Speaker 4 (09:40):
Really?

Speaker 3 (09:41):
He said that was his favorite he's been on. And
then he was on Alex Grimacelli is how you say
her name? Her show too, and he said Chopped was
his favorite because it was the most legitimate, So.

Speaker 7 (09:54):
I know it was really fun.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
What a night it's on you? What best gift ever?

Speaker 1 (09:59):
I tell you that is? And how did someone get
ahold of a chef like that? Like it was sumbtack,
all right, that's how it happened. Yeah, so there you go.
So just going thumbtack and look for Bethany's favorite chef.

a chef coming to her house.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
We really like to watch like all the cooking shows
and stuff like that, so for us that was a
really fun that's awesome.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Yeah, and it occurred to me that that is a
really great, you know, experiential gift. With the holidays coming up,
everybody runs around trying to find the perfect present. When
you think about it, you know, it's great to open
something up, but like if it's something, we need more stuff, right,
So we were kind of curious do you have you

(11:21):
have an experience that you were gifted at some point
in your life that you'll never forget.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
My daughter does not like things like notably Okay, she's
very like materialistic, uh huh, So ones I got her.
She used to love this cat lady influencer person on Instagram.
So for her birthday, we got her like a meet
and greet to go meet the cat lady.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
And so she really met the cat Lady. Oh, she
was so excited.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
It was like truly turned out to be Oh wow,
like the best, like way better than any like physical
gift we could have got her.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
So for my thirty fifth birthday, I'll never forget this,
my family gave me a trip to Orioles Fantasy Camp
and so I went to Florida for like it us
a better part of a week.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
You know, I was a little less than a week,
but whatever, but.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
You know, you played with the you know, some of
the retired Orioles and like there were some guys deck coaches.
Earl Weaver was there and it just was like it
was an amazing week and that was an incredible press
you know, I mean being a baseball fan and playing
baseball my whole life to be able to you know,
play with the Orioles. Then we came back and played
a game of Campden Yards and oh it was really

(12:29):
it was really cool.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
It was cool.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
I mean there were like, you know, twelve people in
the stands, but yeah, just our family.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
You know. I sort of like this idea for the
holidays this year because.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Yeah, because it we're just looking at like everyone's so
pessimistic and you know, we're just Bethanie and I were
just talking how do we try to put a positive
spin on things, not a fake I mean authentic, but like,
is there a way to to make this a special
time because it's just about the moment, right, I mean,

(13:00):
so we're kind of curious if you have any great,
you know, experiences that anyone's ever surprised you with that
you want to share.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Eight hundred three two one thirty six ninety three.

Speaker 1 (13:11):

with us? Sure? All right? Now, what is your first name? Rebecca.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Rebecca, So we were telling about Bethany's experience Friday night,
she had a chef at our house, and we were
just talking about how how cool that is as a gift,
you know what I mean? You know, for uh an
affordable amount of money, you can do something special for somebody.
We're wondering if anybody else is planning an experiential type
of of gift or has experience with it.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
And what did you say on the text?

Speaker 10 (14:02):
We are going on a cruise for Christmas because my
kids at eleven and twelve don't need anything, right, so
we just decided to Yeah, so they don't they don't
know about it yet, so they're not.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Also from the text, someone said, hey, good morning. My
parents would always give me a country concept for Christmas.
One year was Carrie Underwood, the next year was Tim
and Faith.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
That's awesome, Mesi says.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
A couple of years ago, for her and her daughter's birthday,
they are in March and April, their mom took them
all to New York City to see Harry Potter and
The Curse Child on Broadway.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
That's wonderful. Yeah that is. Let's see what else?

fifteen years O, like, it stays forever.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Yeah, and they don't necessarily cost an unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Probably around the same amount that you were planning on
spending anyway.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Right, it takes a little planning. But what does make
it special is A it shows you care. B It
shows that you put some thought into it. And see
it's something that you're not going to throw away. Yeah
you know what I mean. Yeah, so many presents.

Speaker 4 (16:27):

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Gone and through at the double woe and walking my shoes.
What do you say?

Speaker 3 (22:28):
Stay?

Speaker 11 (22:28):
Start singing?

Speaker 4 (22:32):
All not any mean it's a little good news. I
don't any meant something made me bad? Tim the middle?
Don't any mean it's middle? Well, I do have some
some Christmas news. Are you ready for Christmas news? Bethany?

(22:52):
I think I'm ready? All right?

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Michael Jay's music City minute in sixty seconds.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
You don't know like you own music Crow, She's back,
Mariah carries All I Want for Christmas?

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Is you? Now?

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Does this song immediately make you smell, taste, feel everything Christmas?

Speaker 4 (23:16):
Yes? It does, and you look forward to it every year?
I do, all right?

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Well, you know Mariah announced its time a while ago.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Now and all I.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Want for Christmas is You As returned to the Billboard
Hot one hundred earlier than ever this year, re entering
at number thirty one on the November fifteenth chart. This
marks the first time the song has appeared partly off
Halloween week listening through its early November streaming and airplane numbers.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
It's just the earliest that anyone's ever wanted to hear this.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
I mean, don't you think it's better if you wait
till after Thanksgiving?

Speaker 8 (23:54):
Why?

Speaker 4 (23:55):
I don't know, but that's the big overall music news.
I don't know. To me, that's not the one.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
But everybody's got their their own Christmas song, right, So,
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
For me, I just it doesn't do it. It just
I want no, I want like I'm feeling grinchy.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
I don't know. No, that's just not the song for me. Okay. Anyway,
rest of your music City minute.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Cody Johnson, who was nominated for four awards on the
CMA docket this year, including Entertainer of the Year, will
not be there. Will not be performing. And I guess
maybe he's got the grinch thing going on that's wrong
with him. Well, he has a ruptured ear drum and
because of that he can't perform. He made the responsible

(24:43):
decision to prioritize his health and recovery, canceling everything for
the rest of the year.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
So he welcomed the baby boy with his wife and
he's optimistic about returning to the stage in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
But he's not going to be at the CMA Awards,
So that was probably a tough decision.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
But yeah, when you're up for Entertainer of the Year,
you get here and then you don't go well.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
And finally, the Zach Brown Band has released new singles
this sum and Hard Run featuring Marcus King, which will
be included in the band's upcoming thirteen track album, Love
and Fear, arriving December fifth.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
For Zach Brown Band fans.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
Ninety three point one w POC traffic okay, So an
alternate forty eastbound and westbound at Ballava Road has been
closed all morning due to an accident. There's an accident
on the outer loop at seventy to left lanes. Block
things or stop and go back to Reisterstown Road. And
on forty westbund at Washington Street, there's an accident there.

Speaker 11 (25:47):
Damn damn time.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
All right, now, Bethany, you and I both have kids
are a little older. They're not They're not They're they're
not walking around at five or six years old at
this point, right. But when you have young kids during
the holidays, starting with Thanksgiving, you got to make plans
for it because they can get into everything, right, And
we were talking about how having children during the holidays

(26:22):
takes some special effort.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Yeah, they are, like certain issues they come up. I remember,
like anything from food allergies to like, you know, traveling
to I don't know, the kiddie table at Thanksgiving, to.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Visiting at friends' houses with your kids and having an
adult beverage and losing track of where your kids are
in the house and your kids are up destroying somebody's bathroom.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
Oh that sound that sounded a little person. Well, I
can tell a story.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
There were a couple of kids when I was actually
with these other kids when when I was a kid,
and uh, well, the two children who were not being
chaperoned at that moment, had made their way into the
bathroom at my parents' house and they took everything. You
know how you have like a closet in your bathroom
when you have while your supplies, your shampoo, your toothpaste, Scott.

(27:16):
The one kid was emptying everything, No, everything from the
closet into the dub Oh yeah, and the parent. The
parents ended up having a little disagreement about it. Yeah,
you got to keep an eye on your kids when
you're at somebody else's house.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
Yeah. Uh. Did you have a kiddie table.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
When I was really young, Yeah, of course you did. Yeah,
you have the kittie table, and then you have the
you know, the grown ups. But I mean now my
kids are you know, they're in college, so uh, it's
a different situation.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
Now they're gonna be putting me at the kitty table.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Yeah, you can't eat solid food.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Yeah. What are the what are the main issues that
you're stressed about if you have little ones over the holidays?
Like I think traveling is a big deal.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Oh yeah, Like I remember having to drive in the
middle of the night when we would have to drive
home with little kids because they would just be it
would just be better for their schedule for them to
sleep on the night in the car and us to
take the l And and also I remember one time
that we had the cousins all over at our house

(28:26):
and they trashed my daughter's room. Oh really see and
then that was it was similar to your story about
the bathroom. Yeah, I think I feel like that. Like
with little kids and holidays, there are always things well,
they're wound.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Up, they have a lot of energy, and then they crash.
You know, it's all it's a sugar high. So are
you prepared for any special you know what's on your mind?

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Are you stressed out?

Speaker 3 (28:50):
If you're a parent with little kids, let us know
what is the most stressful thing you're dealing with this
holiday season?

Speaker 4 (28:56):
Seven seven nine to six to two.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Begin your message with high or hey or call us
eight hundred three six ninety three.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
We'll talk you through it.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
And perhaps maybe Santa is even having a little anxiety.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Probably you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
I mean, he keeps eating all the cookies, and the
chimneys don't get any bigger, No, they don't, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 4 (29:12):
And where does he keep his dash?

Speaker 1 (29:13):
And there's there's so many considerations this time of year,
you know what I mean. So what's going on in
your head? If you've got kids, we want to hear
from you. Eight hundred three two one thirty six ninety three.
Or tex seven seven nine six two.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Night week see mine? Who do we have in the lines? Bethany?

(29:55):
We have Chloe, Tricia and Ava.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
You're at ninety three point one WPS kids in your family.

Speaker 6 (30:01):
No, oh, we just got a puppy.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
Oh wow, we.

Speaker 6 (30:09):
Can't even have a Christmas true.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Whoa, Oh my gosh, because the puppy might tear the
tree down.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
Yeah, oh my god. What's the puppy's name, Charley? Ah?

Speaker 1 (30:21):
What kind of puppy is Charlie found? Oh my goshow
is Charlie up all night?

Speaker 4 (30:28):
Howling to Charlie.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Was last night?

Speaker 4 (30:31):
We're all sleeping on the ride of school today. Oh wow?

Speaker 1 (30:36):
All right, well, good luck with that. Oh my goodness.
So no Christmas tree. Where's Santa gonna put the presents?

Speaker 4 (30:42):
No, we're not sure yet.

Speaker 6 (30:44):
We're kind of sad about that.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
We might try to shove one in the window.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
All right.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Maybe Santa should bring Harley at uh crazy, I.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Think he needs a creak for the dog. So anyway,
good luck with that. So that's what they've got their
hands full with.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
Yeah, we're talking about what's stressful for parents at the holidays.
This one really hits home to me because I remember
doing this when my kids were little. Holidays were stressful
at school because every day is a theme day. You
wear stripes, you wear polka dots, you come in for
the party, or you have an event or things to
sing along or a school makes me stressed out at

(31:21):
the holidays, I have to agree, like, oh it's pajama day.
Oh yeah, to bring a treat, you have to I
can't keep it all straight. And then this one's interesting too.
She tells a story about how her kids are teenagers
now and they are turning into the babysitter of all
the other little cousins at all the events, right, and
that's a responsibility, Like they're supposed to be enjoying their

(31:44):
holiday too, exactly why do they have to walk? Interesting?
And then somebody said, I have season tickets for the
Ravens and they play at.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Home, and I don't know what to do. Yeah, do
I have Thanksgiving? Do I go to the game?

Speaker 6 (31:56):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (31:56):
You got it?

Speaker 6 (31:56):
A game?

Speaker 4 (31:57):
You got it?

Speaker 5 (31:57):
A game?

Speaker 4 (31:58):
Got it? Cheer on the Ravens.

Speaker 9 (32:00):
VI well fan the lammy of a ladder control.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
Yeah you know, Vivie. So Drake then attaps you. It'll
get me gone.

Speaker 7 (32:13):
Oh no, we oh now there will go.

Speaker 5 (32:18):
Then right now, Agenseagle Bell, I got my mind, I
got my I got my.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
Hands, and I got my.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
George Burge on ninety three point one W P O C.
Michael J and Bethany I.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
We're talking about stress when you have little kids at
the holidays, and we got a text from a young
mom who said that she's sick of carrying the entire
mental load for the whole family.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
And so that is I think that probably hits home
with a lot of because that's where I heard from
my wife for a long time, Like you know, like
there's well.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
No, did you decide at any point that you'd like to.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Step or no? I trying to help up, but you
know what it's it's like in a family. One person
does seem to want to like be the quarterback?

Speaker 4 (33:16):
Do they want to or are they forced to? I
don't know. I don't know the answer to that. I
don't know either.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
But do you I want to throw that out there
in your text at seven seven nine six two? Do
you you know? Are you that one person that like
takes care of Christmas? I? Do you do it as
a team?

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Do you? Probably? No? I've the majority of people this
one person who quarterbacks it. Yeah, you know what I mean.
It probably wouldn't get done if she didn't do it.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
So this is a reminder to gentlemen listening, you don't
have to wait for your wife to tell you what
to do.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
You can go ahead and choose to do some things right.
And to those gentlemen who are already doing that, amen
of you.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
And also a reminder that you don't have to do
everything right. It's okay if you do store bock cookies
this year. It's okay if you don't send Christmas cards
out this year, like it's okay.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Are people really still sending out Christmas cards?

Speaker 3 (34:14):
I think that's one of the things that has to
go by the wayside.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
I think it has. There's just not enough time.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
Yeah, no, I think that there's still a big pressure
online maybe to do like well, no, everybody wants to
do the car the instagram worthy card right, right, So
you don't have to though, like it's okay, take a
deep breath.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
It's supposed to be fun, right, and we do put
a lot on ourselves this time year, right.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
You don't have to like it's okay, Like your kids
are still going to grow up healthy, and.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
I don't know why it is.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
I mean, I just you see a lot of times
it is the woman who is taking care, you know
what I mean. So I understand this young person who
texted who said she feels all the weight of that
responsibility that she's taken off.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Often the liaison between like both both sides of the family, yeah, right,
and the in laws and all that ordnating and the
gift giving and the home.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
The dinners, I mean Thanksgiving alone because we're going to
do Thanksgiving at my houses and like just getting prepped
for that. We were at the grocery store of the weekend.
I'm like, look, do we start shopping because I'm trying
to help.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
You know.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
It's like it's not all on Cheryl, but like it's
a lot when you get into the holadies for couples. Yeah,
and then you add the little kids we're talking about, right.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Oh yeah, it's a ton. So just take a deep breath.
It's okay, ask for help if you need it. It's
gonna be great.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
Yeah, and we'll be right over.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
Someone from the tech said, I'm the quarterback and I
hate it, but I wouldn't get done if I didn't
do this.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
Is my point. And I'm assuming that's a woman. I
don't know. I'm not trying to sound sexist. I don't
know if it's a woman or not. But it seems
that a lot of times it's mom right taking care
of everything.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
So let us all take a moment of reflection on that.

Speaker 7 (35:52):
Yeah, ninety three point one WPOC traffic.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Okay, we've got an accident on B to B Parkway
southbound after one seventy five.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
Two left lanes are blocked there. On the outer loop

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
