Speaker 1 (00:03):
It's MJ in the Midday on a Thursday here on
Seattle Sports Leader ninety three to three KJRFM, Mark James
here with you, and I'm just gonna tell you this,
and I'm bringing on a former Husky and a guy
who he ended his career, his college career here with you,
Dub and then his NFL career here with the Seahawks.

(00:26):
So this guy's got Seattle written all over him. I'm
gonna tell you something right now. And I don't throw out,
you know, praise to guys if they're not deserving of this.
And you guys all know me. In the nine months
I've been here, I'm the toughest critic. This guy is
a major star in the making and the broadcast business.
And I'm talking about former Husky spent over a decade

(00:48):
in the NFL, nearly all that with the Oakland Raiders
before they moved to Vegas, and ended it here with
the Seattle Seahawks from the Big ten network where he
is a star at Right now, Marcel rece here for
the first time on MJ and the Midday. Marcel, I
gotta tell you thank you very much for making time.

(01:08):
We appreciate it. And I respect and admire the living
hell out of your work.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Mark, Man, I appreciate that. I don't know if I've
I've had an intro like that in a very long time.
I'm gonna have to start traveling with you, bring you
traveling with me and just have you introduce me like that. No,
but I definitely appreciate you. In Jay in the Midday
heard nothing but great things. Sorry, I didn't get to
see you in person early in the season when we

(01:36):
did the Husky game. But man, I appreciate you having
me on. No.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Absolutely, Hey, man, just like my favorite rap group of
all time, Public Enemy, You're Chuck d on Flavor Flave.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
I'll just hype. I'm your hype man. So there we go.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Everybody needs one, right man.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
I literally like you, and I told you this off
the air, and I'll say it on the air because
I don't mind saying it. We had Lewis Ridick on
last week from me ESPN and a guy who if
a certain NFL owner knows what he's doing. As there's
a new GM job open up in Miami, Lewis Riddick
will no longer be with ESPN. He'll be the next
general manager of the Dolphins. But I see when I

(02:13):
watch your work on Big ten Network, Man, you got
a lot of Lewis Riddick in you, and you are fantastic,
all right, So I've done that.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
You could tell your.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Agent that I'm gonna, actually, you know, all of a
sudden now that I'm gonna take part of the earnings
because I'm I'm but deservedly so, Marcel.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
So let's start.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
What the hell happened to your alma mater last week?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
On the road?

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Ten and a half eleven point favorite and can't randle
when if I said to you before that game, Marcel,
that Wisconsin's is gonna throw for forty eight passing yards total,
and twenty four of those we're gonna be combined from
three quarterbacks, you would have said, how much did the
Huskies win by?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
It didn't happen. They got upset? What happened?

Speaker 2 (02:59):
You know what? Ajay? I've tried to erase that game
out of my mind, just like I know a lot
of Husky fans tried to do. But here's here's the thing.
There's there are so many variables that that that go
into winning football games, especially in the hardest conference in
college football. In the Big Ten because everyone plays tough,

(03:21):
no one gives in, and it is so hard to
win football games in it. And you know, to be honest,
I think, uh, there's some bit of our husky that
kind of looks forward a little bit over Wisconsin and
maybe Purdue last week, and uh, and it'll catch you
every single time. You know, if you're looking at it

(03:42):
from a football perspective. We have to run the ball better.
We have to run the ball more. We have to
be consistent, we have to be efficient and then explosive
in the run games. And we have the best runner
in the business in Jolah Coleman to do it. And
for some reason, we we've lost that identity that we've
had early on in the season. We're running the football.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Marcel I was at the game also against Ohio State. Now, listen,
you lose to Ohio State at home. Listen, there's no
shame in that. I mean, these guys can make anybody
look pedestrian. There's no At Michigan. I was disappointed, but
Demond threw three interceptions that game.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
You throw three interceptions, you're not gonna win.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
In Michigan has elite athlete, So you can see when
demand's ready to turn on those burners like Kyler Murray
did at Oklahoma. Then like the defense closed quickly when
you got Ohio State Michigan. But that Wisconsin game, man,
like I just and the defense was fine. Ryan Walters
did a good job. It just that to me was

(04:40):
that was Jedfish's worst moment in his brief coaching career
at Washington. Now I got to ask you this, as
an alum and a proud alum of the University of
Washington and fine traditional football program that you play for
here on Mottlake, what is your assessment so far of Jedfish?
Marcel there are rooms out there about him, his alma

(05:02):
mater at Florida maybe UCLA. Uh So, what is and
after what happened on Saturday, what can you say about
Jed Fish? Which is, you know, he's a year and
three quarters through his first two seasons on at the
University of Washington. What would you say about him?

Speaker 2 (05:20):
I'm gonna say this, Jed Fish is the fantastic football coach.
He has an unbelievable offensive mind. His IQ is through
the roof when it comes to football, is particularly on
the offensive end. I will also say this and urge
all Husky fans, Husky players, future Husky players to understand
that if your coach is coveted in any way, shape

(05:42):
or form, or are there rumors out there that means you
have a good woman, he's doing something right. They are
doing something right. You know, I would never judge a
coach by one moment, one game, or even sometimes one season.
You know, there there again, there are so many variables
going to winning games and playing the right way. But

(06:03):
I'll say this if I had the summon up in
one statement, Jetfish is a good football coach. We know
he can do that. Pat Chuck in the athletic department,
I've done a phenomenal job of giving him everything that
he needs in order to build a program the way
to hid like him. So you know you'll hear a
bunch of cries out there from fans and and and

(06:26):
and others and pundits saying, get rid of this guy,
get rid of that guy. You don't get rid of
a good coach unless you know what your plan is
moving forward. And I believe that the University of Washington
and the Huskies are in a good spot in this
program with Jet Fish and the group that.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
We have yeah, and he's nothing too and and maybe
he still is a candidate for some of those jobs.
And he came out in that press conference on Monday
and he emphatically lea denied any of those rumors. He said,
these people would list don't know have any legitimate information
to back that up. And all that being said, I

(07:04):
think for Washington's football program in their immediate future and
Jedfish and his professional immediate future, I think that they
stay together for another year.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Right, don't you agree with that?

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I mean, this is a mutually beneficial agreement between the
Washington Husky's football program and Jetfish. There's so much invested
on both sides that it is it will just behooves
everyone to be where we are and continue to extend
and grow in the right direction, because that is where

(07:38):
this program is headed to. Jetfish doesn't want to start over,
and the Huskies don't want to start over, and I
believe that we just need to figure out how to
get over the hump and go from a really good
football team to an elite football team. And they continue
fighting for a CFP spot because we have to understand
we went last week and and the next this coming week,

(08:00):
all over all of a sudden looking at an unofficial
border war with the with the organ dust fighting for
a CFP spot and trying to figure out, hey, are
we going to be the third or fourth team and
the big ten going into the CFP, and that is
where we're right where we want to be. Last week
was one of those, just a small setback into to

(08:21):
us being that elite football team they were.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
And by the way, when you looked at the schedule
prior to last Saturday, Marcel, look, you looked at Wisconsin, Purdue,
UCLA and everybody in human nature you probably did as well.
You're like, okay, nine and two going in the finale
against Oregon ninety two.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
And you're like, you got a chance.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
You knock off Fourregon, You're ten and two, You're going
to the playoffs and all that that loss was was
just monumental.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
But you gotta move on, right, Mark.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
You're right, and I'm gonna I'm gonna give you an
NBA Midday exclusive and say that loss is on me,
because you're absolutely right. I let my fans side get
ahead of me, and I looked ahead of the schedule
instead of my football mind. I looked ahead of the
schedule and said, we're gonna go into Oregon, both of
us having two losses, and we're gonna knock the Ducks

(09:13):
off and be number three team in the Big Ten
going into the CFP. So it's my fault, all right,
We're putting it on me, and I gotta.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Well, you're too beloved in the PNW. No one's blaming you,
believe me, But I say, hey, you know what I
said on Freezing Cold Takes. Marcel I said after the
Mariners went up two games to none on the Blue Jays,
I put game over, series over, onto the World series.
And I hate those words, and believe me, a lot

(09:42):
of people have blamed me for Jigs and the Mariners sowhere. Yeah,
there's that Marcel Reese, former Washington Husky, former NFL player,
former Seattle Seahawk, currently with the Big Ten network.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
I want to get your thoughts.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Last thought on Washington Demon Williams in a word and
a sentence, in in a paragraph, what do you think
of his play?

Speaker 2 (10:02):
If I had to say a word, I would say electric.
If I had to say give you a sentence, I
would say that he shows splashes of absolute greatness. And
if I had to give you a paragraph. I would
say that DEMM Williams is on the cusp of being
one of the all time great college quarterbacks. He possesses

(10:22):
this not just the athleticism aside from the medicine, because
there are a ton of athletic quarterbacks out there, but
he possesses this balance of composure, awareness in the pocket,
and accuracy that when it all comes together, he's unstoppable.
He's an unstoppable ball player. His leadership for a true

(10:43):
sophomore is exceptional. You know, I'm out here, my family
lives and I we're out here in Arizona, nearby where
he's from. I've met his dad's family. We spoke of
a ton of times, and the young man is an
exceptional young man and he is going to continue to grow.
And what we've seen from him is not his peak.

(11:03):
It's very the very beginning of what Demn Williams is
going to be. If we can, Laura Willing, keep him
healthy and continue that development, we have a really special
young man on our hands here at the Huskies.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Denzel Boston projected first round pick. There's been a lot
of great sivers that have come out of the UDUB program.
A Doonzay, PAULK. McMillan, and there's a lot of guys
who have also grown up in the area, a Mecca Abuka.
Who does Denzel Boston remind you of Marcel Reese?

Speaker 2 (11:35):
That's that is a tough one, you know. I used
to stay away from pro comps, but they become fun.
They've become fun in recent years, especially when I was
an executive over at the Raiders. But Denzel Boston really
reminds me of I would say Mike Evans. He has

(11:57):
the ability to stretch the field. He has a very
wide catch radius. He's a hands catcher. Being a hands
catcher is so important and underrated when people are evaluating
when we have these evaluated evaluating young wide receivers. Being
a natural hands catcher is a special special trait that
is very hard to teach when you once you get
to the pros. He's a hands catcher. He runs precise

(12:19):
routes for a long receiver. He could get in and
out of his breaks exceptionally well. Dinzel Boston is a
special receiver. Again. Health right now, especially health is important,
but Denel Boston is a really good one man. Again,
being a receiver coming out of University of Washington. I know,

(12:40):
the pedigree of receivers.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Right if we're talking about Reggie Williams, the Corey Williams's,
there's a ton of you know, there's so many Germaine curses.
There's so many receivers coming out of the Pacific Northwest
with exceptional ability.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Denzel Boston is right up there with the best of them.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
That's awesome, tremendous trace. Yeah, that's a great Wow, first
ballot Hall of Famer Mike Evans. You can't go wrong
with that, all right, So let's go to college football
playoff rankings. They came out on Tuesday night, Marcel, what
stood out to you the most.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Other than the Big Ten being the best foot West
conference in college football with the ability? I mean, I'm
looking at this and I'm saying, I love the job
of the rankings. They all they pretty much all make sense. Obviously,
Ohio State at one, in Indiana at two. You know,
we have the Big Ten to have an opportunity, depending

(13:34):
on how it all shakes out, especially with our championship game.
Uh in Indianapolis. We're looking at the possibility of a
championship game, a conference championship game. Haven't be possessing number
one and number two, and it's not talked about about
nearly enough. Legit number one and number two both going
in there undefeated. Uh. But depending on how that all
shakes out. Looking at three big ten teams being in

(13:58):
the semi finals. You know, right now, obviously we have
Ohio data won and possibly playing Moregan in the quarterfinals.
But if those things, if some of those things shift around,
and we're looking at it's a really cool thing when
we're looking at the CFP right now with these twelve teams.
I think the committee did a really good job of

(14:19):
the rankings and I couldn't disagree with any of them.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
You know, I'm going to tell you this week, and
you know, I went to the U and I thought
last week we were done, we were out, season over,
And this week all the pundits are saying that Miami
was the biggest winners in the rankings that came out
Tuesday night. Now, you can't have any more mess ups
along the way. You got to take care of business.

(14:43):
You got NC State at home, at Virginia Tech and
at pitt and then you put yourself and I think
there's a lot of things. I think Texas will possibly
lose at Georgia this weekend. I think Alabama handles Oklahoma
b why you could have another lost Tennessee could be Vanderbilt.
But let me ask you these two teams in the
Big Ten that are right there on the outside looking in,

(15:05):
but believe you me could be on the inside looking out.
Let's start with USC and they go to Oregon next week.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Yeah. See, that's the thing.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
USC.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
They took those those two losses early and then they
start to catch their stride and play really well. But
that's the thing. You're looking at a USC team that
still has to play Oregon and and can they get
it right? What USC team is going to show up right?
Their defense? They have unbelievable athletes on both sides of
the ball. Makai Lemon is when I say, I mean,

(15:42):
you can't find many receivers, not even receivers playmakers that
have been more exciting to watch than Makay Lemon. He
can do it all. He plays much bigger than a stature.
But then you have Oregon who is also a must
see TV and playing extremely extremely well, and they are
going to be hard to beat for anyone. You know,

(16:02):
when you look at SC it's like Doctor Jekyl and
mister Hide. If I'm being honest, I mean, you don't
know what offense is gonna show up. Are they gonna
run the ball? Are they gonna be ballast? Are they
gonna sit back and try and throw the ball forty
forty fifty times a game? Now, if they sit back
there and try and throw the football, they're gonna be
under pressure and not gonna work out too well for him.

(16:23):
But if Lincoln Riley makes a conscious effort to run
the football and stick with that run, I mean they're
in their third running back and averaging over one hundred
and fifty yards a game since he's been in the lineup.
If they make the conscious effort to run the football,
they're gonna give the best runs for their money. It's
gonna make an interesting game.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
All right.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
The other team I got to ask you about, and
they are Ryan Day's biggest nemesis, his kryptonite, the Michigan
Wolverines under true freshman Bryce Underwood. They go they have
a buy this weekend. Excuse me, they just had to buy.
They go to Northwestern on Saturday, then they go to
Maryland and again, you got to take care of business.
But then they host the team that even Ryan Day

(17:06):
had issues not only against Jim Harbow but Sharon Moore,
and they got to host them. And we all know
Ohio State and even as a twenty one and a
half point favorite last year at the Horseshoe, Marcel Rees,
they got upset and then they go on and win
the national title. But if Michigan wins out, are they
in the playoffs?

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Oh? If Michigan wins out, they are absolutely in the playoffs.
I mean you're talking about a two loss team that
has a win over the number one team in the country.
They absolutely make the playoffs. And I don't care who
you kick out for them. They if they can pull
off the miracle and beat the buck Guys. Here's the
thing about Michigan. They always have athletes. They're always going

(17:50):
to be able to run the ball, and they always
have a tough defense. Wink Martin Dale has done a
phenomenal job this year of dialing up huge plays and
figuring out really really cool schematic blitzes and pressures whenever
that team needs to stop. And when you can do
those things, those you always give yourself a chance to win.

(18:14):
The thing about Michigan. That is the biggest variable with
people don't account for is the mystique of big Blue.
I spent nearly my entire year, my entire career with
the Oakland Raiders, and you talk about that. There's no
bigger mistique than being in the silver and black. When
it comes to college football. The Michigan Wolverine simply have

(18:35):
that mystique that has mind control over certain organizations. And
Ohio State is one of those games. When you have
rivalry games in college you just have to grade them
on a scale. College football has that ability, especially when
you're when depending on if you're home or way, that
game is a major game, not just for Michigan but

(18:56):
also for.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
Ohio State all in college book.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
I mean, listen, the last two years, you know, like
I was going to say, the winner of that game
went on to win the national title, but last year,
the loser of that game went on to win the
national title, which is crazy.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Right exactly, But again you have to gree. You're looking
at Ohio State going into that game and you're just like, well,
they have two running backs that are both going for
one thousand yards. They have the best wide receiver possibly
ever to touch a college football field in Jeremiah Smith
and he's not even their first round draft pick that's

(19:33):
on the field. You know, you know you have Jackson
Smith and Jig, But I mean that team was unbelievable.
That roster is fantastic. Ye and you're looking at the
Michigan team that is under man, can't throw the football
for anything, and they go out there and they beat him.
So this is why we play the game. This is
why football is the greatest game in the world, because

(19:56):
no matter what the stats are, no matter what the
rosters look like, no matter what the records are, oddly,
you have to go out there and play the game.
And Michigan is one of those teams that is going
to always be in it. And right now that I
mean they have a young star at quarterback. They could
run the not out of the football, and they are
still a tough defense.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
So you did end your career here with the Seahawks,
and you spent your college career here with you dub
but you spent the majority of your NFL career with
the Silver and Black, the Oakland Raiders. And I've got
to ask you, because there's the connection obviously with Seattle
former coach beat Carroll, former starting QB G Know Smith,
former starting wide receiver Tyler Locke, Jamal Adams. We can

(20:38):
go on what has gone on there and are how
I mean, you were a guy that was part of
that front office brass for a while, and you are
someone that the owner, Mark Davis certainly values highly as
justifiably so. But if you could what's going on with
the twenty twenty five Las Vegas Raiders and man, that

(20:59):
thing they just had seen the get out of their
way and listen. We've had former Husky and a former
Raider Lincoln Kennedy on before and I mean, Marcel, what's
going on with them?

Speaker 2 (21:11):
You know, pro football, I mean, any football team you
have to have an identity. This Raiders team, this twenty
twenty five, twenty twenty six Raiders team, they don't necessarily
have an identity yet. You know, they don't know if
they want to sit back and throw the ball all
the way around or or or or run the football.
Are they going to any mistake on defense? Right now?

(21:34):
It's just a bunch of really good athletes and good players,
good coaching minds, but nothing is necessary cohesive. Yet they're
you know, they're not Raiders yet, you know they don't
have that identity even when you know, I've been on
some teams that that that lost quite frankly a lot
of games. There's one thing where we knew who we were,

(21:54):
and we knew every time you came against us, you
were going to fill us the next morning. We were
gonna play tough, we were gonna play hard. We're going
to be in the fight. Uh. This raidered team is
still trying to find their way, and that's okay. Pete
Carroll has an innate ability to galvanize the locker room, uh,

(22:14):
energize and motivate young athletes, and and and and and
a young locker room. And I think he's starting to
get some guys in there that he can he can
motivate and and that will that really want to play
for him. But this team is gonna have to be
able to run the football. They're gonna have to find
what runs, shoot Ashton gent and and call the game
according to the players that they have. And right now

(22:36):
I don't think they're necessarily doing that, but they're gonna
find their way. I'm confident in that I know one thing.
They have a star absolute supers megastar in Max Crosby,
and that's my that's my little brother. And he he
he's unbelievable and he is must watching, must see ked
no matter whom they're playing a game, So no matter
how many guys are guarding him, he is special. You

(22:57):
want to want to know what what real race football
looks like, watch number ninety eight every single Sunday, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
All right, before we let you go, Marcel Reese from
the Big Ten Network, former Husky, former Seahawks, and the Seahawks.
You look at what John Schneider has done moving on
from Geno Smith, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett with Sam Darnold, JSN,
Cooper cup De Marcus Lawrence and in the play that
this team they have possibly not only the game of

(23:23):
the weekend, but maybe the game of the year seven
and two verse seven and two, maybe for the division.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
On Sunday, Seahawks in a SOFI stadium. Who wins? And why?

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Oh that's a tough one. That is that is tough.
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna say who's gonna win
the division? I think week just Sunday, this one game,
this Sunday, I believe I believe the Rams will take
this Sunday all right. And the reason me and I
love John Snyder. I love what this team is doing. Uh,

(23:56):
they are built to really go far in the playoffs.
They're really They're built to make a run. And that's
what John Snyder does. You may not know why he's
making a certain decision, but one thing I loved about
John and picking his brain as when I was a
player up there spending time at Seattle and still talk
though to this day, is that he does everything for
with a purpose. Some things just some people just do things.

(24:17):
I always say, we're either doing things with a purpose
or on purpose. And every move he makes is strategic
with a purpose, and he always has a plan, and
I love that about John. Speaking about this Sunday specifically,
I just think that this Rams team and the Rams
offense in particular, is moving at a pace that they're
really hot right now, and I don't believe that they're stoppable.

(24:40):
The way that Puka the Cool is playing, the way
that Devonte Adams is playing and re energized by this offense,
and what what Sean McVay is doing with with with
Matthew Stafford, with Matthew Stafford. They are the two of them.
The way they operate is particularly in the regular season
because there near season is different than the playoffs. Right,

(25:02):
you can be you can you can be semi one
dimension in the in in in the regular season, and
it worked for you in the playoffs being short shortened
up and the red zone is shorter. Everything's tighter and tougher,
and the Seahawks are built for that type of atmosphere.
Right now in the regular season. I just think that
this RAMS team is so hot that that they're going
to get a moving and and pull off the victory

(25:23):
this week.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
All right, Marcel Reese, former Washington Husky, former Seattle Seahawks,
and beloved here in the PNW from the Big ten Network,
excellent broadcaster. Uh he's a shining, bright, shining star. Hey,
the first time we chopped it up with you certainly
not the last. And man, I can't wait to talk
to you again. And by the way, speaking on behalf

(25:44):
of everybody here in Seattle, we hope that your prediction
is wrong on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
For everyone there in Seattle. Remember I did say they
were going to win the division. I think it's just
one game, but my predictions are are very rarely all right, there.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
By the way, fair enough, Hey, listen to Rams are
a great team too.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Marcel Reese coming up next here on MJ and the
Midday Factor Fiction. Don't go anywhere. We appreciate Marcel Reche
joining us and stay tuned right here. On Sports Radio
ninety three to three KJRFM, Seattle, We're.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Set to go.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Glad you're with us.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand Prize. It's fact Door fiction probably
presented by Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel were every day feels.
Lucky Factor fiction is on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kjr FM.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
All right, kid, saw you?

Speaker 6 (26:41):
All right, Ladies and gentlemen, go ahead and text in fact,
I'm taking he Los Angeles chargers minus three on the
road at the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
I really thought for a second you were going to
take the Los Angeles Reus.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
You said Los.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Angeles like, oh, kicking a collar. He's checking the collar.
All right, gonna wait till tomorrow. You want to do
it today?

Speaker 2 (27:01):
You will? All right? Charges?

Speaker 3 (27:03):
All right, I got you, I got you.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
Chargers minus three on the road at Jacksonville's across the
country trip. But I think this team is up for it,
I believe, and what they got going. I got a
good head coach, a solid quarterback, they got some weapons outside.

Speaker 7 (27:15):
Go ahead and handle business on the road.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
Minus three, easy play, go ahead and text in fact
if you agree four nine, four to five to one fact.
If you agree, if you disagree, you're gonna text in
four nine, four or five to one fiction. So again,
the pick is in Los Angeles Chargers minus three at
the Jacksonville Jaguar should be a fun game, but I
expect the Chargers to pull it out and be victorious.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Remember how when they drafted Quinton Johnston out of TCU
and he dropped more balls than puberty.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Remember that.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
Yes, the new guy, the new Quinton Johnson who's dropping
more balls than puberty, is Ronde Gadsden Junior. Because as
you know, I had justin Herbert over passing yards on
Sunday night versus Pittsburgh, and dude was, I'm like, does Herbert.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
Have to catch it for you too? I mean, he's
putting it on the money.

Speaker 7 (28:07):
The news is it's a simple fix. As you saw
with Quinton Johnson.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Yeh, he's doing good.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
He's doing really good. Doing this takes time. It's annoying
for like, are putting money on guys to I don't
know do their job. So with that being said, MJ
has a point there. But you know what, a good
year of offseason training on the jugs machine and playing
with Herbert those hens should be good to go by
twenty twenty six.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
What do you say, I don't know, but maybe we'll see.
But yeah, I mean he's got the athletic he's got
the size and the ability. One of the things too,
I looked at is that what do you think Pete
Carroll right now is doing saying? Did I bite off
more than I can chew? In terms of I'm coming
into a division with one of the greatest coaches of

(28:46):
all time Andy Reid hall of Famer already, a guy
who's a Hall of Famer in college, Jim Harbaugh and
Sean Payton who will be in the Hall of Fame
one day, and you're like, they're you know, the distance,
So you look at the AFC West to the NFC
West AFC West, the distance between let's just say, now,

(29:06):
the Chiefs susan third place, but like Chargers Chiefs Broncos
down to Raiders is monumental. The difference between the Seahawks
rams forty nine Ers down to the Cardinals. Yes, it's
there's a disparity, but not to the level where the
Raiders are at. Now, I mean it's just bad, it's
it's really bad. So but Chargers are legit man three

(29:28):
team to three team playoff division, same thing like NFC
West should be a three team playoff division.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
There's not many of those out there.

Speaker 7 (29:33):
I'm saying a lot of texts about the no bounce back.
Don't worry. It's being counted. So if you're texting in
it'll be it'll be fixed. Do not worry. I promise you.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Ah, that's happened two days in a row.

Speaker 7 (29:44):
Now, Oh, just giving you guys a heads up. All right,
all right, I'll give the pick one more time case
you missed it.

Speaker 6 (29:49):
I'm taking the Los Angeles Chargers minus three at the
Jacksonville Jaguars. If you agree, you're gonna text in fac
to four nine four or five to one if you're
thinking M so much or as MJ say, not so fast,
my friend, quoting Lee Corso, you got text in fiction
the four nine four five one pick us in.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
All right, there you go, kid.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
You were apparently horrible last year in this but you're
doing better now, right, was horrible this season, MJ. Well
you got but then you won a couple in a row. Yeah,
you did good, so getting lucky. Hey, here's about it
doesn't matter if you want to lose. It matters how
the people they vote, and as long as even if
they fade you and you losed and you're doing them
as sir, so it doesn't matter. It's all good either way.

(30:33):
It just just do it factor fiction. That's what matters.
All right, we got that. Uh, I will have the
MJ Pick of the Day courtesy of Fan Dual Sportsbooks
to Quamish Clearwater Casino Resort coming up next right here
on MJ in the midday and Mike Dugar at noon.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
It's time for clear Pix with Mark James, brought to
you by the Fan Duel Sports Book. That's Quamish Clearwater
because you know resort. We're loading you up for the
weekends games on your home for the twelfth Man Sports
Radio and three point three kJ R FM.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
All right, people, LFG, I'm ready. I you know what
Lee Sterling's gonna kill me on this one. Hey, he's
gonna kill me on this one. I should have I
should wait till picking the locks tomorrow night at seven o'clock,
which you can hear right here after Softy and Dick
on Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
But I'm gonna give it out now.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
You You have no idea how lucky you are to
have me to give you free picks that I should
be charging for and I'm giving them away for free
on the air. So I went through a lot of
research on this game, and I've already bet the game,
and I might bet four figures on this game.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
I love it so much.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Chiefs Broncos not touching the side, but the Chiefs, and
they've kind of been this way for the last couple
of years. They're a defensive team. Not that Patrick Mahomes
can't put up points, they're a defensive team. This year,
six of their nine games have gone under. How about
the Denver Broncos, one of the best defenses in the NFL.

(32:16):
Seven of their ten games has gone under. Vegas has
this at forty five. That's a high number for two
defensive minded teams and Kansas City on the road in Denver. Yeah,
their defense will travel. I don't know if the offense
will make it through TSA. Give me the under, give

(32:38):
me the under. So you know what that means, right,
I know you're waiting for what. It's not official until
I say it, right, It's not official until I say it.
Chiefs Broncos forty five total, Take the under. Bet it now,

(33:02):
wait for it, Wait for it, wait for it, thank
me later and all of you, each and every one
of you. This game will be going on. It kicks
off twenty minutes after the Hawks rams in LA on Sunday.
So if you're at mucleshoot Galaxy. By the way, they

(33:25):
have like a movie theater style screen at Galaxy for
the Hawks RAMS game. I'll make sure they put on
the Broncos Chiefs on a side TV and we can
watch together and we can root for the under.

Speaker 7 (33:37):
Do you know, kid?

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Before this year, do you know physically physically, I could
not watch games where I bet the Under. I couldn't
do it. No, I literally I was so stressed out.
I couldn't watch them. I wouldn't look at updates nothing.
And guess what happened?

Speaker 2 (33:54):
You know what?

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Happened the San Francisco forty nine ers Seattle Seahawks Week one.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
I was there. I gave out the under on the
air on fact or fiction. I bet it. It went
way under. And after that.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
It was like a It was like a cathartic therapy
session for me. And I can I can watch under
games now that I give out the under. It's okay.
Now you don't want if it gets up twenty one,
twenty one seven in the first quarter, I'm not watching
it anymore. No way, that's that's it. But under right,
here we go under. Ohoh, breaking news from Adam Schefter.

(34:35):
By the way, Adam Schefter completely fooled me today. He
was wearing a like a tattoo full sleeve, long sleeve
shirt and he was on get Up. And I'm like,
I would never have guessed that Schefter had two sleeves
him and he was wearing a shirt. And my friend

(34:55):
Seth Horowitz, who's probably listening right now that worked at
ESPN for twenty years and work with Schefter, said, yeah,
tattoos are frowned upon in Judaism, and you cannot get
buried in a Jewish cemetery if you have a tattoo.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
I did not know that. Now I know that, so
Adam Schefter, those are not real tattoos. That was a shirt.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
I learned something new every day. Thank you, Seth Horowitz.
I appreciate you. You know kind of listen. I know
my family. We go back to Warsaw Poland. I have
a lot of jew in my blood, a lot of it,
trust me.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
So but I didn't know that. I didn't know you
couldn't have a tattoo. So I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
It was something I did not and so I learned
something new even though I got fooled. So that's a
win win. It's like a it's like a win win.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
But I did not know that. Thank you Seth very
much for that.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
So there we go under Broncos Chiefs Broncos in Denver
on Sunday. It's going to be a very low scoring game,
and you're welcome. I'll just say this too, since I
already said my catch phrase. I already said it. I
only say it one time. I want like Tony Montana
send Scarf, I want you all. I gotta tell me

(36:04):
one time. I always say one time, you're welcome. There
you go, I'll say you're welcome ahead of time. I
said that the catchphrase only say one time, and then
I'll say you're welcome, because this is gonna hit big time.
Thank you to the fine folks at fan Duel soue
Quamish Clearwater Casino Resort. Don't forget they're the title sponsor

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
