Hamilton's has two locations in Auburn. There is Hamilton's Restaurant
on Magnolia. There's Hamilton's Restaurant on Ogle Tree Ogle Tree,
two fine places to dine. Auburn travels to Enterprise tonight
to take on the Wildcats.

twenty six, and Dothan twenty eight twenty one.

How are y'all man good? We're good. It's good to
hear from you. Ben. You all good?

Yeah? Absolutely, Thanks for having me on this morning.

Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah, I'm sorry that I will sleep at the wheel
yesterday and didn't text you yesterday, So thank you for
accepting it. Or you knew I'd be reaching out, You
knew that, So all right? You ready tonight?

Coach?

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Well, it's a good thing I don't have to play.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
I no, I guess I should have said, are your
boys ready?

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah? I mean, we've had a good week of practice,
you know, so I think our kids are lost in
and ready to practice, ready to play.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
All right, So Auburn had a just a sloby knocker
last week with Oplaika twenty eight twenty one.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
You've seen that game.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
I'm sure you had a heck of a game last
week twenty eight twenty one with Dothan. I don't know
the specific specifics of the game, but I would imagine
it would be.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
A good one.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Talk about Auburn first, coach, tell me what you see
in Auburn High School?

Speaker 2 (01:35):
From Ben Blackman, the head coach at Enterprise.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yeah, I think they off first off, offensively, I think
they got a quarterback, don't make a lot of mistakes.
It's rid of the ball real quick, has really good
talented receivers to throw the ball to in the offensive,
blank football, and probably going to face one of the
best backs in our region this week. He this kid's

(01:59):
pretty special running back. So offensively, they they they are
really really kicking. They're scoring a lot of points, so
it'll be definitely be a challenge for us. UH. Defensively,
the flip sides the ball and they're they're really really

strong at the point of attack. Their linebackers fit really
really well. They know exactly what they're doing, they're well coached,
and they play extremely hard, you know, and they're they're
pretty long in the secondary, uh and very athletic. So
we'll have to find a way to manufacture some runs

and and be able to throw the ball a little bit.
But I think the key to this game is going
to be, like it is anything that's a close contest, is, uh,
the team that makes the least amount of mistakes in
terms of penalties and turnovers and uh, negative players I
think will be visited the wines.

Yeah, I think you're right.

We're talking with Enterprise Wildcat football coach Ben Blackman.

Jeff and I was at along with about seven thousand
other people. Coach was at the Auburn game. An OPA
like a game last week, Head coach, you nailed it.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Auburn has a very good every time opal like a
seemed to get the edge man, they answered, and they
answered in a hurry.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
I guess you were able to see that.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
That's that's what amazed me, coaches, how quick Auburn was
able or not, just how they responded to that, to
the cat to the bail every time.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yep. Yeah, you know, they found themselves down and then
got to you know, got a score, tied it up
on a big post route and then you know, got
a defensive stop and go back out and score again
to go up.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
So let's look at your team, coach, and real quick,
it's coach, has been a while since gosh, probably two
twenty sixteen or seventeen last time I've been to you.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Are y'all turf? Now? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:00):

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Okay, all right, I was just good a couple of
years since you've been.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
There, right, coach, Yeah, it's the curse, been here the
entire time I've been here.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Okay, Yeah, So all right, let's look at your team, coach.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Thirty five points, twenty four points, twenty eight Discord give
up twenty one last week to Dothan, which is understandable.
Tell the listeners, tell us about your team. You, from
what I know, you always played good football.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
You have a great athlete at quarterback.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
You played you know, base football, good defense, punt when
you're supposed to, and and win a lot of games.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Well, you know, we're playing really well on the defensive
side of the ball. We gave up twenty one points
last week, but one of us is on a pop
a block punt right before the half that they fell
on and got into the end zone. So we really
only gave up fourteen Defensively, you know, and when you

(04:54):
play the single wing offense and Dothan, you're gonna, you're
gonna your eyes got to be right every play. They's
so many misdirections in places and that they pop one
or two here. So it's a unique style of offense
that you gotta prepare for. You really start preparing forward
over the summer and that kind of stuff. Defensively, we

have nine seniors, two juniors.

Speaker 5 (05:19):

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Pretty pretty pretty good unit for us.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
You know.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
They run, they play their keys, they play their responsibility,
you know, and coach Stnaker does a good job of
getting us in the right situation, in the right calls.
Like I said, he's been with me for fifteen years,
so it's a good situation that I trust him and

(05:45):
I know he's he's gonna do everything you can to
put us in the right situation. Offensively, we got a
quarterback that's growing each week. He's getting better each week.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
Last week, we we were in a situation where it
was the constant rain the ole night and the passing
game was kind of limited, but we we did throw
three touchdown passes against Osans, so.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
He's playing well. We've got a very veteran offensive line.
We have five seniors and two juniors that have played
every all have played on the offensive line of seven
guys that will rotate and then you know, receiving lines

(06:34):
we'll play. We'll play Eric Winners, the kid committed to Auburn,
We'll play him on both signs. And Andrew Pursull he's
committed to Kentucky. We'll play him on both sides of
the ball as well, and try to find ways to
get them in the ball.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
I was like, you got some player playmakers their coach,
you're we've got a few. Yeah. Your quarterback is this
is this? You know who did you say was going
to play quarterback?

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Mason Burkehart?

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Did he play there? Who played quarterback last year? Coach?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Eric Winners played quarter That's.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
What I thought. That's what I thought. I was. You know,
so he's you don't you don't play him there?

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Now he's not in the full time quarterback. We play
him on defense and a wide receiver. We play him
both sides of the ball.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Okay, good deal.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
What about your special team special teams?

Speaker 3 (07:24):
You know, we we have done a pretty decent job
special teams. But like I said, we gave up a
block punt last week was really frustrating. But got a
little kicker that can kick it. You know, he made
a field goal from forty yards against Pike Road. And

so we're feel comfortable if we get it inside the
red zone that we got a shot to take a
shot at a field goal. And you know, we just
we got to be more efficient in the kickoff game
and and and not give up punk blocks.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, those are easy. You kenet go up cheap points?
Can you coach?

Speaker 5 (08:04):
No?

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Yeah, this game right here? How do you I know
we talked about Eli. How do you see it going?

Speaker 2 (08:07):
You know the key?

Speaker 1 (08:08):
You know, I know you got all the little cliches,
but win this football game.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
What you got to do, coach?

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Well, the win this football game. I think it's gonna
have to be one up front. I mean on both
sides of the ball. And you know we've got to
be able to establish a ground game and and get
some big plays. The last two years we've played Alburn,
we haven't done well offensively. Rules He's done a great
job defending us, and uh you know, so that that'll

(08:36):
be a challenge then, you know, defensively, we have to
stop the running game and and try to pressure the
quarterback a little bit.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, they're senior quarterback. He's he's he's poised. Coach good,
he's good.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
He is, Yeah, good player.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
He really he played so good last week in my opinion,
you know, in that big atmosphere.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
How was that game? Coach was?

Speaker 1 (08:59):
There are a lot of penalties in that over there
and oth and out of that game. Go just looking
at me. Ye, that that's what I figured. It's just
never mind. I'm not gonna go down that road. Go ahead,
Jeff you.

Don't want to.

I just I shouldn't have brought that up. But you
feel good about your team, coach like normal?

Speaker 3 (09:20):
I do?

I like. I like her team. I like her kids attitude.
I like how they're they come to work every day
and they find a way to get better.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
And uh so good, good is your son playing Kates
playing anywhere right now?

I's yeah, Kates are starting tighty end.

Speaker 2 (09:38):

He's having a good year.

Yeah, now he's junior. Yeah, there you go. Takes me
a minute, Coach, I gotta gotta catch up.
