Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gentlemen, time to go to the Hamilton's Hotline to talk
none other than our favorite sport, football, and we're gonna
talk little Auburn rasty football. And with that we go

(00:21):
to the Hamilton's Hotline with two locations of serve you
on Magnolia and ogle Tree to bring in Jason Carwell
Auburn Undercover dot Com to talk about them Auburn Tigers,
a part of the two four seven network. Good morning, Jason.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
One d Mark.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Are you I'm good? I'm good. How's everything in your world?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
A going good? Just? Uh, like I said, it's a
last week of high school regular season and Halloween and
everything going on this weekend, so it's gonna be a
bus a few days for sure.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
We talk about Auburn on here every Wednesday. But you
cover high school football just about when you can on Fridays,
don't you, Jason, You cover athles.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Don't you do a lot of it? You know what's
crazy one this week is is that there's hardly anybody
playing this week with the way this thing falls now
that everybody takes that that off week on the last week,
so there's not a whole lot of not a whole
lot of action this weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
I know, I'd tell my grandson d didn't quite understand
that no local game to come to. So but anyway,
the Tiger's got that w last week of well needed
W at Arkansas at ARC.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, they did, you know, and and uh, the way
it happened to was probably the best case scenario where
you know, obviously you'd like to win fifty to nothing,
but man, they had to They had to find a
way to win, and that was they had not been
able to do that for for much of the last
three years. To find a way like that, and defense

(01:50):
picked it up just enough. Offense out you know, has
a has a really big day kicking. So I thought
it was important to find a way just to find
a way to win one I thought was pretty good
for them.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, I did, and he had six field goals. I
heard some stories about him going to see coach. I
don't know how to do that was or anything, but
I think that was important that he had a good
day for him. I'm proud for him for that.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yes, No, he did. He Uh we talked to he
Saturday and then Alex you know said, yeah that he
went to his office, you know, last Monday and said
that he apologized that he lost the game, and he said,
now that you know that wasn't the case that he
believed and he trusts him. And of course then he
come back and and have have to have it on
Saturday to win. And he responded, so, yeah, it was

(02:33):
a you know, one of the things that I talked
about this week too. I said, look, you know it
hasn't gone great, but man, this team hasn't stopped playing.
They continue to fight. The coaches are getting a lot
out of these guys, and that says something in this
day and age. It's it's easy when you once you
get out the playoff race to to kind of roll over,

(02:55):
and and they haven't done that. Uh and and so
got to give a lot of credit to them for
a mean to to kind of stay out there in battle.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
You know what. I agree, that's a good statement, Jesson.
I agree because I have a lot of people come
up to me and everything, and everybody does what about freeze?
What do you think about freeze? Free? I'm just like,
this is crazy. It's full, you know what I mean,
it's I know they hear it too, so I know
it's got to be distracting, you know, is their coach
gonna make it. I mean, it just seems like it.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I think it. Yeah, it's it's the world we live in.
And then I mean, look at what Florida and l
S you have done and firing coaches in the season,
and it becomes it does a couple of those things
and it's wild, and it's you know, you're a little
over the halfway point now, two thirds through year three,
and you go, well, you know, you have people going

(03:45):
and maybe maybe the right move is but there's no
guarantee that if you make a move that you're all
of a sudden fixing win twelve games. You just don't
know what the future holds for anybody and so have
to finish out for years who it looks like, yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
You got problems like LSU and Florida firing coaches. That
that tells you all you need to know.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
You know, the coach to UH ball eligible, Well there
you go, talk of bowl eligibility now, man.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah, no, and it's it is, it's you know, and look,
I think nobody wants to just to make a bowl game.
That's not the that's not the goal. It's not what
anybody is shooting for. But you also have to look
at going Okay, what what does the next three years
look like?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
You do?

Speaker 2 (04:38):
You repeat what you've done? You feel like you're on
the right track, and look, they got to get better offensively,
there's no question about it. Yeah, do I think they're
on I agree to do I think they're on the
right track.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I do.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
But but yeah, that doesn't mean you're happy with where
you are right now. But it also you know, again,
you got you got to get better. Will will they
make a coach and say, I mean a quarterback change Saturday?
Does that give you? Yeah? Does that give you a
little spark? I think that's the next one is like,
if it's Ashton Daniels, do you feel like, Okay, maybe

(05:11):
you took a little bit of a step. You know,
that's something that that maybe we'll we'll find out Saturday night.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
So you think we'll see another quarterback Saturday?

Speaker 2 (05:20):
I mean I wouldn't be surprised, Okay, you know free
he hasn't announced anything this week, and I wouldn't if
I was him, I wouldn't. I wouldn't tell anyone what
my plans were, and and I made Kentucky prepare for
anything and everything before then. But I yeah, I wouldn't
be surprised if it's. If it's a lot more Ashton Daniels.

(05:43):
Whether that that means he's starting or not, I don't know,
but I think we'll see a lot more of him.
No matter what I thought he thought he handed himself well.
I thought he looked poised and did some good things Saturday.
And now, you know, how does it look when you
know you got a week to prepare to play in
in some form or fashion I think would probably help

(06:03):
him some.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, that's a good This is a winnable game that
you should win, right, I mean players, Yeah, you should win,
right should you know?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
The yeah? And the crazy thing is, though, is that
you know, and I've said it before, and it's and
it's held up off season long. There's not a game
on the schedule that's for this team that there wasn't winnable.
That's probably the most frustrating part is that you look
at all these games are winnable and but you look
around the around this league there's there's I mean even
you know, look at Kentucky, Kentucky go man, Kentucky's probably

(06:34):
at the bottom. And you think about you know, Missipi
State or Missipi State had Texas by seventeen and the
fourth quarter the other day and Kentucky, Kentucky was ahead
of Texas, played Old Miss tough earlier in the year.
That I think that's the I think that's the nature
of this league right now. It's like, I mean, look
at South.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Carolina Alabama every week right now is winnable, but just
about every day week losable too.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
And so you got to you gotta come ready to play.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
It's so right about the Doug Barfield bringing coming back
offen coordinator.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
He ready our coach Barfield, you do it wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yeah, we got too much going on the church does there?

Speaker 1 (07:20):
You go? That's right, keep him keep him active at
church right right. That was a good event Sunday by
the way, at church, wasn't it.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Yeah. I didn't make it back.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Didn't make it back.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Okay, I'm glad the weather hell at all. Yeah, and
everything went well, but yeah we were only did the
road trip Arkansas and got back Sunday afternoon.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Well I knew, I see you there a lot doing
a lot. I didn't see Sunday, but there was a
lot of people there anyway. But so you think for
good things this weekend with Kentucky and kind of getting
back on course. Is sure, what else wasn't it for
a good win?

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, it'd be. It'd be big to get a couple,
you know, get a couple in a row to just
to kind of keep that feeling and then you know,
I think if they could again actually offensively have a
little bit more success. I mean, this is a Kentucky
team that they're gonna sling it around with a young quarterback. Defensively,
they've improved something, especially against the run. Now, passing defense

(08:11):
isn't great, but Albourn hasn't hasn't thrown it great. So
this is a this is a just like last week.
To me, it feels like a very different matchup because
last week you went, the Arkansas defense hasn't been great,
but but Auburn's offense hasn't. But the Arkansas can score.
You know, Kentucky last week three five touchdowns against Tennessee
now fifty six and ye gave up a ton of

(08:33):
passing yards. But it feels like a matchup that you know,
makes it where it could be. And I think it
probably will be a fairly close game, maybe going into
fourth quarter on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Interesting, interesting, anything else you want to bring up?

Speaker 2 (08:47):
This support it just you know basketball exhibition for them
number two tomorrow night against Memphis. Just you know, another opportunity.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
For them in it.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
And I loved it called the basketball is now doing
that where you're getting some exhibition games where you can
go play and learn a little bit more about your
team before you get going. And I think it's gonna
be good for this new team to kind of continue
to put some pizza together.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
There you go, Jason, Tell everybody where they can get
your information at.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, can check us out Auburn Undercover dot com, part
of the twenty four to seven network and actually lots
of basketball talk, but obviously the football pointing towards Kentucky
this weekend, and so come check us out there, all
the social media platforms, all those things, So come give
us a look.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Thank you very much, Jason, have a great day, buddy,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
