Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Tell you in the Big Three today, zorin Mam Donnie
has reached out to the White House asking for a
meeting with President Trump.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
The mayor of New York I will say, would like
to meet with us and we'll work something out. But
he would like to come to Washington and meet and
we'll work something out. We want to see everything worked
out well for New York.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
That's a change in dialogue. In Israel, Mayor Eric Adams
met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin net Yahoo and before
the meeting, Mayor Adams was asked on Israeli TV if
Mayor elect Mom Donnie was an anti Semite.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
I think that when you talk about not doing business
with Israel, not willing to acknowledge that you're going to
march in Israeli DA Parade, not being willing to state
you're going to come and visit Israel in other countries,
it sends the wrong message and he has to define that.
But I know those who are part of the DSA

(00:57):
and those who are marched in our streets saying horrific things,
that is a clear sign of anti Semitism to me.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
There are reports that Donald Trump has made up his
mind on whether or not to send troops into Venezuela
or the question is would he send land troops? Is
there anything you're ready to rule out of this port?

Speaker 5 (01:17):
You're ruling out US troops on the ground that I.

Speaker 6 (01:20):
Don't rule at anything.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
We just have to take care of it.

Speaker 6 (01:23):
As well.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
They dumped hundreds of thousands of people into our country
from prisons. As Democrats and Congress obsess over Epstein. The
Trump administration is hyper focused right now on bringing prices down.

Speaker 7 (01:39):
I think twenty twenty six, thanks to President Trump's signature plans,
is going to be a great year for working Americans,
for the markets. I call it parallel prosperity. Main Street
and Wall Street can both do great, but I think
Main Street's going to have a great year in twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Speaking of bringing prices down after pressure from Donald Trump,
the cost of the weight loss drugs like ozempic and
we'll go VGLP one drugs go down, and if you
can wait until next year, it's going to be even cheaper.

Speaker 8 (02:09):
And on the horizon non injectable weight loss medications in
the form of a daily pill, which they say will
be even less expensive when available starting at one hundred
and forty nine dollars a month.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Now, let's get to John Decker. A lot going on
the centers in Washington, WR White House and Washington correspondent
and host of the new podcast, The White House Briefing
Room with John Decker that can be found on the
iHeartRadio app, and he joins us every Tuesday and Thursday
at this time, John, let's talk about Venezuela and a

(02:41):
carrier group now being in the Caribbean. Somebody said, it's
like twenty percent of our naval forces are now there.
Are we getting ready for an invasion?

Speaker 6 (02:52):
Well, it depends what President Trump says and what day
he says it. Because on Sunday he said he wants
to talk to Nicole Maduro, the president of Venezuela, opened
for discussions. But then, as you point out, you know,
actions speak louder than words, because you have the Navy's
largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, now in

(03:14):
the Caribbean, and they are sending a very important message
to Nicholas Maduro.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
The President would.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
Very much like to see him leave power in Venezuela.
And what better way to do it by showing this
naval force in the Caribbean, and also it extends beyond
the Caribbean. We have significant amount of forces now based
in Puerto Rico as well, so a lot of firepower
that can be used against Nicholas Maduro and his regime

(03:42):
if the President wishes to do that.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
And he seemed to send a threat to the president
of Mexico as well, saying he's not very happy with
Mexico in that they haven't secured the border the way
he would like.

Speaker 6 (03:56):
Well, the President threatening Mexico, threatening the tree of Colombia
as well, the President indicating that perhaps the US would
initiate military action against either of those countries. So the
President really flexing his muscles. And it's at odds with
you know what the president campaigned on not only in

(04:16):
twenty sixteen, Larry, but also in twenty twenty four, the
end of the so called never ending Wars. The president
really has been reluctant to use military force, certainly boots
on the ground, while he's president of the United States.
And yet that's exactly what the President is threatening right now.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Do you think that this is just a big threat,
and of course he has to say yes, he'd go
through with an invasion or the threat is hollow. Do
you think it's just a big threat to get what
he wants.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
Well, it's some way to you know, make a threat.
I mean, you know, to bring all of this naval
power into the Caribbean, you know, I mean, you don't
do that just you know, for a cruise, you know,
through the Caribbean. You do this to show your firepower
and to extend your four in that area. So look,
I don't know what the President is thinking. The President

(05:06):
said on Friday of last week Larry that he's already
made up his mind in terms of what he'd like
to do as it relates to Venezuela, obviously not indicating
how he's made up his mind specifically, but clearly, you know,
this is an area of the world that has gotten
the attention of the President's national security team. His national
security team meeting at the White House last week in

(05:28):
the Situation Room that includes Marco Rubio, the Secretary of
State and simultaneously the National Security Advisor, as well as
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. So there are options that
are on the table for the president. Always are options
on the table. It's just a matter of whether he
invokes some of those options, which could include ground forces

(05:49):
on the ground in Venezuela.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Now, as I understand it, he'd have to be really careful,
especially when it comes to Maduro. Now, if he wanted
to have air strikes and he wanted to take out
some of the cartels where they're making cocaine and or fentanyl,
he can you know, he could probably get away with
that and not upset China and Russia don't they have
ties to Maduro.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
They do have ties to Maduro, So you know, they
haven't really indicated that they're up set in any way
in terms of the naval force, the naval power that
the US has brought into the region. But both Russia
and China are indeed allies of Venezuela, specifically of Venezuela's president,

(06:31):
Nicholas Maduro.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Now let's talk about the Epstein files. It sounds like
at this point they are going to be released. The vote,
somebody was saying, Rokana was saying, he's hoping for a
unanimous vote.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
I think it will be a unanimous vote.

Speaker 6 (06:45):
The reason being is, before you know, the president changed
his mind on Sunday night with that social media post
urging Republicans to support this measure. You have every Democrat
in the House indicating they would support this legislation, and
then with the President essentially endorsing the bill, I think
it's going to be a unanimous vote coming out of

(07:06):
the House of Representatives today. And what does that bill do.
It would compel the Department of Justice to release all
of its files related to the criminal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Then, if it.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
Passes the House, and it likely will as we just mentioned,
it then moves on to the Senate, and the Senate
Majority Leader Larry that's John Thune, has not yet indicated
whether he bring this bill on the floor for a
vote in the Senate, but you got a figure he would.
I mean, you know, after a unanimous vote in the House,
that's a lot of pressure, a lot of momentum to
see a vote take place in the US Senate.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Right, and also pressure from Donald Trump, who's saying, just
release them now, it's not going to hurt me, Just
go ahead and release them. So I would think Thun's
going to at least have a vote where that vote goes,
I don't think anybody dare vote against it at this point.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
Well, that's right. You know, because of the vote that
we'll see happening in the House. That puts a lot
of pressure on Republican senators. And if the President endorses
the legislation, why wouldn't he for the Senate Then Yeah,
you would expect a unanimous vote.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
You would expect it to be signed by the president.

Speaker 6 (08:12):
But here is the fly in the ointment, Larry, and
that's the Attorney General, Pam Bondi. Pam Bondi could even
after these votes take place, say, there is an ongoing investigation,
as you know, launched last week into ties between Jeffrey
Epstein and those high profile Democrats like Larry Summers and
former President Bill Clinton. And because of that ongoing investigation,

(08:35):
I cannot.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Release these files right now.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
That could still happen, and that would frustrate a lot
of people.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Let's talk about
the warming relationship between Zora and Mom, Donnie and Donald Trump.
Out of nowhere, Donald Trump says, y'all meet with them.
I wanted New York to do. Well, how did that
change come about?

Speaker 6 (08:57):
Well, look, he's going to be the come January, the
first of the nation's most populous city. The President is
a native New Yorker. The President wants to see New
York do well. I think the President, in wanting to
meet with Mandamie wants to see whether he is going
to govern the way he campaigned just trying to secure
the Democratic nomination as a democratic socialist, or if he's

(09:21):
going to work with the administration and campaign as someone
who wants to see New.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
York do well without all.

Speaker 6 (09:29):
The focus on some of those socialist policies. So, you know,
the president you know today may have a good feeling
about the incoming mayor of New York City, but that
could change tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Larry, you know the way the president is right.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Especially if Mondani tries to lecture him on affordability, that's
not going to go really well. You can get more
from John Decker on the iHeartRadio app. Just search for
his podcast, White House Briefing Room with John Decker, and
be sure to set a preset. John's going to be
back with us Thursday at seven oh five. Look forward
to it.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
John, Thanks so much, Larry, you have a great day,
Thank you too.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Coming up, you're gonna hear the chilling voice of a
Titanic crew member and survivor describing his leap into the
icy Atlantic and find out who he is blaming for
the ship's tragic end. Plus tickets to see air Supply
at A twenty five. By the way, the first talk

(10:24):
back is about New York. Bagel Fest twenty twenty five
was held at City Field drew over two thousand people
to find out who has the best bagel in the world. Larry,
not only has New York been losing the Texas Like
all the people going to Texas and all the business
is going to Texas, New York keeps on losing.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
But now New.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
York lost Bagelfest because the best bagel voted by the
people at Begelfest was from Texas.

Speaker 9 (10:57):
Gotta love it.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Yeah, I don't love it. Uh, He's absolutely correct. The
big winner was Starship Bagel in Dallas, taking home the
best Bagel title.

Speaker 9 (11:11):
I don't believe it.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
You can be possible.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
You have to try one of their bagels.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
I will.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
You're gonna try one of their bagels, Send it on over.
You have to contact Starship Bagel.

Speaker 10 (11:23):
I have never been to any other place in this
country that has better bagels than New York or maybe
New Jersey.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
You've been made in Starship Bagel. It's not possible, all right,
more talk facts.

Speaker 11 (11:40):
I'm on zep bound and it's also a weight loss drug.
It costs me five hundred dollars a month and I
have no insurance, so this is out of pocket. This
has cheered me of my addiction to sugar, my anxiety.
I focus better. It's a miracle drug.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
It is a miracle drug, and it's coming down. God
bless you for spending that kind of money to improve
your health. And it's coming down. It's already coming down
because of Donald Trump. That's just a couple of hundred hours.
It's still expensive, but it'll be down more next year
when they come out with the pill form of it.
I forgot to mention that too. My daughter's on it

(12:23):
and she looks great now. She's lost over thirty pounds.
She had three kids and she put on a lot
of weight and then she has it all off. Now
she looks tremendous. She feels so much better. But listen
to this. When you take these GLP one drugs and
you eat fatty foods or you drink alcohol, it makes
you sick. That's what it did with her, Like she

(12:46):
all of a sudden she just stopped eating all those
things because she just didn't feel well doing it. So
it makes you better for a whole lot of different reasons.
Thanks so much for your talk backs. Keep them coming.
We do love to hear from you. And I we've
called back the person that just had the talk back.
I'd like to know how long you were on it
and how much you lost. It's because it is a

(13:09):
miracle drug and it's worth its weight in gold, and
unfortunately have to pay gold when you buy it. You
got to pay a lot of money to get it.
That should come down, all right, We've you know, the
world is still obsessed with what happened in the Titanic.
It might be the most or at least one of
the most famous disasters in US history. Certainly the most

(13:31):
famous ship wreckers ship going down with the Titanic, we
always come across new crew members and I guess the
BBC did an interview and this is coming to light
in nineteen seventy nine with Major Frank Wynold Prentice, who
was an assistant storekeeper on the Titanic, and he recounted

(13:53):
the chaos when they realized the ship was going down.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
At the end it was.

Speaker 12 (13:58):
It was chaotic the end.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
What was happening? Well, everybody was.

Speaker 12 (14:02):
Crying, praying, trying to get into the few lifees that
were left. And now it was pretty sad at the end.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yeah, it was pretty sad at the end. And who
does he blame for all of this? Who do you
blame for this catastrophe?

Speaker 12 (14:18):
I blame the bridge. I think a lot of the
blame was on Bruce's made the chairman. He was the
chairman of the shipping He was a chairman of the
shipping line. And I'm very much afraid he influenced Captain
Smith so much that we and we went straight for
the ice. There was no question about it. He's absolutely
thrown away. That ship was thrown away. Why there Why

(14:40):
for the sake of speed?

Speaker 2 (14:42):
For the sake of speed? One last thing, this is
how he survived.

Speaker 12 (14:46):
Well, I dropped off the stern. Just what she sank.
She was almost vertical when I left her. I was lying.
I was hanging on to the board that says keep
clear propeller blades. But at the very end I was
lying on it and then I let go and I
just missed the propellers on.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
The way down.

Speaker 12 (15:05):
How big was the draw, I don't know how well
over one hundred feet just.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
From those the recounting of it, you realize how good
the Titanic movie was, and just captured all of that
so well.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Now.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Jacqueline Carl with the seven thirty News, Jacqueline.

Speaker 5 (15:20):
The House is prepping for a vote to release all
of the Jeffrey Epstein files. The Chamber is expected to
take up procedural measures today which could start to pave
the way to force the Department of Justice to release
all of the Epstein investigation files. It comes as newly
released documents show President Trump mentioned in Epstein emails dating
back to twenty eleven, and starting today, the MTA is

(15:42):
giving away Omni cards to select customers. With the agency
preparing to do away with the Metro card.

Speaker 13 (15:49):
Sales from Metro cards and December thirty first, with the
MTA fully transitioning to Tap and Ride in twenty twenty six,
the MTA is trying to create awareness of this by
giving away hundreds of Freeways saved Omni cards the customers
who transfer their balances from Metro cards to Omni. This
new system will allow writers to pay directly with Digital
Wallet's contactless cards or the omnicard itself. I'm Scottpringle WRDWS.

Speaker 5 (16:13):
So this is a story close to my heart because
it involves revenge. Revenge. Quitting or suddenly resigning from a
job without notice is a way to show frustration is
on the rise. According to a new study from Monster,
the employment site survey of more than thirty six hundred
workers across the country finds that forty seven percent have
done it and fifty seven percent have seen at least

(16:35):
one coworker revenge quit. The biggest reasons employees do it
our toxic work environment, poor management or leadership, and feeling
disrespected or undervalued. So most workers don't walk out over money.
They do it over culture, leadership, and a lack of
respect on the job. Now, Larry, have you ever in
your career wanted to revenge quit and what was the reason?

Speaker 9 (16:58):
No?

Speaker 2 (16:58):
I have not. I really believe this is a new thing.
This is like a gen Z thing.

Speaker 9 (17:04):
Now.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
It ain't new now, I have never heard of it.

Speaker 13 (17:11):
I have.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
I had a place that I worked at that I
was I would have loved to revenge quit, but I didn't.
I found another gig and gave notice. But it was
it was just because it was so toxic. It was
so toxic and all of that lack of respect and
toxic work environment, poor management, leadership. It was such a nightmare.

(17:36):
But I think a lot of people have at least
felt this way at least once in their life, whether
or not they've acted on it, and I'm interested to
know what the reason was. How about you, Natalie, have
you ever had a feeling like that?

Speaker 10 (17:48):
Considering I have been at war longer than my kids
have been alive. Well, if I did, I am such
a whimp because I've been here a long time.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
No, I'm not advocating for revenge quitting. I'm just saying
I think most people have felt that way at least
once in their life, and I'd love to know the
reasons or the stories, because I've seen people do it.
I've seen people walk out the door without saying a
word and never come back without a word, and people
that you wouldn't expect.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Yeah. Still think it's a new thing. I've never heard
of the term revenge. I mean, I know people have
done it in the past. People have done it in
the past, but I'm not like now it's a thing.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but people have always done it, whether
or not we had a term for it.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Yeah, And I think it's.

Speaker 10 (18:35):
A personality thing too, because I don't think I could
do it, no matter how unhappy I was, I would
be afraid of.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Oh, it's absolutely a personality thing.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
Yeah, I just think I don't think that's me.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
So all right, thanks a lot, Jacqueline cal Carl Revenge Quitter.
We're going live Jerusalem with ABC's your Dana Miller. Mayor
Eric Adams is on the ground in Israel right now.
He's touring Hamas terror tons and areas devastated on October seventh.
Plus he's urging Israel's Prime minister to attend the New

(19:09):
York inauguration. We can figure out why he wants that
to happen. We'll talk to Jordana about it next. And
now let's talk about the Sea Crane Radio, the c
Crane cc Wi Fi three Internet radio. Specifically, it is
one of the tops of their brands. They have a
lot of radios, but this one has Internet capabilities, so

(19:33):
you don't have to walk around with a smartphone with
a bad speaker to listen to your favorite shows. They
have it coming over right over the Sea Crane Radio
with a really loud volume control and perfect audio. Let
me give you all the reasons why the cc Wi
Fi three is so special. I just talked about the audio.

(19:53):
Of course, it's better than any smartphone. It's better than
any computer in the world, and you can listen to
me it all has. It has access to the best
radio stations from all over the country and the world
for you to discover. You don't have to sign up
for an app. And there is no microphone, there's no
ads on the screen, no monthly fees. It has a

(20:15):
full remote control. It has a superior reception at a
much greater distance from your Wi Fi router. To order
the CCI Fi three, call c Crane at eight hundred
five two two eight eight six three. Once again, that's
eight hundred five two two eight eight six three. You
can also visit ccrane online at ccrane dot com. That's

(20:41):
c c r A n dot com. You can see
all of their products there. Also it's available on Amazon. Well,
we haven't talked about the Middle East too much, and
that's a good thing, right. That means that there's some
piece there, that means that there is not the fight
that there was in the past, and that the peace

(21:01):
plan is holding and moving forward. One of the reasons
New Yorkers are interested in Israel right now in the
Middle East is because Mayor Adams is there and Mayor
Adams is taking tours. He met with Benjamin Netanyahu. Let's
find out more about his visit and what's happening with

(21:22):
the peace plan with Jordana Miller, ABC News correspondent in Jerusalem. Jordana,
I'm interested when Mayor Adams is there to visit. Of course,
it's big news here in New York. Is it big
news in Israel?

Speaker 14 (21:37):
It is I have to say, he's being treated like
a rock star. Wow, he met with us. Yeah, as
you said, he met with the Israeli Prime Minister. He
met with the President of Israel, Isaac Hebrtzog. He met
as well with the Foreign Minister, Guidon Saar. I mean,
you know, making the rounds, if you will, and really

(21:59):
just everyone and heaping a lot of praise and gratitude
on him. I mean for Israelis and for some Jews.
The election of Mom Dannie has set off alarm bells
and now it's you know, I think the leadership here
in Israel is feeling grateful that they had Adams, who

(22:20):
as you know, has been a very big supporter of Israel.
He came to visit here in Israel in the you know,
in the first weeks after Hamas's deadly attack on October seventh.
He has been vocal in his fight indeed and in
in word and indeed against anti Semitism. And that's something

(22:44):
that's been highlighted here and we're hearing, you know, over
and over again each leader say here, you know that
Mayor Adams is a is a true friend of Israel.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Well for a day, and it really did last I
don't know, I'm not even sure if it was a
full day. For a day, it seemed like zorin Mom
Donnie was backing off of his pledge to arrest Benjamin
Netnya who if he ever came to New York. But
in a couple of other interviews there he was again saying,
I'm going to enforce international law. And so if Netnyah

(23:17):
who comes, I have to enforce international law, which seems
to man he is going to arrest him. Has did
that come up? And has Benjamin Netanya who addressed that.

Speaker 14 (23:29):
So, first of all, with all due respect to Mom Donnie,
I mean, you're you know, he is now the mayor
of New York City. He should definitely check the facts
before he speaks. It's now he's in a position, you know,
of responsibility. Right, He's not a candidate. The United States
is not party to the International Criminal Court. They are

(23:53):
not under any obligation to implement the rulings of the
International Criminal Court. It doesn't apply to the United States.
Nataniel can go to New York, to every borough, to
every state in America and uh and no, nobody has
a there's no authority to arrest the Israeli Prime Minister. Now,

(24:14):
maybe that was a great line when he was running
for mayor of New York City, but I would suggest
he shlf it, you know, because it makes him sound
like he's not that informed on you know, what the
International Criminal Court is.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Yeah, No, he keeps saying it. He keeps saying that
he's going to do it and that he's going to enforce.

Speaker 14 (24:36):
And by the way, this is the problem people have
with Mom Dunny. Right, you need to be clear about
what the facts are when someone asks you about Hamas, Right,
you should, without blinking an eye, you should absolutely reject
what Hamas stands for. They don't represent the Palestinian people,
they are a terrorist organization. Right. You know, no any

(25:01):
American campus, let alone the top campuses in America should
be waving a Hamas flag, right. That's like waving an
Isis flag.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Right.

Speaker 14 (25:11):
So Mom, Donnie needs I think he's going to have
to try to you know, get a hold of his
rhetoric and try to stay you know, in reality and
really you know, not not actually tap into people's worst fears,
whether you're a Jew or not.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Well, he's already said he's not going to march in
the Israeli Day parade, and he also has come out
and said several times when he's been asked he will,
he refuses to call Israel a Jewish state. So I
don't think any of the I don't think things are
going to change overnight with how he feels about Israel

(25:50):
and the people of New York City elected him. It's
it is a frightening situation for Jews that live in
New York because many of them have been very vocal
saying they don't feel protected by this man.

Speaker 14 (26:06):
I mean, I hope that Mumdani turns out to you know,
be a terrific mayor in New York City. I hope
that he represents, represents and protects all of New York,
all of the residents of New York City, right, no
matter what color or creed right that they are or religion. So,

(26:26):
you know, Mamdanni now again is in a position of
responsibility and he really needs to be careful with the
words he uses.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
You know.

Speaker 14 (26:37):
Everybody, uh, you know that is part of the progressive
movement is very interested and supports an ultimate you know,
Palestinian state that's led by the Palestinians that hopefully will
be democratic.

Speaker 6 (26:52):
Right.

Speaker 14 (26:53):
What Mumdani doesn't understand is that when people call Israel
a Jewish state, it's because it is a place that
has historical connections for Jews, and Jews see themselves as
a people in the same sense that Palestinians see themselves
as a people, or the Indians, right, or any ethnic group. So,
you know, I would suggest maybe Mom, Donnie do what

(27:16):
others have done in the past, and that is, you know,
find someone to maybe get a tutorial, really an in
depth tutorial on Jews Jewish identity Israel, right, because it's
clearly doesn't quite understand things.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Yeah, I don't think he's going to do that, but
your down to that is a wonderful thought. I look
forward to talking to you again, especially as Zora and mom.
Donnie starts to after getting sworn in as he's mayor.
New international student enrollments is plumbing in the United States.
Why we asked WOR correspondent Roory O'Neill next. Apparently new

(27:52):
international student enrollments in the US is plumbing. You might
see in the headlines across the country. Several schools in
New Jersey and the New York area are now talking
about having cutbacks because they're just not making the money
because of enrollment, mainly because of international students. So what's

(28:12):
going on, Rory O'Neill, wo OR, National correspondent with US
every day at this time is covering that today, Rory,
what is going on?

Speaker 9 (28:21):
Well, it's interesting that we're seeing a significant drop off,
specifically in the number of new enrollees from other countries
in graduate programs in particular. The data shows that when
it comes to undergrad actually applications and acceptances are up
just a little bit by two percent, but it's in

(28:42):
those grad programs where we're seeing the larger declines. And overall,
just a reminder of how big this I guess industry is.
This has an estimated forty three billion dollar impact on
the US economy having all these international students in the US.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Well, you know what I'm going to ask you, why
why just the graduate programs?

Speaker 9 (29:03):
Well, right, it's difficult to figure out why graduate programs
in particular, but we know the Trump administration has been
making it a bit more difficult. They're more aggressively screening
the people coming into the country, so we're seeing some
of that. Look last week, President Trump took some heat
for an interview he did with the ingram Angle on
Fox News, saying that he is going to have six

(29:24):
hundred thousand Chinese student pieces and she's like, well, why
are letting six hundred thousand people in from China when
you're giving up a slot that could be going to
an American And he says, look, the reality is we
need to be competitive. He calls it a business decision
to bring in some of these great minds and look,
for a long time, essentially this wasn't what it was.

(29:44):
But essentially the policy was, you want to come here
from another country and excel and engineering or medical research.
Here's your diploma and a green card. Stay, you know,
because we want some of this brain power to come
into the country.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Yeah, you want the best, in the brightest at all times.
It still doesn't answer the question. And I guess what
I'm getting at is you said undergraduate admission is even up,
So it hasn't affected that at all. Do we understand?
Does anybody get why it's just the graduate programs?

Speaker 9 (30:15):
I don't see. This report from the Institute of International
Education looked at various reasons as to why, but there
are even those reasons that they give are relatively vague.
But they're showing that they're actually increasing recruiting operations in
places like India and Vietnam. So now they're prioritizing undergraduate
outreach in Vietnam and India, Brazil and South Korea, and

(30:39):
they see as a new area of opportunity starting in
the fall of twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Well, as you probably know, and we've told you before,
Rory always is covering two stories in a day that
he's assigned with and the other one he's looking at today,
or the Epstein Files, which we've been talking about throughout
most of the day. Well, how things have change with
the Epstein files.

Speaker 9 (31:01):
Huh, Yeah, pretty remarkable. And look, I know the President
has said told Republicans, go ahead, vote for it, but
we don't have to go through all this. The President
can tell the Attorney General just release the files. Remember
it was back on the fourth of July she said,
there's not enough evidence here to prosecute anyone else. We're
just going to shut down in this investigation. Nothing to

(31:23):
see here, Thanks very much, have a nice day. Well,
the President could say, well, you know, just release the
files now and make this stuff public, because it's pretty
clear there's a lot of embarrassing information here. The AG
doesn't think there's enough criminal information there, but let's see
what comes out. And it looks now like the House
could pass this unanimously, which is really a far cry

(31:45):
from where we were a week ago.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Yeah, you know, we've had several conversations today about the
Epstein files, and the one conversation that really sticks out
the man I believe it was John Decker. He was saying,
they do have a way out on this, in that
Donald Trump had instructed the Justice Department to start an
investigation uh into Bill Clinton and Larry Summers and some

(32:08):
other Democrats that might be on there. And she can
claim because there's an ongoing investigation, I can't release this.

Speaker 9 (32:16):
Well, that was why it was a lot they said,
a lot of the files weren't released under Trump one
point zero or the Biden administration was because it was
an ongoing investigation. Remember Gilain Maxwell was being prosecuted and
all that. So, uh, that was the claim then too.
And we'll see if that's if that's going to work.
And because of Attorney General BONDI did tell her prosecutor

(32:38):
in the Southern District of New York, you know, the
case is yours, go have at it. So perhaps they'll
try to restrict some of the release. But boy, at
this point.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
I don't Yes, no, that's just about to say. I'm
not sure that's going to work this time. There is
such a fewer and such an insistent and now with
both sides of the aisle teaming up together, I'm not
sure that's gonna work anymore. Rory O'Neil wr national correspondent
with us every day at this time. Rory, good to

(33:08):
talk to you. Thank you, Thanks Verry Well. Kathy Hokeel
has a mom Donnie problem, and boy does she. She
endorsed him and is now she is responsible for him.
She owns any mom Donnie problem, that's not a good
thing when you're running for reelection. You know we're gonna
ask former City Council Minority leader Joe Borelli about that

(33:32):
mom Donnie problem that's gonna come up right after the
eight o'clock news mail. Maybe a bit porky, and you
may even have type two diabetes. A million dollars of
term insurance may only cost you about two hundred bucks
a month.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
