Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining me in studio today is the cast from Annie,
and we're so excited to have them. Annie is coming
to the Marion Palace Theater, presented by the Marian Community
Foundation at the Palace on July twelfth and thirteenth and
July eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth and directed by Claire Cook.
The summer musical should be Unreal and I've got the
(00:21):
cast here in studio. Morgan's Orts is with us as
well from the Marion Palace Theater. Morgan, good morning, How
are you.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
I'm good, Paul, how are you?
Speaker 1 (00:28):
I am wonderful. I want you to talk a little
bit about the show and everything coming together and all
the reasons why people should come see the show.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Well, there's many reasons people should come see the show.
It is a very classic musical. I don't think there
are many people in the world who don't know what
Annie is.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Sure.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
It is a lovely story of an orphan who is
out there looking for her parents and in the process
finds a wonderful home and a new family to be
a part of. It is directed by Claire Cook. Like
you said, the other Powerhouse team members are assistant director
choreographer Christy Wink vocal director Jamie Rollins, and the orchestra
is conducted by Rick Barrett. That's one of I think
(01:07):
a great thing about the Palace is there's not a
lot of theaters that are able to do a live
orchestra anymore, and we are very lucky to have such
talented musicians in our town.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yeah, and the space to do it. I mean obviously
when you look at the Palace and you know, if
you go around the state even or even farther than that,
and you go to community theaters, some that are historic,
some that are a little bit newer, you don't see
the type of space that you have in the Marion
Palace Theater, especially with an orchestra pit in the ability
to be able to do that and have the talent
(01:36):
to pull it off. So we are very blessed here
in Marion to have the Palace and everything that you
guys do. So this is fun. You guys have been
practicing for a while. I know auditions were back in May.
So Morgan, why don't we get started and let's have
all of the cast members that are here introduce themselves,
maybe tell us where they go to school and what
their part is in the musical.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Go ahead, guys, Well, I play miss again and I'll
pass it along to the orphans.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Okay, okay, we know morgan story because she's in here
all the time, which is great, So yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
I'm like Cee Eden's I go to Harding High School
and I played Duffy.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Okay, and who's next.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I'm Allison Kelly.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
I play Okay, all right, all right, all right.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
And I too.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Oh. You go to the school at Upper Sandusky excellent, good, good, good,
good good. Who's next?
Speaker 3 (02:28):
My name is Nan Rawlins. I play Annie and Marion.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Had excellent good stuff. All right, guys.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
My name is Vien Leval and I go to River
Valley Middle School and I'm July.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
My name's Elena Adams.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
I'm homeschooled, and I played Tessie. Okay, my name's Zoey Sarah.
I go to River Valley and I play Pepper.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
All right, Well that's fun. Slide that mic, the one
that's got number two on it. Yeah, slide that over
to the young lady playing Annie. I've got a couple
of questions for her real quick. So so tell me
a little bit about what you've done on stage. Because
you have the lead in Annie, talk a little bit
about some of the things that you've done before before
you came here.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Well, I had to do lots of singing and practice
with other people. M h. I'd wear a bunch of
wigs to practice with the hair movements, and then I
just had lots of fun, hard work.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Okay, okay, okay, So move that mic over here to
the three over here on this side, and I'm gonna
ask you three, and any of them can chime in,
how much do you enjoy working with Daddy Warbucks? Go ahead,
(03:50):
chime in.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I don't know that those three really have much to
do with it.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Oh, you guys don't have the pleasure anyway. So yeah,
he's a good guy. So Annie is coming. It's going
to be an unbelievable show. July twelfth and thirteenth of
July eighteenth and nineteenth and twentieth, and Morgan side your
mic over to the young ladies over here, and I
want to ask you guys what your favorite part of
(04:15):
the show is and why you think people need to
come and see it. When I make fun of this,
oh and you may okay, I love that. Do you
like that part? Oh?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
She does a great job.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Go ahead, running around the room, talk a little bit
about what your favorite part of the show is, ladies.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
I really like how we like open up the show.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, and like have like our own little part. Oh,
that's really cool. So everybody has a second or two
to be featured. I think that's pretty cool. So who
else would like to chime in on that?
Speaker 5 (04:47):
I like Fully Dressed.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
It's like one of our musical numbers, and it's just
really fun.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
We have like a dance break and it's really upbeat,
and we gonna like stand on tables and stuff and it's.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
A lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Oh, I love that. Talking about your favorite songs, that's cool.
How about you, guys, what's your favorite song in the show?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
I really like Fully Dressed because I have a solo
in it and it's just really and it's just like
a really good song.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Well, you're allowed to like it because you have a solo.
That's perfectly Okay, how about you, what's your favorite song
or favorite part of the show.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
My favorite part is also Fully Dressed because our dance
is really fun and we just do a lot of
fun stuff in it.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Okay, okay, okay, let's go to you over here. I'm
going to ask you one very important question. I want
you to tell everyone who's listening, give them a reason
why they need to come to the show.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
It's like very fun and like there's nothing like really
boring about it mm hm. And it's just like something
to do if you're like you don't have anything to do,
and and like sometimes it's important to come like watch
these shows because like if you want to get interested
in this kind of stuff, then this is like one
(05:57):
of the shows you should.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Watch, you know what. That is a fantastic point. That's
an opportunity for everybody to see because at one time,
you know, everybody in this studio they were like I
don't know if I really want to do a show
or not. But now here you are an Annie and
you're doing shows and you're having fun, you're meeting new friends,
and how cool is this? Right? I mean, that's a
(06:18):
great point. I'm glad you said that, Morgan. Take that
microphone back for a quick second. I want to ask
your thoughts on the show itself and kind of maybe
give an invite to folks and families on why they
need to come to the show and what are some
of the big reasons for coming to the show.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, I think this is a great opportunity for a
family friendly event in town. This show is for everybody,
as little as I don't know. Toddler's all the way
up to the sky's the limit. This show has something
for everyone. Again, we are so privileged to have a
live orchestra and a great team putting this all together.
The cast and crew has been working so hard. It's
something everyone will enjoy.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
I love that it is presented by the Marion Community
Foundation Annie July twelfth and thirteenth, and eighteenth, nineteenth, and
twentieth at the historic Marion Palace Theater Marypalace dot org.
To get details, buy tickets, get all of the info
that you need, not only on this show, but the
entire season. And Kirk, if you would step over there
to mike number two. I know you're over in that corner.
(07:15):
You can move that mic right there. Yep, just grab that,
bring it up to you, and let's talk for a
second about not only this show obviously, but you've got
quite a lineup coming up. This begins the season for
you guys, and you've got quite a lineup just even
the next couple of months. Talk about that from me.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
Yes, well, Annie is opening our ninety seventh season of
the Palace Theater and so ear will run the next
two weekends July twelfth through the twentieth, August twenty second,
twenty third, twenty fourth. We're doing something different. We're doing
a dinner theater. We haven't done a dinner theater in
a couple of years. But this is a show that
(07:53):
many people at the Palace have been wanting to do.
George Tram actually brought it to my attention a couple
of years ago, and we tried to get it a
couple of years ago. We ended up not getting the
rights to it, but they're finally available. It's called Tony
and Tina's Wedding, and it is half scripted and half
improv and so it gives you like two pages of
you know, these are the lines, and then it says okay,
(08:15):
then two pages of this is what happens. Make it
up on your own. So we've got Julie evander Hoffe
as the director and she directed at River Valley High
School for thirty years, just recently retired, so we lured
her out of retirement to do that, and she's real
excited about it. September we've got John, Ben and Ryan
they're doing a show in the Pavilion called World Tour
(08:37):
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Not only will that be cool, they are such good friends.
It makes the show so much better, you know what
I mean, just because their buddies and have been for
a long time. That's a great show.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
Oh yeah, have you seen the World Tour?
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Well, I think I've been part of it.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Yeah, So I think that's kind of tongue in cheek
title that I'm not sure they're going anywhere, but the
May Pavilion not so much.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
Also in September we've gotten very about the Texas Tenors.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Oh absolutely, yeah, September twentieth.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
So that's what's happened the next couple of months.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Yeah, And of course you got Mozart in the May Coming,
which which has been kind of a really cool deal
that you guys have been able to do. And that's
that's nice that the Maze help put that on. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
That is sponsored by Alan Ingrid May and they're very
We got a good relationship with the Central Ohio Symphony
down in Delaware, so they're not only doing two classical
concerts in the May with smaller ensembles. They're bringing the
whole orchestra the week after Christmas at the Palace, they're
doing a Sunday Mountain a show of their songs of
the season.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
And did I hear right that that those guys that
symphony is actually building a venue for themselves down there?
Is that what I've heard? That is news to me. Yeah,
maybe maybe it's a rumor, but I heard they were
building a venue for them to do there because they're
growing tremendously that organization. So that's really cool. Annie coming
up July twelfth and thirteenth, eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth at
(09:58):
the historic Marian Palace Theater. Of course, it is directed
by Claire Cook and an amazing cast and obviously an
amazing set of folks that are helping to put it on.
If you want to buy your tickets, Marionpalace dot Org
is the place to get started. You can certainly stop
at the box office. I would not wait until the
show to get your tickets because with this being such
(10:20):
a family show, uh and everybody like going to the Palace,
I would say those tickets are probably gonna get eaten
up pretty quick. But what a great show, fun stuff man,
you got some good things going on, Kirk, thank you.
And what a fun cast?
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Yeah yeah, they're pretty okay. I think we should all
close by saying I love you miss hannagain, yes, one, two, three,
I love you.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Miss hand. How awesome is that? Annie? We hope you
come to the Marion Palace Theater and enjoy the show.
