Speaker 1 (00:00):
Where do you rank the Seahawks offseason right now the
totality of everything amongst the other thirty one teams in
the league.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah, in terms of the change, it's going to be
near the top, because it's unusual to have a good
quarterback and then choose to replace him without having like
a high draft pick. Right It wasn't like they had
the number one pick and hey, we're going to take
this guy and move on. I think right there, that
is a differentiating move. How many teams did that this offseason?
(00:30):
Had a quarterback that people thought was good under contract
and decided, you know, we'll just trade them out, and
then beyond that, we'll do that with you know, somebody
who has perceived, in at least the last couple of
years to be the number one receiver who's kind of
in his prime. Those are different types of moves than
other teams make.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
It is, and not all that being said to Mike
is you look at that, and then they made other additions.
You know, you bring and see him Donald, you bring
in Cooper Cup, Marcus Valdez Scantling to Marcus Laurence. So
it just it seems like where the Seahawks are resetting
they don't like to say the word rebuild in Renton.
They they do not like to say a word, so
(01:11):
they're not real and I don't think they are rebuilding
in They want to win right away. Clint Kubiak comes in,
replaces Ryan Grubb as the OC. And now this is
truly Mike McDonald's team the way he wants it to be.
That outside zone running scheme. How do you think that
affects and maybe helps a guy like Sam Darnold who's
coming off his best season and really, let's be frank,
(01:34):
his only really great season.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah, And it's not just the outside run scheme. It's
the team wants to run the ball now, and I
think that is the main thing that a lot of
coaches and especially defensive coaches want to have it. It
makes it way easier on the quarterback if you're able
to run the ball effectively. Last year, I don't know
if the Seahawks tried enough. They were such such geared
towards the pass, with their shotgun formations, their five man
(01:59):
protection that you never got the feeling that, hey, running
the ball was a big priority and how they wanted
to win. So we saw flashes. I think the game
at Arizona, they had a nice offense and were balanced.
But that's really what this is about, and that is
huge for any quarterback who's not Dan Marino, right. I mean,
you don't want to have a guy dropping back to
(02:20):
pass all the time, making your offensive line look, you know,
worse than it is in protection and putting it all
on the quarterback shoulders when you don't have to. So
this is a team now that you know it probably
has a top ten defense. I think they finished in
the top ten last year. That maybe they think they're
going to be top five this year and run the ball,
pick your spots. It's the quarterbacks still going to have
(02:42):
to make some plays, but maybe, you know, maybe you
reduce the sacks. I think that was an interesting thing
last year. Derek carr sak rate in New Orleans when
he was with Kubiak was way low, you know, even
for him. So I think they think they can make
their personnel darnold offensive line look a little bit better
by reducing the degree of difficulty from play to play
(03:04):
on the offense.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Mike Sando from the Athletic here on MJ in the midday,
that's something that, Yeah, it's been a very interesting in
terms of free agency and trading DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh
getting an extra second round pick which they used to
move up in the draft to get Nick Emm and
Wory out of South Carolina. When you look at the
(03:27):
draft and you look at Gray Zabel, nick Emm and Worry,
Elijah Arroyo, Jalen Milroe overall, and it's gotten a lot
of rave reviews amongst the top three, and some they
have even ranked it maybe number one. Where would you
rank what John Schneider did in the draft?
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Well, I mean, shoot, no one knows on draft day
you sure how good they're going to be. But I
think you liked what they did and that they had.
I think they had four of the top ninety two
picks in the end, so you're gonna it should look better.
I think, you know, the it was nice for them
to do something that seemed logical, right with Gray's Abel.
I mean, you get an offensive lineman, a guard that
(04:05):
seemed like something they needed. I think that's better than
trying to explain why you took something else that didn't
make any sense. Right, So I think there was a
I think the draft made sense. Now, The interesting part
to me was that nine out of eleven players were
on offense, and I think that probably just fell that
way a little bit, But it also shows they're confident
with Mike McGill's got going on the defense. They think
(04:27):
the defense is good already and they felt comfortable then
just really addressing that offensive side, which is where the
makeover's been. You know, everything on the with the quarterback,
the coordinator and DK Metcalf. That's a lot of a
retool on that side of the ball. So I think
(04:47):
this draft really played into that, amplified that for Seattle.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Mike Sando from the Athletic here on MJ in the
midday on the Beacon Plumbing hotline, Mike, what if and
I'm just throwing this out there and worst case scenario,
I think I like the Sam Donald thing more and
more just because I think in this offense, it gives
him a position, it gives him a higher probability of succeeding.
(05:15):
He's not gonna have the weapons he had in Minnesota
with Justin Jefferson and Addison and howkinson that being said,
if it's more reliant on the running game, I think
it's gonna help him out. But let's just say Sam
Darnold turns back into Jets Donald. If that happens, does
(05:36):
that perhaps expedite the what a lot of people one
day want to see the freakish athletic behavior of a
guy like Jalen Milroe, who, although has got all the
athletic tools of Lamar Jackson, had five touchdowns in ten
picks in SEC play last year, so he has not
(05:56):
thrown the ball well accurately and more of a project
from that standpoint, which you'll look at in short goal
situations and you know, third and one, fourth and one
in goal line situations. Or do you think this just
kind of speeds it up of him maybe eventually taking
over as the primary signal caller.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah, it just depends on his development. I think for sure,
if Donald were to have a bad year, they're gonna
they're going to go to somebody else, and that Milroe
will be a consideration based on, you know, whether he's
come along and improved. So if that happens in the
first six games of the season, I mean, he's probably
not going to be ready. But you could see a
scenario where maybe Donald's not just horrific this year, but
(06:37):
it's just okay and now you've got a decision to
make the next year of Okay, are we bringing in
an utter veteran, are we drafting somebody, what's the status
of our team, who's available? Those sorts of things. But
I think you drafted on with Milroe hoping you can,
hoping they can develop some as a passer and that
(06:58):
you can also help them in your scheme, which this
scheme does, you know, highlight some of the quarterback movement,
movement with the naked bootlegs and some of those things
that somebody like a mill Roe could do.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Well.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
It could limit your offense in some other ways too,
in terms of the drop back pass game. But you know,
they've got a defensive coach now and they maybe more
will remember, you know, they he came from Mike mcgdonald,
came from Baltimore. He's been in Michigan. Run the ball,
play defense, right quarterback, not drop him back to pass
all the time. So you could see a world where Milroe,
with just a little bit more development and as a passer,
(07:31):
maybe he maybe he could be somebody for them.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yeah, Mike, what do you rank the Seahawks amongst the
other teams in the in the NFC West, Right? Now
with the Rams, Cardinals and forty nine ers.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, I think they're you know, I think you probably
put him a you know, in the mix to be with.
I think they're above Arizona and I have a hard time.
It's probably the Rams are probably the best team in
the vision right now, and then you would have the
(08:04):
you know, you probably have to give the forty nine
ers some benefit of the doubt. But I think Seattle's
right there and probably ascending. We'll see what the forty
nine ers do this year. I think they do have
some question marks, but I do think they're good, and
I think they'll be better than they were last year
and could have sort of a similar record a Seattle.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
What do you think the national perspective is from the
outside looking in, since you know, you can kind of
give us that here, I've only been here three months myself.
Of the Seattle Seahawks a team who's you know, won
a Super Bowl, albeit twelve years ago now, and it's
you know, it's been a long time since Super Bowl
forty eight. So what overall do you what do you
think just the what is the perspective of the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
That it is more rebuilding probably from Afar just because
interesting turning over the quarterback or you know that it's
a little bit more of a retooling. I think it
was interesting. Like if you look at the Super Bowl
odds that came out after, you know, after the draft,
did you see that, it was like the Seattle was
down there.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Quite they were.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
They're actually lost in the in the division to win
the division.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
They were last month. I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah, so that's the out that's really the outside perception
I think of them. I mean, the forty nine ers
are thirteen to one for the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Fortys are thirteen to thirty.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Thirteen to one, depending on where you look at it. Yeah,
you rams are twenty to one. You know, the Seahawks
are sixty to one. In Arizona's fifty to one. So
I guess, you know, the objective is that their last
I think they're a little better than that. I think
that they have they may they'll probably have the best
defense in the division, and then I think offensively they'll
probably be middle of the pack. So you know, do
(09:44):
I think that you know, I think Arizona could be
a little better than that offensively, but not as good defensively,
you know, in the forty nine ers, if they're healthy,
you know, could be really good offense and just good
enough on defense.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah, Mike Sando joining us here from the Athletic Are
today and again when Neil we don't know until we
get to Sunday. Do you think, though, the Seattle Seahawks
are a better football team with Sam Donald and Gino
Smith and why or why not?
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Yeah? I can't say that right now. I mean, I
just don't think Donald's has proven. I understand what they're doing.
It's cheaper, they didn't want to, you know, and they
wanted to change their style of play on offense. I
think the style of play on offense is going to
be better, and that may make them, you know, better
in some ways. But but there's a lot more volatility
with Sam Darnold. He just hasn't played well enough as much.
(10:40):
He's shown the flashes, and so they're banking on this
scheme to help get some consistency out of him. He
was consistent last year, but we saw the last couple
of games, you know, when it went the other way
for him. It was difficult. So I don't think you
can I understand the bet they're making I just don't
think you can declare that.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah, And I think there was a lot of skepticism
and justifiable. So, I mean, Sam Darnold only had one
good season in Minnesota and that was it. And you know,
we know how the last two games went, and I
think he lost a lot of money there, Mike, did
he not? I mean you look at those games against
Detroit and then you know, and then the playoff game
that they he lost a lot of money in those
(11:19):
two games, and one of them I wouldn't say necessarily
was his fault, but then he looked you know, he
did not look great in the playoffs as well.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Yeah, when the pass rushers around him, I mean, he
kind of melted down. So you know they're going to
try to keep him out of those situations. But there
will be games. There will be games like that just
happens in the NFL. You hope they're not in the
big spots. So you know, if he can rise above
that this time a little more experience, I mean, then
they've got something. But I don't know that he's shown
that in those spots.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
What did you think overall when you were watching the draft, Mike,
that the whole absolute fall from grace, if you will,
of shduor Sanders, going from a guy who was projected
to be in the first round. Some draft experts, and
I use the word experts quite loosely had him in
the top ten. One of them even had him in
(12:08):
the top three. Him falling all the way to the
fifth round. Some people have speculated it could have been
due to some sort of collusion and then just basically
all getting together or do you think this is just
basically an indictment of Shadoor Sanders is nothing more than
a backup quarterback that was drafted where he should have been.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
No, I think people, I think people in the league
most thought he was probably more like a second round pick.
But what happens at the quarterback position is, you know,
if you're not taken in the first round, then even
if there's a second round, great on you. Not everyone's
taking a quarterback, and so then did you take Then
you start getting well, he's going to be a backup.
Yet he sort of you know, shows up into camp
(12:48):
in a limousine, right, and he has a starter kind
of persona to him. So then teams are like, well,
do we want that in our quarterback room, right, you know,
and so I think that's how you can fall so
far without collusion at all. And the teams aren't getting
together on that. I mean, you know, it just got
to once you're out of once you're out of the
(13:11):
first round, there's only so many teams taken one, and
they don't want that in their in their back in
their backup. Now Cleveland saw the quote unquote value, yeah,
and did it. But now they've got an interesting quarterback situation.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
No question, Mike, listen, appreciate the time, look forward to uh,
you know who knows. Pretty soon May we'll turn into
September and we'll be talking about the schedule, which, by
the way, comes out officially, even though there's been some
leaks already surprise, surprise, but the the league wide schedule
for all thirty two teams comes out next Wednesday night.
(13:46):
So we'll look forward to that and everybody can play,
you know, over under game and how many teams games
their teams will win, and whether or not they should
start to buy Super Bowl tickets for New Orleans next year.
So it's the NFL never stops. My it never stops.
I appreciate the time.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Hey, thank you, appreciate it all right.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Mike Sando from the Athletic It is tough to say
in terms of.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
What's gonna happen, you know, I like Pee.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
I just wanted to say, do you think he didn't
mention one thing though about Sam Darnold. He says he
thinks the offense will be better, which means that it'll
be better for Sam Darnald, which means it'll be better
for the Seahawks. And that part I agree with. That
you're gonna have a running game now that they're gonna
go to and listen, I mean, they're gonna be guys.
(14:37):
We talk about the June first cuts. There's a lot
of guys that are gonna be cut. Jadaveon Clowney was
cut today, not and I think he's washed. But there's
gonna be a lot of guys cut. And I wouldn't
be surprised if the Hawks look at maybe getting another
guy on the cheap who's gonna be released at the
running back position. Maybe they're not completely to totally happy
(15:01):
with that running back room, or maybe they just want
to add depth, which is what the best teams do.
The Eagles, they want to keep this thing going. They're
gonna add depth, So appreciate him joining us. And yes,
what's next in the National Football League? And what do
we have to look forward to? We'll get to that
(15:22):
coming up right here on MJ in the midday, ninety
three to three KJR. The Pittsburgh Steelers. So now Pickens
will be lined up across the way from ceedee lamb.
Very interesting, not gonna lie. Steelers now very thin at
(15:42):
receiver other than DK Metcalf. They don't have another guy
other than Calvin Austin, which you probably you know, would
have to to google and who, Yeah, Calvin Austin. So
all in all, right, now, I wonder, and I'm sure
for a DK Metcalf he wanted to get paid. He
(16:05):
got what he wanted. The Seahawks facilitated it. They were
able to get a number two for him. But I
wonder now and until or unless Aaron Rodgers decides to
that he wants to play football again, you know, the
thing that's made him a lot of money and fame
and the thing that will ultimately get him inducted into
(16:28):
Canton one day. I don't know what's taking so long.
I understand, waiting until the draft was over to make
sure that they don't. I mean, they took Will Howard
in the sixth round, So that's not a guy that's
gonna be taking Aaron Rodgers job. So what is the
issue holding that up right now in Pittsford? Because I
(16:48):
think Aaron Rodgers comes there, then all of a sudden,
all right, things get interesting. They're still gonna need more
weapons at receiver. They've got a great defense. Thankfully, unlike
a certain sports talk host, they didn't trade Watten two
first rounders to move up to take Shadu or Sanders.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
They didn't do that.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Okay, great now, All in all, I'm scoping the landscape
of the National Football League right now, and I'm comparing
and contrasting the Seahawks' chance to be able to get
(17:25):
to the postseason. And as I compare and contrast and
juxtapose them to all the teams first and foremost in
the division, Rams, Niners, Cardinals, I like where the Hawks are.
I like the fact that five games, including as Christopher
kid broke yesterday against the Titans and the Saints, two
(17:48):
rookie quarterbacks to start the year. I mean, I don't
care if you turn the bald over three times. You
should not lose to a rookie quarterback and their first
start or their second start in the.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
League, that should be two to zero.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
It's all in all I tell you right now, this
team we're gonna find out, and you know, it's something
I wish we could just speed up until the training
camp in preseason so we could get to a point where,
all right now we can compare and contrast after all
the post June first cuts, and then there's gonna be
cuts in training camp as well, where this team and
(18:28):
how they stack up. And I can't wait more than anything.
I know Mike McDonald's defense is gonna be top five
in the league. I'm interested in this offense and what
it's gonna look like. That's the most intriguing thing. And
Mike Sando and I were talking about that from the
Athletic and Christopher Kidd.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
It's like the first two games.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
And I'm not just saying this is a sports talk
coast to try to drum up interest or whatever. If
you can't, if you lose one of those first two games,
I feel that that's a bad precedent for the rest
of the season. You cannot lose those two games. It's
like having home court advantage in a playoffs and losing
(19:12):
the first two games at home. One of them's on
the road against a rookie and the other is at
home against a rookie. You can't lose those two games.
You start off two and zero. Now, granted you got
fifteen more to go, but it gives you in the
right spot in moving in the right direction, so you
get ready for what counts the most divisional play one.
(19:37):
So what's the thing that concerns you the most?
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Right now?
Speaker 5 (19:42):
Everything arounds him?
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Uh so you're not as worried about him than you
are around him.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
Well, no, because he's a good football player. I think
we can all agree to that. But when you don't
build a successful thing around him, it's it could look
bad and then you're like, well he's not good. Well,
it helps when you have he's not exactly right.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
No, I think we all know that as just not no, no, no,
or Josh Rosen no better, He's just not good enough.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
It just didn't work out. He's not any of those guys. Absolutely,
But if you have a competent and I mean competent.
Last season, that offensive line was not competent. That offensive
line was a mess, and when that was the last
time it was competent two thousand. That twenty twenty season
when they beat the Eagles, I think that was and
DK went crazy. I think he had like nine ketchup
(20:27):
for one sixty. But anyway, that was that was a
competent offensive line. Okay, cool, they can work with that.
They got beat by the Niners, but the nine have
a rolling so if they can get to a competent
old line, I think Sam will be fine. But that's
where my concern is. Every year, Oh the offensive line's better.
All signs are pointing that they go and get grays
Abel who was.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
And by the way, let's just assume right then and
there he's he's and I think he's.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Gonna be fine. So I think Gray's Abel. Check.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
Okay, what about the other two parts of the either
the center and the other guard or I need that's
the thing that can.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Blu Is is good. I think he can get better, obviously.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
But I'm not.
Speaker 6 (21:05):
But I'm talking about the guys they drafted. I you
rely on, I'm not. I'm not banking on them. No
Cable dooe. He was a fifth rounder. If I'm not
gonna say sixth round sixth rounder. I'm not expecting Yeah,
I'm not.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
I'm not a seventh round right, I'm not thinking they're
going to make a difference. But you you'd hope that
your eighteenth overall pick comes in and is starting and
is playing good football, and that's not the case. Well,
we're in this the Seahawks fans. Seahawks are in the
same situation they've been in the last three years. So
that's kind of the you know how you talk about
(21:37):
the Mariners like you're all in. I could see how
someone on the outside would be thinking, Yeah, your offensive
line has been bad for the last three years, is
it going to automatically just.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
By the way, it wasn't great in twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
It was okay, it was right exactly fine, Yeah, it
wasn't like the right now.
Speaker 5 (21:54):
This is not And I don't think they're going to
jump from thirty first in the league offensive line to
twenty twentieth, Like that's a big jump, but even then
still not a good offensive line. You're twentieth in the
league offensive line. That's not good. So you're looking for
a huge jump and I don't know if they're capable
of doing that. And that's where I think we're getting
(22:14):
We're in that discussion of oh, I think it'll be
better going from thirty first to twentieth. Isn't that great?
Like you're still one of the bad offensive lines.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
You want to at least be the like if you
can get to sixteen, Yeah, he's gonna say right there, Tea.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Now you're like, Okay, this is decent, like competent.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Okay, cool, we're middle of the league.
Speaker 5 (22:32):
That's where they obviously want to get an I think
they can get there, but that's gonna be a huge jump.
You're gonna need the run game to really take a
huge step, obviously, and then with the run game going well,
play action passing, that'll open up things for Sam Donald
to move out of the pocket. And you don't have
your DK. But Jsen's a damn good rob runner. He
can catches everything. Cooper Cup if healthy, they have a
(22:54):
lot of the pieces. But as you always say, we
find out on Sundays.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I'm gonna be interested to see what you just talked
about there JSN and Cooper Cup, Like who's going to
be in the X and who's going to be on
the outside it up?
Speaker 5 (23:06):
Okay, I think that's put pressure on the defenders to
try to figure out what the hell are they doing. Okay,
that's good, that's good.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
If it's one thing about these guys, it's a like
I think Sam Darnold and I'll say this, he's not
he hears everything. They all these athletes. The number one
thing that you can say, oh well, I don't live.
They hear everything. They've got rabbit ears. I there was
(23:34):
a guy name who you see on NFL network who's
going through some personal strife in his life right now,
with some alleged extramarital affairs, by the name of Steve Smith,
who told me he remembered where he was when I
said to him that he was not I said when
(23:55):
he came out of Utah that he was nothing more
than a glorified returner who was kind of a poor
man Santana Moss. Now he ended up being better than
Santana Moss. And you know, it hurts me to say that,
because obviously I loved, you know, Santana Moss, certainly more
than Steve Smith. But he remembered where I where he
(24:17):
was when I said it. They all know, they all hear,
and especially with social media. Now, I think there was
a time back in the day where they would even Michael,
even Michael Jordan would go into every market and they
would By the way, for those of you under the
age of twenty eight years old, there's these things back
in the day that they usually kind of use at
(24:39):
Pipe Place market. They were not as they call them
fish wraps, but they're called newspapers. And they would scour
these newspapers every day. What he said about me, what
did he do, and like they would try to find
they hear everything. And I think for Sam Darnold, his
biggest motivating factor is last year as a fluke, you're
a one wonder and you sucked in those final two games, right,
(25:04):
you sucked against Detroit?
Speaker 3 (25:06):
And I believe was it Washington.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Yeah, Washington, Yeah, with the Commanders, If I'm not mistaken,
I think there was.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
No in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
It wasn't that bad in the playoffs as he was
against Detroit when they lost the division that night. So
you know, like when you hear that he wants to prove,
I think he's got more to prove going into this
season than Cooper Cup, JSN, anybody on that roster. It's
all on Sam Donald and he knows it. And I
think he's gonna step up and be ready for it.
(25:38):
Now you're asking me we talk about clutch. I mentioned
Jaylen Brunson. How Jaylen Brunson's clutch, and he's great. Jason
Tatum is great, but he's not clutch. Do I think
Sam Donald's clutch?
Speaker 5 (25:52):
No?
Speaker 1 (25:52):
You know why because he hasn't proven it in his
entire career. He's never been clutch. Didn't have to be clutch.
Last year, Okay did not had a nine game win streak.
They were running away. They were one of the top
teams in the NFL. They won like fourteen games or
something to that extent. I want to see what happens
if the Seahawks are coming down to week sixteen, seventeen
(26:14):
or eighteen, and they're in a spot for a wild
card and they need to win a big game on
the road. Now we don't know what the schedule is
going to look like until next Wednesday night. I want
to see how Sam Darnell performs in that high pressure
situation with everything's on the line.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
That's what I want to see.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
And listen, I've already eaten crow on the Mariners here
in the last three weeks, and I know I will
tell me, Momark, don't eat your crow yet. You know
it's only may wait until September. But one thing I
can tell you how it looks different is the fact
that this team is winning in so many antithetical ways,
different than they were able to do last year with
(26:53):
the pitching basically carrying them. I want to see how
the Seahawks are able to do it differently this year.
And I want to see this, you know, outside zone
running scheme and how it works, and how it benefits
Sam Darnold and it benefits the offense. And I'm hoping
that Clint Kubiak can come in here and be Kellen
Moore what Kellen Moore was to Philly. I'm hoping Kubiak
(27:15):
can do that for the Seahawks, and if he does well,
this team's go into the playoffs. So they're not rebuilding
though they want to win. They've reset. There's a fine
line between rebuild and reset. They have reset. They have
just changed the parts. This isn't the Titanic to where
they're just rearranging furniture. They have decided to change personnel.
And the thing that I liked the most about this
(27:36):
offseason for John Schneider. He had a plan and you
could tell that he was gonna go offer. He knew
the offer he was gonna give to Gino. He probably
knew Gino wasn't gonna be good enough. Okay, guess what
I'm gonna be ready to trade him? Boom third round pick, DK,
can we get a deal done? No second round pick?
(27:57):
And then hed and then he got It doesn't mean
anything unless he's a Boom. Then he ends up acquiring
the number one target of every team for quarterback and
free agency. And he's here, so he reset, and this team,
to me, is gonna be in better shape and we'll
see what happens. But camp, rookie camp, all that stuff,
(28:21):
you know, the biggest thing I want. I don't care
about how guys look in shells or shorts or whatever.
Just don't get hurt just because I mean those Oh
and it's always the non contact injuries which end up
being the worst. Just everybody, please stay healthy. That's all
I care about, all right. I only give out picks
(28:42):
if I truly strongly believe in something. I've got something
for you tonight that comes next. We will beat the
books on MJ and the Midday Sports Radio ninety three
to three kJ r f M. All right, Seattle, time
will win some money. It's time for me to win
some more money for you. And you know I've been
(29:04):
really good on the NBA, A couple losses here and there.
Not perfect, nobody is. It's called gambling for a reason.
Am I taking the bait on this? Am I taking
the bait on this? It's I've vacillated back and forth
(29:27):
on tonight's game between the Warriors and Timberwolves. Now, obviously
we know there is no Steph Curry, okay number one,
So I'm not gonna lay the ten and a half points.
I don't trust it. First of all, it's a lot
to lay in a playoff game. If you don't believe me,
ask the Boston Celtics they were a ten and a
half point favorite last night.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Do I think the Timberwolves are gonna win tonight? Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
You want to money line that thing, you can, but
you're gonna be paying up that, you know what? Taking
the Wolves on the money line. Give me the over
two oh one, I think, And I know the Warriors
are a great defensive team. I do, but I expect
tonight that Chris Finch is gonna devise a game plan
(30:14):
that's going to well not only lead to a victory,
but lead to a lot of points scored for the Wolves.
I don't think the Warriors will score more than ninety
or maybe ninety three, but I think the Wolves will
get to about that one eight to one thirteen threshold,
which gives you the cover. The the number is two
(30:35):
to oh one. So take the over tonight on the Warriors,
T Wolves. Bet it now, wait for it, dot dot
dot thank me later over two oh one, two oh
one and a half, depending on where you get your action. Also, oh,
(30:59):
I got a little something for you. There's a lot
of points in a playoff game, a lot. Ant Man
over under twenty seven and a half points. I'm with you, kid,
kid gave me the thumbs up. Let's give you another one.
You wanna parlay this thing, go ahead and parlay it.
(31:22):
Ant man over twenty seven and a half game over
two on one and a half.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
There's a nice little parlay. How about one more.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
Jimmy Butler playoff Jimmy over under twenty four and a
half points. No, Steph Curry, ooh, I can't trust that.
I'm gonna start to stay away from that's because Jimmy
is He's not a dynamic scorer.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
That's not his game. He's a game.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
He's a guy that he'll defer, he'll facilitate, he'll do
whatever Steve Kerr wants him to do. I don't trust
that one, so I'm gonna steer clear of that one.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Tonight.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
We gave it to you Warriors teables over two oh one,
aunt Man over twenty seven and a half. If you
want to know how the public's leading, oh you here,
you go. Now, I don't know if this is a
good thing. Eighty nine percent of the public is on
over two oh one. Uh oh. You know when that happens,
(32:19):
what that means. It usually goes the other way. I
don't care. Public money means nothing to me. I care
about MJ money. I'm putting my money on the over.
And here's the If you want to know about the
number tonight, the spread Minnesota minus ten and a half.
Sixty percent of the money are on the Warriors. I
(32:40):
don't like it either way. I take the points. If
you if you held a gun in my head, and
I hope you wouldn't do that, Okay, just not maybe
not till the third date then you can hold the
gun in my head. But so there you go, bet
Thos now, thank me later. I like ant Man over
twenty seven and a half. It's it's he's got to
take over many. He was absolute garbage in the first game.
(33:03):
I think he's arguably the best player.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
In the NBA.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
I mean, not gonna be the MVP, but I think
in terms of a guy of a guy that right
now in the NBA, if I could start a franchise with,
it would be Anthony Edwards. What do you think about
that Christopher kid?
Speaker 5 (33:20):
Where can I sign him a.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Game?
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Right right?
Speaker 1 (33:26):
That's the guy I would start a franchise with right now,
just scratching the surface, not even close to what will
be the prime of his future Hall of Fame career.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
This guy is it. And you know what else some
social media talked about.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
This he does.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
He does kind of look a little he resembles a
little bit physically in the face like Michael Jordan.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
He does a little bit. I never put the two
and two together. I'm like, yeah, you could look like
Michael's son. He does so. Ant Man he's my guy.
Speaker 5 (34:06):
He's uh.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
I love him and I want to see tonight he's
gonna go off tonight.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
Take the over, Betett. Now, thank me later.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
And of course if you I know, you won't thank
me if I win, but you'll rub it in and
you'll let me know if I lose, So either way
it's all good, all right. Coming up next, what does
the word clutch mean to you? And can you be
great but still not be clutch. We'll explain next on
MJ in the midday ninety three to three kJ RFM.
