Speaker 1 (00:07):
From WBZ News Radio in Boston. This is New England Weekend.
Each week we come together right here, we talk about
all the topics important to you and the place where
you live. It is so good to be back with
you again this week. I'm Nicole Davis. Many cities in
towns over the next few weeks are celebrating by creating
big spaces for people to come together, grab a few gifts,
(00:27):
eat the tasty food. You got to have that at
the holidays. Peabody has a phenomenal event planned downtown next weekend.
Amy Luckowitz is here from Granite Coast Brewing in Pebdy.
They're one of the many businesses working with the city
to get this all going. Amy, really good to have
you here on the show. And let's kind of go
down the list about what we have going on, because
I know there's a lot of activities kind of a
(00:48):
main hub on Main Street over the Nights of Columbus.
So give us some details what's happening here.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, for sure, mostly that is going to go on
over at the Nights of Columbus. They have a ball
pitch going on. They have reindeer games that's going to
be produced by Peavd Parks and Recreation an indoor snowball fight,
which sounds a lot of fun. The Tresian yc will
be doing something over there as well, and the library
is going to host story time with mister and Missus
Santa Claus.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Okay, and of course everything involving Christmas. You've got to
have the food tell us about some food options that
people might have.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Well. I think the most fun is going to be
the interaction for kids with the pb Police Department. Sergeant
Harkins is going to be hosting a hot dog and
Hamburger trolley, which is really fun. The rogueiro of Family
Memorial Home is hosting popcorn hot chocolate that's going to
be delicious. And there's going to be other things going
on all over the town cider, cookies and apples at
City Hall, something for everybody. It's going to be a
(01:42):
lot of snacks going on.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Yes, so don't eat a big meal before you go,
because you're going to walk it all off anyway. But yeah,
snacks are critical to any good.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Events, that's right, And there's also going to be the
Children's Museum is hosting a five dollars admission, so that's
a great deal.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
There is a trolley that's involved here, which is kind
of cool. Where does the trolley go and how much
do you have to pay?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
So it's going to be free. They're going to have
conductors on board storytelling, and I know that they're going
to be roaming around Main Street, but they're adding a
stop at the right at the library and so that
way you can get off to listen to the story
time with mister and missus Clause. They're going to have
that story time at one thirty, two thirty, and three thirty.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Okay. We have some dance performances as well, so you're
going to see all your neighbors coming in and shaking
their stuff and doing their thing too.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, the North Shore Dance Academy is going to be
at Courthouse Plaza doing dance performances throughout the day.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
And then the cool thing that I'm seeing here is
that PBDTV is going to be on the scene here
doing green screen activities. So what's going on with that.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
You're going to stand in front of a green screen
and act out a scene or take some photos and
they'll project images behind behind the participants.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
This all starts around one o'clock, but then The big
event I'm noticing here is over at City Hall a
tree lighting, So what can people expect?
Speaker 2 (02:52):
So they're going to be caroling, and I know some
characters are going to be making surprise appearances. The tree
lighting will start right at four thirty and it's a
really great unity event. Everybody gets around, they can sing together,
and they'll light up the tree right on City Hall Plaza.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
So Amy, obviously there's a lot going on around here.
The city is really coming out for this. What are
you most looking forward to?
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Oh, I'm definitely looking forward to the ornament bar that
Create an Escape is going to host. I've never been
to an ornament bar, diy, so I'm really excited about that.
I've just I've never done that before.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yeah, Nora have I I wonder what kind of ornament
you're going to pull together?
Speaker 2 (03:25):
There no idea, but I know that Wendy over there
in Pascal offer amazing creative opportunities, So I'm kind of
excited what they're going to create.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
To be honest with you, Well, if people want to
find out more information about who's involved, if they want
to help with all this, where can they go and
get that info?
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Sure, so they can go to the City of pbd's
Facebook page and under events, just click right on the
holiday stroll and you'll see a full listing. Over at
Granite Coast, we're going to have some fun activities going
on as well with live music. We're going to have
an ugly Sweater free raffle and yeah, I'll be that'll
be interesting. And we don't decide what's an ugly sweater.
You'll have to decide what the sweater. We'll also have
(04:01):
an elfie selfie station.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Ooh even better, Okay, cool. So if people want to
learn about Granite Coast, where can they go and do that.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Granitecoastbrewing dot Com and the best way to check it out.
All of our beers are listed there. But if you're
looking for events, click on the calendar.
