Speaker 1 (00:00):
Battle Trump's first press secretary. Everybody knows Sean Spicer. He
is perfect that what he wrote for The New York
Post is perfect for what we have been talking about today.
We've been talking about how difficult it is to lose weight.
We've been talking about gaining weight and how you can
lose it. Well, Sean wrote an article. And I had

(00:20):
no idea that this happened. I don't think most Americans
know this happened. Although so many Americans fight weight gain
and look for medication and important medications. And we found
out from this article that Sean Spicer was on a
very popular medication. But we also found out that in

(00:44):
the waning days of the Biden administration, he made it
so you couldn't get it as affordably anymore, that Big
Pharma was going to take over, as he calls it
as Sean Spicer calls it in his headline, and Biden's
parting gift to big Pharma will hammer GLP one patience.

(01:08):
Like me, Sean, it was a wonderful article. You called
attention to a huge problem. Then I'm sure that there's
a lot of people that are in the exact same well,
you know how many in the exact same predicament that
you are in, and they all applaud you.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Thanks, Larry, I appreciate it, and I've applaud you for
bringing this out because you know it's not an easy
thing to talk about. And but part of the reason
that I did it is because I've struggled with this
my whole life, and I finally found something that works.
And then I got notified that on March nineteenth, the
FDA as you as I said in that art and
that New York posting, and I did post it on

(01:49):
my social media feeds.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
On Twitter and Instagram if anyone wants to go look
at it.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
But basically, on March nineteenth, the FDA is going to
end what they call the shortage on trujeppetide, which is
not if there's no end. It was basically a big
payoff to big pharma on the way out the door.
The FDA could still actually postpone this decision, but what
that's going to mean is for millions of people who
get these GLP one drugs through compounded pharmacies with in

(02:17):
consultation with a doctor, the price is going to go
way up because you will have no alternative to go
to you know the big pharma companies that are charging
a lot more.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
And here's the other kicker.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
The company that I work with is a company called
I Them Health and you can you.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Know they you meet with a doctor or whatever.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
And they did a study of thousands and thousands of
their patients, like well over one hundred thousand, and upwards
of eighty percent of them said, if this goes away,
this alternative will go to the black market. That's a
scary proposition. The idea that the affordability pieces so out.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
And here's the kicker. This is why it doesn't make
sense for the government.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
If we can keep people healthier longer and of things
like type two diabetes, hip replacements, cardiovascular disease, it actually
benefits the government in the long run because the longer
that we can keep people healthy and off of long
term chronic systemic disease type drugs and medications to treat

(03:18):
all of the aforementioned things, that's actually good for the government.
So the government actually should think about this because they
actually have a stake in the long term viability of
us not just being healthier as individuals, which is a
great thing, but also financially and so this is like
what is about to happen was literally a big kiss
to big Pharma from the Biden administration on the way

(03:40):
out the door that they haven't justified, by the way,
that was the kicker in here.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Right, So there's still like a shortage of several.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Drugs, amoxicillin being one, right, I mean think about that.
That's a basic drug that a lot of kids and
the individuals use.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
You know, for healthcare. But they did this for a reason.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
And you look at some of the places that the
Biden administration official are going after they left office, no kidding,
it just happens to be going to big Pharma. And
so this is something that if the FDA doesn't act
on by March fifteenth, a huge, huge tool to keep
people healthy is gonna either become way too unaffordable for

(04:18):
millions of Americans or bad things are going to happen healthwise.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
First of all, what are you on Twitter? So people
can read the story? They can go to the New
York Post too.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Yeah, they can go to the New York Post.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Just sir Chean Spicer and go to at Sean Spicer
on Twitter or at Sean M.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Spicer on Instagram.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Unfortunately, somebody grabbed me without m before me on Insta.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
And we're gonna post it. Natalie was just making our
moves that we're going to post it as well on
seven to ten wor Okay.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
So you can thank you, thanks Natalie.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
You can read it there as well, Sean, because it
was a fascinating, fascinating article. You know, Larry I told
Natalie when we were before I got on air, literally
I'm sitting here at my kitchen counter waiting to come
to talk to you. And and the Today Show just
did a piece on this, and last night Big Farmer
launched a series of thirty second ads against this, saying,

(05:08):
you know, there's concerns about these drugs. I mean, it's
like they get it. This is big money for them,
and this is why it was such a payoff. But
for millions and millions of Americans, it's the first time
that they've had hope and found something.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
That works for them, keeps them healthy.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
And then there's also these other side effects that we're
reading about GLP one drugs in terms of, you know,
measures that they keep people from all sorts of addiction issues, gambling, drinking.
You know, So this is in our best interest as
a people, and yet the profits of Big Farmer are
taking precedent, which is just so wrong.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
I used to be on the board of the Alzheimer's Association,
and I spoke with them recently and they're all excited
because all of these weight loss drugs, it turns out,
can help prevent and help fight and help push back
forms of dementia and Alzheimer's. So I think that we
are just starting to understand as a society all of

(06:04):
the health problems that come along with weight gain, all
of the things that we fight in our lives, and
don't understand that if we just lose weight many of
things those things will go away. And this, this is
what you wrote, is why it's so.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Important, right, And the FDA Commissioner is up for nomination
in front of the Senate Health Committee today today they
are voting on the nomination of doctor Marty McClary as
the FDA Commissioner. And So if you're hearing this right
now and saying to yourself, what can I do? Call
your Senator's office and say, hey, will you ask the
FDA Commissioner to commit to keeping these compounded drugs on

(06:43):
the market for at least a little while. I get
it a shortage will stop at some point, but there's
no reason. This was literally a huge, huge payoff to
big pharma, and we need to get the FDA to
at least pause this decision and explain it before you
just arbitrarily and just pull it off the market on
March nineteenth.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Well, Sean, you have some ends with the current administration.
Can't you make a couple of phone calls?

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Well, you know, I'll do it. I can.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
But that part of the reason is that people listening
to you guys in the morning, there's a huge you know,
you guys are very influential, and so part of it
is to write the piece in the post to come
on with you guys and talk to you and get
people riled up.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
But yeah, I'm going to do everything I can because
it's personal to me.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I mean, I've dealt with this issue my whole life
and it was very difficult. You know, despite what I've
done for a living, I tend to be a very
private person.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
But I felt like.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
This was a big enough issue and it's more than
just me in this case, right, It's not like I
have a problem and I want to tell.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
The world about it.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
It's I identify with so many people in this country
who are struggling, who've tried different things, who have found
relief in GLP one drugs, and now you know, once again,
the rug's getting pulled out from under us. It's like
Lucy with the football, right, And I want to make
sure that now that we know we have a solution
for those people who are on these drugs, who are
finding help for the first time, I don't want this

(08:05):
to get either unaffordable or just pulled.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Away from them.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
And like I said, in the Iving study, they found
that eighty percent of these people will go seek black
market drugs because they're working so well for them, they're
afraid to have them taken away, and they just can't
afford the higher prices.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
It was so important that you wrote this piece. It
was so important that you shared your personal story because
it is the personal story of millions and millions of America.
And as we said, as we both said, we are
just now starting to find out how important it is
how weight loss can cure so many other ailments that
we have later in life. So Sean, kudos to you.

(08:42):
We were going to talk about some other things, but
I think this was the most important thing to talk
about today. We'll have you back on and we getary.
We can talk about the other stuff another time. Sean Spicer,
Trump's first press secretary, and host of The Sean Spicer Show.
You can find them on the iHeartRadio app and YouTube.
Thanks again, Sean,
