the college football playoff rankings came out, I'd have to
tell you I've got a you know what. A week ago,
I was feeling sorry for my boys. You know, I

not gonna make it this year. There's a horrible lost
ass MEU. We're gonna be out of the playoffs. And
there was a market correction last night in the College
Football Playoff rankings committee got it right. They listened, They
listened long and hard and hurt all the critics out there,
and they put the U at number fifteen, putting us

in striking distance, perfect win out, highest ranked team in
acc went out. And you're in when in, you're in
that's it. Thank you to the College Football Playoff Committee.
Now you guys are inconsistent AF and I don't know
your criteria, and you still have a team who lost
to Miami and is ranked six spots ahead of them.

Rams game on Sunday. Started off as the Rams were
a four and a half point favorite, and now there
are two and a half point favorite, maybe three, depending

when you get your action. That a lot of people,
the public and sharps are on they are on the
Seattle Seahawks, which I don't. It doesn't really do much
for me anyway from a gambling perspective. It makes me

handicap the game a little bit better. But oh yeah,
the game of the year on Sunday at one oh
five at Sofa Seattle Sofi Stadium, where I'm sure Seahawks
fans will take over. So right now, in terms of
the money line, sixty six percent of the money on

moneyline are on the Seattle Seahawks. Okay, the total, I don't.
The total right now is fifty to fifty on the
under and over, which is crazy. You don't usually see
it at that. Now, here's what could be a little
concerning to you if if you, if you get a

little freaked out and think this is a jinx. Seventy
six percent of the money right now for this game
on Sunday with the spread of Seattle plus two and
a half is bet on the Seahawks. Does that make
you a little bit nervous? It doesn't make me nervous,

but I think it shows the respect and admiration that
the Seahawks are getting from everyone everywhere, and I'm loving it.
For me, I you know, I love it, but I'm
also nervous by it. I'm also nervous in the sense
that when everybody tells you you're the best, it's only

human nature that you start to quote, believe the hype
and remember and the greatest rap band of all time
public enemy. They saying, don't believe the hype. Don't believe
the hype. So I don't think Seattle is hype. I

think the Seahawks are real. I think this team is
ready for this moment. And I'm going to tell you
right now. I'm not gonna give my prediction till Friday,
but I think that if Mike McDonald's defense is able
to impose their will and make this game an ugly
rock fight like you saw on Monday night in that

just ugly, disgusting ROSI o'donald type game between the Eagles
and Packers. If this game turns into a rock fight,
it's exactly up Seattle's alley. If this game turns into
a shootout and a track meet, it's going to be
the Rams day. So I'm hoping that the under will

be in play and that this Seattle defense will be
able to impose their will on the guy right now,
if you had to take a vote, is the most
valuable player in the NFL, Matthew freaking Stafford at thirty
soon to be thirty eight years old. Matthew Stafford is

getting it done, and he's doing it at He's getting
better with age. He's getting better with age, and I
hope that this game plan because the Seahawks right now
are the number one seed, number one in the NFC.
Number two are the Philadelphia Eagles. Number three are actually

you know what, I take that back. Number three are
now the LA Rams. The Packers drop now to four,
and yeah, so the Packers drop down to four. So well,
the division leaders anyway, regardless are they're still Green Bay, No, No, Detroit,

Philly and Tampa. Seattle's the number one seed, but Seattle
can drop to the fifth spot with a loss on Sunday,
so this game is is huge. Jalen Sundell don't know
his status. He got hurt on Sunday and we're still
waiting for update on that. And obviously Julian Love is

still out, so there's that, but this team has been
hurt by injuries all season long, and they continue, whether
it's Tyres Knight, whether it's DeMarcus Lawrence, to find a
way to win. And to me, now everybody talks about
the shade that Seattle sports teams get from the national media,

and I would say that's fair, but now it's the
antithesis of that. Now everybody is telling the world how
great the Seattle Seahawks truly are, which they are, but
now it's like, how do you now play when you
are the hunted instead of the hunter? How do you
play now? And I think Mike McDonald in this defense,

they're gonna come out, This tenacious defense is gonna come
out and they are going to impose their will on
this Rams offense. Who is lighting it up? Puka Nakua,
Davonte Adams, Higbee, these guys too too at well, I mean,
they're they're a lot, but they haven't faced a team.

(11:21):
They haven't faced a defense like the Seattle Seahawks all
season long. Eagles are they? I mean they did face
the Eagles. They lost that game they should have won.
But the Seahawks defense are better than the Eagles this year.
So I would say the only defense two of them
that are comparable to Seattle this year. I mean, the
Rams have a great defense too. I'm not saying they're not,

but the two defenses that are that, to me, are
almost as good as Seattle. I have three of them Rams, Patriots, Broncos,
Houston two Houston as well, but obviously they're hurting because
they've been besieged by injuries shrouds out. This game, though,
to me, is everything on Sunday. Seattle wins this game,

you go to Tennessee the following week, and then everything
starts to set up very nicely. The rest of the way,
and the road to the NFC West comes once again
through Lumenfield, And wouldn't that be absolutely unbelievable. So this

game is everything I hate LA. I did a promo
when I first started about how much I hate everything LA,
including the Rams, including their fake, plastic, superficial, pretentious people
and sports fans. LA has the It's the worst sports
city in the entire world, certainly the country. These fans

they won a Super Bowl four years ago, and don't
be surprised if the Seahawks fans take over Sofi Stadium
on Sunday and you start hearing the chance see Hawks,
don't be surprised if you start hearing that, because this
is what happens, because LA sports fans, or maybe they
will show up. Maybe they'll show up on Sunday, because

this game is the game of the weekend, if not
the year in the NFC, this could be for the
number one seed in the NFC. So it's everything. But
I have confidence in Mike McDonald. The Seahawks right now
in the league are number two, only behind the Indianapolis

Colts in point differential. Colts are plus one fifteen, Seahawks
are plus one h three, and right behind the Hawks
are the Rams at ninety eight. So this game is everything.
And by the way, let me also state cannot state
it enough. Seattle's record on the road in the Mike

McDonald era, it cannot be overstated enough. Eleven and one.
That's pretty much unbeatable. Eleven and one. So get ready
because it's all happening right now, and this Sunday is everything,
and I've already I'm already in that mode. I am

ready for Sunday. I can't freaking wait for Sunday. And
I hope that this team is gonna come out and
they're gonna do exactly what I expect them to do.
But if this turns into a replica of the Bucks
and the Hawks game and the uniform porn game, the

throwback Jersey game, it's gonna be bad news for us
because the Rams have they're just better on that side
of the ball. If these two teams going back up
and down the field and it's it turns into an overfest,
it's bad. That's not what we want. We want this
game to be muddied up. We wanted to be a
rock fight. We wanted to be ugly, just like that

Eagles Packers game on Monday Night. That's exactly what we want.
If that happens, Seattle Seahawks will be eight and two
and the number one seed in the NFC period exclamation point.
So that to me is the game plan. Now, how
do you contain you're not going to stop Stafford in
Nakula in Devonte Adams for four quarters? How can you

mitigate the damage. I think the key number in this
game for this Seahawks defense is holding the Rams to
under twenty points. They hold them the under twenty, you
win the game. If they score twenty three or more
they win the game. We'll talk to Hugh Millen coming
up at noon about this. We talked to Hugh yesterday.

We didn't get to the Seahawks because we were so
concentrated on the jedfish stuff and everything with that. Hugh
will join us coming up at noon, so we get

talk obviously Seahawks and want to get his assessment on
what he saw on Sunday when it was thirty five
to nothing with eight and a half minutes left in

was great last night. I mean he faced thirty four
freaking shots and he saved all but two of them,
and you know, losing, but last night, let's talk. I
mean Matt Murray. That was a stand on his head performance.
I'm gonna look at the glass full, half full and

not half empty. What about what did you see in
his game last night in goal for Joey to cord
and what he did last night because he was awesome. Now,
defense wasn't so great in terms of allowing all those shots,
but he was great.

What I saw was the goaltender MJ that answered a
lot of questions that we had coming into the season
with who would be picking the slack up when Joey
would not be available? And you know, I think all
things considered, you know the ups and downs that Matt
Murray's gone through last few years, injuries being a big
part of the equation. He really turned back the clock

(24:36):
last night. I thought, you know, the guy that you
know was a big, big winch pain for the Pittsburgh
Penguins when they won those back to back Stanley Cups
with Crosby, Maulket et cetera. As as far as that core,
he played a different game than Joey to court. Joey's
a put mover in addition to his athleticism, You're looking
at Matt Murray to make the basic saves, but you know,

just you know, kind a way to settle matters down
when the other team dumps the puck in and reset
it for his own defense. There wasn't really one play
mj I dot where Matt Murray looked very, very uncomfortable,
or that the play was going too fast for him.
He's getting up there in age obviously, which you know

begs the question lateral movements. You know, hip work. You
know it's a younger man's game now in the NHL.
But Matt Murray I thought, really backed up the advertisement
we were given as far as his work he put
in from this past summer, rededicating himself with the conditioning.

These are the kind of games the crack and will
need to stay in the mix here for this playoff race.
I mean, I think we all know by now again
this is the team that's got to win games three
to two, two one. I mean, based on how this
is all constructed, it's tough to ask them to try
to pile up five six goals a night life. Say

what Colorado can do or Edmonton can do here. So
goltending is a big, big part of this picture here.
And you know, Matt Murray hits the crack and a
found a way to win that game last night, far
and away. What happened for a start of the game.

He was great, Mike. I don't know how many times
I have to say this. I'll say it over and
over again and and unfortunately, as Led Zeppelin one said,

they don't have uh McDavid. And until they get that guy,
until they get what you like and Mayer and you
guys like to talk about an aircraft carrier, it's it's
gonna be a lot.

I love what I've seen of this team so far.
They're gritty. They're tied now with Colorado for the most
overtime losses with that tells me. How about that game
a few weeks ago where they're down three nothing with
ten and a half minutes to go at home against Montreal.
I believe they come back. They forced that thing to overtime,
and at that point, I'm like, listen, I didn't even

like I wanted them to win an ot, but I'm
like to force that game the overtime. That to me
is a reflection of Lane Lambert. But Lane Lambert needs
an aircraft carrier. He needs a young Ovechkin, he needs
a young Crosby, just like every team does. He doesn't
have that here. And until they get that here, it's
gonna be it's They look so much better, and they

(27:34):
look like a playoff team, but they need, as they
would say, and my former Stomping grounds, a STA and
they don't have a STA.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
And I think it leaves us here to ask how
long is it going to take to land one of
these guys? Because until you can land someone, or until
somebody can pops this is a kind of hockey bat
you have to play. It is all about shot suppression,
It is all about goldtending, It is all about special teams.

And you know two of the three didn't you know,
work out in the crack and way last night, and
they got sidetracked from their game as a result, which
led a very very entire Columbus team right back into it.
That was you know, battling the flu bugget. It really
was a game that you know, MJ they really should
have put away I think first or second period. But
you know, you go back here to the aircraft carrier conversation.

This is what elevates teams to close games that can
take the next level and then break through. And even
so it's again a one man show where if you're trailing,
say by a goal or two goals, that player can
be a difference maker. Case in point was two nights
ago when Columbus was in Edmonton, and I mean Edmonton

looked dead in the water once again. They're going on
the road now, and they came off a nine to
one loss where Chris Noblocks said he hopes it is
rock bottom for them. Well, guess to drag them right
back into the fight, Conor McDavid, who just went absolutely
nuclear against Columbus. Those are difference makers which can turn
what looks like sure fire loss is more often than

(29:13):
not into at least points into overtime or close games
in two wins. It's a heck of a lot easier
than the alternative here. So in the meantime, where does
this team stand here as the obvious question. Well, I
mean getting guys like out, I mean getting top line guys. Say,
like in baseball, where free agency is more common, is

(29:34):
a much much less less odds making thing. Now in
this game, they are few and far between, and we're
seeing players even more so who are prepared to hit
the market now being gobbled up on long term contracts
even before they get them signed, which now places your
focus on drafting and developing. So you hope that one
of these days next tier is coming here for Matty Veneers,

(29:56):
that it's coming here for Shane Wright and Berkeley Catton here,
and he's going to take his lumps I think in
his first season for as long as he is here.
World juniors say, maybe aside from this or maybe the
Ahel conditions, does you know place where it was certainly
a possibility here, but even tires a way, a guy
like Jack O'Brien who was tearing up major junior right

(30:16):
now and maybe needs some ahl stend time next year
as well. These are guys where you're pointing your chips
and hoping that they can turn into be you know,
twenty five, thirty, maybe even forty goal guys, because this
is where you have to bank on your future is
through drafting and developing here. So they're coming right now,

(30:37):
but it's still very much work in progress here at
this point.

look so much better. They got a coach. His name
is Lane Lambert, and he's the real deal, and I
like him, and I really really they finally got it right, finally,

they'll have to develop, whether it's Maddy Beni or Shane Wright,
one of these guys. But they're gonna have to get

that he is now when he came into the league.
It took him a while to develop. So it's gonna

last playoff spot. If we're talking about a last playoff

and those two teams played, you have to honor the
direct comparison game that was played.

a hope that Texas falls off. They've got a hope
that Vandy gets beat by Tennessee. They've got a hope

in that position. But if they can get to a
position where they're in direct comparison with Notre Dame, I
even will pound the table for Miami, and rightly so.

Emmy is the highest ranked team out of the ACC
and the ACC is a chaotic situation potentially depending on
how these last few weeks play out, It seems as
if maybe there was a bit of a course correction
on the ranking of the Hurricanes. I know, a couple
of teams lost, but you also have some head to
head components to evaluate there.

What was the discussion like on Miami.

Yeah, I mean Miami. You know, I think reche you
said it. You know, we had some some teams lose,
and again, you know, the conversation with with Miami has been,
you know, about their consistency, their consistency especially on on offense. Uh,
they've been really really good, you know, on on defense obviously,
you know, the the head to head with with Notre

Dame comes up, and you know, so a lot of
conversation about Notre Dame game seven straight, you know, better
defensively than what they were at the beginning of the year.

We've got great respect from Miami. You know when you
think about the the eye test, they're really talented both
