Speaker 1 (00:00):
With the Seattle Seahawks and the draft. Mike first time,
long time, But overall, on paper, nobody knows until Sundays,
nobody knows, and we won't know on this draft for
the for the next two or three years on whether
John Schneider hit home runs or struck out. So on paper,
(00:21):
that being said, what grade, if you want to give one,
do you give Schneider and the Seahawks for this draft?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
No, that's a good question, probably like a B.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
That does that feel fair?
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Hey, hey, it's your grade.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
You're the professor, so I would if it's your class,
so you Hey, I don't you know.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Listen, it's fun. I gave Hi an A and I'm
not trying to listen.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
I'm not here.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
If you listen to me a little bit, Mike and
your your bff and podcast co host Christopher Kidd will
tell you.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
I don't have a problem criticizing.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
I just feel though that they hit on really great
players in positions of need, and they did everything and
trading up in the second round to get by the way,
Sean Alexander. It's pronounced arroyo, arroyo, not ar rao yo.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
It's arroyo.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
That Alabama education is not exactly you know, it's not
exactly Ivy League. I digress overhaul. I thought they got
an A. I'm gonna give him an A and A
minus some. I just I don't know what they could
have done better than you know, I yeah, it would
have been great to see I mean, they got a Royo,
(01:33):
so that in negates Mason Taylor. Jaden Higgins would have
loved to see him, but he was gone early in
the second round, so you know, there's nothing you could
do there. You didn't have two early first round picks.
You had to middle first to middle second round picks,
not to early second round picks. So I liked an
AA minus. But your grade is your grade, listen, man,
(01:55):
why do you give him a B? Though?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
I think one of the biggest values of the draft,
beyond just acquiring guys who are basically making minimum wage
by NFL standards, is doing so positions of premium positions,
and premium position is not necessarily defined by what they
do on the field as much.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
As the top of their market.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Right. So, for instance, I think when the Raiders took
gent I to look at his contract, but I'm pretty
sure he's already paid like a top fifteen running back,
you know what I mean, So you don't really maximize
the value of getting a player of that caliber, you know,
on a rookie deal, like it's still cheap per se,
but you know, relatives to like you know, Gray's abel,
for instance, what Interior Alignment are making. He's probably well
(02:42):
outside of like the top twenty five. I would have
to guess, because Interior Alignment are making so much money.
And so I bring that up to say I would
have liked to see them maybe get some of those
other premium spots, not just because the premium, because also
they could use them, you know, receiver a little higher,
you know, like the Tory Horton hid from Colgorado State.
But there were there were some receivers I really liked
(03:03):
in this draft. There were some true cornerbacks I really
liked in this class. You know, edge rushers I really
liked in this class.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Guys that when you hit on them, you really.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Talk about maximizing the value of draft acquisition, draft resource allocation.
On top of that that just they were just good players,
you know, like the Boston College kid, he's got the
tough name, not gonna try to butcher it on education
getting called out here, But you know, there were some
corners that I liked, receivers that I liked, you know,
so that would probably be why I'm not giving it
an a. The one thing that could maybe bump the
(03:33):
grade without changing any prospects is if Nick evenori plays
corner because the more I watch him, he looks like
a snaky to me, but he felt like he could
be a good question.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
I feel like he's not the size of Jalen Ramsey,
but he's got that ability to cover like a corner.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Yes, yeah, I mean I think he's bigger than Jalen, honestly,
so bigger. I think maybe a little longer, faster Endwick three,
So yeah, just from a physical standpoint, yeah, Jalen's probably
the comp there. I think Jaalen was a little bit
more ready made to just go out there and just
press up on guys from the get go, which makes
(04:10):
sense because Jalen was a top ten pick. I mean,
Nick could be fine as a safety, and if he
is a fine safety, I think that's a good pick
and my grade wouldn't change. But I really think like
if he ends up being like a really good outside cornerback,
then you justify the trade up get someone at a premium,
because I mean, these these corners are making a bazillion
dollars right now, like a twenty million dollar corner might
(04:32):
be a top ten highest paid corner. So if you
get one of these guys for the low it's really
high value on top of getting a good player. And
that's why getting a quarterback in the draft is so important.
Jalen Milroe's total contract value is six million dollars.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
That's it, six million dollars. They're paying their backup five million.
You know.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
That shows how the quarterback process is too.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
No question about it. Which speaking of Mike two gar
from the Athletic might believe it or not. And this
shocked me. And this is one of the reasons why
I if I were the Raiders. You mentioned Ashton genty
he got the second highest. He has the second biggest
guaranteed contract next to Saquon Barkley. He got thirty two
million dollars in guaranteed money. Thirty two million in guaranteed money,
(05:18):
which is crazy. Saquon got thirty five point eight in
guaranteed money. So you know, and so if he busts,
you took him at six and you're giving him thirty
two million dollars in guaranteed money, which you cannot.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
You know that that is going to him.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
No matter what if he's the next Adrian Peterson or
he's the next Kajana Carter, He's getting that money. Thought
was a little high for a running back there to
get that kind of money.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Yeah, And I don't even think you got to look
at the worst case there if he's like Trent Richardson
or something.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Right, even if he is as good as Saquon, the
value is not there. No, that's really the point.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
It's even if they do well, the value is not there,
particularly at that position. It's not even that if they're bad.
Like if gent's the third best you're running back in
the league this year, which he very very could, very
well could be. His highlight tape when he.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Got drafted was full of Washington State in this tackles.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
I remember that game because kids incredible, Right, But even
if he is the best version of that, like, okay,
the Pro Bowl running back, we're already kind of paying
a Pro Bowl running back premium. To your point about
his guarantees relative to Saquon, not to say it's a
bad pick.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Like, ultimately, you gotta win games.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
You know, spreadsheets don't score touchdowns. But I think that
is part of the roster building process. You know. The
Seahawks know that very well. It's not just that they
built a very good team in twenty twelve, thirteen fourteen.
It's that when they won the Super Bowl, their team
was super young and super cheap. And that's how you
get the sustainability. You get an expensive roster that wins,
you're automatically having to reset the books in a year
(06:52):
or so, like we just saw the Rams do, like we're.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Seeing the Niners have to do now they didn't win
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
You know. So the draft just as much about getting
value as it is acquiring good players. Which is why
even if you have a kicker number one on your board,
he'll never be the first overall pick, right because positional
value matters. So I that's a good point about gent
And why if I was the Raiders, I probably would
have just took the tackle from Missouri.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Seriously, Arma, Membu, Yes, you and I are both on
the same page, sim Poduct, Why at six are you
giving this guy thirty two?
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Man?
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Like you said, Mike, I mean, it's like even if
he is.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
The third best running back, you're not getting the value
there where you could have, you know, and you know,
I like, listen, I'm gonna tell you in terms of value,
I'm not saying this guy is gonna be better than
Ashton genty, but you've seen this guy make a lot
of Cougars and Husky's misk was Damien Martinez the Seahawks
in the seventh round when it's two years in Corvallis
and then he did it at my school to you
(07:49):
where you're getting him in the seventh round. So it's
just basically it's all it's no risk in all reward.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
And if he doesn't make the team, it's a seventh
round pick.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I think that that's why the Day three when you
hit on a Day three guy added almost literally any
position even ricker, you know, because the pickers are people too.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
There is value there.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
You know, you hit on a Damien Martinez, you're paying
them chicken scratch right to be uh, you know, a
starting caliber running back. You know, Reeke Willand is a
great example for the Seahawks, not just because you know
he made a Pro Bowl in his rookie year, but
they have this they have this program in the NFL. Basically,
if you were depending on where you get drafted, typically
if it's later, if you perform at a certain level
(08:33):
and play a certain amount of snaps, you get a
bonus after every year as a built into the CBA.
Reeke hits the bonus every year as a fifth round
pick just by being out there. Basically, it's a reward
for outplaying your contract. You know, that's how valuable Reek is.
Dudes getting a bonus for being out there every year
because as a fifth round pick. So I think when
you hitting on those guys, Tory Wharton could be maybe
(08:54):
be that type of guy. The receiver out of Colorado State,
you know kids, hamstring fell off the bone and he
still ran or for one.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Oh by the way, that that just that just I
just got hurt when you saying that, oh bone No man.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
That's when he told us that.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
He said, uh, because you know, his pre draft reports
all said he had a knee injury, and we're all like, okay, well,
there's a lot of things that could happen to your knee, right,
you bump it on the end of the bed and
you smoked your aco, right, So he said, uh, I
tore my lcl and my hamstring, and you know that
came off the bone. Like, yo, wait a minute, how'd
you still run four four one at the combine?
Speaker 2 (09:31):
You know that's pretty impressive.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
So if he's if his medical check out, that's a
big explosive kid. He could be the next like really
good value pick. Or to your point, Damian Martinez a
guy who I really liked as an early Day three.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Guy, no question about it. Mike Dugar from The Athletic
joining us here on the show. Overall, let's in terms
of value. Okay, let's start second round. Elijah Royo and
Jalen mill wrote in the third round right then and there.
I mean, Zabel will see I you know, Chris will
tell you. I like Donovan Jackson doesn't mean Zabel can't
(10:03):
be great. I would have gone with a guy who
was forced to move to tackle when Josh Simmons got
hurt in October and didn't give up a sack the
rest of the year on their way to winning the
national title.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
That's just me. I think Zabel still could be great,
So I don't have a problem with that.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Evon worry, I think I don't see like, if you're
betting on one guy, Mike, I'm betting an eighty five
to ninety percent chance this guy is going to be
a stud. I don't see real other than you know,
some unforeseen injury. Evan Worriy is like, this dude's got
star written all over him. Let's start with Elijah Royo
and Jylen Milroe. What do you think about those two picks?
(10:39):
And like you mentioned that keyword position, those key phrase
positional value.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Yeah, just as a general rule of thumb, I'm not
huge on tight ends before like Brown three, and if
you do take one, it just means that you need
I need that guy a to be like high level
pass catcher. Don't give me the blocking guy in round
one or two. I need you to catch some passes
and score some touchdowns, and I need you to be
like a red zone demon pretty much. And so that's
(11:08):
the standard I'm holding Elijah to through no fault of
his own. He can't control where he's picked, but that's
just kind of how I'm assessing the selection. You know,
he for his credit, he is really good at catching passes.
You know, turn on his film and one of the
first things I've seen is him Brenning a corner for
a slat fade. You know, however tall he is with
with with his arm length and everything, he'll go up
(11:29):
and get the ball. You know, he had a big
jump ball touchdown I.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Think in the Senior Bowl.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
So like he he can live up to what I'm saying.
I am just bringing that up to say that is
how I am assessing the pick, particularly through the lens
of Seattle's front office, which has found starting caliber tight
ends in the fourth round with relative consistency with will Disley, Kolbe, Parkinson,
and now even aj Barner. You know, they have a
pretty strong track record that was valuing tight ends later
(11:54):
in the draft and getting good value there. So they
So I need Allijah to be much better than all
of those guys like from the almost to justify that.
Jalen's just the ultimate lottery ticket man. I think that
once you get out of the first round, if the
quarterback you select can start, you win. Like it doesn't
even matter how good he is, you know, just is
he a starter? If the answer if the box check
(12:15):
is yes, everybody gets extensions. Everybody's private school tuition is
paid for their kids by Jalen Milroe balling out and
selling jerseys and must and seats like the upside of
Jalen Milroe or any quarterback Tyler Schuck in the second round,
Dylan Gabriel in the third round, all of these guys,
if any of them hit as a starter, everybody getting
(12:35):
paid Christmas bonuses all around. So I just think that's
a worthwhile swing. I do think that Jalen has the
chance to make the Seahawks class go from good to
special because it's the best version of Jalen Milroe comes
to life.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Again.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Everybody's getting raises. That's how you get to a super Bowl.
Is a legitimate game changer, and if it's at the
quarterback position, and then yeah, that's how you get there.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
So I think that Jalen is a good pick.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
I didn't love him coming out just because he's not
super accurate and is I think overly reliant on the
run game, at least based on what I saw at Bama,
and I don't really like that didn't play on time
a lot, which you need to do in this offense.
I think it's kind of a square peg round hole
situation putting him in a Kubiak system. However, if you
(13:23):
do change the system around him, and it hits, then
you just raised the entire ceiling on the entire franchise.
So it's worth it. But there's a lot of ways
to go to get him there, because he's still really, really,
really raw, even though or he might be the best
running quarterback I've seen in college in a long long time,
probably since Lamar.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
All right, Mike du Gara, how about you know the
address needs in the sixth and seventh round on the
O line, Bryce Cable do the guard out of Kansas,
and then Mason Richmond.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Out of Iowa.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
You know the strongly, you know, likelihood of six and
seventh round picks making the team are not really high. However,
you know there's such a dire need and it's been
this way for over a decade here in Seattle. Do
you look at either one of those players or maybe
both of them and being guys that will make the
fifty three man roster.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Just generally skeptical of linemen who fall that far, because
especially if you played at like Power five schools or
Power four or whatever it is now rest in peace
to the Pac twelve. But if you play at Kansas
or Iowa, Purdue or wherever, some of these guys played
at like okay, and you got the size, Like you
have the size and you play it in the Power four.
(14:36):
Something typically is pretty wrong that you fail to the
sixth to seventh, like either you're just like the worst
athlete ever or your past protection leaves way too.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Much to be desired, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
There's just usually something wrong, something usually glaring too, So
that makes me skeptical. If I had to bet, i'd
bet on a guard over a tackle because it's just
easier to play.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Guard in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
So I'd probably bet on the kids in Kansas. I
think it's the one playing guard, so that would be
my bet. But I don't feel like, yeah, it's like
a five dollar parlay. That's not a huge confident in bet.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
I'd be making.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
There, right, five dollars parlay exactly. You're talking my language. Well, Mike,
it's interesting that you know Mini camp excuse me, Rookie
Mini camp is starting tomorrow if I'm not mistaken, So
it's gonna be going on this weekend, and then of
course all the other mandatory mini camp and OTAs and
all that stuff's gonna beginning sooner than later. So always
(15:28):
nice to catch up. Do you appreciate you making time?
Speaker 2 (15:32):
All right? Thanks for having me all right?
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Mike?
Speaker 4 (15:33):
You you too? Man, you too, Mike Tugar from the Athletic. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
I think all in all, nobody can criticize this draft.
I think everybody should feel pretty good about it. How
it plays out in the field, that's a whole another
ball of wax.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
We will get to the what do you say?
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Text of the day at four nine, four five one
next on MJ in the midday ninety three three KJRFM
from the two oh six. Couldn't respond to your belichick
probably spell that wrong voice tech, So here it is.
Wait a minute, MJ. You mean a multi millionaire is
dating a young, hot gold digger. Oh my god, that's crazy.
(16:10):
I've never heard of such a thing, MJ. I love you,
but my god, man, do you see many millionaires with
ugly chicks? You think a forty five year old hot
chick with a millionaire is with him for his personality?
Good for Bill, it's his damn do whatever you want, buddy.
If he spent every penny instead on building the largest pancake,
(16:32):
good for you, his money, his life. I'd rather ride
a twenty four year old hot woman. My age too
shocked you of all people with disparage, that must be
a personal thing with Bill. Love everything else can't dance
with you on this Jay in Bonnie Lake, and he
also followed it up with another text, So I want
(16:55):
to get this one in near two Jay's I appreciate you.
Everyone's outrages pure jail trying to mask as concerned for
Bill bs. You and no one else care about Bill's
personal life. Come on, man, no Bill can do what
he has to do. She's making him look like a fool,
That's all I'm saying. Yes, a lot of his money
is is obviously being transferred.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
And let me tell you something. If they get married,
guess what.
Speaker 6 (17:21):
Happens, kid, That will's gonna be changed. I'm gonna tell
you she's gonna be getting the majority of that inheritance,
my friend, right, I mean, I tell.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
You it's it's undefeated, like the seventy two Dolphins. It
is always undefeated.
Speaker 7 (17:41):
This is from the two five three MJ.
Speaker 8 (17:44):
How was it with you, lady friend at the ballpark yesterday?
Speaker 7 (17:48):
Will there be a second date?
Speaker 4 (17:50):
It will be.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
We had a great time and we walked. We had
great seats one twenty four, and I said, you know what,
like this is like I want to get.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
There's a beautiful day. It's been beautiful.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
And see today's and tomorrow are gonna be the nicest days.
It's gonna be seventy five today, seventy one tomorrow. We
went out to the T Mobile Pen for the final
six innings. The final five innings, we were out in
the center with all the you know, I wasn't drinking.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
She wasn't either.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
I was eating not to be confused with deep softy
mall or one of those mister Softy soft surt of
ice creams, the Vanilla's Chocolate swirl. Yeah, I was eating
one of those and we enjoyed it. Man, it was
a great time. What a great day. Love T Mobile Park.
Just one suggestion here we go, we gotta get some
(18:37):
of those. They make these, and they had these at
Tropic Caana Field. And believe me, I know, I know,
Tropic Cana Field rest in peace. It's done now thanks
to Hurricane Milton or Alean whatever, which one I don't
even remember.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
They used to serve. They would make them hot hot cashwes. Oh.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
I missed them so much much let's get some hot
cash shoes out in t Mobile Park. A lot of
great concessions. By the way, Chris, here's a major pass
for me. Garlic fries. We can smell them a mile away.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
They're no.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
I can't try him because they smell so much.
Speaker 7 (19:16):
It's what's wrong with the smells? You don't like garlic?
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Oh, darley bread maybe, but not fries.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (19:22):
It's so good. A makes your breathstink, but it's really good.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Oh, my guy, I know him very well. He just
got he just got replaced. James Jones Phoenix Suns GM fired.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
Oh wow.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Was at the Helm for six years. He went to
the U and they promoted Brian Gregory. You knew that
was gonna happen. ISHBIA didn't hire him when he took
over the team. They fell flat in its face. When
Bunenholzer got fired. You knew that James Jones was not fine.
He'll get a job somewhere else. He'll get a job
somewhere else.
Speaker 7 (19:53):
I think, so right.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Yeah, he's good.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
He's good. He's really good. Who knows, Maybe it'll be
the future GM.
Speaker 8 (19:58):
In the Sonics we he talked about the physicality in
the NBA and how it might be becoming a problem.
In a texture sent in from the two Oho six.
We like competitive physicality, but not malicious physicality.
Speaker 7 (20:13):
I think that's perfectly said.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
God, you guys, man, you have no idea what you're missing.
The nineties were amazing.
Speaker 8 (20:20):
It was just it was just I don't know if
seventy to seventy three is amazing, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
Well, I agree, I'm not gonna live there.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
We're not getting buckets.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
No, I agree here, But like, it was just flagrant
in every way, shape.
Speaker 8 (20:35):
And fit, And there wasn't a ten minute break to
check to see if it was a flagrant one or two?
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Right right?
Speaker 8 (20:40):
Yeah, if anything, I would like him to do away
with that. Yeah, it shouldn't take eight minutes to figure out.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Like I was watching the Bad Boys documentary the other day,
and so lambier went after Bird. So Robert Parrish had
the receipt to answer for what Lambierd did to Bird
in the following game. He just literally was on top
of Beer punching him as he's going down.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
He's got a common foul. He didn't even get of
the game.
Speaker 7 (21:06):
But see that, Yeah, yep, We'll just leave it at that.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
It was unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
With the first pick of the NBA Draft of the
two oh six, the Seattle Sonic Super Songs trade their
first pick to Portland for Kevin Collabro and other news.
The Sonic signed Kevin Durant to a one day contract.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Now you know.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
How I feel about one day contracts, the same way
I feel about helmet condoms. However, I think that would
be so freaking cool. If Kevin Durant came back here,
I would be all for it. I'd be there, I'd
be clapping. I'd be for that just because of what
(21:43):
happened to this great, amazing city. For him to come
back and retires a Sonic, I'm all in. I'd be
wearing a thirty five jersey. Dude thirty five seriously from
his rookie year. I'd be there so that I would
allow there's exception to every rule.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
That exception would be to the rule for me.
Speaker 8 (22:04):
From the two O six, the second best time of
the year. When Lebron is eliminated from the playoffs, he
is two and twelve in the last three appearances in
the postseason.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Yes, he is h two O six.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Someone asked us yesterday, MJ, did your lady ask for
the seats?
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Were not at all?
Speaker 7 (22:22):
Shout out Travis. That's Travis right there, that's Travis.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Travis. No, no, she did not. No, no, no, she's
you know, she's not your nudson. Okay, she's not. You know,
she's just not. I'm sorry, and I'm not Belichick. I
all one, hundreds and millions of dollars.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
So it is what it is, and what are you
gonna do?
Speaker 8 (22:38):
You know from the two five to three, there is
zero chance I'm paying anyone for Italian food.
Speaker 7 (22:46):
MJ.
Speaker 8 (22:46):
Come to my house, my wife spaghetti, lasagna and man,
how do you say it?
Speaker 7 (22:52):
Manicotti?
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Yeah, Manicatti will poop on any restaurants. Oh, well, don't
if it's great, don't see. Oh, I see what you're saying,
but you see it blows. Don't say poop because you
don't want when you think about putting something in your mouth,
I don't want poop.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
I get what he means, but.
Speaker 7 (23:05):
I can't say that over the year.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Yeah, you know what I mean. I got it.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
Hey, uh, Kathleen, I'm growing on Kathleen. She said today
you and I had a great segment I did not
interrupt you, and I.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
That's just smart from the East coast.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
She came a long way in her eyes and she said,
a little buck kissing will on my way will work
hurt you. I was driving. All I asked, is you
not be so mean? Gotta love a good smart ass,
but not a mean smart ass. Today's personality today has
been good. Keep it up, Kathleen. Do you have no
idea how much that means to me? No idea how
(23:43):
much that means to me.
Speaker 7 (23:46):
So there's that from the two five three. The last
one for me.
Speaker 8 (23:50):
The best day of the year is the Oklahoma City
Thunder elimination day. Whenever that will be, I don't know
if the I don't it might be the finals when
they get eliminated.
Speaker 7 (23:59):
If they do so, we'll see.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
By the way, I wouldn't hold your breath because they
may never get eliminated in these playoffs. I'm telling you
right now, man, you do no way. Also, Durant from
two five to three, this just came in. Duran is
a bomb. I'm a diehard Sonics fan. I want nothing
to do with him, and I'm not alone. A lot
of Sonics fans are over him. What did he do
so bad that you're.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
So mean to Duran. He wanted to stay here.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
He was like at the end when the fans were cheering,
you know, and all this stuff.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
He was getting the.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Fans into it.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
He didn't want to leave Seattle. You think he wanted
to go to Oklahoma City for Seattle. I guarantee you
Russell didn't either, and neither did Harden. You know, like
they didn't want to go to okc ok See Seattle, Like,
come on, man, this from Jeff in the three six oh.
Dylan Brooks has been a dirty punk since his days
at Oregon. Remember after an NCAA tournament game, would Oregon
(24:54):
be duked? A coach K like lectured him? And then
I gotta admit, can I just tell you right now,
kudos to Dana Altman for not doing anything, because if
I was Dana Altman, you know what iway said. F you,
coach K, that's my player. You don't lecture him. You
don't tell my player what to do. That you worry
about your players that we just eliminated. Don't tell my
(25:16):
player what to do. Dylan Brooks is dirty. I will
tell you this though. Steph Curry's right thumb is all
jacked up. It looks like it went through a meat grinder.
And Dylan Brooks came out and said, you know what,
if if I'm hurt, I would expect him to go
after my weakness. I don't have a problem to do it.
Just you can't be someone who's gonna like, you know,
(25:39):
pull a.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
What was the dude who did that to Kawhi that
hurt him when he was Golden State?
Speaker 7 (25:44):
Petulia?
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Yeah, Zaza Petulia.
Speaker 8 (25:48):
Yes, Okay, there's one moment I gotta read yeah, and
then I'm done. Six one nine as a woman who
worked in sports for Monday Night Football ESPN, NBCCBS and
has seen a lot, and who has a daughter. Let's
be honest, no parent will want this for her daughter.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
It's sick now, she referring to Jordan Hudson. Okay, yep,
she is. You knew it?
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Yeah, but you know what though, the only thing I
will say, you're right, she's not wrong. Oh let me
just tell you this too. Well, actually, no, keep the
music going. Let me tell you something. The apple didn't
fall far from the tree.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
You ready for this?
Speaker 1 (26:25):
About Jeorde Hudson, she was raised in Hancock, Maine to
parents who ran a fishing business that went bankrupt after
their fishing grounds were closed in two thousand. Her mother
eventually moved to Provincetown on Cape Cod, where she manages
a sex toy shop and museum. Well the apple didn't
fall far from that tree, did it not. But she
went all in. I'll tell you this man, she saw
(26:47):
an opportunity. I will give her credit. She like, she's
the most dedicated gold digger in the world. So and
it's gotten her eight million dollars of real estate property
she did not have before she started sleeping with Bill Belichick,
So kudos to her.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
I don't know that's it. Oh, the new host is cringe.
Who cares about Bill Belichick's girlfriend.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
He can date and bleep and marry wherever he wants.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
It's a free country. She's an adult. You don't discuss
an athlete's girlfriend or wife. Well, actually you do.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
When CBS World News puts him on and she keeps
interrupting the interview. And she's the one making the greatest
coach in football history look like an absolute total joke.
Fool and a word that rhymes with duck that begins
with a C. So you do and trust me don't
(27:46):
think she doesn't have a backup quarterback on her sideline
waiting in the wings. Bill will get Bill will get
the Bill thing will get real old, older than seventy
three than he already is, and she'll move on. She'll
move on to someone younger, hotter, richer. Believe me, she
is as transparent as a crackhead.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
She just is what she is. And that's the what
you say text with the Text of the Day.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Didn't expect to go on a rant, but I will
tell you Jordan Hudson triggers me. She really does, because
you can see it happening. And she let me just
tell you this. He's joined a cult. It's the Jordan
Hudson cult, and she has him brainwashed. And you know
you've watched enough Netflix documentaries.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
I certainly have.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
When you're in a cult, you don't realize you're in
a cult. You don't know that you're in a cult.
You think it's a self improvement group. He is in
a cult. It's the cult of Jordan Hudson. And I
hope you're having the time of your life. So there's that.
That's the what do you say? Text of the Day.
Greg Bell met him last week at Virginia Mates and
Athletics Center. He's filling in for the mayor of Maple Valley,
(28:52):
Ian Ferns. We will talk to him next right here
on crosstalk on MJ in the midday. I met him
(29:17):
for the first time last week at Draft night at
the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, and I still to this day,
you know, not as much as the first a couple months,
but we still get to where's Greg Bell. You wish
Greg Bell was there? Well, he's here right now. So
you get careful what you wish for it, because you
got it. So now we're talking Greg Bell. We met
(29:39):
last week. Just great guy introduced himself. So Greg, it's
good to talk to you for the second time, but
the first time on the air, but the second time
since we met last week and filling in for the
mayor there at Virginia Mason Athletics Center.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
What's going on there today?
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Yeah, I'm Mark, but we did meet. Yeah, first time
we met. That's my wife, by the way, in different
text aliases it all the time.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Oh oh, if I was gonna say yes, it sounds wow.
Well your wife sounds a lot like Jessamine McIntyre. That
would be number two, right, that's right. So uh hey, hey,
by the way, how about this one? Justice is for
you and me? A little self serving here Today's Thursday,
May First, the fifty one a year million dollar man
(30:28):
hit his first home run at home. Juan Soto finally
a month into the season, hit his first home run
at City Field.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
You know what we'd like to say, he was due?
Speaker 4 (30:40):
Uh ye think, yeah, you think exactly.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
So.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Uh hey, Craig, now you could really are they Are
you going to get that spread?
Speaker 4 (30:52):
That was epic that we got, Okay, because.
Speaker 5 (30:54):
I just to impress the movies and the people who
come once a year.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
No, okay, well they did, they did, they did, Okay,
they definitely impressed me. I was impressed with the Albany's
gummy bears at the door.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
For those that don't know, the only time that we
are given access to the second floor of the Virginia
Mason Athletics Centers during the draft, right down the hall
from where the draft decision making is done with John
Schneider and Mike McDonald and we are that's the only
time we're in the dining room, which is a vaunted
dining room across the league. You talked to veterans and
free agents and people who come sign. They talk a
lot about the chefs, the food, the view of the
(31:29):
picture windows floor to ceiling of Lake Washington on the
second floor. But yeah, that's our only time in there, man,
first floor.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
I see, well, I will tell you I like to
meet the real people. And I met one of the
chefs last week. He couldn't been nicer, Maurice. And Maurice,
I asked him. I said, Hey, where'd all the ice
cream go? I saw people eat ice cream. He's like, hey, Stany,
it's just stay here for a minute. He comes out
gives me two those blue Bunny vanilla ice cream cups.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
I said, oh, Maurice, I hugged him. I'm like, thank
you so much. I don't know why.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
We just had in that moment, craving ice cream. Good man,
very very good man. So what we got in store today?
On The Ian for Nesh Show starring Greg Bell, live
from the Virginia Mason Athletics Center, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Thank you, pin shitting. The rookies are in. They're in
town now. They arrived today. In the last couple of days.
Gray's Abel is going to be a three thirty press
conference here at the Virginia Mason Netflix and the first
round pick, the presumptive starting left guard. And then Friday,
Saturday and Sunday they'll be on the field practicing. The
open to the media portions are Friday and Saturday, and
(32:34):
we'll talk to him. I'm sure Jalen Milroe will get
his first impression of what he looks like throwing in
T shirts and shorts. Not a lot of heavy lifting
going on this weekend. This is half the people on
the field aren't even gonna be on the team, so
they don't even install much of the playbook yet.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
But the veterans are here too.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
It is the second week of the veterans offseason workout
program and then they will come in. Tomorrow is the
second end of the second week. It's all conditioning. Just
can't be on the field with them yet. But there
is a passing of the young and the old and
the new and the old here this week, we're gonna
talk some baseball right off the top of your first
place team. You know, Sarah's the baseball right it for
(33:13):
the athletic joins Us, joins Ian and jessemn Every week
at this time and go and join us at one thirty.
Talk about the first place team. It's won seven consecutive
series and Mark before you got here, the team couldn't
hit for about six years.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
No, No, I hey from Afar, I've watched, I listened. Hey, Greg,
they're the only team in the wild Card Era to
blow a ten game lead in division and not make
the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
You're well aware of that. Wow through that?
Speaker 1 (33:41):
I mean, Greg, how how unlikely? I was just saying
we were up against it. I mean, you're gonna be
coming on that. So I just went I didn't have
the semi Bengo card of the lineup, not the starting pitching,
but the lineup coming through. Didn't have that one on
the Bengo Carlo.
Speaker 5 (33:55):
Is you know, hey alone it startled you. And then
Williamson at third base and how he's emerged and forced
into action. Plank was supposed to be a third basement.
All of a sudden, people forget that. Now Pluck was
plugging and hitting and everything he's.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
Doing out of nowhere. That's amazing.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
Absolutely had to know. Two o'clock we're gonna talk Corbyn
Smith calling him mine on the beat for the Seahawks
about what we did last week at the draft, what
the Seahawks did. I'm gonna talk about how this is
Baltimore Ravens West. It took about a year, and I'll
explain why it took a year. But Mike McDonald's personnel
moves are really showing through now. And there's three in
particular from last weekend we'll talk about. We'll get your
(34:32):
text and tell them we'll do text line four nine,
four to five.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
By the way, hold on, let me just say this. No, no, no, no,
just regular text line.
Speaker 7 (34:38):
No free agent. Yes, it's a we call it the
free agent. Thank you all that. It's text time. It's
your time.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
Oh, let's put a sandwich board out on four o five.
Speaker 7 (34:51):
And say hey, that's don't have me with a good time, right, that's.
Speaker 5 (34:55):
You Mark, all right?
Speaker 4 (34:56):
Hey Greg?
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Good goods forward to look forward to listening to you
on the way home, and stay tuned for him next
and then Softy and Dick from three.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
By the way, hey Greg, please just do this for me.
Can you ask you for one question, one favor? Make
sure on crosstalk you you just say, hey, Dick Fane,
I know we're not near, but I've got a box
of tissues for.
Speaker 9 (35:16):
You that Lebron is gone after the first round. Just
let Dick Faye know that, yes, two and fourteen, two
and twelve is last fourteen playoff games.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
My oh my, oh boy.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Can't you can manufacture your son getting a roster spot,
but you can't advance to the second round unless you
do it on merit.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Just let Dick Fane tell him.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
I said that.
Speaker 7 (35:42):
I think it might happen during cross tack.
Speaker 8 (35:44):
I will just say the NBA really tried hard to
make that happen with that blockbuster trade that happened earlier
this year with Luca and Anthony Davis.
Speaker 5 (35:53):
Guess what they taketh They might give.
Speaker 7 (35:56):
It, but they take it there they do.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Yeah, that's how I feel about that, I know.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
All right, Hey, Greg, look forward to hearing you and
Jess come next. All right, and we will see you tomorrow.
Right here, thanks again at PJ. Carless and Mike Dugar,
Christopher Kidd right here on MJ in the Miday ninety
