(00:00):
Miss McConnell says there's no excuse tonot continue to support Ukraine, but what
will it actually take to get theAmerican people on board with that agenda?
Plus Hunter Biden may finally be facingserious charges from Special counsel Weiss, And
we'll examine one of the most facepalm worthy examples of catfishing that I have
ever seen on the Internet. Let'sjump right in. In a world that's

(00:21):
constantly buzzing with updates, it's easyto feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of
headlines and information. That's why I'mhere to help you navigate the endless waves
of day to day updates. I'mEthan Buchanan and this his Newswave. Alrighty,
good morning, afternoon, and evening, everybody, Welcome back into Newswave.

(00:43):
You know, there's a lot goingon here in the United States right
now. We've got record high inflation. We've got record high gas prices,
well not record high right now,but they're still pretty high. They've been
record high over the last how longis Joe Banaman office? Three years?
And now we're sitting nationally at aboutthree eighty. That's the triple A national
average, which is quite a lot. I'm old enough to remember, like

(01:06):
a buck fifty a gallon, andhere in my homestead of Texas where we're
rocking with a solid three thirty sevena gallon, which is still not great
because once again I remember a dollarfifty a gallon. And of course we've
got the illegal immigration crisis that's notshowing any signs of slowing down. Just
recently, the buoy along the RioGrand River that Governor Greg Abbott had put

(01:29):
up was ordered to be taken downby the federal judges or whatever. Greg
Abbott is of course appealing that,so we'll see where that goes. My
fingers are crossed that that will makeit all the way to the Supreme Court.
That's what I want. I wantan all out Supreme Court battle over
how far the state's rights to defendtheir borders extends, because of course,

(01:52):
our state constitution guarantees us the powerto do that. And so we'll kind
of see. The Feds don't wantus to secure our order for God only
knows what reason, but Greg Abbottwants to secure the border, and we'll
see who wins. We, inmy opinion, have the right to defend
our borders via just about any meansnecessary, because that's what our constitution says.

(02:13):
But we'll see how that lawsuit endsup playing out. Like I said,
fingers cross, it goes to theSupreme Court. But yeah, there's
a lot going on in the UnitedStates right now. There's a lot to
be paying attention to just here athome. But despite all that, for
some reason, there are those onboth sides of the political aisle that would
rather us be paying attention to what'sgoing on in other countries, for example

(02:35):
Ukraine. Here's an article from theWashington Post. Mitch McConnell says, there's
quote no excuse to not support moreUkraine aid, says here send a minority
leader. Mitch McConnell, Republican fromKentucky, urged lawmakers wednesday to continue supporting
Ukraine, more than a year anda half after Russian President Vladimir Putin lost
a full scale invasion of the country, and as some Republicans have wavered in

(02:59):
their commitment to send aid. Quotesince Putin's escalation in Ukraine, President Biden
has not been as decisive as manyof us would have preferred, McConnell said
in remarks on the Senate floor,But This is no excuse for Congress to
compound his administration's failures with failures ofour own, says Congress is currently weighing
a roughly forty billion dollars supplemental fundingrequest that was put forward last month by

(03:20):
the Biden administration that includes aid forUkraine, border security and domestic disaster relief.
About half of the funding would gotowards new military aid and additional economic,
humanitarian and security assistance for Ukraine.Yeah, I'm definitely right now,
very friendly to the argument that weare doing way more than our fair share
in order to kind of prop thesepeople up. Definitely full props to all

(03:45):
the other European countries that have beenkind of helping out and giving Ukraine weapons
and whatnot, But we have beengiving them quite a bit of money,
and we have quite a few ofour own problems here at home that we
kind of should be dealing with. And more and more you're kind of seeing
the America. Can people start todevelop that attitude, especially more on the
right. And so one of thequestions that we really have to be asking

(04:05):
now is do we have an endgoal for Ukraine. We need to be
having a discussion about what we're actuallyshooting for because like we can't just say,
oh, shoot for the stars andhope for the best. We need
like a concrete, step by stepwe need to get here. We need
to get here, We need toget here, and then we can be
done with this whole mess, thiswhole war. But right now we don't

(04:28):
have that. The only goal rightnow is just keep fighting. That's not
a good incentive structure, that's notsustainable. Forgive me for over dumbing everything
down, but imagine if you will, since football season just kicked off yesterday,
I'm super excited about that. Imagineif you had two head coaches get
together for a football game and theyjust said, Okay, our goal for

(04:51):
this game is just to play asmuch football as possible. But no,
that would be ridiculous. When youplay a football game, you have a
very set structure of how the gameis going to go and what achievements constitute
a victory. And it used tobe that in war you have the same
thing. When a country went towar with another country, they had a

(05:13):
specific goal that was laid out,and right now we don't really have that
now. The reason that I saywe don't have goals in this war is
because, I mean, from theAmerican perspective, we've already achieved what we
want to achieve, right, We'veeffectively cut the Russian military in half,
and even more than that. Now. I don't know what the casualty numbers
are lately, but Russia has beendealt a heavy blow and that definitely benefits

(05:39):
us on a geopolitical global scale. And it didn't cost us any American lives
to do it, which is alwaysgreat. So we've achieved our goal.
We should be done. Ukraine's goalof kick Russia completely out of all of
Ukraine, including Crimea and dawn Bass, and then Russia's goal is conquer all
of Ukraine. Of course, neitherof those things are ever going to happen.

(06:01):
Putin is not in a position wherehe's going to give up without having
something that he can say, look, I won this, we won something,
And of course Vladimir Zelenski now hasno motivation at all to give up
in any sort of way. Toput it into Layman's terms for you,
the structures are now set up sothat Putin is motivated to not walk away

(06:27):
until he has something, and Zelenskiis motivated to not let putin walk away
with anything at all, and sothat puts us in a situation where this
is never going to end. Ever, so how do you get the American
people, If your goal is toget the American people on board with more
of this, how do you facilitatethat? Well, first of all,
you've got to give the American peoplerealistic end goals. You've got to say,

(06:50):
hey, this is what we areshooting for. And then you have
got to say, here's how we'regoing to fix the problems of the past,
such as we don't know where thismoney is going. The American people
aren't going to sign off on moremoney, and they're just going to keep
getting sicker and sicker and sicker andsicker of giving the Ukrainian people money if
we don't even know if it's beingused for what it's supposed to be being

(07:14):
used for. We are meant tojust sit and sign off on the government
sending billions of dollars to Ukraine, especially now that we're seeing more and more
come out with Hunter Biden and JoeBiden and it kind of looks like maybe
now they're in bed with the Ukrainiansand we're supposed to just sit and let
billions of tax dollars be sent overto Ukraine, which has long been known

(07:36):
as an incredibly corrupt nation. Andmeanwhile, we've got stuff back at home
that we could be using that moneyin military equipment for. So why is
it all going to Ukraine. It'sstarting more and more to look like it's
all going to Ukraine because the Ukrainianspaid Joe and Hunter Biden a crap ton

(07:58):
of money. The longer you sitand look at this, the more corrupt
it looks, which is why we'restarting to see more and more the American
people, specifically the Republican side ofthe aisle, is getting sick of it.
So if you're Mitch McConnell and youwant to bring the mainstream Republican base
back on board with the whole Ukrainething, how do you go about it?

(08:18):
Well, it's going to take twomajor things, and the first one
is we've got to have some fiscaloversight here. We have got to know,
for what certain that the money weare sending them is going exactly where
we're telling them to put it,and it's going exactly where they're saying it's
being put. This whole just trustme, bro On our system that we've

(08:39):
been working off for the last yearand a half. It's not going to
keep working forever because the American peopleare wise to it. Now. We
know that this money is being sentplaces that it shouldn't be, which is
why a bunch of top Ukrainian officials, including like I think the war minister.
Yeah, the Ukrainian Defense minister justgot basically pushed out by Vladimir Zelenski

(09:03):
for skimming some off the top.I don't know. I'm not one percent
for sure that Zelenski hasn't been skimmingsome off the top. There's just no
way to know that for sure becausewe have no oversight. We're just completely
taking the Ukrainians word for this whilewe just throw billions and billions of dollars
at them. So, yeah, the first thing is fiscal oversight. That's
the first thing you gotta do toget the kind of Republican base back on

(09:26):
board with this. And second ofall, we need to know what the
actual end goal is. It's clearPrutent's not going to surrender. We know
that. I mean, he's evenbeen putting like ballistic missiles and stuff on
like strategic locations, and this isstuff that like carry nukes, and he's
talked about nukes before, and nowhe's meeting with the Kim Jong n and

(09:46):
North Korea talking about bringing him moreweapons from North Korea. So we know
he's willing to escalate this as faras he needs to in order to win.
And we know that Zelensky's not goingto give up either, because literally,
why would He has no reason togive up at all. I mean,
everything is stacked in favor of himcontinuing to fight. The world loves

(10:07):
him. He's gotten so much goodmedia attention and press coverage that everybody just
overnight managed to magically forget the factthat Ukraine was widely considered by the entire
world to be one of the mostcorrupt countries in the world right up until
this war started, and all ofa sudden, the only media coverage of
Vladimir Selinsky that's allowed is positive stuff. So what really needs to happen here

(10:33):
is the United States needs to stepin and say, Okay, listen,
you're gonna have to let him haveCrimea, You're gonna have to let him
have don Bass. There's no wayyou get him out. And if he
feels like he's starting to lose that, there's a pretty solid chance that he's
just going to start busting out thenukes, which nobody wants. So we're
gonna have to broker some concessions toRussia from Ukraine. And I know that's

(10:56):
like a super controversial opinion, butis there another way out unless you want
to just keep fighting forever. Thatreally is just our only option because you
have got to make Vladimir Putin feellike he's saved face. You have got
to make him feel like he hassomething that he can go back and say,
oh, yes, look at whatI run from the Ukrainians. This

(11:20):
is our us. Now we aremighty yes. Because if he doesn't have
that, he's just gonna start throwingnukes. He doesn't care. So yeah,
we've got to figure out what theoff ramp here is for Putin,
and then we've got to figure outhow to actually make sure that the money
that we're sending them isn't just goingin to officials pockets. And until those
two things happen, the Republican baseis never really going to be on board

(11:45):
with sending more and more stuff intoUkraine. But yeah, as always,
let's just kind of cross our fingersand hope for the best. This war
seems to be going a whole lotof nowhere fast, So let's let's let's
hope there's some positive change in thatkind of Eastern European region, because as
of right now it's not looking great. But anyway, with that out of

(12:05):
the way, I do want tokind of talk about Hunter Biden's legal troubles
because, as it turns out, that might actually be heating up, that
might actually be going somewhere. DavidWeiss, who was the prosecutor in that
case that kind of gave Hunter thatsweetheart deal that then fell apart and the
judge kind of blew that up.He was then appointed to be the special
counsel in that case. And therewas a lot of assumption that David Weiss

(12:30):
being appointed this special counsel wasn't actuallygoing to go anywhere because he was just
going to try to give him anothersweetheart deal. Well, as it turns
out, we now have some indictmentsprobably coming down on Hunter Biden. Now
Here we go from Daily Wires specialcounsel David Weiss to indict Hunter Biden,
filing says Special count sold. DavidWeiss said in a New Court filing this

(12:50):
week that President Joe Biden's son HunterBiden, will be indicted this month.
Quote. The Speedy Trial Act requiresthat the government obtained the return of an
indictment by a grand jury by rightSeptember twenty nine, twenty twenty three,
at the earliest. Why said inthe filing the government intends to seek the
return of an indictment with this casebefore that date. While the exact charges
were not revealed in the court filing, CNN reported that they are gun related

(13:13):
charges. Additional charges related to HunterBiden's taxes or foreign business dealings which have
been part of the criminal investigation untohim, could be included or come at
a later date. So I believethat that would be in reference to the
ATF form that he lied about whenhe said that he wasn't on any drugs

(13:35):
when he filled out the form toget a gun permit, which lying on
that ATF form is a pretty bigdeal. It's it's a felony. But
of course that would also sort ofimply the necessity of drug charges as well,
because if he's lying on the ATFform saying he's not on drugs,
that means he is on drugs. And we have plenty of evidence for it.
It's all over the internet. It'snot hard to find. Just google

(13:58):
Hunter Biden hard drive and we'll seethe pictures of Hunter Biden doing crack cocaine,
which, in case you didn't know, is illegal everywhere in the United
States. So you kind of haveto assume that if David Weiss is going
to go this route, that hewill of course include possession of cocaine charges
and use of cocaine charges. Butof course that's all up in the air.

(14:22):
We really don't know where this isgoing to go until it actually gets
there. You do, of course, have to take all of this with
a grain of salt, just becauseof the favoritism that has already been shown
to Hunter Biden. Just right herein the article, it says Weiss,
before he was appointed as special counselin the case, was originally willing to
quote forego any prosecution of Hunter Biden, and was close to quote agreeing to

(14:45):
the end of the investigation without requiringa guilty plea on any charges, according
to the New York Times. Sowe have already seen a lot of kind
of favoritism towards Hunter Biden. Butof course that was caught, they were
called out on it. There wasa lot of uproar in the conservative media
world about this plea deal that hewas about to get before the judge started

(15:07):
questioning people about it, and allthat kind of came out to the open,
and then the plea deal fell apart. So that may have led to
why it's just being like, Okay, screw it, We're going all out.
I'm actually going to prosecute this guy. But you never really know.
There's been reports about how Weiss waslike close to one of Hunter's brothers at
one point, So we'll see ifhe ends up getting some actual favoritism or

(15:28):
if there's actually some real justice herethat happens and Hunter Biden actually faces the
consequences of those crimes. And ofcourse that could always if things go deeper,
If we start to see more chargesinvolving the kind of financial crimes that
he may or may not have committedwith regards to the money he had coming
in from other companies and was funnelinginto other members of his family, that

(15:52):
may result in us seeing some morepressure being put on Joe Biden, and
we might actually see some impeachment comingfor Joe Biden. Here. We talked
about that a little bit on Wednesday. There's some pressure starting to heat up,
and Joe Biden feels the need tostaff up his White House with a
kind of impeachment war room. Sowe may actually see something come of this,

(16:14):
but of course there's always the prettysignificant chance that is just going to
turn into a nothing burger. Wewill, of course see, only time
will tell for sure. All right, that's gonna do it for the news
today, And now we're gonna justslide right into stuff that I saw online.
Alrighty, get ready to learn howtruly terrible an adult human beings judgment

(16:37):
can actually really be. This articleis from the Cosmopolitan quote Stranger Things fan
Leave's husband sends ten thousand dollars toa catfish claiming to be Decray Montgomery.
So, if you're not familiar toDecray Montgomery is one of the cast members
of Stranger Things. He played theBilly character in I don't like Season three.
I haven't watched in a while.I'm not to date on my Stranger

(17:00):
Things. But anyway, the pointof your being this lady left her husband
and sent ten thousand dollars to ascammer who catfished her as the star of
a Netflix horror show. Now,so let's dig into it here. One
Stranger Things fan is opening up publiclyabout being the victim of catfishing by a

(17:21):
scammer pretending to be actor Decray Montgomery, who plays Billy Hargrove on Stranger Things.
Mikayla, a single mom from Kentucky. Hold on Mikayla, who is
now a single mom from Kentucky. At the beginning of the story, she
was not a single mom from Kentucky. Now she is a single mom from
Kentucky shared her story on the CatfishedYouTube series She's See. She says she

(17:45):
met the scammer in an online forumfor artists and he told her he was
Decray Montgomery. Let me just realquick insert if you're ever on an online
forum for anyone and somebody tells you, oh, yeah, I'm thissen this
celebrity. No, they're not, they're not. These celebrities are not on
these forums. They just aren't.The Only time where you can have a

(18:08):
celebrity or a person on a forumclaiming to be a celebrity with any sort
of legitimacy is maybe the Reddit askedme anything pages maybe, but anyway,
the article says Decrey happens to beone of Michaela's favorite actors. She was
skepticals of his identity at first, which is good. I'm glad she didn't
immediately just completely buy into the factthat this guy was Decray Montgomery. He

(18:33):
at least had to verify this alittle bit for her. She says,
me and him just really hit itoff, of course, but I'm suspicious
from the get go until he startsdoing things that make me believe that he
is who he is. So youthink he must have done something pretty convincing,
right, because up to this pointin the article, this seems to
be like a pretty reasonable woman, right. She seems to, you know,
have her wits about you. Sheknows what's going on. She's suspicious

(18:56):
of this guy. So what didhe do to vince her beyond a shadow
of a doubt that he was worthyof her leaving her husband and giving him
ten thousand dollars. Well, itsays she eventually believed it really was de
Craye after he told her specifically towatch Stranger Things season four, episode four
before the season permiered. You knowthe one It's called Dear Billy, and

(19:18):
it features de Craye's character return.Sorry if that's a spoiler for you,
if you're into Stranger Things and youhaven't seen it yet, I don't really
care that much, so spoiler there. It is. My bad if it
was late. But anyway, that'sall it took for this lady was a
minor spoiler. I don't know howmuch you the listener know about just the

(19:38):
entertainment world, but it's not difficultto find leaks for just about anything,
really, any major project, unlessthe studio producing it does like a whole
lot of work to keep things underwrap. Nine times out of ten,
major plot points like that end upgetting leaked well before the show or the
movie or whatever it is act endsup coming out. So that really should

(20:03):
not have been enough to convince herof this. She should have just gone
and googled that, and she wouldhave inevitably saw that that plot point had
been leaked, and that should haveraised more red flags for her. But
apparently not. Apparently not so itsays he showed up in that episode MICHAELI
said, and I was like, well, who else would have known that?
The entire internet would have known, the entire internet. It also says

(20:29):
the scammer would send her poems thatmatched de Craye's writing style from his twenty
twenty poetry book dk MH Poems bydecray Montgomery. So that's all it takes,
Fellas. If you want a singlemom in ten thousand dollars, some
basic plot leaks from a popular Netflixshow, and some crappy poetry, and
that's it, you're in. Michaelasaid that in their time talking, Decraye

(20:52):
told her quote unquote, Decraye toldher he was having issues with his girlfriend,
model Live Pollock because she was controlling. Michaela told him that she was
in pretty much the same situation withher now ex husband, and that the
experience bonded her to the scammer.Being a scammer has never looked so easy
from the outside, Just like,is this really all it takes? There's

(21:17):
no way that women these days arethat gullible, like good grief. After
fully a year of talking online, quote unquote, de Craye asked Michaela to
be his girlfriend, although the twonever actually met in person. All right,
ladies, fellas, everyone in theaudience, do not, ever,

(21:37):
for any reason at all, atany point ask anyone ever to be your
boyfriend or girlfriend without knowing them verywell and having like, Actually, if
you haven't met this person in personand known each other in like a real
life setting for a decent amount oftime, don't ask them to be your
girlfriend. Like I feel like thenormalization of online dating, which nothing against

(22:03):
online dating, it works for alot of people. I know people who
have developed very healthy relationships with peoplethat they truly love and care about the
online dating. However, every singleone of those persons actually went and met
the person they are now in arelationship with in real life, rather than
them just pinky promising that they arewho they say they are and then leaving

(22:26):
their life and giving ten thousand dollarsto this random person. Don't do that.
It's not a smart idea. Eventually, the catfish gave michaelan ultimatum she
had to choose between him or herhusband, and michaela didn't choose her husband.
That right there is where everything startsto fall apart. This, at

(22:48):
the end of the day, isjust a case of this woman not being
a very good wife. If theissue in your relationship, as this article
says, is just your husband orwhatever being more trolling. Then that's something
that you need to actually discuss withthem rather than just leaving them and then
giving a stranger ten thousand dollars. There's better ways to resolve that issue rather

(23:15):
than this. He said, Listen, it's not working out. You're not
letting me be me. You're notletting me be free. I said,
I need you to leave. That'swhat she said to her now ex husband.
Not only did Michaela leave her husbandfor a liar, but she also
sent de Cray about ten thousand dollarsagain, quote unquote de craye. Anytime
you hear me say de craye, that's in quotation marks, because obviously this

(23:36):
isn't the real de Cray Montgomery. She sent de cray about ten thousand dollars
after he said his girlfriend was alsoin control of his bank accounts, tricking
her into funding his life for ayear. The series Catfish found out that
Michaela was dealing with an impostor afterthey did a reverse image church on the
check and found out that several otherfake checks with the same signature online.
They helped determine Michaela was being scammedby a romance scammer. Someone who starts

(24:00):
a fake relationship with a vulnerable persononline to eventually steal from them. Now,
I wonder how much of this maritalissues between Michaela and her husband was
stuff that this scammer had kind ofconvinced her or talked her into. How
much of this was him kind ofconvincing her that she was having relationship problems,

(24:26):
convincing her that she was being controlled, in order to then pry her
out of her husband's hands and getten thousand dollars from her. So I
guess the moral of the story hereis if you feel like you're having relationship
problems, talk about them with theperson you're in a relationship with, talk

(24:47):
about when with your spouse, yourboyfriend, your girlfriend. Don't talk about
them with Decray Montgomery on the internet, and definitely don't leave your marriage and
send ten thous and dollars to thisrandom knucklehead on the internet. Honestly,
all I can say is this iskind of karma. This is this is
kind of karma, because if youjust leave your husband and send out ten

(25:11):
thousand dollars to random strangers on theinternet of what I have to assume was
joint money, I mean they weremarried, they have kids. You have
to assume the story doesn't say,but you have to assume that they had
a joint bank account and that thiswas both their money, which means this
husband here has got some pretty strongstanding to sue. So this might end

(25:33):
up being a payout for the exhusband here. But yeah, this words
cannot describe how poor of a choicethat this Mikhaela Parson made, and at
best she is unbelievably gullible at best. Anyway, that's enough of that.
Let's go ahead and jump now rightinto random recommendations. Alrighty, so today

(26:00):
on random recommendations, you guys knowby now that I love kind of folky
blue grass types of music. That'ssome of my favorite types of music.
So there's this band called The CleverLeaves. They've been around for a while
and they do a lot of likemodern pop songs, but bluegrass, which
that's something that a genre switches onmusic when they're done well, are some

(26:25):
of my favorite things in the world. And especially if it's a genre switch
from any genre into blue grass.I lose my mind over that they've got
a really good version of five thousandor five hundred miles. I would walk
five hundred miles I walk. Theirversion of that is amazing. If you're
familiar with the song Blue from thenineties with that little alien I'm Blue Dabbadi

(26:48):
Dabodi, they do a version ofthat, which that just cracks me up.
But dude, they've got everything. They've got some Beyonce songs, some
Taylor Swift songs that they've covered, and then their version of No Dignity,
which is also a mash up withthat mackelmore song thrift Shop. I love
that song so much, and theother added bonuses. They make all their

(27:10):
music clean, so words that theyneed to censor, they'll they'll kind of
like switch out with other words. It's like if kids Bop wasn't terrible and
bluegrass and it's it's amazing. Ilove this band so much. Every time
they drop a new song, theirlatest song Hillbilly Highway. I don't know

(27:30):
if that's a cover, if that'san original, or what, but I
really enjoy that song. It's reallygood. It's very catchy, very upbeat.
Basically, any song that has aviolin and a banjo in I'm sold.
And every single song they do hasa violin and a banjo in it.
Their version of Low the Shady hadthem apple bottom jeans. That song

(27:55):
their version of I don't want togive you any spoilers. I'm not gonna
tell you too much about it.Just go look it up, listen to
it. They're on Apple Music,They're on Spotify. I highly recommend this
band because, if nothing else,it's hilarious. But I actually really enjoy
this style of music, so Icould sit and listen to these guys for
hours. I was driving across Louisianaand I was just blasting this band.

(28:18):
Ten out of ten recommend it.You can't go wrong with these guys.
