Speaker 1 (00:01):
That's little.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Schools burned, burned, turned.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
It down.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
I won't rocket all that thing, girl, will you rock
it out?

Speaker 5 (00:30):
Won't crawl?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Not just your good morning.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
You just got in the car, turned on ninety three
point one w POC.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
We are here for you.

Speaker 5 (00:40):
Ninety three point one w POC, Bethanisbury, all the things
you need to know to get you day started.

Speaker 6 (00:47):
Yeah, So I guess Baltimore County school officials are saying
that they get false positive alerts daily from that gun
detection system powered by AI, but they only released documentation
regardings certain major events, which I think is.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
We heard that story where a guy had a Dorito's
bag in his in his pocket at ken.

Speaker 6 (01:08):
Would High School and then it happened again at Parkville
High School that we all found out about. But apparently
it's called omni Omni alert. I'm the alert, okay, and
it has false positives all the time. And that Nashville
area school shooting that happened a while back, right, they
had that detection system and it didn't detect. So it

(01:29):
just feels like maybe it doesn't work, but it was
very expensive, so.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
We gotta work.

Speaker 6 (01:34):
You look into that a little bit more guys. Okay,
but I'm not in charge. Marlon Humphrey is out, and
seven others are limited or were absent from practice yesterday
for the Ravens. So some comments about that came in
and they are all kind of like, here we go again.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Well no, I mean, Lamar was fine at the end
of the game. So apparently he did something to his knee.
He didn't practice yesterday, but then it looked like Harbaugh
said that he would be practicing today, So we'll have
to see what happens.

Speaker 6 (02:05):
Yeah, that's a lot of absences. Robert Parks, the officer
who nearly hit a man with his police vehicle last week,
has been charged with attempted murder, first degree assault, reckless driving,
and misconduct a mechanical issue. It may be to blame
for that four alarm fire in East Baltimore yesterday. Firefighters
fought for four or five hours to contain the I

(02:27):
think it was eight hundred thousand square feet or something.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
It was.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
We've got some really big fires in Baltimore. No shout
out to all of our firefighters. Yeah, thank you so
much for all that you do. Oh and perhaps I
buried the lead. The House passed a funding package late
last night to end the longest government shutdown in history.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Welcome back.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Hey, we got some text from people who experienced this
the last go round, because I asked on the air well,
when do federal workers here in Baltimore expect to get
their pay checks again in the fairies? And it does vary,
but it should be soon, correct, Yeah, I think.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
Some last time they said sometimes within three days, sometimes
within seven days.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Yeah, Brenda said she was most of us furlough should
be paid within seven days, so God bless you.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
Snap benefits will resume within twenty four hours, and the
current level of flight cuts are going to stay in
place while officials evaluate the situation with the air traffic controllers.
And lastly, yes yesterday, House Democrats released emails from Jeffrey
Epstein that mentioned President Trump quote knew about the girls.

(03:37):
The emails came from Epstein's estate as part of a
House investigation. The White House is calling the release selective
and a fake narrative.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Did you hear what I just heard? That was it?

Speaker 4 (03:51):

Speaker 1 (07:48):
So what is going on with.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Chris Stapleton, that's what you want to know, of course. Yeah,
he surprised his fans with video, and I mean anything
from Chris Stapleon, that's my attention. He has just released
the music video for his song white Horse, and it's
like a mini movie with an A list lineup. The

(08:11):
stars are helping to bring his Grammy and CMA winning
song Delight. The video, about a couple on the run
after a bank robbery, was filmed in Marfa, Texas. It
stars Chris and his wife Morgan, along with acclaimed Hollywood
actors Josh Brolin, Mae McKagan, and Tommy Martinez.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
OK So I really like that song.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Yeah, so check that out. He just dropped it.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
The other news, Brad Paisley showed up on the Tonight
Show and he's performing a new Christmas song that is
on his Christmas album. Would you like to hear a preview?
It's called Lit and Well, here is Brad hard at work.

Speaker 13 (08:49):
This is that moment, This is that thing where it's
like I'm asking my wife when her relatives are going
back to the Carolinas was so lit. Well, the family
drove in formed the holidays three times ons five difference,

(09:10):
and this Christmas is going to be.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
A nightmare.

Speaker 14 (09:19):
Well, my brother in law hid anate point butt, threw
it in the.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
Back of his truck and told the children it was rude.
All their whole crime.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
He's just laughing. My wife ran out and said, what
just happened? I just went in signed to looked for smirnle.

Speaker 14 (09:48):
We put up a tree, string up the lights.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
So much for.

Speaker 15 (09:55):
Sign of night.

Speaker 14 (09:57):
Never mind the Eggnon pass me that few between now
New Year's these people finally leave me and that Christmas
tree We're both don't be lit.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Lad Daisley on the Music City.

Speaker 5 (10:24):
Minute ninety three point one w POC.

Speaker 6 (10:28):
Traffic A ninety five southbound between Pulaski Highway and the
Harvard Tunnel is crawling right now. There's an accident in
the ramp of the outer loop to exit two. Looks
like the outer loop is stop and go between bell
Aeroad and Peering Parkway, and ninety five southbound between Pulaski
Highway and the Form mckenry Tunnel is backed up about five.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
Minutes ninety three point one w POC.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
We're counting our piles of blessings and dreaming of piles
and piles of mashed potatoes, sleeping gravy.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
You will turkey on it.

Speaker 11 (11:00):
God, So we're gonna order something or what I am trying.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
To get you to win piles of cag win one
thousand dollars for a gag, a little butterball for enough
doubled egg.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
We're a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, and Bethany here,
Michael jan and Bethany. She wants to start talking about
turkeys because we do need to start planning, don't we.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
Oh yeah, In fact, that's my biggest Thanksgiving Phail. One
time I was in charge of cooking the turkey and
I didn't realize how long it takes to thaw out right,
And so the night before I was like, oh, just
well off tomorrow morning.

Speaker 15 (11:49):
We have experts we can call to be connected to
our Butterball Turkey talk Line for information on turkey preparation
and cooking assistance press or say three if you have
a product question or concern three for sick. Our turkey
experts are not in the office.

Speaker 12 (12:06):
At this all.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Come on you call.

Speaker 15 (12:07):
Back Monday through Friday seeing the hours of eight.

Speaker 12 (12:10):
Eight to eight pm centraal standard.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
So we can't ask the Turkey talk lady. So Bethany,
maybe we should get some help from somebody else. Don't
you think there's probably somebody around Baltimore can.

Speaker 6 (12:23):
Help us a turkey a local turkey expert.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Need to help you? Because you are you going to
be doing a big bird this year? No you're not. No,
Oh you're boycotting it.

Speaker 6 (12:35):
I'm just not in charge of cooking.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
All right, who's cooking at your house?

Speaker 6 (12:39):
And we're going to go out?

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Oh you're going to a restaurant. Oh, well that's easy.
That's the best way to do it.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
Then maybe yeah, yeah. So we saw this list of
the funniest things that they have called the Turkey talk Line, Right,
it's outrageous what people have asked.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Well, and these are legitimate questions that people have called
the Butterball hotline.

Speaker 6 (13:01):
If you don't know what we're talking about, you can
call one eight hundred Butterball anytime between and ask yep
for all of the Thanksgiving season. So the talk line
gets questions all the time that are kind of dumb.
I mean, I know they say, there's no stupid questions,
but these are pretty bad.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
So I'm looking at a turkey from nineteen sixty nine.
Can you imagine somebody having a turkey in their freezer
that long?

Speaker 6 (13:26):
Yeah, they called to ask what the best way to
cook a turkey from nineteen sixty nine would be. You
can't eat that. You cannot eat.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
That well, I mean it's probably solid ice. So yeah,
the freezer burns deep on that one. How about the
second one there?

Speaker 6 (13:40):
I guess. One caller offered a tip and said, if
you can't get the turkey to fit in the pan,
you just wrap it in a towel and give it
a few good stomps.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
So he wanted to know what you do if the
turkey's got all of its bones broken.

Speaker 6 (13:54):
No, I feel like this can't be real. Someone said,
if the oil from my chainsaw that I cut the
turkey with makes it inedible.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
That's ridiculous. Why hold on, So what did he do?
He used the chainsaw on his turkey?

Speaker 6 (14:09):
Yeah, it looks like he may have cut it with
the chainsaw.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
Oh my god, that's that's just that's just that's somebody's
missing a view.

Speaker 6 (14:16):
I know that a lot of people have trouble drawer
frying turkeys. Yeah, that causes some issues.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
That's why I was wondering if we have any chefs,
anybody in the food catering industry, you could call us
at eight hundred and three two one thirty six ninety three.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Maybe we could just run a few questions by you.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
Someone said they wanted to make sure that their turkey
was defrosted, so she called the hotline to ask if
you could put it in the dishwasher.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
But that actually.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
So hold on you.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
So she's thinking, if you take the frozen turkey in
the plastic.

Speaker 6 (14:47):
Back, it's real hot in the dishwasher. So I don't
think that is that it might work because one of
the ways that you can thaw is to soak it
in hot water.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Well, then maybe that is a good idea. I don't know.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
I wouldn't recommend it, but it might work.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
How about why does my turkey have no breast meat?
A disappointed woman called the Turkey Hotline wondering why turkey
had no breast meat. The talk line operator figured out
that the woman's turkey was lying on the table upside down.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Just flip it over, ma'am. Yeah, oh see that's what
I'm talking about. These people are out here among us well,
and maybe they're trying it for the first time. I
need to know though, that I never thought you had
to wash it at all, but you didn't hold it,
so you took it out.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Of the bag and you didn't wash it all.

Speaker 12 (15:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
I don't think you need to wash it, But then
I think you did. On the internet they're saying you
need to wash.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
It, yes, because it could have been laying around and
contaminated with something.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
But you're gonna cook.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
It, Yeah, but you still want to get and then
you got to take the giblets out of the inside
and pull that bag out.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
You don't leave that inside there.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Some people have cooked it with the giblets still in
and then wondered what do you do with the plastic,
like whoopsie.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yeah, I don't think that's probably a good thing to eat. Now.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Here's the funniest one, though, Bethany, my turkey thawed on
my lap.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
Can I eat it? That was the question.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
A gentleman won a turkey at the casino, and he
brought it home on the bus, where it had thawed
after a couple hours sitting on his lap. The safest
way to thaw your turkey is in the refrigerator. It
takes one day for every four pounds of turkey. The
talk line experts wouldn't recommend eating a turkey that's been
thought out on your lap.

Speaker 6 (16:22):
Because it might not stay at the right temperature.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Right.

Speaker 16 (16:27):
Can you imagine.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Calling and asking that, I just want to.

Speaker 6 (16:30):
See someone riding around we have a turkey on their lap?

Speaker 4 (16:34):
What does your biggest turkey fail? Eight hundred three two
one thirty six ninety three.

Speaker 17 (16:40):
David thanks to pretty much the same round, David steels
shooting out Next Tuesday, Buller steals, let'sen plan, but I
got better, saying seating gain.

Speaker 10 (17:03):
Do that.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
I got a.

Speaker 5 (17:04):
Couple dakes anything it is my bet.

Speaker 18 (17:10):
As you good or city careless? Carton break doesn't kill
your coffee?

Speaker 6 (17:27):
Six molestly.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Megan Morony ninety three point one w PO s good morning,
Michael J and Bethany. Bethany says you don't have to
wash your turkey. I think that's crazy. I think you
do have to wash it. What does someone from the
US Navy say? Okay, so we got this text.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
Hey guys, retired Navy culinary specialist, here you do not
need to wash your turkey before cooking it. All that
does is add extra contamination to your chicken as the
water splashes, or pas chicken as the water splashes all
over the counter, sink, walls, curtains, any clean dishes you
have sitting around. Not everything on the internet is accurate.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
All right, All right, now, you don't have a fail.

Speaker 15 (18:13):
You have a what so I'm not I don't have
a fail.

Speaker 12 (18:15):
I actually have a wind.

Speaker 8 (18:16):
Okay, yeah, I just instead of the turkey, the actual
big turkey.

Speaker 12 (18:24):
I made a turkey breast over the weekend, right, and
it was butterball and I put it in the cross ont.
I watched the Instagram video and you make it with
orange juice, cranberry sauce, apple juice, and one of those
lipen packets of the French onion soup.

Speaker 15 (18:42):
Right, it was so good and moist.

Speaker 12 (18:45):
I've never done it before, and I'm telling you it's
like a viral Instagram video.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Now, all right, Melissa says, the crock Bot's the way
to go. And while you might still have the traditional
bird for Thanksgiving, that's a good way to have some
extra turkey.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
Someone said you never thought out a turkey or any
other meat in hot water, always in cold water, and
you have to change the water out every thirty minutes.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
See, there's a science to all this so you don't
get people sick.

Speaker 6 (19:11):
Someone said, I don't know if this is a fail,
but one time I was in charge of a turkey.
I took some butter that we used at the restaurant
I was working at and brought the rest of it
home to put it in the turkey. And when I
went to pull it out and carved the meat, all,
wait a minute, all it melts in your mouth.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Oh, so it was good.

Speaker 6 (19:32):
I was ready for that to take a turn. Okay,
so butter.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
Well, someone says, Brian, your turkey for two days, even
if it's a little bit frozen. It works. Then someone said, Hi,
it's me my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I left
the bag of yeah in the turkey. I had no idea.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
Say, you got to take the giblets out, and then
you got to use them for soup, or not for soup,
but for a gravy. Because my grandma used to always
make She put the liver and the heart and the neck,
and she put all that in there with some flour
and she'd whip it up, and I don't know it
tasted good to me.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
Ninety three point one WPOC traffic and ill said, hey,
don't wash, you'll contaminate your area.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Now. Don't you have a new oven that you're working
with this year? Don't you want to try it out
with your bird? Instead of going out, I'm gonna let
someone else, okay and take it. Oh, someone said, boneless turkey,
breast and air fryer. Best turkey you'll ever have. Right
there you go.

Speaker 6 (20:30):
I love it, guys, Thank you. Eight ninety five southbound
between Moravia Road and the Harbor Tunnel is crawling. The
outer loop between Beller Road and Perrin Parkway is slow.
Ninety five southbound between eight ninety five and the former

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
