love it. The twenty twentythree Marian Prayers Fast to August twelfth,
eleven to three at Founders Park, presented by the Mary and Christian Alliance,

(04:39):
Bring your chair, kids, area, unity prayer, live music, food
trucks, just a little bit ofeverything going on. You get details on
our website at magic dot com prettymuch any time for that. But you
have another event coming up too,Bob, we wanted to talk about you've
got a downtown Marion Senior Day happening, and I know this is in conjunction
with the work that you do atKingston Residence of Marion, and tell us

(05:00):
about this one coming up on Wednesday, August twenty three. I love this
well, you know, I'm actuallyvery excited about this. Um. You
know, I I love downtown.I mean I've lived downtown right now.
We were close enough. I walkdowntown in ten minutes, and so downtown
is very important to me. Andwith all the new growth and exciting stuff

(05:23):
that's going on downtown to all thebusinesses. Um, the one the one
area that was we'll call lacking,if if that's a good word, is
seniors. You know, since Iwork at Kingston, you know my you
know, I think I'm a seniorof myself, So I know the challenges
that can be for a senior tothink about going downtown. Um, if

(05:45):
they're not familiar with downtown, you'relike the parking and where are the stores
at? And you know what's availableand if you haven't been downtown and learned
experience that you don't realize it.So, UM, we wanted to make
a senior friendly day, and soI went to the Downtown Business Collaborative to
the owners of Downtown. I say, hey, we'd like to sponsor a

(06:08):
senior day downtown and to encourage seniorsto begin coming downtown and begin to know
what's downtown and feel comfortable and safenowhere to park, nowhere they can walk
safely, know what stores would beappropriate for them or what restaurants, and
just kind of begin to get themfamiliar with and comfortable with coming downtown.

(06:31):
And so that was my whole desire. And so what we did there's two
things that seniors love to do.One is play bingo and we're going to
have that at the Brickyard from elevenuntil noon on that day. And then
they also love live entertainment, andeverybody knows John Garde sure is going to
be entertaining from noon to one atthe Brickyard that day. There's just a

(06:56):
five dollars cover charge to come inand play bingo and for the entertainment that
day, and so that I washoping, you know, to bring seniors
downtown for that. Then at theend of that we will help them disperse.
We have a shuttle service that's goingto be available to get them to
take them around downtown. We havesomebody going to do some life or some

(07:19):
tour via tour guide, and sowe just it's a day for seniors.
And the long term goal for thedowntown businesses is to make this a weekly
maybe not with the Beingo and entertainmentevery week, but make it Wednesdays for
example, Senior Day in downtown mirrorokay and play out the red carpet every

(07:41):
Wednesday for seniors to feel comfortable comingdowntown. I love that, and you
get details on that as well onour website, easy to find out in
the events calendar. So it's reallycool. The Downtown Marying Senior Day we'll
be happening with discounts and things likethat eleven am to five pm Wednesday,
August twenty third. All those detailsare there, and realize that Bingo the
entertainment will be inside the brickyard fivedollars at the door to take advantage of

(08:05):
that. But I love everything elsewith it, Bob. I love the
fact that you're giving everybody an opportunityto get out and really enjoy and learn
about downtown Marrio
