Speaker 1 (00:04):
Who was he call you dog?

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah, he call you doll ninety three point one w POC.
Just call us Michael J. And Bethany ninety three.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Point one w POC. Bethany's breath. All the things you
need to know to get you day started.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Well, I got a little sick to my stomach and
I watched the viral video last night.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
This is crazy, It really is.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Baltimore police officer tried to plow down a young man
yesterday and literally went crazy, all.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Right, yeah, what's got you? Ain't even got no reason
to stop.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
And another another guy in the neighborhood was taking the video,
filming it yet, and so this police officer in his
car starts chasing the kid through a lot. Well they
even got a vision as well, you go ahead on

(01:08):
a cop. I mean, really, what did they I don't
know what the kid did.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, nobody really knows, but I guess they had a conversation.
And then the kid just started walking away because he
was like, well, I don't.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Need to keep standing here talking to you.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
And the officer didn't like that, and I tried to
plow them down and then drove up up over the
curb and like down around the side street, and it
was it's a scary.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
It's kind of scary.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
So now that police officers and are suspended and they're investigating.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
The mayor weighed in on this.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
He said that it was like unacceptable being here and
they're looking into it, but it's pretty wild. The Fed
cut interest rates by a quarter percent yesterday. Now we're
at three point seventy five for the benchmark rate. But
Jerome Powell says, depending on what happens, he doesn't know
what's you know, if he's gonna low it in December,

(02:00):
you sell real estate when you're not here playing country
music with me. Have you found any impact around Baltimore
as a result of interest rates? You know, the prices
of all the houses are still so high that the
interest rate getting lowered has helped a little, But there's
still so many other factors, right, you know, everybody's like
scared about the economy, you know, so I haven't really noticed.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
That it's helping at all. The rates coming down can't hurt.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
It's always like, I mean, they're doing it to try
to settle the economy, but what are you gonna do? Right? Okay,
So Hurricane Melissa not not great Jamaica is hoping to
open their airports to get again today.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Okay, I'm sorry, how my words are kidding? No, Well,
a hurricane everybody's jumbled.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
I know at least thirty people have lost their lives
across Jamaica and Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yeah, it's really the pictures are just devastating.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Looks like the US has been ordered by President Trump
to immediately begin testing US nuclear weapons. The last time
we did that was in nineteen ninety two. Health Secretary
Robert F. Kennedy Junior is walking back the administration's hard
stance on pregnant women taking tailand all. Now, RFK says,

(03:21):
you know, there really isn't a lot of sufficient evidence
to link tailand all to autism, So I guess that
we're we're not doing that anymore, and then I'll put
all that aside.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Right, get your purple on right, come on, we're gonna
take it to Miami tonight. Heck, yeah, I wore my
purple glasses today. Did you notice I did.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
That's for the raven Lamonoc traffic. Okay, there's a disabled
vehicle ninety five northbound after O'Donnell's Street.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
It looks like.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
That's causing a little bit of trouble, but we're slow
in that general area this time in the morning.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Anyway.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
Excellent, Yeah, all right, Tucker Wetmore a ninety three point
one WPOC in three two one.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
City Minute in sixty seconds.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
You don't know, like you own music row, you know.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
For years, Luke Bryan has been really quiet about everything
that led up to the death of his sister, and
he's had a lot of tragedy in his life. Anyway, Ultimately,
Luke and his wife adopted her kids, right, so if
you didn't know about that, yeah, And now, in an
interview he sat down with Anderson Cooper, Luke Brian said

(04:41):
he's ready to finally explain and put to rest some
of the rumors because people really did.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
I mean, he just didn't want to. Yeah, for respect
of everybody involved. Right. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
So, Luke said, it was like someone turned out the
lights and his sister died from something called sudden death syndrome.
A series of cardiac events just happened and.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Cut her life short. Wow. Yeah, I mean, so you
know what happens.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
People probably don't go to the doctors until you get
to be like thirty or thirty five or forty, and
you think, oh, I'm gonna live forever, and sometimes we don't.
Wow sad. Anyway, here's some happier news. Which country star
do you think really wanted a dragon on his lawn
for Halloween? Brad Paisley. So it all started back in September.

(05:31):
Kimberly Williams Paisley, his wife, for her birthday. She wanted
a coal plunge tub, one of those cylinders that you
can get up and it's got like a little ladder
that gets you up into it and then she jumps
down into the freezing cold water and she says it
makes her feel so much better.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
So that's what she got for her birthday.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Brad said, well, now it's his turn, because he just
had his on the twenty eighth. He wanted one of
those those dragons where the eyes light up, and Kimberly
posted it. You can see it on her Instagram. She
got it. It was on sale at home depot. It
was marked down to one nine.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
What deal. She picked it up.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
And now they've got an eight foot dragon.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
In their front yard. That seems like him.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Yeah, Brad ninety three point one WPOC traffic, and.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
That was your Music City Minute. We'll do it every
hour at about nineteen after. Now, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (06:24):
All right?

Speaker 3 (06:24):
There's an accident in the express hole lane near the
Rossville Boulevard overpass.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
That's been moved to the left shoulder.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
That's on ninety five, the express to lane northbound between
eight ninety five and White Marsh Boulevard. There's an excellent
accident on Maryland one hundred eastbound at ninety five.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
It's been moved to the shoulder.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
The eight ninety five southbound Harbor Tunnel situation backed up
about five minutes. And then a disabled vehicle on ninety
five northbound at O'Donnell Streets.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Recognize that sout, uh huh. That is our.

Speaker 2 (06:57):

Speaker 6 (07:47):
Good morning, Good morning. It's Nicole, Nicole.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
She's using her blinker, she's got her head lights on.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Jud first, Nicole, that's right, hey, Nicole, you're headed to work.

Speaker 7 (07:59):
I am I am a school teacher.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
I love that very good. Where if we can.

Speaker 7 (08:04):
Ask at Frederick County?

Speaker 4 (08:05):
All right, what grades do you teach?

Speaker 7 (08:07):
I teach second grade.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
What are the Halloween festivities for your second grade?

Speaker 7 (08:12):
No Halloween festivities, However, we do have a fall harvest party.
We're allowed for the county two parties a year, so
we usually do a fall harvest party and a Valentine
or a Kindness party.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
I would have loved the end of school party. That's
where we just go crazy. Nicole's probably waiting for that too.
All right, well, Nicole, here's the here's the jelly roll
party for you, you're going to see Jelly Roll at
DC jingle Ball. Oh congratulations and thank you for listening.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Thank you, way to go to call. I guess twelve
billion plus Americans are in the market for a new
job right now at this very moment. Yes, currently seeking
a new job. Okay.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
I saw stat today that said that seventy three percent
of people are looking for better healthcare in their next position.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Hmmm, what would you want if you had, you know,
a job that you were looking for. What would be
the one thing that would really say that's the job
I need to take or that's the employer I need
to work for.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Hmmm, it is it? My first thought is money?

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah? But what about healthcare? I mean, is that something
that you go to Yeah?

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Of course, yeah, I would need it, you know. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
I feel like but for some people who have health
care with their spouse or blah blah blah, like that's
not their main priority.

Speaker 6 (09:29):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
And then like, for instance, I have a friend who
wants a new job, doesn't really care how much money
they make.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
They just want to work from home. See that doesn't
do anything for me. During the pandemic.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
How many people of our loyal twelve yeah, are dedicated dozen.
If you're one of the twelve, did it drive you
crazy when you were working from home during the pandemic?

Speaker 4 (09:51):
I couldn't wait to get out of my house. Yeah,
you know what I mean, Like I love being here
rather than there. You want to leave the house again?

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Yeah, it's you miss all the social interaction.

Speaker 8 (10:03):
You know.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Maybe more control of life, more quality of life might
interest me, you know, like maybe.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
You want a better work life balance.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Well yeah maybe yeah, because we we I love what
we do though, Yeah, but it's like full tilt buggie.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Yeah you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah, So I I envy those people who I see
who have a little bit more control over their hours.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
But at what cost? That's where it comes. That is
the priority.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
So this is the question, and we want you to
weigh in seven seven nine six two. Begin your message
with higher hate or eight hundred three two one thirty
six ninety three, or just daydreaming for a minute, if
you could design the perfect.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Position, what would be your number one priority?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
No shoes, no shirt, that's no problem.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
Does work?

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Yeah? No, I mean maybe fishing? Could it now time? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:54):
It could be on a fishing boat. Let's go catch
some rock. Fish today. No, I can't wait to hang
with those guys at our WPOC Saint Jude Jingle y'all
coming up in December now, just a little over a
month away because tomorrow's Halloween. It's November this week. I

(11:16):
can't believe how time's flying. If you didn't get your
tickets for Low Cash and Lauren Lana and all that
we're putting on over at the Record theater man only
twenty five bucks, So pick yourself some tickets up today.
So we were talking, Bethany about what it is that
you would be attracted to in another job.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah, a lot of people looking for a new job.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
I know a lot of people who have jobs and
are just like always casually looking for something better.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
So what would it be? What's your priority? I would
say the people.

Speaker 8 (11:45):
That work there.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
One type of people am I dealing with on.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
A daily basis?

Speaker 2 (11:54):
How old are they?

Speaker 9 (11:55):
Like? Are they are they cool to.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Hang out with on the weekends right at the same age?

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Are you in a situation right now where that's like
good where you are?

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Or are you looking for something better?

Speaker 9 (12:09):
One of my coworkers just took down on his boat
last weekend.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
We went't fishing. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I
was like, that's what I like about it, right, You
work with good people. He likes friends with boats. Yeah. Friends.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yeah, you know, dude, you and I have something in common.
I love I got Rob, I got Jamie.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
You know.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Uh, it's just funny when you've got a friend with
a boat. That's not a bad situation, right, all right,
So you got to ask going in.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
How many people work here that have boat? Yeah? Do
you have any boat people here? Exactly?

Speaker 3 (12:45):
I think that's interesting that he said that, because I
have another friend who's looking for a job right now,
and she specifically wants like forward momentum. She's in a
job right now where everybody just does status quo, like
like same thing over and over and over blah blah blah.
She wants like growth potential. Okay, And so I think
that's interesting right too. Someone said, work life balance. This

(13:08):
is from the text work life balance is the one
hundred percent most important factor for me. Then someone said
I needed a shorter commute. My last job changed. Yeah,
in fifteen minute commute is ideal. Can I tell you
something that changes your life? It does so much for
fourteen Well, I don't even know how many years, from
two thousand and seven to this past January, four hundred

(13:28):
and sixty eight thousand miles I commuted back and forth
between here in Rockville and not doing that these days.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Oh my god, it's way better. Yeah, it's amazing.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
And I know a lot. When the Key Bridge went down,
I know that was a big thing that changed for
a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah, that's why so many people want the bridge back.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Yeah, a lot of people want to work from home.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Someone said I was dead set against working from home
when the pandemic started. Now I'm the opposite. I hate
going to the office. We go three days a week.
That's a good That might be good, like a hybrid situation.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
I think it is.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
And then someone else said, teaching from home during the
pandemic was the best school year of my life.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
Wow, ninety three point one w POC traffic.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Yeah, it's all business from the waist up and all
party from the waist down.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Is it funny how different people have different priorities.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yeah, I have to get out of the house. Jimmy
is trying to straighten us out here. Jimmy's very concerned.
Hold on, Jimmy, we got to get legal.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Here w POC Baltimore and iHeartRadio station make us the
number one precent on your car radio and on the free,
new and improved iHeartRadio app. Listen for all your music,
radio and podcast free. Never sounded so good. On ninety
three point one w POC.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
Let Jimmy in here because Jimmy is concerned about a
conversation we had earlier. We're hearing this morning that people
don't have their tail lights on. Jimmy, explain what are
you seeing?

Speaker 9 (14:57):
There are different settings on their light switch. Their first one,
their running lights come on. That's just the front lights,
not bad light, it's the barber lights. Okay, then you
turn another click and your head lights and your tail
lights will come on.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Right.

Speaker 9 (15:16):
I'll see that all the time coming down his road.
No tail lights.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Oh my goodness, I'm worried we all start driving these
fancy electric cars that are really confusing. That's all right, Well,
like Bethany, Like Bethany says, you know how to hit
all the buttons, don't you.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
I'm not mothering that one, Jimmy.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Happy Halloween. Everybody's calling with throwback suggestions. Karen, Karen, Karen,
good morning, Good morning, Harvey, punkin Head Harvey.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
I've never heard of him.

Speaker 7 (16:00):
We'll get up on YouTube here in Pennsylvania.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Punkin and up here in Pennsylvania.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Well you know that says, oh boy, is it a
country song or what is it?

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Scary song?

Speaker 5 (16:14):
Like a thriller?

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Punkin head Harvey.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Look at that, we have it. Well it's in let's see,
let's give it a listen. It's I gotta get past
the ad. It's it's on YouTube. Here we go, there's
punkinhead Harvey. We're gonna check it out, all right, thank you?

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Be safe.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
Oh my gosh, this is a.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Song, Punkinhead Harvey, punkinhead Harvey.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
He does.

Speaker 9 (17:01):
It?

Speaker 8 (17:01):
Alloween time is comings shoes.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
They played this in Pennsylvania and I've never heard of
funking funkinghad Harvey's why, Oh my goodness, thank you from Pennsylvania.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Ninety three point one w p OC. Bethanis brief All
the things you need to know to get you day stared.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Well, Baltimore went viral last night for a video that
is frankly not awesome at all.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
All right, yeah, what's us, Scott? You've got no reason
to stop with them. We even got a little visions.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
So what's happening in the video is it looks like
a Baltimore police officer is pulling over to talk to
a young man and he doesn't have any reason seemingly
to be talking to him, so he just walks away.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
And then he chases him with his car.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
The police officer gets into the top car and tries
to plow the kid down.

Speaker 10 (18:18):
Well, oh no, no, hello, this officer chases him around
the block.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
First, first he plows him down through like an empty lot,
and then onto the main road, and then he drives
up on the sidewalk.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
What is he doing?

Speaker 3 (18:44):
So then there are cars everywhere people, It's like an intersection.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Then he almost hits a house and then crashes his
car in an alley and then gets on foot and
tries to I.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Don't the officer has been suspended.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
It's a wild video anyway, So I'm sure you'll hear
people talking about that and see that on your feed today. Meanwhile,
the Federal Reserve cut the interest rates by a quarter
percent yesterday, lowering the benchmark rate to three point seventy
five from four percent. Jerome Powell says, we may or
may not see another rate cut in December. They don't

(19:19):
have a lot of data right now because the government
is shut down. Hurricane Melissa killed at least thirty people
across Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. Jamaica hopes to
open its airports today to let in some emergency supplies.
President Trump announced via social media yesterday that he has
instructed the United States Department of Defense to immediately begin

(19:40):
testing US nuclear weapons, reversing the decades of memorial memoriam
easy for me to say in a truth social post,
he said, because of the country's testing programs, I have
instructed the Department of War to start testing nuclear weapons
on an equal basis because of other countries.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
So that happens.

Speaker 9 (20:00):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Also, the Blue Jays rookie Trey you Savage, Yeah, delivered
U Savage delivered a historic performance Game five of the
World Series.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
Twelve strikeouts something like that.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Yeah, twelve batters over seven innings. It's he's a rookie, Yeah,
but he's great. Game six takes place Friday in Toronto,
which is great because tonight what are we doing tonight? Everyone?

Speaker 4 (20:22):
We're watching the Ravens. That's right, right.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
And lastly, Dictionary dot com has declared six to seven
the twenty twenty five ward of the Year six seven right.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Ninety three point one WPOC traffic.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Jimmy Fallon played a clip the other day of all
of the old news anchors all over the country being
like six seven.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Oh my god, it was so Cringeyah, I loved it.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Okay, there's an accident in eighty three southbound between Northern
Parkway and Cold Spring Lane.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
Be safe.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
There ninety five southbound between Mountain Road and Big Gunpowder Falls,
an accident has left lane blocked. There three oh one
westbound after Richie Highway accident there has the right lane blocked.
And then there are a couple more little accidents all
over the leaves I think are making things particularly slippery
on the road.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
So be safe. This report is sponsored by Macy's back.

Speaker 6 (21:13):
Sea Too.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
All right, well we're doing it all right, all right?

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
