Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's get to Jordana mill Or ABC News corresponding to
is in Jerusalem. Lives in Jerusalem, reports from Jerusalem, so
she has firsthand knowledge of what it's like there. Jordana,
what has it been like there yesterday compared to the
week before.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Well, I think there's a lot of release here that
the ceasefire between Israel and Iran seems to be holding
after kind of a rocky start. Yesterday morning it was
the first night that we had nobody in the country
had sirens, that people got a full night of sleep,
although a lot of people today talking about how they
(00:44):
woke up in the mill of the night anyway, because
I guess you know, we've been on a weird missile
attack clock right right, some people are waking up even
when there aren't no sirens. But I think there's a
lot of relief now that this chapter, this first and
(01:04):
hopefully last chapter for a long time, is over with
Iran and ISRAELI feeling pretty good about the results. I
know there's a lot of debate in the United States,
and that first Intel report that came out of the
Pentagon seeing the damage was limited and only put the
program back a few months. I mean here in Israel.
(01:25):
They are absolutely disputing that, and some sources connected to
the Israeli intelligence assessments say it's just off space, you know,
the Israelis are using. They're really what they've already proven
to be very accurate and excellent intelligence resources through these
(01:47):
twelve days of war, they've been putting those to use,
and they say they can listen in and see and
use cyber tools to break in and see what the
Iranians are really saying about what happened at FORDU, and
that you know, they're satisfied that the program has been
set back by years, not months.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
And that was that's what Israeli intelligence is saying at
this point, years not months.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Just to be clear, that's right, That's right, the Israelis
are saying years, not months. They're more in line with
what President Trump is saying, uh, and less less in
line with what that first initial report that came out
of the the Pentagon, which was uh, you know picked
up and grabbed heads, you know, making all the headlines
(02:36):
and NN in the New York Times. Yep, right, he's
really are saying no, you know the there you know,
one one source said to me, if the Israelis weren't
happy enough with the US strikes on Ford. Now, they
would have hit the facility again, and you didn't see
any of that, right. The Israelis hit the access roads
(02:56):
so nobody could get there, right, But they didn't hit
the installation again because they felt it had been damaged adequately.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Yeah, and I will say this just to not belabor
the point, but I think it's still important. These were leaks,
they were not is not an official report yet. Uh,
it was leaks that the New York Times and CNN
is reporting on. And they also even in the leaks,
they said, this is an extremely initial report and we're
going to have to find out. We're going to find
(03:24):
out a lot more over the in the week to come.
So yeah, that's that's really good to hear that. That's
that's really satisfying, because I think a lot of people
were very worried just based on what the New York
Times and CNN was reporting. You've been through these before,
but then.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Those are fantastic media outlets, but they also sometimes get
it wrong. Right. Oh yeah, no one, no one is,
no one is uh you know, no one's been pervious
to that.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah, Jordan, And I will say this they seem to
get it wrong a lot more when Donald Trump's in office.
But but that's just my opinion on it, because it
does seem like they they they jump on these things
with Donald Trump real quickly. I know, you have to
go because you have other people that you need to
talk to. But how long do you think this could hold?
(04:15):
You've been through these before.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
I mean, I think it could hold for years. I mean,
I think people think, I think people think, you know,
this is it unless the Iranians are dumb enough to
attack Israel again. But I think they're you know, they're
an irrational player. But after this, I don't think they
(04:39):
would dare to do that, you know, and Trump has
just you know, he's still there and he'll be in
office for another few years, so I think will pass this.
It's amazing how quickly the Israeli focused now is back
on Gaza, you know, and the linkage made, you know,
(05:00):
is finished. Let's you know, let's finish the job in Gaza. Uh.
You know, maybe this will provide some kind of impetus
for a new round of talks. And we're hearing the
mediators are talking now between the sides again, and I
think that's going to be you know, That's what we're
going to keep our eye on next. Will you know,
will there be another Gazza seasfire out of this as well?
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Your Deni Millermas.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Just lost their big thunder right, yeah, yep.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
And and let's talk again, if we can talk tomorrow,
that'd be great. Your Dna Miller ABC News corresponded in Jerusalem. Well,
she just made me feel a whole lot better.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
And it does get aggravating that every time we feel
like there's a big success, just because Donald Trump's name
is to it, we immediately have to come out and go, no, no, no,
it's not that great. It's not that great. The Democrats
and the media, because they're now intertwined, every single time,
(06:01):
run out to say, oh no, no, don't get too excited,
it's not that good. He has success after success after success,
and we're told that all the time. And then we
have Jerome Powell, Jerome Powell getting up there after we
just found out that gas prices are the lowest that
have been for the longest time, not gas prices, excuse me,
oil prices, but guess prices will follow on that. Right afterwards,
(06:23):
the stock market is reacting everybody. Everybody seems happy about
is this in the economic world, that Iran is not
a bad player on the world stage anymore, it's not
the enemy, it's not the evil one on the world
stage anymore. They've been taken out. Everybody says that, but
(06:43):
the New York Times runs out no, no, no, it's
not true. CNN runs out no, no, no, it's not true.
And it was interesting that she just mentioned those two specifically,
even though then she said, no, they're great media. Let's
they just got this one wrong. Well, they get things
wrong a lot. They get things wrong, way too much.
And it does always seem to be aimed at Trump,
doesn't it doesn't it. So yeah, she was being kind,
(07:08):
and you know, God bless her. But still still, this
is a great moment in not only American history but
in world history. And it's so great for people like
Jordana and her family, and I'm so happy for them.
So let's stay happy, can we.
