Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please listening Morning Drive with Christie Live on Demand.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
My name is Christy. Producer Karna's here at six forty four.
I don't know why I'm yelling. It's okay, sorry, I
don't know why yelling there.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Unfortunately, got to start off the Monday morning with a
little bit of sad news, breaking news. Phil Donahue. Do
you remember the Donahue Show if you're an eighties kid,
if you grew up in the seventies, even the nineties,
because I remember back in the day he had two
live crew on there talking about the different you know.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Oh they're basically taboo. Everything that they're.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Talking about and thinking about, is you know, indecent. Well,
unfortunately Phil Donahue passed away. His family confirmed it. I
guess he died last night after a long battle. I
don't know why. They didn't say what it was. Did
you hear, producer Karina No, they.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Just say a long time illness. But his family was
by a side, which Christy I didn't know. He was
married to actress Marlo Thomas for forty four years, a
long time.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
He started doing The Donahue Show when he was thirty No, yeah,
thirty one, and he retired when he was sixty years old,
so quite some time. And then yeah, just definitely if
you grew up in the eighties, you definitely remember the
Donahue Show before TV kind of went to Jerry Springer
and Hraldo or Chills and all the things. Yeah, he

(01:26):
was one of the ogs. So rest in peace to
Phil Donahue. He was eighty eight years old.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Point seven. Piece of time for the Crazy Trailer on
Morning Drives with Christie Live.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Today, the Crazy Train is headed all the way across
the country to Burlville, Rhode Island, a small town that's
actually really really famous. Do you know that movie The Conjuring, Yes, okay,
this is where the actual house that was haunted is located.
So there was a man by the name of Brian
Desiro who worked at the house, but unfortunately he recently

(02:12):
got fired. His boss said, I know you're stealing, and
you want to know how. She knows how because John
Arnold told on him. The only thing is John Arnold
owned the house in the eighteen hundreds.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
John Arnold is a ghost.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
So apparently the woman who runs this house said that
the ghost of the house snitched on this man and said.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
He was stealing, and so she fired him. No, no,
not blaming a ghost, that's what she said. The man
who got fired couldn't believe it either, And.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I literally stopped and I actually corrected him like John Arnold,
one of the original owners who died in eighteen thirty nine.
And she said, yes, and I want you to pay
it back.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Okay now, And now I've heard it all.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
He is suing this woman for paid wages and for
taking too many trips to crazy Town.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
I lost my job because the ghosts go set.

Speaker 3 (03:08):

It's time for the great.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Debate judging a book by its cover. It happens whether
we like it or not.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday always hash out a hot topic,
and it's always amazing when you call in with a
great debate, which is exactly what James did this morning.
Thank you so much for bringing this one to the table. So,
I know we were kind of talking off air about
what's been going on, and you don't want to share
what company you're applying for, and that's cool. You won't

(04:14):
say what it is. We'll just say it's a tech
company in the South Bank. Yeah, okay, So what's going on?

Speaker 4 (04:21):
So I've been looking for a new job recently, and
I've been going to interviews. I've got a few, and
my wife seems to think that I need to dress
up for these interviews like khakis and his dress shirt
and a tie, and I think that's crazy. I'm not
going to be dressing like that for the job, so

(04:42):
why would I dress like that for the interview. So
I'm just going like me, you know, jeans, and I'm
gonna wear clean clothes. But my resume should be what matters.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Well.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I think a lot of people have been in this situation,
especially in twenty twenty four, where the work environment seems
to be a lot more asual, especially if you are working,
let's say, for a tech company.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
But I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I always learned you dress the part, especially for the interview,
you dress up.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
I don't think I need to dress up.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I don't know, James.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I say, regardless of where you're interviewing at, you should
dress up. What do you think is the question for
this morning's Great Debate. We're signing with your wife, James
on this one, but we'll put it out there for you.
Do you think in twenty twenty four you need to

(05:34):
dress up for an interview? One eight sixty six nine
hundred one three seven or tap the red microphone on
our iHeartRadio app and send a talk back to jump in.
There's a news story that went viral this morning. A
woman got sent home from an interview because she was
wearing short shorts.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Yeah, come on, girl, this is not the club. I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Even if your resume is amazing, you in wearing some
daisy d Okay.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I'm sorry, you're not getting there. You're not hired. No,
but what do you think? Call me up?

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Leave a talk back? Jump in for this morning's Great
debate dressing up for interviews. Can't wait to hear what
you have to say about this one.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Next back to the Great debate Classic Kids one oh
three point.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Seven every Monday, Wednesday and Friday always got to talk
about a hot topic. And James called in this morning
because he said his wife won't leave him alone about
dressing up for an interview, and he's like, my resume
speaks for itself. Why do I have to dress up?

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Different? James, thanks for calling this morning. What do you think?

Speaker 5 (06:44):
Yeah, you dress up?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
You dress up for an interview.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
I don't care.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Where are you going.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
I do the hiring.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
You show up looking your.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Bad nice Thank you for that, James. So you said
you do the hiring, so you work in HR.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
I'm glad to be the hiring for my company.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
But yeah, you think your bestment forward, best verse impression?

Speaker 2 (07:02):
All right, thank you so much. I will note your vote. James,
Good morning, Lewis. Appreciate you checking in. Should you dress
up for an interview?

Speaker 5 (07:11):
I think that he listener. Could his resume got him
the interview? Now we used to go over and show
him dressed up to get the job.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Come on, now, Lewis, drop the bike. He said, I
think he's misunderstood. Let me go ahead and let you know, sir,
that is true. The resume got you in the door.
Now you gotta sell it. That's a good point.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Thank you, Beck.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
You have a great day, Lewis, and good morning, Yanna.
Thanks for checking in for the great debate should you
dress up for an interview? In twenty twenty four, James
said his wife was giving him the blues because he
was dressed down.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
So I work in tech company, and I think the
person needs to dress up based on the seniority he's
applying for. He definitely going to be going in student
a tie, but he should definitely be going up in
a dressed up shirt and it's some kind of a
jacket that and nineteen but not tie and shooed, but
definitely dressing up a little bit and not going into

(08:11):
his hoodie and a T shirt.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Really, So you say suit and a tie is out?

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Why?

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Why is that?

Speaker 6 (08:17):
Because in tech companies, depending on this position he's in,
if he's in engineering, he will not be taking seriously.
But if he's in a text it's a tech startup
or tech large company that he will not be taking seriously,
either in a suit or a top of culture shoot
and a taie. Yeah it's the culture all right?

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Then?

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Well, thank you for that perspective, Yanna, especially here in
Silicon Valley, do you think you should be dressing up
for an interview?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
I'm with James.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
You know you got to put your best foot forward,
but that's a different perspective. What do you think is
the question? One eight six six nine hundred one o
three seven. You can also tap the red microphone on
our free iHeartRadio apps and the talk back for this
morning's Great Debate.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Get y'all next back to.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
The Great Debate Classic Kids. One oh three point seven.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
James called in his wife will not leave him alone
about dressing up for an interview.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
He's been going on.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Interviews kind of casual and he doesn't see anything wrong
with it because he feels like his resume should speak
for himself. That is this Morning's Great Debate Every Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. We started off around eight thirty ish
and love to hear your thoughts.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Trey m with this one.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
You should always look the pop whatever you're going for,
especially in a jobbing.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
Abu makes the right impression.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Thank you so much for that talkback. That is so true.
A lot of people shouting that out. Got another talkback
from our app.

Speaker 7 (09:49):
So I hear the argument about he wants to dress
the way he would for a normal workday, but this
is not a normal workday. He's meeting a potential supervisor
for the very first time. And I always fall back
on you only get one opportunity to make a good
first impression. Why wouldn't you want to make the best
possible first impression you could?

Speaker 3 (10:10):
All right, thank you so much for those talkbacks. Good morning, Darwin.
What are your thoughts?

Speaker 5 (10:15):
An interview is not just about what you do? An
interview is usually a first impression. And no one sees
someone wearing a suit and tie and says, oh, he's
trying too hard. That doesn't happen. But someone will look
at jeans and a shirt and think, oh, I guess
they don't really care that much. Like I work in

(10:35):
a warehouse environment. Like if someone comes in wearing a
suit and tie, and obviously they're not going to wear
that on a forklift, but it shows me that they're serious.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Okay, that does that does make sense? A suit and
tie on a forklift? I really like that.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Damn Okay, that was the choice right there.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
What do you think dressing up for an interview? That
is this morning's great Debate, Daniel.

Speaker 8 (11:06):
Are you eyeing for my company? And yes, I believe
you should gets up. But my perspective is if you're
bowl gonna ast love to dress up for eath of you,
you're bettera blew my mind like Ohias blow his mind.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Thirty You got thirty seconds. That's got to get it right.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
If you come it in and super casual, bruh, you
better be bringing the heat, all right, Producer Karina, thank
you so much to everybody who called in and left
talk bags for this morning's Great Debate. Remember, if you
ever have a question that you want to pose for
the Great Debate, please call us or drop it via
talk back. What did the people say for the Great Debate.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
This morning?

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Our boy James needs to dress up for the interview.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
You have to make that first impression and yeah, listen
to the wife that was like one million to like three. Yeah,
dress so much.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
But I do appreciate Lena and Yana calling in because
they said they both work in kind of Tech and
they said if you come in with a suit and tie,
you won't be taken seriously because the culture of the
company is more casual and they don't want any stuffy
tie heads.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
That makes sense. I mean, you know, it's just saying.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
You create your own startup, at least clean it up. Yeah,
and brush your teeth. Nobody wants to smell some funky
breath or don't work Daisy Dukes either, who are short
shorts like somebody did.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
I'm not gonna say any names, all right.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
That is your
