Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining me on the show this morning is Mitch Mon
and Mitch is with Ashley Furniture Home Store and Mitch,
welcome to the show. First of all, thanks for being
here all.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Thanks so much for having me. Appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
You know, we're going to talk about an event you
guys done for a number of years. It's your Veterans Celebration.
It's coming up Sunday, October twenty seventh, one to four
at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum right here on the fairgrounds
in Marian. But of course we're inviting we're inviting veterans
from all over. Mitch, why don't you tell everybody how
the event works and let's just start with that.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Sure, Well, the event got started almost twenty years ago.
We went to our team, all of our associates, and
we asked them, you know, we can be a little
bit important to a whole bunch of folks at JC
team here, you know, a Moose softball team here, or
we can be really important to one group. What would
you choose? And they chose to be really important to
one group, and they choose they chose veterans, which just

(00:51):
we were so thankful for that. Our families has a
history of military service. We can trace it all the
way back to the Revolutionary War. On our mom's side,
our dad was army. My brother Ben and myself are
both former Army rangers. So that's why you will hear
us give a lot of guff to the other services.
We'd appreciate your service, but we're gonna make fun of

(01:11):
you regardless. So in early two thousands, we started in
Bell Fountain at our store there. We had a little breakfast.
We had maybe fifty veterans showed up and we served
them and we had a little some giveaways. But it
has grown and grown and grown over the years. Last
year I think we had almost nine hundred veterans and
their families join us. We're gonna give away almost thirty

(01:33):
thousand dollars in furniture and services and prizes. We hope
that to eclips that nine. I'd love to have a
thousand veterans in their families here this year. So it's
just grown. It's Christmas for David, Ben and myself, my
mom and dad's We sell furniture to do this event.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, and what's nice, Ben, is the fag Mitch rather
that you guys are giving away thirty thousand dollars in
furniture as well as a lot of other things. Talk
about that giveaway and some of that.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Stuff, and that's the fun part of it. Of course,
we're going to feed you. We've got a phenomenal barbecue
meal going. We've got Donna's Delicious Donuts, ConA ice cream
cheesecake Castle is going to be there, so we're gonna
make sure you've got plenty of food. We've got lots
of activities for all ages. We've got pony rides, bounce houses,
face painting, corn hole. But the giveaway is really Ben David, myself,

(02:23):
our company's way of giving back to those men and
women who stood up to the line, raised their hand
in square, the oath no purchase. This is not about
selling anything. This is nothing more, nothing less than our
way to say thank you to those men, women and
their families just as important because they were part of
that service as well, to say thank you and to
show our appreciation to them.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Oh wow, Mitch, I think it's fantastic. Obviously, you guys
have done it for a number of years. You're doing
it centrally located in a big room with a big
parking lot, so there's lots of space for everybody to
get there, get parked, and be able to enjoy the event,
which is Sunday, October twenty seventh, one to four at
the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Fairgrounds here in Marion.
And you can get details on the Veterans Celebration by

(03:06):
checking out Ashley's websites. But we're asking folks to get
registered in advance, and we'd like for you to do
that in the next couple of days. Actually, the RSVPs
are technically due the seventeenth of October, but they need
to know how much food, who all's coming, So you're
asking veterans families whoever is coming to enjoy, to go
ahead and RSVP Mitch tell everybody how they can do that.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
There's a couple different ways you can do it. One
in the store. We've got QR codes and all of
our stores you can scan an RSVP there. You can
also do it at the website event bright dot com.
That's probably the easiest. If you're not going to stop
by one of our locations, we hope you do, say hi,
but if you don't, event bright dot com search for
Veterans Celebration and Marion, Ohio, and it'll take you to

(03:51):
the link where you can RSVP and let us know
how many are coming. You can also go to our website,
which is my furnitureanmattress dot com. If you go to
about us there are some areas, there's some events where
you can see that RSVP link as well, but probably
in the store with the QR code or event bright
dot com is going to be the simplest way to
do it for you.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, it's such a great event obviously, and you guys
have done it for a long time. You've got it
figured out. Everybody always has a good time and hopefully
I know in the past you've been fortunate to have
wonderful weather, which works out well because you'll have people
going from the Fountain area, the Mansfield area, obviously Marion
above north and south, so they do come from quite

(04:32):
a way. So it all gets started at one o'clock Sunday,
October twenty seventh at the Fairgrounds in Marion and the
Veterans Memorial Coliseum. So you've got that opportunity to come
out with your family and friends that just have a
wonderful time. And Mitch, once again, thank you for your service,
your family, and thank you so much for putting on
this event to really celebrate people who have you know,

(04:53):
obviously done everything they can for us. I love that.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Yeah, if you're a veteran you're listening to this, please
please go on and register. Let every veteran that you know,
if you're a member of a VFW or American Vets post,
get it up in your hall. We want as many
veterans in their families there as we possibly can to
say thank you and show our appreciation.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I love it. Once again, a fantastic event. You are
certainly welcome. The annual Veterans Celebration free to all Veterans,
friends and family, Sunday, October twenty seventh, one to four
Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Mary in Ohio, right here on the
fairgrounds in Marion, and certainly brought to you by Ashley
Furniture Home Store. And you can get those details. All

(05:35):
those RSVPs are there. You can do it with event Bright,
you can do it at the store on the posters
that you see, or you can certainly go to Ashley's
website and click on the events area and you'll see
that link right there. Mitch, thank you so much for
the time, appreciate and good luck with the event.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Thank you so much, Paul, truly appreciate you having me
