Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, it's pretty incredible. Yeah, it's great to be on again. Mark. Yeah,
that series in Sacramento against the As was bonkers. It
was a wild one. But yeah, you know, it's been
really impressive to see what they've done offensively and how
they've done it. To me, there's you know, it's kind
of nuanced. I think there's a lot of answers to that,

(00:22):
but the main things they're walking a ton, like they
have the best walk rate in baseball, and they're taking
walks up and down the lineup. It's kind of everyone
involved in that. And they're slugging homers. You know, their
top five in home runs. And when you're on base
all the time and you're hitting home runs, that's a
great place to be. It means you're gonna score a
ton of runs. And they've been scoring a ton of runs.

(00:42):
And you know, you look at the bottom three in
the order. I think if you compare seven of nine
for every team, they have the second best on base
percentage of baseball. And it just seems like no matter
who you plug in there, they're John Watson getting on
and it's just setting the table for you're looking at
JP and Planco betting one who they both have over
four hundred on base. Polanco's slugging the ball, you have

(01:06):
Calu in the middle batting with guys aboard. It just
seems to be they're a really difficult team to pitch too,
because they have a lot of different skill sets and
they're getting guys on for their boppers and they're bopping.
I mean, that's that's kind of how I see this working.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, sin Stan Wilson took over last year. Gary, It's
it's unbelievable. The Mariners have the best offense in the
American League, you know, with that WRC Weighted Runs Challenge
plus meaning they're that created plus excuse me, and it's
it's almost like and they're on base percentage is tied
for first since August twenty second of last year. Maybe

(01:47):
just a new fresh voice in the clubhouse and just somebody,
and then of course him convincing Edgar to come back
for a second stint as hitting coach. Maybe that's just
kind of been the magic formula and this whole ride.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
I think that's part of it. I also think, like
I don't think it's coinnocence that adding Randy Rose arena
at that time has made a big difference. And I
know his numbers don't jump off the page, but like
this year, for example, like he's rolling with a near
three to eighty on base, Like he's on base all
the time, and you look at his production when he's

(02:21):
hit homers, when he's driven in runs, they've usually won
ball games. Like his production has been key, And you
can say the same thing about last year. And I
think when you compare his production to what they were
getting in that spot, it's a huge jump. And he's
been a middle of the order bat. So you've seen
a spot there take a leaf. You've seen them be

(02:43):
able to plug other guys. You know, Roblos was that
guy last year who was just massively productive starting with
the end of last season, and we've seen this year
like JP take that step forward and Polanco take that
step forward. So I think there's a lot of things
at play here, including just they're better. Like I think

(03:03):
their lineup has just been better since that part, since
that time last year, And it's get to the point
now you make a great point like this is more
than just two three weeks. This has been going on
for a while. Their offense has been this good, and
it just you know, the further it goes, the more
you say, man like, how long can they keep this

(03:26):
then going at this level, because it's a ridiculous high
level they're playing at right now.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Gary Hill joining us here on MJ in the midday
on ninety three to three KJRFM, And I gotta tell you,
I you know you look at sustainability, Gary, and I mean,
how about this. In the eleven comeback wins tied for
the most in AL, they have three ninth income from
behind wins, which are the most in the in.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Major League Baseball, all of baseball.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Something must have changed since that that extra innings loss
on Tuesday, April eighth to the Astros. They had the
Businessman Special the next day at T Mobile. They got
down five to nothing. And the guy that you just mentioned,
Randy Rose Arena, which is.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Those are the type of guy. Gary.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I saw this guy lead the race to the World
Series in twenty twenty. I mean, it's something changed. And
whatever Dan Wilson said to that team or whatever they
did after that game on that Tuesday night extra innings
loss to the Astros, it has just been. It's been
night and day, and it's great to see because it's
not what we all thought, which is, Okay, the pitching's

(04:31):
gonna carry them. They're gonna do it. I mean, you know,
George Kirby hasn't thrown a pitch all season. We had,
you know, Logan Gilbert's gonna be out, hopefully only to
the end of the month. I mean, and then you've
seen certain guys, Bryce Miller not making it through the
fifth inning, and a lot of other guys, and yet
it's the hitting Gary. It's almost like you go to
the you thought you were getting one thing, and then

(04:53):
you go and you're like, oh, no, this is a
completely different team, and no, nobody's did you see this coming?

Speaker 1 (05:00):
No like this. I mean, I don't think anyone saw
this coming. If you would have told me they'd have
the record they had right now and been in first place,
so it was like, yeah, I could buy that. I
would have thought it would have been on the back
of the rotation though, that's how this would have happened.
But the fact that's happened like this is incredible, and
I don't think anyone saw this coming. And the fun part,

(05:20):
I think when you look at this scenario, there is
a scenario where they can have both because there is
a scenario where Bryce Miller bounces back to the guy
that we've seen the last couple of years, and Logan
comes back and is healthy, and Kirby comes back and
is healthy. And even if the offense isn't chugging along
like at a second best offense in baseball, like, they

(05:44):
don't have to be if those guys are coming back
and are as good as we've seen them in the past.
And I think the bullpen now with Brash back, it's
a different animal because you have Monials to the back
and Spire's been great and with Brash there, like they're
gonna lock down games in the final three innings. Like
it's really exciting to think about if they get the

(06:06):
rotation healthy, what this thing can turn into because the
fact they put themselves where they are through those injuries
and through offensive injuries too, Like if you would have
told me that Roebloss was going to be out and
Reyley was going to be out, to you guys that
I thought would have to be huge contributors for them
to be really good offensively. It's it's remarkable all the
way around. And that's what impresses me the most about

(06:28):
this season. So far they are where they are through
all the adversity.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yeah, Gary's it's amazing to see and it's so refreshing.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Now.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
We talked about, you know, Logan Gilbert and George Kirby,
and I asked you this the last time we had
you on, and I remember you were saying, at that
moment you were watching, you know, George Kirby throw some
some pitches. Any update to that to both of them,
But let's start with George Kirby first.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Well, he looked great. He started against Las Vegas a
himful of days ago and through forty some pitches, it
was up to ninety eight on the fastball and just
looked phenomenal. Yeah, I watched it on TV and it
was it was just great to see him back on
the mount. It was just great to see if George
Kirby doing his thing. So I know they want to

(07:15):
get him to like eighty ish pitches. The question I
have does that mean he's gonna throw eighty before he
gets to the majors or does that mean eighty in
the majors. So there'll be at least one more rehab start,
probably a couple more, and then as long as there's
no setbacks, like we could be seeing him and in
the next couple of weeks if the progression follows as

(07:36):
we all hope, so that's super exciting. I know Logan
has thrown he hasn't throw a bullpen, I don't think.
I think he's just like played catch a few times
so and it has been as far as I understand, good
after those. So that's a great sign moving forward. So
that's kind of where we're at. And I'm actually I
haven't heard when Kirby's gonna start next, but it has

(07:57):
to be coming up, I matched in the next couple
of days, so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully can
bump that pitch can up to like sixty ish, which
means like, yeah, as long as he feels great after that,
he's he's getting within range.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Do you see Jerry Depoto making any more moves he
brought in Leodi Tavers, What was your initial thoughts He
came up big the other day at the end of
that rubber game against the A's, And do you see
perhaps maybe adding some other players along the way, or
some call ups from Tacoma or you know, somewhere in

(08:32):
the minor leagues that they can maybe like Ben Williamson,
who's been nothing short of great so far.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, it's a good question. You know, this time of year,
it's hard to make ads just because teams aren't ready
to throw up white flag, which is why you don't
see a lot of deals this time of year. At
Tavaris was unique because it's a guy they let go
I like to fit a lot with the Mariners. And
it's funny because I said the same thing when they
acquired Robless, because I felt like he was I felt

(08:57):
like Robless was this, and I feel like Tavaris this
where they're both high floor guys in terms of what
they bring to the Mariners. You know you're gonna get
really good defense, and you know you're gonna get a
guy that can run. Like that's a good skill set
to have for an outfielder and can fit in and
be productive with your team no matter what. Now, it
just so happens Robles took off and became like one

(09:19):
of the best outfielders in baseball the last month. I
don't think we can expect that at Tavaris, but he's
a guy that's been a productive offensive player in the
majors two and with the injuries to the outfield. He
is gonna get a crack at things, and so I
really like the fit and I think he can bring Yeah,
I mean he already has. He already contributed. In the
first game he helped driving a big run and still

(09:41):
a big base and scored a run. So that was
great to see. But just from a skill set perspective,
I really like what he brings to the table. And
in terms of young guys, you know, you never know.
They have been an organization that have they've been a
They've focused on rushing guys for the big leagues. They

(10:01):
want them to be ready. They don't bring up guys
because there's a need for it, which I think is good.
So they wait to see when they're ready. And the
question is, like all eyes are on cool young and
he's starting to heat up. You know, Lockley's had a
pretty good season so far. So you can see a
scenario where those two guys could be called up at

(10:22):
some point and help. I don't know if that's in
the near future, but they're worth having on the radar.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Yeah, no question.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
They have the best farm system in baseball, right, so
that's always good when you know you've got that in
your back pocket. I'm interested to see Gary how they
match up against a team who's only above them in
terms of home runs and on base percentage when the
Yankees come to town on Monday. I know we got
the Blue J's in for the first three games, which
obviously they took care of business up at Rogers' SkyDome

(10:51):
or whatever the hell they're calling that place now. But
I want to see we're an Aaron Judge and Stanton
and those guys coming to town and how this team
is is gonna play and I think you always want
to measure I mean, they're the you know, they won
the Pennant last year. There, they're defending American League champions
and to see how it is and anything in terms
of were you concerned on the last start by Brian

(11:15):
wu when he sort of got shelled there because he
had his first six starts, five of them were quality
and in the last time, do you think it was
at just hey, everybody, even Tom Brady and Michael Jordan
had bad games, right.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Absolutely, It's just one of those days. It's one of
the tough things about the A's is they are super aggressive,
and so once in a while it's an interesting matchup
with wu who's also super aggressive, and it could easily
have gone the other way, where he's throwing six pitches
in an inning and they have three groundouts and he's
into the eighth with like eighty pitches because they're so aggressive.

(11:52):
It just so happened that, you know, they hit him
hard in the first inning being being aggressive, and I
thought he settled in pretty well. It gave the Mariners
a chance to win. But I think it was just
one of those days. And I actually think the A's
are a pretty good offensive team and actually really hard
to pitch too, So it's not just Wo they're gonna
cause problems for They're gonna do that to a lot

(12:13):
of guys this year. So I'm not worried about him
at all. I'm anxious to see him lined up against
the Yankees. I think that's gonna be super fun. And
for me, man like Judge has been out of this
world so far. Yep, the more you face him with
nobody on base, the better, right, And like I want

(12:33):
nothing to do with him. If he never swung the
bat in three games, that'd be fine by me. Like
the he just that's the key to me, And and
actually I think about that with the Blue Jays two
with Lad, like if you tell me at the end
of these six games, give me the final line combined
between Judge and Lad, and the key for both I

(12:55):
think is just don't let them bat with guys aboard.
If they want to hit a solo home run, fine,
but don't make it a two run, three run home run.
Because Lad, you know he's not at Judges level, but
he's really good, and especially in the context of the
Blue Jays offense, like he is the guy. So both
these teams have a guy that you have to be
careful with.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
They do, they do.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Hopefully they can keep it going this weekend, and it's
amazing just to see I think Dan Wilson coming back
the fresh voice in the clubhouse, bringing back Edgar Martinez
for his second stint as the hitting coach, and him
and Kevin Sitzer have done just a remarkable job with
this team. And it's Jor polonco Where do you see
him in terms of do you see him being used

(13:39):
mostly DH or can you do you think he's gonna
have a consistent position going forward?

Speaker 1 (13:46):
You know this is a good question. You know we
saw him at second base a couple of games ago,
and part of that was a rose Raine is dealing
with a hammy, so they gave him a DH day
and then he was back at DH. You know, part
of it is, you know, the way I look at it, man,
he's just been he's been so good offensively and such
a key to what they've done offensively. And Polanco does

(14:08):
have a history of leg issues, so I expect to
see him at DH of fair share, just because that's
probably the best way to try and keep him in
the lineup as much as possible and keep him as
healthy as possible, because he's just he's critical to what
they're doing right now. But I think there are going
to be times where we'll see him and at second base.

(14:31):
I don't think, at least at this point, we'll see
him a third. I think Williamson has really helped out,
you know, stabilizing that position defensively, which has allowed Planco
to be the DH or at second base. So I
think I think we'll see him in the field, but
I think he'll be the primary DH at least in
the short term, just because he's been so good and
they need him in the lineup.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
So Gary, I have to tell you.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
I want to first and foremost, I want to thank
you for a tremendous recommendation. I finally went to Frisco
Freeze on Tuesday. Yes, and Gary, it was wow and
they and they gave me the grilled onions the way
I wanted to very well.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
They go, do you want.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Them done to the point where they're I'm like, yes,
to the point where they're just and and then so
for me, I don't like mustard on burgers, but they're
red relish with white sauce.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Oh my lord, Gary, best burger I've had since I've
been here. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
That's what That's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Thank you, Gary dil You nailed it, man, you nailed it.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
You know you really did. Now let me ask you
about something. This is a place that my mother heard
about and she told me to go check this place out.
She saw it on the news. Have you ever tried
this place in Seattle called Bell's Cookies? To Bell's Cookies,
I heard they're supposedly unbelievable, and I'm that's next on
my list. After the show today, I'm gonna go check

(15:54):
them out.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
So they should be well. I'll let you know, I'll
let you know the next time.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
I but, uh, Frisco Freeze man, and I love the
old school, like look to the whole place.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
You order on the side forever.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Oh and by the way, Unlike another place, when I
asked for something like make those grilled and onions well done,
don't put mustard in my burger, they didn't say no,
we don't do it that way, unlike another place that
rhymes with ricks. I'm not gonna name any names here,
but Gary oh Man, what hey, listen, anytime you got
a wreck like Frisco Freeze, I am all in all in.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Love it, love it. That's ta Cooma comes through, you.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Know, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Yeah, very And I gotta tell you you didn't even
tell me about this. Uh was it Point Rustin?

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Whoa, whoa.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
I just checked that place out last weekend for the
first I'm like, nobody.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Mentioned this place they like.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Now I'm like, damn, wow, that's a whole different area there.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
I think the Tacoma Waterfront is one of the more
underrated places in the Pacific Northwest. Yeah, great spot in
Point Rusting right at the end of it. Yeah, it's
a that place is really blown up. It's a great spot.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, absolutely, Gary, always a pleasure. Thanks again for making time.
We'll see how we can make a ten straight winning series.
Win the Pinstripe well I call them a certain divid
but the Pinchtripe Bronx Bombers come into town on Monday.
Can't wait.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Yeah, hopefully it'll be ten going to that series. That's
gonna be super fun. Can't wait for that.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
One, no doubt about it. Thanks Gary, appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
All done?

Speaker 4 (17:32):
All right?

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Gerry Hill, Voice of the Mariners.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Let me just give you a quick story about Aaron
Judge last year going into Burn Steakhouse in Tampa. Number
one steakhouse in the country. I mean, just you can google.
It's voted number one in the country across.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
The world every year. It's just it just is.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
I mean, I'm not saying it is, but because I'd
even have better than Burn's, Don Shulis and Miami Lakes
was amazing, the original one. There's a purple Rolls Royce
s uv parked right outside and I go in. I'm like,
who's purple Rolls Royce suv?

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Because I've seen Rolls Royces, but I've never seen a
Rolls Royce suv yet. Alone a Purple Rolls Royce suv. Like, oh,
Aaron Judges here right now. Uh must be nice when
you get that big kind of contract and you live
up to the money. Purple Rolls Royce Suv, you get

(18:27):
that thing custom made. I'm like Aaron Judge, it's your
world and we are all living in it. So appreciate
that from Gary Hill. And I think this is gonna
be an absolute huge weekend for the Mariners. And please
don't sell your tickets to Blue Jay fans. Let's not

(18:48):
do that. Let's make sure that you know this is
M's fans taking over. You know it's your home building.
Don't let this turn into a La Chargers game where
the opposing team, whether it's the or the Stealers or
the Raiders, come into town and they take over the building.
Let's make sure that doesn't happen. All right, what's next

(19:09):
and the National Football League? We'll find out next on
MJ in the midday ninety three to three. KJR FM
couldn't help Anthony Edwards getting hurt. I mean, there's nothing
you can do there, but I will have another winner
for you tomorrow for this for this weekend, A big
one tomorrow which I am putting a lot of money on.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Because it's just business.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Business always trumps even your favorite team. And even if
you lose the bet and your favorite team wins, you
can't lose. So I have a big winner coming up
next segment. So the death of the tush push, which
I hate calling it that the quarterback. How about calling
it the rugby the rugby play. I'm gonna call from

(19:57):
that one the QB rugby play. I hate that word
tush push. It's so stupid. It's so dumb. And it
was the Bush push anyway. It started with Reggie Bush
twenty years ago against Notre Dame, and they in somewhere
along the line it got changed to touche push.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
It's so dumb.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Well, anyway, The NFL owners are split whether to outlaw
the rugby style modification, of which it's it's just a
rugby football play.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
That's what it is. It's a rugby football play.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Opponents of the play were expected to spend more time
modifying their proposal while additional research was done on potential
injury risks. The debate is expected to resume at the
next round of owners meetings May twenty and twenty first
in Minneapolis.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Wow, Why would they have owners meetings in Minneapolis? They
usually have it in Palm Springs, California, Palm Beach, Florida, Orlando.
Why would you go to Minneapolis? I would never I've
been there one time. I would never go back. Why
would you have owners means there?

Speaker 2 (21:04):
That's not owners means are supposed to be a place
where they can enjoy the weather, the what's in Minneapolis
that you'd want.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
To go there? All right, that's a whole nother story.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
But the fact that the owner's allowed to have meetings
in Minneapolis, that's a whole Why would you want to
go there?

Speaker 3 (21:21):
My lord?

Speaker 2 (21:23):
So there's a strong possibility now that the Competition Committee
presents a proposal that's gonna outlaw that on the field
before next season.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
I hope it happens. I really do. I'm so sick
of it. I'm with Hugh Millan on this. It's not
a football play. It's it's just not I I don't
like it, and I don't I can't believe that it's
lasted this long.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
I can't believe that it has. Now.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
People within the league believe that such a proposal will
have strong support high ranking NFL officials want not gonna
call it that the rugby play to be removed because
they don't view it as a pure football play, which
it's not. Half of the teams have to agree for now,
but two thirds must vote in favor in favor of

(22:21):
a ban for it to pass. So do you believe
that this will go through coming up in a couple
of weeks.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
I'm hoping it does. I don't know if it will.
I don't like it in the game.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
I think it's I just look back to all Super
Bowl champions over time, and you know, like I didn't
have an issue, you know when And you've seen the
documentary the thirty for thirty on the eighty five Bears,
with the Bears giving the ball to William Refrigerator Perry
at the goal line, who is like three hundred and

(23:01):
seventy five pounds. That is a football play. They're making
him eligible. Number seventy two is a running back. They're
giving the ball to him and he's just blowing through
the line of scrimmage in for the touchdown. I have
no issue with that. When you're being pushed from behind,
that's rugby, that's not foot, that's not American professional football.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
I hate it. Now.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Could the Seahawks benefit from it with Jaln Milroe? Sure,
I think there are better ways to get someone in
the end zone than doing it that way. And I
want to see it gone, and I want to see
Eagles fans and everybody else just cry over this. So
Green Bay Packers, I'm with you. I personally, MJ stand

(23:51):
in solidarity with the Green Bay Packers. Now I know
the Seahawks. They're with the Eagles on this. They don't
want it banned, and maybe that lies in with the
new Clint Kubiak offense that it will benefit the Seahawks,
which probably will. I don't care. It doesn't belong in

(24:12):
the game period. I don't want to see it. It's
just something that looks you're watching it, you're like, and
I'm thinking about wait a second. In the beginning of
Tom Brady's career, in the careers of Joe Montana, Troy Aikman,
they didn't do this crap.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
You know, the Raiders used to be in LA and
there used to be this guy, maybe you've heard of them,
named Marcus Allen. And what they would do is the
Raiders would hand the ball off to Marcus Allen, and
he would jump over the entire line of scrimmage into
the end zone. He never got pushed. He jumped over
the line of scrimmage. That's how you score touchdowns. I

(24:57):
really hope the NFL com Petition Committee and Rich McKay,
please please, Rich McKay be the one to remove this fraudulent,
gimmicky stupid should have been outlawed from the jump play
and get it out of the game asap. I don't

(25:20):
want to see it. And you know what, Philadelphia Eagles
two if if this goes through and it is banned. Sorry,
hear that, Eagles fans. It's the world's smallest violin playing
just for you. Sorry. Jalen Hurts squats six hundred pounds.

(25:40):
He can get into the league, I should mean the league.
He can get into the end zone or get a
yard on third and short or fourth and short on
his own. You don't need that. You don't you think
you need that because you've been getting away with it.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
But stop it. Listen. The NFL stopped the the play the.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Patriots used in twenty fourteen against the Ravens in the
playoff game, the pick play.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
They stop that. They outlawed that.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
So let's finally outlaw this absolutely rugby play that has
no business being in the game of football.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
I hate it. It's stupid.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
And if you love football and you like this sort
of thing, that's fine. Now when it comes to maybe
you have a cover on the over and this is
going to get you the points on that, I understand.
I'm a gambling man myself, but I don't want the
game to the integrity of the game of football to

(26:39):
be compromise by some stupid, gimmicky rugby play that belongs
in Australian rules football.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Yeah, that's what it belongs OI.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Oh yeah, how you're doing might No, it doesn't belong
in the game of the NFL or college football.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Get it out.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
I will be waiting with baited breath as they have
their NFL Owners meetings in Minneapolis. I again, Palm Springs check,
Palm Beach check. Orlando check, Dallas check Minneapolis. Is this
a punishment? Did somebody did the NFL owners meetings? Are

(27:20):
they being punished by the league to go there? It's like,
why would you go to Minneapolis for anything other than
to play the Vikings. That's the only reason you want
to go to Minneapolis, but no more rugby play outlaw.
I'm with you, Green Bay Packers, get it out of there,
Mark Murphy, Hugh Millen, I ride with you. It's stupid,

(27:42):
it doesn't belong in the game. Get it out, and
it's cheapening the game because you allow this to keep going.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Then what's next? What's next?

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Are you going to allow guys to put a running
back and put them on their hands and lift them over?

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Is that next?

Speaker 2 (28:01):
I mean, it just sets a whole bad precedent and
it's gone on way too long. And I can tell
you right now Walter Payton must be rolling over in
his grave along with Jim Brown, that this crap is
allowed to infiltrate the game.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Get it out. Just horrible, all right?

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Coming up next, I got a winner for you this weekend,
a big winner. It's gonna hurt me to say this,
but I will come back with that. We will beat
the books next on MJ in the midday on Sports
Radio ninety three to three KJR FM.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Do I think the Timberwolves are gonna win tonight?

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Absolutely? You want to money line that thing, you can,
but you're gonna be paying up that, you know what.
Taking the Wolves on the money line. Give me the
over two oh one, I think, And I know the
Warriors are a great defensive team. I do, but I
expect tonight that Chris Finch is gonna devise a game

(28:58):
plan that's going to well, not only lead to a victory,
but lead to a lot of points scored for the Wolves.
I don't think the Warriors will score more than ninety
all right. To be fair, I also had aunt Man
going over twenty seven and a half points. He got hurt,
so he's out from a major portion of the game.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
So it sucks. And I know, you know, you don't
the books.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
Don't give you your money back if the guy that
you said would go over it gets hurt. It just
doesn't work that way, So you know, but I gave
you the over on that one. There was a winner. Okay.
Looking at the games this weekend. Tonight, we got a
doubleheader Calves Pacers four thirty, Calves five and a half

(29:47):
point favorite over under two thirty one.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
And a half thunder Nuggets in Denver.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Oh boy, I think that mister Joker, mister Jokic is
gonna have some than to say. Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter
and Jamal Murray and Christian Brown. They're gonna have a
receipt for the thunder in this one at ball Arena,
but I'm not going there.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
No, you know what, It's all about business.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
And people will be like, oh, you know, I always
get people ask me.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
Oh man, you know, hey, you know a great job.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
And the Hurricanes one, I'm like, I didn't bet on
I don't bet on Miami College football. If anything, I
bet against them. You don't bet on your favorite team.
That's called being a complete schmuck. That means that you're
an absolute JABRONI. You're the reason why renovations are made
with public money at casinos.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
No tomorrow, blowout City.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
I know the celebrity row will look like tomorrow at
Madison Square, Garden court side will look like the red
carpet at the Oscars and the Grammys.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
I'm gonna roll with the Boston Celtics tomorrow against my
favorite team. Celtics minus five and a half, it should
be low out city. Now, I'm first to acknowledge Jalen
Brown didn't have a Jalen Brown. Jalen Brown didn't have
a great He was awful last game. Jalen Brunson did
not have a good game last game, even though he
hit a clutch shot when it mattered in the last
three minutes because he's clutch, so I used the clutch

(31:15):
Player of the Year, but he was five of eighteen
og and Nanobi only had five points. Celtics. If they
lose tomorrow, it's over. Nobody's come back down three to
nothing and won a series. Celtics came back down three
nothing against the Heat two years ago, but then they
lost Game seven at home. If they lose tomorrow, it
is over the Celtics minus five and a half. I

(31:39):
think the Celtics will probably cover eight and a half.
They might even cover ten and a half, but it's
five and a half. I think it'll be tomorrow. Jason Tatum,
Jayalen Brown, Peyton Pritchard, the sixth Man of the Year
in the NBA, Derek White, Luke Cornett, Al Horford. I
don't know if Porzingis will play. If he does, he'll
be back in his old stomping grounds. He was drafted

(32:00):
by the Knicks to begin with. Take the Celtics tomorrow.
Bet it now, you gotta wait for it. Thank me later.
Bet it now, Thank me later. Celtics big time tomorrow
minus five and a half. And if I lose that,
bet I win anyway because I'm a Knicks fan, so
we'll be up three to nothing either way.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
I can't lose, right. It's like.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
When you're a great professional athlete and they got the
wives section over here behind the team dugout, and then
they got the side pieces over behind the visiting dugout.
You can't lose, right, you can't lose. So that's the
way I look at it tomorrow. But I love the
Celtics on the court. Minus five and a half. That's
easy money, easy money. They're gonna win that tomorrow. The

(32:48):
NBA doesn't want it going three. Oh, they don't want
it happening. The calls will favor the Celtics, I'm sure
as well. And they blew two twenty point leads. Now
it's gonna be a hot style environment. This is the
real Garden. This is no Fleet Center masquerading as you know,
the Boss the old Boston Garden.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
This is MSG.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
This is the world's most famous arena, and that place
is gonna feel like a Nirvana concert in nineteen ninety
two at the Kingdome or Key Arena it's gonna be
it's gonna be a mosh pit, it's gonna be that loud.
I think the Celtics get it done. They just get
it done. They're the champs and I don't see them losing.

(33:30):
I really don't. Don't have a feel for tomorrow's game
between the Teebles and Warriors because Aunt Man was hurt.
Don't know how healthy he'll be. Steph is out. So
put that flip a coin on that one flip a coin.
But yes, so there it is on the Celtics. Love them.
I'm gonna place it myself. So you know, every bet

(33:52):
that I give on the air, I am personally placing it.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
So if I win, you win. If I lose, you lose,
I'm there with you.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
I'm not one of these people who are on national
television that that are giving out picks and not putting
to me. It's sort of like, and I don't do drugs.
I never have, but like if I was a drug dealer,
right like, you'd want to try the product before you
you deal it to make sure that Hey, I tried
it myself. Man, stuff is good. I try it myself.

(34:22):
That issue is great. You're gonna you're gonna gonna love it.
I'm on the Celtics. Give me the Celtics, and it's
gonna hurt me to say that, but I think they
come out and win big time tomorrow. Matter of fact,
I might even I could. I would even look at
the first half lines on that game. I'm not big
on the first half lines, but I could see that
it's gonna be a big win, all right. The Mariners

(34:46):
where they rank amongst the elite in m l B.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Where where do they rank?

Speaker 2 (34:55):
I know, we know they're great, but where do they
rank from the outside looking in of the PNW. We'll
get to that next. Don't forget. We got the what
do you say? Text of the Day coming up out
through that at four nine, four five one on MJ
