Speaker 1 (00:02):
It is the morning marsh bit on Rock ninety five five.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I am Maris Michael, and we're missing the Princess of darkness.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Yeah, what is the deal? She wasn't feeling good.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
She's not feeling good. It got a little going on, so,
you know, we hope she feels better.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Don't worry.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
A really long weekend. You know, we'll see. We'll see
if she comes back tomorrow or she's just in full relaxation.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Oh, she didn't come back tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
I'm gonna start feeling sick to it.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Actually, I'm you know, I might be coming down with
something too. Don't worry. We've settled in.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
We found that they had a massive barbecue chair yesterday
in the building. God, Maris, there is no joke, almost
a no us. There is no joke. Ten pounds of
mac and cheese back there, Yes, just a pray of
Master cheese and meats. We got we got turkey.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
We got him, and we got ribs along with all
the Thanksgiving items, the sweet potatoes and beans, the stuffing.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
It feels like right now, it was it was.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
A it had to be a Thanksgiving catering and shout
out to Robinson's ribs.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Oh, I'm so glad you shouted them out because this
is ale goodness.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I've had Robinson's ribs before, you know, on the barbecue
chat with this Thanksgiving meal that they just brought in.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
I'm posting a picture of us on a at morning
mosh pit right now on Instagram, just a trail we're
posing with the meat, a trade full of meat and
lots of stuff. On the show today, man, we got
we got Rodeo tickets, we got John Mulaney tickets.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
We got to talk sports. Uh yeah, Actually there's a
lot going on in sports. Our teams are kind of
in a downward spiral. I don't talk about it. Okay, Well,
last tough night last night. Yeah, we got a lockout
looming too. Yeah, it's not exciting for the MLB. But
we'll get to all that today. And you got weather, right,
weather coming up next? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Actually you got some good weather, I swear to you.
Even yesterday I went outside for a minute. It was like,
so we're back in uh spring or summertime. It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
You don't get every season this week, and then we're
going to do that all through winter.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
I'll tell you about it coming up next.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Sometimes Michael says, don't go outside or looking out your window,
it'll ruin the surprise.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Here's weather. Oh how are we doing out there? I
haven't looked yet. No sun it's peaking speaking a little bit.
Oh it's pretty. I love it.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Man. We have been so lucky with weather the past
couple months. Here today, Hi a fifty three, partly cloudy
tomorrow though, sunshine all day in sixty one Saturday, it's
gonna be cloudy, but it's gonna be warm sixty three degrees.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Love that.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
And Sunday is the day this weekend to get outside. Well,
it's gonna be a little cooler, high a fifty five,
but sunny all day Sunday, sunny all day Monday, and
then the rain returns next week.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
So if you didn't already put up your Christmas decoration, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
You have a second opportunity to get outside and do that.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Also, don't fall off the house, Yeah, don't do.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
If you're stuck in a situation where your leaves just
fell because of the snow.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, you got a lot to clean up, and hopefully
they're still doing pick up.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
But I still get that you're you're a homeowner, like
you actually talk about these things with roofs, and you
got leaves, you got to clean up and stuff.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
I would be man, I just got a roof done too,
and I was just like, just in the nick of time.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
But I guess they still have more time to work outside.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Well and be careful up on the on the top
of the My dad fell off one time putting Christmas
lights on all the way to the ground.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Yeah, broke his back all high up two stories. Oh gee. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Another time my dad was cutting a cutting What was
he doing. It was cutting a branch off of a
tree or something, and inside the tree a bee's nest
had happened, And so he's up on a ladder with
chainsaw and the bees come out and catch him right
in the right eye, just sting him, and he falls
off the back of the sting. We grew up in
the country. Yeah, you no ladders, I know.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I know.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
I agree to stay off the ladders. By the way,
risky iss times to drive during Thanksgiving? Are you going out?
Are you heading to Grandma's house? If you're going over
the river and through the woods, we're going to tell
you how.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
To stay safe. Now.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Oh, man, just got an email next week. This is
a tip for everybody listening right now, we won't say
it again. Next week, we have Three Days Grace tickets. Oh,
they announced a big tour. They're playing March ninth at
All State Arena. Okay, and those tickets qualify you to
go backstage and meet the band.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Have you ever met him? Not Three Days Grace, then,
Oh no I have. I was gonna say, come on,
I was living.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
I went to DC one time and was supposed to
do this interview with them, and it was some tiny
little club and they just had an album out. And
I come around a corner in downtown d C rush
hour and shred a tire. So like you know, when
you get a little too close to the curve you
popped this shredded the tire and so I'm laying on
the ground rush hour DC. Three Days Grace is waiting
to do an interview. I mean, they were so gracious,
(04:50):
by the way, nice guys.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
No, that's what I was going to say. Just one
of the most amazing people that you can meet. So
that opportunity is going to be amazing for who can
absolutely this driving opportunity to is in front of us
for Thanksgiving? Not looking sexy airports are airporting lately, and
the lines to get through security and just hope that
your flight's going to take off as a big burden
(05:13):
for the holiday season, and all State is predicting that
the roads are going to be just as busy with
people trying to avoid airwaves. So ahead, well, obviously that
is one of the best options if you want to
avoid all of this.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
But if you.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Have to drive, do it at night. I never thought
of that. Overnight driving roads are less busy. You get
in early, you can kind of go at your own pace.
You don't have to worry about things. Typically take off
after seven and then you know if you've got to
pull over to take a nap, take a nap, do
what you gotta do, but also be aware of your weather.
(05:53):
Not What you don't want to do is drive in
rush hour traffic. Avoid that like the plague. No big
cities you're going through, or find your way around a
big city so that you don't have to sit in
rush hour traffic. Typically eleven am to three pm is
going to be pretty difficult.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
But we also know the drive in and a drive
out is going to catch you.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Well. In the Pacific Northwestern we would do Thanksgiving and
everybody would come together. People are coming from Arizona and
Idaho and all these places. A lot of them would
come in a day early just to avoid things like that.
That Wednesday, driving on that Wednesday is probably going to
be less busy than Thursday.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Thank you for my next tip.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Tuesday, if you can get out for Thanksgiving, is going
to be the best time to get out.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Wednesday people are typically.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
On the move already kind of getting their things going,
and then Sundays just a free for all. Everybody's kind
of heading back to town. If you want to go
back Saturday, that might be the best bet because.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
People should be out shopping and doing some other stuff.
But oh is that black Yeah? That close to Black
Friday already? Yes, it is.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
It is basically here. We'll have to go over some
Black Friday deals later in the show. There's got to
be some.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Out there for what things we don't need but we want.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yes, the things we didn't know we wanted until we
saw them on sale. But yeah, the biggest thing with
Black Friday and traveling for Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Plan ahead. Yeah, just plan ahead. That's going to be
the best way to get around everything.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Plan ahead for gifts. I'm the guy you see wandering
the mall. And remember that back in the day.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
I do my best work the week of Christmas because
you have to buy it, you've got to get it,
and you gotta be at the party. It's a day
after eight your next chance to get one thousand dollars
so you can get ready for the holidays. Really Black
(07:43):
Friday Thanksgiving food does like whatever you gotta do to
get ready for your in laws coming into town.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Rocky the Rooster, Yeah, he'll take care of you. I
could use that money. It's a bunch of concerts I
want to go to too. Oh my god, they're lining
up so good for next year. Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
The lot.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Well, we just found out about the Three Days Grace
by the way next week Three Days Grace tickets and
meet and greet passes, which is awesome. Also Live Nation
putting out a bunch of shows. They have a new
study out. According to a website they set up, people
are twice as likely to choose seeing their favorite artist
in concert over sex. Seventy percent of people would choose
concerts compared to thirty percent who would choose sex.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
That is a huge, you know difference. Wow, new generation
like it. Is interesting, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
I think here, here's what I've been thinking about this
a lot lately. We have so many options for things. Yes,
we have cool video and not only just things, but
they're cooler than ever. Three D headsets. We're gonna have
glasses soon where we can see everything. I think that
sex is a lot of work. Yes, for being honest,
I mean, you gotta work at it, right either you
got to you know, you gotta be in a good
(08:50):
spot with your spouse, so you gotta go date, which
is a ton of work. It's exhaust I feel like
maybe it's not even just concerts, but just doing something
you enjoy, you know what I mean? Yeah, and I
or maybe people just having bad sex.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
I don't know. It could be a very big thing.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
I just when I think about comparing sex to anything
else as far as that uphoric experience, yeah, nothing touches
it well.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Right, I've always said God won with the orgasms. That
is a pinnacle of things that were created.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Like Also that that buzzy feeling you get after a concert.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
That's true. Also what concert that's some concerts are better
than this. That's not going to be everything. That's true, y'all.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Y'all out here asking me for Kids Bop twenty twenty six,
and I know.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
That is not giving you that feeling.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
But Lincoln Park with Emily at the United Center, all
kinds of buzzies intimate you. You my chemical romance over field,
you know, or like a Pearl Jam show home. If
I was choosing, I would be like, go to the show. Yeah,
like I I have separated those feelings into do two
different places, and I chase both.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Of them better.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yet, if you get like free drink tickets or somehow
there's some catering maybe or like next next week we're
giving the three days Grace meet and greet passes a
meet and greet, Yeah, that would accelerate.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
See, we're sort of there's levels of this, and I'm
adding extra money into this. A big athletic event.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Yeah, Oh, don't get me started on a World Series
or something.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
I'll never have a game. And for me, it's the
Bears Lions game over it's Oldier Field.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
I get over there with my brother and my sister
in law, my buddy Pat crack that first beer and
there's just like this sensation, this calm that comes over
and it's just when you get in those situations that
have a good time. That those are three different experiences
and I chase all three separately, but I would never
try to swap one out for the other.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah, what do you think eight four four fifty text us.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
No, there's some things where you're just like, I need
a towel and it's not sex right, You're like, that's
the best concert I've ever seen, or more sporting events
and it's incredible, that's your thing.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
What what would you choose to swap out with sex? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (11:04):
What's better than sexify?
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Oh, I can't wait to see these respondes. Alert it's
time to dart out.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Very fun update from the world of Mario. I love
this music, Yes we do. Indeed got an updates from
the Mario Galaxy movie the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. We
knew that Chris Pratt was going to be returning as
Mario Princess Peach played by Ana Taylor Joy. Charlie Day
from Always Sunny playing Luigi Jack Black As you didn't
(11:41):
know that.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Such a good Luigi keg and Michael Key playing Toad
and then Kevin Michael Richardson playing the Chemick.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
But we have two new additional people.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Now.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
I don't know if you know much about Super Mario Galaxy,
but this is when we are introduced to the other Princess, Rosalina.
She's gonna be played by Bree Larson, and then Bowser
Junior is going to be played by Bennie Softy.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
And the trailer looks good.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
It's all a little quick snapshots of just introducing the
new characters and not really getting too much into the story.
But I got to give a big shout out to
Nintendo's marketing. Yeah, because after the Switch Too came out,
one of the games that they were very specific about
announcing was Mario Galaxy.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
And Mario Galaxy Too.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
They're re releasing it, had re released it already leading
into the movie coming out next year on April third.
So the timing, the marketing behind it all great job.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
I have to assume these are animated, right, Yes, okay,
it's animated, But is it like Toy Story animated or
like more Saturday Morning Cartoon animated.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Toy Story anime?
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (12:51):
I like that?
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Yes, I think did I see this? I think I
trust you, I've seen you know what I did. I
had no joke and this is so May. I tried
watching it and there was too much noise in the movie,
too many things. Oh yeah, and I just had to
turn it off. At a certain point, I was like,
my brain cannot comprehend this.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
There's absolutely gonna be a lot going on, and as
we do, we'll discuss things that we're keeping a watch
out for for Black Friday.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Mario Galaxy and Mario Galaxy to collection and just made
its way to my list.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Do you think there will be Yeah, like you said
later on the show, we're talking about best about Black
Friday deals. Do you think there will be a switch
to Black Friday deal or is it too hot? No?
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Damn, alright, that's gonna be full price.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Yeah, you're gonna pay that money. Dam They're gonna get theirs.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
It is the Prince of Darkness right here on Rock
ninety five to five the Morning Machpit, We're down our
Princess of Darkness.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Yeah, that's right, just got a little going on.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
I won't see if this is just a long weekend,
but Michael, we're trying to save some money here.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
This is kind of crazy. Check your couch cushions and
save up all your pennies because they us is not
making any more pennies.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
They're done.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yesterday the last ever US penny was minted in Philadelphia.
They've been making pennies since night seventeen ninety three.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Damn ease.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
And President says we shouldn't make any more pennies because
they cost more money to produce than they're even worth.
One penny costs three point seven cents to make. If
that isn't the most American bs I have ever heard,
do you know what? This doesn't make any sense? Wild,
Let's keep doing it. Billions of pennies still in circulation
will remain legal. Of course you can use them, but
there won't be anymore, which means some of them will
(14:35):
become worth a ton of money.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
I would imagine, yeah, if you got a nice little
penny collection.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Some businesses are already feeling the shortage and have started
rounding receipts to the nearest five cents, particularly if people
are paying cash. But my thing is is, like, you know,
I was in River North last night and I was
getting asked for money, as some you know, homeless people do,
and I just thought it sucks for homeless people because
I don't carry cash anymore. If I have a dollar
or two five bucks. I'll give to them, but I
don't carry cash.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
You haven't met the really ingenuitive.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
With the I've seen one with the they got the square,
the QR page.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
I'm like, I don't many cash on me to go.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Well, guess what, dammit, you're gonna get smart in those situations.
But I want to know how long we've been producing
three cent pennies. Long the minute the penny was over,
or it costs more to make a penny, that's when
we should stop making pennies.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Listen, we try to make sense of things that the
government does every day, Marison. Doing that will cause you
immense amounts of stress, even if prices aren't rounded up.
There are drawbacks to this, people are saying, for one,
it's another step pushing us towards a cash list society.
This is kind of an interesting thing. China has this.
Have you read about this? So essentially you have like
(15:50):
a digital credit score, oh where you like, they can
basically turn off your bank account, or they can make
it so if you you know, they can sort of
if everything becomes digital, it's ConTroll If it's cash, we
can have it in our house, in our walls, in
our pockets whatever.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
So that's kind of an interesting idea.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
I mean, I know we're making our way to it,
and I mean we have we both have smart watches
that can pay for everything that we have going out there,
so it's here. I just like knowing that I could
walk around with some cash. Every once in a while,
I got a few bucks in my pocket.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
Get rid of you. So a nickel costs thirteen cents
to make, okay, so I see where this is going.
I see where this is going. Get rid of the change.
Come on, how much does a dollar cost?
Speaker 3 (16:31):
It doesn't say, it's probably seventeen fifty jesus.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
We're working upside down, guys. Come on.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
That next keyword with Rocky the Rooster is coming up
after eight and we all need the money. Thousand dollars
up for grass for you all throughout the days. Do
not miss out on those opportunities things you might want
to miss.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Yeah, I know, I just both of those games last night,
and they both sucked. I like, I'm really happy the
Bulls are doing great, man, but last night was not
a good game.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
That wasn't Pistons are good.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Thought, Pistons are good, which caught me off guard because
I thought we would have been more on an even
level with the Pistons book, We're not so.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Pistons ten and two now after beating the Bulls last
night one twenty four to one thirteen, she got she
goto just kind of couldn't get it together. Giddy's out.
But also you told me that a bunch of the
good Pistons players are out. That doesn't make me feel
good either.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Kid Cunningham, their star player out, Jade and Ivy out.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Just they had seven players out.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
We should have been able to compete a lot better
than we did yesterday.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
You can't let the score get so far apart, because
even with the Bulls are starting a fourth quarter at
eleven and oh run, it just still wasn't enough.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Yeah, and that's a hell of a run.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
I mean, it's it's a consistent thing within the NBA
where you have these big runs where you going fourteen
oh twenty zero run, and it's it's part of the
game at certain points. But you're right, once you.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Get your leave, stay there, put your foot on their
throat and just keep it rolling. Yeah. Yeah, So let's
see here.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Bull's next game is against the Heat Friday at the
United Center. Tip off seven o'clock. And then we had
the Blackhawks, who actually played a really great game, awesome game,
except they lost in overtime. Okay, New Jersey Devils simon
more of a fight, just less result, Yeah, exactly. Now
they're good Man Econnovo Dard's point streak up to four
(18:27):
games now, and again they kept it close, but they
got to finish these games. They got to take advantage
of the power play, and they got to just tighten
it up a little. But the nice thing about both
of these teams is they're very young and they're doing
really well for how young they are. Like, i mean,
we're talking even halfway down the season that things are
going to be a lot different.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
So yeah, and it's still exciting with this isn't doom
and gloom moment. It's just like, hey, let's bounce back,
let's get a little bit more consistent. Let's continue that
excited hype that we had when we were just sitting
right on the top.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Gonna have baseball next season, I'm worried. Yes, we're gonna
have baseball.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
It's a season after that we're gonna talk about the
looming lockout that could be a thing.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
So it's not next season. The fall seasons interesting, so
this is technically the twenty twenty seventh season. But we'll
discuss a little more later.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
But I do want to shout out Paul Skins Intereak Schooble,
two great pictures, both won Cy Young.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
There was never a question in anybody's mind who was
going to take those homes, but congratulations to them.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
And I just look at what the Tigers might potentially
do if they don't keep Schooble in town, and I'm
on a Tigers fan, that's going to bother me so much.
But it's also like you look at the Pirates and
what they're doing with Paul Skins. They don't have a
team built around them, which is topic for discussion for
what could happen with the lockout.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Well, and you think like if one of the one
of these teams, like the Cubs or somebody, goes to
try to get one of those guys, it's gonna be
the same sort of thing because they're gonna have to sell.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
The farm to get one of those players. You're giving
up a lot of top prospects, proven players and cash
on top of that.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Well, no you don't.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
You wouldn't do the cash because with Schoogle's deal, at
least you're you'd be looking to sign him after you Oh,
I see trade and sign situation.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Ah, I see. Okay, well that's better, but you're.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Going to have yourself locked in on your end. But
you got to give up so much.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
So uh, you know, Winter meetings will be here soon enough,
and we can.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
See how the White Sox and the Cubs are going
to fare as the you know, the off season continues.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
But you know what else you need right now?
Speaker 3 (20:37):
What Rockney five five, Chicago's rocks station. Always streaming online
rocknef five five dot com and follow us on social
media at morning mosh Pit.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
They're doing more studies on AI music. AI generated music.
We know is here. It's been floating around. We play
some music a little while ago, and I actually play
again today. Just test your ear out and see if
you can tell the difference. But in the study, seventy
one percent of participants in more than half where uncomfortable
(21:10):
that they could not tell the difference between music made
by people in AI.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
When we did the story before, I literally sent you
the links and then when you played it back, get
I said, oh, that's the AI band and I picked
the wrong one, right. It's the other thing is is people.
You know, when you think about it from the band's perspective,
they're like, well, we could do it this way, and
they might know. People are just going through their lives.
It's kind of like listening to radio. They're not sitting there.
They have things to do. There's kids screaming in the
(21:36):
back of the car. So if there's something that just
makes them tap their toe, they're never going to stop,
slow down and go, wait a minute, is this real?
Speaker 1 (21:43):
People?
Speaker 2 (21:43):
And there's there's been technological influence on music since we've
had it. Yeah, and then after you come out and say, oh, yeah,
we've been tuning this or tuning that. Unless you're a
classically trained singer, you're not going to pick up on
those no things.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Definitely not.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
There's stuff that we picked up on because we're listening
to music all day on a regular basis. So when
something's a little pitchy or it's not edited properly, we know.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
But it's like the extra finger on some of the
AI pictures. Yes you heard the song and you're like, no,
that was a little off.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
That gravity doesn't look like it's working properly, but I
do want to test the room. I'm going to play
you two tracks here. One is a real band and
the other is just AI. So here's the first one.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
I'm gonna dig that.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
So that's that's number one, eight four four ninety five
point fifty. Let us know if you think number one
is a I, here's number two.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
I only field.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
I would never ever know. And we, like you said,
we listen to music all the time. I was the
music director at a radio station. You play those back
to back for me, and I couldn't pick. I'd have
to just do fifty to fifty guests.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Oh who's your fifty to fifty guests? Oh jeez at
eight four four five fifty. If you think number two
is AI, textas and let us know, say.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Number one, I think number one is probably AI. I
think the voice sounded a little inauthentic to me.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
But number one is a band called Holding Absence. This
is a real band. So I did it backwards against
number two. Two is the AI band Bleeding Verse. Now.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
The similarities there is that Holding Absence believes that a
lot of what they do has been influenced on how
Bleeding Verse sounds.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Yeah right, And the story was that they were pissed
because Bleeding Versus now has more streams, has more attention,
more YouTube plays than even their band. But they were
the ones that sort of originated Well you can't say
they really originated that sound, but I can see what
they're saying.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
But again, you got two times in a row. I
got it wrong. Ye I knew.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Yes, you're the one that gave us the story originally.
So it's wild to think about. There are specific moments
where I can notice. But if I'm not really locked in,
or you introduced me to a new band and I'm
just listening, I'm telling you, I might get confused too.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Well, then you look at bands like like, how do
they do live shows? Well, look at bands like the Gorillas.
Look at bands that have done sort of things where
they cover their faces up or use screens or get creative.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
So the Gorillas, when they perform live, they make sure
you know it's live. Yeah, it is so good. When
I got to see the Gorillas live.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Well, what I would do is, if I was doing this,
I would go into the AI. I would figure out
how to produce this fake band, and then I would
hire studio musicians to go out and play the shows,
but do something where they're all in masks like slipknot
used to something like that where you can kind of
hide that person.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
But on the flip side, on the human side of it,
this is going to help separate the good artists. They're
amazing artists who you're gonna go out and when you
get that live performance, that is going to set them
apart from anything that AI can produce.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
One thing I noticed a little bit too, is the
AI lyrics are super boring, like they're very vague, kind
of like generics no motion to no exactly. So that's
kind of interesting but interesting. We'd love to hear from
you eight four, four, nine, five five than.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Now here's five or so things with meres Why does
he always drop his bands during this part of the show.
It's just more comfortable. Okay.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
I don't know if anybody has had the opportunity to
purchase a Bob Ross painting, but they are real auction
or actually they've been sold at auction.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Three paintings sold for over six thousand dollars at a
LA auction and in all of the funds are going
to PBS so.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Is their prints then, because there's no way I'm getting
one of those. That'd be so cool.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
You like, that's an og Bob Ross. Yes, seriously, and
it's just an iconic artist that we knew and grew
up with.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Yeah, and a sweet man, yes, or one seem that way.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
One painting went for over three three hundred thousand dollars,
another for over two hundred thousand dollars, in the last one.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Over one hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Gorgeous and in time they are going to auction off
more pieces to continue to help PBS.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Well, the guy's got to have a barn full of
these things. So it's all he did was painting. Episode.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
After an episode, it is officially iguana dropping out of
tree season.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
I got a friend in Miami. He said no, he
said it's scary. He said that actually people will get
knocked out because that you don't realize. The iguanas are
huge and when they freeze, they're heavy, and so they
drop and they'll knock you out.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Yes, So when the temperature dross below forty, they just
kind of to go into hyperstasis mode and they're not
paying attention, so they're falling out of trees. But they say,
right when it warms back up again, the iguanas will
be just fined.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
It's like seventy degrees too. It's sixty five degrees and
they're freezing. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Actually I ran into a guy who he was here
from Florida, but it was the same temperature from Chicago
as in Florida.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
I was like, a lucky you.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Yeah, that sounds nice. We finally have Olympics. We might
be able to compete in housekeeping. Olympics is happening right
now in Las Vegas. Is actually part of a bigger
trade show association for Cleaning and Facilities Solutions. They have
competitions in bed making, vacuuming, mopping, and a host of
other series.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
And oddly enough, I've.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
Seen some clips floating around the internet on this, but
it's the thirty fifth anniversary of this bad Boy.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
I never heard of it, really, No, I mean, have you? Yeah?
I saw I saw clips of it last year. Oka, Yeah,
I've never heard of it.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
It was one of those things where like they were
folding and turning down.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
The bed in an interesting way out whoa sa, I'm
running around trying to get the fittede sheet on like
it's like a race to get stuff done.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
Fat it's very cool.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
And on the way, we want to get you tickets
to see John Mullaney over at Wrigley Field on July eleventh.
That's gonna be with Fun to the Head eight four four, nine, five,
five ninety five fifty be Caller ten in Fun to
the Head.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
That's the trivia game where you answer questions.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
We get shot with nerf darts and h you take
one of us hostages, only Michael and myself today Marie
is out with them, so you can get these John
Mullaney tickets eight four four, five ninety five fifty beat
Caller ten to get in.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
And now Fun to the Head rock Dad, Yeah, don't worry.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
They're using nerve weapons. Are we speaking with Nicky?
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Nick? Wrong?
Speaker 1 (29:08):
One? Hold on there, here we go. We're doing good.
How are you doing today? Doing fantastic?
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Man?
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Good? We're married, you know, Oh, happily married. Shout out
the wife really quick, since you're so happy. It's there,
you go, palmer, apiciated lady.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
That's right, yes, yes, we'll look there back.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Glad to hear from you again. And you got John
Mulaney tickets. Mullaney Mullaney I am messing this one out,
John Mullaney.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Tickets up for grabs today, Nick, you know what to do?
Who do you want to pick as your hostage today
for fun to the head?
Speaker 1 (29:52):
All right, that's it. I keep messing this man's name up.
I deserve this. All right, here we go, John.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Mulaney of SNL stand up comedian, funny guy. All right,
let's see your question number one? What nineties band released
the song black Hole Sun?
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (30:09):
That would be Town Garden Boom one for one?
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Absolutely correct? There, Oh, this is a hard one. What
question number two? What is Freddie Mercury's real first name?
Speaker 1 (30:22):
That one? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know any
I can I have to help on that one? Yes,
you can't anymore. No, you can't. Yeah, you get up
one safe. I feel like I'm going to say this wrong.
You are safe for Roke. But f A R R
O K H. Yeah for Roke.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
I never knew that either. Okay, Freddy is much easier
to remember, man spell. Yes, So you're two for two?
Uh and one morning you got the tickets?
Speaker 1 (30:47):
How about this one?
Speaker 3 (30:48):
What famous nineteen sixty nine event was held on a
dairy farm in New York oh my god, he got
it all right, Well, all right, well you're going to
John mulaney, dude, oh buddy. By the way, I look
these tickets up yesterday the show sold out. You can
get tickets on the second hand market. What were they yesterday,
(31:10):
like the chiefest tickets two hundred bucks for the nosebleeds.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
You're going for free, yeah, John Mullaney, Yeah, you got
a pair. You can take that lovely wife for your
right of course, of course, there you go, yes, John Mullaney,
John Mullaney, John Mullaney, it's the show.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
We're giving tickets away too. Rickley, Nick, you are set up.
And as Michael mentioned that secondhand mark is going to
be brutaal, we got another pair to give away to
tomorrow with fun to the head.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
It is the morning mash bit on Rock ninety five five.
Thanks for joining us today. We are down one.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Maria is out with that a little sniffle snaffle, but
we got you today, Mikey.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Well, Veterans Day was Tuesday, yes, and I saw this list.
I'm surprised I didn't sye it on Tuesday. It probably
came out to rock stars who were in the military. Okay,
veteran rock stars. By the way, I just got to
give this guy a shout out. He would play drums
for Leonard Skinner in the mid seventies. But his name
is Artemis Pyle. That's which it might be the coolest.
That is a great rockstar name right there. Grateful dead icon.
(32:17):
Jerry Garcia says he was forced to join the army
in nineteen sixties, and then in nineteen sixty Johnny Cash
spent four years in the Air Force.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
When he was eighteen. Okay, that's kind of wild. BB King.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
According to the American Blues Scene, BB King had a
lot of farm work experience, and he joined the Army
at the end of World War Two, but then was
released because they felt his skills as a tractor driver
were more important for the economy. Wow, that's damn bb
You could drive the crap out of a tractor.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Boy. There's a whole lot that just happened there that
I've never heard before.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
That's kind of interesting. They're like, not, dog, you are
so good on the tractor. We need to plowing, help
feed people back home. Plans to help.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
You, I mean, come on.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Jason Everman, he played in Soundgarden and Nirvana briefly before
going into the military and serving multiple tours. John Fogerty
Creeden's Clearwater Revival drafted in nineteen sixty six. And some
of these are a little more interesting as we get
higher up on the list. Fred Durst two years in
the Navy. Huh yeah, but left at twenty to start
a career as a tattoo artist. That's kind of interesting.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
That's a very odd pivot. How do you just leave?
Don't you sign up?
Speaker 3 (33:25):
You can't really just leave unless you get an honorable
discharge or dishonorable Sure, there's ways, Maybe there's more to
that story. Yeah, maybe he just decided to break stuff.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
Consider Hey, it's not a bit. It's like for who
we know Fred as.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're talking about veteran rock stars. Elvis
Presley drafted at age twenty two to serve two years
in the active Army in four years in the reserves,
Iced Tea, I.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Would have never seen that one coming. How interesting.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
Iced Tea joined the military for its financial benefits after
you graduated high school in order to support his family.
Military dot com says he served four years while deployed
in Hawaii. Well listen, I may joined the military too.
If I'm going to Maui, that sounds awesome. I forget
they have a huge military base out there.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
Jimmy Hendricks, Jimmy's decision to enlist in the Army wasn't
completely by free will. It was either server or to
jail time. He was given an honorable discharge a year
into his three year term. And let's say he went
with the other.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
I was gonna say that that Star Spangled banner. Yeah,
hits a little bit differently now knowing that.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
And maybe the most current living rock star who was
a veteran Maynard, James Keenan James Herbert Keenan told MTV
joined the Army in hopes of eventually going to art school.
His military stint is where he picked up the name Maynard,
left the military and started a band called tool Hm.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
It's interesting. I just want to especially Fred Durst for
some reason, is probably the most shocking on that list.
The BB King story is very interesting. That's a cool story.
That is very interesting. But what jobs did you transition
to after the military. Yeah, that's interesting because we know
you have a lot of opportunities so when you get back,
but Yeah, let us know eight four four fifty Rock
(35:22):
ninety five five. Michael tees me with this one earlier.
I have been waiting all show to talk about this
iPhone item, Michael.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Is it a Christmas gift or a Christmas miss? Apple's
ridiculous iPhone pocket they have put out.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
No, no, no, no no.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Apple is selling a new accessory called the iPhone pocket,
which is basically a knitted case for your iPhone that
has a strap. Oh this is even worse than I
thought it is. And it is ugly too, that's the
other thing. Hang on, let me get a picture for you,
Maris Apple Pocket.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Yeah, pull one up. You got to see it because
I know you'll like. This is so stupid. Oh you're joking.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
It looks like a scarf sock mix that you can
wear over your shoulder, but you put your iPhone. It
doesn't really carry anything else. Just pick it up for
the phone. How much did they charge in the low
end version is one hundred and fifty dollars? What the
high end version is two hundred and thirty dollars?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Does it charge your phone while you have it in
this sock?
Speaker 3 (36:19):
Just a sock does absolutely nothing they're calling it the
iPhone pocket, part sock, part fashion accessory. The iPhone is.
It's a knitted pouch. Like we said, you can sling
it around your arm or on your bag or whatever
it is.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
I don't know. It almost seems like an April Fool's
Jay joke to me, Like I was whit, no, no,
what this is real nice.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
You've got multiple colors for you to wet the money on,
like it doesn't charge you're doing anything, It doesn't hold
your your pods.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
It just wow. Apple.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
I know we've been back and forth about like I'm
an Apple guy, your Samsung guy. I gotta be honest
with you. Apple needs to start being more innovative they are.
You came out with a sock, Oh this is what
you want standing around and went, you know what, Hey, hey,
I love it.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
I saw it on the floor. You know what, that's
a good idea, Apple.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Honestly, they got a yarn dealer and they had yellow, orange, purple, pink, teal, blue, brown,
and black, and they're like, what do we do with this.
Let's make out an iPhone holder that nobody's gonna want
to use.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
And charge them two hundred dollars for it.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
The cheap ones are shorter, that's the only difference, and
the long ones are longer with a little bit different colors.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Oh yeah, okay, So I'm looking at it, and one
you can kind of hold on your forearm, which it
means it's going to get stolen.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
That's how things get stolen.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
So they're gonna make you hold the longer one that
straps over your chest kind of like a fanny pack.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
But I could get you a fanny pack for thirty dollars, Michael,
and it will hold all your things.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Yes, you can hold so many other things in here
outside of your iPhone. But also the other thing with
this is it notifies people where your iPhone is.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
It's true, you know, if you see somebody wearing around it,
these are the people I'm gonna avoid. If I see
somebody wearing what, I'm gonna be like, oh, they're not
very smart with money.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Goodness.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
It is available starting today at Apple stores and after work,
I may walk over there and just look at one
to see how stupid they are, don't you.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
I will not buy one. I won't.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
No, I won't because then get you a fanny pack
for Christmas so you don't have to buy one.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
I literally have a chess bag because walking around the
city all the time, I have to urch stuff in
my pockets.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
I went on the way, so I got to stay
away from this. So you're good.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
But if you got an extra two hundred and thirty
dollars laying around and you want to sock for your iPhone,
they got you covered.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Hey, Samsung, thank you for never wasting my money.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
I'm gonna tell you about the best Black Friday deals
coming up next or right now. On Rock ninety five five,
Chicago's rock station. Maria really, I'm sorry, really, it's called you.
Maria Wow, Maris Wow. It looks like we might have
a lockout in the MLB.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
It's looming. And this is not next season. No, it
is not all next season.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
So the season that would be impacted would be the
twenty twenty seven a year because the agreement is up
between the owners the player I see, and they are
not connected on what's happening right now?
Speaker 1 (39:04):
What are some of the beefs?
Speaker 2 (39:05):
As we saw, the Dodgers have just been bank rolling
players to come and play to win championships and if
you got it, spend it, and that's what they've been
doing how did they do it? But there's also the
moneyball side of it, where there are teams that feel
like they have really good farm clubs which produces great players,
and they are keeping people or keeping their traff picks
(39:26):
on the team, so they have a lower amount.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Of money that they have to pay out to short players.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
So one of the sticking issues is that the owners
want to have a salary cap. There's no salary cap
in the MLB right now, so you can offer money
for people to come play and stay on your team.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
So you're telling me any a team could literally spend
any amount they want.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
Yes, that doesn't seem fair.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
It doesn't, but baseball is also a very lucrative sport.
We got one hundred and sixty two games eighty at home,
and by the time you get into Jersey sales and concessions,
you're you're gonna get your money.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
If you do it right. But you got to keep
people in the stadium.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
So one of the things that they're also talking about
is having a floor along with the salary caps.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
So some of these markets that are not spending enough
money to keep talent and for the fans to see
have a floor so that you are spending money to
keep people in the building, and they are on opposite
sides of that completely.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
Let me guess the owners don't want to spend money
and the players and the teams want the money.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
Yes, that is absolutely and that's essentially what it's gonna
come down to. And if you look at the playoffs,
most of the teams that made it, they're right there
at the top as far as spending money goes true,
and so there is correlation to spending gets results. But
you also have some of the smaller markets that just
(40:56):
can't dole out a tiny contracts on a regulars or
keep bringing in that talent, and there's not so much
talent to spread around. And the Dodgers when your backups
are as good as starting players on other teams, that's
where you begin to see a lot of issue.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Are they already negotiating on this, Probably they see what's.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
About to happen. Yeah, they know that this is going
to be a sticking issue. Now here's the thing. If
Toronto had won, they might have had a little bit
more time on the conversation. But because the Dodgers won
back to back and consecutively, have a big free agent
off seasons.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
It's the right on the wall.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
Yeah, but proving it basically, like, oh, you guys got
to prove it.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Okay, well, all right, there's a few other issues, but
this is going to be at the top of it.
But like I mentioned earlier, when you're looking at a
Schooble or a schemes who could be looking at a
long term contract, you really want to get that in
play now so that they can get paid and or
that another team doesn't come in with more money and
just pick them.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Up, right because if if either one of those players
ever hits free agency, just yeah, like a blank check.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
Right. But yeah, that's what's looming. It's in the background,
is not official yet.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
We got to get through winter meetings first, but we
also we got to get through ninety five.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
Minutes commercial free right now on Rock ninety five five,
Rock ninety five to five.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
That rooster, he's got one thousand dollars for you on
the way, But we want to basically spend your money
for you.
Speaker 3 (42:20):
Yeah, man, I'll tell you I could use a thousand
dollars with Black Friday right around the corner, man.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
And they are advertising the deals now and some of
the sales are happening right now. Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
I feel like I'm about to blow all my money
before i even get to Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
Well, I just moved into an apartment and I want
one of those like Florida ceiling mirrors just to make
sure the fit is looking good or whatever. I can't
believe I just said that, Yes, you did one of
these Black Friday deals or from Walmart two hundred dollars
full length mirror forty bucks.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
And like, for me, it's the brands that I shop
with regularly that are hitting me so like Lids and
Hat World.
Speaker 1 (42:54):
They're like oh.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
Yeah, yeah, ege for FORF and then there's a few
clothing brands that I like, like, oh yeah, eighty percent
off and I'm like, I need just wait eighty.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
Yeah, seriously eighty percent. And I'm just scrolling through Amazon
and I was like, oh, yeah, if you want an
electric toothbrush, and I was like, I don't need an
electric toothbus, but I need this deal right now. That's
the truth. You remember, did you ever do? Black Friday
has changed a lot? Right? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (43:20):
Mostly online now, Yes, you could still go to the stores,
but I feel like it's not like it was when
