Now from the Star Rentals Sports deus jord ninety three
point three KJRFM Sports headlines.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
All right, speaking of the devil. The twenty twenty five
NBA All Star Game last night in San Francisco, the
tm Ogs defeated the Global Stars forty one to twenty five.
And if you ask me what that means, I do
not know, but I do know my friend, yes he is.
And c K can back me up on this. Steph
Curry was presented with the Kobe Bryant Trophy as the
(00:28):
All Star MVP in his hometown obviously, well you know
the hometown that he's been in his entire career. USA
Manzaki team destroyed Canada not only on the ice three
to one, but they did it with the gloves on
Saturday night. They advanced to the finals. They play a
meaningless game today up in Boston against I believe it's Sweden.
(00:51):
It doesn't mean anything. They're already in the finals, so
hopefully those guys will get rest. Meanwhile, Canada and Finland
will kick off the final day of the round in
action at the Four Nations face off, also in Boston.
They are playing for a spot in the final game
against the United States of America in the NFL. This
is a really disturbing story. Sixteen massage therapists have alleged
(01:14):
improper sexual conduct by Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker. So
this is a follow up to the initial story a
couple of weeks ago. Seven more women have come forward
in a Baltimore Banner story published yesterday. The alleged incidents
all took place between twenty twelve and twenty sixteen. Not
good coming off a career worst season, looks to I
(01:35):
would imagine that the Baltimore Ravens probably looking to part
ways with him sooner than later. But that's just a guess.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
It's not smart basketball.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Well, I saw a clip not too long ago where
Kobe said, like, yo, it's accidental basketball.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
He couldn't have been more right.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
It was so refreshing to play against Brian because every
possession is like a chess match. But you don't just
get that on a regular basis. It's just who can
run faster, who can hit more threes. It's no substance,
and so I think it's very bar.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
That is Draymond Green and I am MJ. In the
midday Mark James coming to you live on President's Day
from the R and R Broadcast Studios KJR ninety three
to three FM. Christopher Kidd is on the other side
of the glass. So we are live.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
We are here.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
We did you know what we do go by the
Bill Belichick philosophy, no days off. That's what we do
here at KJR ninety three to three FM. So we
are live. There are no other than little sound clips
here and there. We are completely live. Speaking of President's Day,
you are gonna want to stay tuned for Softy and
(03:17):
Dick coming up this afternoon because they are gonna have
every single president on from the Kraken Todd Liwiki, UW
pres Anna Mora Cassey, Mariner's president Kevin Martinez, Seahawks president
Chuck Arnold, Vernier's president Aaron Hartman, and Sounders president Hugh Weber,
(03:42):
all coming up with Softy and Dick later on this
afternoon three to seven. Boring. No, not softy in Dick,
I'm talking about the current status in state of the NBA. Boring, boring, boring,
exactly what dra mand Green just said. That's what the
(04:06):
NBA product is right now. It is boring a f okay,
I don't need to you know exactly what that means.
It is. It's all coming down chucking up forty eight
three pointers saying who hits the most. There's no originality
and there's no substance at all anymore in the NBA,
(04:30):
and the game change. And I love Steph Curry. No
player probably in the history of the NBA has changed
the game more than Steph Curry has done over the
course of the last sixteen years since he's come into
the NBA out of Davidson in two thousand and nine.
Steph Curry made this game a perimeter game. Unfortunately, now
(04:50):
what you're seeing before your very eyes are why the
ratings are down. People are not watching. The ratings are
down five per I'm surprised they're not down twenty five percent.
And it's just there's nothing there that truly stands out
(05:10):
that when you watch, I'm just so thankful. And you know,
and here's the thing about it, My biggest question. Not
only is it boring, not only is the game lack
anything substance wise. You can't put the toothpaste back in
the tube. This is a cultural rot that goes beyond sports.
(05:35):
The game it's just it's become one dimensional. That's all
it is. It's it's just jacking up three pointers over
and over and over again. Go and look at an
NB box score and then look at the combined three
pointers attempts between both teams on any given night, and
(05:56):
it's it's just too much. And Draymond actually came out
and he actually said something that he quoted Kobe Bryant,
and I know you don't have that clip, kid, but
he talks about what Kobe Bryant said years ago, and
(06:16):
he's so right about the game and how all you
see is accidental basketball every now and then occasionally come
about it's accidental basketball. Oh he did say that in
the clip. All right, I was so focused on the boring.
Let me hear that again.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
It's not smart basketball.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
And well I saw a clip not too long ago
what Kobe said, like, Yo, it's accidental basketball.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Bingo.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
He couldn't have been more right.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Bingo. God rest in peace, Kobe Bryant and GG Bryant.
I can't believe it's been five years since that happened.
I don't want to even get there because that's just even.
But it's just you don't want to sound like your
big brother or your dad or your grandfather. But I'm
glad I was alive for the Michael Jordan Bulls two
(07:10):
three pete era in the nineties, for the Sonics with
George carl and Gary Payton and Nate McMillan and Sean
Kemp and Debtlift Shrimp. I'm glad I was alive for that.
And yeah, they couldn't. They didn't the game. It could
have been a perimeter game, but it was played differently.
It was coming off the Bad Boys era of the Pistons,
(07:32):
and it was played where Draymond even brought this up
as well. He said, when you play against Lebron, it's
like a chess match. It's a chess match. Now there's
no thinking anymore in the game. And listen, I'm the
biggest NBA guy that you might hear on this station
(07:55):
along with Kid. We love the NBA and I want
it to get better because I'm a pro NBA guy.
I love the NBA, I love college basketball. But what
you're watching right now is an abomination. And I will
tell you David Stern, he's rolling over in his grave
(08:15):
right now at what his product has become. His predecessor,
excuse me, his successor, Adam Silver. I don't know what
he can do. I'm not putting it all on Adam Silver.
I'm not because the game just changed. They realize that
it's a better percentage shot to take a three pointer
(08:35):
than to take a mid range jumper. The worst shot
you can take in basketball is a mid range jumper.
The two best shots you can take is a dunk
or a three point shot. And so they're gonna play
the odd they're gonna play the percentages. I understand that,
but it's bad. It's really bad. And now we have
the clip of Oscar Robertson and what he said in
(08:58):
response to what Draymond Green said. The big oh mister
triple double one of the greatest, maybe top ten players
in NBA history. Here's what he had to say in
response to Draymond Green.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Well out of Draymond said so much. You know, who
cares what Draymond says? It doesn't mean anything anything. This
is what I mean, you know. I mean, one guy
can say this, and one guy can say that. The
game is The game is what it is. People either
like the game or they don't. And I think people
enjoy the game, especially if the team can win. And
you look at the basketball. It might be born in
because if he's not past the ball to carrier, what
is he doing?
Speaker 3 (09:33):
You're great?
Speaker 5 (09:35):
I mean not to single that out because I think
he knows how to play basketball, but he's passed his
ball to carry more than anyone I've ever seen than basketball,
So it makes a lot. It might be born to
him at times because of what he's doing. Maybe it
is born when he's out there he's not getting you're
not shooting a lot and he's not guarding a lot.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
It's boring.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Uh. The person in there who said that the triple single.
That was a quote from Charles Barkley on years ago
when they were doing a broadcast. I don't know, maybe
about four years ago. Draymond Green had four points six
boards and had three assists and had Charles said triple single,
(10:17):
and Jack started dying. So yeah, I listen. I'm not
a fan. I'm not the biggest fan of Raymond Green,
but I like people who keep it real. And he's
not wrong, he's not wrong. And this is what the
product has become, and it's it's almost become unmatchable. It
really has.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Now.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
I love the playoffs. It's a different now Here's one
of the things that they talked about, which I'm all for,
which I really hate about the NBA. What is this
load management ish this crap. So imagine if you're a
father and you want to take your son or daughter.
NBA tickets are not cheap. Okay. This isn't going to
(10:58):
see your local high schoo team. Okay. So you want
to take your son and daughter, the family family of
four to an NBA game, you can only afford to
go to one NBA game. Let's just say that your
kids love the Sixers, they love the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
They love Joel Embiid. Joel Embiid who's made over one
(11:22):
hundred and twenty six and a half million dollars in
his career by not playing games, by being injured or
sitting out. He's made that much money sitting out. That's
crazy and that's what. So if you're a family of
four and you pay to go see the Philadelphia seventy
six ers who might come in to they only come
(11:44):
into Sacramento or Denver or Phoenix or Portland once a year,
and Joel mb decides to I'm not going to play tonight.
You just wasted close to one thousand dollars in terms
of tickets, concession, merch all that there is the disconnect
right then and air between the fans and the NBA
(12:04):
and no sport are more athletes play less games. And
I'm talking stars than the NBA. And I can go
through the list, Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, It's it's a
who and it's always the same. One's Paul George over
and over and over again. But I to me, you
(12:31):
get to a point where, listen, hey, NBA got their
money seventy six billion dollars TV rights agreement and they're
still waiting on the sale from the Boston Celtics, who
are in the process of being sold as we speak,
so they're gonna get more money out of that. But
as much as I want the Sonics to come back,
(12:52):
and I do want them to come back, oh, I
hope the game will be improved. Another one who's always
hurt Anthony Davis. He's acquired by the Dallas Mavericks. He
plays one game and having a great game, then in
the middle of the third quarter, gets hurt. He's out
for a month. To me, if there should be some
(13:16):
sort of refund policy, or maybe not a refund policy,
but an exchange your ticket policy. In other words, if
a family of four wants to come in and they're
dying on going to see it because they want to
see Joel mb played. He's a former MVP, right, or
let's just say the Joker Jokic, the kol Jokic, and
(13:37):
let's just say he's out. Now he's not out a lot,
but let's just say he's out. That family should be
allowed to exchange to go to see another game, and
they shouldn't be forced to go see one. If they
if they're buying a single game ticket, they shouldn't be
forced to go to see a game where they know
that the reason that they bought the ticket, Joker, Embiid,
(14:00):
Anthony Davis, Lebron Kawhi Leonard is not playing. That sucks,
and you're getting ripped off the consumer and the fan
is getting ripped off, and it should not be that way.
It should not. They need to come up with some
way to do that because listen, like I said, these tickets,
no professional sports tickets are cheap anymore, None of them,
(14:22):
but specifically the NBA, the NBA and the NFL not cheap,
and at least when you know, for the most part,
if you pay tickets. All right, let's just say next year,
the Seahawks right their schedule. I think the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers come in here next year. All right, Let's just
say somebody here is from Oklahoma and they move to
(14:47):
the PNW and they love Baker Mayfield because Baker Mayfield
won a Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma. He was a number
one pick in the NFL draft by Cleveland in twenty
seventeen and twenty eighteen. And they want to see Baker
Mayfield play. He led the NFL with the most touchdown
passes last year. You know Baker Mayfield is going to
be playing when they come into Lumenfield, the home of
(15:08):
the Twelves who play the Hawks. You know this. You
don't know that in the NBA, you know more than
likely if you purchase a ticket for the Washington Capitals
to come in and play the Kraken, you're gonna see Ovechkin.
If you're gonna same thing with the Penguins to see
Sidney Crosby or Edmonton to see Connor McDavid. You know this.
(15:29):
You don't You are playing Russian Roulette with your wallet
when you purchase a ticket to the NBA. And that
is absolute. I wish I could say it bs you
know it, and I know, and it sucks and then
you're out four figures because you know what. Joel emb
decided he just didn't feel good enough. He needs another
(15:50):
load management game. Same thing with Kawhi Leonard. I was
the biggest Kawhi Leonard fan, But dude, literally is he
and Joel Embiid are stealing a check from the LA
Clippers and the Philadelphia seventy six ers. Legally, I might add,
they're doing it because the league. And that's where Adam
Silver needs to bring back, needs to bring something David Stern.
(16:18):
Say what you want about David Stern. He was a
dictator and he ruled with an iron fist. But you
know what the players got in line. I didn't like
the players have to wear a suit when they're on
the bench or when they travel. I'm like, screw that.
Let them wear what they want to wear. If Ai,
I'm talking about Alan Iverson, not artificial intelligence. If AI
(16:40):
wanted to wear a throwback jersey, you know, wearing you know,
I don't know Wilt Chamberlain jersey.
Speaker 6 (16:47):
Let him wear.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
I didn't.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
I didn't care about that part was all immateial, I
care about what you want to see. Someone brought this
up on the Tallamar du text line, bring back hand checking.
A limit about this one. This is what they won't do.
I like the hand checking. He says, eliminate the three
point shot. No way, no way, It'll never be done.
You can't do it. You cannot do it. And I'm
(17:12):
not saying that's not an actual decent idea, But you
can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. What are
you gonna do? Now the whole game, not only the NBA,
the college game. It's played behind the perimeter. It's all
perimeter based. That's it. So you can't change it now.
It will never. It's gonna be three point or dunk.
(17:35):
That's it. That's it. You will rarely see mid range.
Damar DeRozan is a dying breed in the NBA, the
king of the mid rage jumper that normally doesn't happen anymore.
So that's it. Anyway, I said my piece on the NBA,
(17:57):
but I agree with Draymond Green. It is bolling bor ring.
And I'll tell you right now, the suits on Park Avenue,
specifically Adam Silver, they sure as hell don't appreciate that.
But Draymond Green has no filter. And that's why I
love it, and that's why he has a great podcast.
(18:18):
And I give him credit for calling out his employer.
It was awesome, all right. Mariner's spring training is in
full effect down in the Cactus League in Peoria, Arizona.
Bucky Jacobson will join US Live. Oh, Chuck is joining us. Oh,
Chuck is joining us. Okay, Chuck Powell will be joining
(18:40):
US Live. It was originally Bucky and then it was
an audible at the line of scrimmage. So Chuck Powell,
we will talk to Chuck next live from Peoria, Arizona,
to find out what's going on. As spring is eternal
in the air, the Dan Wilson era in full effect,
the first full season under one of the most beloved
(19:01):
ms of all time. We will talk to Chuck next,
MJ and the Midday KJR ninety three to three FM.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Message to our audience. You gave Safty have passed back
in the day. Now look where he's at. This is
Mark James, be kind doing me sensitive MJ in the
midday on Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R FM.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Alright, coming in live on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline right now.
You hear him every day. Chuck in Buck six to
ten KJR ninety three three FM. He's coming to you
live from may in a spring training in Peoria, Arizona.
(19:48):
Chuck Powell, Chuck first and foremost. Man, I gotta tell you,
probably the weather's a little bit better there in Uh no, no,
don't believe the hype. Okay, all right, yeah.
Speaker 7 (20:00):
Somebody and Sonny it's so overrated, very.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Passive, aggressive way of rubbing it in. I love it.
Love that, Chuck, love it. So No, seriously, You've done
this how many years over the course of the last decade?
Speaker 7 (20:18):
Oh gosh, I think I've done this well with the
exception of what the two COVID years. Okay, every year
since I came to town, So I guess eight of
the last.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Ten, Yes, the last ten. What's the overall, like just
sentiment down there, you know, Like everything else, hope springs eternal.
Every time there's a new season, everybody thinks they have
a chance at, you know, winning the World Series. But
coming off the season, we're obviously ended in such disappointment,
Chuck and having the lead for a lot of the
(20:48):
year and seeing it just dwindled down, and then the
Astros catching them and missing the wild Card by one
game versus the Tigers. What is overall? Does there seem
to be perhaps a glimmer of hope going into twenty
twenty five, despite the fact that there were no real
moves made to the batting order.
Speaker 7 (21:08):
I think there's more than a glimmer of hope. I
think that is an expectation. I do believe that they
feel that they've got a playoff caliber team, But I
will say there is a difference, Mark, I think a
year ago when we were here, and granted we haven't
had time to talk to a lot of players just yet,
but a year ago at this time, I mean, it
was a definite we're after the World Series, and that
(21:31):
mentality that we have a good enough roster to win
the World Series this year. I think maybe even if
that confidence is shared here in twenty twenty five, maybe
it's being kept down a little bit. Maybe not maybe
have last year was sort of that just, you know,
stick your chest out kind of thing. This year, maybe
(21:52):
just a little bit of a chip on the shoulder
after the disappointment, the criticism of a year ago, the
offensive defies, and then an off season in which they
weren't really the roster catered to by the front office
or ownership. So I think maybe Bucky and I are
sensing a little bit of a chip on the shoulder.
(22:12):
But my guess is that the expectation remains the same.
We believe we're a playoff caliber team with a shot
at winning the World Series if we can get invited
to the dance.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
I don't disagree. Chuck Powell here on the Beacon Plumbing
guest Line and one of the guys I was reading
about Gabe Spire seems like he got his fastball back
according to some reports out there, and have you heard
anything about him and maybe could he have a bounce
back season this year.
Speaker 7 (22:39):
It's very strange. I was not really expecting that name
to get toasted. Ryan dan Wilson does his press conference
here last week and he mentions him twice, like he
not even prompted to.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
He went right to Gabe Spier.
Speaker 7 (22:53):
We had Dan Wilson on this morning, Bucky and I
and I asked him about players that have stood out
in the first.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
Few days camp.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
It's the first guy that he mentioned. So, I mean,
we're just talking about a lefty reliever here who had
a good role with the team two years ago and
then a very disappointing season in twenty twenty four. And
yet Dan Wilson, when when pushed this early in camp,
can't help but have Gabe Spier be right on the
tip of his tongue. So he's obviously looking good, He's
(23:21):
obviously doing something right. Otherwise, I don't think Dan Wilson
has launched some sort of Gabe Spier pr firm. I
think he actually has looked that good here in the
first few days of camp.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Wow, Chuck Powell on MJ in the mid day, Mark
James here on KJR ninety three to three FM. Is
there something that you've heard down there? Okay, let's just
start with the manager, Dan Wilson, who got in had
a nice run at the end of last season I believe,
finished twenty one to thirteen after, you know, taking over
for Scott's Service. But now this is his team. This
is his first full season from day one. Okay, it's
(23:57):
his team. Do you sense that abe Scott Service's message
got lost in the clubhouse and with a new voice
there in Dan Wilson, obviously one of the most beloved Mariners,
that maybe this was the right move to make.
Speaker 7 (24:14):
Well, I think that it was. I certain. I mean,
you weren't here with us last year at the end
of the season, at the end of a very frustrating
season for all of us. But I mean, Scott Service,
one of the things that he did really well, and
there were several, but one of the things he did
really well is no matter how much the clubhouse got rocked,
and it did from time to time, there was always
(24:37):
this rowing in the same direction mentality that he was
able to sustain. Didn't matter what, there would just be
a different leader or two that would step up. And
so I think that we have to in Seattle give
him credit for that. But when and so that could
have been an issue potentially when you change managers midst
(25:00):
But Dan Wilson is so steeped in this organization, not
just as a player, but as a coach here in
spring training, hands on, a member of the organization for
so long that he's pretty beloved by all of the players.
So he had that going for him the day he
was named manager and never enterim manager mark. He was
(25:21):
named manager straight from Scott Servis, and so he already
had a lot of store credit with this roster built up.
And so Wes he starts his brand new role at
a brand new year, his first ever spring training. I'm
sure that he didn't have too much difficulty kind of
(25:41):
rallying the troops. I think that they believe in Dan,
and I think that they believe that he could be
the guy that could push them over the top.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
What about JP Crawford coming off a disappointing season last
year and could this be him getting back to the
JP Crawford that all fans here know and love.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Well, he better.
Speaker 7 (26:00):
I mean, he has to be better.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
He was terrible last year and I.
Speaker 7 (26:04):
Think when we have him on later this week, I
think he'll admit to that. He just maybe he's not
going to be the player that he was in twenty
twenty three when he had a practically a five war season.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Maybe that was an outlier.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
You know, maybe he's not that player, but he certainly
isn't as bad as what he showed a year ago.
So maybe what we have to resign ourselves too, and
he never will, but we as fans is that JP
Crumber is just a good player, just a good, solid
shortstop with a good eye at the plate. And if
he can get back to doing some of the things
(26:37):
that he did prior to last year when he acted
like he was going to hit a home run on
every pitch, that's not him.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
So hopefully some really hard.
Speaker 7 (26:45):
Lessons were learned by Jp in the offseason, and if
he can get back to being a team leader, if
he can get back to being a you know, two
fifty five, two sixty hitter with a three forty on
base and play a solid shortstop, I think that this
organization would certainly take that.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Chuck Powell from Chuck and Buck here. Obviously you hear
him every morning a six to ten KGr ninety three
to three FM. He's live from Peoria, Arizona for Mariner
spring training. Let's actually we're gonna talk about something positive here,
is that you know, one of the guys I thought
could have been on the move and a lot of
you know or you heard this name that could be
possibly traded to get his twenty four point one five
(27:25):
million dollars salary for each of the next three years
off the books. But he still hears Louis Castillo, So
you got him. Logan Gilbert, George Kirby, Bryce Miller, and
Brian wu best pitching staff, best starting rotation by far
and away in Major League Baseball, hands down, no doubt
about it. That's the good news. Those arms can get
(27:47):
this team to the postseason. And once you get into
as Bill Parcells always would call a postseason, chuck the tournament,
anything can happen. We've seen it. Why didn't Louis Castillo
get moved? Why did they retain him? I'm just I'm
glad they did, but why didn't they?
Speaker 7 (28:05):
I mean, I don't know behind the scenes. Again, I
know you're asking me to speculate, yes, but yeah, my
feeling is that they misread the market a little bit.
I think that they had a plan for improving this
offense without upsetting the starting rotation that is in the
conversation as the best in all of baseball, and certainly
(28:26):
per price point, it is the best in all of baseball.
So I think that their idea was, we can add
to the offense without subtracting from our ultimate strength.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
And then they got a little bit.
Speaker 7 (28:37):
Into the off season and obviously things Plan A didn't work,
and it doesn't feel like Plan B worked or Planned
C work. I think he said Jerry going into the
off season that Plan Z would be to trade Luis Castile.
Well guess what they got to plan Z, And I
think that they did shop him around, and then I
think that they were surprised that they weren't getting the
(28:59):
return offers that they thought he was worth. And once
you get to that point, I mean, I thought it
was a realistic possibility for a team that doesn't spend
a lot of money uh and doesn't love to trade
its prospects, that you move a twenty four million dollars
per year player for a couple of offensive pieces and
(29:20):
free ups some money. That sort of made logical sense
to me. But I think that if you believe your
player is a lot better than what the trade market
is telling you he is, then you gotta get You
got to stick with what your value.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Is on that guy. And so they keep him.
Speaker 7 (29:36):
He's part of this excellent rotation, and I think he's
going to be even better than he was a year ago.
So I'm I'm so worried Mark about the offense. I mean,
I just I'm really bothered to my core that they
didn't add to it. Nothing, but I would i'd but
the starting rotation.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I would have hated to.
Speaker 7 (29:56):
Lose lose Luis Castillo, even though I think that they
as a logical argument for having traded him. He's here,
and I'm happy that he's here. I'm happy that that
rotation is intact because it does have a chance to
be a difference maker. It does have a chance to
be special, it does have a chance to lead this
team into the playoffs and potentially beyond.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Chuck Powlell Chuck Lasko. I just want to mention Castile
actually carries a full no trade clause through the end
of twenty twenty five, meaning that he would have to
approve any deal. So that's I think good news for
Mariners fans and probably maybe one of the reasons why
he was not moved, which is good. What is worse
the Mariner's batting order or the Seahawks O line. Well,
(30:42):
there by the way I got you there, Chuck, you're like, wow, well,
we're gonna put a pull up there.
Speaker 6 (30:47):
You would, We're gonna put a pull up there, as
c K. Christopher Kidd always like we're gonna do that.
What is worse Mariner's batting order is Seahawks O line.
In your opinion, what is worse? I would have to go, wow,
you can't even. It's it's tough to even. They're both
so bad.
Speaker 7 (31:06):
Well, I think the I mean, look, there's gonna be
a lot of faith put in the fact that we
weren't wrong, we weren't that wrong about Garver and Polonko. Okay,
the fact that they were so bad, and then you
team it with three or four guys that had career
worse seasons. I mean, at this time a year ago,
(31:27):
you weren't here. But I mean, I had eighty nine
wins for this team going into the season, and.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
I was the low man at the station, oh with
my win total, And so that's so.
Speaker 7 (31:39):
Were we all became convinced that this offense was good
enough to get them into the playoffs. And then they
disappointed everybody, including themselves. Obviously, they clearly disappointed Justin and Jerry.
They did not achieve. And so a lot of those
same pieces are back this year. And so is it
gonna be a great offense?
Speaker 3 (32:01):
No chance. Is it gonna be a good offense?
Speaker 7 (32:03):
Probably not? But does it have a chance to be solid?
I'm gonna go ahead and say it does. So I'm
gonna go if they're better than the Seahawks offensive line
at this point, because I can't imagine that as many
people who had career worst years are going to replicate
that going into this year. So if they can just
(32:26):
be okay, I mean, we were terrible, as you know
offensively last year the Mariners. If they can be okay
okay offensively, is gonna be good enough with this team's pitching.
So I'm gonna say they at least have the potential
to be okay. The Seahawks offensive line is currently constructed, probably.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Not fair enough.
Speaker 8 (32:46):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
You went in in depth and detailed. Chuck Powell. Listen
to him and Chuck and Bucky every day Chuck and
Bucks six to ten right here on KGr ninety three
to three FM. And Chuck one of the things you
and I talked about in the office last week, and
I'm hoping that they will get up here sooner than later.
In and out Burger and Joyce Joyce on My Friend.
Speaker 7 (33:05):
Yeah, Bucky just added up last night.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Yeah yeah, thanks for ving.
Speaker 7 (33:08):
Us up him.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Thanks, thanks for rubbing that in. Appreciate it, Jeck, appreciate
it man, all right, Darius, Chuck and the Beacon Plumbing
guest line. Uh yeah, give me animal style extra spread
and I'm a happy, happy, happy man. All right. SNL
celebrated their fiftieth anniversary show last night. I watched it,
(33:29):
did you? And we're going to get to some things
that stood out. And I can't believe it's been fifty
years on that MJ in the Midday KJR ninety three
to three FM. All right, back on MJ in the
(33:50):
Midday KJR ninety three three FM. Oh uh and KSE
you or no? The poll is up on my Twitter
handle Mark James m a are c James. It is yeah,
it is up. I just basically put what is worse
Mariner's batting lineup, Seahawks offensive line. It's gonna be up
(34:11):
for nearly three days so far. People voted Mariners batting lineup. Oh,
sixty nine percent, thirty one percent say Seahawks offensive line.
You can check that out right there. So SNL celebrated
their fiftieth anniversary last night. I watched it the whole thing.
(34:31):
I'm not a big fan of Saren Live over the
course of the last ten years, but I watched it
because I knew the icons would be there. Eddie Murphy,
you knew, like even Chevy Chase it was on, like
the first season of Saturday Night Live was there. It
was you know, Billy Crystal was in the audience, a
(34:52):
Steve Martin. It was just a who's who of and
so it was really cool. They had They had Sabrina
Carpenter doing a duet with Paul Simon, which was crazy.
She basically threw some shade at him when he goes
I performed this on Sarah A Live in nineteen seventy six.
She goes, I wasn't born then, and she said neither
(35:14):
were my parents, which is pretty good. In other words,
like obviously there's a huge gap. I thought they did
it really well. Obviously the guy who was the creator,
Lauren Michaels, you know, did a good job. But it
was nice to see just sort of mixing the old
with the new, and you know, Pete Davidson and all that.
You know, I'm not big fan of Oh. I love
(35:36):
Keenan Thompson with Eddie Murphy, they did a couple great
segments together. I thought those two guys had a lot
of great chemistry. So that was pretty cool. It was interesting.
You pulled a clip here of what is this one
called Weekend Update, the grill You Oh Weekend Update, which
(35:57):
obviously has been hosted going back. Bill Murray was there
last night, so that was kind of interesting to see,
like all the people and unfortunately the late great Nor
McDonald no longer with us. Bill Murray was there. Phil
Hartman used to do Weekend Update as well, so it
was pretty cool. Here it is I'm going on in
(36:17):
the world.
Speaker 5 (36:17):
Right now, and here to tell us her thoughts on
all of it is the girl you wish you had
to start a conversation with that aparty.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
Hello, come, no fine thing different about me? Oh are
you pregnant?
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Wow?
Speaker 8 (36:34):
You just assume I'm pregnant just because I have a
baby inside me.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
That's misogynastic. Well, congratulations, We're so happy for you. And
it's nice a scene. Was it nice? Michael? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (36:47):
Is it nice to be on the verge of the apocaclipse.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
It's devastpacing.
Speaker 8 (36:53):
It's a constipational crisis.
Speaker 7 (36:56):
Literally for me, like driving.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
You want to bring a baby into this world? Or
should I?
Speaker 7 (37:02):
It's like cheaper in here.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
For another three and a half years. I don't think
you can do that.
Speaker 8 (37:07):
Oh oh, I guess you know more than my obgny
to a research, Michael fat, ninety percent of baby's born today.
We'll never know who your father is. My three out
of four kids got bullied and only two of them
deserve it. What And there are people in Africa.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Right now, all right? So there was a lot of that.
It was pretty cool. They had a lot of different segments.
Michael Myers was there as well. It was interesting. I
would never watch Sara live again, but for the fiftieth anniversary,
it was kind of cool to see that. It was
just very interesting to see all these If a bomb
went on last night in Studio H they're at the
(37:51):
NBC Peacock Building, we would have lost most of the
entertainment business because they were pretty much all there last
night for the Jerry Seinfeld John very interesting to see,
all right. Seahawks General manager John Schneider recently did an interview,
had a lot of interesting quotes about the Seahawks and
(38:14):
the current state of the franchise and the roster coming
up with year two and the Mike McDonald era. We
will hear that and get reaction on that. Our number
three MJ and the Midday KJR ninety three to three
at m on President's Day
